What books are your MC's and their LI's currently reading? What music are they currently listening to?

Trystan is a fan of the Aubrey–Maturin series, so he's deep into All Hands On Deck: A Modern-Day High Seas Adventure to the Far Side of the World by Will Sofrin.

Emma is absorbed by Letters from an Actor by William Redfield. She loves learning about the behind-the-scenes of famous productions, and she adores epistolary books.

As for music, Trystan continues to favor classical, whereas Emma is going through a Hozier phase.

Nora's not reading anything new (but she is ofc getting tickets to watch Monkey Man) . As for songs, she's probably got her car radio on something. Same with Trystan; he's got whatever music app on his phone playing some 2010s classics and is probably reading classics or Drakovian poetry. That is if they're in that reading mood.

Rowan's either vicariously cramming for her SATs or college exams (haven't figured out the timeline yet) with lofi beats screaming into her ears. Stevie's got a repeat of Rammstein or some heavy metal band on loop, while studying or reading old, pirated DC comics. It's an average Monday evening for them all.

I'm curious about Aubrey, Cian, Elam and Gabriel... 8

Aubrey (FA): It depends on the individual. They can easily fall into conversation with some and then there are others they would definitely rather avoid and struggle to get along with. Particularly they struggle with those people that think rather highly of themselves or think they are better than others. They make mixed impressions but in the end they often make a good to neutral impression.

Cian (VoS): Yes, he can get along with just about anyone and do so very easily. His charm goes along way in helping him with this. They pretty much always make a good impression.

Elam (TCH): They strive to get along with everyone but often they have little choices in how others get along with them and it is often others that make the relationship strained despite how hard Elam may try and make it work. Given the world they live in, they often make a very bad impression on most unless others are willing to let go of their prejudices.

Gabriel (CoP): They do not get along with many people at all and it takes a helluva lot of effort to get them to even attempt at getting them to even consider getting to know someone beyond a first meeting. They have few they are close to but are fiercely loyal to anyone they decide to open up to. Because they close themselves off and are brisk and prickly they often make a very bad first impression on others.

Welcome to the Jungle | Choices MC Colony | Episode #3

We are starting strong once again: Anitha and Rin got a case of the plague, Evie got malaria, and hot damn do we need an actual doctor out here! (Hello, foreshadowing 👀)

In good news, however, the panther problem is no more! (For now)

The MCs have been settled at Cedar Station for a couple of seasons now: purpose-specific rooms are being built; crappy barracks are being upgraded to little, individual houses, and we are getting more artsy with our crafting!

Luca *gasping softly*: cauliflowers, of course! Omg I'm a genius.

Anitha has taken non-cauliflower approaches to boosting settlement morale! Namely;

planting yellow, sunshiney flowers outside the rec room

singing songs to capybaras in the hopes they will come live with us (which... worked?! Go Anitha!! 💛)

Our MCs have collectively decided capybaras are the perfect symbol of hard work, perseverance, and being extremely friend-shaped, so they are now our ✨ venerated animal ✨ (Sprites now get a mood boost when they spend time near a capybara lol)

!!A wild Oliver appears!!

Good news: We have found a doctor! Bad news: Said doctor has been wandering alone in the jungle for weeks on end and is clearly Going Through Some Stuff

Dorian tried to calm Oliver down and talk him through The Horrors TM (and just managed to make things worse 😆)

Having a real doctor in the group means we can safely go on caravan journeys! Today, half of the MCs split off to:

Attend peace talks with a hostile faction

Fulfill a trade agreement with a nearby settlement

Loot an ancient ruin to get Dorian a cool new sword

Get... uh, wait- get mugged by a random imp raider who wanted to steal Oliver's extremely cool t-shirt?

um. Dorian's new sword got a test run and Oliver kept his shirt.

We did unfortunately run out of food on the way home, though, so our MCs have arrived back hungry, tired, and desperately in need of something fun to do.

Things were tense, folks. Rin might have snapped at Evie a little bit 😬

aaahhhh the blorbos are brawling aaahhh this is our first social fight

Things calmed down pretty quick when Evie went for the suckerpunch and cracked Rin's jaw. Rin got lots of quick jabs in too, so Evie has a ton of bruises to her torso, but I think since Evie went beast mode on this one, she wins 😆

Fortunately, Oliver knows just how to help 💗

We are all friends again in time for the Skylantern Festival though!! Awww look at them go 🌈✨ (Marianna is helping Evie with hers, that's so sweet 🥺)

Anitha: we require more morale Anitha: *brainstorming so hard* Anitha: I've got it. TWO Capybaras!!!

