VERY sorry i didnt answer this til now but now im in the warrior catted rant mood so. here goes!

i honestly think the authors have Seen that people are fine with them being lazy, and they've gotten WAY too used to it.

i think the greatest and most recent example of this was that throughout the Entirety of the book 'darkness within', thunderclan was spelled as Thunderclan for the ENTIRE BOOK. (its supposed to be ThunderClan)

like, one time is "oh the editors missed it, no big deal, it happens". but...the entire book? every single time it's mentioned? and it's not like it's only mentioned like, 2 or 3 times. i would absolutely put it up in the 20+ range. 20+ times they mistyped thunderclan and not a single person pointed it out. how does that even happen?

there's always been shit wrong with the books editing wise, like dead characters being listed as alive still, characters' descriptions being wrong (yes, including main characters, somehow), someone's name being messed up, a character being incorrectly called someone else's parent/sibling/kid/etc, the list goes on. minor mistakes that all come from the erins evidently not having a series bible.

and like, at first it's not annoying. but after reading over 100 of these books, each and every single one of them containing multiple mistakes, it REALLY feels like they aren't trying anymore, if they were ever trying at all :]

there is a character who has died, like, 3 times. there is a character who has powers for an entire book! and then proceeds to not have them in any other book, nor are they mentioned again. there is an entire field guide about how the clans came to be, which is then not followed at all by the ARC about how the clans came to be, rendering that entire book completely useless and misinformation.

the continuity errors in this series are. just. so frustrating to read when you've been a long time fan and you know this series better than the authors do. and i hate to sound, like, pretentious by saying that? but come ON. some of this shit is like, basic stuff. how hard is it to remember that mistystar and stonefur's dad is oakheart, not graystripe, when that's a HUGE plot point in your series? how hard is it to remember the way redtail and oakheart were killed, when that is a HUGE PLOT POINT IN YOUR SERIES!!!!!

it's like they just write shit, give it a once over to make sure its not that bad, and then publish it!!!! please try!! like at all!!!!!

i haven't read leopardstar's honor yet, which just came out a week or so ago, but i've heard that book is agregious when it comes to mistakes. apparently there's an entire set of chapters that were published out of order. there's a chapter where leopardstar makes featherpaw and stormpaw apprentices, which is then followed by a chapter where she talks to another character about their apprentice ceremony, which apparently Hasn't Happened Yet, But Will Soon! HOW THE HELL DOES THAT HAPPEN !!!!

not to mention in that same book, the allegiances were so fucked up when they first came out. (idk if it was fixed in the final copy) one character was listed twice. a second character was also listed twice, but once as a kit, once as a warrior. his mother was still in the nursery with him, but his father was also still an apprentice. ???? also a whole group of characters that weren't born during that time period were warriors. somehow. like. who edited this book I JUST WANT TO TALK!!!

jumin route rewrite???

ive had.... Issues with jumin's route since the first time i played it and im waiting out a 3 hour layover which means its time to self indulgently fix all of those problems right now in excruciating detail

for the record, i dont mean any disrespect towards cheritz -- i love mysme dearly and this is purely a self indulgent experiment to see what my ideal jumin route would have been! if you like his route as is thats totally fine! it just wasnt for me lmao

this was super fun to write and if this picks up i might do another route rewrite (and i might do it even if it doesnt because it was just that fun lol)

anyways this is REALLY long (literally its like 3k words all in outline form) so its gonna go under the cut lol

okay so: issues i had with jumin’s route that i want to address:

it moves WAY too fast — i mean all of the routes do to a certain degree; they’re only 11 days long but like... you’re literally engaged to him by the end of it which iirc, is something that is only replicated in seven’s normal ending (and even then i think its only implied?) and i get that the point is that jumin goes all out for the people he loves and is VERY certain that he loves you but it just feels... way too soon for my liking ESPECIALLY because you’re his first love! it just makes it feel like he’s caught up in the rush of being in love for the first time and isn’t thinking things through which... isn’t exactly the making of a great relationship lol. so for this re- write we’re gonna slow it WAY down because... oof. 

the sarah and glam plot line happening concurrently with the mint eye/possessive jumin one makes the route feel overly busy. i actually have a similar issue with the echo girl/mint eye overlap in zen’s route but that’s a topic for another day lol. so i’m gonna try to delineate between the two a bit more so there’s less overlap.

SPEAKING OF possessive jumin lol... maybe its just my Personal Background bleeding in, but possessiveness is a really big red flag/trigger for me and i felt like it went WAY too far in his route. dgmw, i understand that its meant to be a character flaw and something he’s meant to overcome but i just feel like there are simpler ways to show that side of him without it becoming... as scary as it got. i wasn’t sure how to deal with it though -- i think it would best be expressed through smaller actions and the minutia of dialogue with the others (e.g. jumin refusing to send a photo of you into the chat room when zen asks if you’re alright, locking up elizabeth, etc.)

the canon first kiss with jumin happening both without your explicit consent AND just to drive sarah away is.... icky to me. especially because he MAKES EYE CONTACT WITH SARAH while kissing you??? i hate that cg lol. it just takes what should be a moment about the two of you and turns it into him using you to prove a point and i don’t like it at all. it’s not romantic and it feels... out of character for jumin to use someone he cares about like that. i have similar issues with the proposal happening right after he exposes glam and sarah. so lets make the kiss more genuine and nix the proposal entirely because it happens too quickly for comfort anyways.

with all of that in mind, i decided a fake dating plot would probably work best (and like i said, this is self indulgent and i’m a SUCKER for fake dating stories sooooo). it makes sure we hit all the beats of the glam/sarah plot line without shoving him and the mc into a relationship too quickly. it also means we can keep their first kiss as a big “fuck you” to sarah, but this time mc gets to be 100% in on the joke AND they get to have a “real” first kiss later on! that’s two (2!) kisses for the price of one folks.

i also decided that in order to streamline the plot a bit, the glam and sarah plot should end earlier, allowing for the mint eye plot to take center stage instead of being shoehorned in around a larger love triangle plot line. also glam and sarah are annoying and i don’t want to deal with them for six full days. the only downside is we don’t get to see v dunk on sarah at the party :-(

in lieu of a proposal for the necessary Big Romantic Gesture at the party, i thought it would be nice if jumin whisked you away from the party to paris or somewhere far away for a ridiculously extravagant first date literally in the middle of the party. not only is it ridiculously grandiose in and of itself, but in abandoning the party halfway through, it shows that jumin has grown into a more relaxed and spontaneous person through knowing you! he’s ready to throw caution to the wind and have fun with you (plus, Big Romantic Date cg!!)

day 5:

VN mode where we essentially get the exact same scene of chairman han telling jumin he wants him to marry sarah to make the merger with sugar round go more smoothly BUT this time jumin blurts out that he’s already with someone and that he didn’t want to go public with it yet. he assumes his father won’t press further, given that they’ve always had a mutual respect for one another’s privacy, but at glam’s insistence, chairman han says he wants to meet jumin’s partner. oh no!

jumin laments his situation to the rfa, resulting in pretty typical responses. zen laughs, yoosung is sympathetic but also kind of wishes it were just that simple for him to meet a wife. jaehee is worried that the inevitable fallout of this will result in more work for her. everything is business as usual until seven is like “ur so rich why don’t you just pay someone to pretend to date you lolol” and jumin (being, well, jumin) runs with it 100%. because they don’t have time to vet candidates (they’re supposed to have dinner with his dad tomorrow night!) he decides it should be someone he knows, but the majority of the other rfa members are already acquainted with his father via rfa events, making it more likely that he sees through the ruse. mc, however, has never met him, making them the perfect candidate! who would have thought lol

so they decide to move you into the penthouse that evening BUT before that can happen, they have to clear it with v because bomb, hacker, mint eye, etc. (yes this is how i’m choosing to do the bomb reveal lol). bonus, v gets to chide jumin about his dumb lie and we get a fun bff conversation with them!

final VN where you show up to the penthouse and you and jumin establish the parameters of your “relationship”. you decide that you’ll both sleep in his bed, just in case a cleaning staff member walks in and notices that he and his partner sleep separately and it ruins everything. establish what physical contact is and isn’t cool, etc, etc. you also decide that when the time comes, you’re going to tell his dad that the entire debacle with sarah put so much strain on your relationship that you had to break up. the hope being that chairman han will feel so bad about ruining things for jumin that he won’t try to force him into something like that ever again.

days 6-8:

you have dinner with his dad and answer pretty typical “meeting the parrents” questions. he asks what you guys did for your first date and jumin tells a 100% fake story about taking you to dinner on top of the eiffel tower and kissing you beneath the stars and the chairman is satisfied. that doesn’t mean that glam and sarah are though. they decide to do some sleuthing to prove that you guys aren’t really dating.

this is the fun part where we get to hit most of the beats of ur typical fake dating story! you and jumin get to know each other really well, albeit kind of superficially (favorite foods, fun childhood stories, etc. etc. nothing too heavy yet.) you guys cook together for the first time, cue cg of jumin with like... idk tomato sauce on his cheek or something. you watch a movie together and elizabeth falls asleep on your lap and jumin dies on spot idk

this is also where your first kiss happens, and pretty much in the same way except its much more mutual and he doesn’t look at sarah this time because his focus is on trying to make it look like he doesn’t even care that she’s there because you’re the only thing he cares about. (which.... isn’t actually hard for him to do at all)

chatrooms are pretty typical for this timeframe — you guys all know the drill. the other members are like “wow they seem really close” and speculate on whether or not you guys are actually together. zen is worried that jumin is going to force himself on you (wolves, etc.). yoosung is jealous that jumin gets to hang out with you. jaehee is upset that jumin is neglecting his work.

