OK THEN HERE COMES. so I saw this pic
Tumblr media
And immediately realized that this woman, along with many other people, doesn't think highly of Gold AT ALL. Most people define the Pokédex holders as "great trainers with a bright future", and yet Gold is always the exception. He's always the loud and selfish one, the one that just happened to receive a Pokédex but is actually not worthy of one. Gold himself realizes that, it's hinted in the HGSS arc when he's speaking to Togepi and said "I should know better than anyone else how it feels when no one believes in you" and it's just....so sad. It makes sense now why this kid goes around screaming and bragging about what he's done, he just wants some credits and recognition, he's doing everything the other Dexholders are doing and yet people do nothing but critique him, for a reason that's not even his fault ;-;-;-;- my bby :(
OMG YES—
Tumblr media
From the very moment they meet, Prof. Oak belittles Gold—telling Gold he has no character or skill—
Tumblr media
And Prof. Oak even goes as far as to say it would be a waste to give a Pokédex to Gold and it’s just hurtful words to say—especially with how young Gold is—and I know Red had to prove himself too…but Oak’s words are so harsh here..
Tumblr media
And on top of that—Gold believes he’s nothing when he reads the paper about what every dexholder’s roles are and realizing he was left out again—albeit he wasn’t—it still adds to his insecurities of not being good enough—
Tumblr media
And it’s truly heartbreaking to see him struggle with this ;;
Tumblr media
And when he sacrifices himself—he is fighting for himself—and incidentally proving himself—
Tumblr media
And then we get to HGSS arc, where Gold finds out that the only reason Oak asks him to do this is because Silver and Crystal are busy—so again, Gold is being belittled—
Tumblr media
And he must prove himself by winning tournaments ^^^
Tumblr media
And that scene with Togepi is truly heart wrenching because Gold is being fully vulnerable and honest—that he knows what it’s like to not be relied upon.
Gold really does have it rough and always being put down for his skills when he’s honestly incredible—he constantly has to prove himself and it’s just sad when you think about it ;;

For the ship ask: Preciousmetalshipping after the events of Emerald? :)
Thank you for the ask, and sorry for the long turnaround time! I assumed you meant post-Emerald but pre-HGSS, so I wrote their interaction as somewhat familiar but not overtly romantic. Like they have feelings but they haven't yet realized them because they won't even admit they're friends yet. Hope you like it!
It should not have been this hard to find any dexholder on the island—since they were literally gathered not thirty minutes ago for the tournament celebrations. Exceptions had to be made though, because the missing dexholder was Silver and Gold was easily distracted by the festivities. Asking around mostly got him one answer: Have you asked Blue?
Guess who was also missing.
Their party of eight quickly dwindled as some had missions to report, and others also had people to meet, and soon Gold was on his own searching for Silver in a sea of thousands. That curly-haired chump just had to wish for this many visitors, didn’t he?
Even Gold’s fiery energy couldn’t last after all the craziness and endless searching, and he had to give up before his legs gave out and plopped onto a tree stump he found. It was away from the crowds, which meant he could complain loudly without repercussion.
“Jeez, after all I did for that guy, he doesn’t even show up to say hi or nothing!”
Just then, he heard a rustling and a familiar voice saying, “Hi. You were searching for me?”
“What the—!?” Gold swiveled around and nearly tripped on a tree root trying to get to his feet. “Silver?!”
Silver dropped down from a tree branch that Gold had no idea why he had even been on, and stood a foot from Gold. Wordlessly, giving zero explanation as though it were perfectly normal to be squatting in a tree.
“Well?! What were you doing?!” It occurred to Gold that this encounter might not have been coincidence. “Were you following me?”
“...No. Why did you want to find me?”
“Uhhh....” Now that Gold thought about it, he didn’t really have a reason—he just felt like he had to find Silver. “...just wanted to see you’re okay after, you know, being a rock for four months.”
Silver’s eyes narrowed slightly, but Gold was going to pretend it was the sunlight and not Silver being suspicious of him. “That’s it? No other reason? You know I was conscious some of the time.”
“W-what?! I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Gold sputtered, knowing exactly what he talking about.
Silver seemed to take him at face value, however, and shrugged. “Okay, if that’s all, I’m leaving,” he said, and began to walk back towards the trees.
“Wait!” With his good reflexes (and totally not because he was panicking), Gold grabbed Silver’s arm, and to his surprise, Silver actually stopped and waited. Which Gold was not prepared for, and he blurted, “Uh... let’s go... hang out?” Silver’s brow rose and Gold would admit he panicked this time. “I mean—you can hang out in trees when you’re back in Johto, so don’t waste your time doing it here! Just... saying.” He realized he was still holding onto Silver during his speech and let go awkwardly, flashing his best nervous grin.
“Hang out? I don’t recall us being buddies.”
Gold’s anxiety snapped into disbelief. “You did not just say that.” Silver stayed silent, and Gold sighed loudly. “FINE, we’re buddies now, so you’re either coming with me or I’m dragging you around this damn frontier!” Somehow, Silver responded to a threat, however empty it was, better than anything else he had said, because he could sworn he saw a ghost of a smile on Silver’s face, but it was lost as Silver ended up shoving his shocked self from the trees.

