It’s another hot day in southern California. Waves from the sparkly sea crash onto the shore - narrowly missing the feet of children running around. Some would think the weather was absolutely unbearable. However, surfers like you would be used to such a heat wave.

It seems like even when you’re off work, you can’t escape the ocean. It calls to you like the sirens sailors claim exist. Today was a great day to spend your time surfing by yourself when usually you’d be teaching kids how to. So, you make sure to take one of your favorite boards out; the one with the purple to blue ombré design.

Little did you know that a man was watching you from afar. He was studying you like the federal agent he was. Johnny knew what he was doing was purely for the mission, but that didn’t mean that bikini didn’t remind him of the simple man he was.

Angelo would be pissed if he knew Johnny’s first pick was you. Did he seriously need to choose a hot babe to get closer to finding the Ex-Presidents? The answer to that depends on who you ask. Either way, he had you in his sights, and he was determined to charm you into being his unknowing entrance to the bank robbers.

You rode the waves like the professional you are. Maybe you were showing off a little. After all, you do teach children how to surf like you. Even with knowing that fact - that didn’t stop your buddies from challenging you every time. This afternoon was no different.

Bumping, splashing, distracting - it was the usual with your little group. You walked back onto the beach with your guy friend Grommet, the both of you ready to dry your long hair from all the potential arsenic in the waves.

Johnny made his slow approach towards you, a little mesmerized. There you were. Your hair dripping with salty water, those same droplets gliding down your skin like condensation. You were laughing at whatever Grommet said, not noticing the man in the wetsuit advancing towards you until he was in front of you.

You raised your eyebrow at him - the same questioning and intimidating look you gave to every unknown man that walked up on you. Grommet kind of smirked and turned away, knowing you could handle this. Johnny put on his best smile, holding his hand out for you to shake.

“Hey, the name’s Johnny Utah.” You stared for a moment, an amused smirk on your face. You didn’t make any effort to lift your hand from your side. You hoisted your surfboard under your arm instead.

“Uh-huh.” Your response was snarky, and you punctuated it by turning to walk away back to your towel. Johnny was a little taken aback by being brushed aside. Still, it only made him like you more. Were you the hard-to-get type? He had no problem chasing after you even after you pretended to not know him.

Truth is - you did recognize him. There’s no way in hell you wouldn’t remember such an ugly surfboard. You remember your students giggling at him two days ago while he was “surfing.” It was clear he had never been on a belly board, never mind a real surfboard.

He practically drowned right in front of your eyes. You would’ve went and saved him if your friend, Tyler, hadn’t got to him first. Man, she sure did rip into him, too. You had to cover some little ears. Even through all of his coughing and hacking, you saw how he was giving her the eyes. The eyes.

Oh no - you knew how guys like him were. Young, dumb, and full of cum. They get off and leave you hanging dry. You bet that he doesn’t even recognize you from two days ago because you were wearing a wetsuit instead of a *bikini*. Those pretty brown eyes don’t enchant your heart like you’re sure he wants them to.

“Wait! I wanna talk to you!” Johnny called out with a little laugh, finding your response funny. He knew you thought that he was immediately going to hit on you (which he probably will eventually) but he’s got to prioritize the mission first. So, in douchey guy fashion, he jogs after you.

Even though you think you know his game, something about how persistent he was made you want to entertain him. You bring your towel to your hair, drying it off as your tone stays amused, “Alright. I’m Y/N. What do you want?”

“I want you to teach me how to surf.” He gives you a pretty grin. The little smirk on your face is wiped off when he tells you that. Welp, that was the last thing you were expecting. Now you sort of feel like an asshole for assuming he wanted to harass you.

“I teach kids how to surf - not grown men. I’m sorry.” You inform him, a little confused as to how he even knew what you did for a living since you’ve barely ever seen him on this beach. Once again, Johnny doesn’t stop when you dismiss him.

“I know you do, but please. Just hear me out.” He stresses, giving you a more serious look this time. You sigh out your nose, mentally debating this until you wave a hand. You might as well listen to what his thought process is.

Johnny takes a step closer to you as his eyes turn soft and takes on a more vulnerable tone, “I want to learn how to surf because…my whole life, everything I’ve done has been for other people. I went to law school and played football because my parents wanted me to - I was sort of their hero.”

“I only realized that my goals were their goals when…when they died in a car wreck two years ago.” He lies. But you don’t know that yet, of course. Your expression softens slightly at his confession, which Johnny notices immediately. It’s working.

You’ve been working with children most of your life. You’ve met your fair share of children who didn’t have the best of lives. One year, you taught a kid who couldn’t seem to get adopted by anybody. Another year, a kid that ran away from an abusive home. It was easy to pull your heartstrings and get your sympathy.

“Surfing is my goal now. It’s for me. I mean - I’m from Ohio. I had never seen an ocean until I moved here.” He finishes, searching your eyes for anything. Your tone is softer than before, “I’m sorry for your loss, truly, but I teach kids. I’ve never taught adults.”

He sighs quietly at your response, knowing he’ll have to do some more convincing. The charming smile and soft eyes weren’t working. Neither did the sob story. But it did soften you. Maybe talking you up will break your resolve?

“Everyone I’ve talked to on this beach has said you’re the best. They told me kids come every year to learn from you specifically. That you teach kids who are still wearing diapers how to stay on a belly board…I want to learn from the best too.”

Good gravy - does this man ever quit? Hearing what he’s saying about you, hearing how we wants to be taught by you…it’s flattering. You’re humbly proud of yourself for the good opinions that correlate to you. It means you’re doing something right.

Speaking of doing something right…you can’t just not teach him. Look at him - he’s desperate! The guilt of refusing to teach someone even after knowing their sad past eventually convinces you to do it.

You sigh heavily, pinching the bridge of your nose as you reluctantly agree, “Ok…ok. I’ll teach you. But I’m not going to coddle you like I do with those kids. You’re going to become the best surfer on this damn beach.”

Johnny’s face lights up with a smile, one that sort of warms your heart. Despite you not looking forward to teaching him, you can’t help but laugh at his child-like reaction. Maybe he is just like the kids you teach. They need you as much as you need them.

“That’s alright - I like it rough.” He flashes that charming smile once again. You roll your eyes, but there’s no denying that you found his joke somewhat funny. Johnny saw that little movement your body did, like you were laughing. You can’t fool him.

“You like it rough? Ok. Meet me here at five. In the morning.” You challenge, ready to test his limits so he’ll have to quit. Little do you know that Johnny isn’t going to give up on you, and especially not the mission. He’s ready to catch whatever you throw at him.

“Sounds great! See you bright and early!” He beams, knowing his optimism will throw you for a loop. And it does - you expect most to groan and complain about being up early. It was surprising to see someone agree so easily, but guessing from subtly eyeing him up in his wetsuit…he’s definitely into fitness.

And now you have become the creep. But c’mon. He’s a guy close to your age with a nice smile, and your primal urges are wired to be attracted to him. Maybe not in personality (just yet) but he isn’t lacking in the heartthrob department.

As he turns to leave, you realize you can’t let him have the last word. You’ve got to throw him for a loop this time. Or at least get him thinking about you - not that you care, of course. So, you reach down into your bag before calling out to him.

“Hey!” You toss him something to which he quickly catches with one hand. Impressive. Johnny looks down at what’s in his hand - Mr. Zog’s Sex Wax. His first thought is that you’re into some kinky shit, and he looks up at you when he hears your laughter.

His shocked reaction makes you satisfied that you’re getting the last word. Of course, you knew what he was thinking; it was an interesting name for surfboard wax. “You’ll need that for your board. It helps with traction.”

Johnny smirks at how you stressed the word. Traction, huh? Perhaps it’s a sign of mutual attraction. He gives you a nod and a little wave, and you shamelessly watch him as he walks away in that tight wetsuit.

