A few things happening that I didn't mention it and they're pretty intense they are pretty heavy and they're predominant and it is happening now one of them is we are
-entering the rainy season. And rains go for like several months and sometimes flooding occurs and it is somewhat natural in the past they would get probably 20 in of rain all season and past few years here I'm getting about 30 to 40 in place as much rain and that's due to ships and there's a lot of them and they would bring in the moisture from the ocean in the form of small vortexes and it was really swapping the place and another water was able to move right now and the water is risen and the flow rate is very high and underwater streams and rivers are pressurized it's increasing in pressure right now there should be a removal of approximately one foot of Mach I think within the next day or two from the canals along the western shore and also harbor and fort Myers and Tampa was another half those are Mark it's usually it's probably about 8 to 10 ft which is another half yes there's only two halves.. and it is going to happen very shortly and everybody knows it and it is on right now where is the rain has started but really it's unnatural and I think that the rain from the natural the season is only six or seven inches it's mild and it rains every few days but we're going to have a massive massive daily I believe coming tonight and into tomorrow through tomorrow and so far it hasn't done anything and I believe the Marcus ready to let loose and someone says there's just a bit more pressure and Flow and it's going to go on its own and in several lifts and that my husband's right because it will pressurize and force its way into the mock because the monkey is shower and what was happening before is the water was done building up it was staying at the same level and the month was just building up and building up and building up now the water is very high and it's going to flow fast and then slow but there's a risk there's going to be some flooding but it's reduced because in my husband's area there were about 4 ft of Mark at the bottom of all those canals and now there's about two feet or less in the areas I'm so it's good it helps out a lot and I'm told that some of it may let loose tonight because there is a ledge that goes all the way to the bottom of the total of 4 ft and that will encourage you to happen once again 15 roughly or 6:18 tonight and at that time it will begin to flow outwards and the rains won't come until later so we might experience another movement of the mock they are handed me a test report and it says that it is almost ready it might not be this go around and but it could be ready for at midnight onwards to 3:00 a.m. and if not then it would be the morning and the rain will begin around 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning so he'll be socked in a little bit it shouldn't be too bad recently it hasn't been that bad and it's not because of the shield people think it is because of the weather
-another thing happening is there are a lot of people who are coming here to fisherman's village in order to say dumb things to my husband and a stupid things to each other but some of them are saying goodbye to a lot of people including him but really not much at all he says it's really only a few people and some are actually very moved and one woman has said it a several times and she needs and she knows what it's like and that she's thanking him and feels bad for him because of what happened to his dad and it is somewhat rare and people saw it and a lot of people were touched and thought about it and thought and thought that they should probably try and see if their act and a lot of people are trying to do that
more shortly
Hera
We appreciate her talk is accurate well-timed and will needed we are moving on to a different phase of the operation shortly and we do need all of our people's attention we are in a critical point tonight and we do want everybody to come to duty as soon as possible

Gender roles are a LIE
Kantoph AU - Lin and Tenzin's wedding.
Kanto: "Toph, our little girl is so pretty...!"
Toph leans into him: "If you say so. She seems happy enough, so I'm good."
Kanto looks down to Toph, his eyes start to water: "Wait, right, you can't see her. No. No no no. That's not fair. You can't see how pretty she is!"
Toph: "Yeah yeah yeah, you know, I'm used to it, remember. Hotshot, did you really forget I'm blind...."
Kanto: "But... it's not faiiiiii~r...."
Toph: "Oh dear... you know... you can describe all the details later. Like you always show me flowers?"
Kanto stops sobbing and looks at Toph with the most serious expression he can muster right now: "....I can try to, but just so you know: There are no words to describe her."
Toph huffs and calls over to Lin: "You hear that badgermole?"
Lin and Tenzin walk over to Kanto and Toph.
Lin: "What's going on...?"
Kanto hugs Lin: "You are so pretty, and your mother can't even see it..."
Lin pats his back and looks to Toph: "Mom...?"
Toph shrugs and grins: "Let him have his 5 minutes, he'll get over it. It's kind of adorable..."
Lin looks over to Tenzin: "Please tell me you won't be like that when our kids marry."
Tenzin: "Yeah well, you are not bli-... wait. Our kids?"
Now Tenzin starts tearing up.
Lin: "Oh no! Not you, too!"
Toph: "I always told you: Gender roles are A LIE. The men cry so much more."
Lin has now Kanto on one shoulder and Tenzin on the other: "At least ours..."
Toph and Lin grin at each other.

unplanned pregnancy, fuck buddies, married au
warnings: raw sex, some curse words, cockwarming, consensual intercourse,*pls remind me if i missed something.
part 2
Chapter 1:
word count: 1,347 words
-----
Y/N and Jungkook’s been married for 2 years now, it isn’t the typical type of marriage though. It was that “arranged marriage” type of shit the both of you didn’t even know you’ll experience when they just saw those in books and movies on the screen. Mind you, it should've just lasted for a year. That is why both of you agreed even though you both hesitated, it was for the benefit of each other’s worlds so why not? Not until that one instance that you two decided to use each other for pleasure. No intentions of settling and falling for the other.
-
“Hmm, JK?” you hummed as you asked for your husband’s attention while the two of you were sitting at the sofa in the living room of your shared home. “Yes?” Jungkook replied curiously as you normally talked to him formally. “ Can I kiss you?” you blurted out making the lad in front of you choke with his own saliva due to shock. “Why would you even ask me that, we didn’t even kiss for real at our wedding” Jungkook laughed even though he was amused and holding himself to kiss and devour you right there and then. “It’s just that I think I’m nearing my period, you know hormones,and your lips look so soft though.” you honestly told him.
You then gave up with the thought and just went to the fridge to get some snacks to fill you up, while choosing upon the snacks you both stocked up, you were startled when your body was abruptly turned by no other than your husband. Jungkook claimed your lips and kicked the door of the fridge causing some bottles to shake. You immediately responded by the time you adjusted because no one knows how you needed someone to release your accumulated desire.
Jungkook grabbed your ass and without any thinking you jumped to him, wrapping your legs to his hips. Jungkook broke the kiss, “Should we continue this upstairs?” He asked. You nodded and while his hands were still on your thighs, he carried you through the stairs while you’re doing your job of pressing your breasts against his chest to heaten the session more.
The two of you arrived in your bedroom, still kissing. “Do we let anything happen tonight?” Jungkook asked like he was asking for permission. You nodded and told him that the two of you won’t lose anything if you do.
You then found yourself moaning his name for hours in the middle of the night. The both of you didn’t even know how to stop to the point that you two slept with his shaft inside you. By the time you two woke up because of work you even shared a steaming shower. Aware of the fact that you two did that mainly because of lust, disregarding the fact that the two of you are married.
Work for the both of you became exhausting each day, Jungkook works as the Chairman of their companies and you work as the Medical Director of the hospitals your family owns. The businesses mentioned are the main cause of your marriage.
The both of you looks forward to the end of the day to release stress through sex, orgasms and other lustful things. You two decided to act as “fuck buddies” for each other just to be safe and clean of diseases you might get if you fuck strangers. You’re updated at your injectables that’s why you won’t worry about being fucked raw.
---
“Uh-Jungkooo-oh shit!” you moaned out of pleasure while Jungkook digs in deep of your cunt. “Do you want me deeper?” He asked. “Yes, please!” You shouted as he held on to your shoulders for more support as he really did fucked you deeper. You switched positions and now you’re on top of him. “Insert it, babe” Jungkook told you as you held onto his dick and positioned it at your entrance. “Ah-fuck!” he hissed as you buried his cock inside your dripping pussy. He held onto your breasts as you jumped the shit out of you to pleasure yourself and the man under you. “I’m near Jungkook, do you want us to do it at the same time?” You asked haphazardly while catching your breath. “Yes, Y/N, just hang in there, I’m near too.” He told you and more thrusts later you were filled by both of your warm juices. You threw yourself in the bed while hot liquids were still dripping out of you.
You reached for your phone and almost threw it when you saw the time, it’s almost 8 in the morning, you didn’t even notice because of the pleasure of your morning session with your husband now back to sleeping naked, tired of what the two of you just did. You were running late for some check-ups you needed to do at the Pediatrics.
Pediatrics is your specialty field even though you didn’t imagine having kids for yourself because of the responsibilities you can’t even think of how to handle. You grabbed your keys and your coat as you finished preparing yourself. Cheeks still flustered with that after-sex glow, you drove to the hospital leaving your snoring husband knowing that he doesn’t have a certain time for work.
---
You finished your rounds and check-ups by 11 a.m, you decided to go home early to catch up some sleep because you fucking woke up at 6:30 a.m just to find yourself moaning and cumming multiple times.
Before you even grabbed your coat, your secretary knocked telling you that you have a schedule for the OB’s. You nodded and set your coat and your bag aside as you went to the nearby office of the doctor you’re looking for. You asked her secretary and she immediately let you inside. Dr. Park displayed a face of shock when she saw you. “Do you need anything, Dr. Y/L/N?” she asked you curiously not knowing your main agenda. “Huh? I have a schedule for my injectables today, am I missing something?” You asked flabbergasted. “I thought you'd quitted getting injectable contraceptives because you were supposed to have them last week?” she said, leaving you in a peculiar expression. “Can’t I get them today?” you asked while the thoughts of you being filled with Jungkook’s cum almost everyday the past few weeks surrounding your head making you quite nervous and paranoid. “I’m afraid you can’t, as I look into your records you can get them the first week of the next month if you want.” she said leaving you astonished. “Oh, I see, I’ll just come back by then.” you said immediately leaving her office, dashing into yours upset or what not, you’re fucking confused right now.
You drove to some store removing the thoughts of the information you accumulated earlier to unwind, shop for a little and grab some take-out foods to comfort you somehow. Carrying the shopping bags you got and a pizza meal you went home just to find your god-like husband in his sweats and a plain shirt far from his everyday designer coat-clad. You greeted him while he grabbed the things on your hand to aid you. After he settled those he grabbed your ass and bit your lower-lip. “Luckily I didn’t have work errands today, I was so tired of what we did early in the morning.” he told you. “So you just slept in?” you asked and he agreed. The both of you shared pizza and watched a movie and you ended up sucking him in, completely forgetting your paranoid thoughts, you found yourself cockwarming him while you watch a movie.
Weeks passed you noticed your clothes are tight-fitting, you often fall short on your breath and gets tired easily. “Fuck” you thought, you were no dumb not to realize all of those symptoms if you must say. The test in front of you said it is positive so you just confirmed for yourself. Not wanting anyone to know yet, not even your husband, you just went to hide the plastic strip.

masterlist
You check your phone for at least the 80th time in the past ten minutes. You just cannot seem to focus on your assignment that’s due in the morning. Why you waited to do one of the biggest projects of the year in five hours is a mystery to you. Running your hands through your hair and taking a sip of the coffee that’s been your companion since 11:00 pm, you place your fingers on the keyboard with the intention of writing as much as you can in a span of five minutes. You have to work in little bursts, that’s the only way you’ll get the project done at this point.
You’re almost finished with another body paragraph when your phone begins ringing, disturbing the silence and causing you to jump in your place on the couch. Looking down, you see that it’s one of your closest friends.
“Hey, Seungcheol, what’s up? Why are you up at 3:00 am?”, you ask through the phone after swiping the green ‘answer’ button over on your screen.
“I’m working on this dumb project just like I’m guessing you are,” he retorts. It sounds like he’s laying upside down on his bed or something because his voice sounds a little distorted.
“Wow, I’m glad to know there’s another person who procrastinates just as badly as me,” you laugh out while scrolling through the 43 page document you have yet to complete.
You hear some shuffling on the other end of the phone, “Hey, would you want to maybe stay up together and finish these projects? Either you can come over to mine or I can come to yours?” he suggests.
For some reason you get butterflies in your stomach, anxiety slowly rising, “Oh! Yeah, sure, you can come over here if you want!”
“Sweet, I’ll be there in like 10 minutes! I’ll pick us up some coffees on the way, too,” he cheerily responds as you hear him loading things into his backpack and zipping it up.
“Sounds good! I take mine with-”
“Three creams and two sugars. Don’t worry, I remember,” Seungcheol says, you can basically hear the cheeky smile plastered on his face. “I’ll be there in a few!”
Once the call is hung up, you immediately spring up from your place on the couch and begin frantically cleaning your apartment. There are dishes in the sink that still need cleaned, papers and shoes strung everywhere. It’s not that you’re unclean, you just are way too busy to keep tidy every day. Maybe you also changed into an outfit better looking than the baggy sweatpants and tshirt you had on...not for Seungcheol of course. Just because you...felt like it.
As you were drying the final dish from your sink, there was a rap on the door. You quickly make your way over and look out the peephole to check that it’s who you are expecting. You notice that Seungcheol is wearing a red hoodie with his glasses on (which he rarely wears to class) and his hair is quite disheveled as well.
You try to subdue your smile and twist the lock, swinging the door open. “Hiii,” he says, outstretching his hand with a coffee cup in it, a big smile plastered on his face.
“You are literally a life saver,” you exasperatedly respond, grabbing the cup from his hand and welcoming him in. He makes his way over to the couch and set his bag down at the opposite end of you.
“How much do I owe you?” you ask, lifting up the coffee cup slightly as you join him.
“Oh, don’t worry about it. Your company is enough,” he casually says while pulling his laptop out of this bag. A blush creeps up on your face. It’s not that you like Seungcheol, but maybe you have a crush on him? Maybe? ...Probably.
At first, you two tried you very best to focus on the project. You discussed what each of your topics were and how you were approaching them. But somewhere along the lines you got to talking about your favorite tv shows & holidays and everything else went out the window.
It was now 5:00 am and you two had Christmas music on, playing at full volume in your kitchen while making cookies. Thankfully you happened to have all of the ingredients to make his favorite. Of course, you definitely should be working on your projects, but that’s just a grade. This is a memory you’ll keep forever.
You ended up with flour all over your face (courtesy of the hijinks of one mister Choi Seungcheol), so you smeared the melted chocolate in his hair. By the end of the little food fight, you both ended up within inches of each other, a giggling mess.
Looking up at him through your eyelashes coated in flour, your eyes flick down to his lips. The room grows noticeably quieter, the only noise heard is the fading jingle-jangle of a Christmas tune. Clearing your throat, you say, “We uh...we should probably get back to the projects…”
“Yeah, you’re probably right,” he responds, looking down at you fondly.
After getting cleaned up, you work on your projects in silence for about an hour, only speaking when asking each other questions about the project. At 6:30 am, Suengcheol’s phone starts ringing loudly, startling both of you which causes slap happy giggles to come from both of you as you make fun of the other’s shocked face.
“Must be my alarm for my eight a.m.” he says, while closing his laptop and packing his things up.
“You’re actually going to it?? After staying up all night? PLus with chocolate in your hair,” you tease him.
“That’s why I’m going back to take a shower and then power through this class,” he responds, slinging his bag over his shoulder.
Standing up, you walk him over to the door, “Thanks for the coffee…and company,” you smile  while leaning against the doorframe, completely exhausted.
“Of course, anytime,” Seungcheol says. “Now please go get some sleep, I can tell you are so exhausted.”
You let out a breathy laugh and nod as he makes his way down the steps of your apartment, “See ya!” he calls out.
“Bye!” you chime as you close the door behind you. Pressing your back against it, you’ve decided: you definitely have more than just little crush on Seungcheol.
As you are wrapped in reliving your memories of the past hour, you are startled by another sharp knock at your door. Turning around to open it, you see Seungcheol.
“Hey, did you forget-” you begin.
“Could I kiss you?”, he asks, eyes wide, full of hope. All you can think to do is nod your head yes because you are too shocked to even think of words. Seungcheol quickly leans his head in and gives you a quick and soft peck on the lips. He pulls away, blush evident on his face as he stumbles his way back down the stairs.
“Okay, bye for real this time! And thanks for letting me kiss you, I hope to do it again sometime when I’m not rushed!” she shouts up the staircase.
“Me too,” you quietly say to yourself, waiting in excitement for the next time you see him.

boba kisses
i wrote something short and sweet for OC kiss week! this is featuring ellinor and @cullenvhenan‘s OC caridad <3 ily ellie and happy valentine’s day!
***
“We need to talk,” Ellinor huffs as soon as Avery opens the door to their shared apartment. She crosses her arms—not that she needs to; the tone in her voice alone has him raising his eyebrows and throwing his hands up in feigned defense.
He kicks the door closed behind him and tosses his keys into the dish on the counter. “What did I do this time?”
She narrows her eyes at him, crossing her arms. “Pastry delivery this morning.”
He knows what she means. She can tell. Because he goes from being defensive to being completely and utterly pleased with himself, a shit-eating grin spreading over his face before he even answers.
This was all his fucking plan, she thinks.
Earlier that day, she’d gone in for her shift at the cafe—her one opening shift of the week, because she’d probably die if she did more than that. Clocked in. Started brewing the coffees, grinding the espresso. At 6 a.m. sharp, the back door buzzer sounded—Avery, she’d figured, here to deliver the daily pastry and bagel order from the bakery across the street. The bakery Caridad Lacanilao owned. Caridad’s bakery. The bakery owned by Caridad, who Avery worked for. Caridad, she thought wistfully before shaking her head abruptly. Avery always delivered the pastries in the morning, and he always gave her shit if she didn’t let him in quickly. So she wiped her hands off on the apron loosely tied over her flannel top, flipped off the coffee grinder, and headed out for the back door.
And when she’d opened it, it was not Avery, but Caridad Lacanilao standing there.
“That was not cool!” she huffs to Avery, still crossing her arms. “You were supposed to—I didn’t know—I wasn’t expecting—”
“Calm down!” He smirks at her. It’s infuriating. “I thought you’d be glad to know that it was her idea.”
She sputters. “Her—what?”
“Yeah. I’d already boxed up the pastries and stuff, and I was about to head out when she told me to start getting the baguettes in the oven. Which she usually does herself. So she definitely just wanted to go flirt with you.” He wiggles his eyebrows playfully.
Of course he does. This is all just hilarious to him.
“Well she didn’t,” Ellinor grumbles. “Flirt with me, I mean.”
“Come on, Ell—”
“I’m serious! There was no flirting! I opened the fucking door and she was like ‘hi,’ and I said ‘oh.’” She throws her hands up in the air. “Literally just ‘oh.’ Like an idiot. I couldn’t make this up.”
“It’s not like you guys haven’t had normal conversations before.” Sensing that she’s no longer...hostile...he kicks his shoes off and hangs his jacket on the hook by the door.
Shr shrugs. “I know. But it takes...so long to get to that point. I always say something dumb or awkward. Like ‘oh.’ And she’s probably like, ‘I have so many better things I could be doing than talking to this loser’—”
“She would never think that.”
“How would you know?”
“Because I work with her?” he says. “And she’s always asking how you’re doing or talking about how she might go across the street for a latte if the shop gets slow.”
Ellinor perks up. “Really?”
“Yes!” Avery says, rolling his eyes. “Seriously. You guys are so weird about this whole thing, I don’t know why you can’t just see that the other is interested—”
“She’s not interested!” she insists. “I mean, not like...not like that. I’m sure she’s just like, ‘oh, that’s Ellinor, my employees sister, who I could definitely see as a friend but nothing more than’—”
“Stop putting words in her mouth, Ell.” He sighs, flopping down on the couch. “You’re just speculating because you’re afraid.”
“I’m not afraid. I saw her this morning.”
“Yeah, and from the little bit that you told me, it seems like that went just great.”
She doesn’t even bother telling him about how she could barely get her words straight when she offered Caridad a coffee, or about how she literally dropped two bagels on the floor by accident stocking the pastry case while said coffee was brewing and Caridad was standing idly waiting for it.
“It was. Fine.”
“Look at me.”
“No,” she mumbles, but he won’t relent.
“Ell. Look me in the eye and tell me you’re really okay with just seeing Caridad a couple times a week at the cafe or bakery or maybe when all three of us hang out.”
She tilts her head back and forth indecisively, and Avery sighs.
“One of you has to make a move eventually.”
“Well it’s not going to be me,” she says decisively, tossing her phone onto the coffee table before heading into the bathroom.
Deep breaths, Ellinor, she thinks, closing the door behind her. It’s not like her to get so flustered about anything, really, but Caridad was another story. She splashes some water on her face and pats a towel over her cheeks, taking one final deep breath before emerging.
“You good?” Avery snorts, and she rolls her eyes at him.
“I’m fine.” She sits down next to him on the sofa, picking up her phone from where she’d left it only to find a text waiting for her on her lock screen.
Caridad
Yeah, that would be cool
She almost drops her phone from how quickly she tries to swipe it open. “What the…” Inside is a text from her that was very obviously not written by her.
Hi Caridad! Avery told me you’re taking the day off tomorrow. I’m off too! Would you want to get boba together?
“Avery,” she breathes.
“Mmhmmmm?”
“What have you done?”
“You said you weren’t going to make a move. So I made a move for you.”
“Avery—”
“I know you’re off tomorrow. And I know you didn’t have any plans. But now you do!”
“I’m going to kill you,” she says, her heart racing. “I’m going to—oh my god, I have to tell her I can’t. This was a mistake.”
