Madimon
The resurrected form of Madimot. Imagine Madimot with a a scarred face, bright red eyes, and a shield that looks like a Mooger’s head, and you’ll have a basic idea of Madimon’s appearance; in fact, his general appearance in his resurrected state resembles that of the victims of the Eldritch Xenomorphic Entities of Creepypasta affiliated myth. His face is about as mangled as Knuckles’s face was after he died in the Sonic.Exe reboot. Madimon opted for a more offensive repertoire of magic after he decided that mind control spells wouldn’t work in this day and age. Madimon’s shield is sentient, and the circumstances that led to its sentience are unknown.
Weaknesses:
Like Rusted Steeleto, Madimon doesn’t have a second life nor the ability to turn into a Mega Monster.
Madimon’s shield is demonically enhanced and isn’t very effective against holy weapons and heroic individuals.

The 1994 “Donkey Kong Country Exposed” promotional VHS contained an extremely brief scene of Donkey Kong standing by the side of a road with a sign reading “Redmond”, referring to the location of the Nintendo of America headquarters in Redmond, Washington, seen with a negative filter.
Top: the way the scene appears in the video. Bottom: reversing the colors of the scene to obtain the original footage.

((There may be more than one "Link"-type character in a single entry -- Hero's Shade, Fierce Deity, Linkle, Ravio, Animal Crossing player in Hero's Outfit + W. Link, Mario Kart Links + Outfit for Miis, the pre-characters listed above, etc.))
((I am counting characters who can dress up as Link, such as in BS Zelda, Sky: Children of the Light, Animal Crossing, the Badge Arcade rabbit, etc.))
((The same Link can appear in multiple entries.))
Got a lot of information from these sites:
Let me know if I missed or skipped over any that I should add to the list!
I might reblog this with images.

All this gamer talks got me thinking of Cookie run video games that will never be a thing:
A Gingerbrave Metrioid-Vania where some mysterious ruined kingdom is discovered, and Gingerbrave gets tasked with exploring it, seeing faces old and new along the way.
Or this has been an idea floating around in my head for a while, but a platformer where you play as Pizza Cookie! Like she got tasked with a huge delivery order and just as she was getting ready to depart, the order gets stolen and she has to get it back! It would have 8 worlds, and maybe even some levels where you ride on her scooter (think the minecart levels from donkey kong country)
And if you do want a fighting game, Cookie Run Crumble: a platform fighter where all your favorite cookies battle it out to see whos the best. If you can think of a moveset for your favorite cookie, then odds are they can get in.
I’d say the first one is closest to what I was thinking, except it’s yet another separate timeline like Ovenbreak and Kingdom (I personally believe that each game is its own separate timeline, like the Final Fantasy games), and it’d start after he escapes from the Oven, as per usual
I feel like the second idea would be like a fun little side game, like the Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog or Security Breach: Fury Road. Something the developers make as just a fun but short side thing. I think it’d still be enjoyable though
The third thing made me think of the Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure fighting games where you duke it out against another character, like All Star Battle or Heritage for the Future. I realize now that you said “platform fighter”, which makes me think more Smash Bros, but still, could make another fun game, definitely a competitive one for sure. Personally I don’t play much PvP, but I’m sure others might enjoy it
Also I think the name, Cookie Run Crumble is kind of hilarious because it’s the Cookie equivalent of “Cookie Run KILL” and that’s just funny to me
#there’s a lot of directions you could go for Cookie Run and Devsis does seem to be branching out#but I do hope they still keep the roots of the game like Ovenbreak because that’s still fun#cookie run#video games#video game idea#platformer#fighting games#answers

Ever got to finish that damn POKéDEX?
I do not 100% clear games very often. Especially once we started getting in to the late 90's and early 2000's where collectibles numbered in the hundreds.
In Super Mario 64, the most stars I ever got was like, 109, I think. I never got all the emblems in Sonic Adventure, or Sonic Adventure 2. And when it came to Pokemon, once I learned that there were Pokemon you could only get via trading, I basically immediately resigned myself to the idea of "Well that's never happening."
I think the highest I ever got was, like, 92 or 97 Pokemon, in that first game? And after that I just straight up gave up caring. I used what I had and did not go out of my way to get Pokemon I didn't need.
The list of games I've 100% cleared is pretty short:
Sonic 1, 2, 3&K, CD, Mania (All emeralds)
Super Mario World (All exits)
Donkey Kong Country (101%)
Donkey Kong Country 2 (102%)
Parappa the Rapper (Rappin' Cool on every stage)
NiGHTS into Dreams (Full A-Rank clear)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (200% map completion)
Klonoa PS1 (All rescue panels)
New Super Mario Bros. (All star coins)
Super Mario 3D Land (Unlocked Champion's Road)
Super Mario Odyssey (Darker Side unlocked)
Banjo-Kazooie XBLA (All jiggies and notes)
Sonic Generations (All Red Star Rings)
There might be a few more I'm forgetting, but that feels like the complete list to the best of my memory.
And for the Sonic games, I don't count ones where getting the emeralds is part of the mandatory story. So like, I "fully cleared" Sonic Rush, but of course I did. That's just beating the game. It doesn't count.
Once upon a time I was going for full clear (all achievements) in Sonic Unleashed, got about 80% of the way there, and then accidentally deleted my save file. I had like 10 or 15 medals left and just needed to finish off doing all the hot dog trials.

