monoscrpg dev log #13
the forth area has been completed, and afterwards i decided that 6 areas for the game was a bit *too* much, and since that's scrapped and no longer being worked on, the final area of monoscrpg is being developed currently. yes, you read that right!! areas in monoscrpg honestly dont take that long to complete so the game might be out VERY soon!!!! (note that i am bad at making promises and i might forgor to work on the game for 1029380129834 years so dont hold me to that, but still be aware that the game might release soon)
when the game releases, im planning on also releasing the game's source code so that anyone can look at it and see how it all works, and maybe even make mods! (which i doubt will happen but hey you never know)
here's another teaser for you guys :3
i dont really know what this is either tbh

Long ass post, but what did we expect. There’s a lot to unpack here. For starters, the general environment in this section is incredibly well done, not to mention the general atmosphere is pulled off incredibly well. Truth be told, despite this section being absolutely soul crushing, I really love how everything it written and handled here. (Bonus points because we can actually see Resh’an sitting in the corner and watching, as he can’t interfere)
I will say, Seraï during this segment just losing it and throwing the Vial of Time at the Dweller of Strife is a fun concept, and I was so excited to see what would happen on my first playthrough. It does hit differently now that I know what’s happening when I’m going in now.
(On a side note, does this lead into something in The Messenger? I haven’t beaten it yet)
These lines are also quite interesting, even with what happens. Maybe I’m just finding it funny because the Dweller of Strife is just one large eyeball? Either way, despite the actual fight bringing my death count up to 13 (I had 15 individual KOs during the second attempt as well) what comes after these lines is the hardest part of this section.
See, the problem is, Garl is my favorite party member :( I should’ve seen this coming a mile away in my first playthrough, as I have awful luck with favorite characters (roughly 90% of my favorite characters that are important to the main plot get killed off for some reason??) however, his death, while sad, I know is a major catalyst in the plot. I could probably make multiple paragraph long posts just about how it works. As much as it pains me to go through this segment, I can appreciate the fact that his death does have impact on the plot and that it isn’t just done for shock value.
Also the devs really want to make their players cry with the “On Borrowed Time” chapter, huh? He just wants to help his friends one last time. I am in shambles. This game is evil (I currently have 140 hours logged and this is my third playthrough)

Hi guys I’m back again lol (Dev log #14)
Hiiiii guyssssss, guess who’s back
from PRISON
*Thunder*
I’m almost done with the semesterrrrrr
*Thunder*
I barely passed my classessss
*Thunder*
I’ve been sleeping for 10 hours since like Friday because April and March exhausted meeeee
*Thunder*
I’m so damn done. Well, not done with the game, but done with life. I know employment is going to be hard and I don’t want to be someone’s housewife. I would have said take me to Mars but I can barely survive when temperatures drop to 16 degrees celsius and if I end up going there and surviving then that means the problems will come back to me. Sigh.
Well, Game dev time. Since the hiatus, I literally did nothing. I did finish Kyu’s base sprites, Father Figure’s base sprites and started on Priyah’s, but I’ll be honest I haven’t done much else because classes were getting tougher and tougher until pretty much I couldn’t do anything else except eat sleep and study. I think they have the least sprites because they have no line boil (I’d like to think the line boil means they’re getting affected by the game breaking down (I’d like to think the father figure is so damn powerful and immortal he literally sleeps through all the crazy shit that happens because that’s basically all what he does in the games except for punting his kid for eating chips loudly or disturbing his sleep)). So, what am I going to do? Continue Priyah’s sprites, then maybe do Orby’s, which probably would take me a bit longer because they would have line boil. Then maybe the diner cast, because Tiny Terson doesn’t deserve his own base sprites. If there is 1 million Tiny Terson haters I am one of them. If there is only 1 Tiny Terson hater that is me. If there are 0 Tiny Person haters then I am dead. I’ll start with making the game actually playable after all the base sprites are done because right now it’s just a sandbox with nothing to do.
I have put the demo to make you guys see what I’m talking about (it’s an HTML5 game. It’s really glitchy for some reason and some scenes for some reason can’t load the assets in smhhhhh. I’m going to make the full game downloadable when it’s out for windows because I have a feeling you can’t save on browser. Sorry Mac users. Not sorry. Also, I can't guarantee the downloadable thing at the bottom will run tbh.)
Here is the link to the demo: https://yal-armstong.itch.io/scaperat-the-demo
Is it exactly referencing if you’re taking like 2 lines of a song's lyrics? I don’t know but this song has been inadvertently been influencing the way I make jokes lmao deadass whenever I say anything about feeling sad this is how I expect the recipient of my message to read it like.
youtube
This song literally was what my early teens was like, like the basic lyrics that get the point across and the "emo" instrumental. Which honestly, it makes sense because this song was written by a 13 year old (which honestly, good for her). I’ll be honest, I really only miss my early teens a little bit because that's when I realized I wanted to be a game dev, but I didn't actually try making games until I was 19, which honestly thank god, because I just know I would make something angsty and cringey at 15. Also I LITERALLY DIDN’T KNOW THIS SONG WAS A JAMSTER RINGTONE?! I literally saw the music video first and was like “holy shit now this is some good shit” (I was 11 ok, I wanted to look like her so damn bad back then but I knew my parents would make fun of me)
I swear to god if any of you laugh at me because I used picmix instead of blingee I would have used it but literally could not sign up for blingee. We live in a society/j

