Basically reader is known as Punkrock Fredbear and Nightmare, kinda of like a Siamese twin scenario, they are based of Nightmare and Nightmare Fredbear.

They perform more heavy metal songs and are know to play the drums, they are very tall, towering over the daycare attendent (who is said to be at least 9'0 ft tall)

They didn't get corrupted by the virus and ends up helping Gregory and Freddy, and they're grateful for that because reader is disturbingly strong.

How would they're relationship be with the glamrocks, daycare attendents, Gregory and Vanessa?

Glamrock Freddy

A bear just like him?? That’s cool.

Though he didn’t expect Nightbear to be a twin animatronic resembling edgy bears with sharp teeth, punk attire, and a massive height.

But the kids love them! Only because there’s so much of their form to look at--from the belts around their arms to the different colored eyes to the skull painted across their torso. It’s all so fascinating.

Even so, their appearance worried Freddy during SB’s events...when he thought they were gonna be corrupted too.

But, ironically (and thankfully), they’re not. And they choose to help their fellow bear and Gregory survive the night.

They’re scary strong, as seen when they crush STAFF bots and fences that get in the way, which he’s grateful for.

Gregory

This dude is shitting bricks fr.

Usually he doesn’t care but this animatronic’s appearance makes him feel legit terrorized.

Has he shot them with the Fazblaster or Fazcam accidentally? Yes.

But he realizes his mistake and doesn’t hit both of their faces.

He’d rather be with both bears at the same time, though the one time it had to be him and Nightbear two was when they got trapped somewhere and had to pass a group of Endos.

He nearly screamed as they grabbed him--only to hoist him on their gold-plated shoulder as an Endo approached.

And all they did was push past it with ease, knocking over the rest of the group like tin cans.

It made Gregory chuckle a little. Now he’s not afraid anymore and honestly thinks they’re badass.

Monty

Heavy rock/metal was definitely a taste he and Nightbear had in common, even bonding over it and becoming best friends and performing duets together.

But after being corrupted, he only sees them as trying to be better than him: in strength, in teeth (yeah he’s jealous of their chompers), and in songs.

Literally everything they do he thinks he can be better at (except growing two heads, of course).

Will def try to one-up themat every opportunity, even when they reassure him not everything’s a competition and he is already great on his own.

Basically turns into Roxanne, esp when he gets broken in SB, as he directs all his anger at Nightbear, thinking they’re gonna outshine him and replace him.

It gets so bad he attacks them, hoping to get a punch throw at him in return. Yet..they don’t.

He utterly despises them and their stupid twin heads. Too weak and cowardly to use their full strength, he thinks.

But deep down he doesn’t know where all this resentment is coming from..

Glamrock Chica

Would prob be the most skittish around Nightbear out of all of the gang.

Big, scary, twin-headed bear who looks like they’ll eat her for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, and snack is all she thinks about.

In reality they’re pretty chill around her, though they sometimes tease her and call her “Chicken Little” affectionately.

Freddy sees nothing wrong with their looks and would innocently stand by them like “don’t be shy, Chica, say hello!” while they creepily grin.

It’s strange when they see her totally unbothered by their presence after she gets corrupted. Always preoccupied with garbage and bolting at the slightest scent of pizza or sight of Gregory.

It’s sad. And they don’t wanna hurt her and end up making her more afraid of them, so they’ll stay out of the way unless she hurts Gregory.

Roxanne

Tbh she’d square up to prove she’s not intimidated by their size. Like throw playful punches here and there (that just feel like plushies being thrown at them).

She also digs heavy rock music, being Nightbear’s #1 hype-woman when they come on the stage.

Unfortunately they’re too heavy to use the go-karts, but they watch her races and cheer her on when she wins.

All in all a decent friendship, up until she gets corrupted and they’re not.

She’ll only lightly interrogate them on where Gregory is--but grows more desperate as the night passes.

At that point she begs for answers, not caring if she sounded “pathetic” for needing help.