VAGUE mentions of weird activity on the messenger, but nothing too serious sounding. just enough to make jumin nervous -- esp with sarah and glam on his back still. this is when he locks elizabeth up. 

 day 8, the chairman learns that sugar round is worthless and that glam and sarah have been duping him the whole time. they’re disgraced and are never heard from again so... problem solved but this also means that you and jumin no longer have a reason to stay “together”... and you’re both kind of falling for each other so obviously that’s no good. you spend one last night in the penthouse before resolving to break things off officially in the morning. the other members talk about how sad you guys both seem to be parting.

BAD STORY END 1:

if you shy away at the fake intimate gestures (hand holding, hugging, etc), and pointedly answer incorrectly when asked a question about jumin that you should know the answer to, your ruse fails and you guys are caught faking the relationship. to avoid the scandal breaking to the press, jumin winds up marrying sarah anyways.

the branch point for this one would be right before the kiss scene, if you’re on track for the good end then the kiss happens, if not, you’re forced to shove him away when he goes in for it, revealing to sarah that you guys are frauds.

the cg would be him and sarah at the press release for their engagement announcement. sarah’s all smiles and jumin is... pretty understandably miserable looking. a reporter asks him about the other person he was in a relationship with prior to his engagement to sarah, and he reads off a line about how sarah captivated him like no one else ever could in an emotionless voice.

BAD RELATIONSHIP END 1:

if you do fine during the VN portions, but aren’t active enough in the chats, then the fake relationship plan works, but afterwards its just... really awkward. once the whole mint eye thing ends you’re pretty much just excommunicated from the rfa since you... didn’t really seem to like them all that much.

day 9:

a huge attack on the messenger happens, coupled with explicit threats directed at mc, sending everyone into such a panic that ending your fake relationship is the last thing on anyones mind. jumin is so fucking scared that he’s going to lose you, and muses in the chatroom about why he’s more scared for your safety than he would be if it were, say, yoosung being threatened (cue yoosung’s crying emoji lmao). everyone else is like “well clearly its because you’re in love with them”

anyways. they decide its for the best if you continue to stay at the penthouse and in spite of everything, you’re both... kind of relieved lol. 

everything is all fine and dandy until elizabeth III runs away, ramping jumins anxiety up to 11 like... right away

this is where we really start to see behavior more along the lines of what happens in his route, you suggest the two of you leave and search for elizabeth, and he refuses to let you go, etc. etc. 

it sort of turns into a fight, but it all works out in the end. he tells you about rika and elizabeth and why she means so much to him, and you guys talk about how fear of losing someone important to him can’t rule his life, and that its one thing to be careful, but another entirely to try to control someone else’s behavior because of fear. 

you convince him to get some sleep, assuring him that elizabeth will turn up soon and that he’s going to be alright. you guys fall asleep next to eachother without even thinking about it. its not until jumin mentions something about waking up next to you in the chat the next day that the rest of the gang is like “uhhhh,,,, why are you guys still sharing a bed”

MEANWHILE lol seven and yoosung arrive at mint eye and find elizabeth, just like what happens in canon. they decide to bring her back tomorrow.

BAD STORY END 2:

obligatory mint eye ending. if you’re too aggressive and forward with jumin and don’t give him time to properly process his feelings, he doesn’t offer to let you stay at the penthouse, relying on seven’s assurance that the apartment is totally secure (it’s not). saeran breaks in and takes you away.

this branch happens pretty early in the day, before elizabeth escapes.

i thought about a cg for this one but tbh... there are so many saeran and mc at mint eye BE cgs that idk what i could come up with that wouldn’t be super derivative lol

BAD RELATIONSHIP END 2:

again, because you’re only talking to jumin and not the rest of the rfa, he assumes that you don’t like being in the rfa very much BUT he still likes you... a lot and is very worried about your safety re: hacker, AND because he still hasn’t really dealt with his issues regarding v/rika/emotions, you guys decide to just straight up leave lol. you move to a different country where he can pretty much continue doing his work remotely while keeping you safe.

the cg for this one is the two of you in a different cushy apartment somewhere. you’re making dinner while he works. its... stable, but noticeably stiff. neither of you are talking much and his dialogue is pretty stilted. its pretty clear that he regrets abandoning his friends and is unhappy.

day 10:

3AM chat with zen where he speaks entirely in thinly veiled hypotheticals about you guys. (“well, if i thought i could have a shot with someone i really loved, i think i would take that chance and tell them, even if i might get shot down. and even if that person was a huge ass who my sexy white-haired best friend hated. i would tell them how i felt”)

seven secures the messenger again and the threat is declared neutralized! you’re safe to go home but neither you nor jumin want that at all.

yoosung brings elizabeth back around 9, and it proceeds pretty similarly to what happens in his route: he’s wary about taking her back because he feels that he’s mistreated her, you’re like “whoa buddy you’re going too far in the opposite direction here” and you and v have to convince hm that its going to be okay. the only real difference is that v doesnt also have to convince him to let you go. he just says something about how the two of you seem to bring out the best in each other, and that jumin is brighter when you’re around. 

later, jumin (tries) to make you lunch using the cooking skills you taught him a few days ago as a final payment (since you refused actual money) for all of your help, both with his father and with elizabeth, but he winds up ordering in instead. its very cute BUT its super awkward because neither of you has said anything about not wanting to leave.

finally you have to face the music and pack your bags. you hug jumin goodbye and make him promise to still get lunch with you sometime before heading back to rika’s apartment sadly.

everyone is like “yo what the fuck???” and its actually yoosung of all people who is finally like “this is ridiculous. you two clearly have feelings for each other and you need to deal with it” 

jumin is absent from most of the chatrooms for the rest of the day  though, so he doesn’t really see anything until he forces himself to log on later that night and is like “oh”

and YES of course this is going to culminate in a typical romcom scene where he has driver kim race to the apartment so he can pound on the door and apologize to you and tell you how he feels!! maybe it even happens in the rain just to maximize romance. the important thing here is that you finally kiss him for real this time and its perfect.

BAD STORY END 3:

pretty much jumin’s BE2, if you werent assertive enough with him re: his possession/control issues on day 9, he never gets over them. when elizabeth is returned he locks her back up and insists that you continue to stay with him as well, canon BE2 ensues.

i gotta hand it to cheritz. its a really good bad ending and theres not much i wanna change about it. its so scary in a calm sort of way, which i think is the perfect vibe for a dangerously unhealthy jumin. if only people would stop fetishizing it lolol

party (GE ver):

you and jumin mingle with the guests and the other members for a bit, but as the evening goes on, jumin gets restless. he pulls you aside and tells you that, while you did a wonderful job planning the party, he can’t help but regret that your guys’ first

date is technically a work function. especially when the fake first date you told his father was so perfect. he then decides that the two of you have been there long enough to fulfill your obligations, and that no one could really begrudge you if you “took off” a little early. you guys fly to paris that night and have that dinner on top of the eiffel tower.

the ending cg isn’t a kiss one, but a more simple, sweet one of the two of you in a dimly lit restaurant, jumin listening to you talk with the most tender, loving look in his eyes.

party (NE ver):

you and jumin mingle with the guests and the other members for a bit, but as the evening goes on, jumin gets restless. he pulls you aside and tells you that, while you did a wonderful job planning the party, he can’t help but regret that your guys’ first date is technically a work function. especially when the fake first date you told his father was so perfect. he laments the fact that if he was caught shirking responsibilities to take you on a real date, the press would have a field day with it, but promises to make it up to you, and take you out on a proper one tomorrow.

this cg is the two of you dancing at the rfa party, jumin resting his chin on the top of your head and daydreaming out loud about everything the two of you could do on your real first date.

