"Motorist Fined $25 For Failing to Return To Injured Dog," The Province (Vancouver). September 15, 1943. Page 6. ---- Irvine Best, 320 West Fifth, found guilty of a charge of failing to return to a dog he had run over on Manitoba street, was fined $25 or ten days by Magistrate Mackenzie Matheson in Police Court today.

The dog was owned by Mrs. Rachel Davis, 2063 Manitoba, who said the dog ran across the street to chase a cat and was run over by Bet's auto. The animal's leg leg was broken. Best declared he stopped a short distance down the street but could not see any sign of the dog, so presumed it had not been hurt.