She just had to win.

Yet they don’t help her at all, keeping their promise to Freddy and Gregory, and she feels betrayed.

Sun

Originally he had no idea a non-Glamrock existed until a child proudly showed him their drawing.

He was disturbed to see a two-headed black and yellow bear with sharp teeth and tons of spikes.

Nervously he asked who this was suppose to be and they just said “Nighty-Bear”.

He then asks an employee and they decide to bring the punkrock star themselves to personally visit him---only for Sun to immediately scream and dive into the ballpit in terror.

They’re so freakishly tall. Towering over him!

It took ages to coax him out so they can properly say hello. But after that, he was still anxious to be around them (not bc he’s scared but rather bc they could be dangerous to kids) and shooed them out of the daycare.

He wouldn’t see them at all during SB’s events but that’s probably for the best.

Moon

He’s made kids sob just by looking at them.

But when Nightbear is literally towering over him and a tiny toddler with their teeth bared...they look all starry-eyed and coo as they touch their spiky wristbands.

It makes absolutely no sense.

Sun fears them and Moon envies them so...yeah a friendship is essentially nonexistent.

Once he tried asking Nightbear if they wanted to play the part of the “boogeyman”, and they went along with it.

But the tipping point was when the children found more comfort in them than Moon...and since then he’s resented them.

So when the glitch gets to him, he doesn’t hold back his hatred, stalking them when the lights go out and making it very clear he despises them, thinking they’re gonna take away all the children.

To protect him they had no choice but to break Moon, shattering his limbs so he couldn’t chase after them or Gregory.

Vanessa

Of course, she gave Nightbear the same orders to find Gregory but doesn’t know they’re secretly helping him.

If she questions them, all they do is stare and intimidate her, telling her to be more patient.

But she’s just tired of this bs and remains unfazed by their scariness, insisting they kept searching.

They did try warning her the others are might hurt him since they’re not acting right, though she brushes it off.

Like Gregory she wonders why someone made them look so freaky but says nothing.

Sometimes they’ll mess with her by asking which head she’s talking to “Nightmare” or “Fredbear” if she doesn’t address them by their name.

I think PA’s intention was to continue fighting. All reports a few weeks ago when he lost the hrh and the patronages stated clearly that was what he wanted. His lawyers statements and actions very much suggested that. Questionable actions but clearly the actions of someone fighting. No one expected a settlement. People were waiting for depositions, for smears, for photo investigations, for whatever- not a settlement. My guess is that C and TQ (or C and his lackeys and TQ lackeys) leaned in on him very hard to settle and that the deal was that if he did, they would pay at least part of the settlement. Which doesnt strike me as unfair. I mean, come on, dude’s a creep but he has been pressured into going down without a fight not so much because the whole thing is sordid and shameful and very possibly criminal, but so that his mummy can have her big party in peace (which is ALL the Jubilee thing is really - a year long congratulations on living event, fun for some and glitzy for some and helpful for the monarchy but that’s about it; a very Roman panem et circenses affair ) I’d demand “help”.

As for Eugenie, I dont understand the surprise. The woman lives in their house, basically. Grown woman, picked up her toys and family, and now seems to swing back and forth between daddy’s house and cousin’s house. Clearly she has no problem with either of these guys, or dear Meghan. She told us plain and clear Meghan is dear to her -after the interview- and didnt even say happy birthday to K publicly. While, infuriatingly, we didn't see them get back together onscreen, it is implied that they were back to being a couple. (This is also one of the main issues with Schmico. A lot of things are just implied to have happened through side comments. It makes it more difficult to follow their barely there storyline.)

Again, Levi kept pestering Nico about opening up. He acted like Nico not being ready to talk about his problems/trauma was a direct attack on him. This wasn't about Nico not trusting him, but Nico just not being to talk about it in general. If you can't respect your partner not wanting to talk about things that don't even involve you personally, then maybe you're not mature enough to be in a relationship. There's always a time and a place to talk about deeply traumatizing things, but I assure you, work is not that place.

