okay fine. headcanon that Phantom has no real sense of personal space.

granted, none of them did when they were first summoned. the pit is not known for personal space, so it really is an abstract concept to learn when summoned.

but Phantom? it's hard for him to adapt to this new concept. he doesn't mean to, and he's getting better at it, but he's a stage level 5 clinger.

when first summoned, if he saw something interesting about one of the ghouls (let's use Rain's gills for this instance), he wouldn't ask. wouldn't say anything. he just immediately went and touched them, fascinated how they seem to have a mind of their own. Rain was... very flustered, and annoyed, to say the least. Phantom was confused and upset when he got told off about it.

He's done it with all the band ghouls, and the worst reaction he got was when he first saw Dew’s hair in all its glory (glory being dried, brushed out, down). he got told off with Rain, he got yelled at by Dew.

but he's getting better. if only by a little; now he asks before he touches someone.

something that i pay closer attention to every time i watch this film is the way everybody dresses. theres a clear color palette you see very widely spread among the inmates on screen thats particularly cool toned with a fuck ton of blues, some grays and blacks. it really makes the characters wearing red stand out since its used so scarcely, which is like the most simple thing a film could do visually, but it does give you an idea about everbodys character and how they try their hardest to stand out. what comes to mind in particular is that i dont think you see Clay wear red even once the whole film. aside from the random background inmates, it makes you kindof notice who opposes him in a very subtle way? in particular you see clay in his very cold blues while Ade in comparison is seen in VERY vibrant reds almost every time you see him and it contrasts in the scenes that flip back and forth between them really harshly. it already gets revealed that Clay's grip on the wing is shaky but watching the movie a couple times its noticable in the subtle ways how Ade is very much one of the inmates who opposes him this way and already has authority over him without it needing to be said. the color palette is delicious

another thing with the wardrobe choices, and this is a smaller thing, is how paul is never wearing short sleeves. the reason why is given very early on and you can easily enough put two and two together if youre paying attention. but its just such a subtle choice to never, once, be wearing short sleeves without longer ones underneath them except for THE VERY LAST SCENE in which he is WITH JACK. in which he is in SAFE COMPANY and he chooses to be vulnerable and open up to jack about his past. this is the only time hes wearing short sleeves. the single time. can anybody hear me. hello

I LOVE going everywhere by bike. Don't need to wait for a bus. Don't need to cram myself into a bus with (urgh) people. Or even worse, what feels like every single student in town. I still get home in about the same amount of time. I'm so so flexible including with places. Like yeah sure, let's go there! I don't care if the next bus station is far away. Doesn't matter to me.

Stayed out late with friends recently. Two of em had to get their family to come pick them up because that's too far to walk and it was too late for buses. A different friend lives like 30 minutes away but always walks and their way goes through a small park where literally no one is at with few lanterns so it's pitch black and I could literally just walk them home and then take the bike which is faster and has its own light and feels and probably is safer than walking those dark ass streets at night alone.

Like. I can just do all that. And yeah, sometimes when I'm not doing too well I feel like collapsing afterwards and yeah, maybe my fingers feel like falling off a lot at this time of year but that's like. SO worth it. I have no idea how people can live and NOT go everywhere by bike. Like if it's more than 20-30 minutes maybe but even with hills.... I fucking love my bike.
