“It’s not fair.”
Y/N furrowed her eyebrows in confusion as her best friend plopped himself flat on her bed.
Her parents had let her stay with the Pevensie’s at a professor’s house for shelter — who would have thought they would end up being leaders of a kingdom.
She had been crowned Queen Y/N the Eloquent. Her ever so good skills in speaking benefited their home like no other. They had fixed so many conflicts without drawing out blood with her help, the siblings wondered what they would have done if Edmund didn’t accidentally smack her in the head back when they were 4.
“What is it this time Eds?” she sighed, leaving the stack of books she was carrying from her own personal library to sit down next to Edmund’s body.
“It’s just Peter— and Susan— not to mention Lucy. Why is it always me! Why not y— them this time?! As if I can’t do anything like that. It's just I need time—“
“Eds! Edmund! Breath, please” she pleaded, concerned at the speed the words were coming out of his mouth. Edmund only remained quiet, his face flat on her bed. She sighed, standing up from her position, she — lightly — hit Edmund on the shoulder.
“Sit up!” she hissed.
Another hit.
“Sit up, you twat!”
The insult had the boy standing up in an instant, shooting daggers at the smile Y/N was playfully displaying. “Who’re you calling a twat?”. Edmund sounded offended, Y/N knew him too well that the question had an action behind it for her to fall for. “No one. Well… someone with the last name Pevensie…”
“Peter, then?”
“No,” she dismissed, shaking her head jokingly. “More like Edmund—“ she shrieked his name in surprise. He had been quick, reaching towards her in seconds — his long arms wrapped around her waist as his fingers dug to her sides.
“Edmund! Stop—“ she could barely get the words out, her laughs drowning the whole room. Edmund laughed at the attempt, tightening his hold. “I suggest you take back your words, my lady. Or you’ll be trapped forever!” Edmund announced between his own chuckles.
“Never!”
Tumblr media
Their laughs only got louder. The sound escaping the room. Two fauns just happened to pass Y/N’s closed bedroom door, the two looking at each other knowingly. “I am really having a hard time believing that those two will always be best friends.” One said to the other.
“Hopefully, one of them will gain some courage. Who knows, maybe we’ll get Narnia’s first prince in three years' time.” The other replied.
The two laughed, knowing the prediction is highly unlikely — but not impossible.
Back inside, Edmund had stopped. His arms still around her waist as the two took a moment to catch their breaths. Y/N had rested her head against his chest, the rhythm of his heartbeat instantly calming her down.
Edmund watched in adoration at Y/N allowing herself to rest against him. Despite knowing each other for more than a decade — maybe even more — he still doesn’t believe someone as delicate as the girl in front of him trusts him enough to do so.
Maybe in the future he’ll finally tell her what he found so unfair. Why his siblings would continuously pester him about his buried feelings when they too had them one way or another.
For now, having Y/N allow him to wrap his arms around her, it’s enough. Knowing she confides in him as he does to her, it’s enough.
Having her around, she’s enough.

thank you sm for reaching the end. i appreciate it a lot. feel free to tell me what you <3 constructive criticism is highly valued. also accepting prompts or requests atm. love u lots xoxo

summary: being the king's and queen's advisor came with many surprises
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Your arrival to Narnia had been fortunate for the King’s and Queen’s reign. You had arrived one fateful day, after having fallen asleep on your backdoor patio while reading. When you eventually woke up, you were not in your patio anymore, instead a tall figure mounted on a horse stood a few feet away from you. He was wearing a silver shimmering crown that glowed as the sun hit it. You immediately shuffled back as you tried to get as far away as possible from the man in front of you.
“Don’t be afraid,” the man said as he dismounted his horse.
That didn’t stop you from being very much afraid. You couldn’t bring yourself to say anything, so instead you frantically dragged yourself backwards while simultaneously trying to reach out for a stick or something you could defend yourself with.
“No- stop that, I wont hur-” the man started, however, his words were cut short as you pointed a branch at him. He simply raised his hands in a bored way, prompted by his actions you stood up, without lowering your weapon.
“Can I talk now?” he asked.
“Where am I?” you replied.
“You’re in Narnia,” he said. Up close, and without the sun blinding you, you could see that he was actually rather handsome. He had dark brown hair, kind blue eyes, and a sharp jawline. He was dressed in weird clothes -beautiful, but weird-, he wore a thick dark green cape that was embroidered with intricate silver patterns over a white silk shirt, and brown trousers. Overall, he exuded an air of regency, (which could be mostly given by the fact that he was also wearing a crown), however, you would not allow yourself to lower your guard.
His reply only prompted more questions. How could you have fallen asleep in your garden, and have woken up in the forest?
“Have I been kidnapped?” you asked.
The man laughed, and he lowered his hands, to which you jolted your stick at.
“Put that down, will you, if I had wanted to harm you, I would’ve already done it”, he said, as he swiftly swept his cape away, so that a seathed sword came into view.
“I really don’t understand how that is reassuring,” you replied, the branch not leaving your firm grip.
He sighed and just extended his hand. You eyed it for a second, and then looked at him before returning your gaze to his hand as you promptly shook it.
“I’m Edmund Pevensie. It’s nice to meet you”.
“I’m not telling you my name Edmund Pevensie, for all I know, you might just be a well-dressed murderer”.
“He did say you were quite ‘peculiar’,” Edmund said as he chuckled. He turned his back on you and went to mount his horse again.
“Wait. Where are you going? Are you leaving me here?”
“That’s what you wanted, didn’t you?” he asked in a mocking way, as he sat on top of the horse.
You lowered your weapon and sighed, “Well, not really. I mean, you brought me here -beautiful place, by the way- but I’d like to go home now, please.”
“I didn’t bring you here, Y/N.”
“Then who di-?” you paused as you came to a sudden realization. “How do you know my name?”
“He told me. And He told me where to find you as well”.
“You do realize that most of the things you’ve said at this point haven’t made sense, right?”
He laughed once again, you seemed to amuse him, “You are breath of fresh air. I’m sure my siblings will have no problem getting along with you,” he said. “Now, if you wan’t answers, you can come with me, if you don’t, you can stay here,” as he gave you your options, her extended his hand towards you.
You pondered your options for a moment: mounting a horse with a total (handsome) stranger, or stay here, in this (admittedly, beautiful) forest. Unfortunately for you, you would have to choose the first one. You sighed and dropped the branch before making your way to him. Before taking his hand, you eyed his silver crown and then looked at him.
“Am I supposed to bow?”
He chuckled, endlessly amused by your behavior, “I think we’re past that now.”
You chuckled as well before taking his hand, and being pulled up by him to mount the horse. When he was sure you were secured, he turned his head to the front and patted the horse’s neck. “Take us home Phillip, please”.
The horse apparently understood, as it neighed and apparently nodded before turning around and galloping to God-knows-where.
That had been nearly two years ago, when Edmund was merely an 18-year-old boy. Now, you were running around the castle grounds, making sure that everything would be perfect for his birthday ball, where single ladies form all around would presents themselves to him as future possible wives and queens. He didn’t have to choose a wife, however it was now a tradition since Peter had had one the year you had arrived, at the request of the Beavers.
“At least give it a try My King,” Mrs. Beaver had said. And so he did, however, he didn’t chose a queen, something that disappoint every available lady in Narnia and beyond.
So now, here you were trying to make ends meet so that Edmund could have a nice birthday, and he could pick a queen.
“Do make sure the trees are happy, they look their best when they are,” you said to a maid.
“Yes, My Lady,” she replied.
Even though you weren’t exactly royalty, being their advisor/ representative/ local magic healer, amongst other unofficial duties, you were treated like the next big thing.
“Oh, and also the food must not go in the ballroom, but rather in the conjoined rooms. The satyrs have agreed to pass out drinks, haven’t they?”
“Yes, My Lady.”
“Perfect, and the centaurs will be receiving the guests, right?”
“That has been taken care of already, My Lady,” a voice interrupted the usual affirmations of your female companion.
Edmund stood in front of you with a grin. The maid immediately excused herself, not before wishing him a happy birthday, to which he offered her a sincere smile and a gracious vow.
“Good morning Ed, I suppose you’re getting ready for your big event,” you said as you flipped through the stack of papers in your hands which were filled to the brim of things you had to take care of.
“Actually, I was about to ask you if you wanted to go for a ride,” he said as he joined your side.
“Ah, I wish I could, but unfortunately, I have a lot of things to get done for the party,” you replied, taking a quick glance at him.
“Phillip does miss you,” he said.
“I’m sure he does,” you said in a sarcastic tone. In reality you could imagine he actually missed your mare, Kamaria.
“Come on-” he started, but he wouldn’t get the opportunity to finish his thought, since you heard a voice calling to you from the other side of the gardens. It was Susan, who has pointing at her wrist, indicating you were late.
You groaned softly, “God, I have to get my dress fitted,” you said as you covered your face with the papers. “I’ll see you tonight!” you spoke as you started to make your way to Susan, to which Edmund wanted to say something, but a sudden thought halted your steps.
You ran up to Ed once again and threw your arms around him, “Happy Birthday, your majesty,” you said up to his ear. You felt him wrap your arms around your waist and hug you tighter. You eventually let go, praying that your face wasn’t as red as it felt. You looked at him one last time and as you ran towards Susan, you looked back and yelled “Save me one dance, will you?”
You saw him laugh softly, before going to face Susan.
“Oh Edmund, please dance with me!” she said in a sing-song voice.
“Be quiet,” you hushed and gently nudged her.
“Just kiss already.”
Tumblr media
The night had been lit up by the various candelabra that gave life to the ballroom, as well as the stunning gowns and dress robes that the guests were wearing.
You stood by the King’s and Queen’s thrones, always at their left side. You were wearing a beautiful gown that had been tailored just for you, which made you feel like a star. However, you knew that was not the case, this night was not about you, it was about Edmund, and the girls that came here to be courted.
Once everyone was settled in, trumpets sounded throughout the room, which prompted the guests’ attention to move towards the thrones. Peter, Susan, and Lucy stood up, and the room cleared out for them in a semi-circle. They were to choose their first dance now.
Lucy went first, she immediately went up to one of the satyrs that were passing out drinks and asked him to dance. He happily agreed, as he set down the platter on his arm and bowed to her. Susan went next, she graciously picked one nice looking guy from the crowd, and curtsied, he returned the gesture by bowing. Last, was Peter, you saw as the girls in the crowd straightened their posture. You smiled at that, knowing that if you were in their position you would’ve probably done the same, it filled you with endearment towards the girls. However, you soon saw their posture deflate, and their eyes fell on you. You came to the sudden, and mortifying, realization that King Peter the Magnificent was standing in front of you.
Your eyes went wide, and as much as you wished to ask for an explanation, you couldn’t.
“Can I have this dance?” he asked, a shit-eating grin on his face.
You saw Susan trying to hold back her laughter at your reaction as she gave you an encouraging nod.
Turning your attention back at Peter, you felt as if your blood has been drained; you were used to being the center of attention, however, this felt different, it was as if you were being judged by your own people. “Peter, what the fuck?” you whispered harshly, as you offered him a tight-lipped smile along with your hand.
Since having arrived to Narnia, you’ve abstained yourself from cursing, mostly because you knew that people here weren’t as used to it as you were back in the twenty-first century, however, sometimes you just couldn’t help it.
“Ah yes, always with the sailor mouth,” he chuckled, as he led you to the center of the ballroom. “You don’t see that a lot back home.”
“So you’ve told me, but what you haven’t told me is what are you doing.”
“Is it so bad that I want to take my advisor out to dance?” he asked, positioning his hands on your waist.
“Not at all, my king, but I’d rather not be the target of the death glares coming from the fine ladies here,” you replied just as the music started to fill the room.
“Then you’re going to hate what comes next,” he said, you could hear the grin on his voice. You tensed under his touch, and he felt it immediately, as he spun you around and smiled. “Enjoy yourself Y/N, don’t worry. You’ve been doing that a lot lately.”
“What do you mean Peter? What are you guys up to?” you were starting to get worried now.
“You look beautiful,” he said as a reply. “I’m sure he’s thinking the same thing.”
You remained silent, a silent confused noise was the only thing that escaped your mouth as he spun you around again. It was obvious that he was playing a game, and he was refusing to give you any answers. From the corner of your eye you saw Orion, his usual stoic expression seemed a little off, he was looking at Edmund, who was now making his was to the stairs in front of the four thrones, meaning that he was now going to choose a woman to dance with. Not just any woman, but the one that could possibly be his next wife.
Right on cue, the music came to a swift stop, and Peter set you right gracefully. He then bowed and offered you his arm as support.
You knew Peter, and you knew the Pevensies. You knew they would never do something bad to you, or something that would make you uncomfortable in a way that you couldn’t handle, so why was it that you felt dizzy with nervousness?
“Relax,” Peter whispered reassuringly.
“I’m trying,” you whispered back.
“Just so that you know, you never had to worry about anyone else,” he spoke. “He only has eyes for you. Ever since he found you in the forest.”
You gasped softly. The sudden realization about who he was talking about all along dawned on you. But it couldn’t be, could it? You were so lost in your thoughts, that the gasps of surprise, as a certain king approached you didn’t seem to faze you.
“Would you do me the honor, of conceding me this dance?” Edmund said, as he asked for your hand. His blue eyes were soft, and they shimmered with the light of the room. A small (and beautiful) smile adorned his features.
Peter smiled at him, and then at you. Shocked was a small word to describe your state at the moment. Never would you have imagined this was how the night was going to go. Still in your state of shock, you were barely aware of your hand moving to be in his, and of how his fingers wrapped around it as if they were welcoming you home.
“You look beautiful tonight Y/N,” Edmund said while taking you in.
“Ed…what is this?”
“Isn’t it obvious?”
“I’m afraid not,” you whispered as the music filled your ears once again. “When I asked you to save me a dance, this wasn’t what I meant.”
Edmund inclined his head a little, so that he could look at your eyes, “I’m mad for you Y/N, and this is my way of telling you that. I wanted to sort of give you a heads up, and maybe even propose today when I asked you to go for a ride with me.”
