my favorite thing about the dune books is the way in which every single character speaks like they are moving through a half-remembered dream and thinks like they are making asides to an audience begging them to do something about it. my least favorite thing about the dune books is that i am still not sure if they’re good.

Dune is such a fantastic trans allegory, especially for trans women. Paul is being raised to fill a role he never really wants, while also having a hidden inner nature that gradually surfaces as the story progresses. And his initial expectations are those of a man, but the place he's really meant to have is a feminine one. I mean, he even takes on more and more feminine traits (as far as the setting is concerned) because of his Bene Gesserit training and testing. It's pretty easy to see his development from Paul the duke's heir to Paul Muad'dib as his egg cracking. He takes on a new name, finds a new community of people who are more like him, gains awareness beyond anything he had ever anticipated. His transformation threatens the (male) establishment as well: since he harnesses the feminine power of his world, it completely undermines the power of his opponents. He even takes a mysterious substance that normally only women are supposed to be able to have and it pushes him to a new level of self-actualization.

Just caught up with Natlan's archon quest and lord help me, I have a burning need to see Alhaitham and Ororon interact.

I truly feel that they would vibe perfectly. Not in a ship way, but like, in the way of Kaveh quietly wailing: "For archons' sake, he's brought another tacky thing into the house. Traveler, please do something; they've been staring eye to eye over the coffee table for like an hour now but haven't said a single word. I don't know what to do. Send help."

I've been playing through Earthbound for the first time recently I'm having a lot of fun with it. The skyrunner sequences are a standout bit in my brain for some reason, so I decided to try drawing one of them.

In general I really like Dusty Dunes desert also, the music is great and the monkey dungeon is 'memorable', to sat the least lmao. I might draw more Earthbound stuff, we'll see.