“But she already said yes!”
Oh my god. She said yes.
She groans and falls back into the couch cushions. “Fuck. You’re right.”
***
She stands outside the boba shop, shifting her weight from foot to foot. This was a bad idea. Caridad isn’t even here yet. Granted, she made sure to get to the boba shop exactly 15 minutes early. She even woke up early for this. She’d agreed to meet with Caridad at 1, but she woke up at 10, showered, changed into ripped denim shorts with tights and about eight different flannel shirts before deciding on a red one. And she put on makeup for this. And a matching red knit beanie. And all of that only took until 11. Which means she had two extra hours to pace around her apartment anxiously before heading out.
She’d hung out with Caridad alone only two times before this, and both were months ago. The first time was one night when they’d happened to close the cafe and bakery at the same time and ran into each other in the street, and Caridad mentioned that she was going to go get ramen, and Ellinor had stupidly said oh, me too! She was not, in fact, going to go get ramen after work. Or at least, she wasn’t until her brain decided to make up something stupid just to be able to hang out with Caridad. But Caridad had said oh, we could um. Go together. So it worked. In a way. And they got ramen. And it was awkward at first, but after a few glasses of sake it was decidedly less awkward, and they ended up staying and chatting until the restaurant was closing. The other time, they’d planned to go see a movie with Avery only for Avery to bail at the last minute. Ellinor hadn’t thought much of it then (she sure does now), but she and Caridad had gone together anyway. And it was nice. And their fingers had brushed together every time they’d reached for popcorn at the same time, which was...several times. And after the movie, they’d walked the long way home. Neither of them suggested it. But their feet seemed to carry them blocks away from the more direct route to their neighborhood, and they’d chatted together in the quiet street-lit sidewalks until finally it seemed like the only place left to go was home.
But anyway. Both of those times were months ago, and even though Ellinor had been convinced that they could’ve had something then, she’s all but lost hope by now. And yet thanks to Avery, here she was, standing outside the boba shop looking like an idiot waiting for Caridad.
That’s if she doesn’t end up deciding this is a bad idea.
“Ellinor?”
She turns sharply only to find her standing there, and for a second, she doesn’t even know what to say.
These days, if she sees her at all, it’s usually in her standard baker’s jacket and black pants, black hair tied back into a bun or ponytail. Not this time. Today, Caridad is dressed in ripped gray skinny jeans and an off-the-shoulder red top, her hair loose and long and flowing past her bare shoulders. Oh good, she wore makeup too, Ellinor thinks, noting Caridad’s cherry red lipstick and smokey eye combination. It would’ve been weird if only I wore… She shakes her head. Stop being stupid. Say something.
“Hey,” she says nervously. “Uh. Our red shirts match.”
Caridad flashes an awkward smile. “Ha. Yeah. They do.”
You fucking idiot, Ellinor, she thinks.
They stare at each other until another customer steps out of the boba shop and walks right between them out onto the sidewalk.
“Oh. Right.” Ellinor opens the door for them. “Uh. After you.”
Caridad steps inside, her heeled boots clicking gently on the floor. “What are you going to get?” she asks her, and Ellinor blushes.
“Oolong.”
“Oh! Yeah. Me too.”
Ellinor’s eyes widen.
“It’s my favorite,” Caridad clarifies.
“Yeah, me too.”
She manages to order her tea without making too much of an embarrassment of herself, and they make their way out of the shop.
“Do you want to go to the park?” Caridad asks quickly. “I mean, unless you wanted to go somewhere else. I don’t care.”
“No! The park is—the park would be nice.”
With her heels on, Caridad is only just taller than Ellinor. She glances at her shyly as they walk together. We’re probably the same height, she figures, because from where she stands, she can see the way her cheeks redden in the early spring cold, and the way her eyelashes flutter when she catches Ellinor looking at her.
Oops.
The park is surprisingly quiet when they arrive. They sip their boba in silence, walking around the gardens and the fountains that had only just thawed from the winter weather.
“Wait…” Ellinor says suddenly, looking around.
Caridad stops. “What is it?”
“Nothing. I mean. This is where...isn’t this where we walked around after the movies, that one time?”
If Caridad’s face was flushed before, it’s really red now. “Oh,” she says hurriedly. “Yeah. I guess so.”
I guess so.
Ellinor’s heart sinks. It probably doesn’t matter as much to her. “Yeah, I only just remembered. That was. Uh. Fun.”
“Yeah,” Caridad mumbles. “It was.”
Despite her discouragement, Avery’s voice rings in her ears. One of you has to make a move eventually.
Ugh. He’s right, even if she wouldn’t admit it to his face. And if she doesn’t say something now, she’ll probably regret it.
Definitely regret it.
“Hey, Caridad.”
Her eyes snap up from where she’d been looking at her boots, meeting Ellinor’s gaze. “Yeah?”
“What...um. What happened, after that night?” She swallows. “I mean, I thought we’d had a really nice time. I’d hoped that maybe we could’ve hung out again sometime, but I—well, maybe it’s me, I was too scared to ask you, but I did think it was fun and I sort of wished we’d hung out again but you never said anything so I sort of assumed you probably did want to but I did want to and...oh fuck, now I’m babbling, and—”
“You did?” Caridad asks in a small voice.
“Did what?” Ellinor squeaks.
“You—you did want to hang out with me again?”
“W-well—yeah! I mean. Yeah, I did. I just didn’t think you were interested because you’re so. Cool. And stuff. But I thought...that we’d really had fun that night. And—”
“So did I.”
“You...oh.” Ellinor says nervously. “You did.”
“Yeah. It was really nice.”
Ellinor takes a deep breath, considering this. “So, did you...suggest coming to the park on purpose?”
Caridad looks back downward. “Yeah.”
Oh.
She looks up. “Caridad.”
“Yes?”
Clutching her boba in her hands, she takes a single step closer to her, tilts her head up, and kisses her cheek.
“Oh,” Caridad whispers, and she looks into Ellinor’s eyes, blushing, surprised, but smiling. Just a little.
But a little is enough.
The next time Ellinor leans in, she meets her lips in a full kiss, soft and careful and tasting like sweetened oolong tea. Ellinor wonders if her red lipstick will rub off on her. She hopes it does.
“That was…” she breathes when Caridad pulls away. “Nice.”
Caridad smiles, bringing the straw from her boba to her mouth. “It was nice.”

—CHAPTER 6: collapse
pairing: Poe Dameron x reader (modern au!)
previous part | next part | masterlist
a/n: i just want to say that this was hard to get through to write but everything is up from here. I’ve tagged some warnings, just know that it’s darker than my normal writing and sorry for the wait
He couldn’t sleep again. The rain was back.
He wasn’t sure if that was the exact reason why, the heavy guilt sitting on his conscious giving the rain a run for its money, but he was also sure that whatever it was didn’t matter much. He couldn’t sleep.
Pulling away from your naked body strewn over him was one of the hardest things he ever had to do, but you had to work in the morning, the last thing he wanted was to keep you up.
So now he was back awake at 4 a.m., back in his kitchen, and he was beating himself up again and again… It was an all too familiar position.
But there was no phone in hand, there was no calling you for reprieve from the onslaught of memories beginning to scream in the back of his mind when you were in his bed. You were meant to be the solution to all of this and yet here he was, in the same place he was before he got you back.
No better. Possibly worse.
The rain was echoing against the fire escape right outside the kitchen window and the screams and shouts were echoing in his head. He could see the windshield wipers fighting through the torrential downpour, he swore he could even smell the smoke from the cigarette in the back seat—
“Poe?”
His head snapped up from where he held it in his hands to find you, still half-asleep, lingering in the doorway from the bedroom to the kitchen.
That was right. He was here, in his kitchen, and you were here.
He wasn’t over there. There was no Humvee.
He was here. He was here with you.
It didn’t matter how many times he repeated it in his head, it wasn’t working. His breathing was picking up to a near rapid pace before he even realized it—
“Poe?” your tone was much more cautious this time as you began crossing the kitchen floor.
You were wearing one of his shirts, the one you had pulled off of him just a few hours ago as he attacked your throat with kisses… It was an effortlessly good look on you. You used to say you liked them because they smelled like him. He liked when he found one you had recently worn and it smelled like you.
He liked you. He liked you a lot. The smell of you, the look of you, all of you.
He liked you and he loved you. Those were two different things and he did them both.
He liked the way your coffee made the apartment smell every morning, he liked that the smell of it alone made him want to get out of bed. He liked how smart you were, you read medical journals and spent all day doing things at work that he could barely quantify yet you never made anyone you were in conversation feel dumb in comparison. Though he often did, but that was more his fault than yours. He liked that you rewatched the same shows over and over, even If you knew it all by heart, because you didn’t have the time to get invested in a new show.
He liked you for all the little things. He liked that it made him always want to be around you. He liked that he never got tired of you.
But the love he felt for you was different. You were the only one he ever wanted to tell about his good news, you were the first person he wanted to see every morning, you were his person. Through everything he had gone through, you had been by his side the whole time, except for… well that was all his fault anyways. Besides, you were never really gone, and you were back now, that was what mattered.
You were back now.
You were in his kitchen—he was in his kitchen. The shouting he could hear wasn’t real. The memories ripping through his head were only memories.
He wasn’t in the Humvee; he was here with you.
What had he been saying again?
“Poe?” You were in front of him now, brows furrowed inwards as you were still cautious with every step.
That was right. He loved you. He was in love with you. You were his person and he loved you.
So why was he going to ruin it all again? Why was he lying to you?
Why couldn’t he just get better?
Why was it all so loud in his head? Why was the rain against the windshield all he could see?
You took a final few slow steps towards him and grabbed his hands before he could bring them to rub over and hide his face. “Poe, what’s going on?”
You had said it specifically that morning in the shower, you said that you weren’t sure you could do it all over again if he wasn’t going to put in the work. It was the only thing you asked for. You didn’t even want birthday presents, you didn’t want whipped cream on any dessert… He was losing his train of thought again.
That had been happening more and more recently. His focus wasn’t what it used to be and maybe that was all his fault too. Maybe the meetings would make it better, maybe not, he wouldn’t know until he made it into one of them would he?
The soft tips of your fingers managed their way into his hair again.
When the two of you were first dating, his hair had been much shorter, buzzed from his most recent tour. He wondered how he caught you for the long-run so early on when clearly it was the curls you were obsessed with—
“Poe, you have to talk to me…”
The shouting was getting clearer, sounding like it was behind him and not in his mind. It took every ounce of will and rational mind he had left not to look over his shoulder back to the living room to search for the source. He knew it was in his head. It was in his head. It was a memory…
He opened his mouth, he wanted to talk to you, so where were the words?
Did he deserve to say anything to you? He sure as hell didn’t deserve you, he knew that for sure.
Your grip on his head grew slightly tighter, almost like you were trying to ground yourself to him. It wasn’t working.
The rain was getting louder. Every drop sending a spurt of tension through his chest until it was getting harder to breathe.
He needed to tell you and he couldn’t talk.
“I love you.”
He knew that. Of course he knew that. That was the problem. You loved him, you’d do anything for him, and he was lying to you.
Trading grips, he was holding your hand now instead of you holding his, and he was holding it much tighter than you were holding his.
“I love you.” He repeated back to you, the only words he could manage.
“Poe, I don’t know what’s happening, but you have to talk to me—”
He shook his head, finding a second of silent reprieve as he shifted his stare from your feet to your lips. “Nothing is happening.”
Another lie. What the hell was he thinking? He was just digging the hole deeper and eventually he wasn’t going to be able to get out.
But this time he could tell it wasn’t passing over your head.
“I… I don’t know, I just couldn’t sleep.” He sighed, gripping your hand now like his life depended on it. “Don’t worry about it.”
You didn’t move, you didn’t waver in the slightest. “I’m going to set up an appointment with someone I work with—”
“No, you don’t have to—” He shook his head, trying to stand up straighter, to feign some confidence but you gave an exhausted sigh in response.
“Poe, I know you’re not going to the meetings.”
He snapped his eyes back to yours, he hadn’t even realized that he had been avoiding your stare until he couldn’t look anywhere else. You didn’t even look disappointed, frankly, you looked like you knew all along.
It wasn’t sickness anymore. It was emptiness, cold and dark, like a hole in his chest. Ironically, he knew the sensation all too well.
“I have been—” What was he doing? Doubling down?
Now it was a sigh of disappointment that escaped your lips. “I ran into Oddy the other day, in the E.R…”
He scoffed, using the hand he wasn’t using to hold yours to wipe the beginning of tears from his eyes. Of course Oddy would need to go to the E.R., all the guys you used to work with went to see you there when the VA doctors were falling behind. Of course he knew that. Of course…
He tried again to make his voice work but he couldn’t, all he could do was stare.
“I wasn’t checking up on you, but we got to talking and he said he hadn’t seen you since your last tour—"
He pulled his hand away from yours, he didn’t know why, but he could feel his skin stinging. And it wasn’t because he was mad at you. How could he be? He was mad at himself; he always was but this was just worse. It was so much worse.
“Poe—”
“I didn’t—I don’t know, I just—I didn’t want to—” Was he really crying now? Get a hold of yourself—
He fought in a war… He flew fighter jets… He couldn’t even make out a sentence, tears coating his face…
“Poe—” You sounded sad, was that his fault?
Of course it was his fault. This was all his fault.
“Please don’t leave me again…” He choked out, bringing both hands back to his face.
“Oh, baby no.” You reached out for him again, but he pulled away, leaning back into the counter, practically flinching back from your touch now. “Poe no—”
“I couldn’t get out of the car.” He mustered, still forcing distance between the two of you. He needed to catch his breath, he couldn’t. “I couldn’t—"
“Can I?” You extended your hands towards him again, waiting for an acknowledgement but he couldn’t manage one, so you held back. But after a few seconds of heaving breaths, he finally reached back for your touch.
He actually collapsed into it.
Both of his arms fell over your shoulders and before he even realized it, his knees felt weak and you were holding him up while he sobbed into your hair.
“I didn’t mean to lie—”
Even your chuckle was somber. “Poe I don’t care about that—”
“I lied to you—”
“I don’t care about that, baby.” You sighed, rubbing at his back as he held tight to you. “It’s okay—”
All he could see was the rain—
No. He had to break out of it, he couldn’t break down right now, he couldn’t do it…
It was a torrential downpour, had been for the past few days and showed no signs of letting up.
No. He gripped tighter to you, but it didn’t make a difference now, it was a slope slicked with torrential rain of his memories and the tears streaming from his eyes… No. He had to break free of it, he had been down this path before and it was something that took months to come back from after…
It was hitting him like a crashing wave smothering him into the sand. Every time he thought he could get back up and out of it, it crashed over him again, pummeling him into the sand.
He was drowning in it.
“We’ll be coming up on the camp soon, Dameron, how’s it going back there?” Snap’s voice echoed over the radio from the front Humvee.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen this much rain—” He went to respond but the man in the passenger seat quickly interrupted, grabbing the radio back.
“I have, in your mother’s panties—”
He looked away for one second to join his squad in laughter. Then the whole ground shook and rumbled, the Humvee flipping over on itself.
He didn’t know then that the front car had driven over an IED, setting off a whole barrier of explosives in the road. He didn’t know then that when he looked away that he would never look up to see the front Humvee again.
All he knew was that everything hurt, his whole squad was shouting in one ear and the other ear was ringing. All he knew was that he was strapped into a Humvee that was tipped on his side and that the man in the passenger seat wasn’t moving.
All he knew was that they were in compromised territory and he could hear gun fire.
He pulled himself out in the rain, falling into the mud alongside his squadron. The gunfire still echoed but he had no clue where it was coming from.
All he knew was that when he was able to make out the shape of the front Humvee through the rain, that it was upside down and on fire.
He never thought he’d ever see a fire burning through the rain.
He also never thought he’d hold his best friend in his arms as he took his last breath, but those were two images permanently burned into his skull.
“Snap!” He futilely shouted as he pulled his friend from the wreckage, two more of his squadron members helping to grab the other soldiers.
The fire caught the sleeve of his uniform, but he squelched it out quickly and tried to get a pulse from Snap’s neck. There was one but it was barely there.
Someone called that they were radioing for help, someone ordered the shooting to stop, everybody else’s shouting was incomprehensible… it was all just shouting.
Snap wasn’t shouting. He could barely manage a whisper. His lips were just smacking together—
“Snap!” Poe shook him with bleeding knuckles, he couldn’t find a singular injury to staunch, they were all over… “Please Snap, hold on.”
The rain kept pouring. He took his last breath in his arms.
And it was all he could see. The dead look in his eyes, it was there almost every time he heard the rain.
It was still raining. He was still sobbing. He couldn’t catch his breath…
Was he on the floor?
He could feel the cool tile beneath him but he didn’t remeber collapsing. You must have lowered him to the floor...
He blinked through the tears, trying to calm himself down still, and found you kneeling by his side, two fingers pressed to his neck the same way he had pressed his to Snap’s neck… Your other hand was continually brushing through his hair, long and languid stroke back through his curls.
It should have been soothing, but nothing was right now.
“I—”
“Shh, Poe, it’s okay…”
Your hand reached up from his neck to wipe away his tears as his head leaned back against the cabinets in the counter.
“Don’t—” His sucked in a heavy breath. “Please don’t leave me…”
From your grip on his hair, you pulled his head forward into your chest and cradled him there as his hands found their way back to you.
“Poe, I’m not going to leave you.” You pressed a kiss to his hair. “I’m not going to leave you.”
The rain was still there. But he had you to hold him for now.
That had to do, for now.

Your writing is really good!! I was hoping to see if you can write an Aron Piper imagine where he & the reader are on a break but they’re both on elite & one night they all go out to club & he starts to get jealous that a guy is trying to get her attention but she doesn’t allow him to because she still has feelings for Aron & in the end they somehow end up back together? If you can somehow involve his song ‘Sigo’ in it that would be great! Wooo that was kinda a lot but I hope I make sense lmao
Warnings: fluff and bad language.

 Mina hands me a cup of coffee and I rub my forehead tired. We are on set and we just filmed a night scene at the club.  I smooth the soles of my silver dress and I take a sip from my drink. The flavored coffee wakes me up a little from my sleepiness. I see Arón smoking with Miguel and Itzan beside the trailer. It’s so hard to see him every day after we decided to have a break in our relationship.
It’s been a month from the moment when we split. I remember our fight every day. It was on a late night when we got home from set. I was so sleepy and I tired after a long day on set. I fell quickly asleep, but at 3 in the morning some loud laughs from the living room. Sometimes Arón loves to stay all night awake, listening to music or watching movies. He always is telling me that he thinks better at night. But when I got up so tired at 3 a.m. and I found him in the living room with 3 of his friends and a girl who I didn’t know I got so pissed. Not because he is awake at that hour, but he didn’t care about me and he was drunk and drugged. “What the fuck, Arón? It’s three in the morning and tomorrow we should be on set at 8.” He looked dizzy at me and a friend of his comment. “He can do what he wants, he didn’t need a chick to command his life.” I looked furious at him and I raised my finger to him. “Shut your month off, get your friends and get out of this apartment.” I yelled and they looked very amused, but they get out. I turned around to my boyfriend. “What’s in your mind? You didn’t care about your body and me. It’s late and tomorrow…” Arón interrupts me. “Give me a break, (Y/N). When we first met and we started to date, you were so fun, but now? Now you are like an old lady. You are right for me.” “Oh, you need a break Piper? Then we should have a break.” I yelled and I went back in the bedroom to get a part of my stuff.
 “You two are better?” Mina’s voice it takes me out of my thinking state. “Me and Arón? We barely speak to each other.” I respond I looked in her calm eyes. Me and Mina are best friends and we have similar personalities. We like same things and we are having a calm and chill temperament. “You know that you can stay with me, I have enough space for both of us.” She speaks and I nodded. “I know, but I want to find a place of my own.” I mumbled and I put my head on her shoulder. “I miss him. But he ignores me and it’s doesn’t look he wants to get back together.” I speak on a crying voice and she sighs. “You should speak with him, to clarify the situation. And, I wanted to ask you something. Are you coming to his launching party?” I nodded. His launching party for his song ‘SIGO’. I was thinking not to go at the party, but he wrote the song for me and I feeling very grateful for this. “Yeah, I’m coming if he doesn’t cut me from the guest list.” I smiled softly and Mina giggles.
“Mina, Omar, Arón and (Y/N) come here and let’s film the last scene for today. I got up and coming closer to Omar and Arón. My boyfriend perfume got me so dizzy. “(Y/N), you look so tired.” Omar smiled cute to me and I responded with a light smile. “I don’t rest that much in the last time.” I replied and I feel Arón strenuously. I can’t look at him right now because I know that I’m gonna cry.
 I got back at the hotel and fell on the bed. It’s 1 in the morning and I’m looking like a desperate person at the phone. Should I call him or should I text him? My life is so fucked up in this moment. I move my hands stressfully on my head. I call him, he should be awake right now. After the second tone a girly voice respond. “Hello?” I frowned my brows. “I think I call a wrong number.” I wanted to decline but the girl stopped me. “Arón is in shower right now, what’s your name?” I decline and I collapsed back in the sheets. FUCK FUCK FUCK. He already forgot me and I think that I interrupt something. I’m so happy because tomorrow is my free day, cause after this call I wouldn’t sleep well.