dev log - jan 13 2023
EEK hi again everyone! it's been a little while since i've last posted, so this will be one of my weekly updates on Vanguard! ALSO ALSO WOW THANK YOU FOR 400+ FOLLOWERS i feel like my post for 300 followers was just the other day. crazy stuff. thanks for all your support, as always!
i've been slowly chipping away at writing when i have the free time, but i am really unsure when the next full update will be. my goal for the next update is to fix the character creator, give the Vanguard a full profile with their traits, and of course finish the chapter. in the meantime, i will try to post any art, excerpts, and tidbits about the story.
as for something coming soon...i'm in the process of making a character head canon voice post! so far i have Nia, Vera, and Emilio. i have clear ideas of what Vio and Kiera sound like, but Charles and Cirrus will be a little harder to find a voice for.
anyways. i'll probably post another art piece within the next few days, and an excerpt from chapter one shortly after this post!

Remembering dada moni Ashok Kumar on his birth anniversary (13/11). Ashok Kumar, originally Kumudlal Ganguly, was born on 13 October 1911. He was a remarkable figure in Indian cinema, gaining iconic status through his natural acting style which was a fresh introduction to Hindi films. His impact was most profound during the black-and-white film era of the 1940s and 50s, where he was celebrated as the first superstar and the initial lead actor to take on anti-hero roles. His ability to reinvent his career allowed him a lengthy and successful journey as a character actor, making him a revered member of the cinematic Ganguly family. His accolades include the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1988 and the Padma Bhushan in 1999, both awarded by the Indian government in recognition of his significant contributions to the film industry.
His beginnings in the acting world came unexpectedly while working as a lab assistant at Bombay Talkies. The 1936 film Jeevan Naiya saw him step into the lead role after the original actor eloped with his co-star, marking the start of his acting career, albeit reluctantly. His partnership with Devika Rani, starting with the socially impactful film Achhut Kanya in the same year, resulted in a series of successful films, making them a popular on-screen pair of that time.
Though initially overshadowed by Devika Rani, Ashok Kumar's star rose as he starred opposite Leela Chitnis in films like Kangan (1939), Bandhan (1940), and Azad (1940). His role in the 1943 film Kismet, directed by Gyan Mukherjee, marked him as the first anti-hero in Indian cinema, and its success at the box office solidified his status as a cinema superstar. His popularity soared, as depicted in Manto's words describing the frenzy of his public appearances. In the post-Kismet era, Ashok Kumar enjoyed a series of box office hits like Chal Chal Re Naujawan (1944), Shikari (1946), and Mahal (1949), among others, establishing him as a bankable star.
He also ventured into film production, contributing to the success of Bombay Talkies and nurturing the careers of future stars like Dev Anand and Raj Kapoor through films like Ziddi (1948) and Neelkamal (1947), respectively. His later years saw a reduction in film roles but he made memorable appearances on television, notably hosting India's first soap opera Hum Log and acting in the detective TV serial Tehkikaat. His final film role was in 1997’s Aankhon Mein Tum Ho. Besides acting, he was a dedicated painter and a qualified homeopath, known for his miracle cures. With a legacy spanning over 275 films and more than 30 Bengali dramas, Ashok Kumar’s multi-faceted contributions to Indian entertainment and society remain etched in history.
What are your favourite Ashok Kumar films?

