Thorin and his tiny son <3

I think Thorin would definitely take Frodo everywhere, even meetings. So just imagine a very serious and important king with a tiny child in his arms!

“It’s hard to believe he’s a year old,” Bilbo sighed, one arm hooking through one of Thorin’s, and a hand reaching out to wiggle at one of Frodo’s feet, helping to contribute to the reason for the dwobbit’s giggles. “It feels like just yesterday that Frodo came into our lives.”

And what an adventure that had been.

An adventure that had started with the innocent intention of simply planting that acorn that Bilbo had held onto all this time. Only when the ground was fertile and recovered from the battle a few years prior had he felt that the little seed would thrive. To grow strong into a big protective oak to watch over Erebor, much like the king himself. And after having planted that seed together hand in hand and atop a pile of dirt, Yavanna had been gracious.

The acorn had sprouted, and as months went by, that little sprout was tended to with all the love that a parent might give their child, whether it was Thorin or Bilbo, it never went without proper watering or even just company. And over time, the gift of that acorn was far more than that of a tree beginning to take root - but a blessing that Bilbo didn’t think was meant for him or Thorin.

"Ah yes, you're a proper Baggins now, dear Morpheus or Lorien or Irmo or whatever name you'd like to choose. Tea is at 4, if you please."

"...Bilbo, ghivashel, did we just turn one of the Valar into a.... dwobbit?"

"I find myself rather partial to the idea. My husband would make an excellent dwobbit himself."

"Well, of course that husband of yours is welcome to join us! We have recipes to swap!"

They’d be planting all the acorns and dwobbits would quickly become the dominate species in Middle Earth

Dwobbit Frodo AU:

Okay so my friends have been posting a LOT of dwobbit Frodo lately and it's been giving me ideas...

So in this one, Bilbo went back to the Shire, had Frodo, Thorin has no idea. A few years down the road he decides it would be best for Frodo to meet his other father, and he's finally ready to forgive Thorin. So he loads up his belongs and son, riding off for Erebor. Only he never gets there...

Meanwhile, Thorin has been missing his hobbit, and finally can't take it. He and a small company ride for the Shire only to happen upon what looks like a goblin attack in the Misty Mountains. It looks like there were no survivors until Thorin manages to dig out a small scared hobbit child from the rubble (Frodo!).

So the main plot is that Thorin has no idea the hobbit he rescued (and is trying to return to the Shire) is his son, but starts to fall in love with him anyways. And when he reaches the Shire and learns that was Bilbo's caravan he passed, he refuses to believe the hobbit is dead, deciding to embark on a rescue mission to bring him home.

A beard

This is a fanfic for fictober. Just wanted to try and write somthing tbh. (Post BOTFA, Parentshield, dwobbit Frodo) SORRY FOR SPELLING ERRORS!

Bilbo (as useall) spent his afternon's with a hot cup of tea. Sitting in his armchair, reading a book and lisening to the fire crackling.

But then a knock at the door was heard. Expecting it to be his husband coming back earlier form the Wednesday meltings, Bilbo gladly answered.

"Come inn."

The door opened, but instead of his husband, he saw his son standing in the doorway.

"Oh, hello dear. Arent you suposed to be in lesons with Balin now? Did you skip agein? I told you not to lisen to your cousins-"

"No Papa, I got permisjon from mister Balin. I just need to talk to you about something." Frodo reassured his hobbit father.

"Oh ok then, ask away my boy." Bilbo said, waving his son into the room. And patting the armchair next to him.

"You know how im both Hobbit and Dwarf?" Frodo asked.

"Yes Frodo, i am your father." Bilbo said with a look that told the boy that what he'd just asked, was a stupid question.

"And you know how dwarfs grow beards?" Frodo asked, yet again.

"Get to the point my boy" Bilbo answered with a half annoyed look.

"Right, sorry. Well I have started to grow facial hair." Frodo said looking down at his feet.

"Congratulation!" Bilbo said, thinking this was a good thing. But judging by the look on his sons face, it wasn't.

"Is there something wrong Frodo dear?" Bilbo asked.

"Well, I kinda dont...want a beard.." Frodo hesitatingly said, looking down at his feet.

"Oh, but thats ok my boy. You can just shave it." Bilbo answered.

"Thats the thing. I don't know how.." Frodo said looking up at his Papa.

"Im sorry to disapoint you Frodo, but I dont eather. Hobbits dont grow any other hair then that on our head and feet." He said, wiggling his toes a bit.

"But you should ask your adad. He is a dwarf afterall." Bilbo said.

"Thats also a problem, I dont want to ask him." Frodo said, looking away from his father agein.

"And why is that?" Bilbo looked puzzled. Frodo has never been afraid of asking his dwarf father about anything before.

"I know how inportent beards are for dwarfs. I just dont want to disapoint him." Frodo answered. Bilbo plased a hand on his sons shoulder.

"Dont be afraid to ask him Frodo. Your adad loves you no matter what you should choose to do." Bilbo said.

"Are you sure Papa? What if he gets mad." Frodo said. He knows his adad could get pretty angry. Especially when King Thranduil is on a wisit.

"Look I know better then anyone how intimidating your other father can be. But when it comes to his family, he will always suport us." Bilbo said, looking at his son in the most reassuring way he could muster.

"Alright, I'll ask him. Thank you Papa." Frodo finally said. Giving his papa a hug and getting a kiss on the cheek in return. Then storming out the door to find his other father.

After both looking and asking around. He finally found his father deep in conversation with Dwalin at a table in the royal halls. Thorin spotted his son standing in the doorway and smiled.

"At least his in a good mood" Frodo thought.

"Inúdoy! Come, sitt." Thorin patted the place next to him on the bench he was sitting on.