Maybe the wax is a sign for something that’ll happen real soon…

HAIR COLOR :  Deep black, shining almost blue in the right light. It’s very thick and naturally grows into two ear-like tufts towards the back of his head. He combs it in the morning, and regularly cuts it with his claws (though he might trust a partner to cut it for him). Before Weapon X, he had periods where he would grow it out, but he keeps it cut shorter ever since the project as having his hair too long can sometimes make him feel dirty or anxious. He never has to worry about cutting it too short, because it automatically regenerates to its standard length and style in under three minutes if he does. 

EYE COLOR : Light to medium brown that can look amber-yellow in the right lighting. His father’s eyes. They reflect light in the dark, taking on a yellow-greenish hue like any other wild beast under a search light. When he’s feral (or turning feral), they take on a more reddish tone (see the Pack multiverse with Sabertooth and Wild Child for reference). 

STATURE : he stands like an apex predator does. He usually seems relaxed in posture, almost lazy, too casual in some situations. In truth, he’s almost always ready to move, to hunt, to fight. He’s got a quiet intimidation about him, but he can take up space when he wants to. He’ll usually only do this when the situation demands it. 

PHYSIQUE : Muscular, very little body fat thanks to his healing factor. He’s on the shorter side at 5’8, but he’s broad in the shoulders and chest. Even though he can’t scar, you can tell he’s got a warrior’s build. Between his musculature and the adamantium bound to him, he weighs about 300 pounds, but walks silently and is capable of acrobatic feats when the mood strikes him.

He’d like to get a dog someday, if he ever settles down. He’s also lived with various wolf packs over the years, though he views them more as family than as pets. 

RELATIONSHIP INFORMATION

SEXUAL ORIENTATION : Logan is bisexual. It’s something he struggled a lot with in the early years, due to the culture around same-sex relationships that he grew up in. He doesn’t come to terms with it fully until he has his first boyfriend during World War 1, though he had experienced attraction to other men before that. Nowadays he doesn’t really care. He loves who he loves. 

RELATIONSHIP STATUS : Depends on verse and timeline. He’s been married, made a widower multiple times, had girlfriends, boyfriends, one night stands, friends with benefits… But if he is with someone, he is with them fully. He doesn’t know how to love half way and he isn’t keen to learn.

The tfp kids were some of the first things I created in GL2, and it's been a few months since then and I have gotten much better. So here's my updated version of their designs/story.

Also fyi before I forget this is not what I would actually have them be in the show if I had written it. This just self indulgent takes on the characters. Let me know if you want to see how I would have written the show.

Miko

Age: 17

Pronouns: Uses any.

Likes: Skateboarding, drawing, slash monkey, kemonomimi, horror movies, fighting, her friends, and monster trucks.

Dislikes: School, conformation, bullies, and authority.

Description: Miko is a full blooded Japanese exchange student that came for America’s music, art, and to free themselves from his overly strict parents. She's quite energetic and finds it hard to sit still. So to help rid herself of her extra energy he'll practice kickboxing or parkour around town. While she may not act it she is actually intelligent. Miko is also quite the music and language prodigy, easily being able to learn them. He just hates the rigid school system and doesn't care for homework. Miko doesn't have many friends as most are put off by their strange personality and or scared of her. If you do become their friend though Miko is very loyal and will be your ride or die to the end.

Miko is a force to be reckoned with so watch out Decepticons, they're coming for you!

Raf

Age: 12.5;

Pronouns: He/Him

Likes: Coding, his friends, studying, snakes, robots, math, science, cats, school, chocolate, and nature.

Dislikes: Yelling, pity, scary movies, being alone, hospitals, and dogs.

Description: Raf is a young techno genius that was born with quite a few health problems. He is the second youngest out of his many siblings, five to be exact. Since his parents are always busy with work and Raf’s other siblings, he tends to be forgotten a lot. He doesn't let that get him down though (most of the time) and is quite a cheery kid. He puts his smarts to good use and has skipped four grades already while also taking some college classes. While he likes science and math his real passion is coding along with robotics. He dreams of one day opening his own tech company.

He might be a sweet kid but don't underestimate him. Raf could hack circles around even among some of Cybertronian’s elite.

Jack

Age: 16

Pronouns: He/Him

Likes: Motorcycles, girls, family, social media, and his friends.

Dislikes: Risks, seeing his friends hurt, and bullying.

Description: Jack is quite an average guy all things considered; he's not overly smart or a great fighter but he is quite the strategist and knows how to deal with people. Jack helps bring out the strengths in Miko and Raf and how to make them use it the most effectively. If he is trained properly he could become quite the leader. He lives with only his Mom, Jack’s dad having passed away a long time ago. He does every he can to help support his mom. While yes he feels she can be too overprotective or a bit embarrassing at times he loves his mom and wants to lessen her burden as much as he can. The reason he even got a job in the first place was to help her out with the bills.

Watch out for our very own human prime! He won't hesitate to sick his friends on those deserving.

Explanation undercut

Miko is still my favorite out of the trio and I will continue to show blatant favoritism. I learned much much more into the punk aesthetic because I think it's perfect for her personality. While I did like how colourful her old design was from a character design perspective it wasn't really unified or fit there enough.

Anyways she has some big ol stomping boots now that are definitely steel tipped. (Ouch man) They give them around 4-5 inches and make her the same height as Jack when wearing them. She also has knee pads and a shoulder pad. Well because skating and I wanted her to have armor without it being armor. If that makes sense? Miko also has horns partly since she likes kemonomimi but mostly because he's a “daredevil.” Miko's skateboard is Bulkhead themed, of course no explanation needed there. I tried to do some messy makeup since they give off that vibe.

I'm a sucker for the black people with white hair design. Plus I thought Raf kinda being (fictional) albino would play into Raf being ill. When something is wrong with you you're more likely to have more problems. For him I kept it generally similar to the last design just made more cohesive. He still has that nerdy school boy vibe and stuff. He also has a wrist brace now since someone told me how bad canes are for it so I wanted him to have some extra support to help.

If you look closely, his bag has a bumblebee on it.

Jack's design also didn't change that much; the main thing is his eyes are now blue. I thought it would be a nice nod to how since he's a human prime that his eyes should be autobot blue. Plus it fits the color scheme better. His gloves are leather and arcree themed. Yeah nothing to say much, as he also didn't change a lot. 🤷

Doe is an Italian deer-folk, that's why I chose Santomassimo (can be translated into "Great Saint") as his surname, I just picked one of the most common surnames in my small town cuz ofc I wouldn't use mine even if I wanted to HJDHSDFJSFH

The reason why there isn't an actual birthname listed like for Ivrig still having "Kosuke" along with his chosen name, is that lore-wise, Doe undergo a legal name change. Ivrig, instead, stood with Kosuke during the legal name change in my personal headcanon of him being actually trans. In fact, in game he is not mad that people use Kosuke for him, he is more uncomfortable when his family insists on referring to him as "Ko-chan" using a feminine and infantilizing suffix. Plus, on the documents, his sex is male, meaning he also undergo some sort of legal sex change on paper at least. That means his family accepts the fact he is trans but don't quite understand how to fully be an ally and still use the "-chan" suffix. I assume that general hatred around the LGBT folks has been greatly reduced thanks to the whole "the soul is a source code, everything is prewritten" so people had gotten more understanding of the "I was born this way" and don't see it as something harmful. Although I can still see the older folks being judgemental and always take the opportunity to assume that any sign of diversity is actually a BUG and therefore personality error

This was the case for Doe's parents. His mother was purely Catholic and strongly believed that God sent the BUGs to punish the sinners. As a consequence, Doe lived in fear that even a minuscule mistake could lead to his death, even living under his true identity

After finally getting into university, and convincing his parents to get him a house to stay in, Doe is met with a completely different mentality, everyone is much more accepting and he slowly gets out of his shell to come out as trans. However, not to his parents, at least until he is met with the opportunity to undergo a legal name change. His parents are obviously furious, but not completely against. Doe can still be a pretty feminine name, however, his parents are much more against the fact that he chose to "discard his heritage" and choose a much more standard, English name rather than his Italian birthname. Tho there was still his surname so no biggie in the end

