Getting my planner set up for the new year!

Im switching from a traditional bound gridded notebook to a discbound system this year. I found I wasn't using my journal because I didnt have the time to draw in the calendars every month, and a traditional planner has never worked for me. But with this, I can buy pre-printed monthly calendar pages, and gridded pages. I also find ive been liking having lined pages for some things as well. Plus, because the pages aren't bound together, I can move and reorganize and take out and add pages at any time.

I think this will be good for me, and help me start actually using my planner/journal again! I really fell off the wagon with my old system around July...

finally bought a softcover full coverage real leather cover for a junior discbound size, which was my white whale for YEEEEARS--I bought it in white as a fun little joke to myself.

but I'm not currently using a discbound notebook system. I am/was struggling, again, to understand the easy breezy packable appeal of the OG traveler's notebook A5 slim size. previous to this I was digging the usual half latter / normal width A5 of my Oberon Design notebook cover, which I use in a traveler's notebook style. but it's heavy, and I also get weirdly attached to notebook configurations. yes, it's a reusable cover. no, I don't want to take apart this collection of notes and pockets and decorative extras. this is no mere bullet journal. this is a great and powerful grimoire. also yes it has my grocery lists and story plotting in it.

Definitely getting that "this notebook/system will fix me" feeling from this notebook

There is even an etsy seller who sells paper to fit it with a slightly over 4mm dotgrid, which is ideal for me.

I've spent so long looking at binders and getting excited about the versatility (bujo + book notes + other notes all in one place! but moveable/removable!) but the bulkiness/space inefficiency and the rings getting in the way while writing are dealbreakers for me. I'm hoping the discbound notebook will give me the best of binders with the best of notebooks! Gonna order it and see how it goes.

I had started on Camp NaNoWriMo this month but then it's fizzled. Life just gets in the way sometimes. Also, I'm experimenting with writing my story by hand. I think I picked too big of a notebook because I can't carry it with me. It's discbound but also letter page size. If I was still using a book bag to travel with, maybe not so bad but I don't anymore.

I've been in the mood for something new and it's been a mental debate for me. I don't need these things but I love gadgets. My options that I'm debating:

- freewrite traveler (maybe Alpha because it's cheaper)

- pomera dm250

- just buy a new laptop (current is from 2014)

- use Bluetooth keyboard with my phone

- pick a better sized notebook for story writing

I just spent two hours trying to find a someone selling discs for a discbound notebook/planner from germany. I nearly gave up but then I found an etsy seller. Etsy was a bit confusing for me bc it wasn't clear to me if the price shown was for a whole set or if I had to buy 11 discs for that shown price. It was a journey.

My first discbound notebook

I bought this last week and just came! It's more expensive than a usual notebook, but my plan is for this to last me all four/ five years of college, so it has the potential of saving me some money if it all goes according to plan. I'll use it to store my typed notes and some projects I have to print/draw
