Tumblr media
I haven’t seen anybody talking about this, but apparently there was an initial draft of the Golden Armory of Cornelius Coot, the scene between Webby and Della had a very different theme and message.
Webby tells Della, like we see, that she made it farther than she did at her age, and Della reveals that she did in fact make it to the armory, thought it was dumb, and ripped out the pages. It later goes on to be a conversation about how Webby has put them in competition, and they have a talk about what it’s like to be girls in a world of male adventurers. No matter how much they love the guys, they’re surrounded by men and boys, and it sounded like they actually sat down and acknowledged that.
That conversation is revolutionary in action-adventure media, especially something for kids! The whole genre is completely built on Men Who Are Daring And The One Woman Who’s Hot. I can’t think of one single time I’ve seen that acknowledgement in ANY media, and I can’t even imagine how much that conversation would have affected me as a kid, especially growing up as a Feral Outdoors Scraped Hands And Knees Girl Who Fought Monsters With Sticks™️.
They said they had a memo posted in the DT offices about “The Girl Problem With Ducktales,” talking about how important it was to bring femmes to the forefront, but at the end of the day, the message of that cut scene is galaxies more important to girls than how many times Webby uses her grappling hook. In fairness, they said they had a LOT of trouble overhauling that scene because it was important to them, but it didn’t work with the rest of the episode, and at the end of the day they had to sacrifice an incredible scene for a stronger overall episode.
That moment in and of itself deserved to be an entire episode. Having femmes blend effortlessly into an adventuring world is incredibly important, especially teaching young femmes that they can go out and have those astounding lives, but also, it is different for us, even if kids don’t understand why. It’s just how the world is built, and that’s horrifying and beyond messed up, and I have no idea how that scene would have gone, but how incredible would it be to see Thee Adventuring Girls say “Hey, we did it anyway.”
I love the thesis that Della and Webby and even Bentina are able to move freely through the world the exact same way as the others, but having two girls raised in the same situation look at each other and see in the other the only person they know with the same experience? I’m not saying they should put systemic gender discrimination into a kids show, but if gender conversations were on the table at one point, it deserved to be a whole episode.
Anyway, that’s a lot of words, but out of the entire extended art book, this stuck out miles beyond anything else they said.

I really really like your writing and style of narrative (I am still reading your detective Mickey one, I am interested!), I have always wanted to write my stories and OC stuff like that , but it never turns out good.
Anyway, my question is if you any inspirations or reference when it comes to writing, and if so, what are them?
Thank you so much!!! 💕💕💕
It warms my heart so much to see so many people like my story and get invested. I always wanted to get into fanfic writing, but could never imagine seeing so many positive reactions. I worked really hard and I can't wait to share more of what I have planned for this series.
As for your question, it is a simple question, but I actually have a complicated answer lol. Because even though I am writing fanfiction, I feel like a lot of my inspiration comes from things outside of just writing such as tv shows, games, comics, movies, etc. There are so many stories that had such an impact on me like Undertale, Deltarune, Mob Psycho 100, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Gravity Falls, Pokémon Black/White, Steven Universe, Gurren Lagann, Kung Fu Panda, Bojack Horseman, The Great Mouse Detective, Beauty and the Beast (Tbh Disney movies in general), and so much more. I've always wanted to write something just as emotionally impactful and compelling as they were to me. I feel like I daydream of cool moments as well as fun story ideas but never really put them on paper. But one day, while hyper-fixated on Mickey Mouse, I couldn't take only thinking anymore and I decided to just start writing them down and that is how I got my start.
What has also helped is following other creators that have been making their own wonderful stories also based on characters in the whole "Mickey and Friends"-verse. I've been following "Everything is Blue", an incredible story that tackles the relationships that Bud Flud had before he became the Liquidator by @trishabeakens . I also love the amazing duckverse comics by @modmad that do such a brilliant job giving Magica De Spell and Gladstone Gander so much depth with beautiful illustrations. Also, my friend @skullsemi makes many terrific comics about her "The Backup Detectives" AU that explores Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Oswald, Clarabelle, and everyone in such a fun role, and even other people started to add their own take to their AU. That isn't even everyone. Just seeing so many people share their own fantastic work and take on these characters or any other characters are really big inspiration when it comes to getting the push to make my own stuff.