“Ed, listen…if this is a joke…”
“What? Why would you think this is a joke?”
Your eyebrows furrowed, it all seemed too good to be true. You knew your relationship with him had always been sort of playful, borderline flirtatious maybe, but you’d never thought that your feelings were reciprocated.
Lucy was the first to find out about your feelings for Edmund, albeit it was not because you had wanted her to, but because the young Queen was so observant that nothing went unnoticed by her. Of course, after Lucy found out, Susan did as well and she was not going to be subtle about it. So one day, as you were making some jewelry as a gift for the fairies for your upcoming diplomatic trip, Susan barged in and demanded to know everything, Lucy rushed behind her, trying to get her to calm down as to not frighten you. You had thought that Peter didn’t know about your ‘secret’ but after tonight, you were starting to think that you were a little more oblivious than you had previously thought.
“Ed, I- I don’t know. I just… this is,” you tried to explain whatever it was you were feeling. You were confused, overjoyed, overwhelmed, you felt weak and powerful at the same time. You felt as if you had been put on a pedestal the moment Edmund chose you, as if the fact that he had picked you in a room full of beautiful girls made you worth looking at, but you also felt exposed, as if the same fact meant that you were now like a piece of meat on display.
Edmund’s eyebrows furrowed. “Listen Y/N. I don’t want you to force you into anything that you don’t want to do. I don’t know how you feel about me, or if I misinterpreted our relationship. What I do know, however, is that this is not a joke or a prank, this is truly how I feel about you, and that I will make every effort in me to make sure that you have the life you deserve, whether that is with or without me. I know that there’s no one else in this room, or in the entirety of Narnia or even Archenland, for that matter, that compares to you. I want to spend the rest of forever with you Y/N.”
You were left speechless, and the silence was loud. The music had dissipated along with Edmund’s words. He kissed your hands and with an adoring gaze got down on one knee as he took out a beautiful silver ring from his pocket. The ring had an amethyst in it, your favorite stone, and your birth-stone as well. You gasped, and your hands flew to your mouth, the room gasped along with you.
“My dearest Y/N, would you do me the honor of being my wife?”
You saw Peter, Susan and Lucy beaming at you. They stood by their respective thrones, Lucy held on to Peter’s hand tightly. You looked down at the dark-haired boy in front of you. His eyes never seemed to leave yours. Your chest filled with warmth and you allowed yourself to relax, a soft smile appeared on your face as soon as you gave him a soft nod.
You would be honored to be called a Pevensie.
“Yes my King, I would love to be your wife,” you replied as you extended your left hand, were he slid the ring into your nuptial finger. He promptly stood up and swept you into his arms as he spun you around.
The whole room exploded into applause and cheers.
“You are unbelievable Edmund Pevensie. You know that back in my world, skipping the dating stage is unforgivable, right?”
He laughed and pressed his lips to yours, “It’s a good thing we’re not there then, yes? Because now I can tell the world how lucky I am to call you my wife.”
You giggled and burrowed your nose into the crook of his neck, “Not yet charming, we have to go through the actual ceremony.”
“Yes yes, formalities my love. If it were up to me I’d have it done tonight.”
“You’re starting to sound like Peter there Ed, maybe marriage will make you more impulsive,” you replied as you giggled into his neck.
“Maybe,” he said as he pulled back a little, just enough to see your face and press his lips against yours once again.
“I love you Ed.”
He smiled, and his eyes took you in, he didn’t need to say it back, you knew he had already. In every action, and every moment you had spent together. But he did, and your heart soared.

A Little Favour
Edmund Pevensie x Fem!Reader
Summary: Your best friend Edmund (aka the love of your life) asks you to help him invite his crush on a date.
word count: 2.6 k
warnings: none ig. Slight angst but most fluff and a slight mention of sex but not really
A/N: I pictured this story happening post WW2, but I made no references to the 40s so it can be read as a modern au
Tumblr media
“I have for the first time found what I can truly love–I have found you. You are my sympathy–my better self–my good angel–I am bound to you with a strong attachment. I think you good, gifted, lovely: a fervent, a solemn passion is conceived in my heart; it leans to you, draws you to my centre and spring of life...”
Edward Rochester's speech was rudely interrupted by some inconvenient person who was knocking at your door. You rolled your eyes and mumbled a "come in" loud enough so whoever was on the other side of the door could hear you.
Edmund Pevensie's head popped through the small space of the half-opened door and you completely forgot why you were angry in the first place.
"Hi Y/N/N. Can we talk?" He smiled nervously.
You nodded and he sat down on the small couch that was in front of your bed so you could look at each other comfortably.
"I missed you, ya know?"
"We saw each other yesterday afternoon, Ed."
"Yesterday didn't count, Y/N. We were with my siblings." He pointed.
Edmund had a point. You loved Peter, Susan and Lucy; but you had multiple intimate matters that you preferred to talk about with Ed only.
"What did you want to talk about? Sounds important."
You were always closest to Edmund than of the other Pevensies. Since the two of you were four, you've been best friends. People were right, you and Ed were always joined at the hip. It was always you and him against the world and you hoped it would stay that way forever.
"I'm in love."
Your world stopped. Well, apparently it wouldn't be just the two of you against the world anymore. Now you would have to share your best friend.
"Oh, Hm… I- didn't see that coming. I mean, that’s great! If…" You trailed off with the words, but Ed seemed too lost in his thoughts that most likely involved this girl to hear you. "If you're happy, so am I!"
You knew very well that it was selfish, but you wanted him to be happy with you. You knew him better than anyone, he loved your company and even though you doubted his words a little, he always said you were cute. Why weren't you good enough for the boy you’ve been in love with for six years?
You bit your bottom lip to keep your eyes from filling with tears and discreetly cleared your throat before leaning forward slightly from your spot on the bed to snap your fingers in front of Edmund’s face, who had his head in the clouds.
"Oh, sorry. I… I'm just kind of nervous, you know? That's why I came here. I need your help to ask her out on a date." He spoke so quickly that you almost didn't understand him. He was avoiding your eyes, clearly nervous.
You sighed tiredly and knelt in front of him, placing a hand on his shoulder.
You weren't being fair. For years you were the most important girl in his life (after his sisters and his mother of course) and your approval clearly means the world to him. If you were as madly in love with someone as Ed seemed to be with this girl, you also would be heartbroken if your best friend didn't support you.
"Of course, I'll help you, Ed. I'm happy for you. What do you have in mind for the date?"
He sighed in relief and was already visibly more relaxed.
"I'm not sure. That's why I came to you. I suspect my siblings know, but I don't want to hear their taunts. Especially if she dumps me."
You ignored all the negative feelings that came with this sentence and focused only on your friend.
"Be optimistic, okay? You're an amazing guy and if she dumps you, it’s her loss. And I think I can help you much more if you tell me who she is." You suggested.
Edmund was never one to be easily embarrassed, but for some reason today he was blushing like there was no tomorrow.
"I don't think I have a chance with her, okay? I'd rather not say who she is for now. I trust you and know you'll know how to help me plan the perfect date."
Only a mad person could agree with …
"Of course I can help you, Ed."
Mad; that's what you are.
His face lit up
"Thank you so much, Y/N/N! You're the best!" He exclaimed, getting up to hug you.
You always forgot about the rest of the world when you were with Ed. You'd give anything to be able to smell his cologne, bury your face in his neck, and be held in his warm arms for eternity.
But that would never be possible.
Because he would never be yours.
***
You guys were meeting every day to decide how Ed could ask out the mysterious girl (Yes, he was still refusing to tell you who she was) a couple of weeks ago. You honestly had no idea who she could be because as far as you knew, you were the only girl he interacts with. Your only suspect was Chloe Chapman, the most beautiful girl of your school year. She lent her eraser to you in the biology class so she was probably very nice. But she had travelled to America with her family and she would spend the whole summer there and Edmund wanted to arrange the date for three days from now. There was no way it could be her.
Apparently, your best friend knew this girl very well. He knew her favourite flowers and snacks, (Which was very helpful as he wanted the date to be a picnic) Ed insisted it would be perfect as she wouldn't like something too expensive and elaborate while also wanting something special and unique. That day you cried yourself to sleep because a picnic was your idea of the perfect date and you loved to fantasize about sharing that experience with Edmund. But now he would realize your dream with someone else.
Life was very unfair.
To make everything worse, he begged you to wait with him until she arrived. Edmund would never ask you to stay on the date with him because he wanted to have a private moment with the girl of his dreams and didn't want to make you uncomfortable being the third wheel. But he wanted you to stay with him to give him moral support until she shows up.
That was the only time in your life you hated being best friends with him.
At that very moment, you were in Edmund's room. He told you he was going to ask the mysterious girl out this afternoon and he would be here any minute with her answer.
A part of you really wanted her to say 'yes' because Ed was madly in love with her and you didn't want him to be heartbroken if she rejected him. But you couldn't help but wish she would say' no' because if she accepts, you knew Edmund would fight until the end for their relationship to last and you would be obligated to be his maid of honour and eventually the godmother of his children. The thought made you shiver.
You nearly had a heart attack when the door burst open and Edmund appeared, looking like he had won a million pounds in a marathon.
"She said yes!" he exclaimed. You've never seen him so happy before
“Oh my God, Ed! I'm so happy for you!" You replied, doing your best to look enthusiastic.
The two of you held each other for a while until Edmund broke the comfortable silence.
“You will be there, right?” he murmured against your hair.
“Of course, Ed. I will always be there when you need me.” That was the first completely true sentence you've said to him since he told you about the mysterious girl.
"Good. Thank you for everything” He pulled away from you just enough so that he could look to your face.
You were almost sure he stared at your lips and he was just as stunned by the proximity as you were. But he gently turned away from you and went to his desk to get the little notebook you both were using to plan Edmund's date. You tweaked the last details for the rest of the afternoon, but you noticed the way he avoided your gaze the entire time and you'd be lying if you said you didn't feel like your heart had been ripped out of your chest.
***
Today was the big day. Edmund asked you to get ready because you were meeting the mysterious girl today and he really wanted you to make a good impression on her so you both could become friends.
Fantastic. Simply fantastic.
You picked up your favourite summer dress and put on some simple makeup. It was an outdoor picnic after all.
Edmund arranged for you to meet at 3:30 pm at a flower shop near Primrose Hill, the place where the date would happen. Arriving at the store, it wasn't long before you found him and you forgot how to breathe when you saw the owner of your heart wearing a plain blue sweater and comfy trousers that you'd never seen him wear before. Apparently, he took your advice and bought new clothes for the occasion. He looked adorable.
“Hi, Ed” You called out to get his attention.
He turned to you and you felt your cheeks heat up as you felt his gaze travel over your body.
“You are…Wow! Y/N…I don't even have the words to say how beautiful you look” he said nervously, the pure adoration in his voice making your stomach flutter.
“Thanks, Ed. You look good too” You smiled.
The two of you quickly pulled yourselves together and set out on a journey to buy the perfect flowers for his date. In addition to her favourite flowers (which coincidentally were your favourite flowers as well), he asked the seller for help buying flowers with specific meanings. You were passionate about flowers, but you never learned about their meanings and the only flower Edmund knew was the mysterious girl’s favourite. According to the seller, red roses mean romance, tulips are true love and alstroemerias mean loyalty. You were both completely embarrassed when the kind florist recommended with a smirk that Ed buy lilies too because they mean eroticism and sexuality. He bought five different types of flowers in addition to the mysterious girl's favourites and left the store.
You were slightly nervous to get to Primrose Hill because Edmund insisted on decorating it himself, despite your pleas. You loved his best friend, but he didn't have a lot of decorating sense.
He had specifically arranged for the date to be at Ed's favourite tree at 4:00 pm, the tree was set back from the rest of the park for privacy but it was still a beautiful spot. That was the two of you's favourite hangout spot since you were kids and you couldn’t help but feel a little hurt that he's using your two's special spot to have a date with a girl.
You were starting to worry that he would stop caring so much about you now that he had a possible girlfriend.
The two of you arrived on the date and you were shocked to see the most beautiful picnic setting ever. Indeed, the flowers were still missing to complete the decoration, but the delicate tablecloth was full of your favourite foods that looked absolutely delicious and the comical picnic basket gave it a special charm.
“It's way too beautiful. You didn't do this on your own.” That was the first thing you said.
Ed shrugged, but you didn't miss the boyish smile on his face.
“My sisters helped me. I thought I had already overloaded you so I asked for more help. But I am offended that you would assume that I couldn't make something beautiful on my own, Y/N/N.” He said, pretending to be offended.
You helped him put the finishing touches on with the flowers and you can't help but sigh as you look at the most adorable picnic you've ever seen.
You would give anything for Ed to have done all that specifically for you.
"It's 5 minutes to 4:00 pm" Ed commented while looking at his wristwatch.
You nodded and you two sat down next to each other.
“I don't know her” You broke the comfortable silence after a few minutes.
He looked at you with confusion written on his face.
“I don't know her, Ed. But I see how much she seems to make you happy and I've never seen your eyes so bright as when you talk about her. She clearly is your world and you wouldn't have made something so beautiful and special if you didn't love her. I'm so glad you found her, Edmund… I wish the world to you both because I feel like you were made for each other” You commented, surprised that your voice didn't choke.
Every word you said was like a knife in your heart, but it was the truth. You loved him unconditionally, and you knew that Edmund loved her as much as you loved him. He still looked confused by your words, but it didn't matter. You needed to accept that you both just weren't meant to be and that was okay. You were strong and deep down you knew you would get over it. The important thing is that Ed was happy and that you will never stop being best friends.
When you looked up from your lap, you looked at your best friend's face. He had a neutral expression that didn't give away what he was thinking, but you'd never seen him look so peaceful before.
He looked away from your gaze to look at the wristclock.
“It's 4:00 pm, Y/N. I think it's time.”
You nodded in acceptance with some unshed tears and got up off the ground, walking peacefully away from Ed so he could enjoy his long-awaited date.
“Y/N where are you going?” You heard Ed's voice after walking a little less than a meter.