My main issue here is just that Nico has always been so, so supportive of Levi. He gave him pep talks, hyped him up, stood by his side whenever Levi needed him, because he knew how to support him. Levi tried to comfort Nico the way he would've wanted to be comforted. But Levi never knew how to do that for Nico and he never asked.

I'm not crucifying Levi, I'm just annoyed, because relationship wise, from what we've seen, Levi is pretty selfish. He barely made any effort to learn how to be there for Nico, it has always been the other way around, always Nico adjusting to Levi's needs.

- the scene when SA told JY every little thing he does concerns her and that she didn’t want to feel that way about him anymore. As soon as SA said that homeboy PANICKED!!! I don’t even think he knew how much he liked SA until she said that :’)

- the lunchroom scenes 1) when they were teasing each other and 2) when JY announced that they were dating lolol I love how stoic he normally is but for SA he becomes a softie hehe

-ice cream day date; lol when SA won’t let JY tie her shoelaces bc she didn’t want to fall for him lol ok girl

- when JY asked SA for her handkerchief!!! it’s such a small gesture but they both knew it had a special meaning and I love how it put SA over the moon. (Also let’s include all the other times we see JY actually use that handkerchief- especially after they broke up. like homeboy was holding on to it for his dear life bc it was the only thing he had of SA~~ my fragile heart!!) ps did we ever see SA get a handkerchief from him???? No??? Sbs give me that pls

- when MS was telling JY in the car that SA has only openly confessed liking two things in her life and one them was JY. He was so flustered and couldn’t hide his smile and dimples... bruhhhhh he was full on swoon. Also when JY heard SA say that she really likes JY like he was so proud of himself lmao he’s like “yeah my gf LIKES ME” lolol

- when the lovebirds fought who was gonna clean up the broken glass at JY apartment. I love loveee this one bc SA has been beaten down so much by everyone calling her talentless that she didn’t even consider how important her hands is to her as a musician. And JY being like honey ur a violist and a musician too- UR HANDS ARE PRECIOUS. This was just v touching. Again showing how JY has always considered SA as an equal despite all the shit people say about his gf. luv him :’)

-all the moments JY just stood by SA’s side and held her hand when she needed comfort. I love how he’s just there for her. His silent support was just enough. (One thing that would have been nice is if we saw SA do the same thing, I felt like the writers were almost there but just didn't go all the way which is a shame tbh)

- Their lil day trip to JY’s hometown. I like how JY was so open to SA here. When he proclaimed that he never felt “this way before”  I screamed!! It was at that moment you clearly knew as a viewer that JY never really loved JK. He might have he loved the idea of her, yes. But he never truly loved her the way he loves SA. And his realization of this in that particular episode just made me so so so happy

- Handholding in the bus scene. That shit was so freaking tender bc you can tell how content JY was. He was beyond smitten- homeboy was IN LOVE AT THIS POINT

- when JY dropped SA home. I mean everything about this scene really makes ur heart soft right?? How both of them were beaming? How SA feet probably hurt bc homegirl was wearing heels the whole day and walked another 30 min just so she can spend more time with JY? How she literally ran back to him and JY just had this impression watching her like “my gf is cute af”?? How SA said something along the lines of JY having somewhere to belong to now and you can tell this had a double meaning for him bc at this point he prob considered SA as his home..I was literally mush oh my god. 

