Your eyes in my life - Epilogue
Tumblr media
Summary - The night of Kim’s final layover as a flight attendant ended with a one night stand with a stranger she met across a bar.
6 years later, that same stranger walked into the 21st District and was assigned as her new Rookie and her life was thrown upside down. She hadn’t seen Adam since that night in LA. But she saw his eyes every day. In the eyes of their daughter.
Chapters - 24/24
Chapter Summary - it’s time for the CPD family picnic.
Notes - just a little epilogue to finish this story off, I’ve loved writing this little family and thank you for all the love you have given them and me. I hope you enjoy this final chapter ❤️ AO3 Link
‘Come on!’ Annabelle said loudly, tugging Adam by his hand towards the park that the majority of the 21st District was already occupying. The grills were lit and Kim could smell the scent of burgers and hotdogs pleasantly wafting their way towards them. The loud cheers of the kids who looked to be dunking one of the more miserable officers in the dunk tank filled the air. People were milling around, smiling, chatting, eating. It was everything the 21st District family picnic should have been.
It was the first time Kim had decided to come however, usually preferring to keep her private life separate from her personal one. But Kevin had mentioned it to Annabelle when he had been babysitting one afternoon and she had practically begged Kim and Adam to bring her.
They had agreed, Kim was certain the kid could sell ice on a winters day.
She and Adam had discussed it and decided that if anyone asked, they wouldn’t lie. They would admit that Adam was Annabelle’s father, it was likely to be obvious to anyone who came across the pair of them together but they decided they had hid for too long. Lying to anyone when Annabelle could overhear was also a recipe for disaster
They had also decided not to keep their relationship under wraps anymore, they weren’t going to make a big announcement or make out with each other in front of their sargeants but if they wanted to hold hands or hug - they weren’t going to stop themselves. They were no longer working together, they had followed the rules and if they wanted to hold hands at a family picnic with their daughter, then they would.
‘I’ll grab you a beer,’ Kim said with a smile to Adam as Annabelle dragged him off towards the swings.
She grabbed two out of the nearby ice bucket and walked her way towards Kevin who was lounging on a picnic blanket watching Jordan and Vinessa kick a ball around with some of the other older kids.
‘Hey,’ he said with a grin, shifting to the side so there was room on the blanket for her too. ‘So mini Burgess managed to persuade you in the end did she?’ He smirked.
‘You knew I wouldn’t be able to hold out when she started pouting,’ Kim chuckled as she sipped her beer, her eyes glancing over to where Adam and Annabelle were still playing on the swings.
‘Well she has got you wrapped around her little finger,’ Kevin said, ‘and looks like she’s got your Rookie under her spell as well,’ he observed, following Kim’s gaze to the pair.
‘He’s not my rookie anymore,’ Kim said idly.
‘How could I forget, congrats on getting the nod girl!’ Kevin said excitedly, reaching over to tap the neck of his beer to hers. ‘Can’t believe you’re going to be upstairs and bossing me around on calls.’
‘Well I won’t boss you around unless I need to,’ she chuckled. ‘But I’m not a detective, just upstairs.’
‘Not a detective yet,’ Kevin winked and she smiled.
‘Mommy!’ Annabelle ran up and flung herself into Kim’s lap. Adam was following behind and took a seat next to Kim, smiling as he picked up the beer she had got for him. ‘Did you see me?!’
‘I did sweetheart,’ Kim smiled, smoothing down some of her daughters flyaways that had escaped on the swings.
‘Daddy pushed me so high!’ Annabelle said loudly.
Kim heard Kevin spit out his drink and she had to hide a smirk. Should have known that it would be Annabelle who would spill the beans.
‘Daddy?’ Kevin asked, eyes wide as he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, his gaze flicking between Kim to Adam and back again.
‘Uncle Kev you work with Daddy,’ Annabelle said matter of factly, clearly wondering what had caused the reaction from her favourite Uncle. Kim looked between her family and her best friend and couldn’t help the smile that overtook her features. She reached over and linked her fingers with Adam’s, wrapping an arm around Annabelle and pulled them both a little closer.
‘So I do,’ Kevin said with a smirk, glancing down at the joined hands and Kim could tell she was in for an influx of questions later. As he looked between Annabelle and Adam, who was smiling warmly at his daughter, he added, ‘well they do have the same eyes’.

George Chapter of the Day #3
Tumblr media
(Author's note: please read trigger warnings and other information in Chapter 1)
Chapter 3
Jordan was fast asleep and the clock neared 11pm before Joie had finished straightening up the house. Her dad pulled a double shift on the squad and was working on a homicide. He wouldn't be home for hours. Finally she pulled her chemistry book out and settled down at the kitchen table. She put the tv on low for background noise and sighed.
When there was a knock at the door, she started. She grabbed a baseball bat and flipped on the outside light, peering out of the front window to see the tall man she remembered from the audition. Joie contemplated calling her dad, but he looked harmless enough. She opened the door a small crack.
"Yes?"
"Hi Miss Armagh. I'm Mal. Remember me?"
"Yes."
"I'm sorry to bother you, but I have an invitation to deliver."
Joie opened the door further but still held the baseball bat in her hand behind the door.
"Invitation to what?"
"Here. You can read it."
He extended a linen envelope to her. She opened it, leaving Mal on the doorstep. It looked real. It was an invitation to a press reception the next day for the Beatles and members of the Hollywood community.
It was signed in ink by Brian Epstein. She knew who Brian was because of Jordan.
Joie looked Mal up and down. He stood there at attention, looking, Joie thought, slightly scared. She finally opened the door all the way.
"Would you like to come in?" she asked.
"That would be nice..." Mal smiled finally.
She swung the screen door out for him. It was then he noticed the bat in her other hand and stepped back.
Joie laughed. "Sorry. Just being careful." She set the bat back down and Mal entered. Joie closed the door behind him.
"Would you like a cup of tea?"
Mal nodded vigorously, frankly glad he made it this far.
Joie led him to the kitchen and indicated he should sit down by moving her textbooks.
"So...Mal?" she asked and he nodded. "Who sent you out at 11:00 at night to give me this invitation?"
"All 4 Beatles...John, Paul, George and Ringo...and Mr. Epstein"
Joie didn't believe him, but nodded. "What do you want in your tea?"
"Just plain is great for me. Thanks." He looked at the textbooks. "You are in school?"
"College. Nursing school. Only 1/2 year to go."