(Fake ASMR Commission) Returning To Liminal Space [Part 3]
------------------------------------------------------------
“Wow… I just can’t seem to stop thinking about that dream I had last night. It was so nice.”
“Wish I could time travel. Revisit old memories. It’d be one hell of a nostalgia trip.”
“Or maybe… I can. I remember when me & my friend were trapped in Liminal Space. Then after spending enough time there, we didn’t want to leave.”
“Maybe we can brainstorm a way to go back there. I hope they’re up for it. I’ll call them & see if we can give it a shot.”
*phone ringing sound*
“Hello?”
…
“Hey! It’s been a while. Ya know… I had a really cool dream last night. It put me in a nostalgic mood. You remember that time when we were in Liminal Space, right?”
…
“Well… I wanted to know if… You wanted to go back there.”
…
“Oh, awesome! That’s so exciting to hear. Glad we’re on the same page. There’s just one problem. I don’t know how to go back there.”
…
“Wait, really? YOU do? Well, spill the beans then. I need to know this.”
…
“What? That’s it? It’s really that simple?”
…
“So lemme get this straight. You were exploring the Abandoned Train Station in our town & just so happened to find a portal in the basement.”
…
“Okay, well… That’s great. I’m glad it’s so simple. But why that place specifically? And how has no one else found it yet?”
…
“Yeah, that’s fair. Can’t blame you for not knowing. Well, I’ll meet you there then. See you in a few.”
*phone hang-up sound followed by scene transition*
……….
“Heeeeey~! Wow, you weren’t kidding. There really is a portal here.”
…
“I can take a guess as to why. Perhaps this portal is here because… An Abandoned Train Station is an old place that’s stuck in time so to speak. Fits the theme of liminality. It makes perfect sense.”
…
“Yeah, let’s head on in. This place is really musty. Need better air to breathe.”
*portal traversal sound*
*sound of feet hitting ground*
“Woo! Look at that! We’re back in the mall. I remember it like it was yesterday.”
…
“Ya know… Part of the reason we find locations like this so nostalgic is due to their sense of… What was…”
…
“What I mean is… A mall is obviously built by people, right? But the people who built it… Are no longer there. This man-made structure is separated from those who created it. It makes the structure seem like it’s frozen in time. Stuck in the past. And that’s why it feels nostalgic.”
…
“By all means, let’s look around.”
……….
*door opening sound*
“Oooh, this looks like a video game store.”
…
“Yep. An old one at that. Check this out. There’s a Super Nintendo Entertainment System over here. It’s price tag says $200. Heh… If only consoles were actually that cheap nowadays.”
…
“This is definitely a 1990s gaming store. I can even see a copy of Donkey Kong Country in the console. Never played the game myself, but I heard it’s an old favorite of many.”
…
“It’s kinda funny. As a kid, I played so many video games. When you’re that young, you’ll enjoy just about anything. Even bad games that we look back on as adults with more insight & experience. Nowadays, my gaming library is quite shallow. I’m very picky about what I play these days.”
…
“Oooh, look at this. A PlayStation 1. It’s cool seeing this old thing given that the PS5 exists. I wonder what game is in it.”
*button clicking sound*
“No way! Spyro the Dragon! That’s amazing!”
…
“The original Spyro Trilogy were the first video games I ever played. This is just too much. My heart can’t handle this much nostalgia.”
…
“Yeah, I’m really glad that trilogy got a remake. We still don’t have a true Spyro 4 though. Wonder when that’ll happen.”
…
“Sure, we can find another room now. I’m gonna miss this one though.”
……….
*door opening sound*
“Woah!”
…
“Wow… Now this looks like something I’d see in a dream! We’re on a road… But the road is a ring around the Earth… And all we can see around us is outer space.”
…
“I wouldn’t question the logic in any of these bizarre rooms. I’ve accepted that if you can imagine it, you can find it in Liminal Space. Nothing is too weird if you suspend your disbelief. We don’t need an explanation as to how we’re able to breathe in space either.”
…
“I noticed that the door is attached to the back of this car here. Looks like it was made in the early 1900s. I wonder if we can drive it.”
*sound of car door opening & closing*
“Well, the door certainly wasn’t locked. And there’s keys in the ignition. Maybe this’ll really work.”
*sound of car starting up & remaining stationary until driven*
“Huh… Well then… I guess this is happening now.”
…
“Sure, we can drive for a bit. Gives me some time to talk about stuff.”
*car driving sounds until specified stopping point*
“So… Have you ever heard of Retro Futurism?”
…
“It’s a bit of a specific term, but simple enough to understand. Retro Futurism is when the future is depicted from a past era. Say for example… Someone from the 90s drawing art of what they think the 2020s would be like.”
…
“I know that sounds funny seeing how… When all is said & done… Society hasn’t really changed all that much in the past 30 years. At least I don’t think so.”