So, on top of our OG Labrador, Ricky, we now have Sunny and Sugar-Plum, our resident Guinea Bigs. We have also recently acquired an (actual) guinea pig and a cat!

I'm letting the smaller pets pick their owners on a "first nuzzled, first served" basis, so congrats to Evie and Oliver, who now have their very own pets!

(If it makes a difference, the guinea pig is male, the cat is female, both are 3 years old)

Raids are getting tougher! This one was weird, because some visiting traders rushed to our defense with... with their pet bull? Guys, we have it. Its... its fine, you don't need to-- okay, sure. Fine. Send in the bull. Also misfire your bow and arrow and shoot Dorian in the leg, that's great too.

It was a tough scrape, this one! A bunch of tough adventurers, pushed to their limits, trying to survive in this harsh, unforgiving jungle, came to steal our supplies. A few of their people died, some of ours were injured, and we hauled the enemy survivors inside to tend to their injuries (because what is the jungle without a little humanity, right?)

In what is perhaps the most metal move I have ever seen, here is Oliver talking Marianna through what to do when someone* has been stabbed in the kidney and is bleeding out

*"someone" in this instance is Oliver 🤘

OH MY GOD I JUST NOTICED MARIANNA USED THE REALLY GOOD MEDICINE I WAS SAVING THAT klsjgksfjglkdf dammit 😂 thats fine, I'd rather Oliver be okay, but omg that stuff is expensive and I only had 1 ahh 😭😭😭

Curiously... the enemy adventurers are rather taken by our empathy. These are good people, they say. This is a small settlement, but it looks homely. These people are tough, but fair. Hmmm...

"Do you really think we can trust them? We attacked their home." "We didn't have a choice! But these people seem... honest? They could have left us to die, but they didn't. Maybe... this could be a home for us, too." "Daenarya, that's madness. You can't just try to steal from someone, only to turn around and ask if you can join them!" "...Its worth a shot, right?"

The Reign of a Short King

[Mal Volari x Daenarya Masterlist] [Mal’s Orphanage]

Pairings: Mal Volari x Daenarya (F!OC) ; Tyril Starfury x Maiele* (*Maiele belongs to @lilyoffandoms) Book: Blades of Light and Shadow Word Count: ~750 Rating: Teen (just to be safe)

Synopsis: Mal is very insistent that a half inch makes all the difference.

A/N: This silly drabble was inspired by a comment by @dr-colossal-pita about Mal using his hair to increase his height, and my wanting to reconcile Mal being short even though in book 1 he is mentioned as "tall". Also, I know realistically they wouldn't use the US measuring system but this story works better when using 1/2 inches.

Mal and Daenarya stood near the garden wall in their backyard, a heated argument unfolding.

"You know, I'm 5 foot 8 and a half inches," Mal insisted, peering down at her. 

Mischief danced in her eyes as she chuckled, shaking her head. "You're dreaming, Mr. Magnificent. You're only feeling tall next to me,” Daenarya teased, nudging him gently.

"By the gods, I swear I am 5 foot 8 and a half!" Mal stood a little straighter to emphasize his point.

Her head tilted to the side in amusement, brushing back his beautiful mane. "I'll humor you, but just so you know, your hair doesn't count if that's where you're getting that extra half." 

Mal took a step back, feigning indignation. His fingers raked through his hair as he brushed his hair back methodically. "I would never count my hair." He shook his head, offended she'd even say such a thing. "I am 5 foot 8 and a half inches!"

"Okay," she nodded in agreement, her smile spreading across her face. She pressed a kiss on her cheek. "If you say so."

Mal puffed his chest and held his head as high as possible "I'm glad you've come to see my side of things." He offered his arm to her.

"If you say so," she repeated, accepting his gesture as they headed back to where their friends were gathered. 

"And if we were counting my hair, then, I'd be at least 5 foot 9 inches", maybe 5 foot 9 and a half!" He boasted proudly.

Daenarya chuckled, "Here we go again."

"Here we go again?" Maiele moved to join them. "What trouble are you two starting now?" 

"Did you know that Mal is 5 foot 8 and a half inches, but if you count his hair, he might even be 5 foot 9 and a half!" Sarcasm dripped in every word. 

"Huh," Maiele pondered thoughtfully, casually resting his arm on Mal's head. Despite Mal's attempts to squirm away, the elf’s tall and strong stature held him there. After another moment of consideration, a smirk spread on his lips. "You wish!"