He nodded appreciatively. "My mum was a nurse. During the war. Then she met my dad and stayed home to raise us kids."
Joie looked at him and softened. She sat down across from him with 2 hot steaming mugs of tea.
"Can I ask you a question?" he asked.
"Sure."
"Why did you show up at the audition? I mean you have school and you sure didn't appear like a Beatles' fan like most of the birds."
Birds were girls. Joie knew that. They both lit cigarettes.
"Frankly, I wanted the chance to go to London for 4 weeks. I found out about the audition from my dad. He's a detective and has a lot of friends in the Hollywood community."
Mal nodded and sipped his tea.
"Good cup of tea. Haven't had a decent one since we left home."
Joie smiled. "Thanks."
She liked him. He had an affable, easy going way about him. And she liked his accent, thick, working class. There didn't seem to be anything grand about him. What you saw is what you got. Being close to the 4 biggest musicians in the world didn't seem to have affected him in anyway.
They talked until almost 2 am, when Joie finally said she would come to the reception at 3pm the next day. He offered to send a car, but Joie told him she had her own transportation and would be coming from school anyway.
......................
It was at the Beverly Hilton. Joie had never been there, but knew exactly where she was going. When she arrived, she found a payphone and called to make sure Jordan had gotten home from school and to fill her in. Jordan was definitely more excited than Joie was. But Joie told her she would probably just be milling around and end up talking to the policemen who were assigned to protect the Beatles. She felt more comfortable around police than 4 famous musicians.
The ballroom was jam packed with people. Reporters, celebrities and Joie guessed about a dozen Beverly Hills police. She spotted Mal and went over to say hello, bobbing and weaving through dozens of people.
"I'm glad you came," Mal smiled. "All 4 Beatles were glad to hear you changed your mind..."
"Thanks Mal," Joie answered. "But I didn't change my mind about the movie. They can pick someone else."
"But it's a trip to London...."
"I know. But I don't think it's the right time for me. I take care of my sister. I've got school. I never should have even showed up to the audition."
"I'll have John change your mind. He's good at that," Mal offered. He glanced around quickly. "Come with me."
"Where?"
"Trust me."
Joie looked up at his 6'4" frame. "Do I have a choice?"
Mal shook his head and laughed. He led her down a short hallway and knocked on a door. The door was opened by Brian Epstein.
"Miss Armagh is with me, Brian." Mal told him.
Brian extended a hand. "How do you do, Miss Armagh?"
Joie took his hand. It was soft, his handshake light. She liked a good strong handshake. Sometimes, because she was female, men offered her a weak hand. It made her squirm.
"Fine, thank you. Nice to meet you."
"I'd like to introduce the Beatles."
Joie watched him move into the room. All four young men looked at her and Brian introduced them individually. Joie felt like she was meeting royalty. She wanted to curtsy until John said, "So are you happy we saved 90 birds from dropping like flies?"
Joie saw this wasn't going to be easy. She was going to come back with her own smart ass comment when Paul chimed in, "Everyone was ok. We made sure they were all taken care of."
Joie looked at Paul and his brown, doe-like eyes went right into her. His wide bright smile and lovely face completed a beautiful picture. Joie could see why Jordan adored Paul.
"Thank you," she answered him, smiling. Joie told herself to remember every sight, every sound, every smell so she could tell Jordan. She simply wouldn't believe that her sister was in a room at the Beverly Hilton with all 4 Beatles, their manager and roadie.
"The boys and I have discussed it and we would like you to take part in our movie," Brian began. "I realize you turned it down, but would like to ask you to reconsider. It would be a wonderful opportunity."
Joie took her eyes off Paul to turn to Brian. "I would definitely like to accept your offer."
Oh, shit. What was she saying? Somehow it slipped out of her mouth. And she couldn't stop. "Yes, it will be a wonderful opportunity."
She didn't see John Lennon's anticipation. She didn't see George Harrison watching her with his velvety dark brown eyes. She didn't see Ringo Starr roll his eyes. She did see Paul McCartney smile at her.
..................
"Joie?" it was her dad, finally coming home, exhausted after a long shift at work. "Where's Jordan?"
"She's staying overnight at Amy's house. She's fine." Joie called back from her room. She walked out and went to her father and hugged him. "How are things at the department?"
"Hopping as usual." He offered. "But I got a call today from Bill Weston. Seems your new friends from England want to do some shopping in Beverly Hills. We are arranging to have some stores stay open overnight so they can shop."
Joie laughed. "Sounds about right. They'd cause a riot if they tried to do it during the day. You should see the girls scream when they see them."
"But not you?"
Joie shook her head. "They seem kind of sad to me. Isolated. I think they just want to go home to England and have a decent cup of tea."
Her dad laughed and kissed her forehead. "Well, they asked for a chaperone to show them around and somehow your name came up from Bill Weston."
"Me?" she asked in surprise.
"Yes, you. Seems they're quite taken with you. Bill thought you'd be great to show them around."
"Dad...I know nothing about the shops in Beverly Hills. I go to K-Mart."
"Then take them to K-Mart!"
"Somehow, I don't think they are K-Mart material."
Her dad walked into the kitchen and poured a cup of coffee from the pot that was always on. "I don't think they care. Frankly, I think they just want to get out of their hotel room."
The beach. It was the first place Joie wanted to take them. Casa Del Mar for a drink as the sun set over the Pacific and a walk on Santa Monica Pier after hours. England might be an island, but they didn't have beaches like California. At least Joie didn't think so. She loved being a Californian. Beaches on one side, snowy mountains on the other. In her eyes, California had it all. And instead of stuffy Beverly Hills stores, she'd show them the real California.
................
And she did. In a big police cruiser, driven by Bill Weston. They saw Beverly Hills and Bel Air. They went to the beach and drove one day up to Wrightwood in the San Bernardino mountains. They drove to Palm Springs. And they even went to K-Mart at midnight....which proved to be Ringo's favorite place.
They remained complete gentlemen. A few questionable comments came from John, George remained fairly quiet, watching, it felt like, every move she made and Ringo wanted to hit K-Mart again. It was Paul that kept Joie entertained with stories of their rise, their families, information about the movie.
Joie found him fascinating. He was charming and polite, very "posh". And his eyes could melt her where she stood. But she also was smart enough to know where she stood. She was a tour guide. She was an extra in a movie. There was no way anything would happen between them. Besides, he had a girlfriend. She managed to get that out of Mal. Joie understood that girls don't steal other girls boyfriends. It was her own personal code. And that was that.