…
“Well, of course I’m not saying that we haven’t had any advancements in 30 years. That’d be silly. For example, we went from old box TVs & VHS tapes to 4K flatscreen TVs & digital streaming. Touch screens, voice commands… All kinds of things.”
“I remember when I was kid, I’d watch America’s Funniest Home Videos every Sunday Night on a CRT vintage TV. Now that’s nostalgia right there.”
“In regards to the visual aspect of Retro Futurism, there are forms of art that feel like they tried to look futuristic for their time. This can be seen in Psychedelic Art.”
…
“If you’re prone to seizures, I definitely wouldn’t recommend looking up Psychedelic Art, but if you can handle it, you’re in for a treat.”
“It’s art that consists of scenery painted with rainbow colors. Usually with flashing, swirling or wave-like motions. So you’ll typically find them in the form of gifs. To me personally, the nostalgic feeling of this art is linked to Retro Futurism. You can totally imagine it yourself, right? People from the 1900s drawing cities with neon lights thinking that the future would be like a whole new world with an advanced society.”
“But in reality, things didn’t actually change that much. Hell, cars that can fly & self drive are basically still prototypes today. I doubt those’ll be mainstream until the 2030s. Maybe even longer.”
…
“I can think of other forms of nostalgic art that aren’t necessarily Retro Futuristic. In fact… Just about any kind of art can be nostalgic depending on the person.”
“Imagine a blank canvas if you will. A black one at that. Now add some stars to it. Golden stars for good contrast against the jet black paper. Ones that sparkle. Now add the moon. A golden moon. Make it crescent for even more contrast. Now place a star within the crescent gap. What have we just made?”
…
“That’s right. A night sky. It’s simple. But as an old saying goes… There’s beauty in simplicity. A night sky is supposed to be calm. Beautiful. A natural work of art. It imbues a feeling of peace & tranquility within us. The art itself looks like something we could’ve made in Kindergarten. Like an arts & crafts project. A distant memory that we remember fondly. And that… Is nostalgic.”
“Furthermore, music can also trigger nostalgia. Typically, Liminal Space has it’s own dedicated genre of music. Dreamcore comes to mind. Usually consisting of somber tones or various ambience. But any music can be nostalgic depending on the person.”
…
“Hmmm… Wanna find a different room? This one is nice & all, but it’s basically just an endless road.”
…
“Yeah, that’s fine. Didn’t feel like driving anymore anyway.”
*driving sound stops*
……….
*door opening sound*
“GASP!”
…
“Oh My God… I… I’m speechless. I don’t know what to say.”
…
“Okay, so… To put it simply… This is the house I grew up in. And it’s in the same condition that it was in when I was 5 years old.”
“This is unreal. I recognize everything in here. Like this old pellet stove. Ahhh, I remember when we used to warm the house with this thing.”
…
“We stopped using it because it eventually started shooting soot & smoke into the house. For what reason, we don’t know. And we never bothered to fix it. So we relied on other heating methods.”
…
“Oh yeah. That’s the old box TV I mentioned earlier. Didn’t think we’d actually see it. This is so weird, but I love it!”
“My old Nintendo GameCube is here to. With all the games I used to own. I’m so happy right now! Haha~”
…
“Of course we can check out my room. That's the best part.”
…..
“Here we are. Jeez, the carpet is just as hideous as I remember. But I don't care. I adore it!"
...
"The carpet used to be white, but it kept getting dirtier & more stained over the years. Wasn't easy to clean either."
"Ahhh, & my cozy bed. With all my plushies & the flower pattern blanket. So comfy!"
...
"Glad you noticed my Windows XP computer. It may be a piece of junk... But it was MY piece of junk. It wouldn't be able to run any modern game, but it was perfect for what I used it for. Humongous Entertainment games. Those were the best."
"Wow, I feel old looking at all this.”
…
“I suppose it does feel a bit redundant to use the word ‘Old’ all the time. We’re in Liminal Space. Everything is old."
…
“All this stuff reminds me of simpler times. Nostalgia is a drug, ya know? We only ever get to experience our childhood once. And it’s the time when we have our fondest memories. Growing up, learning so many new things, not having any responsibilities… And having the most fun. It’s a time that many of us wish we could return to.”
…
“I’m glad that you’re enjoying this as much as I am. This is kinda like… A Liminal Date.”
…
“I could run around Liminal Space… Probably forever to be honest. Haha~ What about you? Wanna keep exploring?”
…
“Hehe~ You & I clearly share the same brain cell. We'll keep going after we spend some more time in my old house. I'm not done here yet.”
----------------------------------‐-----------------------------------