As stated before, his surname can be translated to "Great Saint" although the heritage of said surname is not really specified to be founded by religious backgrounds, it still recalls it quite a lot

Always afraid of religion, he'd grown distant of it, never sharing such detachment to his family and pretending to still be a believer every time he would come back to his hometown during the holidays

Speaking of hometown, his family is Italian but lives in the same setting of Ivrig's. Doe ends up attending a university in the same big city as Ivrig to study design, and that's how they meet

EDIT: Ignore that I completely forgot to talk about Doe's family LOL but he also has a little sister! His mother was first a musician but had to abandon that due to having children, which made her become a music teacher instead. Doe's mother is, in fact, known for being a really good pianist and everyone expected him to take the same passion for instruments. However, that did not happen and Doe took the same path as his father, which is becoming a designer. Everyone looked down on him because they thought that art would've been just a phase and "that job wouldn't have brought him anywhere if not under a bridge". It did not help that Doe's little sister DID take the music passion and started playing all sorts of instruments. Since the little sister took the musician path that the mother couldn't take, Doe was expected to at least take the teaching path. Of course, that wasn't the case, and Doe insisted heavily to go to university and study design. After a tough battle with his parents, they finally agreed

Doe would always go to a specific square near most of the universities' campuses. He wasn't that good with social interaction and never really made much friends to hangout with, most importantly he wasn't used to the chaotic city life, so a nice, calm space where he could sit on a lone bench and draw whoever caught his interest was his go to activity

One day, Ivrig decides to use said square as a preaching spot: everyday he would settle down there at the same hour and preach loud and proud about LAGOM. Every time, Doe was there. Ivrig's passion and his over-the-top personality caught Doe's eyes, enough to actually lend an ear and listen, signing down information as he constantly imprinted Ivrig's poses on his notebook through doodles

He found himself interested for the first time into something related to religion. It quite resonated with him. Feelings are a hassle, they're complicated, everyone expects something different from him and from the way he chooses to express himself, sometimes people make themselves unreadable and confusing as if they were doing it on purpose! He didn't like doing mental gymnastic every time! How others would hate how he struggled with feeling empathy or feeling anything at all! What if... what if he could be inorganic?

However he didn't really feel like just- going there and ASK, that was too embarrassing! Instead, he sneaked behind Ivrig, and sticked a doodle page he made for him to his metal cabinet using a magnet, running away clumsily as soon as Ivrig turned around. Now, Doe is quite recognisable anyway so, the next day, at the same hour, Ivrig started preaching again but, instead of standing still in the middle of the square, he walked around it until he could locate Doe, stopping right in front of him to ask a rhetorical question and conclude it with "Isn't that right, Notebook?" addressing Doe directly

This is what started it all, Doe couldn't really run away from that anymore and, deep down, it was his plan all along, so this time he would be forced to confront Ivrig and get into the religion

One traumatic family disowning experience later, Doe is now living in the shared households of the LAGOM House, and what do you know, it's the same one where Ivrig also lives in. Doe survives with his scholarship and part-time job money, which is more than enough considering the high sense of community and the other believers helping him out, just like they did for Ivrig. In a way, Doe became Ivrig's disciple, always going to him whenever he was in doubt

Once he reached Ivrig's rank (Shelves and the like) he also chose a cabinet. Most of the believers expected him to pick a library or anything else related to his strong passion for drawing and designing, however, Doe explained his choice saying he based himself off "functionality and affordance" rather than passion and the being easy-to-assemble. Being a student in design, he follows the rules of "affordance", which is "the characteristics or properties of an object that suggest how it can be used. It shows a user that an object can be interacted with.". The main 3 agents that can be interacted with are Buttons, Switches and Sliders/Levers, with the main 3 interactions being Push, Pull, Turn. A good object is functional if designed to be as such, following the rules of affordance. A library is static, it's just a storage. A cabinet is dynamic, it has a door, it can communicate how to use such door and can be designed in many different, artistic and yet functional ways. Moreover, he designs his own cabinet head to be perfectly functionable, removable, and with glasses incorporated. Ivrig is quite jealous of that but he would never admit that out loud HAJHDFJSH

But, most importantly, he is quite the homosexual for Ivrig, but we don't talk about that /SILLY

Doe takes Ivrig's place as a preacher... however that does not last long as he cannot accept that the one he loved and that actually accepted him could've done such things without a reason. So, in order to prove his devotion to Ivrig he goes against LAGOM and recreates the exact same crime. With the difference that Doe exposes the corpses in a whole ass artistic exhibition IN THE SAME SQUARE that Ivrig used to preach in

When Doe is scheduled for hacking, Ivrig had already been dismissed, so imagine seeing your boyfriend on the news before you could have the time to meet him again after getting reformed,,,, augh,,,

Yes cuz, Ivrig DOES remember Doe, all that the BUG erased was LAGOM and his identity connected to It. There might be missing pieces, a LOT of them, but he still remembers that they were in a relationship. However, Doe... doesn't remember much of Ivrig. That is because Doe is a huge people pleaser, he is the kind of guy that is willing to do everything to receive the approval from anyone that even barely shows affection to him. His BUG's outbreak reached its peak due to his denial and desire to receive approval from the one he loved. This resulted into Doe not believing in LAGOM anymore, but also considering Ivrig a charlatan, not remembering much of him in the first place, let alone the fact that he had a relationship with him

Following the headcanon that Captain, Rookie and Unid end up becoming Ivrig's found family, Ivrig doesn't have that many problems going in and out of the HOTFIX building, skipping the security procedures cuz that's their son bitch /silly

So, Ivrig runs to Doe and is immediately struck by the terrifying "Do I know you?" statement </33333

Think that maybe Ivrig went without his cabinet (since I headcanon that after being mindhacked he gets help to remove it and modify it so that he can wear it again and take it off with ease) or left it to Miki or Captain while he waited to be able to visit Doe so he goes back to get the cabinet and wear it again and Doe is like "Ohhh aren't you like-??? That weird ass charlatan?? I followed your preaching and did that bad stuff!!"

Oh well that got worse

So like, Ivrig says "Omg no way I got reformed too I don't follow that god anyway either-!!" and Doe is NOT convinced cuz "Well if you got reformed that's another reason why I shouldn't trust you blindly!"

Ivrig is so heartbroken and asks Captain for advice cuz ofc he would that's his mom now and she's like, immediately in to help and offers to take the guard's shift and watch over Doe instead to talk to him and subtly ask about Ivrig and what he thought about him and if he remembers, which brings in the whole speech about "changing the scenery" (y'know? the same speech she gave to Doctor about change?) cuz yeah Doe is 100% valid for not wanting to listen anyone blindly anymore and become more of his own person instead of being so dependable of other's acceptance, but y'know Ivrig could still care for him nonetheless. They had BOTH changed, that's more than one reason to try again

So they talk again and they figure out that Ivrig doesn't remember shit about his time at the LAGOM House, but Doe DOES and vice versa since, during their time together, they've vented to each other so now they remember facts about the other person but not about their own lives. Even if it's very minimal they share what they remember about the other, tho Ivrig doesn't specify anything about them being together since Doe doesn't seem to remember that at all

So this time, it's IVRIG trying to send hints in the clumsiest way possible and Doe NOT catching them at all <3333

He was sorely mistaken to think anything he said to Hinata would make a difference.

He’d been agonizing over Inuwashi’s theme: mood boards that lacked spark, books, and magazines strewn about in his office; he just couldn’t find inspiration. But it was high time he made up his mind. 

To go above and beyond, things have to be right at the onset. Neji entrusted him with that much. He shouldn't steer the club publication aimlessly, taking up whatever social issue seemed relevant, slapping random pretty photos into one collection, submitting it for the Kage Jinkoutekina Radiance Capture Merit Prize Competition, and calling it a day. 