"Hello adad, mister Dwalin." Frodo nodded to the bald dwarf while sitting down.

"My prince." Dwalin bowd his head in reply.

"Aren't you suposed to be in lesons with Balin right now? Did Fili and Kili get you to skip lesons agein. Those boys never learn-"

"No no adad! Mister Balin lett me skip." Frodo said, stopping his father, before he could make even more assumptions about his cousins.

"I just wanted to talk to you, alown if its ok." Frodo asked.

"Of course, Dwalin I'll catch up with you later." Thorin said. Dwalin bowd to them both and took his leave.

As soon as the door closed Frode turned to his dwarven father.

"Adad, as you know im soon becoming of age." Frodo said, Thorin nodded.

"And I have started to grow facial hair."

Thorin looked suprised by this, but settled down and lett his son continue.

Frodo hesitated for a moment.

"Im sorry, but I dont want a beard. Though I know how inportent beards are for dwarfs. And I should be honerd to be growing one but it just dosent feel like me. I've talking to Papa but he said that it was ok, but since he's a hobbit he doesn't know how to shave. Which is why I have to talk to you. But if you are disapointed in me i completely understand. Im sorry!" Frodo was a little out of breath after all that. Thorin looked suprised, but his expression slowly changed. Though Frodo couldn't tell if it was a positiv og negativ one, damm his father and his unbearable face expressions. But then the young dwabbit was swoped into a warm embrace by his adad. Making him realise that this was infact a positiv respons.

"Its ok inúdoy. Its your decision to make, i wount be angry at you. With or without a beard, you'll be my son eatherway." Frodo hugged his father tight and smiled into his warm fur coat.

"Beards may be inportent to dwarfs. But remember, you are only half dwarf. None will judge you for not wanting facial hair." Thorin said.

"Will you help me shave then adad?" Frodo asked, his voice muffled by the fur.

"Of course I will son."

I've heard this headcannon once or twice saying that Hobbit's sleep in piles. So i had to interpret that but with Thorin, Bilbo and Frodo, in the end i had the fluffiest family feels doodle ever.

I think Frodo would definitely be a kicker when he sleeps. And when he's sleeping with Bilbo and Thorin and gets out of control with his kicking (Thorin being his main victim), he has to get carried back into his own bed.

Thorin would snore, especially when hes comfortable and is feeling safe. When he snores, he's probably also having the best sleep ever. Bilbo got used to dwarrow snoring while travelling with thirteen of them and Frodo's a heavy sleeper (he could sleep upside down if he wanted) so it never became a problem.

I wasn’t planning on doing anything for Hobbit Day (Happy Birthday Bilbo & Frodo!) but here we are!! I hope you enjoy this little thing I put together in celebration of some very beloved characters, centered around Bagginshield (or rather, Parentshield!)

“Sorry to keep you all waiting. Working so closely with the Greenskeepers Guild has been…tough.” Exhausting was more like it, but Bilbo wasn’t going to complain too much. At least not until later when he was in the safety of his husband’s arms. “You needn’t apologize, Kurdûn,” Thorin cooed, not moving his head any as he felt the circles of comfort being rubbed into his back. Nothing was greater than Bilbo’s touch, it always brought a wave of serenity into any situation. “We have been waiting patiently…sort of. Frodo has been very fussy up until a few moments ago. I’d say you missed the worst of it.” Peering around Thorin’s shoulder and seeing why the dwarf was so stationary, Bilbo could feel a heartwarming blush bloom across his cheeks and nose. The small source of that fussiness that Thorin had been speaking of was laying across the table in a little basket with one hand firmly gripped onto one of Thorin’s hair braids with the bead wedged into his mouth. “He looks quite happy to me.” “Because you’re here,” Thorin chuckled low, waggling a finger towards the small pebble’s chin and cheek to not only get his hair released but to try and spur a small giggle from the blue-eyed menace.

Starting of the new year with a lil Dwobbit Frodo of my own, this just might be the most precious bagginshield headcanon! 🌱 this fandom is so sweet! 💚

I need to draw them all together next!

The fact that he's technically one of the Valar does not prevent Bilbo Baggins from adopting Dream of the Endless as one of his dwobbits. Dream actually doesn't mind it one single bit.

He's always in time for tea, of course, often with his husband in tow.

Another flurry of boots in the hall resolved when Thorin rushed in, looking haggard and worried. When he saw Frodo calmly curled up over Bilbo's lap he released a visible breath of relief. Immediately Thorin was there, crouched next to them, covering them with his great body and curtaining them with his hair. He kissed Frodo’s head and nuzzled his dark curls with a painfully relieved expression. When he opened his red-rimmed eyes Bilbo recognized a depth of pain and love to match his own. It was the face of a father. Something settled in Bilbo's heart, like a piece falling into place. He sighed and gave Thorin a small smile, watching as his eyes widened in surprise. Bilbo’s hand slid up Frodo’s back and clasped Thorin’s warm wrist where he cradled the boy’s skull. “He’s okay.”

So I guess as a reward to myself for having two works I beta read released today (Go check out the 2024 Thorin's Spring Forge collection!), one of which was a whopping 65k and a really marvelous secret dwobbit story (A Necklace of Teeth by Wolfsbane_and_Nettles, highly recommend!), I decided to polish up the last of this chapter that's been sitting since mid-March (sorry) and get it posted!  Whee!

What do you think a dwobbit would look like? Or a dwelf, for that matter? I frequently wonder

It might not be up to date with my current headcanons but here is a pretty old old sketch of a hobbit (not Bilbo haha) with his dwobbit daughters! But I also have a lot of thoughts about this stuff which I may share at a later date.