-break up scene. I know, v painful- but this was a rare one in kdramaland where I actually thought it was necessary for them to split (still wish it was done earlier but alas I'll take it) It was a graceful and needed breakup. Also when JY pulled out that umbrella for her.... bish it was over for me

- SA’s recital. I MEAN HOW IN SYNC COULD THEY BE. I normally skip the musical performances whenever I watch dramas that are music related- but this show makes it so magical I simply could not. PEAAAKKK ROMANCE

- JY’s recital- when he played that last song I was a big mess cuz we all knew it was dedicated for SA :’’) (I listen to this piece all the time now and im so emo when I hear it bc like god WHEN)

- First I love you scene. JY just going for it and chasing his happiness without caring if SA might reject him. We love to see it

-Second I love you scene. YALL. YALLLLL the way JY just releases his breathe when SA said she can't be friends bc she loves him more than a friend will forever slay me. Kim min jae’s acting here was real good. I love how JY said I love you four times and just went for it. top kissing scene in a krdrama for me hehee 

- dubokki date. lmao at JY with the spicy level. just plain cute

-the quick side by side peek to JY new album in the last episode. the way it showed how their relationship evolved. how he signed it as “for my love song ah” BISH I WANNA DATE A MUSICIAN TOO NOW

- that lil scene where JY wrote SA’s name as the planner bc he knows she works just as hard as the musicians and deserves the recognition. get u a boy who will vandalize a program notice for u :)

- basically all the scenes at the end of ep 16. I wish all of them were longer. I wanted to see more of them dating and happy!!! But I just love how they are both so INTO each other and you can see how happy JY is bc he finally has that person back that understood him since the beginning and it makes you feel so warm knowing they’re each other’s support system ahhhh I love their love !!

- also just all the scenes that JY looks at SA lovingly ~~ which literally happened since ep 1 I mean they are literally heart eyes emoji for each other every time :’)) 

- oh oh OH special shout out to ep 11 when JY just can’t stop holding SA’s hands !! the way he does it is so freaking INTIMATE like if I can only describe how I feel whenever I see compilation gifs of that episode where JY just reaches out and holds SA’s hands so steadily and tightly...it’s literally the most heartwarming thing.. idek how to explain what I’m trying to convey but I just vibe with it so much?? it’s so intimate and romantic.. Kim min jae I will die 4 u my love

To be fair it’s sort of random and based on the character I have to draw/the pose/ what they’re wearing haha...........don’t be like me this is why my anatomy is often questionable - if I had to give you a model tho, do you know those wooden models for artists? the very basic ones you can get for cheap anywhere, I mostly break up my bodies following the way it’s broken down on those lil dudes!

We Need to Talk (Mallek Week Day 4)

Day 4: Mallek working through his feelings for someone (in any quadrant) or write how Mallek dies.

I tried to think about how to write this one, the idea was in my head but difficult to put into words, but I got there eventually. Choosing the first prompt I wrote this piece about Mallek trying to figure his feelings for Zack (My OC) after learning the other has feelings for him. I’ve also attached a google doc link with the pesterlog section in color and text. Please enjoy the read!!!

Mallek was sitting on his couch, he was just staring at his palmhusk. Tightly holding some device with both hands. A look of stress was spread across the troll’s face. On the screen he was staring at his trollian app, grumbling his frustration he just tossed the device aside. Grabbing a pillow, he then loudly groaned into it. Why was this so hard? Why couldn’t he just talk to Zack. Why was this difficult to express? Thinking about the human, his cute adorable face. Those golden eyes, his smile… See. It was SO easy to think about and let the thoughts run around in his mind, but write or physically speaking to him.

His feelings had been compromised, and complicated now after learning how the other felt about him. It was worse since it was eavesdropping, technically. After a party, he was halfway between consciousness and sleep, and Zack was talking with Diemen about Mallek thinking he was passed out, and during this conversation, the human shared with Diemen his romantic feelings for Mallek, and he that was in love with him. Of course, Mallek was shocked and had to remain silent while they were speaking. That was a few days ago, and since then he had been awkward around Zack, and he had been trying to message Mallek, but the cerulean had been avoiding his messages.

