Reaping the benefits of social media and several digital platforms. But … be cautious, read along and you’ll know why.
The days are almost gone for cable tv providers that used to hand their subscribers cable or tv boxes. They have now shifted to the use of digital platforms to provide the same tv shows to their market and keep up with competition. Consequently, the public have adapted to all these changes and a lot are already reaping the benefits of such services.
In one way or another, you probably have searched “how to” videos – this could be something that you needed help with your homework, a home remodel, or a car repair. I wouldn’t even deny that I resorted to this option first even before consulting a professional.  If you could get a task or a repair done without a professional or a tradesman, well, you’re in luck and saved yourself a few to a thousand dollars!
If you are one of the folks that started a “do-it-yourself” project or repair and wasn’t remarkably successful, do not stress, just appreciate that you are still reading this and nothing unfortunate has come your way! I am pertaining to the “DIYers” that thought they were successful with a particular task, yet the work done by them resulted in a woeful event. If you have second thoughts about your capabilities and/or the credibility of the source, then it’s better off paying a fortune and leaving it to the professionals! After all, everyone’s lives are indispensable.

I’ve already attached this to a re-blog, but it feels like something that I want to post as a standalone as well. Sometimes I scream into the tumblr void about shit. Thanks to a gifted copy of The Body Keeps the Score I’m doing more DIY therapy work and processing some of my thoughts through the interwebs. So here’s a brain thing.
🎶Let’s talk about projection baby, let’s talk about you and me!!🎶 All joking aside, so many of us who deal with CPTSD use fictional works to process our trauma. We are outsourcing emotions and memories that we, for whatever reason, struggle to deal with unless there is some remove from the immediacy of them. We seek to find ourselves in characters, parallels in stories and situations for our own experiences. We live their struggles and triumphs as our own and so find catharsis within them. Aziraphale as a character is a particularly good example of this. He’s doing the thing so many of us who are trying to convince everyone else and ourselves that “we’re FINE, thank you!” do. He isn’t really processing his shit. He’s putting it on a third party to release some pressure before he completely loses it. And in so doing, us the audience, have gained a character that we both empathize and sympathize with, and in turn, use to work through much of our own trauma. I honestly think that’s why so many of us are waiting for S3 with bated breath. We need Az to figure it out. We need them both to heal. To defeat the odds. To find happiness. We’re all waiting for that because we need to believe that it’s something we can have too. If this Angel who foists 6 millennia of grief and rage and maddening questions about the “why” of everything off into an entire bookshop’s worth of stories and characters, if he can figure it out…surely we can too. Surely there is hope for us buried somewhere in the stacks. Surely there is some understanding that can be found, some catharsis or healing within the lines of these narratives. So we’re all holding our breath, our hope and our hearts, in our hands, waiting to finish the story, and in so doing, complete some part of ourselves. Finally framing those cracks where the light comes in, into something beautiful.

becoming an environmental scientist is all about finding new ways to torture yourself! for example, recently The Algorithm has decided to introduce me to videos of people DIY renovating their old homes with zero regard for lead (or mold or asbestos) and as a result i have to comment on every single one of these in a doomed effort to save people from their own stupidity

DIYers: If I wanted to paint my old brown secretary desk red and black, would this be the process?
Remove drawers and hardware
Bondo the chips and old hardware holes in prep for new, and drill holes
Clean
Sand the shiny finish off
Paint (with chalk paint?)
Stencil in the painted designs I want
Finish
Attach new hardware
Revel in DIY success

when I agree to take on some of these projects I go through a recurring cycle every time— 1. absolutely unearned confidence that I can pull it off 2. A research/planning phase in which I realize I need a whole lot of tools and parts I’ve never used before and get overwhelmed but lock in to learning how to do it. 3. Commit and get started, immediately realize I underestimated the tools/parts/time needed. Freak out. Have high blood pressure and anxiety for X days 4. Figure it out and let ego explode.
Converting the boys bathroom from a single sink to a double is possibly the most adventurous plumbing job I’ve done and I actually mostly enjoyed the journey. My confidence stayed pretty strong throughout and boosted when I went to Country Paint to buy the materials. the guy helping me was a plumber for his day job, took a look at my rough sketch and said “yea this will work.” He actually made a couple suggestions that saved me a ton of time and effort which is much appreciated as this bathroom project drags on (for example, original plan called for cutting off the existing water shutoffs and installing new double shutoffs… he introduced me to a T Converter that enabled me to run two hoses from each shutoff without having to cut any copper or install any new equipment). The real problems for me on this one are brain drain (forgot to buy a couple important parts initially) from how much stuff I’m tracking with the bathroom and kitchen counter projects, and time. Thankfully Bowen has let me do some of the loud work (drilling holes in the vanity, cutting pipe etc) before his bed time when we’d normally hang out. Sad tho cuz it’s our best quality time together usually… looking forward to getting back to it tomorrow! Also ran into major unexpected problems getting the new vanity to fit around the existing plumbing. Had to do much more cutting inside the vanity behind the drawers than expected thank god the vanity people had the foresight to leave extra space back there!
Anyway, when I finally got the drain pipes all locked and loaded, and double checked the supply lines were tight, I turned the water back on and was so relieved AND pumped to see my plan come to life and work!

anyway the current mental argument I'm having is that I "should have" spent probably $100+ and dozens of hours fixing my old quilt instead of buying a new $20 blanket from walmart.
listen, there are holes in this thing so big I can fit my foot through them (and on multiple occasions have woken up like that). it's a secondhand, mass manufactured quilt and it did die before its time because my old washing machine was an absolute menace and wore holes in it immediately, but also it's not like some family heirloom that I should feel awful about replacing!! brain, stop beating yourself up for being a normal human!!

Do you have a switched electrical receptacle outlet that you would like to change the wiring on?  I created a few wiring diagrams showing different switched outlet wiring scenarios.  These will help you to make changes to your existing switched outlets or for installing new ones.
The most common change I have made to switched outlet wiring was making a LINE and a NEUTRAL in the existing switch box to wire in a new ceiling light or ceiling fan.

Why are end tables so fucking expensive!? They're just a few flat pieces of wood held up by four spindly legs! I wish I knew how to make wood stuff (woodwork? Why does that sound wrong, though. I wish I had carpentry skills?) or I'd fucking make my own, god damn.