You turned around, confused only to see an Edmund who was clearly trying very hard not to burst out laughing. The left hand was shoved in the pocket of the trousers and the right held the bouquet with the favourite flowers of the mysterious girl.
Wait…
are the mysterious girl, Y/N/N. I can't believe you didn't notice sooner!" He exclaimed with a huge smile on his face.
"What?!?"
“These are your favourite things, sweetheart. I wanted to know your opinion about everything because it was everything for you.
“But… That day you said she said yes” You pointed, still not believing the situation you were in.
“It needed to be believable. I really wanted to ask you out like a normal person, but I didn't want to ruin our friendship if you didn't feel the same way. I thought that if you saw how well I know you and how thoughtful I could be as a boyfriend you would want me. I'm sorry if I hurte--"
You threw yourself into his arms and kissed him passionately. His lips were as soft and sweet as you'd imagine. He tasted like home.
“Of course, I feel the same, Ed. It's impossible not to love you." You smiled, leaning your forehead against his.
He stole one more peck and held you by the hand so you could enjoy the picnic. The long-awaited date would be the beginning of the most beautiful love story between two soulmates.

requested by @aphroditelxver : hey!! i just saw your edmund one shot "warm" and fell in love with the way you write!!<3 so may i request one were edmund is jealous of reader talking to some prince from other country and he confess his love for her? it could also be a part two from "warm"!
wc: 1.6k
pairings: edmund pevensie x gn!feminine!reader
warnings: unedited work, idk if i swear but i probably did, badly written writing as usual, alcohol
a/n: i am so sorry. it was only after i had finished writing this that i realised i was supposed to keep the reader gender neutral. i did give them a dress, so i'm genuinely sorry about that, but i've tried to avoid using pronouns/anything else that indicates gender. and now that it's written like this, i can't think of any other way for it to go. this story can be read as a part 2 to warm or a standalone.
read part 1 here
Tumblr media
Edmund Pevensie was an idiot.
Anyone who glanced at the Just King was immediately taken aback by the vicious glare cemented across his face. It was starkly out of place, for Edmund was surrounded by the finest refinery and culture that Narnia’s neighbouring kingdoms had to offer. Trades and alliances had already been forged with an impressive total of three nations, and the ball wasn’t even in full swing yet. Not to mention, this gala had all been Edmund’s idea. And everything had been going exactly according to his plan.
Except for the part where you twirled around the dance floor, beaming at a tall blonde prince whose hand was placed dangerously low on your back.
Edmund really couldn’t blame him, he supposed. You were easily the most beautiful person in the hall. Your dress was well-fitting, the skirts various shades of blue that shimmered when you moved, akin to a sparkling waterfall. All words that he could ever have spoken wilted and died on his tongue the second he laid eyes on you, leaving a bitter taste in his mouth when he spotted the royal accompanying you.
He decided he couldn’t watch any more when your dance partner twirled you away and quickly into his arms again, earning a delighted shriek from you. Turning around and walking away abruptly, Edmund headed towards his new best friend, the bartender.
Not long after he had drained two glasses of glittery red wine, he felt a rough swat on his head.
“Ouch,” he said dryly, not deigning to acknowledge his little sister with a proper greeting.
“What’s wrong with you?” Lucy asked, scowling at him fiercely, “You’re scaring away every chance we have of forming a treaty with the Archenlanders. Can you stop glaring at their prince?”
“Who’s their prince?” Edmund said, his hand reaching to grab his third glass of wine, but Lucy swatted at it in a rather unqueenly manner until he pulled it back again.
“Prince Anthony, remember? The one Y/N’s entertaining.”
“Ah,” Edmund said, diving forward for the glass again at the reminder, too quick for Lucy to stop him, “The prick.”
Lucy frowned disapprovingly at his words, “Maybe don’t call him that. A treaty with Archenland is invaluable, so keep your jealousy hidden, alright? And not,” she added, signalling to the bartender that she was cutting Edmund off, “In wine.”
Edmund didn’t bother denying what Lucy said. Being the Just King meant he had to be fair, even when confronting his own emotions, even when he’d rather stick forks in his eyes. Heaving a sigh, he stood up from the barstool he had previously sat on, his expression carefully neutralised as he walked up to Peter, joining him in offering greetings to new monarchs who had just arrived.
Tumblr media
You stumbled out behind the billowing curtains into the balcony, heaving a large sigh. It was exhausting having to accompany Prince Anthony around, considering that the man would not stop talking about himself. You really didn’t need to know all of his sword-fighting feats, and privately, you thought that a certain dark-haired individual could trump him in a matter of seconds. And although he kept commenting about how your blue dress matched the hue of his eyes, you couldn’t help but think that you’d compliment a brown-eyed King better. Having disguised your departure from Anthony’s side as a visit to the lavatory, you gripped the balcony railings and took a deep breath of fresh air, grateful for the break from the stuffiness.
“Wow. Is the ball I’m throwing that bad?”
You startled, head whipping around quick, only for your shoulders to slump in relief once you recognised Edmund.
“It is,” you said, walking closer to the man, trying to keep your eyes fixed on his face so he couldn’t tell just how much you liked his suit, “The company makes it a little more bearable, though.”
Edmund shucked a laugh at the implicit compliment, leaning against the railing as you came to stand next to him, his body tilted to face you, “I’m glad you think so highly of me.”
“Who said I was talking about you?” you asked teasingly, your mouth quirking up to the side. Rather than responding to the playful banter, though, Edmund’s smile dropped, eyes leaving yours to stare out at the gates surrounding the castle instead. You frowned at the lack of reception your comment got, lapsing into the tense silence Pevensie was already partaking in.
“How’s it going with Anthony?” Edmund eventually asked, breaching the stillness.
You groaned at the name, earning a half-hearted chuckle from Edmund as you tried to explain your exasperation, “It’s going well enough. He’s so airheaded, as long as I keep the flattery coming, I’m sure he’d sign anything I ask him to. Even the deed to his kingdom, if I wished so.”
“That’s no surprise,” Edmund said, “I’m sure I’d sign anything if someone like you asked me to.”
You stilled, unsure if he was flirting with you when he added, “That is, if it was possible for anyone to be as bossy as you.”
You punched his shoulder lightly as he grinned at you, his hand coming up to clasp your wrist. The sound of violins fluttered through the flowing curtains, and Edmund looked down at you, raising his eyebrow in a silent question. When you tipped your chin in a silent answer, his hand found your waist as your free hand lifted to rest on his shoulder.
The two of you danced around the balcony floor, Edmund swaying you this way and that, knowing just when to pull his foot away from yours, out of danger in the nick of time. You sent him an apologetic smile each time, knowing the clumsy dancer you were. The only reason you hadn’t tripped over your own feet yet were the dance lessons Edmund had insisted on giving you earlier on, and, more honestly, the solid warmth of his arm, looped around your back, keeping you upright. It felt natural to you, unlike the way your body stiffened when it had been Prince Anthony in front of you, subliminally fighting alongside your instincts.
“You know,” Edmund said as he spun you around easily, “You were supposed to be my date to this dance.”
“Was I?” you asked, scrunching up your nose as you tried to remember.
“Yes,” Edmund assured you, “You promised me, in the library last winter.”
“I was half asleep, Ed,” you chuckled, “I didn’t even respond, forget promise. Besides, you didn’t actually ask me, you know. You assumed.”
“Was I wrong to?” Edmund demanded, “Was it so much of a stretch, considering how much time we spend together, how much we care about each other? Or rather, how much I care about you?”
“What are you trying to say?” you asked, your feet slowing until they eventually reached a stop.
Edmund’s arm pulled away from your waist to hold both of your hands in his, thumbs splaying across your palms.
“I’m saying I hated watching you dance with Anthony, the Prin- the Prick. And I think it should have been me with you instead.”
There. He had done it now. His confession was out in the open, a weight off his chest, and now the ball was in your park. Edmund’s eyes flew wildly over your face, scanning for your reaction, for any response, when your mouth broke into a beaming grin, dazzling with contagious happiness.
“Wow,” you said, smiling so wide the corners of Edmund’s lips upturned, too, an unconscious reaction from looking at you. “Wow,” you said again, hands abandoning Edmund’s to fist into his shirt, “It’s totally not like I’ve waited years to hear that.”
And before the flustered boy could even think about forming words to respond, you tugged him down, close, to meet your waiting lips.
Tumblr media
“Pay up,” was the first thing Lucy said when you and Edmund announced your new relationship to his siblings.
You and Edmund exchanged wide-eyed looks as Peter and Susan grumbled, their hands fumbling for their wallets.
“Wait, you guys bet on us?” Edmund asked, astounded.
“Yes,” Susan said primly. Lucy explained it further, “These two didn’t have any faith in you. I was the only one who said you’d confess first.”
“Wow,” Edmund said sarcastically as you laughed, “Betrayed by my own family.”
“Sorry, Ed, but with all the blushing and stuttering, I thought it’d be a miracle if you’d even be able to get out a single word,” Peter explained, earning laughs from all the women in the room.
“Oh!” Susan spoke up suddenly, cutting off her own chuckle, “Wait! Who initiated the first kiss?”
“That would be me,” you said, raising your hand, and winking at Edmund. Lucy and Peter groaned in unison, Peter throwing his entire wallet at Susan in exasperation while Lucy forked over half her treasure.
“You’re joking,” Edmund said, watching the interaction. “What else have you bet on?”
“Lots of things, little brother,” Peter said, leaning over to ruffle Ed’s dark hair. Lowering his voice so he was only audible to Edmund, he continued, “You better be the one to propose. I’ve got a lot of money riding on that one.”
“Don’t worry,” Ed said back in a low voice, watching as you spoke to Lucy and Susan animatedly, mentally capturing the small smile on your face, “I have every intention to.”

Catch the queen
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
yandere!king OC x fem reader
Summary: you're fleeing the evil king and hide in the village, hoping to blend in before you can run away for real. Edmund loses his mind and decides to lure you out with fire.
Warnings: yandere, arson, knives, harassment, drunk men, isolation, behading, corpses, a bit of Stockholm symdrome, hints of abuse, name calling
Word count: 4k.
Edmund’s arms are like suffocating cages. Everytime his hands touch you, you lose the ability to breathe. His kisses feel like fire and burn your skin every time they press against you. You can’t take it anymore. You don’t want to be his pretty doll.
You have nothing planned, but you know that you need to be quiet and run the fastest you possibly can.
Quietly, you get out of his arms. They’re difficult to bend off of you, but finally, they loosen up. You’re careful not to step on any creaky floor planks as you try to dress yourself. Covering yourself in a dark blue cloak and your body in a warm dress is normally a hard task, but near impossible now that you have to look over your shoulder and try to make your trembling hands cooperate. You grab your dagger, a gift from Edmund. He wants you to be able to protect yourself if he’s ever away from you.
Edmund twists and turns in bed. He never stays still unless he holds you in his arms. You have to get out of here before he realizes that you're no longer in his embrace. Guards are walking through the mighty corridors, but you do your best to avoid them all and sink into dark corners when they pass by. Heart beating loudly in your ears. A part of you regrets ever trying to leave. They’ll notice you soon enough and then you’ll have to get down on your bare knees and beg forgiveness from Edmund. He’ll revel in it and you can’t stand seeing that satisfied smirk on his face when he once again gets what he wants.
Finally. Finally, you manage to leave the castle. A fresh breeze hits your face. WIthout looking back, you run. But where? The forest is deep and dangerous at night. Thieves hide where to get away from the royal knights. If they noticed you, you'd be their hostage. Edmund would get you back to every price and you'd be right back where you started. You have to blend in to get away. You have to go to the village.
It’s late at night and you doubt that anyone is up to help you. No lights are shining in the windows and all doors are locked. The streets are as empty as the grave. You pull the cloak closer to your body. What should you do? It’s not safe to be out on the countryside roads during the night. You can’t leave the village in the middle of the night and even if you do, the chances of your legs giving up before you reach another is too big to take.
You run through the dark alleyways, looking for somewhere to spend the night. Tomorrow morning when the sun rises, you’ll move on. It’s dangerous to stay in the same kingdom as Edmund. He’ll find you too quickly.
You find a barn where you decide to spend the night. Carefully, you lay down in the hay and grass, making yourself comfortable. You shiver at the cold air and hug yourself to keep yourself warm. It takes an hour until you finally fall asleep.
Drunken male voices wake you up a while later.
“Oh, look at this”, one slurs. “A woman. Let’s have some fun.”
You freeze and reach for the dagger Edmund’s given you, ready to go to attack.
“What’s a pretty lady doing here?” another one asks, sounding just as drunk. He hiccups. “Did we get a blessing? Oh, we’re so lucky.”
You hurry up from your hiding place and try to make a run for it, but the two men grab you.
“Don’t leave yet”, they purr drunkenly. “We’re not done yet.”
You breathe out in stress and give the men deadly glares. Something clears up in their dull eyes.
“Holy shit, it’s the queen!” one of them gasps.
They’ll have to let you go now, you think.
“We’re really lucky then”, the other one says.
You sigh and squeeze your eyes shut. Quickly, you kick the man in front of you and stab the one behind you with your dagger, leaving it behind. The two of them grunt and fall down on the dirty floor. You run for your life out of the barn and into the dark village. The men run behind you and you know that you have to get away before they find you again. You duck into someone’s backyard and hide behind a bush. The two men run past you. You gulp. Is this how things will be from now on? You sniffle and hide your face in your cloak’s sleeve.
“Why are you crying?” a tiny voice asks.
You look up and see a little boy hugging a teddy bear. He’s standing in front of you. You hadn’t seen him, he blends into the night air.
“I’m scared” you whisper and force a smile. “Do you live here?”
The boy nods.
“I’m sorry for trespassing. I needed to hide from those bad men who followed me.”
“Are you really the queen?”
“Yes.”
“Why aren’t you in the castle?”
You wipe your tears carefully.
“I’m playing hide and seek with the king”, you whisper. “I can’t let him find me or he’ll win.”
“I can help you!”
You smile slightly and caress the little boy’s cheek.
“I can’t let you get involved”, you sniffle. “The king is a sore loser, he’ll be mad if someone helps me. He’ll think I’m cheating.”