But God, he was beautiful.
.......,............
Soon, they were gone. Joie prepared for her trip to London. Eleven other girls were chosen, all of them daughters of Hollywood royalty. Rich, polished....and more rich. Her roommate was Allison. Her father was a producer.
Joie was out of her element. But there was one thing Joie Christine Armagh knew. She knew where she came from. She knew her own mind. She was steady, assured and ready for life. And there was no one who could fuck with that.
The week before she was ready to leave, Joie answered the phone to hear a British accent.
"Joie?" he asked. "It's John. Lennon."
"Hi John. How are you? Are you calling all the way from England?"
"Yeah. And it's costing me a fortune. Are you ready for your trip?"
Joie told him about meeting her roommate, who drove up to her house in a chauffer driven limousine.
"Well, get ready for your first limo ride. Mal will pick you up at the airport next week. Brian said you are coming in on Friday."
"Yes, Friday. But is everyone getting picked up by limo?"
"Of course not. It's our way of saying thanks for showing us around Los Angeles."
"Honestly, you don't have to do that. I had better go with the other girls. I don't want to cause any problems. I have to live with Allison for 4 weeks. I don't need her trying to poison my fish and chips."
John laughed. "Don't worry about that. Look, let me ... us....do this. It's really just a small thank you. And don't worry about the other girls. We've got plans for you."
"Plans?"
"Just get your California bum out here. We'll show you England like you've never seen it before."
"John," Joie reminded him. "I've never seen England before."
"Well, get ready girl."
And he hung up.

"So you're telling me it was for nothing?"
Jordan asks incredulously, her eyes darting between the four of them as though she doesn't know where to look.
"I can hear him."
"And what? Felix is gonna be your guide dog or something?"
"Hey!"
She shoots Felix a sympathetic smile at his objection but it fades quickly as she groans and runs a hand over her face.
"Well that's just fantastic."
She mutters before turning on her heel and disappearing back into the tent. That was absolutely not the news she was hoping to wake up to today. After the disaster of yesterday, she'd hoped that this morning would bring with it the news that Erlking had been captured and they could go home.
She flops backwards onto the uncomfortably thin foam mattress that's been her bed for the last week with a heavy sigh. She's tired of this stupid forest, tired of not knowing what's going to happen after she goes to sleep. But most of all she wants to get away from Adam.
He was wrong yesterday. She still feels him in her mind, in her chest, everywhere, and she doesn't want it. She'd already been starting to suspect that she had feelings for him and was trying to work through and deal with them, without his own being forced on her. There's something else hidden behind the sadness he'd left in her, something deep and forbidden and strong enough to keep relentlessly returning to the forefront of her mind no matter how hard she tries to ignore it. As though he'd unknowingly been trying to tell her without having to say the words out loud.
She knows that he feels something for her. What he'd left behind synchronises perfectly with what she feels for him, though she still can't quite put her finger on what it is. It's not love - it can't be. She couldn't possibly love somebody so closed off towards her. Longing perhaps? And wonder. It makes her desperately wish that he'd let his guard down a little and let her know him properly, beyond the stoic soldier image that he projects constantly.
His behaviour towards her since the day before makes her question it though, she has to be mistaken. How can he feel something so deeply for her and be able to act so indifferent towards her? More than indifferent. He's acting as though he despises her and it's left her more confused and mad at him than she's ever been.
Her attention is drawn to the entrance of the tent as it opens and she involuntarily holds her breath until she sees that it's Mason crawling in to join her. Good. A distraction. If anyone can get her mind off of Adam and wipe away whatever feelings she may or may not have for him, it's Mason.
He doesn’t say anything as he lays down beside her, just staring up at nothing in silence. There’s a strange, awkward tension between them and she doesn’t know where it’s come from but she knows that she hates it. She can’t handle a weird vibe being between her and Adam and between her and Mason. She can’t do anything about Adam, so she does the only thing she can think of to fix the weirdness between her and Mason.
Without saying anything she props herself up onto one elbow and leans over to kiss him, his hand moving to her waist and roughly dragging her over on top of him automatically as he returns the kiss. She shifts her knees to either side of his hips to straddle him, her hands splayed out on his chest as she tilts her head to kiss him a little harder, almost desperately. He groans at the forcefulness of her kiss and his fingers begin to creep under her shirt before he freezes, and she pulls back to look at him questioningly.
“What’s wrong?”
He frowns and gives a slight shake of his head.
“Nothing.”
He murmurs, leaning up to catch her lips with his again and sliding his tongue into her mouth. She sighs softly, out of relief more than anything, and grinds her hips down against him. It’s working, and she’s slowly forgetting about Adam, choosing to deliberately ignore the part of her mind that’s telling her this is a mistake, that she’s about to screw things up beyond repair.
Mason pulls back again suddenly, his hands abruptly pulling out of her shirt and moving to her shoulders to stop her from leaning down to kiss him again.
“We can’t do this anymore.”
He mutters and she sits up, her hands falling to her sides as she frowns down at him.
“Are you serious?”
“Yeah.”
It doesn’t look like he’s going to explain any further, though she has a feeling that she knows exactly what’s come over him.
“Fine.”
She huffs, hauling herself off of him and landing heavily beside him again, arms crossed over her chest as she glares up at the roof of the tent.
“Don’t be a drama queen.”
He snaps at her, and she twists her head to the side to shift her glare to him. She’s well aware that she’s being dramatic but he doesn’t need to point it out.
“I want to go home.”
She murmurs after a moment, her glare finally fading as she looks away from him again.
“I didn’t realise me refusing to fuck you would get to you so much.”
She rolls her eyes at his comment but doesn’t bother to look back over at him.
“Get over yourself, it’s not just you.”
“I know. It’s Adam.”
He replies and now she does look over at him, half surprised and half pissed off that he’s called her out again.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
He sits up and gestures to her neck and she absentmindedly lifts a hand to touch the tiny wounds Adam left there the day before.
“I don’t know what went on between you two when he did that. I have a pretty good idea but I don’t know for sure, but there’s something going on there and I’m not gonna get in the way of that.”
“There’s nothing going on there.”
She objects, knowing it’s not true even as she says it. He just raises an eyebrow at her in disbelief before looking away from her again with a slight shake of his head.
“There’s something and I’m not gonna stand in the way.”
“No need, he’s getting in the way enough for the both of you.”
“You should talk to him.”
“I did talk to him. He thinks I’m nuts.”