Of course, this wasn’t the right course to go about this… Zack might take it the wrong way or think he had done something wrong to offend Mallek. But Zack could never do that to him, and he didn’t want to hurt his friend’s feelings by ignoring him. Zack had told Diemen that even though he had feelings for Mallek he didn’t want to jeopardize their friendship or make things awkward. Too late for that. But again, he heard something that wasn’t supposed to. Mallek was confused about how to approach this, and couldn’t keep dodging Zack forever since the other could just as easily come straight to his hive. The silence was broken by the notification noise from his palmhusk, he knew they were from Zack. Sighing, he grabbed his device. Preparing himself, he began typing a response to the other.

--previous messages-- --sent last night at 23:25-- GL: Mallek are you okay! GL: Has something happened, you haven’t responded to me. GL: Have I done something? Have I upset you or are you seriously lost in your coding?? XD GL: If that’s that case, then I just wait until you’re done. Reply when you can. --sent 5 hours ago-- GL: Okay this is really weird… What’s going on? Have I done something? --sent 2 hours ago-- GL: Please answer me, I’m getting really worried about now. GL: Dude. I will come over to your hive. --sent 5 minutes ago— GL: MALLEK!

Mallek felt better, finally replying to the other relieved a little of the tension. But when Zack arrives, it’s gonna be even more awkward with him standing there in front of him. What was he gonna talk about? Was he gonna tell the other that he heard about his conversation and he knew about his feelings. He was gonna tell him how he felt… How did he feel? Thinking about it, the cerulean honestly had never considered if his feelings would develop for Zack.

But after spending all this time with the other, becoming closer, a strong friendship. Sure, Zack was one of the few people he was flirty with, he felt comfortable to lower his guard around the human, and vice versa, Zack, in the beginning, had been reserved, guards raised up, always looking over his shoulder. Now he was at a point where he could just fall asleep beside Mallek and not be on high alert. Zack felt safe with him…

And he felt safe with the other, thinking back to more of their tender moments, the pair weren’t always subtle about their mutual attraction, joking, flirting, and Mallek teasing the other. Cutting out the bullshit, right down to it Mallek did have feelings for Zack. He liked him. But it was just difficult to express it into words. He needed more time. He couldn’t keep Zack hanging on by threads and he wanted to give a proper answer.

He likes Zack but was he ready to be in a relationship with him? Is Mallek boyfriend material? feelings aside would a red relationship between him and Zack actually work. Shaking his head to the sides, he was thinking too far ahead about this. At that time, hearing his door knocking, jumping out of his seat, quickly approaching his door. Taking a deep breath, Mallek opened the door to Zack, dressed in his varsity jacket zipped up, jeans and boots.

When their eyes met, Mallek gave the other a half-hearted smile. “Hey, Zack.” He simply said.

“Hi…” Zack returned with an awkward smile, the troll then gestured for the human to come on in which he did, stepping inside with Mallek closing his door.

“I would say sorry about the mess, but you’re used to I-” His attempt to make small talk was cut short when Zack without warning threw his arms around Mallek, hugging him from behind.

“I’m glad you’re okay.” Zack had buried his face into the back of Mallek’s shirt, his voice was muffled a little, but the cerulean blood could make it out. Just his cheeks were blue, blushing from the other’s embrace.

“I really had ya worried for me huh?” Mallek looking back at the other, he couldn’t help but smile at him. Just then Zack let go of the other, he felt a tad flustered, rubbing the back of his head.

“S-Sorry about that… So, what was it that you needed to talk about?” Curious to know what Mallek wanted to talk about, the other then gestured for Zack to sit down with him.

“This is kinda hard for me to express, but… You need a clear answer from me.” Looking down into his hands, occasionally looking at Zack.

“So, I kinda, sort of… Overheard your conversation with Diemen. Back at the party, when you guys thought I passed out… I wasn’t.” Mallek’s words were awkward, hesitating with each sentence. Zack at that moment had to process what the other was referring to, and upon realising it, his face went dark with blush.

“Y-You… You were eavesdropping on us?” This surprised him as Mallek wasn’t the type to do that. The troll started waving his hands frantically in a defensive manner.