In more ways than one.
“I’m not a sore loser!” the boy smiles.
“That’s good”, you say. “Edmund could learn from you.”
“I want to be king one day!”
“I think you should be one. You seem like a smart king.”
“Leon, who are you talking to?” a female voice asks from the back door. “You should be sleeping!”
“Mom, mom! The queen is here!”
“Leon, don’t lie-”
You stand up and the woman gasps. She’s wearing a brown, cheap dress with her head in a messy bun.
“Y-Your majesty!” she stutters and bows. “Leon, go inside.”
The little boy runs past his mother and leaves you with his mother. The woman hurries over to you.
“Your majesty, why are you here?” she asks. “Are you alright?”
“I’m … I’m hiding”, you whisper. “I have to get away from here.”
“Do you need anything? Can I get you something? Are you hungry?”
You can feel your stomach rumble slightly and nod shyly. The woman smiles and nods at the back door.
“Come here, I’ll get you something to eat.”
You follow the woman into the little house and into an even smaller kitchen. She walks over to the stove and starts to prepare something that smells like childhood. In a few minutes she places a bowl of hot porridge on the table in front of you. You take a spoonful.
“I apologize if it’s bad”, she says nervously. “I know that you’re used to high class dishes.”
“No, I like it. It reminds me of my mothers cooking. I miss that.”
Leon runs over to the table. You pet his hair with a smile. The woman sends him to bed.
“Why are you up?” you ask the mother. “It’s late …”
“I know”, she sighs sadly. “But I get so worried when my husband is out and about. I can’t go to sleep before he’s home. It seems to disrupt Leon too. He insists on staying up with me, but I’d rather not have him see his father’s state.”
“How old is he?”
“Four.”
“He’s adorable.”
“My queen, can you tell me why you’re out hiding? Has something happened?” She shakes her head. “Forgive me for asking. I shouldn’t.”
“It’s okay. It’s just … some things. All you need to know is that I have to get away from here.”
“Where are you going?”
“I don’t know, I’m not sure yet. Away from here. I can’t go to my parents either. I don’t know where I should go. But I’ll figure it out. In time.”
“Stay here for the night. We’ll figure something out tomorrow.”
“Thank you, you’re too kind.”
Despite the woman’s kindness, you have a hard time falling asleep. What will Edmund think when he wakes up? What will he do?
Tumblr media
The bed feels oddly cold for the both of you to be here. He feels around after you, but can’t feel another body. Quickly, he opens his eyes and looks around. Where are you?
“Y/N?” he asks. “Where are you?”
No answer. He gets up from the bed quicker than a cat getting scared.
“Y/N, answer me!” he says, growing nervous. “Don’t hide!”
When he doesn’t get an answer again, he freezes. You haven’t escaped, have you? He’d like to think that you know better. Edmund barges up from his bed and out into the mighty corridors. He shouts at the guards to collect the knights and prepare his horse. He’ll find you. And if you refuse to show, or if someone is hiding you … they'll feel his wrath. His plan will make sure you never dare to go against him like this ever again.
With no trace and no idea where you could be hiding, they decide to do the most practical thing in this situation. They ride into the village, gaining all of the people's attention. The king stops his horse right by his secretary’s and looks over the crowd that has gathered to see what has made the king come down to them. You’re none of the spectators. The king’s secretary holds up a piece of paper and a megaphone-looking thing in front of his face to make sure that everyone will hear him.
“Tonight, the queen ran away from the castle!” the secretary says loudly. “We suspect that she is hiding among you somewhere and that one of you is shielding her. If you don’t give her back in an hour, we will burn this village to the ground in our hunt for his wife. Now the king would like to say a few words.”
He backs away, letting Edmund take the spotlight.
"Y/N, you better come out!" Edmund shouts with a gaze running among the crowd. “Don't be stupid and sacrifice so many innocent lives just because you are afraid! You don't have to be afraid, my queen! I will never hurt you! You can trust me! We belong together and it’s about time you accept that!” He turns to his secretary and lowers his voice. “I’m going to kill the one hiding her from me.”
Tumblr media
You can’t hear him, you have no idea of what he’s planning. You’re sleeping soundly in the bed you’ve gotten. When you wake up, it’s too late.
“Wait, what’s going on?” you ask as you see people run past the window.
You can see a layer of thick, black smoke covering the sky. A flame is spreading among the houses.
“We have to leave!” the woman shouts and picks up Leon in her arms. “Your majesty, come with us, we’ll shield you!”
You follow her out into the chaos. People are screaming and crying and running for their lives. You get pushed left to right as the big crowd flees. Heat is hitting you in the face in an uncomfortable manner. It’s hard to breathe.
“Knights!” Leon gasps in awe. “And the king!”
You freeze and turn around, seeing the royal horses. You can glimpse Edward on his white lady. Without a second doubt, you move closer into the overpacked crowd. You look around, seeing the two men from yesterday.
“There’s the whore!” they shout.
You look at the little boy in his mothers arms and gulp.
“I have to go”, you say quickly to them and caress Leon’s head. “I’ll find you later. Now you have to hurry!”
“Are you sure, your majesty?” the mother asks.
You nod and give them a push in the other direction. “Hurry!”
They leave. You start to run in another direction before the men can catch up to you. You run into a less packed alleyway. They corner you against a burning wall.
“You fucking bitch”, one of them hisses and presses your dagger against your neck. “You don’t shove your knife into me and think you can get away with it! I don’t care who the fuck you are, I’ll make sure you never dare to try to do this again!”
“This fire is your fault, you fucking bitch”, the other growls. “You’ve ruined our entire livelihood! You’re so fucking selfish.”
You kick the man in front of you between his legs and run. The other man trips over his friend, giving you a bit of an advantage. You end up on an empty street. You stop when you see the white horse a few meters in front of you. You want to run, but the mere sight of him makes you paralyzed.
“W-What have you done?” you gasp. “Look around!”
“I had to get you to show yourself one way or another”, he says calmly. “No one told me where you were. I gave them an hour to give you to me or I’d burn down their little village.” He shrugs. “Yet they didn’t … so all of this are the consequences of trying to hide you from me. It’s not my fault the peasants disobeyed me.”
Tears start to run down your cheeks. Is all of this your fault? If only you had known about his idiotic idea, you could have stopped it.
Edmund jumps down from his horse and opens his arms.
“Come here, my love”, he says softly. “You have nowhere to run. Why don’t you just do yourself a favor and return to me? You can’t hide from me in the end. Be a good girl, alright?”
“I’m scared, Edmund”, you admit through your sobs. You’re not sure what you’re more afraid of — him or the men following you.
“I know, my love, I know.” He gulps. “Come into my arms. I’ll protect you. I’ll make sure that everything will be okay, alright?”
You hesitate. It’s so tempting to run into his arms and let him take control again. These have been a couple of terrifying hours and you don’t want them to continue. You want a roof over your head again and the safety of having your necessities met again. Staying out on the street won’t be safe.
“It won’t matter where you go, I’ll always find you”, Edmund continues. “Your righteous place is with me. You have to understand that. We married — you belong to me by law. You can’t just run away from me like this. Come here, my queen, let me hold you.”
An immense exhaustion creeps into your body. You’ve been in survival mode for hours by now, your fight is over, you can’t win against Edmund. You look around. If you stay here any longer, you’ll start to burn and people will get even more hurt. All of this is your fault. Everyone will blame you for this. You won’t be safe here. All you want is to relax and have someone else take care of everything … but Edmund’s not a good person. If you go back, he’ll punish you. But maybe that’s better than having an entire village after you, wanting you dead for burning down their houses? You look over to Edmund, at his soft, loving eyes. You run over to him, into his strong arms. He wraps his arms around you tightly and you sob into his shoulder. If everyone hates you for the fire … you know that he will still be on your side. He’ll always be by your side.
“Don’t cry, my love, it hurts me so”, he whispers into your ear and holds you tightly. “Everything will be okay now.” He pulls back, cups your cheeks frantically and gives your lips a desperate kiss. He presses his own against yours, moving faster than you can keep up with. “Fuck, I always feel like a drunken man when I’m with you.”
Speaking of drunken men, your fan club is back. You look over your shoulder with a small whimper. However, you’re not as scared anymore. Not when you have the king’s strong arms wrapped around you. Edmund notices something.
“Y/N, why do they have your dagger?” he asks suspiciously as his grip on you tightens.
You press yourself close to him without thinking and he clenches his jaw before tightening his arms around you in a protective manner.
“Don’t worry, my dear”, he says coldly. “I’ll kill them for touching you.”
He pulls out his sword as his knights ride over.
“Make sure Y/N doesn’t leave”, he says and gives you to the closest knight. “I’m going to take care of these men.”
Edmund runs after the two men with his sword raised. The knight who holds you helps you up on Edmund’s horse.
“Your majesty”, he says. “We need to move out of here before the fire traps us. I’ll lead your horse.”
You hug the white horse’s neck as the knights lead you through the destroyed village, out of the danger zone. You can’t watch it.
Edmund’s soon back. The two men are in chains and led by some knights. Edmund holds your dagger in his hands before placing it together with his sword.
“Are you hurt, my love?” he asks worriedly and stands by the horse. “You have a mark on your throat. Did they try to hurt you?”
You nod slowly. Edmund turns to the two men with his own fire burning in his eyes.
“How fucking dare you think that you could touch my wife?!” he growls and slaps one of them as hard as he can. “You fucking left a mark on my wife!”
He spits at their feet before walking back to his horse and jumps up in front of you. He forces your hands to hug his waist. You rest your cheek on his back to hide your crying face. Edmund caresses your intertwined hands over his stomach and rides over to his knights.
“Don’t cry, my dear”, he whispers softly over his shoulder. “You’re safe now.” He turns to his knights and his voice goes cold. “I got what I came for. Let’s go back.”
“What about the village, your majesty?” a knight asks.
“Pour some water on it.”
Without saying anything more, the king rides away. He holds one of his hands over yours to comfort your sobs. He lifts one of your hands to his lips and gives it kisses.
“You’ve must been so scared among all of those horrible, horrible people”, he says over his shoulder. “Don’t worry though, Y/N, you’re never going out into the real world again. Never again, you hear me?”
You nod against his shoulder. You’re not sure that the people would even want you back into their village after this.
He stops the horse out on the castle’s front yard and helps you down by your waist. Some maids run out to meet you and Edmund hesitates giving you to them.
“Give her a bath”, he demands. “I can only imagine all the fleas and bacterias she has gotten. She smells like smoke. When she’s done, take her into our chamber and make sure she stays there. I’ll talk to her later.”
He gives you to the maids who pull you inside the castle and gives you the hottest bath you’ve ever encountered. You’re sure your skin is melting off. They dress you in the finest of silk and lead you to your shared chamber. You sit down in the bed, waiting for Edmund to come back. He enters the room thirty minutes later.
“I’m not going to let you off the hook”, he says and pulls up his sleeves.
“I won’t run away again, Edmund, I promise”, you whine in fear. “Please-”
“Shh, darling, I don’t think you have the right to shout at me. Not after the hell you’ve put me through. You should be happy that I don’t behead you together with the two dogs who thought they could touch what's mine!” He runs his veiny hand through his dark hair. “I’m going to give you two punishments. One, watch the beheading-”
“I refuse-”
“Shut up, Y/N. Two, you are going to spend three days in the tower with me.”
The tower is like the dungeons just without the rats and prisoners. You gulps.
“You’re going to learn how much of the things you have here is thanks to me, my love”, Edmund says. “Every piece of clothing you own, every day you spend under my roof, every bite of food you get … is thanks to me. When I’m not there, you have nothing and you get chased by disgusting men like those two in the dungeons. After our little vacation to the tower, you’ll understand. Get up, we have a beheading to watch.”
He pulls you with him to the balcony with a cramping hold. The two men are put on display out on the castle’s front yard and they’re facing you. Edmund stands beside you like a stone.
“Please don’t!” one of the men shouts in desperation. “Please, we’re sorry!”
“Sorry, my ass”, you mutter.
Edmund chuckles and kisses your temple.
“Your majesty, please, you met my son!” one of them shouts. “Leon!”
You frown, feelings suddenly shifting. Leon …
“Please, don’t deprive him of a father!”
“Edmund …”, you whisper sadly.
“He was going to deprive me of a wife”, Edmund answers coldly. “He’s going to die.”
“But he has a son, Edmund! I know he’s an asshole, but-”
“Do you want him to set an example for his son, hm? Do you want him to treat his wife the way he treated you?”
You think of the nice lady who helped you and her adorable little son. You’ve given them enough problems. If you let this man go back to them …
“You’re right”, you whisper firmly. “Kill them.”
“That’s my girl.”
Edmund shouts for the guards to end the men's pathetic lives. You watch with hate in your eyes. Leon and his mother will never hurt again and they’ll not be able to harass any more girls in the village.
“Now we don’t have to worry about them anymore, my dear”, Edmund says when the corpses get pulled off the ground. “Let’s go to the tower now.”
“So you can indoctrinate me?” you mutter sarcastically.
“Exactly.”
He pulls you by the arm with him through the castle’s mighty corridors. He walks behind you up the spiral stone stairs to the tower’s little room. If you stop or slow down, he gives you a small push.
“Move those little legs for me, pretty”, he encourages you. “We’re not there yet.”
“But there’s so many stairs”, you complain.
“You ran all the way down to the village with those legs, you can walk a couple of stairs.”
You reach the rounded room in what feels like an hour. You sink down into a sitting position on the old, wooden floor. Edmund chuckles at you.
“You need to grow some muscles, my dear”, he says and then frowns. “Or don’t. The weaker you are, the less I have to worry about you running away again.”
You look around in the room, noticing that it’s completely empty.
“As you can see”, Edmund says and closes the wooden plugs over the window. “There is nothing here. If you want to be comfortable and not sit on the floor, you’ll have to sit in my lap. If you want food, you’ll have to ask me so I can get it for you and if you’re cold, you’ll have to cuddle up to me. Any questions?”
You’re about to give him a sassy remark, but hold back. It won’t end well for you if you do.