At 10 when I woke up with a huge headache, I called Mina to go shopping together. All night I was staring at walls and thinking at him being with another woman. This thought is making me very sad. We had 3 years together and I appreciate him so much, support him and love him like I never loved someone before.
Every morning he used to wake me up with a kiss and some coffee. We lunched always together and we visited so many places. I can’t open my phone gallery and looking at the photos because I will cry like a baby. “Come back to Earth, (Y/N).” Mina moves her hands in front of my face. She is showing me a red velvet dress and a black lace jumpsuit. “I think those are perfect for you, for tonight.” Mina moves her brows instigator. “I’m not going to impress someone. I want something simple, like a potato bag.” She laughs loud and pinch my arm, becoming serious. “Beautiful, you just need to impress me, fuck everybody else.” She cursed and put in my arms the two outfits which she chose for me. After long decisions I decided to the velvet dress. We went to my hotel and got ready together.
Now I’m in front of the club and I don’t want to get inside. I told Mina to go first, then I will come too. But now I don’t know what to do. First, I can say that he is inside with the girl from last night and secondly, he maybe doesn’t want me here. But, after all, what I can lose? I lose him and that’s enough for me to drink everything I get to forget him. Almost all our friends are here and they know that we are on a break or we were before he decided for both of us. Everybody is looking weird at me and I’m feeling so dumb being here. “Hello, beautiful.” Omar hugged me and my body feels so warm right now. He is also my best friend and we spend so much time together. “Hey. You look good.” I said and he rolled his eyes. “You outdo me.” “Thanks, but I’m feeling awful. Everyone is staring at me like I am a piece of garbage in a room full of roses.” I cried and he giggled. ”Maybe a piece of art in a room full of garbage. You are like that because that girl answered to you last night?” I looked shocked at him. “Mina told you, doesn’t she?” “Yup, she informed me. You should talk with Arón and if it’s over don’t get mad on yourself, you want everything good for that cabrón.” I nodded and walked with Omar to the bar.
“4 shots.” I yelled to the barman then I looked to my best friend. “What do you want, it’s on my account.”
After almost 6 shots, 1 bottle of champagne and now some wine I feeling very drunk. And, of course, he is fucking here with his new girlfriend. I wanted to go to him and slap his nice face and beat the girl beside him, but a solid guy stopped me. “I can see a beautiful woman in front of me. Please, let me get you a place at my table.” He smirks and he knows that I’m drunk as fuck. “Fuck you, muchaco.” I said and he catches my arm in his big hand. “Not that quick, princesa. You look very good and I watched you for the last two hours, you are alone here.” “And? I’m happy alone.” I wanted to go but he tightens his hand around me. I’m too dizzy to fight with this gorilla.
“I have a boyfriend.” I said loud and when I said it the music stops. Some people, including Arón are turning around to see me.  Our glances were intersected and I’m feeling like I’m going to collapse in any second. It’s too much for me. “If you have a boyfriend, then, where is he?” I still looking into Arón eyes and I can see regret and pain. “We are over, but I still love him.” Everybody is looking at us, waiting to continue my speech but I run away. I destroy his party, he was right. I’m not perfect for him. In the cab back to the hotel I cried so much and the driver told me that I should not pay for the ride.
In my room I sit on the floor crying, my phone called continue and the battery died. I think at a moment I fell asleep and I woke up when I heard some beating in my door. I got up slowly and the beating is getting strong. “I’m coming” I yelled desperate to make the person stop. “What?” I said when I open the door and I found my boyfriend in front of me. “Baby.” I love when he calls me like this. I moved myself to let him in and I closed the door. “I’m sorry for your launching party, it was so important to you.” “Shut up, (Y/N), I’m not here for your apologizes. I’m came to tell me again your last sentence.” I stayed a little bit to think but my head is feeling like is going to explode in any second. “I’m drunk, Arón. If you came here to make me feel bad then you succeed.” He caught my face in his hands and rubbed my cheeks with his fingers. Arón smiled softly and that’s made me blush.
“I love you.” I mumbled and he grinned. “I love you too, mi amor.” His ‘mi amor’ hits different. I smiled and I pinched my arm. “I’m not dreaming.” I said and he giggles. “Me neither. (Y/N), I’m sorry. You are everything for me, my love. I don’t know why I was so stupid to let you go. I love you too much.” He kisses softly my cheek and my forehead. “But that girl who answer to your phone. Isn’t she your new girlfriend?” “How? My cousin? Oh, she prefers girls, my love and this sounds very incestuous when I think at me and her together.” I giggled at his remark and I put my arm around his body in a tight hug. “And who the hell was that guy?” he is jealous right now. “A fuckboy, don’t be jealous, I don’t know him.” I kissed his miffed lips and he responds me fast. “Now you are coming back home?” I nodded and we fell on the bed.
He starts to sing for me his song.
“Sigo matándome, yeh
Sigo buscando las maneras de tenerte y no sufrirte
Sigo llamándola, eh”
What Arón doesn’t know is that he is my home. And everywhere I will go and he will be with me, I would be home.

Everyday Life in a RV
Another beautiful day in Florida!  I ABSOLUTELY understand now why snow birds make their way to Florida to spend the winter.  The weather here is second to none!  While we arrived in Florida a little early and caught the end of summer temperatures (in November) with slightly high temperatures and incredibly high humidity, the weather has since leveled out and is practically perfect every day.
When Mark and I planned this venture, we vacillated as to whether or not we would tow a vehicle.  We knew we “wanted” a vehicle and having one would be more convenient.  However, we ended up settling on getting fold-able electric bikes (e-bikes) and to be inconvenienced by having to run our errands in the RV between stops or on our e-bikes.  That has turned out humorous on more than one occasion.
As an example, we had issues with the drain in the RV shower and worked on that problem tirelessly.  Let me rephrase, Mark worked on that problem tirelessly.  My “work” involved paying for my very first “pay” shower at a park in Oklahoma where I had to choose between three showers.  One had a tarantula guarding the inside of the front door.  Nope.  The second had a wolf spider guarding the shower floor.  Nopity, nope, NOPE!   The third was just right.  More accurately stated, it didn’t involve any intimidating spiders or snakes so I took it.  I don’t remember how much it cost, but I would have paid serious money for a decent shower that didn’t involve creatures that could kill me.
Getting back to the shower repair -- Mark got parts at three different hardware stores that didn’t end up fitting/working.  So, we eventually fixed the RV in the Home Depot parking lot so we could return parts as necessary.  It was hot as bejesus that day, but Mark didn’t complain.  He took advantage of the return policy and got our shower back up and in running condition before we left the parking lot.  While I don’t mind doing my part, I’d be happy as to not have to pay for another shower anytime soon.  But let the record reflect, I’m a giver.
Between RV stop locations, we usually plan a grocery store venture and/or a Costco run.  While our fridge isn’t Costco worthy by any stretch of the imagination, we do buy Costco dog food for Riley and Duke (and red wine need not be refrigerated).  This particular stop we are at for a full month and while I’m not out of red wine (yet), we did need a few necessities.
On Sunday after church service, Mark and I ventured over to the local Winn-Dixie (grocery store) on our e-bikes, which is approximately three miles from our RV for some necessities.  We both take our backpacks to carry groceries, but on this particular venture we needed a few more things than would fit in both of our backpacks.  For example, we NEEDED the half ham that was on sale for only $10 (love those post-Thanksgiving sales)!!  Also, diet Coke was on sale, buy two 12-packs get one for free!  Our backpacks were full of salad, coffee creamer and other necessities, so I convinced Mark it wouldn’t be a problem to bungee cord anything else down to the back rack on our bikes.  He was a willing participant as long as he could get his diet Coke.  This is a picture of Mark with the half of a ham and one pack of diet Coke.  While this picture doesn’t represent the “Clampett look” I was sporting with the other two diet coke 12-packs AND groceries, it does give you an idea of how humorous such a simple thing as grocery shopping can be.
Tumblr media
Much of the rest of any given day is like everyone else’s, EXCEPT looking for stuff.  We have such a small amount of space and we kept very few things.  However, nothing is more frustrating than knowing you have something and in 31 feet of space, you can’t find it.  Many times I’ll be looking for something, like the dog’s nail clippers.  I know I have one ... but where in the 42 bazillion little containers, cabinets or under storage compartments it is, I have no clue.  I’ve lost these dumb dog nail clipper thingies TWICE now.  I don’t know what is up with that, but I’ve noticed that on a rig this size, that tends to happen.  You know it exists.  You know it’s in your possession...somewhere.  You’ve seen it in the last few months, weeks and sometimes days ... but when it’s necessary to find it, it’s no where to be found.  Grrrr.  I’m blaming this problem on the size of the RV and praying it’s not my old age kicking into high gear.
Learning how to live in 31 feet of space has been interesting, fun and challenging.  I love our little space in life.  It’s portable and I can take it to any place I’d like.  I can enjoy the outdoors in any state, any weather, any place I desire.  That’s pretty cool.  It’s also easy to clean and doesn’t take too long to clean.  It’s such a little space, cleaning is done in a breeze.  With two dogs though, cleaning needs to be done more often than one would hope (definitely an argument for getting rid of the dogs, but we all know that is never going to happen).
I also get to spend a lot of time with my husband.  I like him.  I love him.  I enjoy his company.  I find him hysterical even in the every day humdrum of life.  So I enjoy having him around.  We also have our subtle ways of getting our own alone time.  It may involve a walk, a jog, a bike ride alone or sometimes its as simple as putting in ear buds as a signal that “I don’t want to interact”.  We are both independent, so just taking on a project is usually a signal to the other that we are “good” on our own.  None the less, it’s been a great experience for us both and we still enjoy each others company.
The other thing I get asked about quite frequently is the bathroom situation.  Yes, there is only one bathroom.  Its not a Jack and Jill bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub and a separate closet with a toilet.  It is a dry toilet with a small sink and stand-up shower, all in one small space - meaning one person can stand between the sink, toilet and shower.  There is a spray wand next to the toilet to fill the bowl with water and a foot pedal that is used for flushing.  The sink is small, like a doll house small, but large enough for the task of washing hands and face, and brushing teeth.  The shower is plenty big.  I’m 5 foot almost 2 inches and I can stand up in it.  Just kidding - my 6 foot husband can stand up in it, so it’s definitely functional (now that the drain has been fixed).  There is a vent in the ceiling with a push button exhaust fan and the toilet is like a regular toilet, except for needing to fill it with water yourself.  That’s the bathroom situation.  Nothing glamorous and generally no secrets.
My husband and I don’t keep the same hours.  Meaning, it’s not all that uncommon for him to get up between 3:30-5:00 a.m..  At the same time, I’ll look at the clock, do a quick calculation in my head and then a happy dance over the 4 hours I still get to sleep.  When my husband gets up, he’s really respectful of the fact that most normal people are still asleep, including his wife and two dogs.  So he quietly relocates to the living room/dining room area and does his thing until the sun comes up.  We have levelers on the RV, so his movement is negligible.
As soon as I stir, or when Mark gets stir crazy, he’ll take the dogs for a walk.  There is nothing subtle about that process as much as Mark tries to keep it contained.  Our 70 lb. black Labrador retriever, Duke, moves about the cabin like a bull in a china shop.  Between his wagging tail slapping against the cabinets and his incessant yawning, even the neighbors are ready for him to WALK ALREADY!  Riley, our 23 lb. Japanese Spitz isn’t all that cooperative either.  She gets a psychotic episode and is afraid to walk across the vinyl floor.  Yes, she’ll step out on it, and step back on her little piece of carpet, then back out on the floor and back on the carpet.  From underneath the comforter all I hear is Mark loudly whispering “Riley, come!” and the tap-tap-tap of Riley’s toenails on the vinyl floor several times until she drums up enough courage to make a break for it and hurriedly jogs across the four feet of vinyl flooring between her little piece of carpet and the door.  As my friend Wendy says, she was perfect until I got her.
Tumblr media
Everyday life in an RV is pretty much like everyone else’s everyday life,  with a few slight nuances.  Mark and I could have made different choices so as to not have to bungee cord our groceries to the back of bikes, live in a home that we sleep in and drive, live in such a small space, and/or waited until the dogs were gone to start this venture.  But for us we talked about the choices we were making in advance and collectively agreed while some things would be inconvenient, we would give it a whirl and see what we thought.  If we found we hated it down the road, we’d make a change.  So far, we don’t hate anything about it.  Quite this opposite.  We are super glad we took this journey and in the way we did.
As I mentioned previously, we are transitioning to a “newer” journey.  We found the boat that we would like to live on and have an accepted offer on that boat.  Because there are still many steps in the process (it’s sooooooo different from buying a house) and too many things could go wrong that it would be premature for me to talk about the specifics of the boat.  However, in my next blog I’ll talk about the boat purchasing process and hopefully we’ll be far enough along in the process that I can reveal a thing or two about what I hope to be our new home.  Stay tuned....
Until we meet again,
Sherri (and by contractual obligation, Mark)

Life Writes Its Own Stories
Chapter 8! (And on AO3, of course.)
I came back from my trip a day early, so here we go again. I should be back to posting a chapter every other day from now to the end.
Amy woke to a face full of sunshine.
She squinted her eyes closed and groaned, burying her face in her pillow. Several thoughts came to her, one right after another: Her pillow smelled weird, her pillow felt weird, and she had not once in the three years she’d lived in her apartment woken up with the sun in her face. Amy blinked her eyes open and rolled onto her back, and the night washed over her again, every lovely bit of it. She smiled up at the ceiling over Jake’s bed and then turned and smiled at the man himself.
He was asleep, curled up on his side facing her. His hair was a fluffy mess. One hand was tucked under his pillow, the other folded into a loose fist. Amy remembered falling asleep with his arm around her waist, holding her to him, but they must have separated in the night and now she was happy to indulge in watching over him.
She’d noticed from the moment they met that he was attractive, but over all of their shared meals and late-night outings, she’d never really taken stock of him: his full lips, his sharply defined cheekbones that were so often disguised by a smile or laugh, the dimple in his chin and the single, perfect curl that dipped over his forehead. His face, normally so expressive, was smooth in sleep and she thought about tracing the line of his brow, the ridge of his nose, the curve of his jaw. She thought about kissing his eyelids and waking him up.
When Jake had kissed her that first time a few days ago, she’d been momentarily overpowered by a physical attraction to him – and that was all she had thought it was, a gut-deep desire for a man who was undeniably hot. So she’d pushed him away, because kissing (that would likely to lead to much more than kissing) was absolutely not okay between reporters and their sources. Intimacy of any sort led to bias and poor decision making; it turned journalism into a trade industry.
Amy’s guilt and shame had been so profound that night that she swore she’d been marked in some way, as though even strangers would see her failure written on her face. It occurred to her that they had practically been dating for weeks -- that even before he kissed her, before she kissed him back, she had crossed a line. She felt awful for herself, for having betrayed her own moral code, and she felt awful for Jake, whom she had obviously misled.
So it was a gift that the next several days flew by in a crush of anxiety and exhilaration as she finally put her article to bed. She had no time to dwell on her personal mistakes when she was arguing over headlines with Terry and Charles and writing and rewriting every photo caption and fact-checking every detail, from the numbers in her bar charts to the hyperlinks and hashtags they would use on social media. On Saturday she convinced Charles to print out page proofs so she could do one last edit of the printed version of her story, and she suggested word choice and grammar revisions until finally, when they were on the verge of what was sure to be an embarrassing slap-fight over an Oxford comma, Charles shoved her out the front doors and told her she needed to relax and let someone wash her hair.
“I have just the person in mind,” he called after her, as Amy stomped down the block.
She’d slept fitfully that night, waking up just about every hour to check her phone. At daybreak, a post from the Bulletin Twitter account went out. Her favorite brother sent her a congratulatory email that Amy read over a breakfast of plain toast because she couldn’t stomach anything else. By noon, the story was viral (at least locally – it was never going to make The Daily Show, Amy kept reminding herself).
When the mayor announced on Twitter that he was personally looking into the jail situation and linked to Amy’s story, she was stunned and elated. And she was blindsided by a wave of sadness: She missed Jake.
She missed his smile and the way his eyes went soft when she was talking about something personal. She missed the way he tugged at his hair when he was looking over the documents she’d asked him to read for her. She missed his forearms when he rolled up his sleeves and the way his one eyebrow quirked when he laughed.
She even missed the gummy worms he consumed by the handful when they were meeting at a bar and he got snacky while translating penal codes, and she missed the ketchup and orange soda stains on her documents, and she missed having to rearrange all of her papers when she got home because he never paid attention to her tabs.
She just missed him. And she missed sharing this success with him.
Later in the day, when Gina had texted that the newsroom was getting drinks and it was definitely not because of her story but because they were all bored, Amy had been sitting at her laptop with a dozen tabs open on her browser for essays on journalism ethics and dating sources. She’d joined them for drinks because it seemed pathetic not to, and she’d been honestly touched by their support. But she’d also been miserable, because all she could think was that she’d messed up everything. Her life was amazing, and she’d screwed it all up.
Then Jake had texted. Just seeing his dumb code name appear on her screen had made her heart leap into her throat, and she’d known then that she couldn’t let him go. She had to at least see him, and try.
Now, she really did have it all. And lying in his bed, with the sun in her face and the smell of him in her (his) pillow, she felt content to just be. So she stared at him for a while, until the sun had shifted enough that it was blocked by the partly drawn curtains, and it dawned on her – so to speak – that she couldn’t remember if she’d set her alarm and she had no idea what time it was. She panicked for just a moment and quickly rolled over, hand slapping on the bedside table for her phone. She squinted at it – her contact lenses felt glued to her eyeballs – and sighed when she saw that she was only five minutes past her alarm.
Of course, she was going to need to go home and shower before going into work, and she’d wanted to go in early so she could check in with Terry and Holt before heading to Manhattan for the NPR interview, and she obviously hadn’t laid out her clothes the night before or set the timer on her coffeemaker.
Amy glanced at her phone again and did some quick math and decided that if she skipped coffee and didn’t wash her hair – it was just radio, it wasn’t like she had to look great – and planned her outfit on the way to her apartment then she could save six minutes, which still wasn’t ideal but she could make it work.
But then she glanced back at Jake, and the sudden pulse of affection for him pushed everything else aside. She could be a little late. She kissed his forehead, just beneath the curl, and each of his eyelids, and she covered his hand with her own as he blinked his eyes open and smiled back at her.
+++
Amy ended up texting Terry to tell him she was going straight into the city for her interview and he said that was fine. She didn’t get into the newsroom until noon, and by then she was famished and caffeine-deprived and still practically vibrating with joy. Her story had been a huge success and she had kissed the man she really, really liked and she’d had sex – three times! – the night before. The fact that they hadn’t fallen asleep until nearly 3 a.m. – because: three times – wasn’t a problem. Amy felt like she might never need to sleep again.
She spent the day working on a follow-up story around the mayor’s plan to investigate the jail recordings. She also fielded several unpleasant phone calls from the head of the corrections department and his deputies, until one of them demanded a full retraction and she finally had to pass them on to Terry and Holt to deal with, which was fine by her. They both had her back, and she’d never doubted they would, but it was still nice to be supported. So nice, actually, that by the end of the day, as Terry was editing her story, she started feeling guilty again.
“I have to tell you something,” Amy said, or rather blurted, when Terry had finished editing. It was 6 p.m. and it had been a pretty slow day so the newsroom was mostly cleared out; only Hitchcock was left, and he had his head pillowed on his arms at his desk and was snoring.
“Terry doesn’t love the sound of that,” he said, narrowing his eyes at her. “Oh man, are you quitting? You’re going to the Times already? I thought we’d get at least another year out of you.”
“No!” Amy said, then, “Wait, what? You think I’ll be at the Times in a year?”
“Uh-”
“Wow.” Amy tried to think of a more appropriate response. “That’s- wow.”
She sort of spaced out for a moment, until Terry cleared his throat and said, “You had something to tell me?”
“Oh, right. I did.” Amy shook herself out of her Times fantasy and reminded herself of the task at hand. Immediately, nerves made her stomach flutter and her palms sweat.
She’d considered waiting a while to tell her bosses about Jake, just long enough for them to actually start dating and see where things were headed. But that was her fear speaking, and she knew she had to do what was right. She swallowed hard, working up the courage to tell Terry. She really liked her job, and she was pretty sure they weren’t going to fire her but they were almost definitely going to make her change beats, which was going to be disappointing. But she had to be up front with them.
“Santiago-”
“I’m boinking my source!”
It came out as a sort of squeak-yell and Amy was glad no one else was around to hear her.
“Um, I mean, I’m dating him. Well, I guess not technically dating yet, but sleeping with him. You know, like-” She mashed her hands together in a movement that definitely didn’t connote sex, unless it was really bad sex.
“Yeah, I think I’ve got it,” Terry said, sounding both perplexed and slightly amused. “Well, this is...something that we need to talk to Holt about.”
Terry stood up and peered around her at Holt’s office.
