we already have people bitching about how “i can’t stand Chani, she’s so annoying 🙄” and “Paul chose Chani to be the mother of his children, Irulan is just at the sidelines eating dust as she should”, like brothers we cannot do this again. We can’t Chani v Irulan our way out of this one because the problem is Paul and the Empire. Gosh, we truly are never getting out of the patriarchy.

thinking how paul will have his eyes melted out of his skull via nuke in the dune messiah movie…excited for the special effects!! and the horror of it all, especially the love scene with him and chani right after with his eyeless sockets that still see everything because prescience is a curse that shackles you…can’t wait for him to walk around eyeless into the trial and tell everyone what they’re wearing that shit is gonna be awesome

something about the first dune movie taking time to depict leto as a man who cared about saving innocents only for his son to then choose to condemn millions of them in his name… something about trying to avenge your father and in the process becoming everything he stood against… honoring your father's memory precisely by betraying it… the restoration of house atreides being heralded by the declaration that "we are harkonnens, so let's be harkonnens"… yeah.

CONFESSION:
I enjoyed Elaadin for a lot of reasons even though I don't normally like desert environments. I wonder if, now that so many people are more familiar with Dune due to the Villeneuve films, more people will catch the Dune references on that planet

Have you watched the Dune movies? What do you find interesting about Paul compared to Darrow? 🤔
I know they are different stories, but...Darrow Supremacy, I guess. Long ago, I read someone copmparing Lysander to Paul, so I am kinda curious.
Oh absolutely Darrow supremacy!
Honestly though, I've only seen Part One for Dune. Haven't gotten around to seeing Part 2 yet because i just Did Not Vibe with the first one at all, so I don't feel qualified to do any in-depth comparison of Paul vs Darrow or Paul vs Lysander beyond personal preferences -
Darrow always draws me in whenever I read an RR book, and even Lysander's chapters still provoke an emotional response, even if it's wanting to reach through the fourth wall and strangle the little pixie. I don't know what it was, but I just felt nothing for Paul in either direction when I watched Part One, and it made me lose interest in watching Part Two.

So yeah we finally went to see the
long awaited cinematic Masterpiece that is Dune: Part 2
and yes there was some collectable goodies with it which
you probably already know what it is but you can see it here.
Now as for the movie I'm not going to say
too much about it I think but I did think it was
really good. It was I thought as good as the fist one.
I would think it would be even better if you watched
the first and the second one back to back instead of having
them spaced out.
We didn't watch the first one
again before going to see this one which we should have done.
I believe some time has passed between the 2 movies
I don't know how much maybe a few months to like maybe a year?
but when the movie starts we are right into the main story
as Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet)
and his mother are now living among the Fremen forces
out in the desert as they continue to halt the spice production
which I think is partly the main conflict of the movie because
the one who controls the Spice controls everything.
As Paul lives among the people
he begins to gain their trust and starts to
full fill the prophecy that he is the chosen one
as he help the people defend their home.
I did feel that this movie was really good and is one
of those movies that going to the theater is worth
seeing on the big screen with the big sound and
everything this was a movie made for the movie going
experience.
Now I feel that the movie was very story driven.
It is very talky in alot of parts like heavy on
the dialogue so you had to pay attention and there was
alot going on even in the moments that seemed kinda quiet.
The action was impressive when there was action it felt
very raw and gritty at time during the action parts and
some what triumphant at the same time.
I do feel the movie was a pretty good mix of
action and non action scenes like everything lead
to some else so it had this nice story progression.
I don't think there was any real slow part to the
movie everything moved at a good pace.
Also visually the movie was impressive
due to its production design, costumes and
character design and the visual effects.
especially the whole sequences with the Sandworms was really cool.
them riding them and of course taking them into
the battle at the end of the movie was really
cool and impressive. I think next year
this will probably be nominated for alot of the
Oscars and most likely alot of the technical ones.
Now the sound was amazing along with the movies score
but I did feel at times that it was the same as the original
when we went to see it that the score was a little to bombastic
where it drowned out any other sound including dialogue.
maybe that was just because of the theater we were in and
it might be different at another screening but at the one
we were at it that was the case.
Now like I said the movie was really good but the only
thing is that it is the middle movie of a trilogy I think
so this one I feel is spending alot of time setting up the
events of the third movie. so it kinda doesn't have its
own thing going on it not a stand alone thing. I feel the
events of the first half is the aftermath of the first movie
the the second half of this is setting up stuff for the third.
So like I said if you were to watch it all back to back it
would make way more sense and I think it would be more enjoyable.
but anyway yeah its great and if you liked the first
one you should defiantly go and see this one.

i think it’d be nice if they did the Dune movies in pairs once every few years so you have; Dune part 1&2, Dune Messiah & Children of Dune then God Emperor of Dune & Heretics of Dune and finally Chapterhouse: Dune if they get that far

Is the Dune books where the idea of a vauable resources being called ‘spice’ came from? I grew up on sic-fi and have heard valuable resources called spice in certain worlds/media.
