Undertale - Platonic Yandere Toriel
Toriel has had a rough life. It started sweet, at least. Married the love of her life and becoming the ruler of the Underground alongside Asgore, and had her first born, Asriel. Only for a couple years later to have met her second child, the fallen human, Chara. Life in the Underground was good, working alongside her husband to keep monsterkind happy and hopeful. It was tough work, but seeing the smiles of her people made it all worthy for her. And yet, it was all taken away from her claws when Chara fell sick. Asriel, devastated by such an event, absorbed Chara’s soul and left the underground. Only to end up dead from his injuries from the human village, Chara’s village.
Toriel, overtaken by grief, left Asgore the moment he installed the new law for the Underground. For all humans to be killed and their souls to be used as the keys necessary to break the magical barrier and free monsterkind.
Toriel lived a calm yet solitary life in the Ruins. Even though she had the company of fellow monsters who stayed behind with her, plus the fun jokes for the unknown voice from outside the Ruins, she was still consumed by the loneliness and isolation. Eventually you run out of conversation topics with those around you, reading the same books over and over again becomes tiring and even the funny banter between her anonymous friend has become stale.
And yet, one day, a new human fell down Mt. Ebott. And another, and another, and another. Every child that fell was protected and taking care of by her, with all the love and warmth she once gave to Asriel, Chara and her subjects. But despite all her efforts, all of them left. They left the ruins, her home. They left her. Until a new human fell down.
- Yandere Toriel whose original intention was to protect you and teach you the ways of the Underground, just like any other human child that has fallen before. Yet, you seemed a bit different.
- You, who was so patient and sweet to Toriel. You would always listen to everything she said and would share her interests in reading, cooking, snails and jokes! Accompanying her in these activities and eating her special pie recipe!
- You, who brought a new light to the fellow monsters in the Ruins, running around and playing games with the Froggits, having conversations with the rocks, comforting and making the Whimsums smile, bantering with the Looxs, having picnics with the Vegetoids, hanging out with the Migosp (and giving their personal space when they needed), waiting for the Mice to exit their home, listening to music and spending time with Napstablook, conversing with the Dummy (although they stay silent) and with the spiders from the Bake Sale (plus buying some sweets from them, as well)!
- Yandere Toriel who realizes that she can’t let you go. You are the reason why the ruins are so lively! She, alongside the other monsters, haven’t felt this happy in so long! Thus, one night, when you are resting in your bedroom, Toriel and the other residents of the Ruins have a chat and reach a conclusion. All the other monsters agree with her, she must destroy the entrance so you’ll stay forever.
- Yandere Toriel who convinces you to stay the entire day outside of Home and hang out with the other monsters! All of them have tons of things to do today, won’t you play with them? Ruins’s monsters who insist on you staying outside Home, and not to worry about whatever Toriel is occupied with!
- Sweet, adorable you that doesn’t realize what’s happening until a huge explosion is heard deeper within the Ruins, near Home! Silly human child who runs towards Home to make sure Toriel is safe and sound, and that no other monsters got hurt in the process! Little you who finds Toriel deep in the basement, with the once pristine door that lead to the outside, completely destroyed with rocks covering the entrance.
- Yandere Toriel who finally looks at you after giving you her back. She is smiling, a grin so wide it makes you shiver. She gets close to you, and even though you have the instinct to back away, you let her hug you tightly. After a few moments of silence, she finally whispers “Now we will be together forever, my child. Mommy and the others will look after you, no need to be afraid”
- Yandere Toriel who will host a party at Home where everyone is invited, to commemorate such a happy occasion! Their human will stay with them forever, they’ll bring them happiness for years to come!

This script got unexpectedly long so I ended up cutting it in half, I didn’t want to put myself through another 8000+px one again, haha.
Anyway, I always figured Boss Monsters were more like a type of monster rather than a species, so you could have Boss Skeletons, Boss Goats, Boss Dogs, Boss Temmies, that kind of thing. They were usually in charge of the many other kingdoms around the Goat kingdom of Mt. Ebott (Gaster mentions a Skeleton kingdom in his book), but they all fell during the War, with the survivors taking refuge in the Goat kingdom before they were all sealed underground. I never found a good place to put all this background lore...
A popular headcanon is that skeletons are very long-lived for monsters, but I’ve never really ascribed to it, haha. I think they have the same lifespan of most monsters, so none of them should be alive after all this time unless they were Boss Monsters (what about Gerson? Gerson’s a turtle, they’re basically immortal to begin with), thus why Asgore snaps to that conclusion. He’s too distracted to think about why he doesn’t remember there being a boss skele named Gaster though...
(Does this mean the brothers were aging him after he created them? Yes! Are they still aging him now? Hmmmmm)

A few new confirmed wordplays in Undertale
There are several clever wordplays in Undertale that fans have found as well as a bit of debate about which ones were actually intended when making the game and which ones were just fans overthinking things.
I’ve already mentioned in another post the “Asriel Dreemurr” = “Serial Murderer” anagram having been confirmed to have been intended by Toby in the book.
Tumblr media
But there are actually a few more word plays that were shared as having been made on purpose in the Localisation book.
The first one is determination itself actually being a pun, the power to “undo death”.
Or in other words, “de-termination”
Tumblr media
And along with it, we can safely claim the same about “but it refused” (re-fused. The soul literally refuses together.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In addition, of all the theorised Undertale word plays, that following one was always seen as a bit more of a stretch, but it too was in fact intentional after all. The name Mt.Ebott was made from “Toby” backwards.
Toby => Tobe => Ebot => Ebott
Tumblr media
Its also based on EarthBound and Itoi, who also had a mountain named after himself in his game.

Toriel vs Asgore: The Winter Alliance
Tumblr media
Toriel refuses to let Asgore get that final soul...
After the death of the 6th human, Toriel rises from the Ruins and declares a civil war against Asgore; any monsters who are actually AGAINST the idea of a second war will join the Queen's side...
A third of the Kingdom takes Toriel's side and those that agree with Toriel reside in the Ruins and Snowdin, while those that stay loyal to Asgore live in Waterfall and Hotlands...
The monsters that have joined Toriel's side in Snowdin are called the 'Winter Alliance'...