“Now?” Amy felt suddenly like she might faint.
“It’s as good a time as any,” Terry said. He gently took Amy’s elbow and steered her across the newsroom. “He’s thrilled with your article and the response it’s gotten.”
“He is?” Amy said, pride pushing aside her nerves for a moment. “I mean, I knew he was pleased, but thrilled? Did he say that? Or are you just inferring? Because if he said that-”
“I can just tell,” Terry said. He paused outside Holt’s open office door. “Just be honest with him. And don’t say ‘boinking.’”
“Roger that.”
Terry tapped on the door before leading Amy inside. He asked if Holt was busy, and Holt said, “I’m always busy,” but he put down his pencil and invited them to sit.
Somehow, Amy pulled herself together. She explained, calmly, that she had developed feelings for someone who used to be a source, and that they had decided to start dating. She said that she had already informed him that she would no longer be able to use him as a source, and that if he told her anything newsworthy she would pass it on to one of her colleagues. She expressed that she wanted to keep covering the police beat, but she would understand if they didn’t trust her in that position anymore, and she would happily accept any new assignment they offered. When she was done, she folded her hands in her lap and squared her shoulders and forced herself not to think about what would happen if they fired her.
“I see,” Holt said, with no inflection that Amy could discern. “Well, it would seem as though you’ve taken the necessary precautions and insulated yourself from potential bias as well as possible. I see no reason you cannot remain on the police beat, for now. But note, I will be paying close attention, as will Terry, and if one of us believes you are compromised we will take action.”
Amy blinked, stunned that she was going to be allowed to keep covering cops. She smiled and nodded sharply, then stood up and stuck out her hand. Holt looked at her outstretched hand for a moment and then smiled a little and shook it. His grip was firm, and so was hers.
“I promise I won’t let you down, sir,” Amy said.
She turned and strode out of his office. She was just outside the door when she heard Holt say, “She knows she doesn’t have to call me ‘sir,’ right?”
“I don’t think so,” said Terry.
+++
Jake was pleased for Amy that her conversation about dating a cop had gone over so well with her bosses. It clearly helped ease her mind to have their blessing – or at least their not-firing – and that was great, he wanted her to be as relaxed and stress-free and not-guilty as possible when it came to being with him.
But there was no universe in which he was planning to similarly come out to the Vulture, or just about anyone else in the NYPD. He’d probably tell Rosa at some point – maybe, eventually; most likely after she figured it out on her own and forced it out of him – and it wasn’t like he expected to sneak around with Amy for the foreseeable future. He just would rather keep it between them (and Amy’s bosses) for the moment.
He was still in awe that there even was a them.
Jake knew he didn’t have much of a tolerance for wide-swinging emotions. In fact, his grasp on his own emotional health was at times staggeringly bad. He did a decent job keeping his feelings under control day to day – denial and compartmentalization were his go-to coping mechanisms and he excelled at both (thanks, Roger Peralta) – but when strong emotions hit, they hit hard.
Once, during a department-mandated therapy session after a lengthy undercover stint, a counselor had told Jake that he’d benefit from developing a toolbox of decompressing strategies for when things got rough. For some reason Jake had found the suggestion hilarious, imagining a literal toolbox filled with hammers and wrenches and pliers. When he’d mentioned it to Rosa, she’d said that bashing things with tools was exactly what she did when she was angry – that or glass-blowing – and Jake had actually bought a toolbox online that day. It was currently collecting dust in the back of his sneaker closet.
So yeah, he wasn’t great with emotions. And the past few days had involved a dizzying array of them. After the depressing lows that had followed their first kiss, the pure elation of their second kiss had been almost overwhelming. Jake had felt lighter and happier the next day than he could ever remember. He’d also felt exhausted, though it was a satisfied, dreamy, peaceful kind of fatigue.
They’d seen each other again that night, and every night after for the rest of the week, and though they’d had sex they hadn’t actually slept together again. They’d ordered takeout and turned on a movie and basically made out (and more) on his or her sofa until one of them yawned and they agreed it was late and they both had to get up early. It was kind of perfect.
Amy was kind of perfect.
But by Friday Jake had decided they needed a proper date, and so he chose a restaurant and made a reservation and texted Amy that he’d pick her up at 7. Then he and Rosa got called to a dead body, and a suspect in an unrelated robbery case they’d been working for two weeks had literally tripped over their crime scene, and by 6 Jake was covered in blood and subway muck and still had a report to finish. He texted Amy to tell her he’d meet her at the restaurant.
Which was how he arrived at their first official date almost half an hour late, hair still damp from the shower, fumbling the knot of his necktie as he pushed through the crowded foyer to the host station.
“What happened to your face?” Amy said, when he got to her side.
“What?”
Amy brushed her fingers over her own cheek and Jake did the same, wincing when he touched the small cut. “Oh, that.”
The host came then and glared a lot, but he took them to a table despite Jake’s tardiness. It was an intimate restaurant, quiet and dark with small tables clustered close together. The host handed them menus with a sneer that Jake had to believe was not in the employee handbook.
“Sorry I’m late,” Jake said, once they were seated.
Amy smiled back at him and shrugged. “I get the feeling it’s something I’m going to get used to.”
“You look nice,” he said. “I like the dress.”
“It’s not a dress, it’s a skirt and blouse,” Amy said, and then grimaced. “But, thank you. You look nice too. I’ve never seen you in a tie before.”
Jake ducked his head and ran a hand self-consciously over the wrinkled necktie. He’d only had time for about a two-minute shower at the precinct before coming straight to the restaurant. He was just lucky he always kept a spare tie and a semi-clean shirt shoved in the back of his desk for emergency court dates.
“So what happened today?” Amy gestured again to his face.
“It’s actually an insane story.”
“Wait!” Amy said, holding up a hand. “Like, the kind of insane I’d want to write an article about? Or insane like, your job is disgusting and/or hilarious but not fit for print?”
“Definitely the latter,” Jake said.
“Go on, then.” Amy leaned toward him, resting her chin in her hand.
“So Rosa and I got called to a dead body on the subway tracks near Bergen. But when we get there, the dead body’s actually a dog, and it’s been turned inside-out. Like, nose to tail. And the smell-”
Jake paused because Amy was shooting him a wide-eyed warning glare and darting her eyes back and forth. He looked to either side and saw that their dining neighbors were staring at him with looks of utter horror. The woman to his left set her utensils on the table and shoved her plate away.
“Uh, I’ll tell you the rest later,” Jake said.
“I think that would be best.”
They exchanged embarrassed smiles, and Jake said, “Well, what about you? How was your day?”
“Pretty good, actually,” Amy said. “It’s nice being back on the regular police beat after all that time on the jail story. Like today, I got to do this story on a severed head-”
“Oh! The one they found in the fish tank?”
“Yes!” Amy said. “You know about that case? It’s so crazy.”
“So crazy!” Jake said. “You should see the photos.”
Jake was reaching for his cell phone in his jacket pocket when he spotted the same lady on his left staring at him with murder in her eyes. He glanced back at Amy, who was getting the same death glare from a different diner.
“Maybe later,” Amy said weakly.
They turned to their menus then, each fairly mortified. After they’d ordered, Jake grasped for a more appropriate topic, and finally asked Amy to tell him more about some of her coworkers.
“I’m always going on about the Vulture,” he said. “What’s your boss like?”
“Oh god, nothing like Pembroke,” Amy said. “Terry, he’s my regular editor, he’s really gentle and supportive but he knows how to get the best out of you. And Holt is incredible. He’s so smart and ethical and detail-oriented, and he has impeccable news judgment. He’s the most impressive man I’ve ever met.”
“So, what you’re saying is I should be jealous of your editor.” Jake smirked at her.
Amy turned red and said, “No! He’s great but he’s not- I mean, I love Holt, but I’m not in love with him.”
Jake fully laughed, and it occurred to him that his maybe-girlfriend was not exactly suave and that he maybe found that adorable.
Amy waited out his laughter with only a mild look of annoyance, then asked Jake to tell her more about Rosa. “Police partnerships must be so intense. I bet you know everything about each other.”
“I know her first and last name and that she lives somewhere in Brooklyn,” Jake said. He hesitated and thought that over. “Probably.”
“Oh,” Amy said, face falling. The waiter arrived then with their dinner salads, and Amy leaned toward him and said, in a low voice, “Jake, are we bad at this?”
He didn’t respond right away. Things were undeniably weird. And he supposed some of that was to be expected, given that they’d always had a kind of invisible barrier between them when they’d met in public – a professional line they couldn’t cross. He snapped his fingers then, startling Amy into dropping her fork.
“I’ve got it,” he said. “I think things were easy before because we were always surrounded by all your notes and binders, and they were like, I don’t know, a fortress keeping out the weird.”
“Okay,” Amy said, slowly. “So you need me to bring binders next time? Because I can do that.”
“No,” Jake said, shaking his head. “Not binders – liquor.”
“What?”
“Conversation grease,” he said, lifting a hand to get their waiter’s attention. “Four shots of-” He glanced at Amy, who shrugged. “Your medium-est shelf whiskey.”
+++
They stumbled back to Amy’s place from the restaurant, both of them a pleasant sort of tipsy that was warm and giggly and affectionate, Jake’s arm slung around Amy’s shoulders, her fingers tucked into the back of his belt. When she let them inside, Jake backed her into the wall beside her front door and kissed her, clumsy and teasing. She fisted his tie in one hand to pull him closer and felt him smile against her lips.
“You,” she said, tipping her head back to speak, “are an amazing detective.”
He quirked an eyebrow at her. “I know,” he said, “but maybe be more specific?”
“The way you figured out why things were weird and then fixed it,” Amy said, and she cupped a hand over the back of his neck and pulled him toward her again, lips brushing against his. “That was brilliant.”
“Dear lord, you are good at this,” Jake said.
Then they stopped talking for a while. Jake took her hand and led them back to her bedroom, where he gently pushed her onto the bed and sprawled out beside her, and they undressed each other slowly and had sex on top of the bedspread, their bodies illuminated by the light coming from the hallway and the streetlamps outside her windows. After, Jake pulled the quilt she kept folded at the end of the bed up over them, and they laid facing each other, arms tucked under their heads.
“You never told me where you got this,” Amy said, brushing her fingertips against the shallow cut on his cheek.
He wrapped his hand around hers and kissed her fingers, one at a time, before answering.
“This robbery suspect Rosa and I had been looking for, he showed up at the dog-body crime scene, like out of nowhere. I think he was just going to get the train. He freaked out when he saw us and took off down the subway tracks, we pursued, and when I took him down we sort of scuffled and I guess he got in a hit or two.” Jake shrugged. “I didn’t even know he’d hit me until we got back on the platform and Rosa said something. I was way more focused on the fact that I was covered in subway slime.”
Amy shuddered at the thought. “I hope you’re up to date on your vaccines. I bet you can get diseases you’ve never even heard of from subway slime.”
“Or, if you want to look on the bright side, maybe I could become a slime monster. Oh! Like the Swamp Thing, only the Subway Thing.” Jake paused, a faraway look in his eyes. “That’d be so dope.”
“Didn’t you ever think it was lame that the Swamp Thing was just a ‘thing,’” Amy said. “Like, they couldn’t come up with a better description?”
“I had never thought that before, but I love the way your mind works,” Jake said. Amy smiled, and he smiled back and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
They grew quiet, and Jake traced patterns across her shoulder and down her arm with his fingers, whorls and lines that made her shiver. Amy studied his face and marveled at the closeness they seemed to have developed, despite knowing not a lot about one another.
Amy had been in relationships, two or three serious ones, but they’d always just fizzled out, whatever small spark that got them started snuffed at the smallest huff of irritation. What Amy felt for Jake, after only knowing him for a few weeks, already seemed more vibrant, more durable.
“Did I ever tell you my dad was a cop?” Amy said, soft in the darkness.
Jake’s fingers paused on her skin, and he laid his palm flat on her shoulder instead. “No, you’ve never mentioned him.”
“He retired a few years ago. Victor Santiago.”
Jake’s eyes went wide, and his hand squeezed around her bicep. “Captain Victor Santiago? He’s your dad?”
Amy beamed and nodded. “You know him?”
“I know of him. He’s a legend, Amy,” Jake said. “Oh wait, wow, so Manny and Jesus are your brothers?”
“They’re cops too, yes,” Amy said. “And Tony.”
“Yeah, Tony. He’s kind of a dick.” Jake grimaced. “Sorry.”
“No, don’t be. He is a dick.”
Jake chuckled, and shook his head slowly. “Wow, I can’t believe you’re one of those Santiagos. It never even occurred to me.”
“I guess there’s a lot we don’t know about each other,” Amy said.
Jake caught her eye, and he moved his hand to the back of her head and pulled her toward him, his mouth close enough that she could feel his warm breath on her lips.
“Tell me everything,” he said.
Amy kissed him, hard enough to leave him breathless. “Later,” she said, and rolled on top of him.

A strange woman Bucky is sure he knows but can’t fully recognize, picks him up after the fall of SHIELD. She claims to be friends with Steve and that she is here to help him. He can’t help but keep wondering where he knows her from; it’s definitely not through Steve Rogers. Can she help him be the man he wants to be or will the all too familiar struggles of being a super human overcome him?
Pairing: Bucky Barnes X OC Rowan O’Connor Word Count: 3,619 Rating: M Masterlist Chapter 5 Chapter 7 Taglist: @xmarveled @spidey-the-killer-queen
Rowan woke up sweating; normal for nights she stayed at Stark Tower. She really didn’t know why she stayed here. Especially tonight. She could have stayed at the Compound upstate, but Natasha and Steve were there. She was aching to get back to Japan and she knew if Nat was in the vicinity she wouldn’t be able to keep her anxiousness hidden well enough.
She couldn’t imagine how Bucky was dealing with her just up and leaving, even though she had left Warren’s contact info with him. But Natasha was already on her case and she didn’t need the red-head and Steve annoying the piss out of her anymore. She had to keep a semi-normal point of contact with them. That meant checking in every few weeks, like she had been for the past five years.
She couldn’t say with absolute truth that she hated it. She really did consider Natasha her closest friend, and she enjoyed the company of everyone else at the Tower; Tony the most. He understood her in ways most of the others couldn’t.
Natasha had demons about her past, but she dealt with them alone. Rowan could go to her about trivial things, and knew about all her other deep, dark secrets, but in the end Nat never had the grace of dealing with the things Rowan really needed to talk about. The ex-assassin tried too hard to be heartfelt; the exact opposite of what Rowan needed it seemed.
A couple years ago when Steve first started working for SHIELD, Rowan was consulting with them pretty consistently. Tony concocted a “Stark Super-Lit Serum” for Steve and herself to allow them to get drunk. Naturally, Rowan goaded Steve into trying it one night when they found themselves in the empty common room at three in the morning.
Lots of secrets and insecurities were spoken of that night; only half of which were remembered. Other than that, Rowan didn’t consider herself a gossipy, teenage girl type woman. There was one person she trusted with her darkest secrets and insecurities. For a while it was Warren, but after she ran away from her feelings, their current relationship at best was friends-with-benefits. As much as she cringed to say it out loud, that one person she so deeply trusted was Anthony Stark.
Why? She wasn’t exactly sure. She was guessing it was from all the trauma. Yes, she shared similar spy-training trauma with Natasha. As well as similar war-time trauma with Steve. She had even started sharing some memories with Bucky. But there was something about sharing semi-similar trauma with people who will just listen and give sometimes-shitty, honest-with-heartfelt-intention advice.
Rowan walked out onto the helipad of Stark Tower, where Tony liked to show off his giant, neon, energy-efficient logo for Stark Industries. It was foggy and a little too nippy for Rowan’s attire, with a slight spring drizzle frizzing up her curls. But she didn’t need perfect night vision to see who she was headed towards. She had been sure he’d be out here. Knew he’d be alone. Pepper was probably still working on something. Rowan really admired that woman for her work ethic.
“Ant.” The assassin sat down softly, letting her lower legs fall over the edge of the hundred story building.
“You know I hate that name, and if you didn’t look the way you do I’d definitely fire you for calling me that.” Tony could feel the warmth of Rowan’s body, her legging-clad knee touching his own, shoulder resting at the same angle.
He briefly wondered what her bare skin would feel like, scientifically speaking of course; with the super soldier serum coursing through her veins. Was it as hot as it felt through her clothes? It was different than Steve’s - technically speaking. He’d have to ask her about running some tests.
“You wish I worked for you,” Rowan said with a light chuckle. Tony smirked as he looked up at the dark sky, trying to spot a star.
“You know Romania is the best spot for star-gazing. Late spring, early summer they get the best meteor showers. Scientists say its coincidence from the Big Bang or some hog-wash, but all of us intellectuals know it’s from the space aliens celebrating the moon landing.”
“Yeah, the moon landing was late June.”
“I know, Tony.” The brunette let his chin rest against his chest, accepting that he should probably retain this little snippet of conversation he and the super-powered woman just had.
Rowan had her eyes set on the World Trade Center Memorial building, brightly lit even in the middle of the city that never slept. She wanted to tell Tony of her plans that involved Bucky, but knew now wasn’t the time. She figured the one clue was enough for now. Tony was an intelligent man.
She needed to talk though. If she didn’t talk about something, she’d end up talking about Bucky, and she knew Tony didn’t want to know about the one thing Steve and her kept from him about The Winter Soldier. That wasn’t her place she felt. So she talked about the other thing on her mind that no one else knew.
“Nine eleven was an inside job.”
“No shit, Sherlock.” Tony spoke immediately, but the statement was half-hearted. Rowan didn’t speak. Tony let his russet eyes find her own jade-shaded. Rowan’s gaze fell to her lap. Tony knew from the silence this was going to be another therapy session and that the questions about testing her furnace-like warmth would have to wait.
He was totally here for it; even if he didn’t get to vent about anything, knowing that someone like Rowan felt comfortable enough to speak about her own highly-confidential past gave him a special sense of self-worth. As dumb as that sounded. He had no real rebuttal for her silence, so he said the first thing that came to mind.
“Shit, kid.”
“I’m older than you.” The two shared a strained smile. Tony kept quiet, waiting for Rowan to find her words. He knew there was a lot about the Sector that SHIELD didn’t know about. He doubted SHIELD would ever know every little thing about The Sector. He didn’t blame Rowan for burning every paper copy referring to her captors.
Tony steered his mind clear of the jump drive containing anything that was left concerning The Sector. Rowan trusted him and only him to keep that information safe. Even though he knew no one could read his mind, he still tried to refrain from thinking of the lone drive sitting in a lock box in his bedside table drawer. He kept quiet, handing the half empty whiskey bottle to Rowan. She only smiled ruefully and rested her head on his shoulder.
“I wish that could get me drunk.”
“I got some Super-Lit Serum in the cabinet if you want some.” Tony started to get up, pausing when Rowan put a hand on his thigh.
“No need Stark. I just need to talk a bit. Nothing too sinister.”
“Nine eleven sounds pretty sinister to me kid.” He was slurring his words a tad, but if Rowan noticed, she didn’t let on… He was thankful.
“I’m literally thirty five years older than you Tony.” The man ignored the age comment. He cleared his throat and rested his own head against Rowans.
“How’d you do it?” Rowan could honestly say, at least in her own mind, that at that moment, she loved Anthony Edward Stark. No bullshit trying to reassure her that she didn’t know what she was doing at the time. No chick-flick moments.
“It was all remote controlled. The men who seemed to be taking over the planes were all AI machines. The plans for the AI systems were stolen from a young recruit within SHIELD. They weren’t quite complete at the time I found them but the lad was on the right track. Just a few refined algorithms and some newer tech from The Sector and we had self-sacrificing dummies that were all controlled from a little flat in Galway.”
“Why?”
“Cause Garrett told me to.” Rowan really wasn’t sure of the political motivation that The Sector would gain from devastating one of the United States’ most populated cities. All she could guess was that The Sector just wanted to see the US grow stronger and closer while the rest of the world was blamed for things they never knew were happening until it was too late. She was put back in the cryo chamber at eleven a.m. on September eleventh two thousand and one. She had been congratulated for her success. “Success” she still got nauseous over even thirteen years later.
Tony raised his head and turned towards Rowan, resting his left hand on her shoulder. Rowan appreciated the gesture. It kept her dominant left hand free to grab her glock that was strapped to her thigh above her leggings if needed.
“That sucks Rowan. A lot of people died that day. A lot of lives changed.” Tony paused, not sure what to say next. He thought about what business his own company had been in at the time of nine eleven. They made a lot of money off that war… Money he wasn’t proud of.
“You can’t change any of that now though. You know it was wrong and there’s nothing to do that’ll change anything, so you gotta just… Let it go.”
“How am I supposed to let it go Tony? Just like that? I killed almost three thousand people. Innocent people. You know… I try to make up stories in my head. About how somehow, none of them were innocent. But you know it’s impossible. I still have nightmares about it.” Rowan lifted her head from Tony’s shoulder only to place it in her hands, resting her elbows on her knees.
She looked down the hundred story drop, wondering if she jumped now, how long the fall would be and how long her body would try to fight to survive the landing before she died. Tony shook his head and pulled her back by her shoulder. He dragged her a few feet back from the ledge and faced them away from the Memorial Tower. He embraced her almost awkwardly, not sure if a hug was what the assassin needed at the moment. Her skin was hot to the touch, burning almost fever-like.