Howdy tumblr!
Im here to introduce you all to Wario in Generic RPG!
A silly fangame i made that pokes fun at traditional rpg tropes, inspired by Mario and Liigi games, as well as UNDERTALE. Its mainly a comedy based rpg, but has a deep and surprisingly engaging story hidden within! The game also has a mostly original soundtrack, with around 13 songs as of now. Chapter 1 of the game is out now, with chapter 2’s demo planned to release this summer. You can try the game here:
I will post development logs here on tumblr, as well as the official Wario in Generic RPG discord server. Trailers and the OST are posted on my youtube channel.

Dev Log June 13
In a previous place I worked, one of our lead testers also published Friday updates, but usually theirs was a witty snippet, a subtly applicable Dilbert comic (before any of the controversy, mind you), and then a quick report on bug count and performance changes. I guess I'm 0 for 3. Anyway. The current development focus is on getting that long-awaited Campaign up and running. Which is mostly just menu and asset work at this point. Speaking of menus:
(It's not exactly final - the Streak and High Score are missing, the other stage sets aren't in there yet, and there will need to be a way to switch between different campaign "worlds", but you get the gist) Campaign levels are a bunch of re-mixes of stages from Main Course, just with additional modifiers in place that change the way the game is played. You play a randomized order, and as you get farther, the time added to complete the stage gets smaller and more modifiers get piled on at once, but the multiplier on how much cash you earn grows too. The Menu design for a lot of these is a little tricky. I subscribe to Masahiro Sakurai's and other designer's ideals of the fewest button presses to gameplay as possible, but have to play it extra careful with keeping the game well-suited to Controller, Mouse, and Touch all at the same time. We could, of course, had the left panel show first, and then whenever you select a stage set, the right panel would pop up. However, the requirements section throws a wrench in this a bit. In order to play the remixed versions of the stages, you first need to clear the recipes that it uses without any modifiers in the standard Main Course mode that already exists in the game. You can click the little button there, and it'll bring up the stage select to give it a go. There's also this idea of 'crumbs' that you can earn for beating specific recipe stages (in a later update, not this one), so checking that has to be extremely streamlined for whenever somebody is searching for one particular type they need. So side-by-side it is. However, this side-to-side panel has a slightly different issue now. How do you switch between the two with the Controller? You can select your world with A, I suppose, but that would imply that pressing B would bring you back, and the hotkey is already in the top-left to go back an entire menu screen. We already hit this issue when attempting to design the Cookie Jar menu, and opted to just make it so that you have to press Start to being the stage with no way to normally highlight it. Which you can already see the hotkey here. So, what I'm thinking (and this is not entirely final), is to do away with the per-recipe shortcut buttons, and just have a single button for the entire set that opens up the Main Course selection menu modified to only show those specific sets. It's one more interaction, but one that everyone will perform a lot less often, as eventually, you'll have all of the recipes unlocked, but will still keep unlocking new Campaign level sets that use them. The standard Main Course menu will still exist to be able to pick out from any of the sets to do time trials. I suppose this in itself is kind of a warning for a lot of aspiring developers - UX is going to eat up more than 50%, maybe even closer to 75% of your development time, and if you screw it up, it'll turn people off of the game despite how wonderful everything else around it may be. Any time I hear complaints about Zelda TotK, it's always about the materials selection list. Never mind you can literally glue a rocket to a sheet of plywood and use that to launch a horse into orbit - it's clunky to pull out that plywood, so a lot of players dropped it and missed out on the joys of the impromptu equestrian space program.