A rumble of laughter rose in his throat as his hands tousled Mal's hair, messing up his perfect coiffure. With a playful wink to Daenarya, Maiele sauntered off back to Tyril, whose lip curled up ever so slightly despite his efforts to hide his amusement at Mal's despair. 

Flustered, Mal sputtered something in response, but his words were lost as Daenarya gently touched his face and gave him a light kiss.

"You're still my short king," she whispered. Her thumb caressed over his jaw, the coarse hair of his beard tickling her. 

Mal couldn't help but relax and smile at her touch. "You know, initially, you thought I was tall."

Daenarya couldn't help but remember that night so long ago. "What can I say? It was dark, and I had a few drinks before this handsome rogue barreled into me—"

"I barreled into you?" He interrupted.

"That's how I remember it," she continued, batting her eyelashes. "There I was minding my own business, when you, this smug adventure. bumped into me, this innocent country girl."

A smirk pulled on his lips, his brow arching. "You're many things, Kit, but innocent isn't one of them!" He shook his head in amusement. "How does that change my height?"

"As I was trying to explain," she smirked. She held her hand in front of her as if drawing his attention to an imaginary scene unfolding. "This beautiful adventurer with great hair bumps into me. It's a dark street; I was a little tipsy—"

"You're a little tipsy now? I thought you were innocent?" He chuckled in amusement, enjoying her embellished tale. "Besides, I've seen you drink; you weren't even a little tipsy."

Her face flushed. "Ugh, fine! I may or may not have been a little distracted by your chest hair... I mean who wears a V-neck while adventuring? Besides, you've seen what I had to work with in Riverbend. You were a welcomed step up. I was clearly preoccupied with other thoughts."

"And you want me to believe you were the innocent one?" His brow arched. "And, I repeat, how does that change my height?"

"Well, your head was up from there, so— tall...er?" Her smile widened, knowing her thoughts went far beyond his alluring chest. "Let's agree to agree. You agree that I was innocent the night we met, and I'll agree that you're 5 foot 8 inches...and a half!"

"I think I can support that agreement." He drew her into his arms, enveloping her completely. "Shall we seal it with a kiss?"

"Mmhmm," she hummed, "now you're talking." 

Mal closed the gap, guiding her into a deepening kiss. 

Daenarya smiled into his embrace, her fingers crossed behind his back. This certainly wouldn't be the last time she teased him about that half-inch.

A/N#2: Originally, I had Mal at 5'10" but somehow I kept lowering it and now we're at 5'8". I mean if Ironman can be 5'8", my short king can to!

You didn't clarify the character so I'm going to go with Emma and Raine :)

Did your oc have a lot of friends at school?

Emma never had a ton of friends, but she did have a few good ones. After her father's death, however, she retreated into herself and her old friends eventually gave up trying to reach her. She had people she was friendly with in high school, but she didn't really make friends again until halfway through college. Even then, they were casual friends, and there are only two people she's stayed in touch with.

Raine didn't go to school in the traditional way, but if that girl's awake and out in the world, she's making friends. They may not all be deep friendships, but she genuinely likes and is interested in people, so people usually like her in return. She's also the kind of person who, if she sees someone looking sad, she'll plaster herself to them and either listen (if they want to talk) or tell terrible knock-knock jokes (if they don't) until they crack a smile.

Honestly I don't have the faintest idea, because Ethan suits him pretty well, but if I were to pick *one* name for him that I'd think would complement his facial expressions and such, I'd think something modern-sounding with a hint of contemporary.

Something like.. Ian, maybe? Or Frank? Ethan definitely has a bit of Ian in him.

I'm horrible with names, to be honest! All my MCs received placeholder names and I'm not "frankly" (ha) good at that.

ik i am almost late, i have been busy asdfghjk, but anyway here is my week three appreciation for the writers appreciation month !!

i just wanted to give some love to some of my fellow queer writers in the fandom!! seeing queer people in a place that is so overwhelmingly straight means so much to me. to see queer people creating for queer characters despite the small-scale or even outright hate is so uplifting and encouraging, especially as someone who doesnt get to see it often in the real spaces im in. to have the support im given from yall means more to me than i can say or show, and even though the fandom has so many issues and divides and conflicts and just outright bullshit, there are still people here to create and have fun and support one another, especially in a group that is often pushed to the side in favor of another straight tropey romance when it comes to real-world fiction and media. the touch queer people bring to any character, pairing, etc is invaluable when its compared w the typical straight cis plots pb puts out as source material, and i just wanna thank yall for bringing it to such a small space and in turn adding so much more depth to what we were given to work w