“No, no, no! Not intentionally. I was about to pass but then I heard my name, and then I felt awkward, so then I just kept still and waited until you were done.” Mallek explaining to the other. “I didn’t mean to listen, but I couldn’t help it…”

“Wow this is really uncomfortable. So how much did you hear?” Zack nervously asked, Mallek was able to look the other the eye, awkwardly chuckling.

“Haha… I wasn’t listening to every detail, just what you said about me… That I make your heart beat faster.” Zack put his face into his hands, hiding his blushing face.

“Oh god.” His voice muffled in his hands, this wasn’t happening. He wanted to die right there.

“I was avoiding you, but it was because I felt awkward knowing about this… But also, I needed to think about where my own feelings are on this.” Mallek gently placed his hand on Zack’s shoulder, smiling.

“I wanted to explain to you how I feel about it, and you… But I was struggling with how to go about it, and I kept hitting a wall. Again, I should’ve messaged earlier, so my bad.” The awkwardness in his voice was gone, reassuring the other.

“I like you Zack.” Mallek simply told him, making Zack look up at him. “You’re a really good guy.”

“It’s a lot of fun being around you, and I learned so much from you. Stuff about the sessions, my powers, and the world, and life beyond Alternia.” The cerulean turned to face the other.  

“I really love how kind you are too… You’re so strong, even though you have your own demons. You keep moving forward, carrying others.” Listing all the things he liked about Zack was making the human’s face blush even more.

“You make me smile, I feel comfortable around you. I don’t have to put a façade around you, we are at a point where I can share things with you.” Mallek reaching out slowly, his hand resting over Zack’s.

“I don’t wanna string you along, or give mixed signals… I like you too, but I’m ready to initiate a relationship/quadrant with you.” Zack’s expression changed for a second, disappointment, confusion, but he understood.

“Yet.” Mallek added. “With everything hanging over us, my life, your mission, and the game. It isn’t the best of times, the extra-long distance too since you're often off-planet.”

“So, after we're at a more stable point with our lives… We can go on a date and go from there.” Mallek said, smiling at him. Hearing that made Zack light up.

“Is that okay?” Mallek asked the other who just shook his head. “That’s absolutely fine.” Zack answered chuckling nervously with Mallek laughing with him.

“I’m willing to try this. I… I want to.” Mallek squeezed Zack’s hand, the other holding his hand tightly too.

Later on, the two were playing one of Mallek’s games, mashing buttons on their controls, with the troll deliberately trying to knock Zack’s arm to throw him off his game. Both of them laughing and just having a good time, back to normal. Mallek was also looking at Zack from the corner of his eyes, the other focused on the game. His cheeks dusted a faint blue shade of blush, smiling warmly at him.

Zack could understand where Mallek was coming from. He wasn’t expecting them to just start a loving relationship there and then. But his answer still surprised him. They needed time, it took time for them to build a friendship and to trust each other as partners in the game. So, a romantic relationship would take as much time, love takes time, and it takes effort.

With their individual lives, with Zack trying to pilot the ARK, always at the different point of the universe, Mallek’s plan with the drones, learning about his session. And he didn’t want to confess to Mallek and possibly damage their friendship, but the other had the same feelings for him. Just to a different degree to Zack, and that was okay.

Thoughts on Under the Moonlight

This post contains main story spoilers so do not read if you have yet to finish the story and don't wish to be spoiled!!!

Some of the gameplay changes (such as greed-only in raids...) are things I'm definitely not a fan of, but there's way more that I enjoy. I'm thinking about the story, though, and I want to say that I liked it overall... but I guess my feelings are a bit more complicated? It wasn't my favorite chapter by far, but it was good enough I suppose.

The fight against Tsukuyomi was great. I mean, it was hella sad, but it was fantastic. I loved the visuals, the music, and the idea that her adds were specters from her life given form. Honestly it was just beautifully done. That said, I am disappointed that Yotsuyu had to die — I had hoped that she'd never get her memories back, and go on to live a normal life. I don't necessarily think she "deserved" that, but something about her remembering everything and returning to how she was before just felt contrived to me. But, at least she had some amount of development; it's just unfortunate that she's such an utterly broken person that the better answer for her was to die.