Tiny Terson x Rose from the Titanic movie (Dev log #13)
DARRRRRLIIIIIINNNNNNGGGGGGG!!!!! GUESS WHO’S BACK FROM JAILLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!! (HEHEHE)
(Rose and Tiny Terson r in luv and stea; cers 2getha..... goalz <3 /j)
I’m here now. Well, I’ll be honest. Other than the fact there probably might be a ghost following me around on campus now (the lights in my bathroom act strange, birds are landing close to where I am and stare at me and sometimes it feels like someone is touching my head), there’s nothing eventful in my life. Well, I went to an Easter party. They said we’d be back at 6, but they were wrong. We came back at 8 and I fell asleep IMMEDIATELY. Aaaanyways, if you saw my last post on this blog, this is the only dev blog for April. Unless I forget, which quite honestly, is unlikely. Yeahhhhhhh, the reasons are on that post. I'll see y'all in May, and for now enjoy this one for the time being.
Aaaaanyways, game stuff. Party Person’s base sprites are done. Halloween Herson’s sprites are almost done. I didn’t think her design through, shame on me, because it’s a pain to animate her, lol. As a punishment for her existence (Well, I think I did all the GASA4AM characters dirty but I think I did her and Dummy the worst), she gets no walk cycle! she just teleports now. Dummy was feeling generous that day and gave her their ability. After hers are done I think I’ll start if Father Figure’s.
Anyways, I guess this isn’t a reference, but there is one GASA4AM head cannon I like and that’s trans femme Cashier. I don't remember where I found this headcannon, but I don’t know, it makes sense to me. I wish I came around this headcannon earlier, because I would have made her real but for now she’s an egg.
(I'd like to think after Xandra gets deleted the Cashier would take inspiration in the way she does her hair and makeup... that's her way of coping with Xandra's death now haha.)

2024 is almost over
(I originally posted this on Newgrounds so that's why most of the collab stuff is Newgrounds stuff)
I did the same thing last year and I think this is going to be some kind of annual thing in December now. I started this trying to make a 3D model to try it out as I wanted to try 3D animation, and ending with me being about 3/4 away from finishing my first album with vocals. I tried doing a crap ton this year which is why I haven't really done much as turns out that leads to something called "burnout" which I'm running for my life to avoid but I keep slowing down because "oooooo cool collab on the NGAP discord server!".
A list of every collab/jam that I did this year:
Pixel Day (did last year)
Sketch Collab (done since 2022)
Secret Santa (done since 2021)
Itch Godot Game Jam
Itch Pixel Game Jam
Itch Lospec Jam
Wii Art Collab
Halloween competition
The Nemgrounds Brainrot Scam Ad Collab that's still not out
Battle Of The Bands
NGAP Megacollab
Radio Collab
Art Inspired Music Competition
Pride Month Collab
Black And Orange Collab that's not out yet
Sandwich Collab
Voice Acting thing for UnculteredMutt from the NGP Discord Server that's not out yet
Voice Acting thing for BoiledMilkz
Voice Acting thing for a fanganronpa I found on Discord (not sure if I got a role yet though)
Voice Acting thing that I'm doing later today
The NGAP Cinematic Collab that I haven't started yet
The NGAP Terraria Collab that I haven't started yet but I'm doing the windy one
...Y'know...I'm starting to see why I think I'm on the edge of getting burnt out because on top of that I was doing my GCSEs (very important British exams), the album that I stated earlier and work on the DDLC fangame I mentioned in the 2023 post that I haven't worked on properly for a few months now as I got sidetracked. I was also trying to make stuff earlier this year for Redbubble and I kinda forgot about that.
The most notable thing I did online this year was probably changing my username from "PearlHikara" to "RosieUV" as I made that name when I was 13 and it's a version based of a name of my old YouTube channel I made when I was 12 and it's cringe so I came up with the much cooler "Rosie Ultraviolett" that people at my college call me in real life because that was my name on Snapchat :'). I also changed my icon and logo and basically did a whole changing thing to look cooler.
In terms of improvement stuff: I finally moved onto Godot 4 and figured out how Dialogic 2 works (it's so much better than 1) and I made my first 3D game (that wasn't a Roblox game), I found out what EQ and automation tracks are, figured out the power of line widths, moved onto OpenToonz, uhhhhh other stuff. I want to go pirate FL Studio once I finish my album as LMMS is starting to feel limiting, especially in comparison to Logic Pro, which is what I've been using in my music tech BTEC class.
I also started uploading all my old art onto Cara, moved my website from carrd.co to neocities.org so I could make it from scratch with HTML and not have to rely on boring templates. I'm currently re-making the website from scratch to look all cool and stuff and that's my main focus currently as I want to make a 2025 channel trailer for my YouTube and I mentioned it in the script. I've been trying to take YouTube more seriously, especially now a bunch of people from my college have subscribed and I'm at 86 or something ridiculous like that. I have plans to put dev logs and other not really animation stuff on there. I made a Bluesky earlier this year after I heard about all the Newgrounds people migrating from Twitter to that website.
So yeah that's basically it. I suspect I'll spend 2025 making that DDLC fangame and releasing my album, and then 2026 will be that fanganronpa I came up with earlier this year but still don't have all the details for each chapter sorted out (mainly because I don't write anything down and I really should). I'm trying to do less collab stuff for a while so I have more time to focus on personal projects, but I know that's bullshit and the 2025 recap post is going to be twice as long as this with a sarcastic introduction.
At least I pretty much have reached endgame with my setup. Almost 5 years ago I was drawing on an iPhone 5C with crappy earphones mics and now I have this cool new desk from my bedroom redesign that can fit this 5:4 monitor I got off Ebay for 30 quid (it's some Dell monitor from 2008 that works great as a secondary screen), and these cool Audio-Technica wired headphones I got for Christmas. He doesn't know my socials so he probably won't see this, but thanks dad!