Psycho-Pass Week 2019

Day 2: Yellow/ Joy

After so many years spent surrounded by nothing but unyielding white, Kagari will always remember how amazed he was at how colorful the world outside was. All of the colors stood out individually in his mind but particularly among them that first warm, cheerful shade of yellow.

The first thing Kagari noticed as he stepped outside after leaving the rehabilitation center was the vibrant tone of the light that illuminated the area. Rather than the harsh whiteness that he was familiar with, a subtle, cheerful yellow hue seemed to glow in the air around him. A wide closed-lipped smile stretched across his face as he held out a hand, turning it back and forth in front of himself as he noted the difference in his skin’s appearance in the new shade of light, leaving it looking warm and alive for once instead of sickly and washed out.

 Tilting his head back Kagari shaded his eyes against the brightness, noting that the sun above him too shone with the same yellow hue. After being surrounded by so much unyielding white for year after year, he was pretty sure that the change was one he could quickly grow used to.

 “Don’t stare at the sun Enforcer Kagari,… you’ll damage your eyesight.” came a curt voice from behind him.

Turning Kagari blinked away the bright spots that dotted his vision, revealing the form of Inspector Ginoza once they had cleared. He presented the Inspector with an overly broad, toothy smile along with a mock salute. “…Sure thing, Gino-san.”

 Ginoza sighed, pushing his glasses further up his nose with one hand as he frowned faintly. “You are to address me as Inspector Ginoza, enforcer.”

 Kagari’s smile faded, his lips instead pursing themselves in an unseen pout behind Ginoza’s back, as he followed the Inspector toward the waiting car.

 Even Inspector Ginoza’s irritated tone could not dim Kagari’s mood for long however. As they drove through the city it was all Kagari could do to keep from pressing his nose against the window beside where he was seated in the back of the car, as he took in the bright flashing lights of the signs and displays that surrounded them with unbridled excitement.

From all angles a variety of colors ranging from pinks and reds, to blues and purples blinked and flickered at him, interspersed with vibrant yellow flashes which caught and held Kagari’s attention until they moved out of sight as the car traveled onward. As they passed by a sign that Kagari dimly remembered from his childhood, he leaned his forehead against the window for a better look, after a moment determining it to be for a restaurant.

 Kagari looked away from the window just in time to catch sight of Ginoza’s eyes watching him in the rearview mirror before they turned away, some emotion that Kagari couldn’t quite place but still found rankled him, flickering in their depths for an instant. Kagari turned away from the inspector, his lip curling.

 A slight huff preceded Ginoza’s next words, which were spoken a moment later. “Have you eaten?”

 Eyes widening with surprise Kagari’s gaze jerked back to Ginoza, words failing him at the moment. It was well past lunchtime, and as the rehabilitation facility had been informed that Kagari would be picked up by an inspector by that time, the bland lunch Kagari would normally have been given had been deemed unnecessary, with the assumption that he would have been transferred to MWPSB headquarters by then. He could only shake his head in a negative response still shocked over the unexpected question.

Kagari’s surprise only deepened as Ginoza replied with a quiet grunt, shifting the car to manual control before diverting their course away from headquarters and onto the nearest off ramp.

 As the car came to a stop in the parking lot of the restaurant and Kagari was ordered out, he looked around curiously at his surroundings taking in the sights and sounds more intently during the few more moments he was being granted to remain outside of confinement. Following Ginoza inside the building Kagari stared in wonder at the colorful menu of meal options that appeared and vanished before him, already beginning to salivate. Everything he saw looked so good in comparison to the tasteless, colorless meals he had known for the majority of his life. Feeling like it might be impossible to choose just one Kagari jabbered enthusiastically about each new item to Ginoza as it appeared.

 “…Just choose one Enforcer Kagari…” ordered Ginoza, his growing impatience becoming more and more obvious the longer Kagari’s comments went on.

 “Aww Gino-san,… how can I pick just one?!” retorted Kagari, his eyes still fixed on the brilliantly colored menu. “I mean just look at that one, it looks like it’d be great. …And that other one has some sort of toy with it. It looks like it’d be kind of a small portion though. How am I supposed to decide?”

 Ignoring being addressed incorrectly once more for the moment, Ginoza looked at Kagari with an incredulous expression. “…Are you a child Enforcer Kagari?”

 Heat sprang to Kagari’s cheeks instantly at the tone in Ginoza’s voice, hoping that his embarrassment was not actually visible on his face. “…No…” he muttered, cramming his hands in his pockets as he turned his head to glare at nothing.

 After Kagari had placed his order, Ginoza directed him to sit at a table that was within his sight, and well away from any of the restaurants other patrons, warning Kagari that he was watching him and any inappropriate behavior would not be overlooked. Falling into a seat at the table with a huff Kagari folded his arms across his chest, turning his head slightly to watch out of the corner of his eye as Ginoza spoke with the person taking people’s orders for a few moments longer before heading toward where Kagari was seated.

 A short time later when a serving drone arrived with their meals Kagari was stunned to see that on the tray with the larger meal he had ordered, sat a small yellow egg shaped toy identical to the ones in the set that had been pictured with the children’s meal. Kagari’s smile lit up his face as he snatched his toy from the tray, his mouth already open to speak as he turned toward Ginoza, who glared at him fiercely for a moment before looking away.

 “Finish your meal quickly Enforcer. We’ve wasted enough time here already.” said Ginoza sharply, using his fork to stab at his own meal with unnecessary force as he spoke.

 Kagari’s smile twisted toward wryness as he remained silent, tucking the  brightly colored toy away in his coat pocket and patting it once to make sure it was secure, before he turned his attention toward his food. During the ride back Kagari took the toy back out of his pocket once more, happily playing with it and the miniature figurine inside, as he continued watching the colorful lights of the city flash past the car’s window.

 This might not turn out to be so bad after all… thought Kagari as he looked down at the lemony shell in his hand. In spite of ‘Inspector Ginoza’s’ fairly prickly personality,… at the very least things could be worse.  

 Eventually he managed to collect the rest of the set of toys and all of them, that first cheerfully yellow one included, found a place of dubious honor tucked under the edge of one of his workstation’s computer screens.

 During the weeks he spent recovering from his injuries after the sparring match he had proposed with Kogami, Kagari occupied his time settling on the décor and furnishings for the quarters he would be occupying as an enforcer. After all he had little else to do while stuck in the office all day, being currently barred from working in the field. And besides, that last thing he wanted was to end up stuck living in a boring, colorless space like he had been during his years in the rehabilitation center.

 As a result the selections for the furniture he was scrolling through were all either brightly colored, or boldly patterned, with his favorites so far being a pink and blue striped couch with a set of chairs each matching one of the stripe colors. Or the second option he was considering, which Kagari decided he would ask Yayoi’s opinion on.

  “What do you think about this, Kuni-chi?” asked Kagari as he swiveled slightly toward where Yayoi sat turning the tablet he was holding so that the female enforcer could see the selection of potential furniture that was displayed on it.

“…Really?” asked Yayoi as she looked up from the music book she was idly flipping through, her nose wrinkling almost imperceptibly at the nearly incandescent yellow shade of the couch and chairs that were displayed on Kagari’s tablet.

 Ignoring Yayoi’s reaction, Kagari’s grin only broadened as he punched in the confirmation of his selection. “They’re perfect!” he stated, nodding to himself as he set about picking more things to fill out the rest of the décor for his quarters.

 Yayoi continued eyeing Kagari for a few moments longer before going back to her own reading.

After the décor and furnishings for Kagari’s had been settled on and put into place, he was finally beginning to feel as if he were beginning to become adjusted to this new life outside of the rehabilitation facility. The other enforcers in Division One had decided to throw a ‘quarters-warming’ party to welcome Kagari to the group, now that he was fully healed and allowed to start working in the field with the rest of them. Old man Masaoka had insisted on cooking for the event, and Kogami had somehow persuaded Ginoza to let him off shift a half hour or so early, so that he could assist Masaoka and Kagari in getting the food for the party ready.