i dont mind the dexholders not being able to use the third jirachi wish and having to take archie down themselves but the justification for that was sooooo dumb like who gives a fck abt scottie tomie or whatever the frontier owner's name was... like if anything they couldve had archie grant a second wish or someone else made a wrong wish IDK. i do like the ending where the frontier gets a million visitors and the dexholder tournament duh, but like.. that doesnt feel like a good enough reason to risk the lives of the dexholders lmao

Fic idea: Don't care why, don't care how, but all the dexholders must face some sort of challenge, but the version of each who is there is them waking up after the first time they slept after registering into their Pokedex. This means:
Red has met Green once and that's it.
Green doesn't know anyone; at most he has vague memories of the search parties for Blue right after her kidnapping.
Blue knows Red and Green and has been through the Silph Co. raid with them and seen their championship match. She's used to Silver still being like 8.
Yellow has met everyone up to Crystal and is now older than any of them. Crystal and Silver have heard of her but that's it. From her perspective, Red just had Deoxys throw her and Mewtwo into a warp hole to get them off Team Rocket's airship.
Gold and Silver have only just met, Silver doesn't think much of Gold and Gold is still trying to get Totodile back from Silver. Silver knows Blue and knows of the other Kanto dexholders, but is used to them as being much stronger.
Crystal doesn't know any of these people. She's heard of the exploits of the Kanto group, and that's it. As far as she's concerned she's just set out on her capturing mission.
Sapphire doesn't remember Ruby and has not made the bet with him yet. All she knows about the other dexholders is that one of them became champion when he was 11.
Ruby doesn't remember Sapphire from childhood, but has made the bet with her and made her clothes (which, from her perspective, she hasn't received yet).
Emerald knows Crystal and knows of the others. He's still distancing himself from Pokemon and last he heard, the Kanto group and Silver were statues.
Dia and Pearl have just met Platinum and don't know her name, because of the Bidoof incident, Chatler hasn't had time to tell them of the Missy/Lady/Ojou-sama thing. Platinum thinks they're her bodyguards. They may be aware in passing of the older dexholders.
Black doesn't know anyone personally, though he probably knows a decent amount about RGB because of their participation in the championships, and might have watched the Battle Frontier tournament the first 10 were in. He and White are now the oldest of all the dexholders, at 14.
White has been traveling with Black for several months now and has only recently parted ways for the Battle Subway. She doesn't know any of these other people.
Blake might know Blue, depending on their professional relationship in InterPol and has at least an overview of the other dexholders. He has just met Whitley and suspects her of being in Team Plasma.
Whitley knows Blake as a classmate and that's it. She only knows about Pokedexes as tools for oppressing Pokemon. She may have heard of Black as being involved in the fight with N before Team Plasma went into hiding.
X and Y don't know who any of these people are and have just had their hometown destroyed and been attacked by Team Flare. X is still not interacting with anyone.
Sun probably knows of at least the first 10 dexholders as legendary trainers, since he grew up in Kanto, but he probably hasn't met them. He's known Moon for a few days.
Moon has known Sun for like a day and a half. She knows the Sinnoh trio... but as much older than her.
Sou and Schilly are about the same, though Schilly hasn't gotten any of her memories back yet.
Wally, Cheren, and Bianca might be there. I don't remember the details quite that well, but Wally definitely knows Ruby and Cheren and Bianca know Black and may or may not have met White yet.
For bonuses, they have their Pokemon in whatever state they were when they first joined the party of someone with a Pokedex/ their trainer first got a Pokedex. Ex: Pika is still an angry little thing and Vee is still an Eevee because that's how they were when Red caught them, but Poli is already a Poliwhirl because he was already evolved when Red got his Pokedex.