He smirks and side-eyes her before pulling a cigarette from his pack.
“He’s not wrong.”
“Fuck you.”
His smirk spreads into a grin and he flips her off before making to leave the tent, but he pauses halfway out and glances back over at her.
“Be patient with him. And don’t fuck it up.”
He tells her, a surprising amount of concern softening his words and she frowns up at the roof.
“Maybe you should tell him that.”
She mutters stubbornly and she can just about hear his eyes rolling as he leaves her alone again. Well so much for her plan of using Mason to distract her from Adam. She can’t ignore the tiny glimmer of hope that Mason had sparked in her though. If he can see that there’s something there - as he had put it - then maybe she’s not as wrong about Adam as she thought she was.
--
Mason has a feeling that speaking to Adam about Jordan isn’t going to end well. He’s just as worried that it’s going to be less of Adam being angry about his personal life being interfered with and more of an ‘I told you so’ about his and Jordan’s relationship coming to a messy end and making things awkward within the unit.
Not that it’s a particularly messy ending, it’s not as though there were ever any real feelings there and he can’t foresee that there will be any difficulties in them continuing to work together as they always have. But he knows Adam well enough to know that he will insist on the problem being between Mason and Jordan rather than Mason calling it off for Adam’s sake.
“Can I talk to you?”
He forces out as he steps up beside Adam, glancing over his shoulder quickly to make sure Jordan hasn’t come out of the tent and spotted him beelining for Adam, who just nods and turns to face Mason properly. He’s already not in the best mood, Mason can tell. Between taking so long to make any real headway on this mission and whatever’s going on between him and Jordan he knows that it would all be weighing heavily on him and he’s probably going to be even more short tempered than usual.
On top of everything else, Mason might have been playing it off as not a big deal so far but he knows that what he did yesterday can’t have been easy for Adam. Not with Jordan’s blood being as strong and as tempting as it is. He’s not sure that he would’ve been able to pull back if it were him that had done it instead and he’s grateful that at least Jordan had recognised that Adam was the best choice.
Adam’s watching him expectantly, waiting for him to say something, and he realises that he’s a little nervous and unsure how to begin what he wants to say. He doesn’t particularly care whether or not Adam and Jordan sort their shit out and end up together, but he does care about this unresolved whatever it is between them causing a slow but steady rift to open up within the team. And, he supposes he kind of cares about Jordan growing tired of it all and giving up, asking for a transfer or quitting completely. She’s been around for so long now it feels like she’s actually one of them, and Mason guesses it would kind of suck for her to not be around at all anymore.
“Yesterday-”
He barely starts his sentence before Adam is holding a hand up to silence him. A withered and pained expression crosses his face and Mason frowns at the sight of it, not having ever seen Adam looking so lost before.
“I would prefer not to discuss the events of yesterday.”
He says shortly, turning away from him again.
“Trust me, so would I but I think something needs to be said.”
“Nothing that has not already been said.”
“You know you- we could lose her over this, right?”
He tries, appealing to Adam’s desire to retain control over everything and keep them all working together efficiently. It seems to work, though Adam doesn’t seem to want to let him know that, but he sees his eyes shift sideways towards him for a split second before he removes his sunglasses from where they hang off the front of his coat and slides them over his eyes.
“I think you’re being a touch dramatic.”
“I think you’re being a touch naïve.”
He counters without thinking, and finally Adam turns to face him again.
“Excuse me, Agent?”
He’s not used to going up against Adam like this, and it’s happened far too many times than he’s comfortable with on this mission already, the last thing he wants to start another argument with him. Over a girl, no less. A human girl.
“I’m just saying. I don’t know if you did it deliberately or not, but you let her in yesterday and it’s messing with her.”
“I most certainly did not.”
Mason raises an eyebrow, knowing that Adam knows better than to question Mason’s ability to sense a struggle going on within a human.
“Like I said, maybe it wasn’t deliberate but you did and you need to deal with that because she’s starting to lose it.”
“You have spoken to her?”
“Yeah.”
“Today?”
“Just now, yeah.”
“And she still… I thought it would have faded by now.”
Adam groans, lifting a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose for a moment. Mason almost feels bad for him, but he knows there’s nothing he can do. This mess was started between Adam and Jordan, and so it’s up to Adam and Jordan to sort it out and get themselves back on track, even if only to dispel the hostility and awkwardness which has settled over the camp over the last twenty-four hours.
“Well, it hasn’t.”
He looks back over his shoulder when he hears movement coming from the tent to see Jordan emerging from it, a scowl still on her face when she looks over and sees the two of them talking. She looks as though she wants to march over to them and demand that they stop talking about her, but after staring at them for a long moment she just shakes her head and turns to walk in the other direction, disappearing behind the tent and into the woods.
Mason sighs, realising that he’s not going to get much more out of Adam now that Jordan’s up and about and makes to move back to his usual sentry post, but he pauses and turns back towards Adam once more before he goes.
“I ended it.”
“Ended what?"
“Me and Jordan, it’s done. It won’t be me standing in your way.”
He turns and leaves the team leader alone, knowing that if he sticks around he’s only going to hear Adam’s subtly nervous rambling about how their relationship ending doesn’t affect him in the slightest. He’s ended it with Jordan, he’s let Adam know, his involvement in their situation is over and now it’s all up to them.
--
Adam watches Mason walk away, a strange combination of annoyance, confusion and optimism bubbling away in his chest. It had been difficult to hide his expression upon learning that Mason and Jordan’s relationship is now over, even if he doesn’t know what kind of expression he would have shown. But the fact that Jordan can still feel him is troubling, and it all but proves that he had in fact let her in the day before. It was most certainly not deliberate, which just confuses him even more. How had it happened without him allowing it?
He knows that Mason’s right and he needs to talk to Jordan. Nothing will ever happen between them, he’s sure of it. She’s a member of his unit now, he is her commanding agent and nothing more, it would be highly inappropriate and somewhat dangerous for anything more to happen between them, but they do need to work out the hostility between them before she does quit or request a transfer, as Mason had suggested. The thought sticks in his mind, an unwelcome thought forcing feelings that he doesn’t want on him. He needs to put an end to it so he reluctantly makes his way over to the tent, to where he’d seen Jordan disappear to once she’d spotted him and Mason talking.