However, I can't talk about inspiration and references and not bring up all of the "Mickey and Friends" media that is the root of my story. The animated shorts, "The Three Musketeers", "The Three Caballeros", "The Goofy Movie", Ducktales 2017, "The Prince and the Pauper", "The Christmas Carol", the comics (Gottfredson, Barks, Rosa, Nucci, Topolino, etc.), Darkwing Duck, and just so much more have all been key references when writing my fanfiction series. Some of the inspiration is obvious such as "Mickey Mouse Outwits the Phantom Blot" for the Pilot. But it is more than that. It is also the feel that all of these stories give. What I like about all of these stories is how well they can balance a fun cartoony comedic vibe, but also have strong emotional moments. In "The Goofy Movie" you can have a musical number where people dance on cars in the same movie where two adults have a serious conversation about trust and the best way to parent a child. That is what I am trying to catch in my story. And now that I think about it a lot of the previous stuff I mentioned in the paragraph above also have a pretty similar balance. I think there is something about being able to be goofy but also sincere that speaks to me. The idea of exploring the tough parts of life, but still holding onto hope and having fun along the way. It is genuine. I want to be genuine.
I know you mentioned earlier about how you don't think you're writing is good. I haven't seen it (mostly because I don't know who you are lol), but I think you are being a bit hard on yourself. The fact that you are writing is better than doing nothing and I would say just write what you want to. Write what you enjoy and find fun. Write what gets you to actually write. Because if I could be honest, I am really writing mostly for me. This is something I've been wanting to do forever and I am having so much fun.

Armorer x Bo-Katan incorrect quotes cause it's fun
Enjoy the chaos and Din and others getting caught in the middle of it!
Armorer: What is the one thing I told you not to do? Bo-Katan: Burn the planer down. Armorer: And what did you do? Bo-Katan: I made dinner. Armorer: Bo-Katan: Armorer: Bo-Katan: And burnt the planet down.
...
Bo-Katan: Hold on, I can explain! Armorer: Really? Can you now? Bo-Katan: I can if you give me a minute to think of a convincing lie.
...
Armorer, answering the phone: Hello? Bo-Katan: It’s Bo-Katan. Armorer: What did they do this time? Bo-Katan: No, it’s me, Bo-Katan. It’s actually me. Armorer: What did you do this time?
...
Armorer: Ugh, there’s always that weak bitch in the group who isn’t down with following the way. Armorer: glares at Bo-Katan Bo-Katan: Well, sorry!
...
Armorer: If you lose, you’re out of the tribe. Bo-Katan: I was in the tribe?
...
Armorer: sees someone doing something stupid Armorer: What an idiot. Armorer: realizes it's Bo-Katan Armorer: Wait, that's MY idiot!
...
Bo-Katan: State your name, rank, and intention. Armorer: Armorer, Armorer, fun.
...
Armorer: Don’t worry, I have a permit. Bo-Katan: …This just says “I can do what I want”.
...
Bo-Katan: Good morning. As you begin your day, remember that violence is always an option and often the answer. Armorer: Bo-Katan: Armorer: …Please, go back to bed.
...
Armorer: How the hell are you still alive? Bo-Katan: Honestly, I’m just as confused as you are.
...
Bo-Katan: When I was young, I left a trail of broken hearts like a rockstar. I'm not proud of it. Armorer: You're kind of proud of it. You work it into a lot of conversations.
...
Armorer: How’s practice going? Bo-Katan: Terrible. I want to stab everybody there. Armorer: Okay, just don’t get any blood on your clothes. Bo-Katan: …you shouldn’t be condoning this. Armorer: Don’t tell me how to live my life.
...
Armorer to Din: I can't imagine what Bo-Katan is planning. But I can tell you two things. We won't like it and it won't be by the Way.
...
Armorer: Ah ready for another fantastic day of being better than Bo-Katan.
...
Bo-Katan: Are you ever going to listen to me? Armorer: Yes. Absolutely. Bo-Katan: When? Armorer: When you're right.
...
Armorer: Let’s write Bo-Katan a friendly note, shall we? Dear… Incompetent… Dumbass…
...
Din: I just found out from Paz today that when Bo-Katan died and the service did the 21-gun salute at their funeral, Armorer said, “They should aim at the coffin to be sure.”
...
Din: I told Paz to grab snacks for everyone. Bo-Katan, looking through the options: Why did you grab fruit snacks? Are you five? Who even likes Fruit Snacks? Din, Paz, and Armorer raise their hands
...
Bo-Katan: Everyone synchronise your watches. Paz: I don't know how to do that. Armorer: I don't wear a watch. Din: Time is a construct.