And, at least she got to murder the heck out of Asahi. Sorry not sorry, I haaaated him. (;¬_¬)

One thing I am incredibly unhappy about (maybe even a bit mad) is that it would appear that Zenos made an Echo jump to some other dude's body before he died. I don't really care about Elidibus possessing his body, that's pretty standard affair for Ascians. But I'm specifically kind of buttmad that SE can't just let the Real Zenos be dead, and have that be the end of it. I feel that his arc as a villain was complete, and that his suicide was a fitting end for him. Dragging out his presence like this, in my opinion, completely cheapens the ending of Stormblood. SB was incredibly well-written, and I felt such a feeling of pride and accomplishment by the end of it, but having Zenos still promenading around in some form really just ruins it. It makes it all seem pointless, and the whole plot point seems forced.

I think, generally, I am ambivalent.

I’m already tearing up this is so stupid!!! One of the main reasons I’m replaying is to try and figure out why people think HW is good but! It’s even worse the second time around! WHY would Aymeric do something so reckless? He doesn’t even make a contingency plan! It’s ridiculous! Goddammit man. And the foreshadowing. Fucking Haurchefant. I’ve only grown more attached to him this time around, especially because I’ve made a point to talk to every NPC for extra dialogue. He says, right now before The Vault, “My arm will not falter; my shield will not break. I promise you: we shall prevail!” He’s half right. And half literally wrong... the direct reference to his broken shield... this is evil. This is just so so bad. I’m going to sob like a baby a second time when he dies again. I love this dude.

Yes this is me procrastinating. I’m not sure if there’s another time after this when he’s loaded into the overworld. He and that moment in The Vault are perhaps the best part of this stupid expac. Genuinely feels like SB took a bunch of the core ideas but gave them actual depth and made them Good. Or at least Better. At least it all made sense for the most part. And had a villain I had literally any interest in. I do not care about the Heavens Ward. Ok I care about Zephirin but that’s just because I do continue to want his head on a pike. But the rest of them? And Thordan? Completely uninterested. They really should have expanded on Ishgard’s religion more, earlier, maybe instead of some of the silly bullshit we go through on our journey with Estinien and Ysayle. Like, they set it up later, which lets me see what they were trying to do now, but when I played the first time I didn’t understand that Thordan was trying to use his peoples’ faith to turn himself into a primal until I was crossing blades with him.

I just. This sucks. After seeing how good the story can be this undeniably is bad. They should have leaned into the WoL being a tool, because they absolutely are for this entire expac. The reason I love Haurchefant so much is because he actually gives a damn about the WoL as his friend, and not just a capable fighter. That entire journey before could have been so good if the story had at least attempted to create/expand some sort of emotional connection between the WoL and Estinien/Alphinaud, maybe Ysayle though for how quickly she becomes irrelevant it wouldn’t have mattered much. They had the foundation there! They put that seed of doubt in your mind, and then never do anything with it. I swear, they don’t touch on it much in the later expacs either. I’ve talked about this though, how there isn’t really anywhere for that thread to go without serious story implications if the answer is anything other than “I choose to do this, serving as a tool is my will.”

My personal answer, for both of my WoLs, is “I enjoy this.” Much more fun to play around with in my head, that secret selfishness. Both of them could care less about the fate of the star, as long as they’re still around to fight bigger and badder enemies, currently to destroy Zenos and hopefully Zodiark and Hydaelyn along with him. Granted Doran does share a will with Secret, so it’s really just her that wants this. Made ShB really fun, when she was struggling with actually starting to care about the world and her friends, since they... at least sort of appeared to care for her, as a person and not just a weapon. Will also be fun with Doran, who struggles with distinguishing himself from Secret, even as a shard of her, willing himself to care for those around him, to take more than just a passing interest in the world. Although with some knowledge from Secret, he’s seeing some stuff from a different perspective. The big one, currently, is Aymeric’s ridiculous plot here. Where Secret blamed solely herself for Haurchefant’s death, Doran also sees that it was Aymeric’s recklessness that got them into the situation in the first place. He is also, I think, a bit more prepared to accept his death as what Haurchefant wanted, which would give Secret some measure of peace.