Sairiumu's Photography Club's inception can be traced back to a small group of visionary students who, driven by a passion for documenting and preserving history, embarked on a journey to capture the essence of their era through the lens of a camera. Over time, this led to archives that date back 300 years, amassing a rich tapestry of visual history that chronicled the evolution of culture, society, and technology of former Konoha, now Metro Konoha.

Indeed, the archives are the Photography Club's pride and heritage, and Sasuke's predecessors didn't shy away from utilizing its treasures for older issues of Inuwashi. Even so, it didn't win them a Kage-Jin, as it is fondly called in the photography world. He studied previous winner publications and found two common traits: a stronger theme, and high aesthetic value. 

To clear his mind, he took a week off school—a privilege he has as club president—and went hiking along the mountain trails of the Konoha Natural Reserve. He ached for the serenity and the scenery by the lakes; animals are also easily his favorite subjects. Convincing an increasingly distrustful Sakura to let him go solo backpacking for a week had taken great pains so it came as a bitter disappointment when he found the trails packed with tourists. 

Though he managed to take pictures and enjoyed the view, he wasted his time when he returned that Monday, the day of the qualifying exhibition for aspiring new members, without a solid theme still. Adding to this stress was seeing Hinata Hyuuga’s name on the list of participants who made submissions. Had he not taken a week off, he could’ve rectified this mistake with the recruitment committee early on, not during the exhibition proper when he strode at noon where it could be unseemly.

“Are you sure you checked all of these names?” said Sasuke, his tone dripping with accusation. Already, he could feel stiffness returning to his muscles, the pressure steadily increasing at his nape. 

Tenten tilted her head curiously, taken aback. “What do you mean? We’ve checked everything twice. All these names have their entries inside with designated bead urns all accounted for.” There had been a case of hacking during online voting in the past, so the recruitment committee took to devising creative means year after year.

“Isn’t there a master file that shows the exhibit numbers with the names? Show it to me,” he demanded, his nostrils flaring as he kept his anger simmering at a level. If he were to ask directly which one is Hinata Hyuuga’s, he would seem more suspicious. All entries were identifiable only by their assigned number.

Tenten hesitated for a moment, her brows furrowing slightly at the unusual request. “I’m sorry, Sasuke, but that file is strictly confidential. Only I, as committee club head, have access to it.”

Sasuke raised a brow. “I’m the president…” He let the sound of the title hang in the air and when this didn’t seem to convince Tenten, he added: “Read the club rule book. There are exceptions given to the club president.”

“But that’s how I’ve been instructed by the upperclassmen before I assumed office. Only I can know the master list–”

“I do things differently,” he replied. “It’s crucial that I understand the quality of this year’s candidates. Besides, I’m not going to vote.”

“You can, though.” Tenten remained skeptical and avoided his eyes, much to Sasuke’s irritation.

He let out a frustrated sigh and pinched the bridge of his nose. He ought not to make a scene, not in the open where teachers and other students could be out and about. Reminded of this, Sasuke regained his calm. 

“I’m not interested in who makes it,” he assured her, “I’m only interested in what they can do and how they think. Now, show me!” He held out his hand impatiently.

Tenten looked up, a hint of concern crossing her features. “Fine,” she replied cautiously, unlocking her tablet and handing it to Sasuke. “But please understand, the file contains sensitive information.”

Satisfied that he got what he wanted, he sent Tenten and the others to take a break. As he scrolled through the master file, he realized why Tenten was so protective of it. The document contained sensitive details like family background, home addresses, and contact information. And, truly, it hadn’t been an error on the recruitment committee's part— Hinata Hyuuga unabashedly made a submission, despite all that he said.

Mourning doves are everywhere, so commonplace that they fade into the background. Does it make them unworthy subjects? Who truly notices them?

All Sasuke needed to remember was the number sixty-seven. He could easily make up a reason to disqualify her, but his curiosity got the better of him. Who is she really? Why is her family information classified? What made her different from the others? Maybe her photo would give him some clues into her psyche.

He slipped into the exhibition hall, his ears straining for any hint of approaching footsteps, and moved in with deliberate care, avoiding any noise that might draw attention. To his surprise, he found Neji Hyuuga standing by entry number sixty-seven, his hand deep into an unlocked bead urn which would then be weighed at the end of the day to determine which top fifty new members got the most votes via porcelain beads. 

How he got the key, Sasuke could only guess. Such a lowly crime that Neji Hyuuga is forced to commit. 

Whatever his reasons were for pocketing in some beads for Hinata Hyuuga’s urn to lose some weight, Sasuke carefully took another turn and pretended the second time that he had just arrived.

“Neji, what brings you here?” 

Sasuke adjusted his manner to be more casual, easier to play untarnished by the curse of knowledge of Neji’s crime. He couldn’t help chance a glance at exhibit number sixty-seven, of mourning doves bathing in a puddle on the side of the road, their wings as though ballerina arms outstretched, their faces of satisfied bliss while cast on the reflection of the murky water were the faces of preoccupied pedestrian impatient to get to their destination. 

Neji paused at the sight of Sasuke and smirked in that regal, smart-alecky way of his. “If I didn’t know you any better…” His smile then slipped into a pensive frown. “There’s no shame in doing what’s best for the club. Better believe me when I say this one getting the most votes is bad news.” 

Sasuke perused Hinata Hyuuga’s photo some more. “The most votes you say? Surely none in this row.” He then looked at Neji and half-smiled, assuring a mentor and friend that he’ll keep silent about it regardless of the underlying reasons.

Neji smiled back in mutual understanding. “Let’s go out to dinner sometime. After my exams.”

“I’d be delighted,” replied Sasuke. “But… would you mind if I ask why?” 

Neji went around the other entries to drop some voting beads on the ones he deemed somewhat palatable. “It’s best to avoid some people, Sasuke,” said Neji. “They might look normal… speak normal for the most part. But somewhere along bits and pieces here and there, you’ll realize it’s better not to get entangled with such certain people even if they’re family—maybe especially if they’re family. You’d be more careful not to be associated with such kinds of people.”

yes, I think you have the potential to go to college and succeed. I've taught a number of variously-disabled students, including intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or AAC users (being in disability studies affords me the unique opportunity to interact with more disabled students than your average instructor!).

if this is something you want, I encourage you to talk to those around you about researching programs that get disabled students into schools –– many universities have programs that allow you to take a modified courseload with extra supports and a built-in community of other disabled students. another option would be to consider universities/community colleges near you that you could commute to, or take classes with virtually and/or asynchronously. I'd advise you to contact their disability offices/access coordinators during a less-busy time, especially the summer, or to inquire for information about orientation/qa events.

i'm not going to lie to you: universities aren't built for disabled people, or disabled knowledge. but we have, do, and always will hack universities to make them work for us, and do amazing things within/despite their confines. every day, there are more resources out there - different ways to access readings and classes, more disabled people in academia (both as students and as instructors) and more programs designed to get disabled students into higher ed. stay organized & don't give up, you've got this!!

PROLOGUE: Sixth Grade

George and Harold arrive at Jerome Horwitz for the first time for their last time. They were sixth graders now, and semi-popular comic book creators at that, with their Dog Man comics taking off at rapid rates. As the two reminisce on their time at the school on their first day, everything is slightly different--and yet exactly the same.

Erica, the cool kid on the street, won’t be going to the same middle school as the others. After the Tattle Trials, she’s set for Ellitanati the following year, and emotions are spreading around. By proxy, Melvin is studying his hardest, becoming even more determined to get into the school and prove his worth. Mean ol’ Mr. Krupp is also the same, but he’s also been spotted acting awkward more often than not. Could it be thanks to the new addition to the lunch lady staff, Edith?

As they pass through the hallways on that day, they come across a display showcasing the graduates over the years, their eyes falling on Kipper Krupp’s photo as they’re reminded of their ultimate prank, the Wedgie Magee incident. The two pledge to never go down his path.