“Because that’s the only thing you can do besides what you’re already doing, kid.” Rowan let the nickname slide this time. She was past jokes now. This conversation got real too quickly for her liking.
“Trying to erase my red ledger by helping the World’s Mightiest Heroes? Right.” Rowan’s features stayed dark. That might help Natasha feel better but Rowan knew she could never make up for what she had done.
“Well yes, you being my sidekick is definitely helping you out. But I’m talking more specifically about the ex-HYDRA Asset you’re harboring in Romania.” Rowan relaxed a bit.
“He’s actually in Nagano right now. I plan to be in Romania at the end of June.” Tony leaned back and threw a smile towards Rowan. She returned the smile, visibly relaxing into Tony. She was relieved the man picked up her breadcrumb.
“Did you think it’d take me that long to figure out where you guys would be?”
“I’d never underestimate you Stark.” The sky was starting to lighten off to the east. Rowan welcomed the pre-dawn tint of the horizon. One more day down, one more day closer to returning to Bucky. It’d only been a month but she had started to enjoy her routine with the super soldier.
“I’ll send a jump drive with you when you head out. It’ll have all the info you need for my condo there. You’re welcome to it while you need it.” Rowan didn’t smile right away.
She didn’t want to take Tony’s hand-outs, but she also didn’t want to go to many of her safe houses in Europe. Natasha knew where a lot of them were and the ones she didn’t know about, she’d find eventually. They could utilize Tony’s condo indefinitely in theory. Steve wouldn’t think to look at any of Tony’s hundreds of properties all over the world.
Rowan was torn. At that moment she wanted to tell Tony about Bucky killing his parents. He deserved to know. But she wasn’t sure if she were the right person to tell him. That file was one that was not in with a lot of the online documents. A few people knew about that date and what really happened.
 But if it wasn’t her place to tell him, whose was it? Fury’s? Steve’s? Natasha’s? Should she tell Pepper and have her disclose the information? No; she didn’t need to drag Pepper into this mess. But if Rowan told Tony, she wasn’t sure what would happen with them. She considered Tony a good friend, and she was helping the man who murdered his parents; whether said man remembered or not.
Best case scenario he wouldn’t help her out anymore. Worst case scenario… She thought at first it’d be him telling Steve what her plans were before realizing Tony would probably just seek revenge on Bucky and kill him, if he could.
Fuck it. She’d hidden from Tony’s prying eyes before, she could do it again.
“Tony, there’s something else you should know…” Rowan paused, trying to gather her strength for what she was about to say. She hadn’t been this nervous in a long time. Tony looked her way. Rowan noticed his relaxed posture, ready to continue the weird conversation they’d been having as if talking about the weather. His dark brown eyes were inviting her to finish.
“There you two are! What are you talking about out here?” Pepper stepped out of the sliding glass door and walked over to where Tony and Rowan were sat on the small helipad. The clicking of her heels stopped just short of the two figures facing each other sitting Indian style on the concrete.
“Rowan was just telling me some of her deepest, darkest secrets from her evil days.” Both Pepper and Rowan rolled their eyes. Pepper wasn’t sure how else to respond; she knew Tony was telling the truth.
“Well, on a possibly lighter note, the video conference is dialed up for Natasha, Steve, and Sam from the Compound.” Rowan hesitated while Tony stood up and stretched. He kissed Pepper on the cheek and wrapped an arm around her waist as the couple looked down towards Rowan.
She had closed her eyes and was breathing in deeply. She was so not ready to talk to anyone anymore. She looked toward the edge of the helipad one more time before exhaling dramatically and heaving herself up. The conversation with Tony about his parents would have to wait until after the video conference.
-TTA-
“Happy birthday, by the way. Since you didn’t come to your own birthday party. Tony threw it just for you.” Rowan rolled her eyes towards the big screen projector showing Natasha, Steve, and Sam’s faces.
“Thanks.” Rowan rolled her eyes playfully towards the trio in front of her as she slapped Tony on the shoulder.
“I didn’t know it was your birthday, gorgeous. When was it? How old are you now, twenty-three?” Sam’s deep voice slid easily through the speakers, making Rowan smile despite herself.
“It was April second, and I’m eighty-four.” Sam’s eyes widened for a moment before he composed himself. Natasha rolled her eyes and Steve looked between the two with raised eyebrows.
“Damn girl, you lookin’ fine for eighty-four. You’ll have to show me where the fountain of youth is.”
“I’d love to darling, but I can’t.”
“Why’s that?”
“I blew it up.” Rowan’s smile faded from her lips and her demeanor darkened. Sam cleared his throat and Steve took over the conversation.
“Right, so. Have you got any news on Bucky’s whereabouts?” Rowan kept her eyes on Steve’s troubled blue ones.
“No, though I’ve got a couple people caught up on the situation regarding Sergeant Barnes. They’ll update me if he slips up somewhere. I’ll send you their files and contact info.” Steve stared at her hard, waiting for her to show any sign of a lie. She just had to know where he was. Rowan kept Steve’s gaze until he blinked.
She was a master liar and manipulator, but she could honestly say she didn’t technically know Bucky’s exact location at that moment. She also did have a couple people caught up on the situation… and they would inform her if he popped up on any type of surveillance system anywhere in the world. Tony and a friend over at MI6, who she was scheduled to meet up with after she rendezvoused with Bucky back in Japan. See, she didn’t always lie.
“Right. Well… Thanks Rowan, I really appreciate it.”
“No problem Rogers. So…” Rowan let a smile form on her lips.
“Tony said I get to kill some people?” Natasha rolled her eyes. Sam covered a laugh and Steve just looked downright uncomfortable. He didn’t know if he’d ever get used to how Rowan acted sometimes. Tony stepped in front of Rowan to bring up some photocopied papers on the screens.
The two-way cameras closed out just as Rowan caught Natasha’s gaze. Rowan tried to keep her composure but she could tell by Nat’s bright green eyes the red head knew she was withholding information from the group.
“We think Rumlow was spotted at Hotel Mahayid.” Rowan whipped her head in Tony’s direction.
“What do you mean you ‘think’ you spotted him? I thought he was dead.” Rowan moved closer to the touch screen and enlarged a picture of a man being carried into a decrepit building on the outskirts of what looked to be a desert city. It was dated two weeks after the fall of SHIELD. Tony stepped back and let Natasha take over.
“We say ‘think’ because, as you can tell from what pictures we do have, the guys face is so disfigured we can’t really be sure.” Natasha’s thick voice came through the ongoing conference call. Rowan could barely hear anything over the blood rushing to her ears as Natasha clicked a few buttons on her end of the computer.
“So wait. That guy who was a double agent for HYDRA and SHIELD is still alive? Don’t these mother fuckers know how to just stay dead? And what is Hotel Mahayid? Sounds Arabic.” Sam’s distinct voice filled the room. Rowan smirked at his question about people staying dead. She liked him despite the obnoxious flirting.
“Hotel Mahayid is a hotel in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It’s more or less a hotel for anyone who knows it’s there. But it’s not advertised to the public. Spies and assassins are the most frequent visitors, but you’ll see drug lords and the like there as well.
“It’s a completely neutral ground for anyone. No weapons, no grudges, no maiming, no killing. Even threats aren’t taken kindly. You need a membership to even enter the property.” Rowan recalled what she knew about Hotel Mahayid to the others.
Recalling fondly of some good times she’d had there. She wished desperately that her and Bucky could hole up there for a bit but knew that too many enemies would spill about them being there once they left the property. It wasn’t worth it.
“Okaaaay. Why don’t we just set up shop outside the front doors, he really can’t hide in there forever can he?”
“Good thinking Sam, but unfortunately that’s also against one of their many rules. You can’t wait at the doors, or even within two miles of the Hotel. They operate completely under a neutral treaty with everyone.” Natasha furrowed her brows as she explained to Sam the difficulties of dealing with the Hotel.
It was nice for a spy or someone of the like when in a pinch. But she wasn’t sure if they could use any of the rules to the team’s advantage in this situation. Rowan cut in, trying to let Steve and Sam know the difficulty they would have if they tried to break the treaty.
“The Hotel has the best security system besides Stark Technology. While I’ve no doubt Tony’ll be able to hack it and follow what goes on in there remotely, I know that once Rumlow leaves we won’t be able to do a damn thing until he is out of that two mile mark. The Hotel has snipers at the ready above and below ground keeping a watchful eye on their property within the treaty.”
“You keep saying treaty. I personally don’t remember signing anything.” Steve’s sarcastic quip would have earned pinch to his bicep if Rowan had been in his presence. She briefly wondered if she and Steve would have gotten along well back when he wasn’t Captain America as well. She liked the sarcastic, cocky side of Steve. He didn’t show it too often around her.
“It’s an unspoken treaty. Everyone knows the rules. If you break them, you die. That’s it. No government agency publicly acknowledges that the Hotel even exists, but a lot of agents and officers use it. It has a state-of-the-art hospital in it. It’s been around since the twenties. It’s pretty much impenetrable. If we’re gonna pull this off, we need to do it right. I can’t go in there, I’d be recognized by Rumlow. I think we all would, except for Sammy boy.” Rowan finished her sentence with a smirk towards the ex pilot. He clapped his hands together and nodded his head.
“Alright, alright, alright let’s do this then.”

Question: If you're taking yoi prompts, have you ever written/would you consider writing a sick Otabek? Figured you like him a lot since he's your icon. Plus it's always refreshing to have sickfic content for characters other than the mains.
Hey thanks so much for the prompt! I do love him, he is my precious son. I’ve never thought about an Otabek sickfic but I decided to try it! I find Otabek’s character a bit hard to pin down but I hope I did him justice.
Also, there’s a bit of Otayuri in this. I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about Otayuri; for me, I don’t have a strong preference about whether or not they’re romantic or platonic. So I did write about Yurio here, but really you can read it however you want (I kept it pretty open to interpretation I think). There is no Yurio whump here though (I doubt I could ever write whump for him, lol).
Just over 2k. Enjoy!
Otabek’s alarm went off at 6:00 a.m. Approximately two hoursafter he had finally gone to bed.
Normally, Otabek was smarter than that. When he got offersto DJ at a club on a weekday, during training season, he always turned it down(it didn’t stop people from asking, though; apparently he had quite thereputation). Why would people want a DJ for a Tuesday night, anyway? It seemedthe party  in Almaty never slept.
Lately, however, everything had been going wrong. He hadbeen falling on his jumps in practice more often than not, to the point wherehis coach was growing concerned. His short program for the coming season wasnearing competition, but his free skate was still a complete mess. Thechoreography refused to work, no matter how many times he reordered things. Itlooked like he was going to have to scrap it altogether.
Plus, he woke up a few days before with his throat feelinglike sandpaper. It sent a wave of dread through him. This was not what he needed right now.
So when a friend had reached out about playing at a club,Otabek threw caution to the wind and said yes. Nothing else was working, butmaybe a successful show would finally knock his head back into place.
For the most part, it did. He was able to forget all about triple axels and quad salchows and getting sick in the middle of trainingseason quite well with the bass pounding in his chest and the free alcohol(despite the fact that he was underage, but really, nobody cared if the DJbroke a law or two, as long as the party didn’t stop).
Of course, that had been a mere three hours ago. He had managedto get a little bit of sleep to avoid another all-nighter before practice(hiscoach had threatened him in many colourful ways the first time he tried that) but he certainly hadn’t done hisbody any favours.
His alarm was still ringing in his ears, exacerbating theheadache that hadn’t quite faded. Sitting up slowly, he put a hand to his headas the room started to spin. Am I stilldrunk?
No, he hadn’t had enough to be hungover. He may have been anidiot by going out, but he wasn’t that dumb.
Sighing, Otabek rubbed his throbbing temples. The time onhis phone said 6:10. He didn’t need to be at the rink until 8. Surely he couldsleep a little longer, at least to get rid of this headache. He decided to liedown and close his eyes for another half hour or so.
Not two minutes later, it seemed, his phone started to ring.Groaning, he pulled it off his bedside table. It was his coach. He frowned abit, but answered.
“Where areyou??” Came the annoyed voice on the phone.
“What—” Otabek took the phone away from his ear longenough to see the time: 9:28 a.m.
Shit.
Shit.
“I’m sorry,” Otabek said earnestly, wincing whenhis voice came out more like a hoarse whisper than a heartfelt apology. Hetried clearing his throat. It didn’t help. “I’ll be there in—”
“Were you outlast night?”
This stopped Otabek in his tracks.
Shiiiiit.
“I only meant to sleep a little longer,” Otabeksaid, trying not to sound like a pleading child. “I’ll make up for ittoday, I’ll stay late, I’ll pay you double for the day—”
There was a sigh on the other end of the phone. “Hang on, just stop for a second.” Thevoice was much gentler now. ”I knowyou’ve been frustrated lately, but I wish you would ask for help rather thantaking your frustrations out on cheap alcohol and loud music.“
Shame turned Otabek’s cheeks red.
”I’ll meet youhere at 10, and we’ll have a short day. Do not worry about fees. I just want tohelp you.“
Swallowing the fire in his throat, he agreed.
~~~~
Otabek woke the next morning feeling, somehow, even worsethan the day before. His sore throat had evolved into  a grating cough which no amount of water woulddispel, and his head pounded so hard it felt like a bass drum.
His second alarm went off at 6:30 (after yesterday’s fiasco,he set four alarms to make sure he got up on time). With a groan, he switchedit off and dragged himself to the shower. When he finally arrived at the rink,his coach took in his pale complexion and weak voice with a raised eyebrow, butsaid nothing.
Practice was even more grueling than normal: Otabek feltcompletely drained by the end. His body had a heavy, groggy feeling that madeit hard to concentrate, and he was blowing his nose twice as much as normal.
Usually Otabek waspretty hardy when it came to illness, but his frustration at everything hadgotten the better of him, and he was ignoring his body screaming at him to slow down! Even now, when he had to stopmidway through his routine to cover his awful sounding coughs again, he refused to take it easy.
Distantly, he heard his coach sigh.  "I thought you were hungover yesterday,but it seems you’re not well.”
Otabek stiffened at the accusation. So he wasn’t feelingwell. So he could barely breathe without coughing and the room was beginning tospin. It was nothing. He could pushthrough.
A hand appeared in Otabek’s vision, cool on his forehead.His coach tsked. Otabek just shook itoff, scowling. “I’m fine.”
“Sure you are. Now go home.”
Otabek opened his mouth to protest some more, but he wasswiftly cut off. “No, I don’t want to hear it. You’ve been a mess latelyand now you’re neglecting your health. Go home, get some rest, and come backwhen you’re better.”
Obviously Otabek didn’t look convinced, because his coachcontinued, “Or you can stay here, work yourself into the ground, and getnowhere. While infecting everyone around you. Is that what you want?”
Otabek blinked, shocked. He had been doing his best to stayaway from his rink mates and cover his mouth, but what if it wasn’t enough? Heput a hand to his forehead, embarrassed. “I’m sorry,” he said softly.
His coach sighed again. “No, I’m sorry. That was toofar.” Otabek felt the weight of his coach’s hand on his back. “I knownothing seems to be working out, but this is not the solution. You need to takecare of yourself. So go home, get some rest, and we’ll start again when you’rehealthy.”
Otabek hesitated for a moment, but nodded in the end.
It turns out his coach’s advice was sound, as he barely hadthe energy to walk back to his apartment. Dragging himself through the door andtrudging to his room, he barely had the energy to change out of his practiceclothes before collapsing into bed and promptly passing out.
His phone, however, had other ideas.
The shrill sound of his ringtone cut through his fitfulsleep, and he groaned as the pain behind his eyes spiked anew. Turning towardhis nightstand, his phone told him two things: that it had only been a fewhours since he got home, and that Yuri Plisetsky was calling.
Ah, shit. In hishalf asleep state, he had completely forgot about his agreement to have a chatwith Yuri tonight. Sighing at his own incompetence, he hit the answer button. “Hey, Yuri.”
“Whoa, you soundwrecked,” came the greeting from the other end. “Were you out last night or something?”
Why did everyone assume that because he was a DJ, he waspartying every night?
Well….he was outa few days ago. Bitterly, he supposed it was a fair assumption after all.
“No,”Otabek replied. He held the phone away from his face as he coughed harshly.“Just a bit sick.”
“Oh,”Yuri said, sounding a bit surprised. “Areyou….uh, are you ok?”
Otabek couldn’t help but laugh a bit at Yuri’s somewhatfretful tone, which turned into another wet sounding cough. “I’ll be fine.It sounds worse than it is.”
“Yeah.”Yuri sounded unsure. “Did you, like,take your temperature or anything?”
Huh, that actually wasn’t a bad idea. “Not yet,”Otabek said, “I passed out as soon as I got home from practice.”
“Shit, did I wakeyou up?” Yuri sounded upset. ”Ishould have texted you first, ugh.“
“No, no, it’s ok,” Otabek said, rubbing his tiredeyes and sitting up in bed. “I should have let you know I was going to bedearly.” It seemed everything really was going wrong. He couldn’t even be ahalf decent friend.
“It’s ok,”Yuri said.
Otabek pushed the covers back and stood, blinking rapidlywhen black spots appeared in his vision. There was silence on the phone for amoment while he tried to get his bearings, and he stumbled a bit on the way tothe bathroom. Now that he was up and moving, he desperately wanted to blow hisnose, but didn’t want Yuri to hear (and be any more grossed out than heprobably already was), so he resorted to sniffling as quietly as he could.
He didn’t want Yuri to have to wait in awkward silence whilehe looked for his thermometer (when was the last time he even used the damnthing?). Clearing his throat—wincing at the raw feeling there—he asked,“How is training going?”
This, predictably, sent Yuri into a spiraling rant about “Victor goddamn Nikiforov thinks he’sSO GREAT and that PIG worships the ground he walks on it’s absolutely pathetic—”which allowed Otabek to dig through his bathroom cabinets. Despite Yuri’s angrytone, Otabek knew he didn’t actuallymind that much. Having Katsuki around was good for him, Otabek knew, from themultitude of texts he got about how well practice was going. Otabek hadn’tknown him long, but he knew that Yuri secretly looked up to Katsuki, and thathe maybe even enjoyed the sudden burst of activity Katsuki ended up bringing tothe St. Petersburg rink.
About halfway through Yuri’s colourful rendition of howVictor was an absolute prick, Otabek finally found his thermometer. Washing itoff quickly, he stuck it in his mouth just as Yuri was asking, “Can you believe the shit I have to dealwith?!”
Otabek couldn’t help but chuckle a bit. “Soundsterrible,” he said, the words a bit muffled by the thermometer. It beepedsoon after, the sound louder than he anticipated.
“Was that yourthermometer?” Yuri asked.
"Yeah,” Otabek replied, looking at the numbers.101. He couldn’t help the frustrated noise that escaped him.
Yuri was silent for a moment. “Is it….bad?”
“No,” Otabek said honestly. It wasn’t that bad,but his fevers always tended to stick around longer than his other symptoms. Itjust meant more time away from the rink.
“Well….”Yuri started, a bit unsure. “This isgonna sound dumb, so like, don’t listen to me if it’s stupid or whatever—”
“What is it?” Otabek asked, rubbing his nose withhis palm, sniffling quietly.
“You’veseemed….frustrated, lately,” Yuri said tentatively. “Like…you’ve been doing too much. Pushingyourself too hard. That’s probably why you got sick. Maybe…..this time awaywill help?”
Otabek was silent for a moment. He thought he hadn’t beencomplaining to Yuri that much, that he’d been pushing his concerns far enoughaway that no one else would notice. Clearly, that wasn’t the case. Because Yurinoticed.
Wait. Was Yuri….worried about him?
A sigh came through the phone. ”That was stupid, I know, just forget about it.“
"No, no,” Otabek said. “You’re….probablyright, actually. I have beenfrustrated. I might just need some time. Clear my head.” At this, hisbreath began to hitch, and he pulled the phone away to sneeze twice into hiselbow.
Yuri sighed a bit. “Yousound like shit. Go back to bed, dude. I can call you when you’re better.”
“Yeah,” Otabek replied, wincing at the evenrougher sound of his voice.
“And…..text me.When you wake up. Let me know you’re still alive.”
Otabek huffed a small laugh. “I will.”
They hung up, and Otabek finally got to blow his nose. SoYuri wanted him to text when he woke up….maybe he was worried after all.Otabek felt a bit bad for worrying him.
But also, it was kind of nice that someone cared.
He trudged back to his bed, making a quick note on his phoneto buy some cold meds the next day. As he was finishing, a message from Yuricame up: it was a cat meme, with no context, of course. Was he trying to makeOtabek feel better?
Otabek smiled at the thought. Sending a quick“LOL” to Yuri, he put his phone down, crawled back under the covers,and was out within minutes.