It takes him longer to find her than expected, long enough that he starts to worry that she’s ventured too far into the woods and been taken, but he finally spots her through the trees. She’s standing perfectly still, staring at something that’s blocked to him by the brush around her. He’s about to take another step towards her when he hears different footsteps, though Jordan remains fixed in place and he realises that she’s not alone. He marches hurriedly over to her, shoving foliage out of the way and then stopping just as dead still as she is, staring in shock at what she’s looking at.
It's a boy, he can't be much more than seven or eight years old. Finally Jordan moves, frowning over at Adam before turning her attention back to the boy as he stumbles clumsily on his way as though he doesn’t even notice that the two of them are there.
Adam takes another step towards him, trying to move into a position to see his face but the boy is looking down at the ground, shaggy brown curls hanging over the front of his face and blocking Adam’s view.
"Where is your family, child?"
He either doesn't hear Adam or is refusing to acknowledge him and Jordan jogs over to him before he can disappear any further into the trees.
"Hey, kid."
She rests a hand lightly on his shoulder and the boy stops walking, allowing Jordan to crouch down in front of him.
"Uh, Adam?"
Unease settles in the pit of Adam’s stomach as he marches over to take a look at the child himself, immediately understanding why Jordan appears so unsettled. Jordan pushes the boy’s hair back out of the way to offer a better view of his face. His eyes are wide open but milky white, black circles framing them against the grey shade of his skin. He’s incredibly skinny, his clothes are hanging off of him, thin arms and legs sticking out from the bottoms of his shorts and sleeves of his shirt and his face is drawn. He looks incredibly malnourished and Adam wonders how he’s even managing to stay on his feet enough to wander the woods as he is.
“I don’t think he can hear us.”
He says quietly, resting a hand on Jordan’s shoulder to get her attention as she keeps trying to talk to the boy. She glances at his hand, then up at his face with a slight scowl, obviously still mad at him despite what’s happening at the moment, but whatever conversation they need to have is going to have to wait until they’ve worked out where this child came from and what is wrong with him.
“What the hell happened to him?”
She asks finally, getting to her feet and grabbing at the boy’s arm gently as he immediately tries to keep walking again once she’s out of his way.
“I don’t know.”
He answers after a moment. He walks in a slow circle around the boy, stopping once he’s behind him and again pushing his hair out of the way to reveal a set of what look to be sharp tooth marks in a perfectly formed circle at the base of the boy’s neck.
“Look at this.”
Jordan leans over the child to inspect the marks herself, her free hand lifting to the side of her neck and Adam feels a flash of guilt as her fingertips drag over the puncture marks in her own skin.
“Vampire?”
She glances up at him, her expression softening slightly when she sees the guilt written all over him before he pulls his face back into line and shakes his head.
“Not in a circle like that. And it’s incredibly difficult to draw blood from that part of the neck.”
He answers, pushing away his thoughts about what he’d done to Jordan so as to deal with what’s presented in front of them right now.
“Erlking? Nate said he normally takes kids, right?”
Adam nods, shifting his gaze back down to the boy and letting his hair fall back down over his neck before gently pushing Jordan’s hand from his arm to take hold of it himself.
“Most likely. Go and get the others, I’ll stay with the boy. Maybe he can lead us to somewhere that will be of use in locating who did this to him.”
Jordan stares at him hesitantly for a moment, her eyes darting nervously to the woods around him before she nods slowly and turns to run back towards the camp, and he can hear her calling for the rest of Unit Bravo as she goes.
He looks back down at the boy sympathetically, still standing still with his head drooped and hands hanging lifelessly by his side. His arm feels tiny in Adam’s grip, as though he could snap it with the slightest squeeze and his skin is icy cold. His struggles are over it would seem, and Adam can only hope that he didn’t suffer too much at the hands of the Erlking, and that with his fate they might be able to locate the creature and bring him to justice.

National Dog Day
No one can win hearts like man’s best friend and in honor of this bond between man and canine, Dog Day is celebrated.
Take time to appreciate the love and value that dogs bring to our daily lives, and to do your bit for homeless and abused dogs the world over. From keeping us safe working for the emergency services to supporting people who are blind, deaf, or disabled, dogs do a lot for us humans, and this is an opportunity to give something back.
Learn about Dog Day
No matter how little money and how few possessions you own, having a dog makes you rich.
Dog Day has been created so that all breeds of dogs are celebrated; mixed and pure. The day helps to galvanize the public so that they can recognise the number of dogs that must be rescued on a yearly basis, from pure breed rescuers, rescues, and public shelters.
The day is all about paying tribute to these incredible animals who work selflessly to bring comfort, keep us safe, and save lives. Every day, these animals put their lives on the line. There are dogs that protect our safety and freedom by detecting drugs and bombs, as well as those that pull victims from wreckages and tragic situations. Plus, we have dogs for the disabled, blind, and law enforcement. From these heroic dogs to our family friends, these dogs hold special places in our lives, and so it is only right that we honor them.
Amazing facts about dogs
Let’s take a look at some incredible facts about dogs to help you get a better understanding of these amazing creatures. Did you know, for example, that the most successful hunter in the world is the African Hunting Dog? These dogs are successful in 50 to 70 percent of their hunts. They even hold the Guinness World Record for it. Another Guinness World Record goes to the Saluki for being the oldest dog breed. This breed actually dates back to 329BC. Back then, in Ancient Egypt, these dogs were kept as Royal Pets. There are rumors that this breed can be traced back even further, as there are carvings located in the South of Iraq of a dog that looks very much like this breed and they can be dated back to 7,000 BC. Pretty incredible, right?
Did you know that dogs have three eyelids? This is something a lot of people do not realize about their furry friends. The third lid is a nictitating membrane, which is known as a haw. It is important for ensuring the eye is lubricated and protected. There are also some distinct features that are associated with specific breeds of dogs. For instance, Shar-Peis and Chow Chows have black tongues. Also, 30 percent of Dalmatians are deaf in one ear. Also, did you know that if a cheetah and a greyhound were to go head-to-head in a long-distance race, a greyhound would win? This is because greyhounds boast exceptional long-distance speeds. They can keep up a pace of 35mph for as long as seven miles.
Inspiring hero dogs
It is only right that we give a mention to some of the world’s most inspiring hero dogs in honor of Dog Day. In fact, this is something that we like to do every Dog Day – read up about tales where dogs have done incredible things – and we recommend that you do the same too. It can be incredibly eye-opening and very heartwarming.