They go through the motions--pranks, detention, comics, as expected. And of course, another monster for Captain Underpants to beat. The Captain learns of his sidekicks’ incoming departure and pledges to spend as much time as possible with them before they set off for one last time. This also pushes Cap to be the best hero he can be, and his skill improves in battle, which prompts the two boys to start considering a reboot of the Captain Underpants comic so they could go out with a bang.

Halloween, their favorite holiday, comes around, but Melvin and Mr. Krupp attempted to get it banned through support of Piqua’s parents. To loophole this, the boys invent Hack-A-Ween, a Halloween bootleg, and through it they realize that Melvin resents Halloween due to not being a part of celebrations for it. And so, like similar times before, the boys extend a hand to Sneedly and offer him a spot in the fun. (For more detail, watch the Halloween Netflix special.)

Following this event, Melvin is slightly nicer to the boys, as they slowly begin to warm up to him and spend time with him. Usually, it’s due to a monster attack, but afterwards they get more and more used to hanging out. By December, Melvin’s been integrated into the friend group, causing him to lose track of his research into an anomaly in the universe which will definitely not become relevant later

Calling back to their time at summer camp, Melvin is invited to help George and Harold with the reboot for the Captain Underpants comics, and he helps put the pieces together for a slightly more “mature” take on the character…propelled by the trio’s personal sense of maturity.

(They attempt to run the new design by the IRL Captain, and he’s less than enthusiastic. He sticks with his classic look and storyline.)

The new comics are a smash hit with students, and the group decide to dedicate a website to it where they can upload online simultaneously, spreading their reach as microcelebrities. Mr. Krupp indirectly admits his interest in a Teachers’ Meeting the two boys happened to hear in the hallway, only for him to immediately retract upon realizing their presence.

The Tomorrow Talk is launched, and Melvin once again grows distant trying to accomplish his Elitanani goal. His experiment, of course, grows out of control when it comes into contact with cafeteria leftovers, unleashing a Lunch Monster (similar to the one from the first Captain Underpants comic in the first Captain Underpants book). George and Harold extend a hand of help, both through the Captain and the Misfarts, and the group is able to effectively take down the monster for the time being.. Following the incident, Elitinati finds Melvin’s “reluctant yet nethertheless impactful” teamwork with both a town icon and one of their incoming students a sign of the talent they’ve been looking for for so long. Melvin is accepted, and he’s not as happy as he thought he would be, knowing he’d have to leave behind the school when he just started to truly feel a part of it. 

Following this, Mr. Krupp disappears. He was in a car accident with his nephew, Kipper, while he was teaching him how to drive. The two will be in the hospital for a week, and in that time, Ms. Anthrope is the acting principal. It’s now late May, and a week is just enough time to plan one last epic event. By negotiating with Harold’s soon to be father-in-law (Mr. Meaner), they’re able to set up a carnival for not just the students, but everybody at Jerome Horwitz for the end of the year. George and Harold are able to turn this into a celebration of Captain Underpants, and by extension Erica and Melvin, who’d be leaving Piqua for the foreseeable future. Mr. Krupp tries to shut the celebration down, but Edith’s excitement causes him to keep his mouth shut.

The day before the last day of school is the date of Captain Underpants and the Climactic Closing Ceremony of the Cynical Jerome Horwitz. George and Harold initially make a collage of Captain Underpants’ related items and objects to give to Melvin for him to remember. Upon arriving at the school however, they remember that the most important thing to Melvin is having a friend. The two give Melvin their tags and numbers proper, promising to him that he’ll always be a part of Treehouse Comix Inc., even if he’s not in Piqua anymore. The box is confused for storage by one of the teachers and put away in the basement.

As for the celebration itself, you can’t have a Captain Underpants party without Captain Underpants! The waistband warrior attends the occasion, hiding his depression at George and Harold’s incoming departure and prioritizing having fun with them and the rest of the kids. Surprisingly, he doesn’t turn back to Krupp when he gets wet, at least, not until the end of the party. It seems something was keeping him chained to consciousness during the event. This probably won’t be important later, right?

The party ends with a performance from Everlasting Scream (they blew a LOTTA money on this) and a farewell to Erica and Melvin. George and Harold hugged Captain Underpants as they left, the Captain waving them a solemn farewell as he promised to never forget about his sidekicks.

He was never seen again.

On the final day of school, Mr. Krupp found a heart-shaped letter in his mailbox at the office. George and Harold had caught on to him crushing on Edith, and so they decided to organize a special date for the two--The Prank for Good. Now given a reason to be happy, Krupp’s final meeting with the troublemaking duo is a lot more positive, in spite of his elation to never have to look at their faces ever again. George and Harold ultimately reciprocate, waving goodbye to their principal for the last time.

In the hallway, on their way to the buses, George and Harold bid adieu to their friends. While it’s only a 3 month break for most of them, it’s a long goodbye for Erica and Melvin. The farewell ends in a group hug initiated by Bo, the Misfarts departing to parts unknown for the time being. 

George and Harold walked out of the building for what appeared to be the last time. Krupp drove off to prepare for his date. Erica and Melvin packed their bags and hopped onto the bus to high-class education. 

The saga of Captain Underpants was over.

Minato: Minato has been helping his grandparent's out at the shop ever since he moved in with them! It first started with getting things ready in the displays and helping his grandma get orders ready. Then on the weekends Minato would get fishing lessons from his grandfather until eventually he was the one who got most of the fish and delivered them to where they needed to be.

Haruto: Haruto is a CEO of his mothers interior design company that was handed down to him in her will. Haruto and his mother are both clean freaks who enjoy nicely decorated homes. Haruto enjoys his job, he likes what the job entails. Honestly, he's not even sure what job he would do if not interior decorating, no job is cleaner in his eyes.

Jun: Jun is college student majoring in fashion and in her free time is an influencer. She wants to make beautiful, trendy outfits for everyone to wear! She enjoys doing silly little challenges and showing off her designs online. She'll lose her mind if she finds out you watch her and if she see's you wearing her designs.

Hoshi: Hoshi works as a cook in his dad's restaurant with his dad. Hoshi honestly doesn't have any aspirations, nothing that he's ever been like "Oooo! I wanna be that! That's my dream!" He's tried many other things, but nothing too appealing for a life long aspiration. He's pretty fine with being a cook, he likes it enough.

Habiki: Habiki works as a host for his dad's restaurant(At least in the beginning) and he hates it. Unlike his younger twin who has no dream, Habiki does have a dream. They want to go on stage and play the violin, they want to make beautiful music for everyone, mainly themself.

Kage: Kage is a job-hopper, they can never keep a job too long and don't really have any jobs they want. They try to find night shift jobs or jobs where they can stay inside. Currently, in game they work at the graveyard, making sure that no one is digging up bodies or anything, often cleaning the graves as well.

Kei: Kei is a hacker, legally and illegally. He has his own little cyber security business that helps with stopping hackers from hacking your computer. But he often hacks into places like he shouldn't, places that contain confidential info that is only supposed to be seen by few eyes. He enjoys his job and studies for a bunch of other things as well :3

Yani: Yani's a coder, for video games. She makes the characters, the music, the backgrounds, everything. She does a few other side jobs, but never keeps jobs long, things like cashier at a convenience store. Yani also enjoys animating and has a fairly large following on her animation channel. She also take's commissions. She doesn't buy a lot of things so has quite a bit of money saved up.

Aki: Aki is a model. She often helps Jun model outfits, but she'll model any kind of outfit. She often makes it on covers of magazines and has a ton of fans, helps get Jun some exposure! Sometimes her job can be really stressful with obsessed fan and high, unrealistic expectations.

okay, let's get started! gonna put a read more here because this is going to be pretty long since it's for all the ocs!!