CJL LIVE BLOG SEASON 1 [EPISODE 3]
Hi. Lol. Finally yaad aa gaya ki I have another blog. Hehe. :) Come. Let's begin.
So we are back to where we left them last. In each other's arms. Under the 'moon light'.
2. They come out of their two-seconds trance and Tara is shocked by the glitch of the moon dropping down in spite of taking so much of care. Deva too looks flabbergasted by the rate his heart is roaring. Lol. Whatever.
3. Chacha and chachiji are staring at them with a lot of sus. Kya bhai? Aise kya dekh rahe ho unko? Tumhare hone wali dammad hai namaste nahi karoge kya? Bloody manner-less people.
4. "Aap theek hain?" Kyunki mera dil toh bohot zor se dhadak raha hai. Lol. Yahin kehne wale the na tum Dev?
5. Hmm. Dev Malik? Did I miss his false first name? Lol. I don't even remember anything from the last epi. Folks. Please halpppp. Okay? Dev ka first name was there in the last epi? Batana niche.
6. Kind of cryptic lines tho. So. Tara. He is already dropping ~not-so-subtle~ hints for you and staring at you with that knowing gaze. So. Did you guess him? Did you? I think not. Whatever.
7. This lil sister is. Okay. I know she is kind and considerate and all that. But she is also really dumb. Aur cheekh ke bol pagal. Taaki usse sunai hi de jaye, bewakoof.
8. Kunwari Ananya. Lol. Chachiji is something y'all.
9. Lol. Yeh log kitna khush hoke apne-aap ko introduce kar rahe hain for a good first impression. They don't even know that the kid whose life was ruined because of them is the man standing in front of them. First impression kya last impression bhi already bani hui hai ji inki toh. Lol. Whatever.
10. Lol. But the way that bg dancer came and took Tara away from him. He is absolutely in love with her. But is also heavily broken.
11. This choreography sucks. Yeah. It could have been better. But nvm. *shrugs*
12. Tara ko shocked and intrigued dikhane ke chakkar mein they completely made her as if she unwilling to dance at all. Bilkul stoic and rigid and forced. Nvm. *shrugs*
13. And we see that brother (Rohan?) drinking and enjoying the party. Such an asshole. Took money from his sister and yet came to the party leaving behind his ailing father.
14. He is about to answer her third question but she spots her brother and now is in no mood to hear the answer.
15. Dev is heart broken and full of rage that Tara left him in the middle of him speaking.
16. I think that trauma incident has affected more than one person. Poor ailing Baba is roaming in the streets while hallucinating about that fire incident. Tara running around with her car trying to spot him. Really. Hats-off to all those children who are literally ready to go to hell for their parents. Tara has somehow created a soft-corner in my heart. Coz I have seen my father irl taking care of his ill mother doing everything to keep her fit too. And I too have the same sentiment towards my parents.
17. Dev is emotional seeing Tara in front of him after so many years. He really did miss her. See? He loves her. I said it already. He cannot just stop recalling those few moments he got with her.
18. And now that chaand has been neatly packed and placed in his car 'with love' by Shagun. He looks at it with a yearning.
19. Nothing seems to be working out for Tara as she is now frustrated to know that some 'ameer admi' from another sheher has bought Badshah.
20. And yahan pe our Dev is having repeated flashbacks of his tortured past and thus takes the jeep to a secluded place only to burn down the chaand kept in his car. So. There you have it. Chaand Jalne Laga. Quite literally. This show doesn't miss to promote it's name whether it be through dialogues or props used by the leads.
21. Wow. NGL but the ending of each of the episode is so damn freaking amazing tho. Ok bye. God bless you.