6 years in the future:
Klaus sigh heavily letting the silence around him to be filled with noise at last. Six long years have gone by. Klaus was brought into the Ministry as the ‘Ministry’s Gifted Rookie’.  From the six years since he graduated Klaus solved a numerous of problems that have long troubled the Ministry. But no matter how many murders and dark magic cases he solved there was still something that weighted heavily on his heart. That no amount of time could take away the love that stirred within his heart and soul. It was a girl he met back in the academy he fell head over heels in love with her the moment they met.
Liz, whenever he thought of her name the depression of the day she left always came back to haunt him. In the interview, he had done exclusively for the ministry Klaus had promised her would come for her. At the time, he was in his office at the Ministry filing out cases that have been solved. Klaus could remember the day like it had just happened yesterday.
6 years go:
Klaus sat in his big comfy black leather chair. The scribbling of a moving pen was all that filled the silence. The scent of tea, ink, old books, and leather were a peaceful atmosphere for him. Klaus had sat down not too long ago to get some papers graded for his previous classes yesterday. He had walk Liz to the auditorium earlier that morning. It was the thirteenth day of her trial period. The clock had ticked along on the hours that went by. He was to absorb in his work that he didn’t even realize that he missed lunch. A several hours went by. Klaus soon his pen down. He got up to stretch and make some tea. His right hand was cramped up from all the grading. He wondered where Liz was. The sun had started to set. He told her to come back to his office if she passed or failed the trial. He soaked tea leaves in boiling water as a few minutes went by.
Klaus sat back down with his tea and continued to grade papers. An hour or so went by and multiple knocks on the old prefect door echoed through the room. He glances at the clock and quickly back down at the paper he was grading, it must be Liz he thought. “Come in.” Klaus called to the door. The old oak door let out a small creak at the hinges when opened. It was only Elias. Klaus let out a sigh. “What do you want I have a lot of papers to grade here.” Klaus said a little more-harsh than intended. Elias flinched a little in his older brother’s presence. “I-I-I have come to return the b-books I borrowed from you last w-week.” Elias stammered. “Thank you just place them on the chair over there.” Klaus motioned. “Also, have you seen Ms. Hart by chance? I told her to report straight away to my office when she finished her trial.” Klaus stated dignified. Klaus continued to grade papers waiting for Elias’ reply. “No, I haven’t but if I do I will tell her to come see you imminently.” Elias said confidentially. Klaus still didn’t glance up. “Thank you, Elias you may leave now.” Klaus finally glanced up and bid his brother goodbye and went back to his work.
It had finally grown dark out. Klaus stacked the graded papers up in a nice stack. Grabbed his clock from the back of his chair and stood up. He opened the door. The academy completely dark and still. Klaus closed the door and kissed his ring summoning his wand. He casted a spell a lock spell on the door. Only the dimmest of morons would be dumb enough to enter the prefect’s office. He set out walking for the dorms. When he got to his single room he imminently headed for the shower. Turning the water on the steam from the shower soon filled the bathroom. Klaus rid himself of his clothes. He stepped into the shower letting the hot water run through his golden hair and down his chest and stomach plain where nice scalped plane of abs laid. Klaus looked more like a gift from the gods rather than an ordinary human. After his shower, Klaus put on a pair black boxer shorts, no shirt and climbed into bed. The comforting cool feel of the sheets made him soon realize how tired he truly was and he soon fell into a deep slumber.
The next morning Klaus woke up a little later in the morning than usual. It was Saturday a day the whole academy was at rest. Klaus got up and got dressed for the day in his formal attire for weekends and such. He walked out the front door heading straight for the girl’s dormitory to see Liz. He reached the entrance of the gate and a few of the girls shrouded away from him. He walked over to a girl with her brown hair pulled back by a black ribbon. “Excuse me and you go get Liz Hart for me and tell her to hurry.” Klaus talked to the girl. She nodded her head and imminently took off. Klaus stood at the entrance for a few moments. A girl with orange hair and a yellow scrunched approached him. Her eyes puffy and red from all the crying. “I’m Amelia Nile Liz’s roommate.” She forced a small smile noticing his confusion. “Where is Liz I’m here to see her.” Klaus said a little impatient. “Liz isn’t here anymore, she failed her trial and took the 7 a.m. train home.” Amelia said trying not cry again for she missed her friend already. “What?” Were the only words Klaus could muster. His whole world shattered before his eyes. Klaus cleared his throat. “Thank you for your time Ms. Nile.” Klaus said before leaving quickly from the entrance gate of the dormitory. Klaus returned to his office in the prefect’s room and collapsed in a chair. The only girl he had feelings for got away. He never even got the chance to tell her he loved her.
Klaus returned to the dorm later and ran into Elias the last person he wanted to see. “I’m sorry brother.” He had a look of sympathy and pated Klaus on the back and left. He knew Klaus wanted to be left alone. He walked back to his room and decided to shower and go to bed early that night. In the cover’s, he decided that he would come for her. He didn’t know when but he just knew he would come for the love of his life.
6 Years Back in the Future
Liz suddenly dropped the tea cup in her hand. It shattered to the floor with a loud clatter. She could hardly believe what her eyes were reading….
Dear Liz Hart,
We are very pleased to inform you of your extremely hard work these past few years. With hope and honor, we gladly bestow the Researchers Guild Award upon you. For your outstanding accomplishment in finding the cure for the out-break effecting the country side. You have saved many farmers and many lives because of your commitment and passion for animals and people. For this we are going to host a ball in your honor! We look forward to seeing you in Gedolune city next week for your award.
Sincerely
R.N.A
P.S. Please accept this 8,000 lunes for your dress and any other needs for the event.
A puff of smoke appeared on the table in front of her where the lune appeared. Liz scanned the contents of the letter repeatedly. She almost thought her eyes were lying to her as if making her feel like a fool. But the paper she was holding was real, the words were real and the red seal of the R.N.A was truly there. Liz immediately grabbed her cell phone and called her best friend Amelia who she met at the academy six years ago. After a couple of rings Liz heard the high pitch squealing of Amelia.
“Amelia, you will never guess what!”
“Klaus finally came for you!”
Liz grew quite at the sound of Klaus’ name. Her heart crumbled with a pain she would never forget. Klaus was the first and only person she would ever love. Liz still holding her phone to her right ear crossed the room and opened the end table drawer and pulled out a yellow looking tear stained newspaper. It smelled heavily of age and ink. She sat down on her couch and stared at the paper. A few tears leaked from the corners of her eyes. Her hand loving caressed the photo in front of her. The paper was titled ‘The Ministry’s Gifted Rookie’. In his interview, he promised to come for her. Klaus’ face stared right back at her. Making her want to get drunk on love sick tears. She knew the day she left without saying goodbye would be a day she would forever regret. She breathed out a heavy sigh ruining her good mood.
“No … K-Klaus didn’t come for me. “Liz said trying not to let the tears over take her.
“I’m sorry Liz I didn’t mean to bring that up. So, what exciting news were you calling to tell me?”
“Oh, I just received a letter in the mail from the R.N.A. There’re hosting a ball in my honor and presenting me with the Researchers Guild Award."
“OMIGOSH! CONGRATS LIZ!
“Well I was also calling for a couple of other reasons as well.”
“What would that be?” Amelia asked curiously.
“Well I need a dress for the ball … and well do I need to say more?”
“No words needed there Liz, how soon is the ball and where is it?”
“In Gedolune City and its next week where you live I was kind of wondering if I could stay with you and Joel while I’m there?”
“Well of course! You’re my best friend there’s no way I would make you stay at a hotel! Your practically family!” Amelia said sternly.
“Great! I’ll go pack my bags right now! You’re the best Amelia!”
“I know you don’t have to tell me twice. So, when will I be expecting you?”
“Well if I pack now and catch the 2 o’clock train to Pamore and switch trains there I should be at Gedolune City around 7 o’clock.”
“Great! Joel and I will arrive at the train station at about 6:45 tonight then and we can all go out and grab dinner.”
“Sounds perfect! See you then Amelia bye.” Liz said then hung up the phone.
Liz stood up from the couch with the newspaper still in hand. She let out another huge sigh. She set the paper down on the coffee table. She cleaned up the broken tea cup. Liz ran her hands throughout her hair. She had changed so much in six years. She doubted Klaus would even recognize her. For her porcelain, white skin had paled slightly. Her lashes darkened and grew in length slighting, bringing her pink rose colored eyes to life. Liz’s beautiful wavy hair grew in length down to her mid back. As of right now her hair was pulled in a simple French braid. Liz went to her storage closet and got her plastic purple roll on travel case. She went to her closet and grabbed a few spring dresses along with simple skirts and blouses. Liz traveled to the bathroom. She grabbed her toothbrush tooth paste, curling and straightening iron, and her hairbrush. Liz then opened a drawer under the bathroom sink and grabbed her gigantic makeup bag with just about any makeup or makeup tool imaginable. She returned to her room and grabbed a few pairs of shoes careful to make sure they matched her outfit. Liz hated when things didn’t match. She grabbed a few extra lune and her train passport. She then stuffed everything in her roll on and zipped it shut. Walking back down stairs Liz stopped at the coffee table and picked up the newspaper. She held the paper close to her chest. “I’m sorry if I’m not here when you arrive.” Liz spoke out loud as if the newspaper could understand every word she was saying. She sighed and picked the newspaper up putting it back into the end table drawer and shutting it tight.
Liz opened the front door and stepped out into the nice weather her short light blue dress moved along with the breeze. Liz turned around she got her wand out and pointed it at the closed door. "Colloportus.” She spoke and the door was locked from the outside in. Liz put her wand in her roll on and proceeded to walk forward. As Liz traveled to the train station she couldn’t help but think of Klaus. Ninety- nine percent of the time her head were only thoughts of Klaus and her veterinarian work. She shook her head to try to clear her mind a little.
After a while Liz soon arrived at the train station and handed the train conductor her ticket. She then proceeded to find an open car and with success found she found one. When she got inside she locked the door and took a seat and felt the train lurch forward. Liz took out a novel and began to read hoping to make the train ride go a little faster.
Back at the Ministry
Klaus took long strides throughout the halls of the ministry carrying a huge stack of ministry papers.  People moved to get out of his way. Everyone knew better than to upset Klaus. If they favored their lives then it was best to stay out of his way. Klaus approached his office and waved his wand. The door unlocked and opened. He slammed the old cherry wood door closed behind him. He walked over to his desk and dropped the huge stack causing the oak desk to rattle. Klaus let out and enormous sigh and walked to the counter on the right side of the room and started to brew himself tea. Once his lemon honey tea was finished he sat down in his black leather rolling chair and turned to look out the gigantic window that went from the ceiling to the floor. He sipped his tea and stared out at the bustling Gedolune City. He allowed his shoulders to relax. Lemon Honey tea always relaxed him in his most stressful situations.  He was finally beginning to feel himself unwind.
The Goldstein Manor
While at home in the Goldstein estate a grand invitation arrived. Jasper his wife Elaine were in the parlor room sitting in chairs across from each other, along with Elias and his husband Luca on the couch which Elias had his nose buried in the catacombs of the pages, Luca on the other hand sat there with his eyes closed relaxing listening to his husband turn page after page in this book. Walter and Aurora sat on the love seat by the fireplace looking through old photo albums of their children and spouses.
“Oh, my Elias! You and Luca looked so dashing on your wedding day! That was a day to remember!” Said Aurora through her tears and got up to show them. Luca opened one eye to see Elias and him wrapped in each arms with their foreheads pressed together staring deeply into one another’s eyes. Luca had his green hair pulled back by a single black ribbon in a black and white tux, his one green emerald earring hung from his left ear. Elias in a black tux with a purple vest and white bow tie.
“That day certainly was the best day of my life.” Elias said and smiled over to Luca. They joined their hands at the same time and shared a quick kiss, thought it was quick there was so much love and passion felt between the two of them.
Aurora then took the photo from them and placed it in a silver frame and place the photo on the fireplace mantle. She smiled warmly. Aurora sat back down and picked up another album. While Elias and Luca thought of the past. The next album Aurora held consisted of nothing but Jasper and Elaine. Elias and Luca’s album were the same way.
Lulias
Closing into graduation Luca and Elias both had deep feelings for each other. Neither ever admitted. They always were arguing about everything to cover up how they truly felt about one another. But the day they went to graduate from the academy and after the ceremony Elias went to the archives to pick out a few books he had his eye on which Headmaster Randolph said he could help himself. When Elias arrived the green haired boy, Elias loved was relaxing in the windowsill in the warm sun. Elias approached Luca without making a sound. Elias carful studied the handsome boy in front of him. Some of Luca’s hair had fallen across his eyes. Without even realizing it Elias had reached his hand out towards his face a hand suddenly shot out and grabbed Elias’s wrist gently. Elias looked utterly stunned. Luca smirked at Elias blushing face.
“Having problems keeping your hands to yourself prince?” Luca said smirking. In that moment, Elias realized what need to be done. In reality Luca wanted so badly to let Elias touch him.
“Yes, actually I am.” Elias replied confidently which left Luca momentarily stunned. Luca quickly brushed it off and sat up in a seated position on the windowsill. Luca didn’t say anything but the silence continued until Elias broke it.
“Well looks like this is the last time we will be seeing each other, so I hope you get where you want to go in life.” Elias said, he cleared his throat and turned and started walking away.
“You as well.” Luca said, there was no mistaking the twinge of sadness in Luca’s voice.
Closing in on the door Elias stopped. He then spun quickly around and walked right back over to Luca and pressed his lips firmly against his. Luca was shocked but closed his eyes and returned the kiss. Elias climbed on top of the windowsill and pressed Luca against the glass trapping him in Elias’ fiery flammable kiss. Luca wrapped his arms around Elias’ neck. Elias had his hands tangled in Luca’s hair and pulled causing him to moan. Elias then slipped his tongue and mapped the inside of Luca’s mouth savoring every inch.
Elias then pulled away and stared into the surprised emerald eyes. Elias smiled gently and put both hands on Luca’s cheeks and used his thumbs to slowly stroke them. He was still kneeling over Luca’s lap. Elias leaned down and gently kissed him.
“I love you, you idiot.” Elias said with his lips still on Luca’s.
“I love you more.” Luca smiled against his lips
After that day, Elias and Luca became an official couple and 3 years later happily married at last.
 Back at The Goldstein Manor
Aurora found Jasper and Elaine’s wedding photo. She then placed the photo in a similar looking frame that contained Elias and Luca’s wedding photo. She carefully set the photo down on the fireplace mantle. In the back was a large family photo. Klaus was the only one not smiling in it, he looked rather depressed watching everyone else blossom their undivine growing love his stayed forever frozen in time. Followed by the large photo, three frames rested carefully on the mantle. In the center was Walter an Aurora on the day they were married. On the right side was Jasper and Elaine. On left was Luca and Elias. Aurora stared at the photos and sighed a little. She walked over to the side of the love seat and picked up the final silver frame. Walter then noticed the sadness that spread throughout her beautiful face.
“Aurora darling what’s the matter.” Walter said placing an arm around her shoulder.
“I just wish Klaus could find his happiness again. I’ve tired multiple times to pare him up with some of my friend’s daughters from our social circle, that always ended in tears one way or another.” Aurora said staring at the blank sliver photo frame with a frown plastered to her face. Elias looked at his mother and sighed.
“Liz is the only thing that can bring him out of this. Klaus doesn’t want one of those stuck of girls that love him for his money Liz loved Klaus because of who he was as a person, Liz saw him in a way that nobody else ever could. When he was with her I never seen him smile from the bottom of his heart like that, or laugh for instance. I honestly haven’t heard him laugh like that since we were kids. Liz was his light in the darkness and once she left the dark came back.” Elias spoke still remembering the day Klaus came back from the girl’s dormitory completely heart broken. Elias never saw his brother so depressed in his whole life.
“God only knows where she is.” Luca said looking up at the celling. A maid with her black hair tied in a tight bun and her red lips formed a graceful smile.
“Excuse me Mr. Goldstein this invitation has arrived address to you.” The maid handed Walter the letter and gracefully left without another word. Walter turned the invitation over to see the sender.
“Ah, it’s from the R.N.A. Probably another charity event.” Walter said unamused.
Walters eyes popped open once he scanned the contents of the letter, the letter read.
Dear Mr.Goldstein,
We hereby invite you and your family to a ball next week Friday at 8:00 p.m. sharp. The ball is to celebrate Ms. Liz Hart and her outstanding research on finding a cure for the out-break death causing virus to animals in the city and farm life. We expect to see your family there.
Sincerely,
R.N.A
Walter glance curiously at his youngest son.
“Elias? What was the name of that girl your brother can't get over?” Walter asked
“Liz Hart.” Elias casually said
“Well I know how to fix our son Aurora.” Walter smiled and brushed his hands together.
“How?” Auroras thick pink lips pressed together and brow furrowed. Walter smiled and handed the letter to her. She glanced at the contents of the letter.
“This could work, but…” Aurora stopped
“But what?”
“Let's tell him the ball is just for another R.N.A charity event. The moment Klaus sees her I'm hoping he will finally snap out of it. Can one of you run down to the ministry and tell him in person."
“Good idea. Jasper, Elias, Luca you all go down to the ministry and try to convince your brother to go to that ball. Make it convincing. I'm sick of watching your brother suffocate himself in his work."
The three men looked at their father and left for the ministry.
Aurora smiled and looked at Walter.
“I hope this works dear.” Aurora said. “I know she is not of wealth but if she can make Klaus happy then I already consider her my daughter.” Aurora said smiling. A new maid came in offering her a cup of blackberry citrus tea. She excepted and gracefully brought the cup to her lips. She stood and kissed Walter on the cheek and took the silver picture frame with her. Aurora knew Klaus loved this girl more than his own life. She knew that he would not stand letting Walter or her interrogate Liz. But in time Aurora would too know Liz soon enough. She smiled once more to herself.
Back to The Ministry
Klaus sat at his desk filling papers one after another. He was in a perfect rhythm until the knock that came to his door. He furrowed his brow at the sound of interruption. He threw the pen down on his desk and grabbed his cup of tea and leaned back in his chair.
“Enter.” Klaus said in a slightly annoyed voice. The door opened in pursuit of the voice and Jasper, Elias, and Luca all walked in. Klaus rolled his eyes at them.
“Who spit in your tea this morning.” Luca said with a smirk. Elias who was holding hands with Luca pulled on his arm with a look of his own. His husband returned with a glare that said, ‘Don’t even try me.’ Jasper looked over at the two trading threating glances and cleared his throat giving a look of death himself.
“Now Klaus we understand how busy you are so I won’t take up too much of your time here.” Klaus ran his hand through his hair. “We received an invitation in the mail today for a ball hosted by the mayor Mother and Father expect to see you there under no excuses are you allowed to back out.” Jasper declared trying to fight the smile of his second youngest brother finding his love again.
“Trust us on this Klaus this isn’t going to be some ordinary ball this will be one you won’t ever want to miss in a million years.” Elias said adding on to Jasper. Klaus took a sip of his tea before replying.
“When?” Klaus said. Japer, Elias, and Luca all traded glances.
“Next Friday at 8:00p.m. sharp.” Elias said.
“Fine.” Klaus said sharply.
“So, you will go?” Luca approached Klaus with Elias in tow. “Yes, now get out before I change my mind.” Klaus then picked up the pen to start filing more papers. The three of them left while exchanging glances and closed the door behind them leaving Klaus to his Ministry reports.
Back at The Goldstein Manor
The three of them left the Ministry. Soon enough they arrived back at the manor the three of them wasted no time on reporting back to their parents. They turned a corner almost knocking into Aurora.
“Klaus agreed to attend the ball. Could you please let Father know?” Jasper said.
Aurora was absolutely thrilled and wasted no time. She turned and walked quickly through the house. Her black heels clacked against the beautiful white and grey marble floors. The picture frames in golden trim hung against the long white halls. Aurora walked to the end of the hallway visible of the front doors. She then proceeded up a white polished grand staircase with a gothic railing. Aurora drew near of her destination and approached two black sturdy doors turning the silver handles she opened the doors and there standing in front of the fireplace was Walter.
“Aurora, I haven’t seen you look this excited since you found out you were pregnant with Elias What is it darling?” Walter looked at his gleeful wife.
“It’s Klaus he agreed to go to the ball! Oh, Walter he can finally have his happiness! I’m sick of watching our son suffocate himself in his work for the past six years. This is our one chance to get them both the happiness they deserve.” Aurora said and she left the room for a little bit and came back with the silver picture frame.
“Walter don’t you agree it’s time to fill this empty frame with something beautiful?”
“Yes, and we will soon I know it.” Walter smiled and gave his beautiful wife a kiss. “I just know Klaus can find his happy ending.” Aurora smiled at him and leaned into his kiss.
At the Train station
Amelia and Joel sat a bench waiting for Liz to arrive. Their four-year- old daughter Emma sat wrapped in her father’s arms. The train whistle soon sounded and pulled up at the station. Amelia stood up to go great her friend. A crowd of people emerged from the train. Liz soon stepped out onto the platform and was caught in a tight embrace surrounded by squealing.
“Liz! I’ve missed you like crazy!” Amelia said squeezing the life out of her. Liz then returned the embrace. Joel came over with Lilac holding his hand. Liz smiled hugged Joel tightly.
“It’s so good to see you again Liz.” Joel let go of Liz. She then bent over and picked up her godchild and gave her a kiss to her pale delicate little cheek.