The monsters that still want a war on humanity are called the 'Ebott Beasts'...
Queen Toriel: Toriel is still a kind monster deep down, but when she started the Civil War, she begins to act stoic and cold to hide how depressed she truly is... She only allows Frisk and those that she's closest with see her true colors (like Papyrus and Sans)... She's even more protective of Frisk then in Canon and she rivals Undyne in stubborness when it comes to Frisk wanting to leave... She's still angry at Asgore, but she's more self-aware of her own mistakes... She's also outraged that Asgore did nothing, when Gerson changed the history books on Asgore's side to make it sound like Chara was an adopted monster, not a human...
King Asgore: Asgore is even more depressed and quiet then he is in canon... Seeing his wife again and trying to start a civil war in the Kingdom has made him a shell of his former self... Unlike Toriel, he isn't able to hide how miserable he is anymore... He spends most of his time either gardening, doing paper work or trying to talk with Toriel during meetings... He actually agrees with Toriel and wants the war to stop... But he's being pressured by his Kingdom, especially Gerson and Undyne and the Royal Guard, to get the final soul...
*Here are some of the monsters that have joined Toriel's side:
Papyrus: (Was originally on Asgore's side, but after hearing the stories of both races living peacefully, he joins Toriel's side with his brother following him...)
Most of the Ruins' Monsters
Grillby and his Family
Greater Dog
Lesser Dog
Rabbit Shop Keeper
Rabbit Inn Keeper
Gift Bear
Politics Bear
Scarf Mouse
Red Demon
Slime Family
Ice Wolf
Snowdin's Library Workers
Snowdrake's Family
Chilldrake
Ice Cap
Gyftrot
Some of Muffet's Spider Family
Jerry (Oh, the irony...)
River Person
Sans: (Technically he's neutral, but he lives in Snowdin with Papyrus...)
Flowey: (Technically he's neutral, but he usually lives in the Ruins...)
*And here are some that are still loyal to Asgore:
Gerson: (Is one of the monsters that changed the history books on Asgore's side to make it sound like Chara was an adopted monster, not a human... So, the monsters born on Asgore's side would be less encouraged to join the Winter Alliance... Although, some still decide to join anyway and then later learn the truth... Undyne is one of the monsters that believes in this propoganda... Gerson and Undyne are the main reasons why Asgore hasn't surrendered to Toriel yet...)
Undyne: (Very loyal to the side of the Ebott Beasts and Asgore's Royal Guard Captain... Views the whole Winter Alliance as traitors... Becomes enraged and heartbroken when Papyrus joins Toriel's side...)
Alphys: (Even though she's technically part of the Ebott Beasts and Asgore's Scientist... A part of her is starting to want to join Toriel's side... But she doesn't want to leave Mettaton or for Undyne to view her as a traitor, like the Captain already does with Papyrus...)
The Rest of the Royal Guard
Mettaton: (Pretends to be an Ebott Beast, but he's technically on his own side... and the side of humanity... because he wants to be seen as a famous hero by them...)
Muffet: (Even though she lives on Asgore's side of the Kingdom, she's technically only on the side of her own species...)
Monster Kid's Family: (But Monster Kid joins Toriel's side, after meeting Frisk...)
Napstablook (Technically he's neutral, but he still lives in Waterfall...)
Most of the monsters that live in Waterfall and Hotlands...
...
When Frisk arrives, the child has a harder time convincing Toriel to let him try leaving the mountain then in canon...
Toriel tells Frisk that he can leave Snowdin, if he can defeat all the traps in the frozen forest as well as defeat all her monsters in battle...
When Frisk does this, Toriel gives them a sword, a shield and some armor for extra protection (which Frisk can decide whether to use it or not)...
Flowey pretends to be Toriel's and Frisk's friend...
Toriel tells Flowey to be 'Frisk's guardian' and he agrees (he just wants to get Asgore's harvested human souls)...
If Frisk resets, the child is still forced to take Flowey with him, cause Flowey tells Frisk that nobody will believe the child saying that Flowey is evil... plus, Flowey is the only one that can protect Frisk from Undyne's chasing spears and Mettaton's TV Traps...

Hi! How would the tale and swap bros react to an s/o who practices the occult? Like, doing rituals, summoning demons and spirits and stuff like that.
Sans:
Thumbs up
He doesn’t really care all too much. Sans is pretty happy to just let you indulge in your hobbies
Heck you could probably offer him as sacrifice and he wouldn’t be all too bothered
At least until an actual demon pops up, then he’s a little concerned
Sans isn’t too keen on actually getting sold to a demon so those sort of date nights end pretty quickly
Papyrus:
Papyrus is pretty enthusiastically going along with you
He fully gets into it as well
You have to stop Papyrus from showing up at your house in some long dark occult robe he found
So long as your occult stuff doesn’t actually hurt anyone or anything Papyrus is happy to let you be you
Blue:
Blues a little concerned at first, to be fair, occult generally doesn’t get a very good public wrap
Once he kinda observes you just doing your thing, summoning spirits and stuff, he’s okay with it
He does try and get you to summon dead victims of cases he’s working on
Kinda hard to defend yourself when the dead spirit of the person you murdered is standing right there accusing you of it
Suddenly Ebott becomes a much safer city, hm, I can imagine its because of the police skeleton with the occult s/o who keeps summoning the spirits of those murdered
Stretch:
Oh, my, god
This is his greatest dream come true
Stretch reads way too many books so he’s got all these crazy ideas
It’s probably the most energetic he’s been in a long time
You let him join in ONE time and he somehow manages to summon the goat man
By the end of that night, the world is minus one goat man and Stretch now owns a random bridge in the U.S

SMG4 Tale
Tumblr media
Chapter 1: Falling Down
What was supposed to be a nice day for a hike in the forest had turned into a constant headache thanks to Mario's whining and complaining. Five minutes in and the Italian was throwing out the common excuses of
"Mario's feet hurt!"
"Mario is-a too tired! Someone carry him!"
"Mario's hungry! Can we go back to the castle?"
"Go on...without...Mario...*cough*"
This was all just because Mario hated getting his exercise and would rather watch TV or eat a plate of spaghetti than go outside. Smg4 was absolutely fed up already as he groaned and told his best friend "Mario, we've only been walking for five minutes." Meggy sighed and tried to convince him "Come on Mario. It's not that bad. It's good to get the fresh air in your lungs and look at nature."