📚 BOOKS — what level of education has your oc most recently completed/is currently in (GED, undergraduate, grad school, phd, etc)?

oliver hardwick has an undergraduate degree in classical literature and latin. he was lined up to do graduate level studies, but then the war broke out, so now he's an intelligence officer in easy company instead! he actually didn't want to pursue any more studies after undergraduate anyway, despite his parents pressuring him to do so. not that going to war was preferable though.

tommy monet graduated high school, just about. he has the smarts for more, but always claimed it wasn't for him, or people like him. he would laugh in the face of someone who suggested otherwise. his bad behaviour at school was less of a lack of enthusiasm for learning and more a way that he could easily blend in with the people he grew up with. he secretly would have loved to spend his time reading, expanding his knowledge and writing, but he couldn't stomach the idea of being seen as a "traitor" to his upbringing.

charlie scott also graduated high school, and he also wasn't interested in pursuing any higher education in an academic institution. instead, he basically started learning how to fix vehicles and different engines under the tutorship of a close family friend. so most of his knowledge and skills come from that training.

rhys llewyd was studying medicine before the war broke out and that's how when he joined up he was immediately chosen to be a corpsman. before the war, he was dead-set on becoming a doctor and was sure it was his passion in life. that changes during his time in the pacific and leaves him feeling pretty lost.

max jacobs does not want to be near any educational facility whatsoever lmao, but he did manage to graduate high school. the only form of "school" he enjoyed was the sniper training course he did in the marines. he actually really thrived in that environment, whereas in more traditional learning scenarios, he'd always found himself uninterested, distracted and frankly, just didn't really care. his fellow marines often make jokes about him "finishing top of class" and being the scout sniper "teacher's pet" despite almost being kicked out of every school he'd enrolled in before he joined up.

matty carter, my love, my baby boy, was very much in a similar situation as his best friend, ray person. they were both set to go to university after graduating high school, but then ray decides to fuck it and join the marines instead. naturally, he asks his best friend matty to join them with him too, and well, matty would rather be by ray's side than in a lecture hall, so that's exactly what he does. he joins the damn marines. he's very good at maths and all of the sciences, and was planning to study physics at university. he was a little bit obsessed with space as a kid, but always dismissed his love for it as being "the same as any other kid's".

caleb dawson, oh boy, here we go. pre-zombie outbreak, he's a final year architecture student, but that's not very descriptive of his educational background. his upbringing isn't quite as straight forward as how schooling usually goes, he travelled around a lot and was taken along on jobs with his father after turning ten. this meant he was in and out of schools most of the time and a lot of his education came from the group of criminals his father worked with. one of those taught him how to hack from an early age and he began joining them on jobs after a few years. his love of architecture and building design came from the earlier years when he was left in hotel rooms whilst they went out on robberies. he would sketch buildings from the window of those hotel rooms and eventually began to design his own. obviously to study architecture, you need good, and more importantly steady, grades and a high school diploma, so he always assumed it was out of the question for him. after a series of events that leave his father in prison and caleb having to find his way in life alone, he eventually does the work and gets onto a degree.

🎶  MUSICAL NOTES — what type of music does your oc like? do they listen to music very often?

oliver likes anything he can dance to. he's very much a fun of some uptempo jazz and loves nothing more than getting drunk and twirling around the room in a daze! he wants to listen to anything that will make him feel... no matter what emotion, he just wants to feel it all. mostly so he can forget what he actually feels inside!

tommy is very much a "i don't really care about music specifically" kinda guy. he'll appreciate and enjoy a lot of different styles but in a very passive kind of way.

charlie is pretty chill so generally he's into slower tempo more relaxing stuff, but if he can enjoy a bit of everything.

rhys trained in dance growing up so he's versed in a few different genres and styles of music, and even though he enjoys more gentle sounding music to listen to, he's absolutely down for the upbeat fun stuff too! he's pretty shy about his dancing, but if you get him out there then you'll be surprised by how free-spirited he really is!

max is your classic punk/pop-punk listening skater who has never played an instrument before but swears he would kill it in a band. but yeah, he's very into skateboarding culture and his music tastes reflect that pretty predictably. jesus of suburbia wasn't released until a year after the events of gen kill but that's very much the vibe.

matty also primarily listens to that kind of music.. y'know some soft rock, pop-punk, indie kinda stuff. but he probably consumes a bit of everything and is pretty versed in most music genres. he's also ray's best friend so yes, lots of singalongs.

caleb listens to film scores whilst he hacks. he can't bear to listen to anything with lyrics whilst he works but thinks purely classical music is a bit pretentious, so film scores are his go-to!

🌈 RAINBOW — what is your oc’s sexual orientation/gender identity? what pronouns do they use?

so all of these ocs use he/him and are queer, but i also have female ocs and nonbinary ocs that are a part of my hbo war f1 au! as well as my oc jess who uses she/her and is straight.

tommy is probably the character where sexuality is most relevant to his arc and inner conflicts. him being gay is quite a big factor in his family relations and past, so it does have a big impact on the way he carries himself and his sense of self.

oliver's sexuality is something he both clings to and tries to weaponise against his parents. he uses the disgust and prejudice of the era as a shield and there's a disconnect there between his sexual identity and who he really is. he would likely identify as gay but he's also slept with women if there's something to gain from the situation. he often jokes that he could never settle down with a woman though, as it would please his parents too much.

the other's queer identities are less clearly defined and the labels aren't really a big part of who they see themselves as. max is bi but tends to have a preference for men. matty isn't fully sure if he's bi or gay or not and he's kinda stuck in a situation where his romantic attentions are pulled toward one specific person, who happens to be a man, so he's very much still figuring things out. rhys and charlie are also in a similar place of figuring things out and likely won't find too many answers about that during the war either. rhys is closer to knowing what he wants in this regard though.

caleb is openly gay but he's out here fighting for his life against zombies so the topic of his sexuality isn't a massive part of his storyline other than y'know, speirs turning up and pinning him against a wall with his mouth just to shut him up. but yeah, he identifies as gay and doesn't really hide it from anyone either.

🐶 DOG FACE — does your oc have any pets?

tommy has a cat named badger and is basically a cat magnet wherever he goes!!

matty has an australian shepherd named polo who follows him around like a shadow. it's very cute.

oliver's parents never allowed him to have a pet growing up, it was one of their rules when they got married.

❤️ RED HEART — what are three of your oc’s positive traits?

oliver:

he's very open about his flaws and never tries to hide them or pretend that he's a better person than his actions prove him to be

he's actually a very smart and competent person when it comes to planning schemes or missions, and carrying them out, but he's often reluctant to show this as he despises being praised for his achievements due to the way his parents brought him up

whilst his charismatic nature is somewhat of a defence mechanism for him, he genuinely cares about his friends once they're in his life and will go to really far lengths to protect them

tommy:

he's genuinely caring and protective of his family and friends, even if he's not necessarily on amazing terms with all of them

he's very very observant of other people and can read them pretty well. this usually means others feel very seen by him and often appreciate the way he remembers and notices aspects of their personalities and lives. he struggles when he meets anyone similar to him though, as he's very in denial about himself

he's not afraid to stand up to people who deem themselves above him or others, even if he knows it will get him in trouble

charlie:

he's very patient with other people and is pretty calm when faced with criticism or other people's anger

has a pretty healthy way of expressing his emotions through his writing, especially his journals

he's very attentive to details, both with other people and in regard to their equipment and machinery

rhys:

he has a very soothing and gentle presence, even in the chaos of war, and marines often say they feel safer just having him around

knows exactly how to distract the guys and cheer them up, using small jokes and telling stories about his hometown. he also teaches the men welsh, even though they're all terrible at it, because he thinks it keeps their minds off the heavier stuff for a little while

would absolutely sacrifice himself for any of the k-company boys, but also knows his skills are needed to save them

max:

isn't afraid of bullies or bigots. will happily get his fists or face bloody just to stand up to them

in some ways he's very carefree and manages to truly live in the moment, even if it's mostly a response to "suburban fuckery" as he likes to call it. it's a bit of a challenge when he joins the marines and loses some of the anti-establishment non-conformity that he always claimed to live by, but he also gains a taste of camaraderie there that he starts to think is worth the trade off.