...
Din: What do you want then? Paz: Er… something work related. Din: What department is this? Paz: Sorry? Din: Well, if it’s work related you’d obviously know what department this is. What department is this? Paz: looks at Armorer and Bo-Katan Some sort of homosexual department?
...
Din: I’m so happy two of my favorite people are getting along now. Paz: Uh, Armorer and Bo-Katan are not getting along. Din: They’re not trying to kill each other. Paz: You may have a point.
...
That's it. Funny thing tho I started watching DuckTales 2017, and realised a lot of the quoets from the generator I use are from that, I just think it's pretty funny.

Fuck it. Ducktales 2017 au.
Donald Duck is a selkie. One of Scrooge's ancestors was a selkie and the gene has just been recessive for centuries until Donald's bad luck struck and it just so happened to wake up in him. No one knew growing up except his parents and they took his coat away when he was like five or six because they were scared of losing him to the ocean. That's the reason his voice sounds the way it does.
They never told anyone, including Donald. I imagine that after they died and the twins moved in with Scrooge that it just got shoved in a box and stashed somewhere in the attic or something. Point is, no one knows that Donald is a selkie. All they know is that he's a bit of a weird kid who just so happens to stare at the ocean just a little too intently when he sees it (Scrooge just thinks its wanderlust, Della just thinks he's a weirdo).
It surprisingly wasn't that bad in the navy. It was almost like the closer he got to the water the more at home he felt which is why he got a houseboat to raise the boys on.
Anyways, life goes on pretty normally (and I'm gonna place this in like about halfway through season three) until on one adventure that Donald happened to come on, they encounter a whole group of selkies. Nothing bad happens, but they all kinda keep giving each other looks and staring really pointedly at Donald which he thinks is weird but might just be because of his voice.
He also notices that he feels this ache in his chest when he gets too close to them, like the ache he gets when he looks out at the ocean. Eventually a conversation gets started between him and the group and the selkies are dropping all these hints about being one of them that are just fucking jumping over Donald's head until one of them gets tired and just straight up asks him if he ever aches for the ocean.
He's a little caught off guard at first but begins to open up about how sometimes he feels like the waves are trying to pull him closer and about the ache he gets. At this point the selkies kind of raise their eyebrows at each other as they all collectively realize that this random ass dude with a whole family of non selkie ducks is one of them.
They then try to shift the topic over to his coat to try and find out how much the guy knows and if he's gonna be alright. So out comes the question, "Do you have a favorite coat?" Donald blinks in surprise. It was kind of a random question. He looked between the three people seated across from him and noticed not for the first time that they all had on beautiful white fur coats.
He was suddenly reminded of his childhood and absently started recounting his memory, "I remember having a coat when I was really little that I absolutely loved. It really was the best thing. It was so white it almost looked blue and it was the softest thing I've ever touched. And sometimes-" (here he leaned in like he was whispering a fatal secret) "when I would sit and wear it I could swear that I could hear the ocean waves crashing into shore,"
Well any doubt the selkies may have had before before was completely gone now. They start hatching a scheme to get him to stay with them (pure intentions, but poorly executed) and end up kind of kidnapping him. This leads to the McDuck and co going on an adventure to get him back where they possibly discover his true nature.
Maybe due to both being around others of his kind and the ocean in a sacred selkie place Donald starts to get ill without his coat so then everyone else is freaking out trying to find it.
Anywho, there's that I guess. Enjoy :)

DuckTales AU Idea: The Ducks (or Just Us Ducks)
Tumblr media
Scrooge is the one who took the Spear of Selene and got trapped on the moon, leaving Della and Donald on their own to raise the triplets on Donald’s houseboat and Bradford Buzzard in complete control of McDuck Enterprises. The family would still go on adventures but they’d mainly be confined in Duckburg
I’m not one who really seeks out or comes up with AU’s whenever I’m into anything. This one sorta came about on accident after coming up with various incorrect DuckTales quotes (all of which were originally from The Simpsons or Bob’s Burgers) with one of my beta readers and then thinking how fun it’d be if there was an AU where Donald and Della raised Huey, Dewey, and Louie on the houseboat by themselves and just went from there.
Scrooge taking the Spear of Selene would definitely have a big effect on Della, mixture of guilt and anger at herself. Donald of course would step in to help Della raise the boys and convince Della that maybe now the two better leave the adventuring life behind them so they could properly raise the boys. I imagine neither Donald nor Della would be interested in working at McDuck Enterprises and would just like to move on from what happened and just leave Duckburg on Donald’s boat.