"Pffff what is Mario? A caveman?"
To be honest, Smg4 wasn't sure about this either. It was nice to spend time with his friends, but he could be working on his latest video right now. Those memories of being chased around in the woods at night, only to find out the watermelon man was Melony's dad. And all those horror games Mario forced him to play where they would throw the classic situation of walking around in a spooky forest with nothing, but a flashlight.
He was snapped out of his thoughts when Meggy suddenly stopped and said "Uh Smg4...has this mountain always been here?" The other two came up to see what she was looking at. There stood a giant mountain that looked oddly familiar, but Four couldn't remember from where. "I don't think so. It seems a little tall to be from around here." Mario approached the mountain and began kicking the base, screaming "Move you stupid rock!" You're blocking the way!" Meggy looked around and said "It's too wide to go around so I guess we'll have to climb it."
"Uggggg Mario doesn't want to!" Smg4 motioned "I second that. This thing could take hours to climb." Meggy didn't listen and started up. "Come on guys. Let's just check it out for a second. If it's too tall we can just head back." The boys watched her, still unsure as Four sighed. It wouldn't hurt to take a quick peek...right? He carefully followed Meggy behind with Mario's brain still stuck on a loading screen.
"Hey! Wait for Mario!" Both had already taken off. Didn't this seem a little weird? Climbing a strange mountain that didn't belong. Maybe they should have just booked it out of there, but these intrusive thoughts of Four were telling him to make his way up there. Mario tried to catch up with his friends, refusing to be left out. He then noticed a sign that was poking out of the ground on one of the cliffs and Mario stopped.
Mario's face began to melt into panic as he studied the message. The walls felt like they were closing in, until everything went back to normal and Mario shrugged. "Sorry Mr sign, but Mario doesn't like to read. Oh well." He continued on his merry way while the sign said "WARNING: Do not go into the cave at the top of Mt Ebott. Those who climb this mountain have never returned. I repeat, DO NOT GO INTO THE CAVE AT ALL COSTS!" Meggy and Four were almost to the top at a steady pace while Mario was racing to beat them.
He used the umping abilities he developed over the course of many games to quickly get to the top. "Hey! Don't leave Mario-" All of them were looking down a giant opening in the ground. "Ooooo look! A strange hole in the ground!" Meggy was curious, wondering "How far down do you think it goes?" It seemed foolish to test it. I mean there was some vines and small cliffs you could use to climb down a little. You'd have to be someone really stupid or gullible to even try to go down there. Then Mario got an idea. An awful idea. Mario got a wonderfully, awful idea.
"I don't know and I don't want to find out." Four then noticed that Mario was looking at him with a conniving grinch face. "Mario dares Smg4 to climb down that hole."
"WHAT!? NO! WHAT HAPPENS IF I FALL!?" Meggy nodded and said "He's right Red. That's not very safe." Mario didn't listen and began teasing Four to get him to go down. "You're being a whiny baby Smg4. Just climb down to that platform...unless you're too scared." Now this was Four's weakness. That and a million other things. But every time someone challenged or pressured him to do something, he never missed an opportunity to prove them wrong. "I'm not scared!"
Mario was not thinking of the dangers at all and continued with the banter. "Oh lookie Meggy! Smg4 is scared! He's too chicken to climb down!" Mario began mocking him by making chicken noises and laughing at him. "You're afraid of the dark! You're afraid of heights! You're afraid to go alone!"
"No..."
"Stop it Mario!"
Neither of them were paying attention to her as Four wasn't sure what to do. It was made pretty clear you would be stuck if you fell, but all Mario was asking him to do was jump down to a platform that was a few meters away. The teasing and laughter got the better of him as he told them "Fine! I'll prove it! Watch me!"
"What are you doing Smg4!?" Meggy questioned as he reasoned "I'm not going to let him call me chicken! Let me just get it over with and then we'll leave." Four grabbed a nearby vine and started climbing down. His friends watched him, Mario in excitement and Meggy in concern. Carefully he swung over to the ledge that was pointed out to him and he leaned his back up against the wall. A few minutes later, he called out "Alright! I did it! I'm coming up now!" Meggy breathed a sigh of relief as Four started heading back up.
All was going well until he felt a tug on his foot. "Huh?" He looked down and saw his foot caught in a vine on the ledge. He struggled, but it was really tangled and the plant had a strong grip. "Uh...timeout guys. I've got a problem here." Meggy bended over and saw the issue. She facepalmed and said "I knew this was a bad idea."
"Wut?" She pointed a finger in the Italian's face and said "Because of your stupid dare, Four is stuck!" Mario looked down, noticing Four tussling to pull the vine off. "Uh oh..." Meggy wanted to slap herself again, but consoled Four's nerves by telling him "Hang on Four! We'll find something to pull you up." They began tying vines together to make a rope. Four kept struggling when he thought he heard a snap. His eyes widened and he looked down to see the vine he was caught in was starting to break. "Hurry guys! I don't know how long this vine will last!"
"And...done!" The two of them thew the rope of vines down and called out "Grab this!" Four reached his hand out to grab the rope, but it was too late. The vine had snapped into pieces and Four lost his balance, sending him falling down the hole. "SMG4! NOOOOOOO!" Mario cried out, extending his arm. Meggy held her hands over her mouth in horror. They were speechless, tears fighting to get out.
Meggy's trembling hands clenched into fists as she swung around and yelled "MARIO YOU IDIOT! THIS IS ALL YOU FAULT! IF YOU HADN'T MADE THAT STUPID BET WITH HIM, THEN FOUR WOULD BE OKAY! BUT HE'S GONE NOW! HE'S GONE AND-"  Mario took back the dumb things he said in great regret and said "Mario's so so sorry! He just meant it as a funny joke! He didn't mean to make Smg4 fall! Pinky swear!" Forcing Four to do something so stupid and reckless. How could he have done that to his best friend?