June 18, 2024
Today was just a flurry of activity, wasn't it? I got on the road to go to a school event for some press and to help spread the word about what they were doing. Good stuff and the drive out there went pretty well.
But c'mon, the highlight was that Nintendo Direct. Sure, everyone thought there wouldn't be a lot because we're winding down the Switch's life, but they go, "Fine, new Mario & Luigi, new Mario Party, Donkey Kong Country Returns remaster, new Zelda game where you play as Zelda, an Ace Attorney Investigations collection with a previously unlocalized game, a Marvel vs Capcom collection that answers what a passionate fan movement has wanted for years, a bunch of little trimmings. And we'll throw in Metroid Prime 4 existing." It was a blast to watch, and the reactions from the crowd over the MvC bunch has been just as much fun.
But I stuck close by in the evening because I was tired from the drive. And hey, Perfect Dark showed up on the N64 app thing so I immediately dove into that. Multiplayer remains one of the best things I've ever experienced in a game, which was neat to see.
The week rolls on with an off day. Hope you're having a good one too!

Welcome to the latest episode of 1UP Pod’s new series, Retro Reboot! The show that sees our three hosts discussing two retro games of note and then pitching their modern day reboot! This month’s episode includes the notorious Night Trap, Peter Molyneux’s ambitious god-sim Black & White, and overlooked PS1 adventure game Kingsley’s Adventure!
This episode sees Orange, Andy, and Foxy discuss a lot of memorable games (for good and bad reason) – including 1992’s Road Avenger, 1995’s Yoshi’s Island and Donkey Kong Country 2, 1994’s Night Trap, 2001’s Black & White, and 1999’s Kingsley’s Adventure!
Hear about Andy’s personal gaming masochism as he discusses two kinda bad (ok, very bad) Mega CD titles, and then mounting the difficult task of rebooting Night Trap – considered one of the worst games of all time! Foxy gets nostalgic with his favourite platforming game and an incredibly ambitious god-sim that is sadly no longer available to play, while Orange celebrates another platforming sequel and an overlooked gem from the PS1 era.

🎮 — favorite video game(s)? for @moonlessnight125 from a munday meme.
Spider-Man on PS4, Super Mario Odyssey, Super Mario Sunshine, Road 96, Pokemon X, Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu, Pokemon Legends Arceus, Pokemon Go, Donkey Kong Country, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Timesplitters 2 and 3, Life is Strange 1, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, and Star Wars Force Unleashed (The Wii version specifically) all come to mind. I'm also a HUGE fan of the Watch_Dogs Series, the Ace Attorney series, the Tomb Raider series, the Batman Arkham series, the Horizon series, Tony Hawk series and Injustice series but would struggle to pick a favorite entry in those.

The mid 90's was the height of music, but for The Chimps it was their lowest point. After an awful Banarijuana withdraw meltdown between Diddy and Dixie, it caused a breakup. The group of drum banging, heavy hitting monkeys went on a five year hiatus, enjoying life as it is. Some others however decided to go solo. Chunky's rap album hit the shelves, Cranky's piano pieces played at fancy restaurants, but even today in grandma's grocery store or a rushed broken game you may hear the grand hit wonder from Lanky Kong's only solo country album titled "My Truck, My Wife And A Bunch Of Bananas" with a hit that made the album sold millions worldwide. Take Me Home, Donkey Kong Country Roads was a masterful piece that not only moved 80-Hour A Week Truck Drivers, but Lanky Kong himself. A song that was less about wanting to go home, but with his friends back in the break up. While Lanky was a third banana playing acoustic guitar for the band, being only used for only two songs of their five albums, was very beloved by the band. Some interviews from Chunky said that he was "truly the peanut butter that stuck this peanut butter banana sandwich. A messy one, but a good enough one!" Featuring this song is a lone banjo bear man that Lanky knew very well during a game gig during the band's down time. Check out The Chimps' 30th anniversary compilation greatest hits album coming this April! Featuring Smooth Crocodile, Chimplovania, Wonder Kong, and not this song because it's not by The Chimps, it's LANKY KONG, STOP CONTACTING ME. THAT'S THE REASON WHY IT'S NOT AT
Jeorge Badman, piece from the Rolling Nut of ‘13