Let’s begin with Killian, a Labrador Retriever who saved his little friend from prolonged abuse. Jordan and Benjamin Hope had hired a babysitter for their son after spending some time online researching. They were so confident with their selection that they decided to hire the babysitter for five months. However, Alexis Khan was not the incredible babysitter she made out to be. She would slap the baby and constantly scold him. The abuse would have gone on for at least five months if their dog, Killian, did not warn the couple. Whenever the babysitter would arrive, Killian would stick close to the baby and display aggressive behavior toward the babysitter. It caused concern, and the parents decided they would hide an iPhone underneath the sofa to record what was going on. This revealed everything, and if it was not for Killian, they would never have known.
Another amazing story is about a Golden Retriever called Toby. When his owner, Debbie Parkhurst, got a big chunk of apple lodged in her throat, she couldn’t get it out and had to beat her own chest to try and dislodge the apple, but to no avail. Her two-year-old Golden Retriever noticed her despair, and jumped up and down on her stomach to force the apple out, saving her life! There are plenty of other stories just like this only, so we definitely recommend giving them a read. You will be amazed.
History of Dog Day
The love of a dog is a pure thing. He gives you a trust which is total. You must not betray it.
You may be wondering who started this incredible day, and we have Colleen Paige to thank for it. Collen is an Animal Advocate and a Pet & Family Lifestyle Expert. The day marks the date she adopted her first family dog, Sheltie. The day has been adopted around the world, and it is even written into legislation in New York, showing just how important it is.
How to celebrate Dog Day
Recommendations for ways to celebrate Dog Day range from adopting a dog from a rescue home to giving your dog a holistic spa treatment or even buying yourself and your dog matching t-shirts.
The National Dog Day Foundation supports all breeds and varieties of dogs and discourages purchasing from unethical backyard breeders and puppy mills; instead, support reputable breeders or adopt from rescue homes.
Dog Day has been supported by such high profile individuals as former US President George W Bush whose own dog, Barney the Scottish terrier has his own website and has even starred in a series of short films. So celebrate dogs and their varied talents today, both by taking the time to treat the dogs in your own life and by supporting dogs in need.
You can also celebrate Dog Day by making a donation to an animal charity of your choice. You will probably find that you have a local dog charity or shelter in your local area. All you need to do is a quick search online, and you will discover more about the amazing charities out there that are doing incredible work. There are charities and rescue shelters for dogs without a home, as well as organizations that organize dogs for the deaf, as well as therapy dogs and guide dogs. Making a donation to one of these organizations can make a massive difference.
Of course, you may decide that the best way to do this is to fundraise. In order to fundraise, you purely need an idea that gets everyone involved so that awareness and money can be made. It does not have to be a complicated idea. This is why fun runs and bake sales are so effective. You simply need to make sure that you have something that the community can really get behind. Alternatively, you could decide to take on a challenge and ask people to sponsor you, such as a skydive or walking a certain distance. The options are endless.
It is worth mentioning that fundraising does not have to involve an event of any kind. There are plenty of other ways you can fundraise. For example, you may decide to get a T-shirt personalized and sell them. This could be a T-shirt with some sort of animal quote on it in honor of Dog Day. you could then donate all of the proceeds, or at least a percentage of them, to a dog charity or organization of your choosing.
It is not all about donating money, either. There are a lot of organizations that would appreciate your time just as much. Why not spend the day working with an animal charity or organization? If you are going to be able to donate more of your time in the future, we are sure that this would be greatly appreciated.
Needless to say, another great way to honor Dog Day would be to give a dog a home that really needs it. Your life really does change once you have a dog, and for the better! However, bringing a dog into the family is not for everyone and you may feel that you are not at the stage in your life whereby this is right for you. Plus, you may simply not be able to. Some landlords, for example, do not allow their tenants to have any pets in their homes. If this is the case, why not sponsor a dog instead? By doing this, you will donate a small amount of money per week or month and in return you will help to provide a dog with the home they deserve. You will get updates throughout the year so that you know what your money is going towards and how your dog is doing.
Another great way to spend Dog Day is by watching a dog movie. There are so many great films about dogs, so you should have no trouble finding one that you have not watched before. One of our favorites is the old-classic Old Yeller. If you have not seen this before, we definitely recommend watching it. It is an exemplary coming of age tale. You will go on an emotional journey as you understand the incredible bond between humans and their furry best friends. Of course, you can go for something more fun and less tear-jerking, such as 101 Dalmations. Some other films that we recommend looking into include Heart Of A Dog, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit, Lassie Come Home, Lady And The Tramp, Lassie, Isle Of Dogs, Togo, My Dog Tulip, Bolt, Sounder, The Incredible Journey, and Megan Leavey. The latter is about the bond between a young marine corporal and how she saves lives because of the bond she has with her military combat dog. It’s a great movie, and there are many, many more, so get the popcorn in and spend the day binging on some dog films.

Swan Lake (Ballet) - The Royal Ballet - 2018 (Pro-Shot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Marianela Núñez, Vadim Muntagirov, Bennet Gartside, Elizabeth McGorian, Alexander Campbell, Francesca Hayward, Akane Takada

Often mislabelled as being September 12th, 1982, HOWEVER, that is when it aired on PBS, not when it was recorded. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street - Manila & Singapore - October 11, 2019 (Opening Night) (Highlights) (andflyingaway's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Jett Pangan (Sweeney Todd), Lea Salonga (Mrs. Lovett), Gerald Santos (Anthony Hope), Mikkie Bradshaw-Volante (Johanna), Andrew Fernando (Judge Turpin), Luigi Quesada (Tobias Ragg), Arman Ferrer (Beadle Bamford), Ima Castro (Beggar Woman), Nyoy Volante (Adolfo Pirelli), Dean Rosen (Jonas Fogg), Christine Flores, Emeline Celis Guinid, Jep Go, Kevin Guiman, Sarah Facuri, Steven Conde NOTES: Highlights: Johanna, Kiss Me, and Act 2 until part of Johanna (Reprise). A bunch of clips from the opening night of Sweeney Todd in Manila! Shot 3rd row at the balcony. I shot more but they were too zoomed in that they’re more likely to be considered audio so I decided not to include them. I was very near the usher and they were really strict. The phone was in my jacket pocket so I couldn’t see anything and I was scared of getting caught, so a lot is very zoomed and I’m really sorry about that. I absolutely loved the set, it was reimagined into a more modern almost gangster like setting. Shot in 4k on my phone. Please gift out to anyone who asks. Tag Thingy
Thanks @silent--sonata for indulging my terrible sleeping habits XD
(fyi this will probably be unnecessarily long and rambly, so it’s going under a cut (EDIT: whelp the song list got a little out of hand, I’d apologize if I were even remotely sorry))
Rules: Answer 17 questions & tag 17 people you want to get to know better
Nickname: Cheese (or Lactose Wedge, or Dairy Product of Unspecified Origin and Purpose)
Zodiac Sign: Gemini!