"Smg4 will be okie dokie right?" She sniffed and said "I don't know Mario." She carefully got up and said with a croaking voice "But maybe we can still save him. Let's go home right now and get out friends to form a rescue party." Mario definitely agreed to that plan, ready to fix this mess, but he still found himself just staring down the hole. Who knows what could be happening to Smg4 right now. Whatever it was, Four was going to be incredibly pissed once he got out. Meggy could sense Mario's deep worry and placed a hand on his shoulder. They started to head down the mountain as Meggy called out "Don't worry Smg4! We'll get you help! Just stay right there!"
...
"Ugh...what happened?"
Four opened his eyes as he felt a slim ray of light on his face. It took him a while to gain back his memories, but then it all came flooding back to him. Mario had dared him to jump down and he had stupidly agreed. God, what was he thinking? Why didn't he think this through? Sitting up, he felt something underneath him. A bed of beautiful golden flowers on a patch of grass. Is this why he didn't die? I mean, the fall was pretty far down. Four observed more of his surroundings and saw a hallway past the flowers. The added darkness made it a little creepy.
"Oh absolutely not! I'll take my chances climbing out of here instead!" Four instantly sprung out of the bed that had saved his life. Not even one bit of gratefulness. He was probably too blinded by sheer panic. Desperately, he tried grabbing onto the wall and scrambling his way up in hopes of escaping, but he kept slipping off. It wouldn't work anyway. The opening was way too far away for someone to climb their way to escape. His next option...screaming!
Hey began yelling as loud as he could "MARIO!? MEGGY!? ARE YOU THERE!?" No response. Maybe someone else nearby would hear him. He began calling out the names of his other friends, wishing anyone would answer and help him. "SMG3!? TARI!? SAIKO!? BOOPKINS!? BOB!? SOMEONE!? ANYONE!?" He kept screaming to the point that his voice became quite hoarse. Slowly he rested his head against the cold, cavernous wall and whimpered. He slid down to the ground and buried himself in his knees, whispering "Please...someone...help me..."
Suddenly...he heard...a voice?
Smg4 tilted his head up and glanced down the hallway, hearing someone mumbling. He couldn't quite make out who it was, but at least it could be someone who would help him. He stood up and forced himself to go through the dark hallway. As he got closer, the mumbling got louder.
"Finally...someone has finally fell down..."
"The final pure soul I need...."
At the end of the hall was a huge doorway that held a room with nothing, but a small patch of grass in the middle. Four peeked his head around to see an ominous figure standing on that little spot and worked up the courage to investigate. "Uh...hello?" He reached his hand out shakily to the person while he thought "Is this a bad idea?"
The guy looked behind him as he jumped back in surprise. Four pulled his arm back, but he still couldn't see the stranger clearly because of the lighting. "Who are you?" Finally, the person sighed and stepped out into the light, offering a warm smile. Four was suddenly taken aback as he instantly knew who this was.
"NILES!?"
Niles waved and said "Howdy new friend! I'm Niles! Niles the Meme Guardian! Well, actually an artificial one, but it's fine!" His smile looked a little fake when he said that last part. Smg4 was at a lost for words as he stuttered "B-But w-we defeated you! I thought you died!" Niles looked at him confused and said "You must be new here to the underground. Aren't you?"
"Um...I guess so?"
Niles made a playful shrug and said "You must be so confused." This time Four shot back in a more stern tone "Actually, I have no idea what the heck is going on here!" Niles thought to himself for a moment and told Four "Someone must teach you how things work around down here!" He looked around as if he was checking to see if anyone was there when he knew he was the only one. "I guess you're stuck with me! Ready?"
"NO!"
"Here we go!"
He snapped his fingers and Four suddenly felt a strange feeling inside him. He looked down and saw a heart that was glowing bright red in his body. "What the hell!? What did you do to me!?" Niles ignored his anger and pointed at it. "See that heart? That is your soul. The very culmination of your being!" Four looked at him in displeasure and rolled his eyes. "Yeah. No kidding Sherlock, but why is it glowing?"
Niles ignored him again and continued on. "Your soul starts off weak, but you can grow strong if you gain a lot of LV." Four started to ask him "What does L-" but Niles already knew what he was going to say and told him "What does LV stand for you ask? Why LOVE of course!" Four gave him a deer in headlights look when Niles inched closer to him, making things really awkward. "You want some LOVE don't you?" Four began to tense up. Was Niles seriously hitting on him or was he just having a weird dream because of the fall?
"Don't worry! I'll share some with you!" Niles gave him a playful wink and made a stance like a video game character posing. Okay...things were getting really freaky now. He then created a bunch of glowing balls that was most certainly meme energy. "Down here, LOVE is shared through these little round orbs." Was Niles playing him like a fool? Smg4 was a meme guardian too y'know.
Niles directed the spheres around him and instructed the blue eyed man "Move around! Get as many as you can!" Smg4 was beyond confused on why Niles would try to get him to interact with his meme energy, but he shrugged it off. Eh...why not? Hopefully it would transport him out of this hellhole. He reached out and touched one, but was immediately shocked by a course of pain. "OW!"
Niles started laughing and said "YOU IDIOT! In this world, it's kill or be killed!" Four became incredibly panicked when he saw Niles' eyes turn to red and he flashed an evil smile. Four tried to run back out the door, but multiple orbs blocked his path. "Why would anyone pass up an opportunity like this!?" The balls of evil energy closed in on Four, surrounding him until he was trapped with no way out. "DIE."
He laughed manically as the orbs drew closer and closer. Four couldn't bear to watch this and shut his eyes tight, screaming out "SOMEONE HELP!" The spheres were about to attack him when out of nowhere they just...disappeared? Niles tilted his head in confusion while Four opened one eye to see what happened.
Just then, another seeping ball of light came from behind Niles and knocked him into the wall. Four kept staring at the unconscious man before a girl emerged from the shadows. "What a terrible creature, torturing such a poor, innocent boy..." Smg4 whipped his eyes around when he recognized that voice. "Ah, do not be afraid sir. I am Melony, the caretaker of the Ruins." Four was instantly overjoyed that one of his friends had finally come to save him. He rushed up and threw his arms around her, crying "Melony! I'm so glad to see you!"
She warmly smiled at him and said "Of course. I pass through this place everyday to see if anyone has fallen down." He slowly let go as she told him "You are the first one to come here in a long time." Four's smile soon faded when he realized something. "How did you get down here?"