 Kogami had been assigned to cut the vegetables that were needed, while Masaoka handled the majority of the cooking and seasoning of the meals himself. In spite of Kagari’s supposed role of helping as well, he had been told to do little beyond occasionally stirring the contents of a pot or pan while Masaoka was busy with something else, and had spent the majority of his time sitting on the other side of the bar watching the other two work and admiring the vivid colors of the food that was being prepared. He especially was enjoying watching the bubbling golden surface of the oil that bubbled in a pan that had something frying in it, and the vivid yellow of the pepper Kogami was currently slicing up.

 “Do the different colored ones taste different from each other?” asked Kagari finally, leaning forward a bit over the countertop as he paused in swinging his legs.

 A half smile twitched one side of Masaoka’s mouth upward as he chuckled motioning toward Kogami with the handle of the spoon he was holding. “Why don’t you try them and find out for yourself? …Hey Ko, give him a bit of each of them.” Instructed Masaoka, snatching up a small dish from beside the stovetop, placing it a bit closer to where the other enforcer was working.

 Kogami’s gaze lifted from the cutting board in front of him for a moment, his eyes flicking toward Masaoka before he picked up the dish, putting a small slice of the yellow pepper on it before moving to flick a slice of the green and red peppers that he had already cut onto the dish as well. Stepping back toward where Kagari was he placed the dish in front of him, his expression unchanging though Kagari noticed that even as Kogami resumed his work he was still watching, waiting to see Kagari’s response.

 Ignoring the continued sensation of both Kogami and Masaoka’s eyes on him Kagari caught up the bit of green pepper and took a bite, his nose wrinkling a bit at the unfamiliar flavor before moving on to sample the others. As he bit into the yellow pepper slice Kagari’s eyes widened.

 “…Woah, this one tasted kind of sweet!” exclaimed Kagari looking back up at Masaoka in surprise.

 A broad smile split Masaoka’s face as he nodded, motioning toward the remaining bit of red pepper that was still on the dish. “And that one is even sweeter.”

 “Weird…” murmured Kagari his enthusiastic smile drawing an amused sounding huff from Kogami as he turned back to dicing the last of the vegetables.

 By the time that Masaoka had finished cooking the others began to arrive, the room quickly filling with unrestrained laughter and chatter as they settled in. To Kagari’s surprise even Inspector Ginoza came, staying for the first part of the party and bringing with him a small, unusual looking figurine as a housewarming gift.

 As the evening wore on and the food and celebratory drinks were consumed freely by nearly everyone, Kagari found himself to be pleasantly tipsy. He assumed that the others were as well, given that Kogami had taken to entertaining the group with card tricks accompanied by terrible jokes and puns that had Kagari doubled over laughing so hard that tears had come to his eyes. And Masaoka had taken to chuckling in quiet amusement at Kagari’s retorts, even going so far to ruffle his hair once or twice, while Yayoi simply smiled slightly, trading out her usual kicks to Kagari’s shins for elbowing his side instead.

 Where the food was concerned, Kagari thought that old man Masaoka’s cooking was probably the best thing he had ever eaten and had already decided that he wanted to become just as good a cook someday.

 Later on, after the party had come to a close and the others had wandered off to their own quarters with lazy calls of good night, Kagari let out a satisfied sigh, spreading his arms as he let himself fall backwards onto the yellow leather of his couch.

 Cleaning up could wait till later… he decided, shifting so that he could stretch himself out fully on the couch. Wrapping his arms around himself as he tipped his head back against the arm of the couch, Kagari was unable to stop the large, genuine grin that spread across his face when he thought back over the evening. He felt as if small sparks of excitement and happiness were dancing under his skin, while at the same time feeling as if he were wrapped up in a warm, fuzzy blanket of contentment.

 He wondered if this was what other people meant, when they talked about feeling joy.

My official stance on he/him lesbians is that it’s 1. none of my business and 2. none of your business.

I can see where some harm comes from, but it’s minuscule compared to other subgroups in the lgbt community like terfs, truscum, ect.  Like, there could be misgendering of he/him lesbians (or misgendering trans men by assuming they’re he/him lesbians) and getting connected with someone based on an assume connection where you’re both trans men but one ends up being a he/him lesbian while another is a trans man.  Which I suppose is a valid concern for trans men to have, considering many lesbians have a complex relationship with men from a platonic perspective (”man-hating lesbians” but like, not in a mean way, I’m just saying it as a fact that there are lesbians who don’t like hanging out with men. anti-sjws/”menimists” dont interact with this post ok there now you can take it neutrally) but its a problem that can easily be fixed with a little bit of understanding from both sides.  He/him (cis) lesbians don’t belong in spaces for trans men (however if they’re nonbinary or mtf, they do belong in trans spaces, just not spaces for trans men specifically) and if someone incorrectly assumes something about you, just correct them - and if you get corrected, say “oh, sorry!” instead of throwing a fit.

Like, there’s SO many aspects of movements for each lgbt movement that can be considered harmful to other aspects.  Ace inclusionism is considered homophobic, biphobic, transphobic, ect.  Sex positivity, which could be considered “harmful” to sex-repulsed aces (lgbt aces if you’re an exclusionist) like myself, is everywhere*.  People say bisexuals existing hurts lesbians and makes men think they can “convert” lesbians.  The whole bi/pan discourse thing.  Truscum discourse (but like, reasonable truscum people), demisexuality/a-spec discourse, things like faegender for people who clearly aren’t cishet either way, all that jazz- so much stuff conflicts.

* = if you’re going to say “woah wait that’s homophobic/biphobic whatever, what the fuck are you really saying gay ppl dont deserve sex positivity in the lgbt community” notice my wording “could be considered ‘harmful’”.  I’m saying that it’s something that’s debated.  As a matter of fact, I’m all for sex positivity in the lgbt community and that’s one thing I want sex-repulsed asexuals to shut up on.  Make a separate ace group if you don’t wanna deal with that.  And if I hear sex-repulsed alloro aces complaining about this im gonna shit my pants bc I’m romance-repulsed too and you’d prolly be offended if I told you to stop being romantic, right?  My point is that dont say “you guys should stop talking about sex” in the lgbt community (unless its graphic and involving minors, no safe sex ed being exposed to minors does not count unless it encourages minors to engage in sexual activity.  Ok? ok).  Let gay people and lesbians and bi people and pan people talk about their sexual urges and fantasies, they deserve it and I’m not going to let people suppress the very thing this community was made for - to embrace the sexuality of gay people, lesbians, trans people, bi people, pan people, ect.  Ok?  Ok.

My point is that we’re constantly butting heads over stupid shit.  Yall just need to calm down, eat some bread, respect people’s pronouns, and mind your own business regardless of what your opinion on it is.  Don’t like it? dont use he/him lesbian headcanons.  But don’t police how people express their sexuality/gender when the trans and gay communities have been interlinked for decades and it’s still a very complicated issue separating the two.

okay yes i have tips lemme think. im really tired rn so im to lazy to format this nicely oops but heres what i got… get ready for some rambling lol 

Write what you want to write, dont write for notes or write something you know others want but you yourself dont really feel like writing. Don’t feel pressured to write something you dont want to write. when you are writing because you want to write it, it makes everything a whole lot easier

come up with an idea and outline it a little if you dont want to get stuck. ngl i dont really do this, but it makes things a lot easier in the long run lol

if you’re writing a fanfic, dont feel like you need to keep the persons personality 100% accurate. in the end, we dont even know how said person would even react, we only see one side of them anyways. i like to think of it as having a character already created for you, you get to change what you need to change to fit the story. Using stray kids for example, changbin isn’t always some dark guy brooding in the corner, Jisung isn’t always some loud annoying dumb kid, chan isn’t always exhausted and on deaths edge, felix isn’t always a walking meme, so dont feel like you cant write for them because they dont fit your idea. (nothing is wrong with writing skz members like how i said above, because lets be real, its all kinda accurate anyways lol)

Just have fun with what you write, dont worry about editing anything, you can do that later. i just like to word dumb the first way through. editing and fixing plot holes comes later.

if you get stuck, talk with someone about your story, usually they can offer a little help, or just get you thinking enough to get inspired again.

but really in the end, write what you want to write, write how you like to write, and write at the pace you like. dont let anyone preassure you to do anything else or in any other way. writing is an art. you don’t tell an artist how to hold their paintbrush, no one should be telling you to change your writing. unless people cant even read said writing but i doubt that would ever be the case with anyone around here.

“what is up guys and welcome back to another video.”

to say that filming this video was going to be awkward, was an understatement. i was currently seated in the bedroom of my ex boyfriend, simon, filming one of the most awkward and uncomfortable videos to ever be filmed and put on the internet.

“today i’m here with a very special guest.” he stated before looking over at me.