“So how was your train ride Liz?” Joel asked with curiosity.
“Pretty good actually managed a nap on the way and read a novel on the way here.” Liz said and proceeded to walk forward with Emma held up by her arm on one side and the roll-on present in the other. She glanced around her with Joel and Amelia holding hands alongside her. Liz sighed and shook her head. She often let Klaus into her head more than she ought to and she forced these thoughts out of her head.
They four of them stopped at Joel and Amelia’s home so Liz could drop her roll-on off. Liz held Emma’s tiny hand and they all stopped at a local restaurant to remiss of things and catch up in each other lives.
“Honestly thought Liz congratulations on your award we are so proud of you.” Joel said then proceed with a forkful of spaghetti in pursuit.
“Thanks, well speaking of the ball I was hoping the two of you could come as my guests.” Liz smiled brightly at both of her best friends.
“I would absolutely love to go! Tomorrow we all have to go shopping and get the most perfect gowns in existence of gowns.” Amelia thrilled. Liz and Joel soon bursted into a fit of laughter at her over excited behavior. Joel smiled and kissed his wife on the cheek. Liz saw this and turned down to her plate. They finished their meal and headed home. Joel and Amelia walked in front of Emma and her. Liz was silent the whole way home.
Upon arrival Liz went to the guest bedroom where she had always stayed in during her stay. Liz took a quick shower and then crawled into bed. She wrapped her arms around her pillow and laid on her side. She then pulled the silver chain of the pendant Klaus had given her during her time at the academy out from her black spaghetti strap silk nightgown.
A single tear slipped from her eye and slid down her porcelain skin. Her heart was forever caged by the eternal love that stirred deep within her. The only way for the cage to be opened was to find the key and she was sure the key had long since forgotten her. Liz kissed the pendant and slipped it back into her nightgown. She allowed her tears to come forth and send her to sleep.
Mornings at the Goldstein Manor
The dark maroon velvet floor curtains restricted any light from entering the room. In the middle of the semi darkened room Elias and Luca laid bare under the sheet cocooned in each other’s arms from their passionate night before. Luca’s eye’s fluttered open to see his husband sleeping peacefully next to him. A smile slowly crept across his face. He leaned down and capture Elias’ lips in a kiss. A moment later Luca felt two masculine arms wrap around his waist. “Good Moring my love.” Luca said and passionately kissed his husband once again. Elias wrapped his arms around Luca and return the kiss. The two of them reenacted their passionate love making from last night.
Jasper and Elaine were already up and awake. The got up early each morning like usual and held hands and walked by the ocean near the mansion. The cool breeze tossling both of their hair. Elaine wore a white sundress and no shoes. She made footprints in the sand along the edge of the water. The water then chased the footprints bringing them to their watery grave. They watched the sunrise. Jasper turned to his beautiful wife and kissed her passionately.
Walter and Aurora were in Walter’s study that morning. Walter going over blueprints for an new invention and working out the last few errors. Aurora sat on the love seat reading a book. A pot of tea was shared that morning between the two of them. Just like every morning before that. Aurora quietly closed her book as to not disturb her husband. She took a sip from her tea and glanced out the window admiring the beautiful morning sun.
Then there was Klaus who laid in his room by himself. His bed as empty as Luca’s head was sometimes. He lied on his back arms folded behind his head staring at the ceiling. He closed his eyes taking in the silence of the morning. Klaus was the only one yet to marry in the family. To him it was depressing. For his mother and father had tried to arrange multiple blind dates and such. Klaus only blew them off in his case there was only one girl he wanted and anyone who got in his way would be damned to try and stop him.
Klaus flung the covers off his bed and got dressed for he had a long day at the Ministry. He stepped out of his bedroom closing the door swiftly behind him. As he walked down the halls the same stern depressing looking marinated his face. When he came down the main set of stairs he was greeted by his mother.
"Good morning sweetie." Aurora came up to her son smiling brighter than normal. Klaus only stared at his mother in surprise. He thought her behavior was rather peculiar considering she was not a morning person. Let alone see her smile like for a long time. He stared at her for a moment more before brushing past her and heading for the door.
Klaus slammed the front door behind him leaving his mother alone. Her face crumble slightly and Walter soon appeared down the grand staircase.
"Walter, I wish this ball would just hurry up and be here. Klaus is getting worse and worse by the day, the look on his face was heartbreaking.”
Walter and Aurora looked at the door their broken-hearted son had just opened and closed. Aurora pursed her lips, kissed her husband and left. She held onto as much hope as she could give to Klaus.
Shopping Day
Liz and Amelia decided to go out earlier that morning and have a little girl’s day. They started off by having tea and muffins at a small café not too far from the house. They sat outside. Liz picked up her tea cup taking in the aroma. Amelia sat stuffing her face full of blueberry muffin. Liz let out a little chuckle and looked out into the city admiring all the happy people that passed by. The swift breeze tossed her hair. Liz let out a small sigh and a somewhat sad expression. Liz saw a young couple and their children walking side by side. The man had his arm around the young woman’s shoulder. A little girl held her father’s hand and a little boy tightly held his mother’s hand. Amelia took note of Liz’ sad expression and her constant staring.
“Amelia, I made a stupid mistake didn’t I, I knew I would regret this eventually. If I never left without saying goodbye. If I would have stayed maybe we would be married with two beautiful children like they have. He’s probably forgotten all about me.
Amelia saw the loneness in her friend’s eyes.
“Liz, Klaus was crazy about you. I bet there isn’t a day that goes by he doesn’t think about you. But I don’t think he ever forgot you. I know with all my heart you will be able to be together again.” Amelia smiled contently at Liz.
The two of them payed for their breakfast and left to go find dress for the ball. They entered a rather exquisite store. Extraordinary dresses hung for display. The two of them decided to split up to look for dresses. Liz slowly walked through the store stopping to look at an occasional gown. Nothing really spoke to her until she saw a beautiful dress a few racks down. The dress was a rich royal blue. It had a sweetheart neckline with silver beads and embroidery covered the top of the dress and shimmered enticingly in the light. The skirt was a full floor length tulle ballgown that would swish when she would walk.
She took the dress and went to try it on in the dressing room. The moment she opened the curtain and walk out on the mini catwalk. She looked carefully at herself in the three-golden lite up mirrors. Liz could hardly believe the girl in the mirror was her. The rich royal blue complemented her fair skin. The gown had a fitted bodice that hugged her slim frame nicely.
As she was lost in her own world Amelia came over.
“That’s the one Liz! Please tell me you are buying that because if you don’t I’m buying it for you!”
“No don’t worry the R.N.A sent 8,000 lune for me to use to put towards the event. Besides this dress absolutely takes my breath away.” Liz quickly spun in her dress giggling a little. This would end up being one of the more nicer things that she owned.
She quickly walked back in the dressing room and put her dress back on the hanger and got redressed in her normal clothes. As she was walking towards the check-out counter she happened to notice a pair of silver platform heels covered in glitter. Liz knew how well they would go with the dress, she picked up a box and continued.
Liz placed her items on the counter.
“Find everything Okay dear?” The sales clerk asked.
“Very well.”
“Your total is going to be 4,500 lune.”
Liz opened her clutch and took out the total amount and handed it over.
“Thank you so much for your business enjoy the rest of you day!”
“You as well.” Liz said stepping away from the counter and waited for the lady to ring up Amelia’s purchases. With dresses picked out and the ball now only four days away. Liz was still unaware the shock that awaited her besides a ball.
 The Day of The Ball / The Goldstein Manor
Klaus looked grouchily at his mother who was currently adjusting his dark blue tie. He could care less about this ball. He opted to stay home but only ended up suffering a big lecture from Aurora. So here he was a black suit and dark blue tie. His mother finished with his tie went on to annoy Jasper about his messy unkept hair.
The seven of them walked out of the front door of the house. When they walked together in a group the air itself was elegant. They were the most intimidating family in all Gedolune.
They all got in the black stretch limo. Elias snuggled into Luca who had his arm around Elias’s shoulder.
“You look s-so handsome in your suit.” Elias said with a slight blush and gave Luca a discreet kiss on his jaw line.
“I can’t believe you still blush like that.” Luca said smirking and quickly kissed Elias on the lips and whispered. “I think you’re the dashing one here.”
While Luca and Elias flirted away Jasper and Elaine sat in the way back kissing, and Walter and Aurora were holding hands remising about the old days when they fell in love.
Klaus sat in the middle of all this. He looked down at the floor, the sad expression colored his entire face. When Klaus wasn’t looking everyone shared a secret smile. Luca who could no longer hold it in let out a small chuckle. Klaus looked up at the green haired fool.
“What are you smirking about over there.”
“Nothing, nothing. Nothing at all.” Luca said still grinning like crazy
Klaus rolled his eyes and stared out the window for the rest of the ride. As for Luca who continued to snicker away. Elias punched him hard in the arm.
“Ow, what was that for!?”
“Just because I felt like it.” Luca leaned over and captured his lips and whisper between kisses.
“You are so getting punished later.”
The Day of The Ball/ Joel and Amelia’s home
Liz stood in front of the mirror. She was very carefully applying her make-up. Her make-up consisted of a sparkly glitter eyeshadow on the whole lid and on the inner corner applied a little bit of a pearl white eyeshadow. Liz slowly but sure did her winged eyeliner for the night. Applied a little mascara and a nude lipstick color. She looked herself over and deemed it perfect.
She then started on her hair which she left down and curled it. Finally, she put her dress and shoes on and stood in-front of the body mirror. Her hair cascaded down to her mid back and her eyes shown more than anything. She could hardly recognize herself. Liz then went to her dresser and pulled out a box a little bigger than her hand and when she opened it revealed the large diamond necklace she purchased two days ago. She clasped it together slipped on her silver diamond bracelet and went downstairs to see if Amelia and Joel were ready yet.
Sure, enough they were both in the living room waiting for her. When Liz walked into the room their jaws dropped a little.
“You look amazing Liz.” Joel said smiling
“Oh Lizzy! You’re going to be the most beautiful person there!” Amelia said getting up to circle her best friend.
“Come on let’s go we don’t have time to gawk at me all day.” Liz said rolling her eyes
When they stepped outside they saw a limo waiting for them with a nicely dressed man in a suit.
“Miss Hart and guest’s, I presume?” The well-dressed man said and opened the door for them to get in.
“Um … who are you exactly?” Liz felt a little uncertain of the vehicle.
“Pardon me miss this here would explain things.” He handed her a well folded letter, Liz imminently recognized the seal on the envelope but still opened it anyway. There was a short brief message written:
Dear Liz Hart,
We figured you might want to go out in style. This is your biggest honor why not live the night to the fullest.
Sincerely,
R.N.A
“Shall we go Miss Hart?”
“Why not.” She smiled and they all piled into the limo to enjoy the best night of their lives.
Arriving at The Ball/ Goldstein Family
When the limo arrived, the door was opened for them by a well-dressed man. Klaus was the last to get out he really didn’t want to be here right now. But he walked up the stairs with the elegance expected from a Goldstein. The entire family walked into the ballroom. All the most wealthiest families in the kingdom were there.
“Ah! Goldstein’s welcome!” The mayor walked over to greet them.
“Thank you, sir, it’s a pleasure for all of us to be here. We simply couldn’t bear to pass up this opportunity.” Walter said.
“Right you are Walter. The guest of honor is yet to arrive but I trust you will all have the best of times.” He smiled and shook Walter’s hand. He then reached over and took Aurora’s hand kissing the back of it. “Mrs. Goldstein as beautiful as ever.”
“Most defiantly mayor. Enjoy your evening.” Walter said smiling and pulled his wife away from the mayor. “I swear Aurora every time we see him he has to make some sort of move on you.”
“Oh, Walter as far as I’m concerned you’re the only man for me.” Walter blushed slightly and turned towards the rest of the family.
“Alright you all have a good time.” Walter said and guided Aurora by the arm into the crowd to say hi to a few people.
Elias and Luca went to go share a dance. Jasper and Elaine decided to go over and talk to a few people. As for Klaus, he just drifted off to one side of the room with a drink in hand.
Outside a limo pulled up and the well-dressed man help Liz out of the limo followed by Joel and Amelia. The night was just getting started.
Liz’ arrival at the party
Liz step out of the limo with the help of the well dress man. She picked up her dress and started to walk up the stairs. At the top, she saw all the well know families of the kingdom. They were all caring on conversations or dancing along to the music
“Wow this place sure is fancy.” Joel said letting out a small whistle
“You got that right.” Liz said. She walked through the huge entrée way. A few people stopped to admire her beauty. The mayor spotted her a few feet away.
“Ah! Miss Hart congratulations on your accomplishment. I hope the ball is to your liking.”
“Thank you, sir. They ball is just wonderful it’s an honor just to receive praise from you.”
“The honor is mine! Enjoy your time here.” The mayor then walked away
Liz let herself look around at everything the marble floors and white walls were beautiful. The giant red velvet curtains, and even the guests everything was perfect. The classic music being played in the background was soothing and the conversations from the people were delectable.
She proceeded to walk around. Then she ran into the leader of the R.N.A who came over to shake her hand.
“Miss Hart it’s an honor to meet you do you mind if we sit down with you for an interview?”
“No not at all. Amelia, Joel why don’t the two of you go share a dance or something I’m sure this will take a while.”
“Okay bye Liz!” Amelia said and grabbed Joel’s arm and pulled him away to go dance. Liz smiled and chuckled a little. She sat down with the leader and proceeded on with the interview.
The Party/ Goldstein’s
After Elias and Luca finished their dance they noticed a familiar couple on the dance floor. They proceed towards them.
“So, the two of you are here as well?” Elias said. The couple stopped dancing to look at the youngest Goldstein.
“Wait … if you’re here then, does that mean Klaus is here?” Amelia asked curiously
“Yes, of course … wait a second why are the two of you here?” Elias pursued.
“Were here as Liz’s guests of honor.” Joel answered.
Elias and Luca exchanged glances.
“Where is she?” They wasted no time in asking.
“In an interview, why?”  Luca smirked at the comment
“Are the two you ready to reunite to long lost lovers?” Joel and Amelia exchanged glances and smiled. “What’s the plan?”
“Just get Liz outside into the gardens we will take care of the rest.” With that Elias and Luca turned to leave with wide grins plastered on their faces. It was now time to find Klaus.
Liz’s finished interview
Amelia and Joel were standing nearby when Liz stood up from her interview. Amelia went over to Liz and started checking her hair and make-up making sure that everything was in place. This moment had to be perfect.
“What are you doing?”
“Adjusting your hair, a little bit.” Amelia said trying to act as casual as she could possibly muster “Well I’m going outside for a little bit of fresh air.” Liz said and Amelia walked out with her glaring at her husband to stay in place.
They walked through elegant clear double doors. The night air was cool and refreshing to her. Liz and Amelia saw a beautiful gazebo in the center of a large pond lite up by white Christmas lights. The lights reflected on the pond mixing with the many lights from the firefly’s. Liz and Amelia walked across the long bridge.
“Wow Amelia this is beautiful.” Liz said commenting on the beauty of the whole view. Liz placed her hands on the sides of the gazebo and peered out into the water. She looked down to see large coy fish. While Liz was admiring beautiful scenery, Amelia was busy looking for the Goldstein brothers.
Then Amelia caught sight of two golden hair men appear. Amelia saw they were discussing something and Klaus suddenly looked here. His eyes wide and surprised. She saw him turn towards Elias and back towards Liz.
“Hey Liz, I’m going to go in and get something to drink for us. Why don’t you wait here?”
“Okay, that’s fine.” Liz then turned her attention back towards the water. Amelia walked across the long bridge. She walked right over to the Goldstein brothers and said
“Klaus, Liz needs you in her life more than anything. Go get her before it’s too late.”
Klaus didn’t say anything but nod, and then Elias and Amelia took there leave together.
Getting Klaus
Elias and Luca departed from Joel and Amelia. Elias turned to his beloved husband. “This is something I need to do on my own.” Luca nodded and gave his husband a kiss. Elias found Klaus near the staircase staring sadly at the dancing couples.
“Klaus I’m going to step outside in the gardens for a bit would you care to join me?”
“I would actually. This party is getting on my last nerve.” Klaus said and turned with his brother willingly. Elias looked so relived at how easy this was. They turned out the clear double doors and into the beautiful well-kept garden. When they were closing in on the gazebo Elias opened his mouth to speak.
“Klaus do you know why we are here at this event?”
“Not really and it’s not like I care either.” They were now in view of the gazebo and had yet to notice Liz and Amelia.
“Well I think you will once you look ahead.” Klaus sighed and looked towards the gazebo. His heart stopped for a moment. “Elias … is that Liz?”
Elias didn’t speak only nod. Amelia said something to Liz and came over to them.
“Klaus, Liz needs you in her life more than anything. Go get her before it’s too late.” Amelia nodded to Elias and the two of them left just like that. Klaus took a deep breath and started to walk forward.
Klaus/ Liz reunited
He followed the path down the bridge that would take him to her. His heart was racing. For he was finally going to reunite with the love of his life. Now standing almost directly behind her he calmed himself and finally spoke to her.
“How could you leave me like that bunnyhead?” Liz who had been staring into the pond felt her heart stop beating. She would recognize his voice from anywhere. She slowly raised her head and turned around.
“Klaus…” She said his voice in almost a whisper. She was fighting back the tears threatening to spill. Klaus walked towards her and pulled her into a tight embrace. He put his chin on her head and held her close and gently like a precious treasure. The tears that were threating her eyes finally came flowing down her face as she wrapped her arms tightly around his back.
“Klaus … I-I’m so sorry I left. This is all my fault I never …” Liz chocked on her tears. Klaus stroked her back.
“Why did you leave me like that we could have worked something out?” Klaus asked her in a low calm voice.
Thank the gods, she was wearing waterproof make-up. Klaus pulled back and carefully whipped her tears away with his thumbs. Once she was calm she began to speak.
“I never came back because I was so ashamed of not getting in. I let you down and I let myself down.” She moved away from him and turned her back to him to face the water. “All that hard training was put to waste because of me.”
“Liz …” Klaus’ voice was calm and gentle. “That was not a waste. All that training we did together brought us closer. I never ever regret any of that.” Klaus took Liz’s hands and spun her around to look at him.
“I don’t regret any of it either. The closer I became to you the deeper I fell in love with you.” Liz said in a hushed whisper smiling and stroked his cheek with her hand. His gazed suddenly dropped to the silver chain around her neck. The pennant hidden in her dress, he recognized the chain and pulled the pennant out he gave her to protect her.
“Your still wear it?” Klaus looked deeply into her rose colored eyes. She blushed a little.
“I haven’t taken it off once since I left the academy. I think about you all the time.” Liz placed her hand on his cheek and looked into his eyes and whispered. “This pennant gave me the hope and strength I needed when you weren’t there. It gave me the will to make myself a better wizardess. It felt like you were with me all the time.” Klaus arms encircled her waist and placed his forehead against hers. He couldn’t believe how much Liz wanted to be with him until she spoke. Her delicate light aired voice was honey to his ears. “I’ve missed you so much Klaus.”
“I’ve missed you too bunnyhead.” Klaus said in a husky voice. He leaned down and capture her lips with his. A jolt of electricity ran through both of their bodies.  Liz wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him even closer. The kiss started out gentle and sweet but became deep and passionate. Everything they wanted to say to each other was conveyed in the kiss.
Klaus pulled back to look deeply into her eyes and after a brief silence he finally spoke. “Liz, I love you more than anything else in the entire world. Don’t ever leave me again I don’t think I can live anymore if you leave.”
“I love you too Klaus and I promise with my entire heart that I won’t ever leave you again.”
“Well you can try but I don’t think you will succeed.” Liz chuckled and grabbed his face with both hands and deeply kissed him. Off in the distance Aurora watched the couple with a smile. She knew Klaus’ misery and pain of heart break was over. She walked away and let the couple be.
Klaus pulled away from Liz.
“You have formed into an absolutely beautiful breath-taking woman. You look Absolutely stunning tonight.” Klaus then grabbed her hand and spun her around. “This has to be the best night of my life right now.”
“I could say the same thing right now but thanks.” Liz giggled and kissed his lips again
“Hmm someone is a little to bold now might need to fix that.” Klaus said and kissed her yet once more.
“Do you want to go back in and get something to eat? I was supposed to get a drink but I have a feeling Amelia won’t be returning with my drink.”
“Fine by me.” Klaus wrapped his arm around her waist. “By the why are you here Liz not that I’m not happy you’re here but I’m curious?” Liz looked shocked.
“Klaus, you don’t know what the ball is for?”
“My family said it was a R.N.A charity event.
“Well the ball is in my honor because I discovered and cured the cause of disease spread throughout the country side. I guess I’m supposed to get an award or something.” Liz said with a shrug.
“Well look at you here you couldn’t even make a simple tornado and here you re saving the country side.” Klaus smiled warmly at her. “I’m so proud of you.”
“Thanks … hey wait a second what do you mean can’t make a tornado.” Liz suddenly took out her wand and without saying a single incantation and the flick of her wand a tiny tornado appeared in her hand just like when Liz had to do this during her training with Klaus.