"What do you mean? I've lived her for ages! But that's besides the point. Come! I will guide you through the catacombs." Melony turned around and signaled him to follow her with a wavering hand. "This way." She went through another doorway in front of her as Four ran after her. "Wait!"
Little did Four know, this was the beginning of a long journey...

what is your personal take on frisk-centric angst? I love a good creechur silly goofy frisk, I hold them very dear, but then I think abt an unattended child who falls into a mountain and? Has nobody to go home to after escaping?? It would seem? And I think ohh... poor kiddo.....
yes yes yes YES YES. listen i understand people who want their faves coddled and cozed and who feel bad when they suffer, but i am of the olde schoole of torture your darlings so i eat that shit up!!!! though instead of frisk-centric i usually prefer to see their angst through the lenses of another character acting as an observer. sans or toriel or papyrus, or flowey and chara too.
i like to hc that frisk was homeless before climbing mt ebott. not orphaned, their parents are still out there, but either they were abandoned or they ran away from home. if chara's abuse was more actice/violent, then frisk's was passive, out of neglect rather than brute force.
honestly it's been a while since i did anything with the sans rp blog, but the way me and tali set the conflict up for that version of frisk was that because of their neglect, they had no mental concept (or well, experience) of what a parent is supposed to be. that concept is abstract to them, if not completely alien, so they approach toriel being their mom kinda... laterally? like "okay, I'm gonna call you mom. now, to figure out what that means to me..."
which went to add to Toriel's own gripes and baggage with HER motherhood, and sans' own issues with commitment and responsibility. disfunctional little family <3 but the best part was, that didn't stop frisk from being creechur and silly goofy! they're not realities that have to contradict each other, that can just be their personality. besides, being funny and charismatic is a very useful trait to have when you're on your own out there.
they're a little street rascal, like someone out of the irregulars from the sherlock holmes books. that's the way i like to see them :]

So, you said previously that any magical ability has to be registered.
Where? In the birth certificate? What else has to be registered?
It gets put in medical records since some abilities might affect treatments (like say if a monster can eat metal as an ability, that would definitely effect using metal plating as a way to help set bones)
Magic color is registered and put in a birth certificate. There’s a huge fkn book of color swatches in every hospital to more specifically name a color.
Soulbonds also have to be registered. It changes in one’s license under marital status. The spouse or bondeds license numbers are put under there.
And phone numbers in ebott are different too. Your license numbers first four digits are always the last four digits of your phone number. The rest of the number is the area code of where your home is. Most of ebott is empty land right now, so there’s not as many codes as you think.

Heya, last extract for today, a little piece of my latest fanfiction, A heart in a cage. It's a Papyrus x Reader story, and also the depiction of a not-so-peaceful post-pacifist universe where monsters had been enslaved. Chapter 2 is coming soon by the way!
Three years ago approximately, the world discovered a non-human people, the Monsters, lived under Mount Ebott, a local enigmatic mountain, reputed for its ghost stories and tales of missing children. First curious, the government lured them with the promise to live normally among humanity, as citizens. Only for a year though. After that, King Asgore recognized he had murdered six children in the hope of leaving their rock prison. The announcement of that genocide caused an outcry in public opinion, and in only weeks, all monsters were declared international threats.
The situation got only worse and worse from there. The monsters had to register themselves and then be forced to report to a police station once a week to make sure they were not causing problems. Their magic soon got controlled and restrained with a metal bracelet that every monster had to wear, which was supposed to assure people monsters were not a danger to society.
It took only a few months to restrain their actions and their words as well, forbidding them from going to certain places or to talk to certain people. Soon, their citizenship got revoked and all Monsters downgraded to slaves, first poached illegally, then parked in huge hangars to be sold officially.
For a few thousand dollars, humans could now acquire a monster and subject it to the worst torments as they were now unable to defend themselves. Conscious they could rebel, the government included a torture device in their bracelets to keep them under control. At any contrariety, their owner could give them an electric choc, going from a simple recall to a death sentence.
Until a few weeks ago, only the very rich elite could offer themselves a monster. Unfortunately, horror had no limits anymore and breeding factories opened to produce monsters en masse, lowering their cost by half their price. Most institutions fought to buy some to take care of paperwork, cleaning, all the thankless jobs they didn't want to do.
Your school included.
Last week, a vote took place between the school personnel to buy one of these monsters to take care of the maintenance of the school and watch the children during break times. You epically protested, screaming that school existed to teach children skills like tolerance, and that showing them that with money you can submit anything to your will is not exactly the image you want to give to young easily influenced minds. You only received back rolling eyes and loud sighs. Except for Yzaline, the cafeteria main cook and your best friend, and you, everyone voted in favor of buying a monster for the school.
Papyrus arrived three days sooner, just before the week-end, in a wood box without ventilation and under the applause of the municipal council, happy about this new acquisition they didn't have to pay for and that would make the school's daily life better.
You wanted to throw up.
When they opened the box, the skeleton had fainted, out of breath, curled up on the floor in visible distress, and not even able to stretch his legs to feel a little better. Did they help him? Of course not. They gave him electric chocs until he stood up and was forced to salute the crowd. The headmaster then poured a bucket and a broom into his hands and ordered him to work.
Considering your book den was not that important of a place to start with, he installed a cage in your storehouse, where Papyrus was supposed to stay the night and the week-end. And of course, it was now your role to open his cage and give him his tasks for the day because "Understand us, Mx Hickmore, most of us are working through the day, but you, except for the break times and the few hours of teaching you have, you're a bit like a foliage plant." They didn't say it exactly like that, but it was mostly the same.
As a thank-you, Mr. Langley authorized you to use Papyrus as your assistant in the library. Well, it must be said that the skeleton was quite efficient with his tasks on the first day and had nothing to do after only two or three hours, so the headmaster decided to add more tasks for him, to make a profit from this expensive purchase.
To show you were really not happy with the decision, you didn't lock Papyrus in the cage this week-end and authorized him access to the library. You felt bad to just put him in that prison that was way too small for him. He couldn't even stand up completely in it!
And you don't plan to stop there.
A heart in a cage, chapter 1.