“hi, its (y/n).” i introduced quietly.

the both of us paused awkwardly, letting the silence over take the atmosphere. the silence was broken but simon clearing his throat before he began to speak again. 

“and today we’re making a video to clear the air and to just... reminisce about the past and yeah.” 

i nodded along in agreement before taking over. 

“so basically, we’re going to have a ‘lightening round’ in which i’m going to ask some questions in the space of one minute that he has to answer. and then were gonna hop under the cover, cuddle a little and reminisce the good old days.” i explained, anxiously twiddling my thumbs around each other.

as i took my phone out of my back pocket, i could feel simon glancing at me. 

“are you sure you’re okay with this?” he asked, eyebrows raised.

i simply nodded in response, watching him take his own phone out. i brought up; the questions i had written down earlier, waiting for him to start the timer.

“right, so i have around 12 questions.” i said to the camera, “so lets see how many we manage to get through and how many you can get right.” i smiled, licking my lips before Simon started the timer.

“right, what was my favourite flavour of ice cream?”

“chocolate.” he asnwered confidently.

“okay, settle down with the cockiness.” i teased. “what was the name of the plush pup you bought for me for out 8 month anniversary?”

simon stopped to think for a moment before a blank expression drew acorss his face. he’d forgotten.

i scoffed slightly, cocking my eyebrow as i looked at him. 

“it wasn’t even that long ago.” i said, tapping my phone impatiently. 

he looked slightly guilty, never the less he answered incorrectly. 

“nope, when’s my birthday.” i continued.

“oh thats an easy one. (y/b/d).”

the questions continued until the one minute timer went off, signalling to stop asking questions. 

“well, to say the least you did shit.” i laughed, looking up at him before realising he was already smiling down at me. my breath hitched in my throat, quickly looking away and hopping up from the couch. i could feel the heat rushing to my cheeks, turning to look over at his bed. 

simon picked up the tripod, fixing it to ange at him bed. i hopped onto his bed and slid under the covers, snuggling into the mattress. simon hit record before hopping in behind me and spooning.

“this was always our favourite position.” he whispered cheekily, causing me to gasp and turn my body a little bit to hit his shoulder. 

simon took the lead this time, explaining that we were now going to look through old photos and talk about why we broke up.

“althought most of you already know why we broke up, for those of you that dont, we broke up due to some rumours and shit that was going on. and the both of our schedules weren’t matching so we called a quits.” he explained. 

my heart sunk,i had almost forgotten why we had broken up. i can remember the day so clearly.

simon pulled up some photos on his tv screen, flicking through them with the remote.

“i remember that day!” i squealed, a large smile spread across my face. “that was the day you fake proposed to me just to get free desserts.” i laughed, his shortly following mine. 

“and then later we got free movie vouchers as an ‘engagement gift.’“ he continued. 

just as i looked up at him he looked down at me. his eyes flickered from mine to then my lips.

Interview with former Takarazuka Top Star Sena Jun: why she thinks 'Takarazuka and AKB48 are alike'

This is a long interview with Sena Jun that goes into her TMS years and her journey to becoming Top Star. It was originally published in Smart Flash on August 10, 2017.

Smart Flash is...a bit of a tabloid, but this is direct text of an interview so I felt comfortable translating it. There are other articles about Takarazuka they have done but they feel more invasive so probably you won’t see any other Smart Flash content unless they do more interviews like this.

Interview with former Takarazuka Top Star Sena Jun: why she thinks 'Takarazuka and AKB48 are alike'

As a commemoration of the 25th year of her career, Sena Jun, former otokoyaku Top Star for the Takarazuka Revue, gave her first interview for FLASH. From details of her experience at the extremely strict Takarazuka Music School ('you must turn exactly at the corner of the corridor' 'you mustn't let the chime sound on the microwave') to 'why middle-aged men are into Takarazuka', she looked back on her career and told us everything frankly!

In her early childhood she tore her Achilles tendon and began studying ballet

What were you like in your early childhood? I'm originally from the Suginami Ward of Tokyo. I didn't like being in front of people or standing out much. While I had good motor skills as a young child, I didn't like being active very much. I especially hated sports. When we would play dodgeball, I was the type to run away until the very end. Sometimes one of the boys would start taking it way too seriously and really come after me but then I would just catch the ball...and therefore I just ended up standing out in the end, I suppose (laughs). The one exception was that I took classical ballet, starting from the middle of kindergarten.

What was the reason you started taking ballet? Before starting kindergarten, my leg was caught between the tires of a bicycle and it tore my achilles tendon. However, I had a a successful operation, and even though it was completely severed, once it was healed it was stronger than a normal person's. However, the tendon was shortened due to the operation and the doctor suggested that exercise would be good to make it grow again. My mother had also taken ballet in the past, so I began ballet lessons along with my rehabilitation. At that time, it would start really hurting during the rainy season (like the weather is now), or if I started running too abruptly.

Why did you decide to aim for Takarazuka? I ended up growing really tall. (I'm currently 168cm.) When I would wear toe shoes I was taller than the boys. I also had a larger build, so the characters I could perform in ballet were very limited. It so happened that the ballet school I would go to had something called a 'Takarazuka Exam Prep Class'. I had seen Takarazuka when I was little, so I thought 'that might be nice'. It wasn't that I had some deep yearning, or that I was a huge fan. I became a huge fan after entering the Revue. 'Wow, what a wonderful place I've joined' I would think.

At the TMS entrance ceremony, she couldn't hold back her laughter...

How old were you when you entered TMS? I took the exam at the end of my first year of highschool, and was a TMS student for 2 years starting with my second year of highschool. There are 4 chances to take the TMS entrance exam: When graduating from middle school, at the end of the first year of highschool, at the end of the second year of highschool, and when graduating from highschool. Since it depends on the specific person, and there are people who try every time, when entering TMS there are a lot of age gaps between people in the same class. In my class of 40 people, I was the third youngest. There's no heirarchy between classmates of different ages, however. There was one girl from the highschool I went to who was my senior, but she passed at the same time I did and ended up in the same class. At the beginning I couldn't help but feel it was a bit strange.

We hear that the relationships between class years is very strict... It starts from the very first day at the school. In TMS the junior students are called 'yokasei' and the senior students are called 'honkasei'; there are only those 2 years. Right after the entrance ceremony, the honkasei hold a guidance session for the yokasei called 'Interview Seminar'. It's like an orientation. We were lectured first on our posture and manner of walking as we came into the hall. After that all the yokasei and honkasei get in a circle facing each other, but the angle of our feet had to be precisely 60 degrees. Once, the girl next to me opened open her feet more than 60 degrees. Then one of the seniors angrily told her 'Ms. X, you are standing incorrectly. Your feet are open too far.' After that, all the yokasei had to say 'we're very sorry' and apologize all together. After apologizing, the girl next to me moved her feet back to around 60 degrees but then they were angry again and said 'don't just fix them as you please!' You had to say 'Excuse me. Please allow me to correct the angle of my feet' and get permission first.

It sounds like it would make you extremely anxious. Honestly, at that time it seemed so strange I was struggling not to laugh the entire time.

What? When you were being scolded? 'Why are they getting so seriously angry about something so petty?' I thought, and the laughter just started bubbling up. And then, the girl next to me who was scolded said "I'm very sorry" in a really annoyed way. At that, I was like, I can't take this any more, and I just started laughing. 'Ms. Doi (Sena's real name), are you laughing!' ...the honkasei were very angry. But that just made me laugh more (laughs).

It sounds like you're the type to think about how things look in the big picture? That might be something like it.

Bowing deeply to the trains from the station platform...

We hear that there are other special rules. Is it true 'junior students are not allowed to let the chime sound on the microwave'? If you live in the dorm, you're not allowed to make any noise at all. When I was a student, there were yokasei on the floor above me, but honkasei on the floor below. Therefore, when I was in the dorm I had to slide my feet to get around. Since otherwise, the sound would reach the floor below. And obviously this included the chime on the microwave. You needed to open it just before the timer was about to go off.

And is it true that 'the cleaning duties are so strictly enforced the location of all the furniture is decided down to the millimeter'? That's true. For example, whoever was assigned to cleaning the bathroom would have to put a flower in a vase on the sink. If the vase was supposed to be precisely between two of the mirrors, it would be a matter of exactly which tiles to set it between. If it was the slightest bit off they would get very angry with you.

Is there anything else? When you were on the station platform, you had to bow deeply to any train coming in...that kind of thing.