“Wait you don’t even need to say the incantation, you’ve come along way. I’m impressed.” Klaus bent down and kissed her forehead. With his arm still around her waist they re-entered the ballroom.
Liz then saw Amelia and Joel chatting with Elias and Luca. She saw Amelia had a fresh glass of champagne in her hand and reached out and grabbed the glass from her hand.
“Thanks for getting me a drink Amelia I really appreciate it.” Liz smirked and took a sip from the glass.
Amelia turned around and saw Liz smirking and Klaus had his arm secured around her waist.
“There is an entire table over there with drinks why did you have to steal mine!”
“You promised me a drink and never came back with it so I figured I was going to have to grab it myself.”
“Well, well aren’t you a sight for sore Lizzy?” Luca suddenly piped up and came over to give her a hug.
“Oh, Luca how have you been!” Liz said giving him a big hug.
“I’ve been pretty good.”
“Elias it’s been a such a long time how have you been?” Liz gave Elias a hug which he returned and smiled.
“Exceptional, I got married to an idiot.”
“You got married, to who?”
“I would be that idiot apparently.” Luca said sarcastically
“I’m so happy for the both of you! I mean everyone knew the two of you always had a thing going for each other.”
Luca then grabbed Liz by the arm and put his arm around her shoulder. “Life’s too short to not do the things you aren’t happy doing. If you don’t do them now you will always regret it.”
With Luca saying this Klaus took every word he said to heart. He knew now what he had to do. He just hoped he wasn’t too late. When Klaus and Liz parted from them he suddenly stopped and turned towards her.
“May I have this dance.” Liz smiled and accepted
“Certainly.” Klaus then grabbed her by the waist and held her close. She wrapped her one around his neck and the other in his hand. She then brought her head up to fit in the crook of his neck. She breathed in his scent. He smelled like tea and old books. It was a scent never forgotten.
With that the ball soon came to an end. Klaus was walking Liz out. Before she got in he grabbed her and kissed her.
“Now you’re not going to go running away from me, now are you?”
“I promise but I’m leaving tomorrow night to go back to Reitz I hope you know that.”
“Oh, right of course, I was actually wondering if you wanted to have dinner with me tomorrow night.”
“Hmmm I suppose I can stay one more night if it’s for you.” She lovingly kissed his lips one last time before getting in. “I love you Klaus bye.”
“I love you too.” Klaus now had the biggest smile plastered on his face. Klaus walked over and got into his own, the night was still young.
 In Liz’s Limo
She couldn’t stop smiling. No matter how hard she tried she just couldn’t do it. It was like the world was now painted in a new color. Amelia and Joel just smiled at her new-found happiness.
“So, Liz how was the ball tonight?” Amelia had a smirk plastered on her face.
“Oh, Amelia my heart has never been so fluttered before in all my life.”
“I bet after six years my heart would have long for since given out.”
“I thought my heart was going to then the moment we kissed it was like all the cracks and leaks in my heart have been repaired in an instant.” Liz couldn’t help but gush the entire ride home.
Liz knew deep in her heart that Klaus and her would never be separated ever again. That she would make sure of.
In Klaus’ Limo
Klaus who was no longer grumpy was relaxing in the limo was smiling to his heart’s content.
“So how was the ball Klaus? You seem to be in high spirits.” Aurora asked smiling
“It was wonderful.”
“It must be Liz then that’s the only explanation.” Walter and Aurora exchanged glances and decided to tell Klaus the mystery behind how they knew about Liz.
“Klaus there’s something your mother and I want to tell you. When the letter came from the R.N.A we saw Liz’s name mentioned in it. We knew that was the girl you were so hung up on. We never told you because we wanted to surprise you and it would seem your younger brother had to take matters into his own hands to make this happen. I just hope your not angry son.”
Klaus looked over at his little brother. He knew how much Klaus loved Liz and was determined to help his older brother. Elias caught Klaus’ eye and nodded and looked away. Elias had a funny way of showing that he cared for his brother. Klaus smiled a little at his younger brother. He reclined back into the limo and enjoyed the rest of the ride of home.
He thought about what Luca had said to Liz earlier about life being too short. He knew he had a little shopping and planning tomorrow before he met up with Liz.
Date Night / Liz
Liz stood yet again in-front of the mirror. Her long brunette hair was pulled back into a simple high pony tail. She wore black flats with a short baby blue dress with pink floral patterns, the top part of the dress was more of a muscle shirt style. The dress hugged her figure nicely.
She quickly applied a nude lip-gloss and deemed herself presentable. She stole a quick glance at the clock. Klaus would be here to get her any second. A small knock was herd on the door.”
“Liz it’s just me can I come in.”
“Yeah.”
Amelia opened the door and smiled seeing her best friend all dressed up.
“Liz … I’m so happy you and Klaus are together again.”
“You and me both. My heart has never felt so whole in my entire life.” Liz then adjusted her dress a little. While Liz and Amelia were still talking the doorbell rang. Amelia let out a squeal.
“Klaus is here go!” With that Amelia started to push on her back. Liz walked to the front door and saw Klaus there with a bouquet of lavender roses. He smiled when he saw her. He grabbed her right hand and bestowed it with a kiss.
“You look more beautiful than yesterday.” Liz smiled and blushed slightly. “Also, these are for you.” He handed her the roses which see accepted with a smile.
“There absolutely beautiful.” She leaned down and smi lled them. She then turned towards Amelia who had been watching. “Put these in water would you.” She handed them over to Amelia. She then turned back towards Klaus.” So, what’s the plan for today?”
“It’s a surprise.” Klaus smiled mischievously he had a plan all right. Then he took out a handkerchief and tied it around her eyes.
“Hey Klaus!? What’s the big idea here!?” Klaus then wrapped his arms around her from behind and whispered seductively in her ear.
“Well it’s a surprise and I can’t have you spoiling it now can I.” He then nibbled her earlobe . The small love bite sent a pleasant chill up her spine. It was dark out so he couldn’t see the blaze of heat in her cheeks. “So, don’t let your curiosity get the best of you, or I might just have to punish you.” His lips soon pressed against the side of her neck working their way down to her back.
“U-Um we should probably go.” Liz was so embarrassed by that small action. She tried to wiggle her way out of Klaus’ grasp but he held her tight.
“I’m not letting you go just yet. I need to make sure you get the message.” He lightly bit the skin of her neck.
“Mm ... Klaus” Liz sighed in pleasure. Klaus let out a small chuckle and released her from his hold and tightly held her hand leading her to her surprise.
After walking for some time Liz could hear sounds of waves crashing into each other. They were by the ocean. For she could smell the salt water. Suddenly Klaus picked her up and placed her in something which she guessed was a boat from the rocking motion. She sat down and felt Klaus get in. The boat soon started to move.
“I’ve already figured half of your plan out in my head.” Liz giggled.
“Hmmm am I going to have to punish you for that?” Klaus said suggestively.
“Maybe so.” Liz whispered back at him. Klaus could hardly believe this was the silly bunnyhead he met all those years ago. Now here she was in-front of him as a fully matured woman. Finally, they reached their destination. Klaus turned towards Liz.
“Get on my back and don’t ask questions.” Liz hesitated but did it reluctantly. She wrapped her legs around his waist and arms around his neck. She was firmly pressed against his back. Klaus suddenly began to climb up a latter. When they reached the deck, Klaus told her she could now get off.
They were on the Goldstein family yacht. Klaus had spent all day making everything perfect. White Christmas lights hung up all around Rose petals and scented candles cover the entire deck and at the front of the yacht was a dinner table cover with rose petals and candles. He had a soft violin melody playing on another level of the ship.
He went behind her and slowly pulled the blind fold off to only here her gasp in surprise.
“You did all of this … for me.” Liz was shocked
“Let’s go eat I’m sure you must be starving.” Klaus led her to the table and pulled the chair out for her. Liz smiled at the cheesy move he just pulled.
“Thank you.” She sat down and Klaus took the chair opposite of her. He picked up a small bell and rang it. A moment later four chefs came out and place their dinner on the table.
The meal was very tasteful. Broiled lobster with a butter with a garlic infusion on a bed of lettuce. White wine and for dessert a chocolate mousse made by the finest chef in the kingdom.
“Looks absolutely delicious.” Liz complemented and dug right into her lobster. Klaus smiled at the adorable look on her face while eating.
“You look like a chipmunk stuffing your face like that.” He smiled gently while Liz blushed. During that meal, they spent catching up on each other’s lives. Laughing and just enjoying each other’s presence. When they finished eating Klaus opted they talk a walk on the deck. Liz slid her arm through his and cuddled into his side. That made Klaus smile like crazy and it warmed his very heart.
When they reached the back deck, the moon was shining down reflecting on the water’s surface. Liz let go of Klaus’ arm to look out at the view. After some time, Liz noticed how quiet Klaus was. She looked back to see him staring at her with a gentle smile in his eyes.
“Liz.” Klaus said and took both of her hands in his and smiled at her. “From the six years were apart my world was a dark and gray void. A mess if you would. I never knew how much I truly loved you and needed you in my life. Now that were together again. I can’t bear to imagine the thought of you leaving again. If you left me again it would destroy my very heart and soul.”
Klaus could see tears starting to form in her eyes.
“My love I have something I wanted to ask you for the longest time now.” Klaus let go of her hands to pulled a black velvet box out of his suit and got down on one knee he opened the box and presented her with a ring. The ring was a 24 k gold cut diamond in the shape of a heart. Liz couldn’t believe what was happing. “Liz, will you make me the happiest man alive and stay by myside for the rest of our lives?”
Tears of absolute joy flowed down her face as she covered her mouth with her hands. She started nodding her head. “Yes! Yes, I will marry you Klaus!” She said through her tears and threw herself into his arms. She grabbed his face and kissed him tenderly conveying all the love she couldn’t express right now. When she pulled away Klaus got up and took her left hand his and slid the ring on her figure and kissed it.
“I will make you happy I promise.” He said in a whisper before kissing her deeply. She responded by wrapping her arms around his neck. He pinned her up against the railing and she wrapped her leg around his waist and felt his hand traveling up her leg. She let out a moan against his lips. He then picked her up and carried her to the cabin which they were going to stay. He opened the door while kissing her neck. He then used his foot to close the door behind him.
They rekindled the flames of their forever lasting love that night. They vowed that night under the sheets that they would never be apart ever again. Aurora finally was able to fill the empty picture frame with love and joy. Two months later they were happily married. Walter and Aurora happily accepted Liz as their daughter. Finally, after a year of marriage they loving welcomed their daughter Lilac into the world.
a helping hand pt. 8
Oliver Queen x Reader
Tumblr media
part 1 part 2 part 3 part 4 part 5 part 6 part 7
Your nap had been well deserved. Even when it turned from a nap into a full blown sleep through the night. You had spent hours working diligently and edited several articles without distraction. You had been very productive.
Granted the productivity had been to make up for the lack of work you’d done in the past few days. The day of the party you’d accomplished absolutely nothing and the next day had been mostly spent experimenting with sandwiches.
You had really only meant to sleep for an hour and then get up, have dinner, shower, and go to bed properly. It hadn’t worked out that way. Instead you’d just ended up sleeping straight past the hour mark and well into the middle of the night.
And when the little metallic clang outside your window sounded and woke you up you could best be described as groggy.
You leaned over the back of the couch and watched the Green Arrow lift your window open with a dumb dopey smile. Half awake you barely had an idea of what year it was or which planet you happened to be on, but your instinct was to smile.
He huffed at you. “You’re going to get robbed.” He said before his feet had even touched the ground.
“I’ll be okay.” You were going to make a joke about fighting off intruders when a large yawn broke through. You stretched out across the couch, your joints popping satisfyingly.
When you opened your eyes and looked up he was standing beside the couch watching you intently. “I didn’t mean to wake you.” He said quietly.
You shook your head and gestured vaguely to the end of the couch. “Nonsense. Come sit.” You sat up, pulling your legs back to give him room, and pulled your tank top back from where it’d bunched up in your sleep. Another yawn escaped. “What time is it?”
“Sometime around three.” He said. “You fell asleep on the couch?” He hadn’t sat yet, still hovering over the back of the couch.
“It was only supposed to be a little nap.” You shrugged. “Want me to grab you a water?”
He shook his head. “I’ve got it.” And with that he walked over to your kitchen and went straight for the water bottles. He grabbed two then moved back to the couch and took a seat in his spot.
There was still a level of surrealism to your interactions, but it was somewhere in the back of your mind. Everything seemed more and more normal with every visit.
You thanked him when he handed you a bottle. After taking a long drink you turned the news on. “Hiding out? Cops again?”
He sighed. “From my team.”
You furrowed your brow. The way he said it didn’t sound like it was a serious concern, but it was amusing still. Was he avoiding his team of vigilantes the same way a normal person avoided family at holiday gatherings?
“Everything alright?”
“They can be… a lot.”
“Really? A lot like putting on masks and fighting crime a lot?”
He gave that little exhale of breath you knew to mean a laugh.
“Well,” you said, “I’ve only met Ragman and all I can really say is that he's very polite.”
“He is that.” He said, then rolled his shoulders in that particular way he had of getting comfortable.
And just like that the little niggling thought far in the back of your mind snapped to the front. As if a light went on in your head everything suddenly made sense.
You gaped.
“Oliver Queen?”
You might have been able to convince yourself you were insane if his shoulders hadn’t tensed the way they had. In the time that you’d known the Green Arrow you’d gotten very good at reading his nonverbal communication- and it was so clear to you right now.
“It is. I mean- you are.” You tried to set your water bottle down on the coffee table beside you, but without being able to take your eyes off of him kept missing. You were failing at keeping cool.
He leaned over and guided your hand to the coffee table, waiting for you to let go of the bottle before he let go of your wrist. Then he sat back and sighed.
Your heart pounded in your chest as he reached up and pulled back his hood. Even without seeing his hair you already knew. The curve of his jaw, the stubble, the set of his lips. How many times had you see Oliver Queen on the news, even before he’d become mayor?
You should have realized the minute you met him two nights ago. But, then, there was a whole city full of people you were sure knew both the Green Arrow and Oliver Queen and they hadn’t put it together (or maybe they had and you were the actual last numbskull).
He tapped a spot on the chest of his suit, near his throat, then slowly reached up to peal off his mask. He looked at it for a moment, turning the mask in his hands, before looking up at you.
It took you a second to recognize the look in his eyes. He was concerned? Nervous? Worried?
“I won’t tell anyone.” You said quickly. “Nothing’s changed. I swear, I would never tell anyone.”
“I know.” He said. It took a moment to reconcile Oliver Queen’s voice even when you could see his unmasked face- you’d gotten so used to the deep distorted version. But as long as he kept smiling at you like that you figured you could get used to whatever. “I know you wouldn’t.”
“I didn’t even mean to figure it out. I wasn’t try to. It just hit me.” You leaned forward for a moment, your fingers itching to reach out, before you remembered yourself and pulled back. So many thoughts raced through your head, so many questions needing answers. You only just managed to bite your tongue.
He reached over and took your hand. “Hey, I know. It’s okay.”
You sighed and gave his fingers a squeeze before pulling your hand back. Without looking away from him you reached over for the bottle and took several long drinks.
“It’s my fault anyway.” He said. “I just had to go talk to you at the party.”
You grinned at him. “Yeah, a lot makes sense now. My friend Jane was losing her mind about the mayor talking to me. If only she knew.”
“That would be quite a story.”
A thought hit you and you jolted up and slapped his knee lightly. The amused look was back in full force. “The sandwich.” You said. “I’d been trying to figure out how to get you the sandwich we talked about without being weird. But now I can just make it.”
He grinned and the smile felt like so much more than it had before. There was something about the relaxed slump of his shoulders as he sat on your couch in his Green Arrow costume, mask in hand, and smiled.
Something warm bloomed in you.
“So, what do you say?” You asked. “Feel like a 3 A.M. sandwich?”
He leaned forward and set his mask down on the coffee table before speaking. “That sounds wonderful.”
No More Breaks- A Sammy Wilk Imagine
Quick Summary: In this part we meet Y/N, a teenage girl who makes a promise to herself to take a break from dating… That is until Sammy comes into her life.
Warnings: None really, I actually refrained from cursing in this one lol.
“Don’t let the fear of getting your heart broken, stop you from finding something as amazing as love.” “Whatever,” I scoffed. I closed the book that I just read this lame quote from and threw it in my backpack for class tomorrow. We were being forced to read this book about love for drama class. I hate drama class. I’ve tried transferring classes but the only other class available was music–and lets just say I don’t have a musical bone in my body.
I put my hair in a messy bun, and slapped my body against the bed beneath me. I looked up at the ceiling and thought about everything that happened last year. What happened last year?What didn’t happen last year. Well let’s see, long story short, I got my heart broken three times, lost my brother to a dumb college all the way in Paris, and my best friend Hailey moved to Florida, leaving me behind in Omaha.
“What am I doing,” I asked myself out loud. “I’m a 17 year old girl, moping around about 3 no good ex’s, my older brother Tyler who’s on the other side of the world, and frickin’ Hailey who said goodbye over a text message. And I’m talking to myself, might I add,“ I said to no one in particular. “I should be out with my nonexistent friends,” I said covering my face while rubbing my eyes, from being sleepy. Yep, I had no friends. I didn’t need friends. I sit by myself at lunch everyday, and when it’s time to work with a partner for an assignment or whatever, I usually beg my teacher to let me work alone. I pick up my phone and read the time. 11:48 p.m. “Ugh! Where did the time go?” I got under the covers and lay my head down on my pillow, absolutely ready to get a good night’s rest. I stretch my hand over to my lamp and turn it off. It isn’t too long before I begin to doze off. *Beep Beep* *Beep Beep* 6:45 a.m. Time for school aka hell on earth. I stay in bed for what feels like thirty seconds and look back at my clock to see 6:51 a.m. “Shoot! I’m going to be late!” I throw my sheets off of my body that’s not quite awake yet, grab my towel and run to the bathroom. I push the door open and literally rip my pajamas off my body. I jump in the shower and take the quickest shower known to man. I finish my shower and get back to my room. 6:57 a.m. “Okay, I’m on time,” I say out loud. I throw on a random outfit, grab my heavy ass back pack and go downstairs to grab breakfast. Once, I get downstairs I see my mother hovering over the stove, cooking something that smells like the old breakfast diner she used to own. It must be pancakes. “Hey mom,” I say a little too loud. I’m assuming since since she jumped and almost dropped the plate of perfectly made pancakes in her hands. “Oh, hey hon. C'mon breakfast is ready.” I set my bag down on the floor and begin eating the breakfast my mother placed in front of me. As I started eating, she walked over the staircase, tripping over my backpack that laid lazily on the floor. “Y/N, how many times do I have to tell you keep your bag off the floor. I know your taking a break from dating but I didn’t know you were taking a break from listening too.” I was taking a break from dating - but how did she know? I’ve only told my little sister, Maria - nevermind I just answered my own question. Once I finished eating, I picked up my bag from the floor, and threw it over my shoulder, followed by the weight of my bag falling harshly onto my back. Just as I’m about to go upstairs to find out where my sister was, she comes downstairs ready to go. We both kiss mom goodbye and hop in my car to get to school. Whoops, I mean hell on earth. We get there about ten minutes later and I see kids still hustling and bustling outside. Great, we’re not late. Just as I finish my thought, the school bell rings, signaling first period has begun. “I’ll see you during lunch, ok?,” I tell my sister and she nods her head in response. First period: Trigonometry. God, I hate trig. I mean I understand it, but I just hate the teacher. I don’t know he just gives me bad vibes. I sit down in my seat in the back of the room and take out my notebook, when I hear my teacher say, “Class, today we have a lot of work to get done, but first, we have a new student, um Samuel Wilkinson. I don’t believe he has arrived yet, but when he does, Y/N”, he says my name, getting my attention, “he will be sitting next to you, so any questions he may have, I ask you please, to answer them,” he says while picking up piece of chalk and turning his back to begin the lesson. “Oh god”, I say to myself. But wait, if he was the teacher, why was I supposed to answer Samuel’s questions? What am I? His secretary? I proceed writing my notes down when I hear a voice calling to Mr. Dawson, my trig teacher. I look up at the door to see a blond-haired, beautiful eyed boy standing at the door with a note in his hand and a book bag on his back. He hands the note to Mr. Dawson and they whisper to each other a little bit. Mr. Dawson points to the desk next to me and blond-haired boy makes his way over. This must be Samuel. I look over at him to get a good look. I soon realize that I’ve been looking for too long when he looks over at me and flashes a smile. Oh my God, he’s so cute. Ugh, those dimples. I quickly look away and continue jotting down notes that seemed to appear out of nowhere. There is a silence in the room, other than Mr. Dawson explaining himself, when Samuel whispers,“ Hi, I’m Sammy,” flashing that same beautiful smile again. I wanted to melt. What was he doing to me? Boy, do I have a big storm coming. A/N: OMG, this literally took 10 years to get here, but it’s here. I’m so fucking sorry for the long wait. I keep letting you guys down, it’s not okay. I’ll do better I promise 😘 Don’t forget to drop in a request! Love you guys ✌️👋