I don’t really have a whole outline of this AU, just  some details and two story ideas in my head, one of which is somewhat similar to the first episode of DuckTales; the family is currently living in Duckburg, both Della and Donald are struggling to get and keep down jobs to support their boys. Somehow the triplets find out that they’re related to the infamous billionaire who attempted to explore space and was never heard from again
If Scrooge was the one who ended up going there still would be some bitter tension between him and Donald because of course there would be. So when the boys ask Donald about their uncle he’d most likely dance around the conversation and not admit that Scrooge was their uncle. Which is when they’d go to Della
Della would most likely tell Huey, Dewey, and Louie about The Spear of Selene incident (at least her side of the story). She would then tell the boys about all the adventures she and Donald would go on with their Uncle Scrooge and how much she misses those days
Don’t know what else might happen in that story, but to me it would end with Donald getting a job (most likely as a night security guard) at McDuck Enterprises. Like the first episode, he was originally going to apply for a job at Glomgold Industries but then decides not to after Della expresses her disgust with Donald applying for a job that was run by one Scrooge’s rivals.
Anyway, the second story idea I have would be about Della and the boys breaking into McDuck Enterprises while Donald is working
So with Bradford in control of McDuck Enterprises, I’d see him keeping the name the same cause of brand recognition and how Scrooge was always seen favorably in the public eye. The company itself would be more sterile and bureaucratic. Oh and FOWL would secretly be operating in the same building. Also I could see one of the first thing Bradford does when he takes control of McDuck Enterprises would be firing both Gyro and Quackfaster cause Bradford’s a jerk
The story would start off on the anniversary of the Spear of Selene incident where Bradford would make a statement on the news about how it wasn’t easy taking over for Scrooge but feels he’s done a good job of honoring his legacy with how he’s running the company. Only then to be interrupted by a disgruntled Gyro who angrily calls Bradford out on his BS
The Duck family would of course being watching that news story and after seeing Gyro is still in Duckburg, Della tells Donald that she’d like to see how their old friend is doing and introduce him to the boys. Donald would be fine with Della visiting him but he’d then ask her not to have the boys be with her when she does so because of how dangerous Gyro could be after all these years alone (and the possibility of an adventure happening).
So Della takes the boys to see Gyro where they learn he’s a rogue scientist who lives alone (with Lil Bulb of course) and is still inventing stuff despite no longer receiving funds from Scrooge. Now he gets the stuff he needs from a fellow freelancing rogue scientist who is none other than Gandra Dee
When reconnecting with Gyro, Della learns that the scientist misses Scrooge just as much as she does as well as some evidence that Bradford is much shiftier and more sinister than the Ducks originally thought: claiming that Scrooge’s last will and testament that Bradford shared with the public was fake and that the real one is hidden somewhere in Bradford’s office
Knowing Donald wouldn’t steal from his new boss, Della asks Gandra if she could break into McDuck Enterprises to get the will which Gandra says she could if they paid her, which of course is too much for the Ducks to afford and there’s no way Donald wouldn’t find out about it
Della then claims that she and her boys could just break into the building and do it herself since the mission is no different than the types of adventures she’d go on with her uncle. (I like to think this story takes place some time after the Duck boys had a few adventures of their own that they mainly told their mother about. Mostly Beagle Boy related)
Liking Della’s spunk, Gandra brings up the fact that she was actually planning on breaking into McDuck Enterprises that night for a client and offers to help the Ducks break in as long as they stay out of her way and give her ride to the building and back. Della of course accepts
I also like to imagine right around the time Donald gets a job at McDuck Enterprises, Fenton would as well. (And eventually he’d become a member of F.O.W.L but he’s still a good guy of course)
So that’s really all I got. Scrooge being in the one trapped on the moon would definitely change a lot of things. Heck, I don’t even know what I’d do with Beakley and Webby who wouldn’t have a safe haven since Scrooge wouldn’t be there. As for his mansion, I’m thinking maybe the Beagle Boys have taken over it, but nothing’s really set in stone
Anyway, I decided to post this rambling AU idea on here cause it’s been in my head for awhile now and I just wanted to share it cause I thought it was worth sharing. I currently have no plans to work on it cause I have a bunch of other WIPs I want to get done first. But hey, if this AU interests you and you have stories you want to write for it; go for it!