What was that? (laughs) Since there was a chance one of the honkasei might be on the train, you had to bow every time. We would wait on the platform in two lines. Of course any private talk was strictly forbidden. If a train came we would bow, no matter if it was on the platform we were boarding from or going the opposite way. And if they saw you didn't bow they would get angry with you.

And when they would get angry with you, what was it like, on the whole? They would call you out and make you stand in the hall, or the honkasei would lecture you in a classroom at night, that kind of thing. It was never the teachers, the tradition was for the seniors to scold you.

It sounds intense enough to put traditional baseball academies to shame If I think back on it now, it was really 'foundational things' that they taught us, I feel. Be considerate to your superiors, get permission before doing something, greet people properly...really the basics of getting along in society. There's a rule that comes up a lot, 'yokasei must turn precisely at the corners when on the stairs or in the hall'; even that originated from the foundation of 'in order not to run into a honkasei, we ought to just walk right at the edge'. You get out of the way of people who are above you, right? If we were to walk in the middle of the hall, we would only get in the way of the honkasei. Therefore you end up with extreme rules like 'you must walk at the edge of the stairs or hallway and turn exactly at the corner'.

Did they get angry with you very often, Ms. Sena? Not at me, no. There was a rule 'everything you wear or carry must be brown, navy blue, or black'. In any case, it had to be very plain. Now, I was a Shibuya-style girl, so I couldn't bear that. We were allowed to have one color item, so I wore nothing but Ralph Lauren polo shirts. 'Well? You can't get angry about this, can you?' was my attitude. I was a very saucy yokasei (laughs).

And what about when you became a honkasei? I never really got angry with my juniors. I was young in age, and my classmates spoiled me a bit, so I was very freespirited. However, I thought scolding others was a learning process in its own way; 'you have to take responsibility for your words, you have to talk to the other person and convey to them what the issue is.' My classmates would get angry with me and say 'you really have to lecture the juniors about such and such'.

And did you get properly angry? No, they would always figure out 'somebody else told her to come scold us' right away. From the very start, most of the juniors would just say 'I dont really remember'. And outside of class, I never went to the after-school one-on-one lessons and just slept in my room.

What? You don't have to go to lessons? As long as your attendance in the classes is perfect, they don't get angry. Honestly, I was so sleepy every day! They would call me 'the rare character who never appears' (laughs).

How many peoples' 'fave' can you become...

You graduated TMS and joined Flower Troupe in 1993, is that correct? When I graduated, I had a debut with all 40 members of my class. It was our first and last chance to be all together as a class on stage. That's like our presentation, and after that, we were split up into the different troupes. Each of the 4 troupes took 10 people. In my time it was Flower, Moon, Snow, and Star, making 4 (now there is also Cosmos). Each troupe's producer selects who they want, you can't choose for yourself.

What are each troupe's specialties? To put it roughly, at the time they were called 'Dancing Flower Troupe', 'Drama Moon Troupe', 'Nihonmono Snow Troupe', and 'Gorgeous Star Troupe'. But that is the way the fans see it, and it's not like performances are organized to fit the categories from this side.

After performing in Flower Troupe for more than 10 years, you moved to Moon Troupe in 2004 with the plan being for you to become the next Top Star. In 2005 you became Top Star. Is that kind of thing common? At the time it was rare, I suppose. 'Becoming Top Star straight after transferring,' that kind of situation.

How do they decide who becomes Top Star? The top management of the company makes the decision.

Why did you decide to become an otokoyaku? I thought 'what's the first thing anyone thinks of about Takarazuka? Otokoyaku!'

Personally, why do you think you became Top Star? Well...let me think about that. When I was in Flower, I felt 'since there are so many different sorts of otokoyaku here I should at least try to be cool'. There were lots of otokoyaku good at singing, and lots who were very strong in dance...in general, a lot of people. But I didn't excel at anything in particular. I was especially bad at singing. I thought 'it's not like I have to be particularly good, but I should at least be passable at all the main components', so I put a lot of effort into singing. After that, started considering how, among all the other otokoyaku, I could make myself into peoples' 'fave'*.

'Fave'? Yes. I think Takarazuka is a bit like AKB48. Fans see people who make a lot of effort and appreciate that. For example, in order to make it easier for the people sitting in the very back of the balcony to see you, ust trying to make your stance in the dance maybe even 1 centimeter wider than the others'. As I continued doing just those little things, the number of fans supporting me grew. AKB48's catchphrase is 'idols you can meet', but you can do things like demachi, so you can also meet Takarasiennes. We don't have elections based on CD sales (laughs), but demachi numbers and sales of tickets and goods are indicators of popularity. Takarazuka fanclubs are unofficial, so the company doesn't recognize them, but that also means there are no extreme restrictions on them. AKB48 also has a theatre, but if you go and see one of their stage shows you can tell at once who gets the good and bad casting...

They're really alike, I see. When I see what AKB48 is doing, I just think 'this is stuff Takarazuka has done for ages'. They say that the fans make the stars. Takarasiennes with strong support will gradually get more and more central positions; it feels like watching a race. Middle-aged men are also into that, I think. My father is a normal salaryman who never had any interest in Takarazuka before, but he says that more than the stage shows 'the system is really interesting.' He'll theorise 'maybe this person will be next', or realize 'this girl has been standing out since she was really small'; that kind of thing is really enjoyable to him. Therefore, even though when I became Top, he was always looking at these young kids, not me (laughs).

The movie system piques her interest

You retired in 2009. What was your reason for quitting? After I was given the starring role in 'The Great Gatsby', I felt that as an otokoyaku I'd done it all, and there wasn't any more I could express. After that, I talked to the company about leaving. I had burnout for a while. When I quit I didnt think I'd become an actress afterwards at all. But while I was still in the Revue, there was some talk of 'Elisabeth' and I thought 'that I'd like to try' so I ended up having my next job settled.

You're holding concerts for the 25th anniversary of your career in Tokyo and Osaka, but you said 'I was bad at singing'? It is amazing that you'd even do concerts. I dont think I'm that good even now, but up to about my 10th year in the business I really couldn't sing at all! I want to tell that terribly-singing past self 'you can do it!'. But it's quite different singing as an otokoyaku compared to singing as an actress, so it's a matter of trial and error still.

What kind of work will you be doing after this? I'd like to be in movies. I don't there the are genres in acting itself; I just want to know what it would feel like to be on a movie set. I'm interested in how they film it. How does it all come together, and such. For a stage play, we rehearse everything for about a month and a half, but for film it's all out of order and they don't film it chronologically. You have to think carefully 'when is this happening to me' when you perform. I'm really interested in how it all becomes a movie.

anyways, those cringy rant vids/posts. they are usually white teenage girls who go on and on about how someone called them “miss” when “excuse me????” *cough cough* “ACTUALLY, im genderfluid.” 

ok. howbout YOU excuse me. bc frankly, you look like a “miss”, so thats why i called you “miss”. i mean like i wont call you a bitch until you look like a female dog. yall lgbt ppl assumed this “dont assume” policy for yourselves. im willing to follow, but there will ofc be ppl out there who are not aware. dont blame them. from the moment any child is born, they are subjected to this hetero-normative view of how a person is identified as.  they are programmed from a young age that there is an order in which a person follows. if youre not female, youre male. there seems to be no other option. being lgbt creates the opportunity to be someone else. not all ppl are exposed to this. those who do take advantage of it. 

im part of the lgbt community myself (as i am bi), but im embarrassed for what some of you have done to demean the value of the lgbt community. its like how ppl seem to always be hating on feminists all over again, bc of some ppl taking it too far and dont fully understand what it means. just bc you dont conform to the norms of society when it comes to sexual orientation doesnt mean you get any special favour. my friends, even the gay ones, have been joking around about how “omg youre cant do _____ just bc im gay like thats not ok.” but i find the truth in what they joke around about. ppl from the lgbt seem to always be finding excuses to be offended when someone comments on their sexuality. 

take it from my experiences. i live near two schools, so there are lots of kids in my neighborhood. the school im going to is a very multicultural public school that has a lot of brown and asian kids (my squad), and the other school is a prestigious private school specializing in art that is predominantly white. both schools are very close, so we know the ins and outs of each other. admittedly, i have lots of friends from both of the schools: lgbt friends, non-lgbt friends, and friends who jokes/pretend that they are lgbt. my point is: i know this kid from the private school. there was a rumour that he is gay. i confronted to him and bluntly asked him if he is actually gay. he started yelling at me defensively, saying “do you have a problem??? you cant just hate me bc im gay.” I DID NOT DO ANYTHING. i didnt speak to him again. on the other hand, theres this muslim trangendered boy in my school. hes quite famous due to his gender identity. when i met him for the first time, i asked him if he is transgender. he was cool about it and just simply said “yeah. im pretty famous in this school arent i?” he didnt get offended. he didnt act defensively. we were off with a very good start. since our school are more multicultural than the private school, a lot of us coming from eastern countries. eastern countries are more conservative and they dont take kindly to “different” ppl. he worked hard to be who he wants to be, and he is confident with himself and his gender. 