genuinely believes that failure is just a trial run and that he can accomplish anything that he wants if he tries hard enough (i'm putting this in positive traits, but it does have some mixed results and negative consequences as well, but it does get him through a lot of scrapes due to his sheer audacity to try)

matty:

have i mentioned he has a smile that can light up the whole world yet??? because yes... yes he does!!

is very graceful in defeat and enjoys watching his friends succeed and do well, he has so little jealously in that regard

he's pretty self-less honestly and can put aside something he wants if it goes against the majority's needs

he lives for making other people laugh or smile and other people's happiness genuinely brings him a lot of joy.

i'd also say he sees and appreciates the little things in life and usually knows what's important in a situation

caleb:

he very much subscribes to the "never leave a man behind" motto and will put himself in danger to make sure his friends are ok

would much rather get hurt than let the people he cares about suffer. this often leaves him in vulnerable situations where he leaves himself open to people who want him to suffer

despite all his trust issues and inability to let his guard down, he cares. he cares so damn much. and he's gentle really, he tries to hide it but it's there, pouring out from him as much as his rage

💔 BROKEN HEART — what are three of your oc’s negative traits?

oliver:

he's a hot mess, and before the war, he has little care for the consequences of his actions and how they affect the people around him, as long as he can say a fuck you to his parents

he's the textbook definition of self-destructive. he will intentionally fuck himself over, which inevitably fucks others over in the process

he knows exactly how to twist the knife with his words. he can and will snap at the people close to him if they try to look out for him or call him out on his self-destructive behaviour

tommy:

tries really really desperately to be someone he's not, and this constantly prevents him from reaching his full potential

can't decide if he hates himself or his father more, and in that confusion, decides that maybe it's just the world in general

does not know how to process emotions, whatsoever, and pushes away anyone who dares perceive him

charlie:

sometimes his calm nature can be mistaken or seen as a lack of care or concern for his relationships. this isn't necessarily negative by itself, but he does play into this and uses it to create a sense of detachment from having to show any vulnerability

tends to read people well enough to know a lot about their motivations but also closes them all off to his own. this tends to make people feel a bit locked out of his thoughts or emotions and he often needs to remind himself that he has to be vocal about how he feels in a lot of situations

whilst he writes a lot about his experiences and emotions, he doesn't always know how to actually share them with other people, especially when it comes to big important things

rhys:

he tends to hide behind his role of looking after the men instead of facing up to how the war is affecting him. this is pretty standard but he does heavily rely on this as a way of avoiding thinking about his own emotions. he feels like he's in a position where he's not allowed to feel any pain because the men rely on him to be the one who is there for them when they need it most. eddie's presence and their relationship is vital in this, due to eddie's position as an officer, and rhys viewing him in a different light to the others

actively tries to hide and diminish his light

uses his shyness as an excuse not to put himself out there

max:

gets into so many unnecessary situations because he can't accept that sometimes the fight isn't worth it. he truly doesn't know when to just shut up and keep his head down and it does often result in others having to take the hits alongside him

tends to avoid thinking too deeply about his own emotions and his method of always running and creating havoc to distract himself from the nothingness that surrounds his life is mentally exhausting in the longterm, not just for himself, but everyone else

really struggles when the higher ups fuck up during his time in the marines and gets real close to suffering the consequences of speaking up a number of times. this isn't a negative trait necessarily, but again, his mouth gets others in the shit with him and he actively needs to be held back and told to stand down, so it's pretty tiring for other people to deal with

matty:

his selflessness can make him too passive sometimes, he doesn't always stand up for himself when he should

he tends to settle for what he's given in life, with little fight when he has to sacrifice or give something he's worked for up

he's also very flippant about his life and future too. for instance, when ray asks him to join the marines with him, he doesn't need much convincing to change his plans of going to university to study physics, which realistically, could have offered him a path to a well paid career. instead, his best friend wants him to join the military and stay by his side, and regardless of whether this decision is right in the long run, he doesn't think very hard or long in the moment about how it will effect his life and future

caleb:

this boy is STUBBORN. like, really really really stubborn. he won't give up when he's arguing a point and it's extremely hard to get him to admit that he's wrong about something (when i say extremely hard i mean pretty much impossible)

he can also be kind of hypocritical too. he constantly calls gwen out on being too trusting and naive, but when someone who he feels he has loyalties to walks into their lives and is acting noticeably sketchy, he buries those suspicions deep, and chooses to put that loyalty first instead. despite this fucking everyone over, he doesn't tend to see it as naivety because he's too pre-occupied with the glaring trust issues and suspicions he has toward everyone else around him. he seems to think that protects him from displaying any qualities of naivety anywhere else

he's argumentative af and tends to bicker with people and fight about petty things to hide his anxiety and panic. he can't bear the idea of people seeing that side of him, even those closest to him

University student Kuroko whose studying psychology and study of classics (Ancient Greek) They’re heavy content subjects but he loves a challenge is enjoys being in class and learning.

He would like to work as a museum curator! when he was younger his grandma, Kiyoko, would take him every weekend to the museum. he fell in love and has so many fond memories associated with the place.

Nobody would believe it by looking at him but Kuroko has the highest tolerance of alcohol out of everyone. Could go through bottles of vodka like water and he’s not even affected. The only thing that gets him tipsy is absinthe.

Yes, the green fairy, deaths kiss itself, the one drink everyone doesn’t even dream of touching. Yet Kuroko loves it. In his apartment he has one single row on his shelf just dedicated to absinthe 😭

(Aomine is a wine mum. He hates alcohol except WINE. He’s a classy man and he loves a good Shiraz. Jokes when he’s poor he will be repping a goon bag around his shoulder)

Now, since high school, Kuroko did a lot of soul searching. No seriously he graduated a year early (because he’s smart asf and he used to have Akashi tutor him back at Teiko) and he went travelling.

WHERE DID HE GO?

New Zealand, specifically Queenstown. And what did he do? He worked part time as a waiter at a farm that would do tours. He would travel by boat every morning and afternoon. He loved it. The scenery, the people and being able to be seen by everyone. It helped boost his self-confidence a lot.

Kuroko travelled a lot (he comes from a rich family they have a stained relationship. So they just throw money at him to compensate not being there for him when he was growing up) he went to as many different counties as possible. Would pick up the language and would essentially be taken in by the locals.

But I’m getting off track.

Kuroko shares an apartment with Kagami and Aomine. No, don’t ask why he ever agreed to that. Seriously don’t. Top ten dumbest moments of his life ever.

He loves his friends…a lot ;)

But god, he cannot handle being the peacekeeper between the two. Aomine who doesn’t know when to stop teasing Kagami. And Kagami who still doesn’t know when to not let Aomine get a rise outta him.

But he’s stuck with them, unfortunately. (No really he’s stuck because he already signed his name on the lease and he basically pays for most of the rent and he would essentially be making the two dumbasses homeless)

Anyway, Kuroko is a smoker! Or well, he used to be. Or is is trying not to be. It’s hard habit for him to quit. And yes! Yes Kuroko was once the person who ABHORRED smoking. Would always throw water on Aomine back in middle school when he would try and smoke. (He did it to be cool, but he always hacked like an idiot and he hated the taste so it never stuck)

Kuroko however. Well, he started smoking when Kiyoko died. His beloved grandma, the person who was basically his mother and father. The who raised him and moulded him into the person he is today.

He was packing away her things, since he was moving out of the house and into the apartment with his loser best friends, he found her case of cigarettes. She was an occasional smoker but she did stop for the sake Kuroko who would give her his puppy eyes. Because ‘grandma you can’t die and leave me alone’

which well…

he took the case with him, sleek and rose coloured with intricate flower designs on the front with the family name ‘Kuroko’ engraved in cursive. He kept it with him at all times, he doesn’t know why. He just. He felt closer to her when he had it with him.

