Ghost Train

One day, Boxy finds a large box. One that's connected to multiple other ones in a big line. He moves it around a little, and finds himself enjoying rolling it back and forth. It's a train!

Well, the carriages at least. The locomotive is puffing, but it's not actually moving it. He shows it to Lunch Lady and Box Lunch, who agree with him, but point out that he has nowhere to keep it. He thinks back, and has an idea.

"Look, dude. It's not that I don't have the space but more about how you even got that."

"I found it with my great box sensing powers! And you're a big ol mighty Queen now, aren't you? I sure you'll find somewhere to put it."

"Hm. You got me there. You want a job?"

"No occupation is too great for the Box Ghost!"

"Great! I've decided that you will be the first Infinite Realms Train Conductor! I've been getting complaints about the whole traveling situation, and Wulf can't be making new portals willy nilly without the Observants being royal pains about it. You won't need tracks, so that'll help."

"I won't fail you, my Queen!"

"Egh, don't call me that. But anyways, I need you to go to this one dimension. It has a bunch of souls that need to be taken to the Infinite Realms. Dan and Ellie will go with you."

"You hear? There's a train taking souls into the night."

"Oh shut it."

"No! I'm serious! People are just disappearing! And all that remains is the whistle of the train..."

i will never get over the does it look like a puma conversation (also tucker going: what, like a puma? was the first thing that had me kracking up). but somehow the single funnies thing about is the absolut deadpan way Grif says "a walrus"

i found some wacky way to make borderless printing work...!!! it's not perfect but idk it might b ok enough until i can get a decent guillotine cutter and cut a bunch of sheets at once to size. I'll try experimenting with printing my comics and stuff sometime!!!!!

I'm frustrated and the well for people willing to put up with me talking to them about comics in meatspace has run dry, so this feels like the perfect opportunity to shout to the void.

If you intend to write in an unfamiliar language and don't have a native speaker you can talk to, try googling the signs you're going to reference before you commit to anything. If Noah is using the signs 'going' and 'where' he needs both hands to make those signs using BSL.

As a general rule, it seems strange to deliberately choose to have a character who speaks using SIGN LANGUAGE do things that PREVENT THEM FROM SIGNING. And it's deliberate, because just a few panels before, John is a dick to Noah about trying to speak.

And if the creative team decides against letting the conversation happen where the signing character can use both hands and actually be a part of the conversation, maybe it's a stupid decision to position the character who is speaking with the signing character BEHIND HIM AND LOOKING AWAY FROM HIM where he PHYSICALLY CANNOT SEE THE SIGNS BEING MADE.

I understand that comics are hard, I certainly can't do it, but I feel weird about these panels knowing that Noah NEEDS both hands to sign and that Noah needs the person he's speaking to, to be positioned at least partially in front of him to communicate.

You know what doesn't need either of those things?

Texting.

While yes, texting and driving is bad, is it worse than looking behind yourself and taking both hands off the wheel of a double decker bus in the middle of the night?

And don't tell me John Constantine couldn't hypnotize someone to get some free phones, he hypnotized a whole ass bus away.

Look. I'm sorry, Thursday. I'm not meaning to upset you. I apologize. I just can't stand when you let them upset you like that. You let them do it to you in my timeline too, only you were better at hiding it there, I think. And no, don't say anything, let me finish talking, please.