“Good girl”, Edmund smirks and sneaks his arms around your waist. “Now let’s enjoy each other's company, hm?”
This will be the death of you.

summary. headcanons of your relationship with edmund pevensie while dating. (gn reader)
— straight up fluff, nothing else. PART 1/?
Tumblr media
— Edmund leaves little notes everywhere. In the pages of your books, the pockets of your pants, etc. Usually they just consist of sweet words and reminders to eat and take care of yourself as a much needed endorphin boost. He always makes sure to fill up the entire piece of paper, front and back until there's no space to write any more loving words. — Random "I love you"s throughout the day for no particular reason. — Playful arguments over the most miniscule things, I mean seriously, the two of you bicker like a married couple. Edmund can be quite argumentative, but not in the way you expect. No, usually you quarrel over the correct way to toast a piece of bread, topics such as that. None of it is serious of course, nine times out of ten it turns into a tickle fight that ends with a cuddle session anyway. — Edmund naturally smiles excessively around you. He doesn't really think about it, it just happens. Like this guy literally GLOWS when he sees you, it's not even funny. When you look at him, he smiles. When you rant, he smiles. When you talk about your interests, he smiles. No matter where the two of you are and what you're doing, he's always grinning around you, both of you in your own world. — Even though Edmund is one of the most renowned swordsman in Narnia, that doesn't mean he's immune to the occasional injury. And so, you have to tend to his wounds quite often. Sometimes you end up scolding him if the wound was the result of reckless actions and impulsive behavior, and yes he appreciates the concern, but he just thinks it's cute how your lips form into a pout whenever he comes back with a new injury to tend to. He adores how much you care for him, even if it's just through small actions. — Absolute SUCKER for when you kiss his scars. Edmund used to see his scars as a nuisance, only there to remind him of the treacheries of war and danger. But of course, life has different perspectives for different people. So when you came around, reassuring him that his blemishes were a sign of his bravery and strength from the pain he endured, he felt like he was going to cry. And the second your lips came in contact with a particular scar just shy of his collarbone, he immediately felt comfort and a sense of safety wash over him. Maybe it was the warmth of your lips, or the alleviation of your words, whatever it was, it made him feel like maybe everything was going to be okay. — Kisses on the nape and shoulder. (goes both ways) — Since we're on the topic of kissing, Edmund has a thing for tracing your jawline before or while the two of you are kissing, or just sharing an intimate moment in general. He prefers to rest one hand on the curve of your hip, and the other hand caressing your jaw, no matter what the position is. He also enjoys trailing little pecks from the side of your neck to the corner of your lips before he finally presses his lips against yours. — Chess dates!! Yeah, it doesn't sound like the most romantic activity but, cmon, it's Edmund Pevensie. He'll find a way to make it memorable. And while he loves a fair match, (who doesn't?) sometimes he just so happens to "accidentally" put his king in danger and — oh will you look at that, you won. Yeah, maybe he changed up his moves a little so you would win, but it's all worth it to him. He adores the sight of your eyes lighting up, and how you throw your hands up in triumph and shout in glee. While you're busy celebrating, he gazes at you fondly with an impossibly soft look in his eyes. One of his hands is lying on his cheek, supporting his head, while his other hand still remains on his king. Even though he "lost", his smile is wide as ever because as long as you're happy, he's happy.
— On days when he's not busy with training or just occupied with the responsibilities that come with being one of the kings of Narnia, picnic dates are a must. He cooks up your favorite meals and packs them up in a picnic box along with the traditional red and white checkered blanket, and off you go. It's kind of just a de-stresser for him. Quality time with you and a home cooked meal to go along with it. Sometimes he brings you to brings you to picturesque flower fields, or the patch of green grass directly in front of the river front. No matter where it is, Edmund has his reasons for why he chose those specific locations. They always remind him of you. The two of you watch the sun slowly disappear under the horizon as you both lay on the checkered blanket, with your head resting on his chest and his arm lazily wrapped around your waist, it looks just like a scene straight out of a fairytale.

He's deeply committed to you, and loves to declare it proudly. Sometimes he writes short poems about you, recounting his favorite moments the two of you shared. He describes the way your hair blows in the wind while the two of you are horseback riding, or how your smile is one of his favorite sights, he writes about anything regarding you. He just pours out his feelings onto a piece of paper. And when the stack of poetry about you piles up too high on his desk, he ties it up neatly in a ribbon and places it on your bedside table for you to wake up to. (CHIVALRY IS NOT DEAD GUYS 🗣️🗣️ ) — Edmund has a thing for kissing your hand. Like not even as a greeting, just in general. He just thinks of it as another way of showing his love and admiration for you. He brushes his lips against your palm and trails kisses up your fingertips, like HELLO??? — All in all, your relationship with Edmund Pevensie is truly one of a kind. ∙ u guys i know i havent posted a proper story since like may, and honestly i have no excuse i was just being lazy af. also my love for edmund has kind of faded but i started writing this months ago and decided i might as well finish it. ∙ so next time i post, it probably won't be edmund pevensie related, OR MAYBE IT WILL!! i still have many ideas (don't unfollow me pls im sorry LMAO) ∙ until next time, (and trust me, there will be a next time.) xx valerie.

SFW🌿
⭑ It was as if Aslan had planned it all along
⭑ Someone to humble the High King; an outsider, an outcast. Someone that would ultimately merge parts of Narnia, and come together without fuss.
⭑ You bickered and snapped at each other from the day you met until your wedding (and it still happens from time to time)
⭑ Edmund loved you - and initially thought you would be the perfect match for him. But you were too alike, and the eldest brother had to marry first.
⭑ But after some time, he realised that Aslan was right. And you were better off as friends (not that he let anyone know his feelings).
⭑ Your wedding was HUGE, much bigger than you could have ever imagined. All of Narnia stopped for a whole day and night to celebrate the union
⭑ You both wore white, but his was a warmer cream and yours, a cooler ivory
⭑ Edmund was his best man and either Lucy or your own sister was your maid of honour.
⭑ Aslan officiated (obviously. And Lucy wanted him to wear a special hat)
⭑ And Susan was the official ‘witness’ (signing of the documents part)
⭑ Peter always sleeps on the right side of the bed
⭑ He’s a morning person. And gets grumpier as the day goes on. But perks up whenever he sees you
⭑ His petnames for you are, ‘Darling, Sweetheart, My Love, My Heart.’
⭑ Your petnames for him are, ‘Honey,’ ‘My Liege’ (said usually with a dramatic curtsy and head bow). But most times you just call him, ‘Peter,’ ‘Blondie’ or ‘Sword Boy.’
⭑ Training with you:
“No, see you’re not holding your sword high enough-” Peter moved to correct your form.
“What? Yes I am?” You rebutted, your eyebrows knitting together.
“Will you just let me help?” He retorted, giving you a stern look.
⭑ The others love it. They always watch on when you’re at it
“Peter should really learn to keep his mouth closed,” Lucy sighed as she and Susan looked on from the window.
⭑ You do feel insecure at times, but Peter is always there, either physically or emotionally hoisting you back on your feet.
“We’re together for a reason. We belong together.”
⭑ Peter can be very romantic
⭑ He never forgets a special occasion/event/milestone.
⭑ You’re usually the one that does
⭑ And he’s more sensitive than you are
⭑ Peter was very very jealous when Caspian came along
“I don’t know what Susan sees in him anyway...”
“Well he is handsome-”
Peter turned to you with raised eyebrows, “Oh is he now?”
⭑ Lucy loves spending time with you. You’re like another sister, and she loves it!
⭑ Susan absolutely adores you, especially now that she can outnumber Peter
⭑ Peter knows your favourite colour, flower, stone, piece of jewelry, day of the week, memory etc.
⭑ He suprises you with how well he’s remembered everything. You on the other hand ... don’t have the greatest memory. But you do try!
⭑ You’re always worried for the other’s safety
⭑ And you actually get into a lot more fights than he does
⭑ Relationship Tropes:
✧ Rivals to Acquaintances to Friends to Lovers/Married
  ✧ Mature/Responsible x Snarky/Fierce
  ✧ Sun x Moon

Edmund Pevensie, Soulmate AU
Tumblr media
Part two of this
CW: Some violence but nothing super graphic. Some swearing. Serious enemies to lovers vibes. Telmar!Reader, so some physical description to match that sorry.
Cair Paravel was a testament of shining marble, fine tapestries and golden fixtures. It was the envy of many a nearby kingdom, most of whom had tried and failed to imitate its beauty. The same, however, could not be said of the dungeons.
The moment the dank, frigid air rose from behind the barred door, Edmund realized just how appealing his empty bed suddenly was. Everyone swore this part of the castle was haunted and though Edmund personally didn’t believe in such foolishness, he very much understood how those sorts of rumours came to be. He tried to stand tall and play at being courageous and stoic as he walked alongside the young guard down the winding steps, but his heart just wasn’t in it. Before long, Edmund found himself jumping at every distant sound and balking at every shadow cast in the flickering torch light, even when in fact said shadows were none other than his own.
Despite the fact that his young guard had been so anxious among the fine tapestries and clean rushes of the upstairs halls, the young man seemed completely comfortable among the dripping walls and dirt floors that created the bowels of the castle. He strode beside Edmund with an easy confidence, his grip on the torch he carried not wavering once, even when a rat ran nearly beneath his boot and announced its arrival with a piercing squeak.
When he managed to recover some of his wits and find enough voice with which to speak, Edmund asked the guard about it, more than a little curious on how such a skittish man could remain so calm in a place that left greater men shaking. By way of response, the youth merely shrugged and said “Everything that could hurt a fellow down here is already locked up, and the rats never bothered me none. S’far worse out in the forests”
While Edmund could see the guard’s side of things, he personally would have much rather been out in the forest tonight. He’d been riding those trails since he was a boy, and in that time he’d communed with all manner of creatures, magic and mundane alike. However, in his many years, he wasn’t sure he’d ever seen anything quite like you.
Opposite to the castle in every way, the dungeons were incredibly small by the usual standard. They consisted in their entirety of three cells, while the rest of the space was mostly used as a recreational area for the various guards to play cards and the like. Usually, any prisoners awaiting trial were spread evenly between the three cells to avoid overcrowding and the potential for fights and disease to spread. That was not the case tonight, however.
Someone had taken the liberty of placing every inmate into the leftmost cell, and despite still having some room to move about or even lie down, the people locked inside had all crammed themselves into the back corner like bees in a hive. Edmund nearly thought the first cell was empty, until he caught a glimpse of several wide, fearful pairs of eyes that gleamed back at him in the ruddy torchlight. When he approached the cell to have a closer look, he was met with an eerie silence rather than the usual sighs, shuffling and coughs that occurred when you had a small crowd of people together. While Narnia was not known for housing a particularly nasty sort of criminal, the bulk of which were pickpockets and street hustlers, they were also not the type to scare easy.
Whatever was making these people frightened was bad enough that the guards had felt the need to keep the middle cell completely empty. This provided around ten more feet of space between the leftmost cell and the right most cell. Edmund stared between the middle cell and the occupied one on the left, trying to puzzle out what was so awful it had everyone this nervous. Even the guards seemed tenser than usual. They played hands of wist in almost completely silence, and had barely given Edmund a glance since he’d arrived. Normally, every soldier within spitting distance would be tripping over themselves bowing and trying to greet him.
Half expecting to find a dragon or an ogre, Edmund took a deep breath and approached the last cell. His boots made a hollow, tapping sound on the floor as he walked, each one an echo alongside the heartbeat pounding in his ears.
When he reached the padlocked door he stopped, and peered between the bars into the gloom. He could barely make out what was inside, if there was anything to begin with. An oppressive sort of darkness clung to this corner of the dungeon like cobwebs, making it nearly impossible to see anything farther than arm’s length away.
The torch that hung on the wall between centre and left cell had long since gone out. It sat, cold and forgotten in its sconce as though nobody had been willing to risk coming any closer to light it. Though it had been many years since Edmund had feared the dark, the sight of the blackened torch wasn’t a comforting one either.
When his eyes finally adjusted to the surrounded darkness, he caught his first glimpse of you. Edmund was immediately struck by the fact that, for whatever reason, someone had gone through the trouble of binding you up like a Christmas turkey. A pair of steel manacles had been clamped around your wrists, with a matching set around your ankles and a chain that looped between both so that you couldn’t sit upright properly, or move much at all really. There was also a rope twisted around your body in such a way that it bound your arms firmly to your sides, and forced your own legs to rest parallel with the legs of the wooden stool beneath you.
This set up alone would have been enough to hold back a drunken Minotaur, let alone a mere slip of a girl. Whichever one of the guards had shut you up in here clearly thought immobilizing you completely wasn’t good enough. A gag of rough spun cloth had been shoved between your lips and tied so tightly about your face, that it was tugging the edges of your mouth back towards your ears.
A bubble began to expand in Edmund’s gut, something that turned icy cold and burning hot in waves and made him feel as though he was about to be sick on the dirt floor. Memories came to the forefront of his mind, as though he had slipped into a waking nightmare. He could feel a gag against his own mouth, ropes biting at his wrists and the faint sounds of a war camp in his ears. Sweat beaded on his brow, and he had to rest his head for a moment against the cool metal bars to steady himself.
In the dark, Edmund could just make out the faint outlines of your face. He couldn’t read your expression, but he could tell that you were watching him. For a moment, he thought he detected a bit of sympathy in your eyes, a softness he didn’t expect. Then, you blinked and tossed your head in a haughty sort of manner, as though you didn’t give a shit if Edmund dropped dead right then and there.
Whatever he had seen in your eyes was quickly replaced by a steely sort of rage that seemed much more appropriate, given the circumstances. Disgusted with the situation and with himself, Edmund took a deep breath, squared his shoulders, and turned to face the guards.
“What is the meaning of this?” he demanded, his voice echoing about the otherwise silent room in a kingly fashion “You have her tied up as though she were some sort of wild animal!”