Cop!Sans x Reader Drabble
... Perhaps a new book. Someone stop me there's going to be too many- It's going to be like my list of AUs I've created-
Warnings: Sexual jokes, Reader's a criminal, and running, and just a lil' gremlin. Reader also really doesn't like Royals.
Alarms blared in your ears, telling tales of the cop car wailing that you were bound to hear in a couple minutes.
Sprinting out of the antique museum at breakneck speed, you couldn’t stop the grin that formed on your face. Your heartbeat thundered in your ears, keeping time with your quick-paced footsteps.
You’d done a sloppy job at stealing this time around– far too sloppy. So much so that you were likely going to be caught and arrested, but there was no way you were going down without a fight.
You breathed in the cold night air, reveling in the way you seemed to dodge effortlessly through the crowds– like a predatory animal who knew all too well how to vanish from the untrained eye.
Upper Ebott was never quiet– a massive tourist destination, filled with many national wonders and home to the mountain with the biggest lore in history.
You quickly found your own destination, slipping into a dark alleyway that was the entrance to the man-made maze that the city had unknowingly built.
A hooded figure grabbed your arm, grinning sharply as his saffron-orange eyes met yours. Your grin only returned in kind as you placed the antique crown in his hand.
“Pleasure doing business with you.”
You chuckled in response, patting his upper arm. The smooth material of his waterproof jacket was cold beneath your hand.
“‘Course, Saffron–” You would have continued, had the sound of police sirens not begun to scream through the air.
Saffron nodded quickly at you before sprinting off– far faster than you would ever be.
Man, Saffron was your idol. Such a cool guy.
You shot out of the alleyway and down the street, thinking back on all of the other times you’d had to do this in the past.
You’d grown up a street kid– didn’t have anyone around you to guide you towards riches and money. People just loved to discriminate against you, because they had nothing better to do with their lives.
So excuse you if you decided to attack the Monarchy because they were all rich toris that loved to shit on all of the lower classes.
“stop running and put your hands up!” A baritone shout cut through the air behind you.
Internally, you deadpanned, vaulting over a chainlink fence with a sign on it that clearly stated “NO TRESSPASSING” and continued your run.
Did they actually think you’d stop because they’d given you a chance? In fact– what about that sign was seemingly “stopping” you from getting in here?
Hell, why build a fence out of chainlink if you don’t want reckless people such as yourself to climb over it? They should have at least put barbwire at the top as a deterent (not that it would have stopped you, of course. There were plenty of ways to get around barbwire.)
You glanced around you, realising you were in some kind of company–... ew.
You spared a look at the big ol’ sign on the wall proclaiming that this was the property of his and her majesty and immediately felt the impulsive urge to find some gasoline. Or a match.
Preferably both.
After all, there was nothing you hated more than the monarchy. Not even Kevins and Karens– and that was saying a hell of a lot.
You could hear the footsteps of three people behind you, but you didn’t flinch. Though, you were beginning to reach just about the end of your first wind.
You knew if you were to be caught, it would undoubtedly be a lifetime imprisonment– you were a thief and a murderer, known for targetting rich people and then robbing them blind afterwards.
That was all true, by the way. Most of the unresolved cases around the area were your fault. Honestly, you would have thought the police force would have been smarter– your little “telltale” sign that it was you was the fact that the people were rich.
And also you’d steal their watches and/or bracelets.
… You wondered if you’d ever stolen a heirloom before.
Eh. Probably.
You vaulted over the other side of the fence, beginning to feel the telltale sign of yourself flagging as your heart began to burn.
Just as you’d made it onto a strip of grass, you felt yourself being tackled to the ground. You fell with an “oof” and wiggled around as you tried to escape, looking around at the empty dog park around you.
The distinct smell of a damp forest wafted into your senses, making you think of a gentle stream– one that was currently a raging river.
“you have the right to remain silent.” The same baritone from before growled, grabbing your wrists. The clanking sound of handcuffs caught your attention, and your grin turned sharp.
“Hey, hey, woah there– not even asking for my safeword? That’s not very nice of yo- fuck, ow,” You winced when he pulled your arms uncomfortably behind your back, “–u. My safeword’s peaches by the way–”
“shut. up.” The cop seethed, but you could see the faintest blue glow on your shoulder.
… Blue? Hold up just a fuckin’ second.
“Sans! Have you got the thief?”
… Sans. Sans– why was that name familiar–
Ew. Fuck no. YOU WERE BEING HANDCUFFED BY SOMEONE WHO WAS FRIENDS WITH THE MONARCHY?!
“You’re a skeleton.” You numbly muttered, pressing your cheek into the ground to get a better look at Sans as he shouted the affirmative to his colleague.
His bones were white, his skull catching the light of another police vehicle as it turned up. His teeth were slightly parted, sweat dripping down his brow as he took a couple deep breaths. His rib cage expanded and contracted, giving off the effect of breathing even if he wasn’t physically capable of it.
His eyelights, a million shades of very pale blue, were small and sharp-looking, despite still being rounded. His suit– purple, black and white (the colours of the Deltarune Kingdom, you noted)– was scuffed up in some areas– particularly along the sleeve, which needed some major patchwork.
… He had a very light dusting of blue upon his cheekbones, which you immediately grinned at.
“Green light’s for go.” You called teasingly, wiggling your fingers around in their handcuffed hold. Your finger touched the bottom of his palm– warm skin against even warmer bones.
“shut up.” He huffed again, fixing you with a glare. If you’d been unhandcuffed and free, you would have clapped and giggled at the way his blush deepened.
In no time at all, two other officers came to help Sans get you to your feet.
You winked at Sans as he pushed you into the back of a police car, quickly doing your belt and clicking it closed.
“Kinky.” You muttered where his “ear” would be as he did so– referring to the fact you were even more restrained now.
All you got in return was a sharp glare, and more of a blush. Something in you delighted at the fact you could make a mess of a Royal’s friend with just a few simple words.
… Sans gave you the impression he was most definitely a guarded person, and likely wasn’t used to getting flirted with. Well, unluckily for him, as long as he was around you, you’d continue to pester him with the power of your rizz. For the sake of entertainment, of course.
…
You had a feeling the holding cell wasn’t going to be very entertaining. You also wondered when your trial would be, and how much evidence of your crimes they’d gathered.