Last Crash of The Sunchaser and The Bit After: Thoughts I Guess
So uh... just watched Ducktales 2017 again for the first time in a while... got to the episode The Last Crash of The Sunchaser... watched the whole thing... the end credits should have conveyed the pit that I felt in my heart
Good Omens 2 did me VERY good when the gay angel and demon, but this is the raw emotional heartachin' damage of watching a traumatized man pushing the people he loves and cares about away.
It's somehow worse knowing the outcome of the episode because it recontextualizes literally the entire episode prior to the ending.
The whole "I have to save her" and various other things he's done and said up to that point... fuck... and it's all about keeping the kids safe, right? You know, making up for the kid he couldn't save, and who (to his knowledge) is dead.
The kids (saying what they did) were kinda right, only given the information they had. But they didn't know how hard he worked to save her. You know? Flashbacks. The many ships he built. Attempts at communication. Literally drilling holes in the money bin and investing heavily in saving her, and for what? For her to be gone? To admit that he can't keep her safe? What does that mean for anyone else?
Related note, apparently they did the whole frame by frame bc budget but it WORKS. It feels very much like fragmented memories and a very interesting mode of flashback. Couldn't have imagined it another way.
Back to the conversation:
I think that's when it just struck that same chord in him. David Tennant, that man is a great actor, gave us the emotionally jarring "I am." Which sorta pulled the nail on the coffin there. He's going through essentially a relapse of what happened when Della took the Spear. As much as he'd hate to admit it, he's better with family. Much happier too no doubt.
-
I've already watched the episodes after it some time ago, but I remember this:
It opens with Scrooge literally being a sad shell of himself. Alone, in his giant mansion, coping with everything, eating pizza but like no effort, and remembering the little things he used to do with the nephews (marbles iirc?), and others. Like I said, he's literally more happier with family than without.

Is there still a Ducktales fandom here? Most of the blogs I followed around the 2017 times have either changed subjects or gone quiet. Well, anyway, if anybody’s still here:
I started rewatching Ducktales 2017 over the holiday, with the intent of finally finishing the last few episodes! I’m in the middle of s2 and very excited. So I went through and started editing my playlist, which hasn’t really been updated since season 1. And I’m wondering if any other fans out there have any song ideas. I’d like to have a fairly equal amount of songs for each major character, and so far my favorites tend to be over represented.
Here’s what I have so far:
General amusement songs:
Ducktales theme song
Quack Quack Quack! Donald Duck
The Three Caballeros Song
Scrooge
The Saddest Story Ever Told by The Magnetic Fields
Hazy Shade of Winter by Gerard Way
Feel It Still by Portugal. The Man
Inside Out by Eve 6
We Are the Champions by Queen
Donald
Trouble Loves Me by Morrisey
The Worst Day Since Yesterday by Flogging Molly
Come With Me Now by Kongos
Battle Cry by Ludo
Return by OK Go (although it’s about Della, from his perspective)
Della
Song of the Sea by Cake Bake Betty
Got to Fly by Marian Call (the best Della song)
Rocket Ship by Kathy McCarty
Huey
The Trail We Blaze by Elton John
Overkill by Colin Hay (I kinda want to replace this one)
In Too Deep by Sum 41
Everything is Awesome by Tegan and Sara
Dewey
Ready for Anything by Skyway Flyer
A Little Less Conversation by Elvis Presley (the Megamind cover)
Ghost by Mystery Skulls
Louie
Plan B by Five Iron Frenzy
Heist by Ben Folds Five
Here It Goes Again by OK Go
Natural by Imagine Dragons
The Future by Mystery Skulls
Webby
Kids in the Dark by All Time Low
I’m Ready by Angela Michael
Try Everything by Shakira
Beakley
Have You Got It In You? by Imogen Heap
Launchpad
Crash Goes My World by Cadence Grace
Flying by Blue Rodeo
Mr Blue Sky by Electric Light Orchestra
All Star by Smash Mouth (the best Launchpad song)
Bud Like You by AJR
Holding Out For a Hero by Bonnie Tyler (favorite recent addition, it’s both perfect and hilarious)
Learn to Fly by Foo Fighters
Gyro
Build the Robots by Doctor Steel
Still Alive from Portal
Fenton (should note that his section is a bit of a mess and may include songs that don’t work very well because I was just tossing songs in there to see what would stick)
Rocket Man by Elton John (although it works better for Classic Fenton than 2017 Fenton)
A Better Son/Daughter by Rilo Kiley
Freaking Out by Mystery Skulls
The Safety Dance by Men Without Hats (haven’t tested it yet, but the idea amused me)
Hero by Chad Kroeger
Little Lion Man by Mumford and Sons
Mighty Little Man by Steve Burns
Consequences by Buffering the Vampire Slayer
We Are by Ana Johnson
Lena
Opheliac by Emilie Autumn
Glomgold
Opportunities by Pet Shop Boys
Reprehensible by They Might Be Giants
Mark Beaks
Whipped Cream by Ludo
Welcome to the Internet by Bo Burnham
Gladstone
Life Has Been Good To Me by Randy Newman
…and that’s it. As you can see, it does not feel like a complete playlist, covering neither every character nor any full arcs. …except maybe Launchpad who’s pretty well represented with some good and great songs for him. My sister has suggested I try Let the Games Begin and The Good Part by AJR, as well as You Won’t Make a Fool Out of Me by Flogging Molly for Donald, but I would like some songs I haven’t heard by different artists, if possible. Also, please note that I haven’t seen the last five or so episodes of the series yet; I have approximate knowledge of The One Thing, but otherwise am avoiding spoilers until I finish.
