Fabian and Riz to me are like. They’re like the definition of “a secret third thing” to me but not like in a qpr way. MINOR TOTK SPOILERS FOR THE BEGINNING + ZORA MSQ

in a rare turn of events i actually drew fanart for something- anyway this is my reimagining of Sidon and Link's reunion in the game (I see them as queerplatonic partners but romantic/platonic is good too! i just like them). My thought process is that Link is not only so done with world ending shit happening again and again, but BOTW told us he keeps silent to not be a burden to others/be strong for them. And now, with the world needing him all over again, trying to find Zelda to no avail, losing his arm, his sword, he finally breaks. Being the hero is too much.

And then this works well with Sidon's lil character arc of being afraid of losing people close to him again like with Mipha and even though the game didn't really say it, Im POSITIVE that Sidon finding out Link was missing/possibly dead made it worse. (side note, no Yona hate here!! she's cool!! I think she, link, and sidon would make a cute polycule and i have no issue with her she's sweet as hell BUT ANYWAY enjoy the comfort angst)

but because hes still 100% Locked In on his entire plan zhonglis also just . simultaneously dual wielding his coy-ass "i like you and am taking it slow to Savor this developing relationship (Also bc of the Geo Archon Shaped Elephant In The Room) except am old as shit so my languid sense of time inadvertedly Automatically turns my behavior into an equivalent of the dark souls boss of playing hard2get" act (cue "waddup im ajax 24 and im in fucking agony with this hot funeral consultant". Yes they live like this) AND also meticulously theorycrafting like 12 moves in advance for his 6d chess play of leaving the most subtly crafted trail of breadcrumbs behind for the tsaritsas 11th to follow into the intended & completely "Coincidental" idea of unleashing the one particular sealed sea deity that zhongli Specifically wants momentarily released for his sweet 6k retirement party and graduation test for the nation hes helicopter parented for 3.7k years .

(hes in remission not in recovery guys.) so like here we are. he requested notes from the tsaritsa Personally on the character of her 11th just to ensure every move was painstakingly crafted to draw him Specifically to the intended conclusion without risking revealing his true identity .

and zhonglis just sitting there seeing the gears turn in his head as they enjoy their cringe fucking picnic (bc they just stare at each other intently like that nowadays its a thing. being in a room with them by this point is essentially a human rights violation) and is just completely fucking flabbergasted and lost on how in the hell childes speedran his way to that conclusion at what amounts to barely a 13% completion rate in his whole overkill fucking plan (just 1 of 3 contingencies btw) and its like yes he has his intended outcome but also precisely 0 idea on how the fuck said outcome was reached the way it was this fast . like hes still winning its His plan thats well underway and ahead of schedule but How

Debating the 'ethics' of being into The Young Bucks' whole gimmick becomes 100x funnier to me when you consider that the year they went to Japan and met their BFF Kenny the anime fan for the first time was 2008, a year I know from lived experience was the height of popularity of a certain long-running manga, and the year that it officially had its anime dubbed into English for even wider distribution across the western world. A goddamn phenomenon that holds up to the point they're one of the only anime DVDs I haven't thrown out in embarrassment from that era.

A show where two of the most popular characters in a large cast were:

a pair of codependent brothers with boundary issues that had difficulty connecting to anyone else

who loved to fuck with people as power plays and practical jokes and were anti-authority when they could be

flaunted their wealth and taste especially around fashion

consistently got very into making people lose their minds around the idea of being in the middle of that sandwich but rarely were ever interested in following through (see mindfuck interest)

and used all said elements of being hot codependent brothers who were implied to be seconds away from forgetting themselves as a ploy to get that money and control crowds, especially around scenes where one was injured and the other was rushing to comfort them.

I'm not saying Kenny threw on Ouran School Host Club and implied he wanted to be Haruhi (the fics can do that for me). I'm just saying their gimmick was not revolutionary or insane for the time period and people who see it for what it's implying are appreciating what was put in by the artists themselves. For fun.