Height: 160.5 cm/5′3″ (Bubbles I refuse to believe you’re actually that much taller than me)
Hogwarts house: Somewhere between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff allegedly, both of which I’d be honored to get sorted into, but honestly I’d just be stoked to get sorted at all
Last thing I googled: I think it was something along the lines of “how to speed up audio playback in GarageBand,” but but my train of thought was derailed before I actually looked at any of the results so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ (and on a related note, thanks again for the magical audio editing @imperiousheiress!)
Song stuck in my head: The end credits to Legacy of the Wizard (which is SUCH a jam, thank you for enlightening me @jessicafish) Following and followers: 227 (goodness just looking at that number is stress-inducing) and...104?! When the HECK did you all get here??? I think just last summer I was happily floating about in the 50′s. Anyways, to anyone I have not said hello, hello! Hope you enjoy your stay, and I am sincerely sorry if you expected Quality Original Content, or even just regularly scheduled other people’s content. Sadly, neither of these things tend to happen here.
Amount I sleep: During the school year it’s usually anywhere between 30 minutes and 6 hours (DON’T EVEN START BUBBLES YOU HAVE NO RIGHT), usually landing in the 3/4 hour ranges if I’m smart about it, but now that I am on Unofficial Break, it’s usually at least around 6 hours (except today was 3 because Avatar is an excellent show and the weirdos in this house have regularly scheduled breakfast at 9-something every morning). Sadly my sleep schedule can only be forced to tolerate normalcy for so long before careening back in the other direction, so we’ll see if this is just a blip or if we’re back to normal mid-Atlantic Ocean hours!
Lucky number(s): I wouldn’t say these are necessarily favorite numbers, but I do like 2 and 9. But come to think of it, second attempts at Official Things do tend to go better for me than first attempts, so maybe there’s some merit there after all! Dream Job: Don’t think I’m really cut out for dreaming anymore, haha (unless you are a theoretical future employer in which case I am Extremely Full of Ambition and Passion). The bed-adjacent metaphor has been made, and not to brag, but I can sleep on pretty much any surface. Currently studying my Not Favorite aspect of STEM (was there ever a favorite or did I just like being good at things sometimes) and learning how to People™ properly (and also learning a gazillion convoluted drug names like what the heck dude, did you just fall asleep on your typewriter coming up with these), so I’ll take whatever place hires me and pays me enough not to depend on my parents for everything, I suppose. In an ideal world, that would entail a job where I could make friends, and even more importantly, a job where my shortcomings would not cause Massive and Irreparable Harm, but I don’t think this line of work really meshes with that last one, so I guess I’ll either have to get my shit together™ extremely soon or fake my death, adopt an alias, and flee to a completely new place with no ties whatsoever before trying to get another, less high stakes job.
(Though I guess, less cynically, I like helping people well enough? And stories are fun! Maybe there could’ve been something with that. Not that there still can’t be, mind, but there’s still a long way to go between Here and There)
Wearing: Black shorts. Navy t-shirt. Brown some-specific-kind-of-jacket-I-forgot-the-name-of jacket. Is it summer? Is it fall? Am I in middle school? Who can say, but they are COMFY so sadly I have no cares to give
Favourite song(s): way way WAY too many to list here, and I do not have them all organized in a handy playlist separately, but to name a few (and these are not necessarily the MOST favorite okay, it doesn’t mean I don’t love stuff not on this list, it means you can’t force me to pick between my children and I am going to find at least one quick thing from a few things I like before I need to hit post and go back to looking like I’m being studious, and also things I think you should listen to right now, but for everything I’ve linked assuming I mean the whole OST), here’s a spam of links in no particular order:
LoZ Wind Waker - The Great Sea (aka the epitome of optimism)
Undertale - NGAHHH!! (I was about to link more but then I realized it’d be the whole soundtrack lol)
LoZ Breath of the Wild - Hateno Village (Night)
A:tLA - Peace (bad call BAD CALL NOW I HAVE EMOTIONS)
Legend of Korra - Final Scene/Ending Theme (MISTAKES WERE MADE MISTAKES WERE MADE)
Kung Fu Panda - Oogway Ascends (I feel like I’m taking you on a whole little album journey now XD)
PMD: Explorers of Sky - Dialga’s Fight to the Finish (aka the Gotta Shower Fast song)
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Pursuit ~ Cornered (aka the HURRY UP AND PACK UR SHIT YOUR FLIGHT LEAVES IN THREE HOURS song)
Apollo Justice: A New Trial Is In Session (very underrated soundtrack imo) and also Apollo Justice: Telling the Truth (because these two are very closely associated in my head and it’s getting harder and harder to narrow things down so maybe I should stop lol)
Your Name: Katawaredoki (in which I am forcibly thrown heart first into the bedroom of my second apartment at approximately 12-something A.M.)
Digimon Adventure 01: Butterfly (MASSIVE 90′s childhood anime feels, and also Last Summer Before Everything Went to Shit feels (on a general scale I mean, not personal))
Pokémon: Lugia’s Song multitrack cover by Jordan Moore (would that I could have a talent of that musical talent)
Pokémon the First Movie: Tears of Life (great now I’m on a Pokémon music spiral GUESS IT’S CHILDHOOD NOSTALGIA HOURS NOW)
PMD: Blue Rescue Team - Farewell and Run Away/Fugitives (you CANNOT make me choose between these guys okay, my brain WILL explode, and whoops now I want to link the whole ost)
Palette by A Dear Friend (wink wonk)
Pokémon: Alpha Sapphire - Fortree City (wow talk about mood whiplash)
Detective Conan: Main Theme (I can’t find the specific version since there are so many, but it’s a Good Theme)
Super Smash Bros.: Brawl - Opening Theme
Pokémon Colosseum - Relic Forest
Song for Lindsay by Andrew Boysen Jr. (oh great now it’s time for marching band feelings I guess)
Mt. Everest by Rossano Galante
Deltarune - Field of Hopes and Dreams and A Town Called Hometown (orchestrated) (aka the Lots of Work To Do song) and You Can Always Come Home and Don’t Forget (hey guess what I wrote a bunch of fake extra verses for) (also it looks my pathetic attempts at narrowing things down are getting even more pathetic so I’ll wrap up soon XD)
Guild Wars 2 - Fear Not This Night (never actually played this myself but my friend got me addicted to the music)
Lord of the Rings - May It Be (Enya) (aaaand now I miss choir, THANKS BUBBLES)
Lion King - Can You Feel the Love Tonight (Multilingual) by Travys Kim (aka how I remembered how fun these things are)
Original Song by Anonymous
(The urge to add all the other songs I’m not adding is so strong but I’ve got so much work to do so just assume I mean all Nintendo music from any game I’ve played, all Ghibli movie music, every musical I’ve ever heard, and even more)
Random fact:
Apparently as early as the 17th century, you could guess that a child would have a shortened life span if their foreheads tasted salty. Yes, there is a specific reason, and yes, you may already know what it is, and thankfully no, that life span projection no longer holds true, assuming access to Modern Medicine!