Since I know I’ll look back on these eventually anyways, I’ll explain shortly. Secret Dusk is my primary WoL. Doran Stokes is one of seven souls joined to her from a past Rejoining, in addition to Ardbert’s and of course her own soul originating in the Source. Secret has been doing a hell of a lot of reflecting in between action (me writing about her and reading through old quest logs, and doing dark knight stuff), and... sort of unconsciously started to relive things. The world recreated within herself, from the beginning of her journey though a little different, for one of her shards to experience. And Doran, being the first to be rejoined to her, was the lucky winner.

He is, of course, deeply attached to Secret, and is delighted to be able to interact with this world as she did, even if he’s having some separate experiences. He retains some knowledge from Secret, with just enough missing for things to still be dramatic to him. Both Secret and Doran exemplify things I like to imagine of Azem, Secret being primarily their analytical and accommodating nature, and Doran being a carefree traveler. Both are reckless in equal measure, willingly or no, though Doran leans into this a bit more. He keeps up with 3 classes, all DPS: Bard, Red Mage, and Dragoon. All have the capacity to make him fly off the edge of arenas which I think is funny. All have a penchant for wandering.

Bard is his, I suppose, canon class, or at least his most favored one. Dragoon he picked up simply because he started in Gridania and it was there, and kept up with it in HW because when in Rome and all that. And Red Mage is there because he wanted to try his hand at magic, though... I think I’ve realized that I just don’t like playing casters. At least not in solo play. Way too squishy. Love playing DRG in a dungeon and the tank overpulls and dies and suddenly *I* have the aggro, so I pop arm’s length and bloodbath and AoE my heart out while praying the healer can keep up. Feels even better on the off-chance it works!

That was not a short explanation at all. Oh well. Guess I’ll go shower so I can prepare myself to sob about fictional men.

Broken tanks.

We had a veritable smorgasbord of tank-offs in the NFL this week and nobody wanted to lose. The Bengals, Dolphins, Giants and Washington all own picks in the top five of the draft, and found themselves playing each other.

Conventional wisdom says that in this situation, the teams would be trying their darndest to screw it all up and get the highest pick. Instead we got this:

Two games, both 35-35 ties at the end of regulation, all going to overtime. In a perfect world we’d have gotten double ties too — just to punctuate the absurdity of it all. But the Giants and Dolphins decided to win and ruin all the fun.

That said, damn we need to appreciate just how hard Andy Dalton worked to try and get the Bengals a win. I can’t imagine what it’s like for a longtime quarterback to see fans fawning over the No. 1 pick right in front of you. But obviously Dalton decided this meant doing his all to try ensure that doesn’t happen, and who doesn’t love a good revenge story?

The Bengals were down 35-19 with 33 seconds left in the game when Dalton decided to go Super Saiyan, throwing two touchdowns and converting two two-point conversions in less time that it took me to conceive, and type, this sentence.

It was ridiculous, fun, and everything neither the Bengals, nor Dolphins, have been this season. As a result of the loss, the Bengals have now secured the No. 1 pick in the draft.

The NFC West is still the wackiest division in football.

Only the NFC West could produce a Super Bowl team in 2018 that then doesn’t make the playoffs. It’s also produced two of the best teams in football (49ers and Seahawks), only to have Seattle lose to the lowly Arizona Cardinals while we’re just a week removed from the 49ers losing to the Falcons.

Nothing is easy in the NFC West, and I enjoy watching the division do its best to eat itself like Pizza the Hut each week.