Any ideas?

Things My Sister Said Today
During a conversation about Undertale she tried to hum the opening to Metal Crusher, but instead went to the tune of “Freaks”
She’s been watching Rise, and Splinter had said “New York, what a town” like Donnie does and her first thought was “haha like father like son” and immediately regret it.
I got her into Ducktales as well and I told her how Lena is voiced by Kimiko Glen. Today she sends me a screenshot of Rider’s Lullaby (reprise) and says that she’s imagining Lena singing the song to Webby.

A-T-3 119 Oliver Sain - Nothing's Real in L.A.
Ducktales Pt.4
Let's wrap this up. When talking to anti-vax protestors they were more interested in talking about 'The Great Reset Conspiracy' and 'The Mayan Calendar' than vaccinations. Vaccinations were just one of a handful of signs, along with 5G and these new trans people, that the transformative events predicted by the Mayans were happening - 'trans people' the name gives it away! This was 2021 and lockdown restrictions were being eased (thanks to vaccines). Anti-vaxxers can be overly confrontational and aggressive but I managed to begin a conversation. I was a bit thrown when they begun with the Mayan calendar but I joked that that ended in 2012, not 2021, and they'd got the position of the '2' and '1' mixed up. Their convictions weren't the slightest bit perturbed by being 9-years out, the Mayans had got their dates wrong. I pointed out the polarity of believing the Mayans had their date right and wrong at the same time but that didn't faze them either, this was fine
'Our strong attachment to an idea, once formed, has been the subject of much study [by psychologists] since the mid-twentieth century.' According to the analysis of social psychologist Leon Festinger, once we've made a decision about an idea it takes great effort to give up, it can be painful similar to giving up an addiction, so 'we seek out information that confirms the rightness of our conviction - even if it requires us to twist our grey matter into knots.' Festinger called his theory 'cognitive dissonance' (the feeling of discomfort experienced by someone who has their thoughts, beliefs, or values challenged). We humans can believe some out there stuff to avoid binning ideas
Through strong rhetoric and repetition the idea the UK is being overwhelmed by asylum seekers is being imprinted on the minds of the public. Furthermore we are being manipulated to believe refugees and immigrants are criminals. It's a grossly unethical psychological experiment by the tory party and conservative media
It's easy to imagine top tories, behind 20-25 points in the polls getting around a table to discuss how they can divert the attention of conservative voters, and people who can be swayed, away from the last 13 disastrous years they have been in power. Present them with a comforting image of Great Britain - this is what narrative is great at conveying - emphasise the great, use words like history, tradition, values - Home Secretary Suella Braverman even stretched to talking about patriotism (which is popular in America) if we agree with her you are a patriot, if we don't we hate the country and everyone we care about and should be locked up. With this eternal unchanging unsullied image of Britain the tories and journalists can use immigrants and asylum seekers as a lever of persuasion, because only the tories can and will defend Britain from change. The same tories that banned centuries old rambler rights and have almost broken the union
There's an excellent tv series called Dopesick which is a dramatisation about how the Sackler family/Purdue Pharma were responsible for beginning the opioid epidemic in the US. Purdue put 'pain' at the top of the conversation through medical journals, they invented a new type of pain 'breakthrough pain' and had an army of reps to push their drug OxyContin as the safest and most effective way to deal with pain. Immigration and asylum seekers are being identified as where the 'pain' is coming from, in our case, and the tories are the cure. As I've explained an idea once decided on, like immigrants and asylum seekers are the cause of all things going wrong, withdrawal from that idea is painful. Dismissing objections as 'woke nonsense' is a lot easier
I remember chatting to an elderly woman in Small Heath in Birmingham and she told me 'I remember when this area was all Irish not like all these immigrants that live here now.' Of course I pointed out the Irish are also immigrants but she refused to understand