Eh.
You hummed, sitting as comfortably in your seat as you could while you stared at Sans in the mirror with a grin.
Guess you’d find out, huh?

📓 Your turn! 💜
Thank you for asking 💚
Put "📓" or some other version of a book emoji into my inbox and I'll explain the plot of a fanfiction that I haven't written but daydream about.
OK, so I've got quite a few ideas bouncing around inside my brain, but I've already got too many WIPs right now to start a new one.
That said, one of the ideas that has been rattling around inside my noggin for years now is a take on Underfell after the monsters reach the Surface.
Under the cut because I wrote more than I expected 😅
The monsters are free from the Underground, at last. But things immediately go wrong.
Just like the monsters, the humans in Underfell are a lot less trusting and a lot more aggressive. So, the moment a whole population of monsters emerges from Mt Ebott, the humans turn on them.
Frisk is "rescued" from the Evil Monsters™️ and taken away to a de-programming facility where the humans try to free them from the monsters' "brainwashing".
Meanwhile, the monsters are rounded up, locked up in a sort of anti-immigration facility and treated harshly. They're all worried sick about Frisk and their loved ones, but they're Fells so they show it by aggression and distrust.
Eventually, without Frisk there to be the go-between, tensions boil over, a new war breaks out between monsters and humans, and the monsters break out of the facility and form a resistance movement. Their first task is to rescue Frisk.
Meanwhile, Frisk has been working on their end to get back to the monsters.
The idea for the story was very much inspired by the song Never Going Back by The Score:
youtube
I've literally only written one paragraph for this story, but here it is if you're interested:
Frisk didn't cry when they were seized. Despite everything they'd been through, they hadn't shed a tear throughout the entire Underground. In all honesty, they doubted they even could anymore. Their reservoir had been cried dry long before they met any of the monsters.

encanto undertale au thoughts part 1 rahhhh
so, encanto undertale au, i've mentioned it already in this post before but it was very vague
so lets do our best to expand a bit more
though fair warning that it's been a while since i've touched undertale in its full, and even then, i was never fully aware of every single lore detail in undertale, so i may miss or be wrong about something, feel free to tell me though woooo
wait, help, i'm realizing that the two have opposite problems: undertale has so much lore that it takes a while to take in, even if some are up to interpretation because at least there's already a basis, while encanto has so little information to work with since the only concrete source we have is the movie, posts from the creator, some comics and books (the latter three not even being 100% sure either)
but anyway, i actually still dont have full thoughts besides the general vibes but onto the thoughts (warning, it's a long post):
i mentioned before that the grandkids will be falling down into the underground for this au
just to be clear though, i am really not sure how to deal with the huge gap between time periods (1950s for encanto and 211Xs for undertale) and i dont think im in the right mindset for that atm so i'll leave it vague, thank you AUSIFHASUF
not unless this will be encanto but modern, but that's still up in the air, and i'm hesitant on it too since i want both encanto and undertale to be as canon accurate as possible oof
though there is a possible way by focusing on how disconnected the encanto is to the outside world, but not really sure either
i am also not gonna be diving much into the setting and place of undertale, and just generally all the parts about both encanto and undertale that can be left up to interpretation unless it's completely necessary (i'll try another day, but just not now IUAFHUAHSF)
anyway, let's make things on both sides clear first before fusing them together
so for encanto, we'll have it set around the months of rebuilding casita, so that means no gifts, the movie besides the very end of all of you already happened, the family's issues are already brought into light but are not fully mended yet (since that takes a long time—plus more fuel to add into the fire for this au mwahahaha), and they can get out of the encanto
on undertale's side, we'll have it all be and set generally the same, keeping the general timeline of it for the sake of continuity, so the kids will fall the same sort of way and "time" frisk does in canon game
i was kinda imagining that the mountains the miracle created would be sort of connected to mt. ebott somehow? it's a thought but i'm unsure on the execution of it, just spit balling a bit here
then again, we don't know the magic's full origins so maybe that can be played around with, but still up in the air, really
even though im not sure of it yet, following the previous thought, it's been a couple of months since they started rebuilding casita, and the kids were taking a break from it to take their time to bond with one another (everyone in the family has been bonding with each other as much as they could when they weren't helping in the rebuild, and this was likely established after the fall since they're all trying to do better with each other)
they had decided to take a walk near the mountains, but rather than on the side of the encanto, they're on the outside, so they went through the crack the fall had made (they did this for the new scenery and exploration, plus they wanted to see the river, so yeah)
after a while of walking and conversation, they find a cave (you know the one)
from here, i'm not sure on how they'll be falling into the underground yet (other than that it will be chaotic but also likely angsty), but they will be falling in
so that will be the start of the journey and full crossover between the two
while the kids will be going through their journey in the underground, the adults and townspeople will be dealing with the kids' disappearance, but i'm not sure how long it will be
i know undertale canonically only took place in a day, but that was with frisk, and i'm not sure if that will be the same case with the madrigal grandkids
i still find it wild though that the entire game of undertale took place in only a day, it has the same vibes as "it only took days for casita to be rebuilt again" except the 1 day for undertale is canon, but i digress
the entire journey is still vibes, but i do imagine some thoughts, plot, and interactions that can and will probably happen in the au:
the kids not being surprised that there's magic (cause duh), but that there's more magic in the underground through the monsters
they're all gonna be in awe of all the magic they see too, considering the variety of it
though they will be missing their gifts more because of seeing all the magic around them
mirabel's definitely not gonna have her insecurities rearing its head again, oh definitely not— (welp, sorry mirabel)
them wondering about the colors of their souls, and how it doesn't fit their signature color help—
the kids thinking flowey was isabela's doing somehow lmao
they're all definitely getting whiplash on the violence that will happen with flowey, and eventually the rest of the underground
the older three, especially luisa, will immediately be taking up the protecting role though
isabela having a crisis because of flowey the psychotic flower, considering her gift (as non-existent as it is at this point in time)
they will not be understanding any game references here, nor the existence of the phone, not unless it's modern au, but again, still up in the air
antonio is gonna be having fun with all the animal-like monsters, and they can talk too, so it's like he still has his gift but his siblings and cousins can hear them too