Clearing Out the Askbox
Tumblr media
She sure is! I love early SwSh theorizing :)
Tumblr media
(hands you the arc) here you’ll do it better.
Tumblr media
Are you implying there are space huskies that you haven’t told me about? Spill the secrets of the alien dogs
Tumblr media
This is unintentionally the funniest ask I have ever received, thank you. Spe not respecting women is more of a joke since the manga isn’t really misogynistic in any meaningful way, but it does have an issue I like to call FDS, or Female Dexholder Syndrome. If you read all the arcs you’ll notice a pattern: the girls don’t do ANYTHING in the final battle (Yellow being an exception but she’s a special case). Blue is eliminated from the tournament by Oak, Crystal gets frozen in ice in Ilex and really just doesn’t move the entire scene, Sapphire gets locked in an aircar, Platinum never actually fights the bad guys (seriously, every fight she’s in someone else is battling Team Galactic she’s just standing there), White was kidnapped, Whitley was also just kinda standing there, Y had a bit of a role but I forgot it, and Moon was locked in a literal dog cage.  The joke is thus that all the female dexholders have FDS and are nerfed in order to make their male counterparts look cooler in the finale when facing off against the big cad guys, so spe doesn’t respect women (also all the female dexholders who are focused on battling are overshadowed narratively by their male counterparts with the exception of Platinum, so there’s that too).
Tumblr media
“Are you a boy or a girl?” “Yes”
Tumblr media
100% agreed. Sadly Crystal’s debut was a bit of a transition period-- Crystal came out after GS so it’s likely that Crystal wasn’t planned for the original draft of the story and had to be added in last minute (which is likely why there’s a massive tonal shift and her introduction hits like a freight train). Not only that, but when Crystal showed up the manga switched artists, which probably didn’t help things as Yama was still getting his bearings. So yeah... GSC could’ve handled Crystal a lot better.
Tumblr media
This is the fourth time you’ve sent this ask
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I like the idea of a remake arc pushing Yellow’s abilities but “overzealous to the point of endangering others” isn’t really Yellow’s MO. She’s willing to put herself in danger and go with wacky plans, but she’s not stupid and she doesn’t abuse her powers in the slightest. Also I really don’t think Red OR Green is really in a position where they have the moral or actual authority to take back her dex
Tumblr media
I stg I’ve gotten this exact ask before and like? That’s kinda rude of them :/
Tumblr media
I’m getting Deja Vu
Tumblr media
haha gay
Tumblr media
Half the asks I get are legitimate nonsense so at this point I almost DO miss Jimmy Neutron
Tumblr media
Honestly same and I really need to brush up on my ORAS, but yeah I agree. I don’t really know what it is that makes them seem so... off in the ORAS arc, but I attribute it to being sort of a step backwards from their partnership in Emerald. Maybe it’s because in ORAS they never really get a chance to breathe and be themselves in a non-stressful situation, but Sapphire acts almost uncharacteristically sensitive to Ruby’s moods and actions towards her whereas Ruby is very serious and angsty. Idk.
That being said, seeing them doing field research and being just... good friends who care about and trust each other is something I wanted to see more of too because I think the best parts of their relationship shine when they get to enjoy each others’ company like that
Tumblr media
Oh absolutely, Kusaka is a genius at weaving in different plot threads / events into one (typically) cohesive story. With the exception of SMUSUM / ORAS, he does it flawlessly imo.  If I had to tweak ORAS, I would have Blaise and Amber disguise themselves as this “new Archie and Maxie” to try and round up the old team Magma / Aqua members, giving them hope and an opportunity to fight for what’s right this time. Instead we got them coming back to life AGAIN and dying for the THIRD TIME, which. ok Kusaka. Ok.
Tumblr media
ORAS should’ve had Ruby and Sapphire doing field work and being cute together while Emerald and Wally saved the day because Wally deserves to be a hero and RuSa deserve a goddamn nap. Send Tweet.

