Hello Mr. Waistcoat! I was wondering if you had any tips on how to make writing more enjoyable? I’m dyslexic, so I struggle to get my thoughts out onto paper, which makes writing extremely challenging and unenjoyable and often leaves my writing not flowing smoothly and scattered. If this weren’t the case, I probably would write a lot more (and not procrastinate essays as much). How do you go about getting your thoughts on paper? Do you have a specific strategy for remembering what you were going to write or for making ideas flow better?
I'm sorry, but I have no tips for this. The process of writing things down is boring and bad to me, but I'm good at it and I hate it significantly less than every other job I've ever had, so I just do it. You don't have to enjoy it if you want to be a writer - you just have to do it.

Books I Loved In 2025: Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis
"Can’t please anyone. Will never prove to anyone you not evil. They never forget. Maybe you not deserve them to forgive. Still want to do evil tomorrow? Just because they expect? Even if don’t want to do evil? They choose, not you?"

i came for the old kingdom posting, tis true, but i will most certainly stay for the "why are period dramas so laughably inaccurate".. like man im no expert but they dont even know about the distinction between day- and evening-wear. put those collarbones AWAY it is NOT the time !!
Fichus are SO unattractive. No one could possibly appreciate a transparent scarf that ostensibly covers the bust as a sop to modesty but still makes it clear that there are heaving, upthrust boobs right there. It’s not like lingerie empires are built on this concept.

The Dark Reality of Moklans – A Disturbing Parallel
There’s something eerily unsettling about the Moklans—not just because of their single-gender society, but because of the implications behind how they got there.
When you look closely, the Moklans share striking similarities with the People of Lot (from the Quran/Bible)—a society so consumed by their ideology that they rejected natural order and faced divine retribution. But what if, instead of being destroyed, they won? What if they enforced their ideology through authoritarian law and technological alteration until their vision became the only reality?
Think about it:
- The Moklans didn’t start as a single-gender species. (Because, they have natural female births)
- What if they used technology to "correct" females into males, rewrote history, and made male pregnancy possible—effectively erasing women from existence?
- Their society isn’t "Conservative"—it’s Authoritarian, enforcing a New Order by force.
This isn’t just sci-fi worldbuilding—it’s a dark reflection of real-world historical atrocities:
- Pre-Islamic female infanticide (burying baby girls alive out of preference for sons).
- Ancient (and modern) gender oppression, where one sex is systematically erased or subjugated.
Seth MacFarlane didn’t just create a fictional alien race—he crafted a "what if?" scenario: What if the People of Lot succeeded? What if they used technology to fully realize their ideology?
The Moklans aren’t just aliens—they’re a warning.
Thoughts? Am I overanalyzing, or is this an intentional parallel?

Books I recently checked out of the library
The Full Moon Coffee Shop by Mai Mochizuki- I honestly forget how I came to find this book. It sounds relaxing to read. And the fact that there are talking cats in it makes it much more imperative that I read it. It will probably remind me of the other translated books that I have read.
Noor by Nnedi Okorafor- I have read more than one book by this author now and I keep coming back because she has cool ideas for books. This book just sounds fun and interesting to read.
When Among Crows by Veronica Roth- I have read other books by Veronica Roth mainly the divergent trilogy and so it's interesting to see how YA authors write books more intended for adults.
Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis- I have never read this author before. Goodreads has recommended me this book several times and I am now just getting to it. This books sounds right up my alley and I'm excited to read it.
The Sol Majestic by Ferrett Steinmetz- Never read this author before either. The first three books on this list are relatively short so I had to get a fifth book because of that. It sounds like this book will be a love letter to cooking and food as well. Pretty sure this book came to my attention because of Intersteller Megachef. The plot is different but the love for food is the same I'm pretty sure.
Money saved: $104.97