luisa would be the one to push the rocks (including the talking rock) in the ruins since that's one of the things she had done when she had her gift
them being scared of napstablook at first because ghost but it will all be fine in the end
dolores and napstablook will likely bond through music later on too
toriel reminding them of julieta and her warmth and her cooking and baking
but when toriel is trying to stop them from leaving the ruins and is disappointed, she would probably remind them of abuela, which is fun lmao
each new terrain will leave them surprised and intrigued, especially for the ones they don't know about (like hotlands for example, i doubt they'd have encountered lava at any point in their 5-21 years alive, stuck inside the encanto—again, unless this is modern au)
huh, im kinda realizing that both the encanto and the underground are similar in the sense that both places are trapped and isolated (encanto with the mountains and undertale with the underground), leading the inhabitants to miss a lot of different things (undertale with the sky and stars, then encanto with the different terrains, and both with other people/humans)
sans and camilo are gonna get another prankster/jokester to work with here lol
i also feel like sans' laidback attitude will remind them of felix's own laidback attitude, along with how they both try to make everyone smile with jokes
papyrus trying to prove himself by joining the royal guard, along with his loneliness and want for friends, would definitely resonate with the kids, especially mirabel
also papyrus and agustin are similar in the sense that they're seen as innocent and clumsy respectively, but are actually really smart in their own ways, plus the feeling of wanting to belong is definitely shared by the two of them
not sure about the dating side quest with papyrus, but it will definitely be chaotic if it happens the way it happens
does the encanto have waterfalls anywhere? if not, then first time seeing a waterfall in...well, waterfall
isabela would probably wonder if she could make echo flowers, if she still had her gift (she wonders if she could have made so many of the plants they'll find in the underground)
meeting gaster would be fun, whether it be all of them or just one of them, though if it was the latter, i'm not sure who'd it be, though i'm imagining it to be dolores as of now
antonio cheering the snail on in naptsablook's snail game real
undyne would definitely terrify the kids at first
she's like a weather of chaos, whether it be through a rain of spears or rays of flames from a burning house, similar to pepa in that case
both are outgoing and outspoken, which definitely has the kids reminded of pepa
not fully sure yet but i feel like it will be one of the warm siblings who'll splash undyne with water when they reach hotlands
undyne (once she's not killing them lol) and the kids will be bonding through the cooking lessons, except we know how that ends
i imagine luisa and isa being the ones to take on undyne in both fight and bonding chaos sense ASHFUIAHSF
oh boy, alphys, this one's hard considering how modern things are at this point, even with her nerdiness and anime
but i do think the fact that alphys is hiding something will be noticed by the kids, considering how they were all hiding something for years before
also they'd be reminded of bruno considering alphys' similar vibes in a sense
especially with how they both ran away and hid from their problems (bruno to the walls and alphys to the true lab)
mettaton is fun, they'd probably appreciate him more as a performer if it wasn't for the fact that he was trying to kill them AIUSHFUIAS
ngl though, by hotlands going forward, it's gonna be hard imagining things since the kids will not know a lot of the modern stuff and tech here, but i guess we'll have to see how it goes
plus we can always play off the fact that the encanto is so disconnected from the outside world that they aren't aware of a lot of things, so yeah
but anyway, the core just being a maze will be fun, but whatever was going on with alphys here will be ringing alarm bells immediately
but mirabel will definitely be feeling for her here, considering she knows how it feels
mettaton's whole fight is just gonna have them be confused considering they never knew what tvs are and stuff (unless bruno shared more about the telenovelas he saw through his visions before they fell into the underground)
sans being serious in the judgement hall will give them whiplash lol
though in this sense, this probably emphasizes the similarity with felix in a way
asgore is very kind but is bound by his duty to his people, similar to alma in that case
and mirabel will likely be the one to realize that, as she knows and understands abuela's reasons in the fullest sense (i imagine the whole family got to talk about it already, but mirabel is the one with the emotional intelligence and empathy to notice how asgore is feeling, and also to make the sort of connection between abuela and asgore)
before i continue, all throughout, i realized how the madrigal adults and the ut characters are really similar in some ways to each other (whether personality, struggle, vibe, or others):
julieta = toriel
felix = sans
agustin = papyrus
pepa = undyne
bruno = alphys
alma = asgore
it's obviously not one to one, but the similarities are definitely going to be fun to notice, i think
i think asgore will be less "we'll take care of you and become a family" since they already have a family up top, and more "we'll help you figure something out so we can get out of here and you can go back to your family"
but of course flowey comes and ruins that
omega flowey is...a thing i don't even want to imagine, ngl, that's gonna be so brutal...
they'll beat him of course (with a ship's load worth of trauma as a gift) and they'll be out of the underground
but we know that's not gonna be the end, not yet
continuation in another post because i just hit word limit aaaa
part 2

More of a meta question, almost (if not all) of your writing has been when monsters have made their way to surface. Would descendtale follow this still or would stories with them follow a reader insert that fell underground with them?
I like the idea of it being open to either!
'Fell into the Underground' stories can be a lot of fun so I kind of like that this one has more built-in space for that, but in terms of getting the Descendtale monsters up to the surface...
The Frisk of this 'verse/timeline has no interest in or thoughts of going back to the Underground.
However, they have just found out that magic is real, and that they can do it. They live the rest of their life as a mage, doing real magic and showing others how to do it too.
Most people hearing about what they can do--and what people who learned from them can do--dismiss it easily enough. Sleight of hand, special effects, digital editing, people have been faking 'magic' about as long as the word's existed, this latest brand of it is just another fad, a hoax.
Still, it becomes something of a subculture, mixing in with similar trends like witchcraft and the occult in general.
Decades later, most people who get into that sort of magic can't do anything too impressive, but it's especially popular in Ebott, a place with lots of local legends about the mountain, monsters sealed away beneath it, people going missing around it--really spooky, mystical stuff...
It's the perfect place for a group of young aspiring mages to go to attempt the weird ritual they found in a creepy old book they found in the back of the occult section of the local library.
And well...young people with old magic books containing incantations they don't fully understand will do what young people with old magic books containing incantations they don't fully understand do and, between them all, the Barrier is broken.
Eventually, monsters start to trickle out and the rest is history...or rather, the present.