When Braverman and Sunak announced the 'Small Boats' pledge they made much of 'exploitation from criminal gangs' who run the 'small boats' but Braverman and Sunak are also exploiting asylum seekers, first by making them a threat, second by widening the hole for criminal gangs to fill by not providing safe routes. Sunak's pledge is that he will 'Stop The Small Boats' not reduce them, stop them, by the end of term as PM. Elections are next year and apart from making noises he is nowhere when it comes to stopping small boats from making crossings across the channel. Tory HQ hope the noises will allow him a full-term as PM to accomplish his mission
Another contradiction 'small boats' has created is the tories 'tough on crime' stance. Braverman and Sunak are willing to be tough and weak on crime (of course they are far from the first). Braverman has admitted the government's The Illegal Migration Bill also known as the Refugee Ban Bill deliberately breaks multiple domestic and international laws, do as I say not as I do
We knew asylum was going to rise steeply and put our immigration system under extreme pressure decades ago, Britain was either active in conflicts or selling weapons to regimes at war, as the first industrial nation we have contributed to climate change which is displacing people mainly in the global south, as consumers of tech we have aided repressive regimes and pollution in the extraction of metals in the global south. Forced displacement is a massive and immensely complicated problem
The tory government (and the coalition and new labour before them) have decided to treat it like a public relations exercise, psy-ops, or a marketing campaign. Leave.eu used the consulting firm Cambridge Analytica, they helped them get brexit, it seems like the tories now think the British public will believe any old story they tell them

@ducktales-wco-oo said ;; “Well, pretend I’m not here. What would you say if nobody could hear it?” It's a stupid idea and Jayden knows it as soon as it's out of their mouth. But it's better than the alternatives; because they can't outright ask Huey to confide in them. People don't just DO that... either sides of the conversation. You don't go up to someone in pain and pry about what's bothering them. And you don't open up to the well-meaning idiot who thinks it's any of their business in the first place.
Which might be why so many people still seem to be hurting in the world... but Jayden digresses.
So, they can't just ask. But they can't just NOT. So now they're stuck in this odd middle-ground, trying to ease Huey into talking without directly inserting themself into the picture. Jayden knows that if someone tried it with them, they'd look at the person like they were crazy. Because whether or not you pretend, that doesn't change the fact that someone is there. Listening and watching and now KNOWING what is going on... and Huey never has been good at the imagination thing. But still, Huey is smarter than Jayden. In many ways. So maybe he'll be willing to give it a try.
❝  I know it sounds dumb but just—  ❞  Trust me.
❝  ... Give it a shot? Worst case scenario it doesn't work and you're back to square one. Best case scenario- you get some stuff off your chest.  ❞  Jayden shrugs, sitting down beside Huey and picking at their hoodie. Trying to give the illusion of being too busy to pay careful attention to whatever Huey might feel like saying. After all, they aren't here... It's just Huey.
Huey and nobody... but maybe this nobody can help. - (*boops*)

✧ — ⋆ Huey looks over at Jayden, his eyebrows knitted together and a slight frown on their bill.
Pretend that Jayden isn’t here? But they very clearly are here, so how is Huey just supposed to speak openly like they aren’t. That wouldn’t make any sense, he can’t just speak about his problems like that, he can’t put them onto anyone else, they’re his problems and they’re hardly problems at that. It’s just him. He’s being oversensitive, and making things up where they’re not there.
Obviously.
But he doesn’t want to negate Jayden for trying to help. They clearly think Huey needs to speak about something, maybe.. maybe he could try and say something. Just something small. So that Jayden doesn’t feel like their efforts have gone to waist.
“ I don’t know... ” He begins which is probably a bad start because it’s a lie. He does know. He knows exactly what’s wrong. He just has to say it.