The guards stared at him dumbly, as though tying up young women was not only an ordinary occurrence for them but an entirely acceptable thing to do. Edmund took another deep breath, and bit the inside of his cheek to force back the frustrated scream that wanted to push its way out. He wasn’t sure what he had expected, it was a day that ended in y after all, and on those days, the guards always acted as though they hadn’t been born with any sense. Thankfully, the Captain stepped forward before Edmund began tearing his hair out in fistfuls.
“She may as well be, your majesty” he said, tugging at his beard while he spoke “She’s done nothing but raise hell and cause trouble since we picked her up by the docks. Screamed like a banshee the whole way down, and then flew at us like a little wildcat the second we opened the caged wagon. She’s a biter too, look what she did to one of my lads.”
From the corner of his eye, Edmund saw a young man leave the card tables and quickly approach, though the Captain had not officially summoned anyone. The soldier could have been the twin of the other guard who’d escorted Edmund from upstairs, save for the thick white bandage in place where his left ear should have been. Already, a large, dark red blotch was forming against the white cotton, and it was all Edmund could do not to flinch in sympathy.
“G’on boy, show his Majesty what’s happened.”
The boy shuffled nervously back and forth for a moment, before reaching up to unwind the bandages. It was slow work, parts of the fabric had stuck together with dried blood and with each new layer shed, the young man seemed to grow weaker and more pallid. When there was nothing left but a coil of stained cotton on the floor, Edmund took a deep breath and forced himself to have a proper look at the wound. After only a few seconds, he had to look away again, his stomach churning.
“Bloody hell.” he muttered under his breath.
The Captain gave a stiff nod in response, before placing a hand on the young man’s shoulder to hold him steady. Any colour in the boy’s face had completely drained by this point, his skin was as white as the bandages had once been and there was a sheen of sweat upon his brow. If it wasn’t for the Captain supporting him, Edmund truly doubted he would’ve been able to stand at all.
“You asked me why I had the girl locked up, your Majesty. Well, there’s your answer. Mark or no mark, I will not stand idly by and let some Telmarine harlot rip decent Narnian citizens to pieces.”
The mention of the word “mark” made Edmund’s ears prick up, but he tried to feign an appropriately sombre countenance and turned his attention to the matter at hand. Before he gave you any more thought, he had a tetchy captain and a young soldier ending the night with one less ear than he started with to worry about.
“Captain, believe me when I say your concerns are taken with the utmost severity and I will do everything within my power as Kings Justice to make sure any Telmarines remain mindful of whose land they’re docking their ships on. As for this young man, he will be given all the proper recognition and honour…once he’s been seen to by my personal physicians.”
For a moment, it seemed as though some colour returned to the lad’s cheeks, though that also could have been the torchlight playing tricks. At the very least, he managed to give Edmund a wan smile and a soft “Thank you, your Majesty” before he slumped against the Captain’s side and fell silent.
“Captain, have two of your men rouse Lucy and Tumnus. By happy circumstance, they are both here in the castle tonight. If they have any misgivings about the matter, tell them they are being summoned at my personal behest.”
The Captain gave a stiff nod in Edmund’s direction, before turning his head and letting loose a sharp whistle from between his teeth. The sound was still echoing against the stone walls when two more guards appeared. Without a word, they each slung one of the wounded soldier’s arms over their shoulders and guided him towards the exit. The Captain followed suit, stopping briefly to give some hushed instructions to another guard nearest to the door before he disappeared up the stairs.
With their direct superior gone, Edmund felt the eyes of the remaining guards immediately fall on him. As much as he wanted to let his chest drop back and slump his shoulders to regain a little comfort, he knew he must keep standing with his back rigid and his head held high. In his heart, he may have been nothing more than Edmund, a man in much deeper and much more frightened than he cared to admit. In the eyes of everyone else, however, he was still the King and would be expected to handle the current situation as such.
Sighing, he turned to the guard standing watch by the leftmost cell and cleared his throat to get the young man’s attention. The guard jumped slightly at the noise, as though Edmund had just woken him from a half sleep. It seemed an odd place to try and nap, by Edmund’s standards, but he supposed one could sleep anywhere once you were used to it.
“Your majesty?”
The guard’s voice betrayed his age, and it was all Edmund could do to keep his eyebrows from shooting up towards his hairline. If he managed to get through this without ending up in the infirmary or worse, then he’d have to have a word with the Captain about the youthfulness of his recruits.
“The keys around your belt, young sir. Give them to me, if you please.”
Despite his few years, the guard knew well enough how to take orders. Without protest, he unclipped the ring of keys from his belt loop and handed them to Edmund. They were heavier than Edmund expected, and somehow the weight of the metal in his palm was strangely reassuring.
Squaring his shoulders, he turned once more to face the rightmost cell. There hadn’t been a sound from you this entire time, and Edmund wasn’t certain if this meant you were subdued or simply lying in wait to ambush the next person stupid enough to try and approach. He only hoped that, no matter what happened, he’d be able to greet the dawn with all his extremities still attached.
Tumblr media
You hated this country. You hated its people, it’s stinking cobblestone streets covered in horseshit, its passionless music and the bland, disgusting mush it tried to pass off as food. Most of all, you hated its idiot King and the stupid way he was looking at you.
You’d made it clear, or so you thought, that the next Narnian fool who came near you did so at the risk of his own well-being. And yet, here sat the King, no more than a foot or so away from you, hunched over on a simple wood stool and studying you like you were some sort of oddity in a menagerie. You glared back, wanting nothing more than to wrench free of your bindings and claw at his eyes so the last thing he’d ever see was the rage on your face. But those thrice damned guards had tied you up so tight you scarce had room to breathe. Not only was this a country of fools, but cowards as well, it seemed.
“I’m going to take this gag off your mouth now, and then we’re going to have a little chat, you and I.”
His words were a command, but the way he said it implied a question, as though you would give him an answer even if you could. It was all you could do not to roll your eyes. Even those with absolute power were spineless here, issuing their commands as though they required permission for them to be followed. If such a man tried to rule in Telmar, they’d be knocked on their arse and trampled by someone more capable who’d take their place in the blink of an eye.
When the King reached to remove the gag, your eyes immediately locked on his hands. You watched them with a frevored sort of intensity, preparing to use all the agility dipping into pockets and running cup and ball scams had taught you in your years on the street. As soon as you felt the knot around the back of your head loosen, you struck.
Your teeth closed around the flesh of the King’s wrist, and you clamped down hard on his forearm so he could not wrench free without causing further damage. You were rewarded with a yelp, a loud clear sound that reminded you of a pup being kicked. The taste of blood, thick and coppery, filled your mouth but you held fast despite your stomach twisting in disgust. It was only when the King brought his fist down sharply on the crown of your head and made white stars dance across your vision that you finally released him.
He staggered backwards, clutching your gag to his wounded arm and staring at you with wide eyes that betrayed a different sort of wound inside him. You wanted to laugh, but the bile in your mouth turned any sort of noise into a half choked gurgle. Clearing your throat, you turned your head to the side and spat onto the stone floor. The King’s blood turned the grey flagstone a pretty shade of pink.
“You vicious little bitch”
Surprise, fresh and delightful, tingled down your spine. Now that was unexpected. When you betrayed the King’s trust, at the least you figured he’d draw back and sulk like the Narnian dog he was. Instead, he was paying you back with the same coin, striking at you with his words as you had struck him just now. Perhaps there was more lion in him than you thought.
“Why would you do that?”
The commanding tone he’d lacked earlier had finally appeared. Despite the fact that he was dishevelled, bleeding and standing as far away from you as he could in these cramped quarters, this young man was actually starting to resemble someone you could recognize as a King. The fact that you’d managed to goad him into such a state so quickly pleased you immensely, and you couldn’t help but grin widely back at him.
“Because I hate you” you replied, almost cheerfully.
“Yeah, I gathered as much” he shot back, royal courtesy completely forgotten “But I’m only trying to help.”
“Well, I didn’t ask for it, and you’re a stranger who’s touching me without my say while I’m in a vulnerable position. Anyone else would have done the same.”
What the King said next made your shit eating grin falter slightly in place. Narnians had always confused you, but it seemed this one was playing a different game entirely.
“You’re…you’re right. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that without your consent. Are you feeling alright? How’s your head? I’m sorry I struck you.”
You stared at him as though he had sprouted wings and a tail. You were the one who had bitten him, hard enough that he was bleeding through the strip of fabric he was clutching to his arm. He must be hurting terribly, and yet he was asking after your welfare, and apologizing no less.
“I’m…fine.” you said, flatly, keeping your eyes trained away from his face “I’ve…you didn’t hit me that hard.”
“The fact that I hit you at all is unforgivable. May I have a closer look? If you’re injured, you really should be seen to by someone.”
You nodded, forcing your expression into a stern mask so as not to betray your confusion. This sort of treatment was completely alien to you, in your world kindness was for those who didn't have to worry about having crusts of bread snatched from their open mouths. It was a luxury only afforded to royalty and their ilk, like spices and fresh fruit.
When the King came to approach you again, he did so with slow, measured steps. At first, you thought it was because he was trying to avoid jostling his arm around. But, as you watched his lithe frame move through the ring of golden light from the torch he’d brought in earlier, realization hit.
He was frightened. Of you.
Immediately, your heart shot into your throat and your stomach dropped into the bowels of the Earth. You swallowed, hard, and turned your face away, pretending as though you were fascinated by the flickering shadows on the far wall. They danced like living things, their movements smooth and natural, and a part of you wished you could somehow join them.
You wanted nothing more than to slip your bonds and melt away into the shadows, but it was the stone in your gut you wished to escape, not the chains about your wrists. On the Talmoren streets, feelings were another luxury that you had little use for. Guilt was as new to you as kindness, and right away you misliked the acrid taste it brought into your mouth. In your twenty five years on the Talmoren streets, you’d stolen, lied, and cheated all in the name of survival. Those sins weighed no more on your heart than a raindrop would on the ocean. You’d done far worse to better men, and yet this Narnian wretch who you’d known for maybe an hour or more had your mind twisting itself in knots. Why?
The sound of the stool scraping against the stone floor drew you from your thoughts. You watched as the King righted his stool from the floor, and set it down across from you, though closer than it had been. He sat upon it with a deep sigh, and began to wrap his wounded arm with the linen gag.
The closeness allowed you a better look at the injury, which had already started to mottle purple and red with bruises around the edge. It made for a stark contrast against the King’s creamy, pale skin. An angry red flower on a field of snow.
You’d seen many similar hurts in your lifetime, some which you’d caused while others had been inflicted on you. Almost always, they resulted in a scar, the phantom outline of teeth remaining long after the open sores had closed up.
“You’ll need an apothecary for that, and a potion of honey and turmeric.” you blurted suddenly.
The King looked up at you, not even bothering to hide his startled expression. Something about the way his brown eyes widened and his lips formed a sort of rosebud shape was oddly endearing.
“Turmeric? I’m afraid I’m not familiar.”
You fought the urge to roll your eyes. This was a country of idiots, after all.
“It’s a root, from a plant. Usually it’s sold in a powder, but fresh is best. Turmeric draws any illness from a wound, while the honey helps it stick and will keep your skin from scarring. I have a sachet of it in my bag, provided your guards haven’t taken it for themselves.”
The King nodded in response. If your jab at his guards upset him, he didn’t show it.
“Thank you. That’s very kind. I’ll make sure we retrieve that for you, and I may want to have you speak with Lucy about this herb and it’s uses. I’m sure she’ll find the information very helpful in treating that young man you attacked.”
“Who is Lucy?”
“One of my sisters, the younger one actually. I have two, you’d know them as the Queens. There’s also Susan, she’s older than both of us.”
You turned this information over in your mind, silently comparing it with the little Narnian history you knew. Prior to now, the only King here you’d known about was the one they called Peter. His face was familiar to you, simply because it was stamped on one side of the copper coins you’d stolen from drunken sailors in the dockside taverns. Nobody in Telmar had ever spoken about any other Narnian royalty, though a healthy hatred of Peter was as common as dirt.
“So…who does that make you?”
The young King seemed to find this funny, letting out a wry chuckle before he finished tying the knot in the bandage around his arm. He did so quite skilfully, you noticed, and you wondered how much practice he’d had patching up himself or his men on the battlefield. Most of the Telmarine emperors could not boast of such skills. Matters of the body and healing it were considered beneath them, and tasks of those nature were left exclusively to apothecaries and sorcerers. Perhaps less soldiers would die fighting if their leaders took the time to help them.
“I’m Edmund,” the King said, his voice oddly gentle “What’s your name?”
You told him, and he repeated it a couple times, as though he was trying to taste the sound of it on his tongue.
“It’s very pretty,” he said, finally “Now that we’ve been properly introduced, will you allow me to have a closer look at your face?”
You nodded, knowing that if you opened your mouth you’d most likely say something vicious again. Of course he could have a look, it wasn’t as though you had a lot of choice in the matter being tied down as you were.
Edmund’s fingers were soft, softer than the hands of any man you’d ever known, though you could feel some callouses on spots where his sword hilt would chafe the skin. He probed your face cautiously, going across your cheeks and over the bridge of your nose with the practiced touch of someone who had done this many times before. For the most part, his expression remained neutral as he focused on the task at hand, but you did notice his eyes narrow slightly when he came across your split bottom lip.
If he had asked about it, you would’ve quickly implicated the guard you’d bit. Though he’d had a boyish and seemingly innocent face, he’d struck you hard enough to knock your teeth together when you’d spewed a string of curses at him during your arrest. The ones directed at his mother seemed to sting in particular, but he’d quickly lost his bravado after you’d torn his ear off when he tried to slap a pair of irons on you. It had taken three other grown men to subdue you, which was hardly a fair fight even if you’d fought like a hellion. Your chest still ached terribly from where they’d pinned you down by sitting on you, and you knew you’d sport a fresh crop of bruises in the morning
Eventually, Edmund moved his hands from your face and pushed them into the curls at your temples. He went slowly, not wanting to miss even the slightest bump or cut. After a short moment or two, he’d worked his way up to the crown of your head where he’d struck you earlier on. As his fingers brushed over a sore spot, you winced in spite of yourself, which made Edmund draw back as though he’d been burnt.