It was after the funeral, he was alone sitting on the balcony. pulling out the case and looking at the cigarettes before lighting one up and taking a drag.

(Yeah he choked. Throat burned, his lungs screaming at him and his eyes watering. It was the pain. Just the pain of the smoke nothing else)

It eventually became a habit, he would smoke when he was stressed. Which was a lot when he was majoring in psychology and classics. And when he was roommates with Kagami and Aomine.

He smoked when he was angry, when he was hungry and when he was bored. When he was drinking. It eventually became a daily thing.

And because of this new bad habit his fiends staged an intervention. Because like ‘c’mon tetsu you’re the same guy who burned my porn mags because it was rotting my brain!’

And Kuroko did eventually. Slowly. Very infinitesimally did he eventually give up on smoking. Although everyone stayed clear of him during the first couple weeks of him going cold turkey.

Which is why you will find him sucking on a lollipop. He tried finding vanilla flavoured ones but they always tasted like cough medicine so he switched up cherry. His now second favourite flavour.

Kuroko actually went through a lot of different methods when he was trying to give up. He tried chewing gum but he constantly was thinking about how he was chewing his own spit.

He tried replacing it with plain ole black coffee but he hates coffee unless it was overly sweet and at least had five tablespoons of sugar.

Kuroko also tried the uh, fault in your stars method. Yeah that didn’t work. He left them a very long one star review on google.

And so sucking on a lollipop became the easiest way to help him break his cancer inducing habit. But in return he now has a sweet tooth and candy is his new addiction.

VIOLINIST KUROKO. GOD YES.

Growing up his parents forced him into lessons. It was very surprising actually that Kuroko and Akashi never met before Teiko, their parents were basically in the same friends of friends of friends group.

But anyway, Kuroko was put into violin lessons. He hated it at first because he wanted to be out playing basketball. But he did eventually love it. He just kept up the disdained attitude in front of his parents because he was extremely petty like that. What can you say, his blank stare started very young 🤧

Kuroko didn’t really advertise that he knew how to play instruments. He wasn’t hiding it that’s for sure but you know he was the kind of person that wouldn’t say anything unless explicitly asked about it.

Anyway, they were strolling through campus when they saw some people recording a tik tok, asking students that if they could play a random instrument they’d win money. Kagami and Aomine dragged him over because hey, they were the generation of miracles it can’t be hard to play some instrument right (‘Aomine you skipped music to read porn mags on the roof’)

(Aomine actually knows how to play the bass! but he didn’t get that instrument he got a trumpet…he did not get any money)

(Kagami is tone deaf. No money for this man)

AND SO, when it was Kurokos turn…he got the violin as his instrument. Kagami and Aomine groaned and picked up their bags to leave, no free ramen today…

WHAT IS THAT MELODY!?

They turn around to see Kuroko fucking shredding the shit out of the violin. The phantom six man looking up at them as he plays with that smug ass grin.

Jaws fucking dropped because what the actually fuck Kuroko you never said you could play an instrument let alone the violin!?!

(They win the money and they eat ramen with the two pestering Kuroko about how long he’s played for, what he can play and why he never told them…‘ you never asked’ *sucks vanilla milkshake obnoxiously*

Which will undoubtedly make Aomine pick Kuroko up, lift him over his shoulder and run back to the music rooms so they can jam together and be totally platonic best friends as they stare into each other’s eyes and finger fuck their respective instrument with the sauciest bed room eyes ever.

(Kagami staring at the bill they left him, because the money Kuroko won does not cover the mountain food him and Aomine eat. He does a dine and dash and never comes back again…he does eventually feel guilty about running out so he sends them a box of the owed amount of money + tip)

Which also then leads to Aomine finding out that…Kuroko can…play…the…electric guitar as well…

(He can barely contain his hormones from jumping a sweaty Kuroko as he plays the neighbourhood, wishing those fingers were inside of hi-)

After that riveting new information (no seriously both Aomine and Kagami woke up from a wild sex dream and sat in silence at the dining table as they sipped on orange juice…’so his fingers’…’yeah’

Everyone else also found out from the miracle group chat, Seirin group chat, the im in love with Kuroko group chat, the group chat without kise. Basically everyone knew about his ability to finger instruments like a god ‘Aomine stop being a perv’

Tattoo enthusiast Kuroko. This boy has the biggest pain tolerance ever. All those times in middle school and high school where he was just knocked the fuck out and bleeding from the head. He would get back up like it was nothing.

Yeah Kuroko was able to sit through tattoos. Didn’t matter where he was getting it done he just didn’t flinch, just sat their as he read through his assigned book.

He has a whole tattoo that fills his back, probably his most expensive, longest and favourite one. He loves the design of the skeleton dragon. Was drawn to it, remembers Kagami being with him as he chose the tattoo.

Kuroko has a few other tattoos on his stomach, legs and arms. He keeps them covered when he’s working or at uni. But at home, out with friends, everyone can see the ink that stains his skin.

The tattoos were apart of finding himself. He never knew what type do person he was. Didn’t have a style or brand that scream him.

It’s why a lot of people are always surprised by the difference between him when he was younger and now. Kuroko was a awkward and had no real sense of style or personality since all his clothes since he was a baby had been chosen for him. As were his choices.

Kuroko loved his tattoos. He also loved the dark academic style of clothing. Majority of his wardrobe was brown and neutral toned clothes. Which many would think would clash with his sky blue hair…but even that changed.

Kuroko, much like his name, dyed it black. With streaks of blue in his hair. He liked it. A lot. And so did other people.

*cough cough Aomine cough cough Kagami cough*

Yeah no, Kurokos presence seemed to like do a switch up. He was no longer ignored or looked over, no everyone would be looking at the extremely attractive stranger with porcelain skin and striking blue eyes. The one who was mysterious and talked about the most on campus.

He was no longer someone who needed to be forgotten. Kuroko did not need to hide his emotions. He was not a shadow. He was a light within his own right.

(Kagami had a identity crisis when he saw Kuroko grow out his hair. Actually that’s a lie, he had a sexuality crisis the moment he saw a pale yet muscular back get tattooed. Kurokos lidded eyes looking up at him curiously when he turned redder than his hair…’a-allergies’)

(Aomine was gone since middle school. Weak ass simp only became weaker when he found out about Kurokos tattoos and ability to play the electric guitar and violin)

Skateboarder Kuroko. Well he tries to 🤧 he wouldn’t say he was amazing. But it was something he picked up in his third year of middle school and just continued it. He liked the peace of skating, listening to music as he skated through the parks.

It’s actually how he met Hayama. Before they went against one another in the winter cup back in high school they first met at the skate park. Kuroko had watched as the boy skated on his hands. Why? He just felt more comfortable.

Thus started this weird little once a week meet up at the skatepark. They didn’t have to be anyone, not phantom man or the uncrowned king.

Just Kuroko and Hayama.

They continued to meet up even after beating them at the winter cup. Once Akashi was ‘himself’ again they would all hang out when they could. It’s how everyone found that that the two already knew each other.

This skating partnership lasted all the way up to uni. When they’re free and not busy dying from work or school they will pick a night, go out and skate until their legs burned and hands were all scratched.

Would skate to the nearest maji burger and talk about school and how everyone in their overly large group of fiends were doing.

(Kagami and Aomine hiding down in their seats because no they definitely weren’t stalking Kuroko because they wanted to know why he kept coming back bruised when he said nothing happened and were worried he was caught in shady dealings)

(Kuroko saw them hiding in the bushes at the skatepark. They are not slick. But he doesn’t call them on it, finding it endearingly sweet how they wanted to make sure he was okay…then again they were stalking…)

WOW this really was longer that expected. I actually have way more hcs for Kuroko (and everyone else) but these are just a few of them so far. I had a lot of fun making this heheh, I’m definitely gonna make a pt.2 for Kuroko and then do Kagami and Aomine <33