Tumblr media
“ I guess... I just... feel like I’m not... useful to my family anymore... ” He finally says and saying it out loud makes him immediately want to take it back, but instead, more comes falling out.
“ I feel like they don’t need me, like I’ve just become an after thought and the only reason they bring me on adventures is because asking me a question is easier than trying to look it up in a book, but even then they have their phones and can just look it up there so I’m not even useful in that way anymore. Since we moved in with Scrooge, Donald doesn’t need my help to take care of things, and since mom came back, Dewey and Louie don’t come to me with their problems anymore, and I just feel like I’m becoming more and more useless to everyone and that they’re just going to forget me entirely and I don’t know what to do about it. ”
It all comes out in a rush before Huey can stop himself, tears gathering in his eyes as he realizes all he’s said and moves to cover his mouth.

Even when they're adults, I still see Skia and Gladion as dorks
Imagine that Gladion proposes to work together with Skia's organization and here's what their conversation would sound like
Gladion: the Aether Foundation is still preparing for the conference, knowing you'd arrive a week later you'd be on time when the preparation is finished
Skia: thank you for the consideration but I'm arriving after the span of 7 hours!
Gladion: oh good *realization* 7 HOURS?! What happened?
Skia: Officer Jenny suspended me from any cruise ships!
Gladion: I'm not even surprised... And what's with all the noise in the background
Skia: haven't heard jet engine before?
Gladion: out of all-
Skia: hey look I can see Aether Paradise now!
Gladion: what about the 7 hours?!
Skia: I'm bad at math
Gladion: I'm not taking any of that!
-🦀 anon
lmao
oh skia, giving your bud a heart attack by crashing a plane into the foundation. like launchpad from ducktales lolol. crash everything and never get hurt!!
gladian is turning an early gray tho lolol

💖🥇💭
Funny story. I was about done answering all three of these questions last night but then the tumblr app glitched and took to me to a notification without saving it. And then I was like, I am NOT writing all that again. Sorry for the delay, friend
💖 What do you like most about your own writing?
Whenever I go back to re-read my stuff I’m always most happy with how all the dialogue came out. Which if I’m being the honest is probably the stuff obsess over the most when I’m writing. It’s both fun and frustrating trying to capture the voice of another character and have them play off another with their own voice. There’s a certain rhythm to the conversations that I like to do when I write dialogue and I’m usually pleased with how everything turns out
Contrast that to when I write the scenes I’m always thinking “Is this dragging on too long? Is this all necessary? Is this redundant? Would they really say that? etc”
🏅 What is something you recently felt proud of in regard to your writing?
I am really proud of the reaction I got for It was a Dark and Stormy Night!, because frankly I thought it wasn’t that good when I finished it and figured it was going to be one of those fics that people wouldn’t care for
I loved the idea for the story but felt I rushed myself since I finished writing it on my lunch break and just felt I needed to get it done so I could focus on the other Duckverse June Prompt so that it won’t be late like Week One’s prompt. Heck I didn’t even want to show my beta readers the finished story because I just thought it wasn’t worth their time and energy to check on it
But once again the DuckTales fandom showed me that there’s still a lot of cool people here. I got a lot of nice feedback from people whose opinions mean a lot to me and now I’m quite pleased with the overall story
💭 What is a headcanon you have about your own work?
Isn’t everything I write that isn’t backed by canon technically a headcanon?
Anyway. I guess I got one for the Indi-Quack! story Convergence at Bud’s Dispensary!. So the story opens up with Gyro entering the dispensary minding his own business only for that to be ruined by Della. After she bothers him, the other characters in that story begin to appear
Since this story opens up with Gyro’s perspective I always like to imagine the second he arrived I. The dispensary was the moment Della spotted him. She then was like “Kids, I’ll be right back. I gotta say hi to Gyro” and then ran off and got into position to catch Gyro off-guard
Louie used that opportunity to convince Dewey to grab the gummies while Huey spotted Fenton and Gandra and decided to go talk with them cause they’re his friends

GUYS GUYS GUYS
So like Della missed a lot of firsts with her boys - first smiles, first laughs, first time they rolled over, first words...
Tumblr media
Imagine her filling out baby books for May and June now.
Like the fam’s doing their Saturday chores, May and June are learning how to dust, and suddenly June sneezes and she’s never done that before so while she’s freaking out like what just happened to me did my head almost explode Della’s just like, “Awwwww! Baby’s first sneeze! IT’S GOIN’ IN THE BOOK!”