Conversation
NSFW- sadistic Blake pt 1 (ff request)
Both of them were children inside, even though were forced to grow up.
There was always tension between Blake and Whitley, even though they were too young to address it. The awkwardness- the flirting, them being twelve and like the other younger dexholders, unsure of their place in the world, and unsure of themselves.
But the discovery of the ex Unovan Champion- Black- made things more peaceful. Less stuff to worry about. And more time to mess around.
So it's not like they didn't talk about it.
They talked about it all the time.
Being a dexholder meant being a prominent marker for the next generation, places to go around and hotels to stay in.
Whitley had once said, “It’s alright. I like being held back.” Out of nowhere. When they were twelve. The battle with Colress was over. Blake had apologised for not being able to find the keys- to get them out of their strange situation, locked together in handcuffs.
“Say what now?” (His inner child had again come out)
And Whitley shut up.
And the subject didn't come up again in another four years. Though this time Blake had a retort of his own.
“Maybe someday.” He said. “Just wait.” He said it so seriously as if he was talking about a mission or something. Whitley quite liked that about him. The seriousness. It was endearing.
“I wasn't talking about that,” Whitley said. Warmth in her cheeks. She had the temptation to bite her lips. But that would be painful. His fingers stayed on the crook of her neck.
“I wanna feel you too.”
Two more years, however, and Blake had an entirely different perspective.
“I want to see you part your legs.”
“I'm in a room with three other dexholders-“ she texted on her tranceiver, warm down to her stomach. Not to mention Foongi wouldn't go back to his pokeball.
“Oh?” Blake said, “Who are they?”
“You're here with them,” she texted, “we're having a meeting with White and Black to discuss Unova’s possible future. Now get back to work.”
The meeting room- all shiny floors, white tiles and sliding glasses, contrasted largely with the large green fields outside, filled with the loud and distinct noises of hybrid pokemon Crystal had collected over the years for the professor. Warm sunlight and the rest of the dexholders were outside swimming. A wholesome environment.
Blake had a perverse tendency to be like this in wholesome places.
“You said you'd do it,” he texted, while discussing plans for a tournament with Black in a serious voice.
White reached out to take a water bottle from her side, writing things down on paper.
And so Whitley opened her legs.
“You have to wait to come.”
“Please?”
He texted, “No.”
She began to fold in on herself so much, space between her legs aching, warm and dripping wet, that White even asked her, “Are you okay? You know we could take a break if you want-“
Blake almost broke into a laugh. But managed to control it. He was a good actor. It was torture for her.
She liked the torture.
He really was an asshole.
Whitley began touching herself whenever she found a good excuse. Began rocking back and forth a little on her chair.

can’t believe that after almost 10 years, the bw/b2w2 saga has ended!! :’0
as frustrating as the long hiatuses of b2w2 releases sometimes were, in the end i am actually grateful for them, because they kept me invested in pokespe all these years. i didn’t play xy or oras so i wasn’t super interested in those chapters, but the fact that black was still stuck in that fucking rock kept me coming back to the manga year after year, waiting for an update.
...and the bw chapter will always be so special to me because it is the chapter that first got me into pokespe! and as much as i wish that the b2w2 had ended with the pokemon world tournament and a cameo from the senior dexholders, i love the bw chapter for being so accessible to new fans. and i love the b2w2 chapter, as chaotic as it sometimes was, for completing a story that is so dear to my heart, after all this time.
i'll miss these characters and i’ll miss their story. i love black for being so passionate and hardworking, i love white for being so pragmatic and ambitious, i love whi-two for being so kindhearted and brave despite her fear, and i even love lack-two for being so quick-witted and willful.
au revoir, unova dexholders!! thanks for the memories and see you when bwb2w2 gets remade :’)

Green and Professor Oak's battle at the tournament should have had a lasting impact on their dynamic, and she should not have trusted him until at least GSC. Her first impression of him is him attacking her with birds while wearing a mask, in a crowded stadium and he doesn't drop it until she's recounted one of the worst moments of her life.
Never mind the fact that Sabrina just did basically the same thing a few chapters ago.
Or the fact that it is genuinely unfair to expect Green to have a concept of stealing being wrong when Oak has no idea where she's been. No one kidnaps children to teach them ethics.
This should have been relevant for longer. There could have been a thing in GSC where she's trying to keep Silver away from him so he doesn't do the same sort of thing after the pokedex is stolen, and this could have been part of her reasoning for not acting directly in the Yellow arc: it would increase her chances of running into Oak, and I honestly think that if her arc was written well she would have ended up in an antagonistic or anti hero role at some point
2. None of the Masked Kids get a good ending. Carl and Sham are most likely still in Team Rocket, Will and Karen get the fact that they "agreed" to what Pryce did used as a cheap reason for readers to not have to think too hard about the dexholders fighting them, and then get ignored, Green barely interacts with her parents, they don't even have lines, and Silver’s back with Pryce and never gonna go home because God forbid Giovanni get a consistent character arc
3. Game Freak played up h@rdenshi///ping too much in OR///AS. Archie and Maxie already frequently get boiled down to just that ship, seeing cannon do the same (intentionally or not) is kind of annoying.