“I’m sorry. You’re certainly going to have a fair sized bump there tomorrow. It shouldn’t be too serious, but I’d like to have Lucy take a look anyway, just to be safe. I shouldn’t have struck you so hard.”
You shrugged, the chains about your arms clanking as you did.
“I bit you. I suppose we could call that even.”
Edmund smiled and something long dormant in your chest fluttered. You cast your gaze downwards, hoping against hope that he wouldn’t notice the burning in your cheeks. That was when your eyes alighted on something peeking out from the edge of Edmund’s collar.
“What is it?”
He may not have caught onto your blush, but he certainly didn’t miss where your eyes had gone. You really shouldn’t have been as surprised by this as you were. Narnians were known for their skills with swords, and the ability to be observant would have been part of that training.
“You have a…there’s something on your chest.”
Edmund blinked at you in surprise, and glanced down at himself.
“Oh. My mark. Here, let me show you.”
You watched with interest as his fingers opened the line of buttons down the front of his shirt. Each one revealed another inch of clean, white skin dusted with freckles and a healthy amount of fine, brown hair. You squirmed slightly in your seat, your cheeks feeling like an inferno.
At first, you’d thought what you’d spotted was a tattoo. Only now, that you could see it in full, unobstructed view and highlighted by the nearby torch did you realize you were wrong.
What decorated Edmund’s chest was by no means a tattoo. Rather than the black or brown ink you were used to seeing, the image was outlined in a shimmering gold. Though you had never took a needle to your own skin, you had a feeling even the most skilled of artists would not have been able to recreate such a rich colour. The way it sat on Edmund’s flesh was as natural as his freckles, as though he’d been born with it.
“And the purpose of this?”
Your voice echoed around the dungeon, which had somehow grown silent save for the sound of Edmund’s breathing and the faint crackle of the torches. From the look on Edmund’s face, you had a feeling you’d asked something incredibly unusual, which only served to confuse you further. Was this a Narnian custom? The longer you looked at the mark, the more it bothered you. There was something about it that tugged at your memory, like an itch you couldn’t quite reach.
“It’s my soul mark,” Edmund said slowly, as he began to button up his shirt again “Everyone has one. Even the centaurs and ogres and merfolk. You get one when you turn eighteen. Eventually, you’re meant to meet someone who has a mark identical to yours and that person is your soulmate.”
You shivered slightly, suddenly feeling as though a bucket of ice water had been dumped over your head. This wasn’t a story you knew, but it felt as though you had heard if before anyway, like the echoes of a dream after you’d just woken up.
Your birthday had never been a celebration back home, not truly, but you’d been luckier than most to know the actual day upon which it fell. Usually the most you’d ever done when it came around was vow to live long enough to see your next one, though around seven years ago, something very unexpected had happened.
“I…Edmund…I think I have-”
The sound of his name on your perfect, full lips made Edmund feel lightheaded. There was a slight accent to your Narnian, which caused your voice to lilt in a way that was almost melodic. He was so entranced that he nearly missed what you were saying.
“You have a mark?” Like mine?”
You nodded, solemnly and bit your lip before speaking.
“It just…appeared one day. Around my eighteenth birthday, like you said. No one else in Telmar had one and I could never figure out what made me so different. When nothing else came of it, I forgot about the whole thing.”
So the guards had been telling the truth. Edmund brought a hand up to his forehead and massaged the crease that had appeared between his brows. He’d long since become accustomed to the idea that he’d be alone for the rest of his days. To have that changed so suddenly, especially by someone as complicated and unpredictable as you, he didn’t know what to make of it.
“May I see it?”
Some part of his mind still thought that maybe, this could be a trick. He’d open your shirt and find that the guards had talked you into letting them draw a donkey or something even more obscene on your skin for a bit of coin. But if that was the case, why had you attacked them? It seemed like an awful lot of trouble for a bit of sport.
“If you’d like.”
Now, it was Edmund’s turn to blush. You’d given your consent, and yet he couldn’t help but feel a little bit perverse as he reached to undo the top button of your collar. When you didn’t flinch away or try to bite him again, he continued, his hands shaking all the while. Your skin was warm beneath his touch, and softer than anything Edmund ever felt. Each opened button revealed another inch of smooth, bronze tinged flesh, along with a cream coloured shift and the tops of a pair of fair sized breasts.
The sight of those almost had Edmund running back upstairs to the safety of his room, when his eyes alighted on the tell tale golden lines just below your collarbone. Taking a deep breath to steel himself, he reached out and gently tugged down the edge of your shift to get a closer look. He silently prayed that none of the guards took this moment to walk in, especially not the captain. He’d have a hell of a time finding a good reason to explain why he was practically peering down your shirt. It suddenly dawned on him why you may have given that young guard such a hard time, and any sympathy he’d had for the lad was pushed away by disgust.
“Aslan’s teeth.” he breathed
Sure enough, there it was. A lion, standing on its hind legs, mouth open in a snarl and a pair of crossed swords over its head. A perfect twin to Edmund’s, in size, colour, and location.
“Batshit and buggery,” he said again, parroting a favourite phrase of Peter’s.
You blinked at Edmund, trying to understand where this was coming from. He was staring at you as though every secret of the known universe had been writ there on your skin, and perhaps for him, it was.
“So, what does this mean?” you asked, hating how stupid you sounded.
“It means,” Edmund said, rising to his feet and reaching to tug at the knots that bound the ropes around your body “You and I are going to have a lot to talk about.”

Life from a New Perspective
Tumblr media
Pairing: Edmund Pevensie x Fem!reader
Characters: Peter Pevensie, Susan Pevensie, Edmund Pevensie, Lucy Pevensie, Fem!reader, Reepicheep, Oreius
Warnings: Fluff, fighting, Narnia in another battle, this came out of nowhere, I don't know where this was really going but I went with it, stupid backstory for the storyline to make sense, Edmund needed to meet his match, this is oddly cute, I thought this was going to be cringey but I proved myself wrong lol, the title is 100% based on P!ATD song
Word Count: 784
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You stop, breathing hard with the prickling sensation of the people chasing you are getting closer. You spin around and see a familiar-
You furrow your brows, fighting stance barely weakening. "Reepicheep?
The brave mouse lowers his sword and calls out your name. "I thought you died?"
"When has anything ever taken me down?"
He nods, "I knew I chose you for a reason."
"You did no such thing."
"Uh- sorry but you two know each other?" You turn to the dark-haired man.
Your eye twitches. "Royalty?"
"He is the second king of old."
"The young man?"
"I prefer to be called by my name."
You close your eyes, not wanting to shout at someone with royal status. "What's your name?"
He furrows his brows, confused about how much yet so little you know about him. "You don't know?"
"I prefer not going into town."
He raises a brow, “that’s not concerning to hear.”
“People don’t like me.”
“I wonder why," he mumbles, not meaning for you to hear.
You scoff, “until next time, Reepicheep.” You jump over a log and tale off.
“Now, look what you’ve done,” says the mouse.
“Me? If anything, it was you.”
“I did nothing to run her off. I’m the reason she stayed but then you opened your big mouth.”
Edmund rolls his eyes, “whatever, let’s go.”
They take off, meeting with his siblings and a few of their warriors.
-
“What are we going to do now?” Susan asks.
“We can go to the river and see who will be willing to fight from there?” Peter offers, not entirely sure where else they can go to find more Narnians.
“We would have had a good swordsman had you not talked,” Reepicheep grumbles.
“What’d you say?” Lucy turns to him.
“His majesty ran off our only hope.”
“What’s he talking about?” Peter turns to Edmund and then the mouse. “What are you talking about?”
“The sarcastic decided to open his mouth and run off my apprentice.”
“Apprentice?” Lucy chimes in. “When did you have an apprentice?”
“Well-”
A group of bandits come up from behind the trees.
“Where did your apprentice go?” Peter shouts, kicking the bandit back.
“How am I supposed to-”
You jump the tree branch you were perched on and swing across the way, kicking the one sneaking up behind Edmund.
“There she is.”
You duck just in time, giving the mouse a bridge to climb and attack. “Looks like we meet again,” you nod to the third eldest Pevensie.
“Looks like we do.”
“Let’s see if you fight as good as you talk,” the corner of your lips twitch.
“Believe me, I’m good with a sword.”
“Care to make a wager?”
“Like?”
“If we make it out of here alive, we spar together?”
“You’ll lose.”
You shrug, “I’ve always wanted to be defeated by a king,” you wink and run to help Lucy.
“Look who’s decided to come out of the woodworks,” Oreius says.
“Guess who’s still in the woods,” you respond.
“You’re still not funny.”
“I disagree. I’m hilarious.”
“I think Edmund’s found his match,” Lucy whispers to his siblings.
“Were they flirting while we were fighting?” Peter asks, still baffled about it.
“They were,” Susan pats his arm. “Is everyone alright?”
“Well, if everyone’s fine. I’ll be off now,” you try to sneak away when your favorite mouse stops you.
“Hold on there.” He stands upon a rock. “You’re not leaving so fast. I haven’t seen you since that idiot got thrown out of town.”
“What?”
“Yeah, after you left, we found him stealing from everyone and threw him out.”
“No one believed me.”
“I did, that’s why he's gone.”
You smirk, “I knew there was a reason we met.”
That certainly quiets him down. “I believe there is someone else for you to meet.”
“I don’t like what you’re implying.”
He shrugs, giving the young king enough time to walk up to you. “You fought well.”
You slowly turn, “I didn’t need to save you nearly as times as I thought.”
“I didn’t need saving.”
“That’s what you say but who was the one to take down the bandit sneaking up behind you.”
“I had it handled.”
A smile dances across your lips, “I know. I just wanted to mess with you.”
He stares at the ground, trying to ignore the heat in his cheeks. “I- that was uncalled for.”
“Someone’s got to keep you on your toes.” You skip over to the other siblings and introduce yourself, throwing them off; on one hand, you can be deadly and fight and on the other, you can be as sweet as can be.
It intrigued Edmund a little too much for his comfort.

wardrobe malfunctions
lady saves the day
pairing/s: edmund pevensie x princesss!reader
warnings: nothing
genre: fluff (idk rlly), strangers-to-friends
word count: 1.3k
a/n: i had an idea for this and literally i don’t even know what i wrote lmao. i had a vision but the vision was not seen afterwards. the kingdom mentioned in this fic is also like extra fictional so it doesn’t exist in narnia and is from my own head. i hope u still enjoy. once again, requests and questions are open 🫶
Tumblr media
She could feel her hand itching. Itching to reach his shoulders and turn him around just to fix his up-turned collar and the bit of fabric that had managed to tuck itself in to his trousers.
The only problem being —
She hasn’t introduced herself yet.
High Kings and Queens of Narnia were way too busy entertaining a huge crowd around them, and based from her own experiences — she doesn’t want to involve herself just yet. So she waited.
But after seeing King Edmund’s wardrobe malfunctions, she was more than frustrated.
She doesn’t even know why she cared so much. Surely the king is able to do it himself. Maybe it was because of the annoying voice of her mum at the back of her head that constantly told her to fix the sleeves of her dress growing up. Or the idea that maybe someone will have noticed it themselves and decided to humiliate the king instead of helping — Aslan knows why people choose to do that rather than be the martyr.
So she stood at the corner — much to her parent’s dismay — and waited.
Tumblr media
It came at last. Everyone decided to start dancing around the ball and she took her chance.
Her mother had introduced her to a kind gentleman, who she took the opportunity with to bring to the dance circle. “Just to let you be aware, I’m not looking for anything,” she said, pointedly looking at the man whose hand was on her waist. He chuckles, “Glad we are on the same page, my lady, for I have someone in particular very close to my heart,” he spoke, his tone full of adoration. She smiled, patting him on the shoulder as they both continued dancing. “I wish you all the best of luck. I am sure she is one beautiful lady.”
Tumblr media
Three songs later and she finally made it closer to the king. Who — even after all those twists and turns — still wasn’t able to fix himself. She could only sigh at this point. They had switched partners a long time ago. Now she was with a lovely faun — Mr. Tumnus, he had introduced himself — and he had her smiling throughout their dance together. He was a lovely and kind faun indeed, no wonder the young Queen Lucy was so fond of him.
“I’ll see you around my lady, have fun with the king.”
And just like that, he spun her out of his arms and in to the arms of the one and only King Edmund the Just.
“Hello, your majesty”
She couldn’t help but not ignore how his eyes had widened briefly. “Hi”.
The timid answer from him had her smiling in pity. She almost felt bad for what she was going to do after. “Turn around,” she ordered under her breath. Edmund furrowed his brows in confusion, ducking his head down. “What?”
“I said turn around”.
It was probably from the way she had to grit her teeth to avoid shouting, but Edmund confusingly obliged.
Still moving their feet around, she began her mission.
Edmund suddenly felt fabric being pulled off his neck and other from his waist. Somehow, he felt more comfortable than before. The lady before him must have noticed, for she only smiled kindly when she turned him around. “You’re welcome,” she said, before doing a curtsy and leaving him behind on the dance floor.
It was when he only noticed the music had stopped and everyone else had too, catching their breaths. He brought his hand up to his collar — only to realise at why she had done the action so. Edmund looked around the room to look for her, but she was nowhere to be found. He mentally cursed himself for not introducing himself beforehand and catching her name.
Tumblr media
Edmund made his way to where his siblings were stood, who were already looking at him incredulously. “What’s the matter this time?” Lucy asked. Edmund sighed heavily, a hand coming up to his face to wipe around his mouth. He looked back at his siblings, more so at Susan, the action not going unnoticed by the older girl. “Do you have something to say Ed?”
“Just… don’t get angry at me,” he reasoned out.
Susan only raised one eyebrow. Edmund took this as his signal, taking a big breath in before he spoke. “During the dance, I got to be partnered up with this girl…”
"I don't understand your problem?"
"Well... I thought she was a bit overbearing at first, telling me to turn around, but I followed and she sort of... fixed my collar and tail for me," he finished sheepishly, pursing his lips upon seeing Susan's almost horrified expression. "Didn't I tell you to fix yourself bef—"
"I did, Su! I promise, I did."
