Julian O'Neal is Cherishing Cherry (@wrixie)

Julian did not have a good life growing up, music being the only constant thing in his life, the one thing he could take comfort in at the end of every day. In his teens, he started working at Dead Man's Records, a local record shop he could walk to after school, and the same place he'd spend his hard earned money at, buying himself records, cassettes and everything he needed to listen to them at home.

Whatever money Julian had leftover after buying his records went into his savings, and as soon as he was 18, his boss ( and owner of the store ), let him crash in the bedroom upstairs. This little record shop tucked in a corner of Copperdale was his entire life, and he was grateful for it, he loved it so much he barely saw working there as labor. He loved the music, the ambience, the customers, and the friends he made there. He transformed the place, bringing in new clientele and adding a space for people to perform music and read poetry.

When Julian was 23, the record store owner passed away, leaving Julian the shop and the apartment in his will, and it's been under his care ever since. In recent years Julian added a recording booth to the shop as well and got a little radio show started, as well as using the space to teach kids and teens how to play guitar. Private DL if chosen! In regards to his love life... there isn't much to say other than he has been abysmally unsuccessful. His longest relationship ended a year ago, and had been a failed attempt at being married. Julian and his now ex-wife had only been dating for about 3 months after having been friends for 10 years, and drunkenly decided to get married by a Judith Ward Drag Queen impersonator. 6 months later the pair realized they were much better off as friends and broke things off. They're still friends and share custody of a cat named Custard.

Still, Julian has all but lost hope on love and is slightly desperate. Dating apps are NOT his thing, at all, as the man is quite the technophobe, he doesn't even own a smartphone. So here he is, giving love another try, going out of his comfort zone in the process.

Likes: thrifting, vinyl records, collecting record & cassette players, making mixtapes as a love language, music from before the 2000s, distillery tours Dislikes: smartphones, music subscription services, most vegetables, vapes, electronic music, futurism

Fun Facts: collects record players and tape players, loves movies too just not as much as music ( especially slasher horror ), his favorite movie is Scream, his favorite band is Filter, secretly likes to dance, is a competent enough cook but usually too tired to do it so he tends to order food a lot, never had pets growing up but would love to have more of them now, he just needs the space for it, cries easily, is the go-to person to invite to a concert, friends with pretty much all his customers and students.

i LOVe being trans omg so 2 years ago my ~identity~ got stollen and I had to jump through HOOPS with the IRS to prove that I Am Who I Say I Am, Please Let Me File My Taxes and they were like "ok! please retrieve this handy PIN number from our online portal to file your taxes electronically" and I was like "excellent, I will do this" and i log on to their silly website a few months back and I run into something called ID.Me which is a ~tool~ that the ~government~ uses to verify your identity via a 2 step process: you upload a photo of your drivers license and then take a "live selfie" and the software compares the two photos

DO WE SEE THE PROBLEM YET FOLKS???

I got my DL photo taken when I was freshly 16. My mother had me put on mascara and lipstick for it. I had very long, dyed blonde hair that I wore down and around my face. I cannot stress enough that I look nothing like that person anymore: I look like a misplaced Make A Wish boy. So the identification verification FAILS because the algorithm is CONFUSED by my BOYISH, SICKLY CHARM but don't worry! There's a second option! :):):):):) Just jump on a video call with three original copies of state identification! You can mix and match with your social security card, birth certificate, drivers license, or passport! I don't have a passport, nor do I have my original birth certificate. So I had to paper file my taxes this year. Again.

I didn't change my name when I transitioned, I didn't change my sex marker, I did not even medically transition. I shaved my head, changed my wardrobe, and stopped basically doing drag for my mothers' or anyones approval. I told my parents about the Trouble I was having and my mom tried to say "well, it's because you don't select F when you do those forms" and I laughed because yeah I do, I've never selected anything else (what would I even select? "I dissent"? Is there an NB option on all gov forms now? Cause I missed that memo) because I'm not fucking stupid and then she followed up, "well, when you give your pronouns..." WHAT PART OF THIS PROCESS ASKED FOR PRONOUNS? NONE OF IT. LITERALLY NONE OF IT. All the information I entered into the forms matches verbatim what is on my license down to literally every detail: name, sex marker, etc.

Now I'm trying to apply for unemployment benefits and GUESS WHAT MY STATE UNEMPLOYMENT WEBSITE USES TO VERIFY YOUR IDENTITY??? ID. motherfucking ME. GUESS WHO'S STILL TRANS? ME. FUCK.

Yeah so I gotta go in-person to get my DL photo changed and to file for unemployment. Both places are on opposite sides of the city and it will be over 100 degrees tomorrow. FUCK my life.

Originally designed as an anti-submarine Hunter Killer under SCB-1 program and given the new designation of Light Cruiser Killer (CLK-1). She "could operate under all weather conditions and would carry the latest radar, sonar, and other electronic devices. She was designed on a light cruiser hull so she could carry a greater variety of detection gear than a destroyer." She was changed to Destroyer Leader (DL-1) shortly before launch, and her role was expanded to include surface ships. This is why she was named for a city rather than a person like other US Navy Destroyers.

"A projected sister ship (intended to be named New Haven (CLK-2)) was deferred and then cancelled in favor of the smaller and less expensive Mitscher-class destroyers, due to the high cost ($61.9 million) of Norfork. While Norfolk was fully combat ready, she was effectively a one ship class experiment that tested new ASW weapons and concepts."

A new NASA mission is testing a new way to navigate our solar system by hoisting its sail into space – not to catch the wind, but the propulsive power of sunlight. NASA’s Advanced Composite Solar Sail System is led by the agency’s Ames Research Center in California’s Silicon Valley. The microwave oven-sized CubeSat is scheduled to launch aboard a Rocket Lab Electron rocket from the company’s Launch Complex 1 on the Mahia Peninsula of New Zealand. The launch window opens at 3 p.m. PDT on Tuesday, April 23 (10 p.m. UTC). Successful deployment and operation of the solar sail’s lightweight composite booms will prove the capability and open the door to larger scale missions to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.   Once it arrives in its orbit, roughly 600 miles above Earth, the CubeSat will deploy a lightweight sunlight-powered composite solar sail system that measures more than 800 square feet. Much like a sailboat uses wind to traverse the ocean, the solar sail technology will use the pressure of sunlight to travel through space and perform a series of maneuvers to demonstrate orbit raising and lowering. Throughout the demonstration, the spacecraft may be visible to the naked eye in the night sky.