not totally unrelated to this, but im a friend of a girl who goes to the private school. nice kid, very cute, great at dance. she usually dresses in pretty dresses and skirts. but one day, she came in with jeans, sweater, and short boyish hair. everyone was surprised. then she told everyone she is genderfluid. there were a lot of genderfluid ppl in the private school, not so much in my school. when i asked her how she knew, she said why not??

it seems like there is a trend on being lgbt+, especially in this demographic (white, female, teen). as soon as its openly accepted, ppl will conform to become a part of this new thing. even after joining tumblr and seeing all these new lgbt+ categories makes me question myself. i tried to fit myself into this label, and i feel that this is what is happening. before it is accepted in western countries, the idea was very hush hush. now that everyone is beginning to accept it, suddenly everyone is lgbt. not like “oh im closeted bc lgbt is not accepted and now im out bc its accepted.” no, its like “oh this lgbt thing is pretty new! lets see which category i THINK i fit in the best and squeeze myself into this label.” im sorry, if youre an actual lgbt veteran and you have been fighting all your life for acceptance and equal rights. but there are ppl who are trying to conform to this lgbt+ “thing” bc it seems like everyone is out as well. there are even some ppl who would go out of there way to make a point that they ARE indeed lgbt+. you cant just wake up one morning and decide that youre suddenly asexual, or pansexual (when you havent even had a sexual relationship) or genderfluid. its not fair to those who have worked so hard. but then again, im in no position to tell you who you are. you are the controller of your life. but dont act all defensive and go crying to your followers just bc someone makes a comment on your sexuality/gender but  youre not confident/sure enough about it to forget and forgive. if this is truly who you are, then TAKE ACTION. you dont need to prove to me that you are lgbt, just simply embrace it by expressing it. BELIEVE IN WHO YOU ARE. and dont be ashamed. you cant stop someone from assuming when you yourself dont accept that fact. who cares what others think.

ok so. after all that longass rant with the telling of my whole fucking life story, half-assed motivational quotes, and some rather rude use of language, the moral of the story is: i dont have a problem with your gender identification or sexual orientation, im actually fine with it. but i do have a problem with people using that as an excuse to act all disgusted and horrified and lash out on social media when someone may or may not have intentionally “offended” them. if its actually offensive, fine, you are free to make a point about it and shove it up their asses. but when someone asks you if youre gay, you DONT FUCKING GIVE THEM YOUR ATTITUDE. saying yes is enough. its up to their discretion to either shrug and move on (which i would do bc i dont care about your sexuality) or they can punch you in the face like a fucking trump supporter that they are. it is only when they punch you that you fight back. DONT FIGHT WHEN THERE IS NO REASON TO FIGHT AT ALL.

I am writing this because i am looking for some feedback within this community on how to change my life. Before i start, i want to say that i have been browsing this community for some time now and while i have picked up soke amazing ideas, the implementation of those ideas have been unsuccessful/tricky to make. I felt in major need of writing this as i am beginning to fall into what i feel is an Endless spiral of failure. I am looking for some guidance on how i can fix some areas of life.

INTRODUCTION

So lets start off with some background. Who am i? I am a 19 year old student who is looking to become the best i possibly can be, much like many other people browsing this sub-reddit. I've become very interested in changing my life over the last 2 years due to feeling inadequate with myself, along with not being satisfied with my current situation. I know that there is more to who i am, and so i want to be the one to make those essential changes.

ATTEMPTS & UNSUCCESSFUL CHANGES

I think that its quite key to focus on the positives that i have attained so far before wallowing into the negatives that could be improved. So here is a list of ideas/methods i have tried to implement but i have struggled with.

EXERCISE: I have tried to do small amounts of basic exercise everyday however i do not live close to a gym and am unable to drive at this time . Another thing which is putting me off is the lack of knowledge when it comes to training. I want to train, however i feel like im going to incorrectly work out and hurt myself. The solution for this is pay for a trainer, however with the finances of a student, plus the anxiety of looking like an absolute "Gym Noob", i havent racked the confidence to do this. I really want

DIET: I have been trying to make this my focus as there is study after study that proves a strong healthy-happy correlation. I think the problem with this area is once again, i have no expertise. I do what i feel is right which after time causes me to panic and stop dieting all together, because i feel like im causing myself more harm by not doing a diet correctly than actually at all. An example of this was when i looked into taking supplement to support my diet, only to find out that i was actually taking something loaded in nasty second-hand chemicals which caused migraines. On the other hand, being to extreme and eating one-sidedly which causes stomach upsets etc.

NOFAP: This is one of the key areas that im improving on however its really killing me mentally. I have made so many resets alongside restrictions to limit porn usage and i feel minimal progress. Now, i have gone from 2 day streaks to consistent 7 day streaks but i lose this due to bordem. I have read many posts about cold showers and keeping busy, but I can't seem to get into a continuous habit of being occupied long enough to not fap. Its driving me crazy as i havent had any sexual relations for 2 years now and it's making me anxious that im becoming an "Incel" and missing out on my youth.

SOCIAL: This is quite a hard area, if not the hardest for me at the moment. After leaving my college months back, i don't speak to old people i know anymore as i feel that i don't connect with them (truth be told, i never did.) I still speak to some girls from time to time, however i dont have anything that is successfully going for me to warrant turning it any further (I don't know if i would thinking about it). I have practically no genuine guy friends and it can be quite challenging at times. I know it's quite pessimistic but i feel that it gets harder to make friends as you get older, especially when i am pushing myself to a mindset of success. I feel at this stage, university is the only solid way for friendships, but i dont want that as an incentive to pay 36k for a Degree. Lastly, i dont consider the people i work with as Actual friends, as they have made it throughly clear that they are there for a paycheck (Which i can't blame them for, as i am the same).

WHAT I WANT & NEEDING YOUR ADVICE

So now that i have listed my wrongs/attempts, heres what i would love to ideally have with each area of improvement.

EXERCISE IMPROVEMENT: I want to be able to be confident in my body. This undoubtedly is by ACTUALLY working out, but also to feel comfortable that what i am doing is correct. On top of this, i would also like to get past my fear of looking new. I understand completely that you need to start and that no one is an expert straight away, but of course it's easier said than done.

DIET IMPROVEMENT: I want to be able to have a healthy diet that I know is reducing my weight, detoxifying my body, reducing my risk of cancers & disease and ACTUALLY TASTES NICE! I have no problems cooking (I love to cook) but i just need to find an app or set in stone diet with these things. I am really concious that im letting myself go and eating is the first step in change

NOFAP IMPROVEMENT: i want to NOT FUCK UP MY STREAKS 24/7. Its honestly that simple. Ive read so many stories of people gaining confidence, happiness, purpose, female attention and much more which Really motivates me on this path, but of course if it was easy then everyone would be doing it.

SOCIAL IMPROVEMENT: I would love to have my social group / status back somehow. To be able to have a solid group of friends that have partially similar life goals, incite into new or different journeys Like travelling, holidays or even just simple weekend activities. I want to get passed this Mental ideology that at my age, (19/20ish) that university is really the last stop for good friends. Also that its a job which is now your friendship circle (If you didnt go down a uni path).

In conclusion, i would like opinions on how you have or would change these areas of life. I strive like many other people to be more than what i am, but it's challenging. Anything worth doing isn't easy, but it's nice to have a helping hand where needed.

Car Insurance Cost in NYC?