hello this is totally not eevee but can you do yellow/crystal/blue and red/yellow hcs if you have time thank you storm ily
Hello totally not eevee, I can make some headcanons for ya!
Yellow/Crystal/Blue: (these are kinda platonic I hope you don’t mind)
Tea parties. Three times a month. The host rotates every time, and they meet up both to have tea and to talk about the things that have happened since they last met, the good and the bad. Blue provides fluffy boas for them to wear because boas make talking about even the bad things fun.
During the tournament between the Dexholders at the end of the Emerald chapter, Yellow and Crystal made signs to cheer on Blue until she lost. They had a big group hug at the end of her last battle, too.
Red/Yellow:
When Red gets too worked up or stressed out about something, Yellow will bring him to the Viridian Forest to relax. Sometimes they’ll reminisce together about things like how they first met.
Red and Yellow are the kind of couple who everybody thinks are secretly magnetic - they can never go a minute without holding hands or hugging or cuddling when they’re together.
When Red realized that Yellow was the girl to whom he promised that he’d become the new Viridian City Gym Leader, he felt the need to apologize to her for breaking that promise. Yellow had to reassure him that she understood why he didn’t take the position and that she didn’t mind at all that he broke his promise.
While I was making these headcanons this image popped into my mind that I thought was a nice image and I wanted to share it: Yellow and Red, laughing together while the rain pours down on them; they’re soaked to the skin, but they still can find a reason to keep smiling.

GIOVANNI’S PUBLIC IDENTITY
Note: if your character isn’t a Kanto dexholder (meaning the protagonists for RBY/FRLG) or has the means in order to know about Giovanni’s criminal life (they’re high ranking members in rival teams or they’re part of interpol), then this post should really be all they know of Giovanni.
Occupation
Officially, Giovanni’s occupation is actually as an hotelier first starting with the Game Corner, a hotel casino in Celadon City and slowly expanding into an international chain of resort and luxury hotels across the globe.
Save for attending public events for the sake of making a presence and to do some networking, Giovanni actually has little to do with how his hotel corporation is run. He leaves the specifics of managing the business to trusted key entrepreneurs within Team Rocket.
Philanthropist
Along with his official occupation, Giovanni also cultivates an identity as a philanthropist to further throw off suspicions of his underworld dealings. A large portion of the profits made through his hotel chain is budgeted for charity and donations across Kanto and even on several occasions across the world. He’s even gone so far as providing disaster relief either through money, supplies or workers.
Viridian City alone has benefited from Giovanni’s generosity, receiving millions in donations for schools and other public services. Pokemon Centers across the region have Giovanni as a benefactor as a large part of his philosophy is to provide a helping hand for young pokemon trainers fresh on their journey.
Gym Leader
The Viridian City Gym was founded and established by Giovanni shortly after his position as Team Rocket’s leader stabilised enough that he could divert enough of his attention to personal interests. Becoming a gym leader was his way in keeping that link to what he left behind for bigger and better pursuits. While his interest in the gym has waned over the years and the Viridian City Gym has fallen very nearly to the bottom of his list of priorities, Giovanni still makes a point maintaining his status as the fiercest Gym Leader in the region.
Once a he month he opens the gym to admit any challengers. There’s often a waiting list depending on the time of year. Since the Viridian Gym requires a total of seven badges the number of trainers who come looking for an Earth Badge is thankfully small, but enough that he has to allot a significant amount of time in his schedule to accommodate this part of his life.
At least once a year for the past five years, Giovanni holds a small tournament welcoming any and all trainers to compete. This is one of the few public events outside of his duties as a hotelier that he makes an appearance, often as a judge or recently as a simple spectator.