Favourite Authors: Okay I have not read enough various books of enough various authors to be able to answer this, so I’m just gonna go with a few books instead. They are not necessarily all-time favorites, but I enjoyed reading them very much at the time and more often than not go back to them for comfort reads: The Martian, any of first three Harry Potter books, and The Rise of Kiyoshi. (That last one’s not really a comfort read but I am drowning in Loving Kiyoshi juice so here we are)
Favourite Animal Noises: Certain kinds of birds (UNLESS it’s some ungodly hour of the morning and you’re trying to sleep)? Ooh, and crickets!
Aesthetic: A slob, but like...a comfy slob. An incredibly disorganized hermit who is happy to mill about in the uncontrolled entropy. (Are we talking about what aesthetic I give off, or what I like to look at, visually? Because I like space, and water, and mountains, and forests, and forests ON mountains, OOH and forests on mountains at night where you can see space, perhaps reflected in a body of water. Or just water, idk. Different things are pretty to look at at different times)
WELL THAT ONLY TOOK FOREVER SORRY FOR THE OBSCENE LENGTH
@pachelbelsheadcanon @averybritishbumblebee @shingeki-no-korra @sailorlock @yeswevegotavideo @soultheta @queenerdloser @ifeelbetterer @rogueofdragons @peppervl @amadness2method @mutalune and anybody else who wants to do this! This isn’t seventeen, and I don’t know if any of you have already done it/been tagged, but I hear people moving around upstairs so that means this break is over XD. And ABSOLUTELY no pressure to actually do this, this is pretty much just me wishing you well! (and YOU of course, my dear reader! I hope everything’s going all right, or if it’s not, that it does soon)

Dan Handler & Neil Patrick Harris’s
A Series of Mostly Unrelated Coincidences that Totally Doesn’t have Anything to do with a Giant Conspiracy, We Promise Review
So I finished up this delightfully campy reboot of a children’s book series a week or so ago and I figured that I’d share my thoughts.
To start this off, the production is stacked. Neil Patrick Harris and Nathan Fillion as star-crossed adversaries, make me feel like this is the Dr. Horrible reunion that we all desperately need. Also Patrick Warburton is the narrator. So yeah, we have Dr. Horrible, Hal Jordan and Brock Sampson all in the same property. That alone is a pretty strong selling point.
The set work is all quite delightful, it gets bonus points from me due to how bizarre some of the venues that they adapted from the books get. When a run-down carnival in the middle of nowhere is one of your more normal locations, you have something special here.
The premise of the series is a coming of age arc for the Baudelaire orphans after their parents are murdered in an act of arson and a villainous distant relative, Count Olaf (NPH) covets the children for their inherited fortune. The children wind up bouncing from guardian to guardian trying to evade Olaf before eventually going on the run and beginning to take morally ambiguous actions.
The series is split into 3 seasons, the first spanning the children's time at Olaf Manor, Uncle Monty’s Herpetology Lab and Residence™, Aunt Josephine’s House on a cliffside overlooking an inland freshwater sea and a Lumber Mill.
The second details the children’s adventures at boarding school, a penthouse apartment in the city, at a rural and fundamentalist village, a hospital not-up-to-code and at the aforementioned carnival.
The third gets a little more zany, with the children scaling a mountain to staying on a submarine, to working at a hotel run by identical brothers (one noble, one wicked). They get stranded on an island too.
The performances are delightful, and it’s played for camp as much as humanly possible as a stylistic choice. Olaf, by profession, is a terrible actor, giving an excuse for NPH musical numbers. Also Neil sings the theme song, which has a different verse pertaining to whatever specific episode you’re watching. It’s a very nice touch.
Honestly, all three seasons are worth watching, even if you haven’t read the books. In fact, this adaption does a better job of clarifying things than the books themselves did. (The screenplay is by the author, so that mean’s it’s canon for you ASoUE diehards.)
I personally think that the second season is the strongest. It has the three best Olaf alias’ back to back to back, in Coach Genghis, Günther: A Very Handsome Man, and Detective Dupin. It’s also the part of the series where the building of intrigue is at its most balanced.
While I’m on the topic of outfits, Esme Squalor is extra AF, and it’s perfect.
The first season is, in context, the most reserved. This is considering a house full of snakes, an inland hurricane and workplace accidents.
The third season gets a little too cloak and dagger to work as well as the second. It’s all about conspiracy and secret missions. Even still, The Penultimate Peril stuff is awesome.
You can tell immediately the care that was put into making as much of the series as possible done correctly. For example the great unknown is a leviathan, much like my childhood headcanon. Also the significance of The Sugar Bowl is explained, but Esme’s obsession over it isn’t too terribly justified, but I think that was intentional as it’s in character.
The series gets away with serial arson and grisly murders from pure camp alone. What’s also interesting is that Olaf loses his threat as the children mature. Near the end of things, Olaf is only really dangerous because he has poisonous mushrooms.
It’s a good watch though, lot of foreshadowing for the later stuff in the earlier seasons and a good re-imagining of the series.
Some thoughts...
The Hook-Handed Man is the best.
The waiter and Mr. Poe’s assistant make the best duo.
Dewey is a myth.
I both like the way that the schism was handled and also wish it was left a little more mysterious. Having Olaf be the linchpin seemed a little much and it doesn’t really explain the Quagmire Triplet’s involvement in things.
I like the way that the high court members were handled a lot.
Coach Genghis Impression, “I want you to STAND UP, and show me how high. You are.”