I have a question regarding car insurance. I'm 29 years old. I've been in 3 car accidents but was not at fault for any of them (2 of the times my car was sitting still! lol) and I've never gotten a ticket for any of those accidents. I used to have insurance through State Farm, full coverage for a 2004 Jeep Liberty that cost 50-60 a month in upstate NY. While driving to NYC one winter I got a speeding ticket, my first ticket ever! I was going I think 82(?) in a 65. This was just before I moved to NYC, and because I got the ticket in a podunk little county I was driving through I had no idea what the name was, the ticket flew out my door and I lost it. I figured they would mail me something else to tell me the payment was late but I never received anything else about it. Well I found out later it was because I moved, even though I moved about 2 months after the fact they wait quite a while to send another notice, and I never received it. Thus, my license was suspended but I never knew. I never got caught driving without it either. So I moved here in 2007 with my Jeep which I was very behind payments for, and then it got towed away for alternate side parking BS. I could have borrowed the money back then to pay to get it out but I let it go. Alright so long story short, I don't have the truck, it was auctioned. I'll be done paying for it through a collection agency settlement offer this May. If I had kept the truck, I would be paying 200+ more a month than I pay now, and I wouldn't have been done paying it til August 2011. Plus I would have had to pay to catch it up the 3 months I was behind, plus pay my boyfriends brother back who was willing to lend me the money to get it out of the car jail (lol) I had the suspension lifted last July so I could rent a car, again no issues. So I'm thinking of buying a 2,000 car (cash! I learned my lesson) in June when I'm done paying for the truck and I want to get no fault insurance. I know it will be a lot more here then what I used to pay, and in addition I now have a suspension that wasn't there before. Hi, I am interested in people's views of the following: A friends daughter is 17 and last Friday passed her driving test to much family celebration. She went out driving to see her friends, grandparents, and to get some experience. Don’t follow the leader: Avoid these 5 common e-commerce SEO mistakes

We often look to industry leaders for inspiration, but columnist Brian Weiss notes that big e-commerce players are often making critical SEO mistakes that should not be emulated.

Competitive research is an important part of any SEO program — after all, it’s a zero-sum game that we’re playing. However, there is often a tendency for companies to become fixated on what dominant competitors in the marketplace are doing. The assumption is that because they’re getting the most SEO traffic, they must be doing things right.

In many industries, it is true that the high SEO traffic sites really are doing an exceptional job. But in the world of e-commerce, this is often not the case. Many of the highest traffic e-commerce sites are doing things that are objectively bad for SEO. It turns out that a strong backlink profile and other prominent brand signals can make up for an awful lot of mistakes.

Getting things right for enterprise e-commerce SEO can be really challenging. You often have to merge very different sources of product data into a single system and make everything work. There are more pages than you could ever curate manually. And in most cases, SEO is not the largest driver of traffic and may have to take a back seat to other priorities. It’s tough.

Eventually, people are going to figure out how to address the issues that make e-commerce SEO so cumbersome and hard to scale. Sites that apply these new techniques will gain an advantage, and then everyone will race to copy them and this article will be outdated. I believe that point is still some years away.

Until then, there are opportunities to gain an SEO advantage over most of the major e-commerce players by simply avoiding their most common mistakes.

1. Faceted navigation disasters

When faceted navigation isn’t controlled, you can often end up with more category URLs, by orders of magnitude, than total products on the site. Clearly, something is wrong with that picture.

On the other end of the spectrum, you have companies that are so scared of creating too many pages that they noindex their entire faceted navigation or canonical everything to the root page. Doing this can prevent indexation of potentially valuable pages (usually ones with two or one attributes selected) and it still may not fix the crawl problems that their navigation poses.

There is a middle path, and few try to walk it. While fixing your filtered navigation is an entire topic of its own, a good starting point is to consider using dynamic AJAX sorting for thin attributes, so users can refine the product set without changing the URL.

2. Slow site speed

There is plenty of readily available data about the impact of site speed on conversion and bounce rates. A couple of seconds can make an enormous difference in user engagement. So why do retailers seem to be competing to load the most external scripts? The retail market is underinvested in speed and overinvested in lag-inducing features that often have marginal benefits and may even serve to overwhelm the user.

My experience is that the SEO benefits of page speed are not yet as substantial as the conversion optimization impact. With all the information Google is sharing about the user benefits of fast, streamlined sites, it’s only a matter of time until speed becomes a more prominent ranking factor. However, when UX impact is also taken into account, there’s no reason to wait.

3. Reliance on XML sitemaps for indexation

If there is one simple piece of SEO wisdom that every enterprise manager should remember, it’s that each page needs to have a crawl path to have a chance to rank for competitive queries. There are many unique and exciting ways (from the perspective of someone who is paid to fix websites) that sites are able to orphan a large percentage of their product or other important pages from their browsable architecture.

Possibilities include broken pagination, creating nearly infinite URL spaces, and any form of link generation logic that doesn’t systematically ensure that every product has a crawl path.

If you’re unsure about whether you have an adequate crawl path, crawl your site and see if all your important pages are showing up. If you are not able to do a complete crawl of your site, that means either that you have too many pages or you need a better crawler. If you have a very large site, you likely need help with both. And if you’re spending lots of time looking at the sitemaps dashboard in Google Search Console, wondering why your pages aren’t being indexed, it’s most likely because they don’t have a good crawl path.

4. Using tags completely wrong

Many e-commerce sites have conflicting tagging signals on their category pages and tagging structures that are suboptimal. I have seen at least two Fortune 500 owned e-commerce sites that were making all the pages on their site canonical to the home page, which is equivalent to telling Google that none of the other pages on the site have anything else to offer. I have seen more sites than I can count on one hand do their pagination tagging incorrectly, which is surprising, because it’s a plainly spelled-out specification.

I suspect that Google’s assumed omniscience sometimes hinders the careful adoption of standards. People think they can get it close enough and Google will figure it out. Sometimes they do. Sometimes they don’t. And sometimes, even if Google can figure out all your mistakes, it’s still a loss — especially if they are having to crawl extra pages to do so.

5. Ugly URLs

Here’s a thought experiment. Let’s set SEO aside for a moment and look at two different URLs that we might see in a SERP:

Site 1: www.madfancylad.com/c/armani-fedoras

Site 2: www.bromendous.com/search?product%20line=fedora&brand=Armani&REFID=23ghaWHY23093482

Which site seems more likely to make things easy for their shoppers, and which site seems more likely to make things easy for themselves? What kind of conscious and unconscious assumptions might a shopper make about each?

My experience is that short, clear and concise URLs tend to rank well and get more traffic than long, parameter-laden addresses. There are some correlational studies that support this observation. I don’t consider any of them definitive — but I know what I would choose to do for my site.

Twitter Card Errors and How to Fix Them

Yesterday we talked about how great Twitter Cards are for your brand and we even walked you through how to set them up for your site. You may notice, though, when you click on the View summary of some Tweets, that one or the other of the fields is a little off. You may also notice some sites (yours, maybe?) where some of the tweets show the card and some do not. Or, maybe you didnt get that far because youre still trying to validate your code and get approved, but you get a server error or timeout error?

Let me say right here I dont have all the answers! My own cards are still a little glitchy. However, I do have some suggestions and will be watching the forums for more solutions. Also, the potential benefits outweigh the annoyances!

Twitter cards for everyone is new, so there are bound to be some hiccups. Ill share my issues and any solutions I have found. Twitter Card Issue:  Validator gives a Server error please try again message.

It is unclear whether this is an issue on Twitters end or on the subject website. However, we tried multiple URLs and found we got intermittent success for each. The intermittent nature of the issue leads me to believe it is on Twitters end.  Solution: keep trying.

Twitter Card Issue: Validator gives a Timeout message

If your website takes longer than three seconds to load, you will get a timeout error and cards will not work for your site. Solution: clean up your site, delete any plugins you dont need, see about faster hosting. Also, one user reports that using CloudFlare for your site causes a timeout issue with cards.

Twitter Card Issue: Cards appear on some tweets, not on others

Instead of the View Summary link, you might see Expand. Solution: try sharing the same URL a couple of times (not in rapid-fire succession) to see if it might be a timeout issue on that particular page. If that page NEVER shows a card, that may be your issue. Solution: try shrinking the image file size on that pages images. Also, check the length of the pages description. It must be under 200 characters.

Twitter Card Issue: Ive been approved, but I dont see any cards

They should have started appearing immediately. Solution: First make sure your site hasnt slowed since you were approved (must load in 3 seconds) and that your page descriptions or the description you entered into the meta code isnt over 200 characters. Submit a request on the Twitter discussion forum.

Twitter Card Issue: Some of the fields have incorrect information

This is something we have noticed. Sometimes everything looks OK. Sometimes, the description is just a bunch of code. Since we are using a plugin that automatically inserts the meta tags, this cant be an issue with us entering the information incorrectly.

Frustratingly, I can look at the Tweet one moment, and it looks fine and then go back a few moments later and it has changed the description to __reach_config = { pid:. Solution: If the problem is NOT intermittent and you fill out the meta tags manually, double-check your work. Otherwise, submit a request on the Twitter discussion forum. If I resolve my issue I will share the solution here.