"It didn't sound like it. Did you thank her, at least?"
His silence was an enough answer for Susan. The older girl rolled her eyes, trying her best to keep her demeanor calm as they were after all, still at the party. Peter and Lucy, the ever so supportive siblings they were, only stood quiet — their chuckles making Edmund grit his teeth, refraining himself from uttering a single word to them. "What was she wearing? So we can thank her," Susan asked, her eyes searching around the ballroom.
Edmund dug through his brain for an answer.
"White, sort of, almost cream dress."
"That's helpful."
He rolled his eyes at the sarcastic remark.
"And, I don't know? Gold detailing—"
"Gold!?"
Lucy's outburst had caught Edmund's attention. What was so important about one dress that had gold in it?
"Why? What's with that ma—"
"Edmund..." Lucy scrunched her face in sympathy. Edmund had never been so confused in his whole life. He looked at Peter for an answer, although he wish he hadn't, for the smirk that had grown on his brother's face made him want to punch it off. "You may or may not have humiliated yourself in front of the Princess of Luvaria."
“Wha— what do you mean?”
“Did you already forget? The princess is literally known for the gold she puts on her dresses.”
Edmund pouts. "I did not humiliate myself," he argued.
"Your face says other wise, Ed."
Tumblr media
The next morning, Edmund woke up frantic. The events of the night before frizzling his mind, he almost didn’t fall asleep.
Her name’s Y/N. Princess Y/N rather. From Luvaria. From all places, she had to be the Princess of Luvaria.
He was too caught up in his thoughts that he hadn’t registered the voice talking to him.
“You’re majesty, are you alright?”
He blinked once. Twice. And suddenly, it was the Princess of Luvaria’s eyes on his. “Yes— yes! I’m alright, it’s just the early morning— you know and oh! Bloody hell where are my manners, good morning, you’re majesty,” he stumbled, body falling down in to a curtsy. The young lady in front of him only giggled, grabbing his shoulders to stand him up right again. “None of that, your majesty. It’s Y/N to you. Although, I should be the one showing my respect, it is your kingdom after all,” she commented, gracefully bowing into a curtsy herself.
Edmund took the short moment to observe her. She was royalty, all right. With all her gracefulness and elegance, she lives up for the status of Luvaria. She looked more casual this time around, an everyday dress hugging her figure compared to the extravagant white and gold gown she had the night before.
“None of that either… Y/N,” the princess smiled warmly at the use of her name, “Edmund will do just fine. Have you had any breakfast yet?”
The question had her shaking her head as a no. Edmund smiled, offering his elbow for her, “Should we go together, then?”. Y/n accepted, placing her hand on the crook before the two walked together to the dining hall. “I must say Edmund, you look quite out together this morning,” she said. Edmund had to fight the urge to choke on air, desperately and silently trying to clear his throat. He was failing however as the princess beside was smirking. “Thank you — by the way — for last night,” he spoke, glancing down at her face.
“I hope you didn’t get into to much trouble.”
“Not really, mainly just Susan’s.”
Tumblr media
thanks for reaching the end!!! hope u enjoyed, constructive criticism is highly appreciated and welcomed. xoxo

summary: eustace doesn't believe that edmund has a girlfriend.
wc: 800
pairings: edmund pevensie x fem!reader
warnings: VERY unedited. also it's 1am and i just wrote this in a burst of inspiration, so please don't expect it to be good.
a/n: i don't really know if this will make sense to anyone lol, i think i wrote it in a confusing way, but hopefully it's okay. it's mostly eustace's pov, i wanted to try something new. also, this exact scenario has been in my head for months now.
Tumblr media
“There’s no way he has a girlfriend,” Eustace tells Lucy, barging into the room. She immediately knows who he’s talking about, able to hear Edmund on the phone downstairs, voice softer than it usually is, taking the tone he automatically opts for when he speaks to Y/N.
“Why?” Lucy asks, half-heartedly entertaining her annoying cousin while she thumbs through the pages of her book. Unfortunately for her, Eustace Scrubb brightens at the attention, straightening up and launching into a rather well-thought out spiel.
“First of all, it’s Edmund we’re talking about. He’s awkward, way too hostile and bad-tempered. Not to mention, he’s barely of average height, and his hair? Absolutely ridiculous.”
“Y/N likes it,” Lucy says mildly, earning a scoff from Eustace.
“Y/N.” he says with disbelieving scorn, “As if she actually exists. You expect me to believe that a woman as beautiful and intelligent as you lot claim she is would actually be interested in Edmund? And so interested that she calls and writes to him multiple times a week? Yeah, right. I bet that Ed’s hired an escort to help him forget about how lonely he actually is. Or he’s paying some poor girl to play the part of a caring partner.” Eustace has had many such theories, the more creative ones dealing with blackmail and holding family members hostage, but so far, monetary imbursements seem to be the most likely.
“Sure, Eustace,” Lucy mumbles, having checked out of the conversation a while ago. He shakes his head at her disinterest, convinced that he is right, and leaves the room, muttering to himself disbelievingly.
Tumblr media
A few days later, a painting gushes out water and swallows them whole, so poor Eustace, although having taunted his cousins with his skepticisms about the magical land of Narnia and called them fools for believing in the same, is forced to confront that he was wrong.
Eustace is soaking wet and miserable, still slightly panic infused. He can’t believe his eyes, convinced that he hallucinated the last fifteen minutes. Sitting on the ship, the Dawn Treader, he watches as his cousins are recognised as King and Queen. He’s related to royalty.
With a humorous snort, he realises that this is more believable than Edmund Pevensie having a girlfriend.
Hell, even the talking rat next to him is more believable.
He goes to voice the same, but is distracted by a joyous whoop descending from the sky, followed by a splash in the ocean. Eustace is too busy trying to catch a glimpse of the figure underwater to notice the hopeful glances Edmund and Lucy exchange, the faint tremour in Edmund’s hands as he snatches a telescope from a passing crew member, getting a clearer view.
“It is her!” Ed cries, only barely held back from jumping overboard by Caspian, who laughs fondly at the Just King. Eustace tries to hear what the Prince tells Edmund, but all noise turns to mush the second he sees the young woman surface, a brilliant smile on her face.
At first glance, he thinks it’s a siren. He’s heard stories about their enchanting beauty and ethereal forms, and Eustace does genuinely believe that this woman is too gorgeous to be human like he is. As she swims closer, though, and the ship's crew help pull her onto the ship, Eustace notices the lack of a tail. And though her hair is soaked and strewn across her face, and her clothes suction themselves to her skin, none of it takes away from her radiance.
It also doesn’t distract him from the fact that she’s walking right towards him.
Eustace’s mouth goes bone dry, and he gulps nervously, afraid she’ll talk to him and afraid she won’t, when suddenly, Edmund swoops past him and towards the woman. He snatches her up in a passionate embrace, hands securing her to him as he twirls her around in sheer delight.
When they kiss, chaste but heady, Eustace decides that he has never actually known anything about anything.
He’s scouring the sky for flying pigs when he hears Edmund’s self-satisfied voice behind him, “And this, my very real girlfriend, Y/N, would be my cousin, Eustace Scrubb.”
“How do you do?” Eustace says weakly, extending a hand, trying his hardest not to faint when you take it.
“Pretty well. If only Edmund would- what was it again?- stop holding my family hostage, I think I’d be great,” you rib amiably, throwing back one of Eustace’s earliest theories back into his now scarlet face.
“No, darling, you’ve got it wrong, I’ve currently got your dogs kidnapped and ready to be shipped to the pound, remember?” Edmund joins in on the fun, his smile widening as he earns a couple of chuckles from you, and a darker flush from Eustace’s cheeks.
Eustace Scrubb, though unwilling, is forced to admit, after watching the two of you interact, gravitating towards each other naturally, at ease with the love that surrounds you, his cousin’s eyes brighter than he’s ever seen them, that it is very believable for Edmund Pevensie to be dating Y/N L/N after all.

Excuses
Pairing: Anthony Bridgerton x fem! reader
Summary: Maybe all of his visits aren't exactly to see your brother
Word count: 1.9k
Warnings: unedited, fluff, mentions of unrequited love (or is it) and I think that's all
Masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“The feelings that hurt most, the emotions that sting most, are those that are absurd – The longing for impossible things, precisely because they are impossible; nostalgia for what never was; the desire for what could have been; regret over not being someone else; dissatisfaction with the world’s existence. All these half-tones of the soul’s consciousness create in us a painful landscape, an eternal sunset of what we are.”
You once read that in a book, and could not help but relate to it.
The worst feeling you could ever feel is that, the one of unrequited love. The feeling of loving somebody and knowing that somebody does not feel the same for you.
It is ridiculous, that feeling that you get when you see him, when he takes a moment out of his day to even talk to you and ask you how you have been, leaving you happy that he even talked to you when you know he only did it out of courtesy. But you still lived for those moments.
Birds chirped, the sun hitting your face and the wind breezed your skin while you read one of your favorite romance books, the pages held carefully between your fingers.
You were immersed in the pages, paying zero attention to anything but the love story in front of you.
Pride and Prejudice.
Ever since you were little, you wished to live a love story of your own. You wished for the kind of love Mr. Darcy had for Elizabeth. One where a man loved you so deeply he would do anything for you. One where you were the only woman he could ever think about. It was all you could dream of.
But that was all it was, a dream.
Men in the society were nothing like the ones you read in books. They were arrogant, selfish, pompous bastards who cared nothing but to have a beautiful lady on their arm that made them look good.
You wanted someone kind, who didn’t care whether you were beautiful or not, that loved his family fiercely and protected his loved ones with everything he has, so they would not be hurt.
Someone who was affectionate and paid attention to the things you loved. Who took time out of his day to talk to you and ask you how was your day, and that he was interested in what you had to say.
And the only one you could think of that fit those requirements was your brother’s best friend. But even then, you doubted he had an interest in you.
You were Simon Basset’s younger sister, the Duke of Hastings. Or well, you were his half sister as his father remarried again once Simon was 9 years old in hopes of having a son who was not an ‘idiot’ as Simon’s father used to say but what a shock when instead of the son he desired so turned out to be the exact opposite and that was when he lost hope.
Simon, oh sweet Simon. He was the best brother you could ever ask for, of course he was very overprotective of you and would chase suitors who he thought did not deserve you away, which meant every single one, but you did not know what you would do without him
Even with you being his half sister, he cared very deeply for you and did not hate you for what his father did to him.
“You are still reading that?”
You snapped your head up coming face to face with the viscount. You held back a smile and slightly bowed your head feeling yourself starting to become giddy at his presence.
“Viscount Bridgerton” You greeted before looking back at your book, trying to appear uninterested “Not at all, I have finished it weeks ago but there is no harm in reading it again, is there?”
“Not at all” He shook his head “ but surely you do not enjoy reading the same thing over and over again, do you? I, for one, do not enjoy reading about silly things about love in silly books” you look at him in disbelief
“They are not silly, I think everything I read in these books are incredibly beautiful, and yes, I do enjoy reading these things” you responded “Why did you even decide to come outside to judge the books I read? My brother is inside in his study, go and bother him instead”
He let out a laugh “ Now why would I do that when you are here just waiting for me to bless you with my presence” you glare at him making him laugh once again “okay, I already fulfilled my purpose, now I will leave, I will see you later, princess” he winked at you before starting to walk back to your home
You make sure he is inside the house before you smile widely, shaking your head remembering the encounter.
You could not even count on both of your hands the number of times Anthony has been on your home the past few weeks. It would seem as if he was also living here from the how much he frequents here. Even if Simon was not present, he would still appear to keep you company for a few hours, chaperoned of course. If you did not know better, you would have assumed he appeared constantly at the Hastings House just to see you but of course, you did know better.
But you cannot even complain, you certainly did not mind seeing him around your home. You did not mind one bit.
Tumblr media
It had not even been 2 days before the viscount appeared once more in your home. You were not surprised to say the least.
“Back once more?” You said when you saw him walk through the door, walking down the stairs. He turned towards you and smiled “It seems as if this is your home from how frequent you are seen here now a days”
He laughs “Oh come on, it is not as if you do not enjoy my presence around you” he teases
“Quite the opposite, my lord, I consider you a nuisance” You responded amused, holding back your smile “Like a fly constantly buzzing around my ear, very much annoying” you stopped in front of him
“Well ouch” he exclaimed hurt but you knew better, you could see the laughter dancing around in his eyes, you swatted him on the arm playfully.
“My brother is not here, I assumed he would have told you he had some business to attend to in Clyvedown and would not be back until 3 days from now” You informed him after
“Oh really? I was not informed of that” He feigned confusion “Well, now that I am here, I am sure you would not mind me making you company for a few hours, you know, so it does not go to waste the trip I made here” he added once he saw the face you made
You thought for a few moments before you responded “Well alright, I suppose there is no harm in that”
“Wonderful, shall we go to promenade?” Anthony offered
“Now?” You questioned “But I am not even dressed to go promenade and even if there are people in the park, as soon as they see us together they will think we are courting”
“You look beautiful regardless, it does not matter hoe you are dressed” He compliments “Come on, let’s just go, no one will even be in the park”
You just laugh before gesturing at him to go on, shaking your head at his silliness.
Tumblr media
“No one will be here, you said” You tease as you walked along the trail
“Well….” He trailed off “I lied. I knew there would be people here, it is a sunday, after all, everyone comes to the park on sundays” he looked away from you
You furrowed your eyebrows confused. Why on earth would he want people to see the two of you together? Does he not know the rumors the ton will create about the two of you? And they would mostly affect him as he is the one that does not want the ton to think he has plans of marrying any time soon. But maybe you should not worry much, you are his best friend’s sister after all, you hope they will only think he is keeping you company as your brother is out of town. On the other hand, if the ton thinks you are courting, your suitors might cease.
“Why would you lie?” you asked “I mean, I have no problem of being seen together, but people might get the wrong idea and any suitors I have might back off. And I plan on marrying this season, at the latest next season if I do not find anyone I even remotely like” you pursued your lips at the thought of not marrying because of a misunderstanding.
Of course, it is not like anything will happen if you do not marry or get engaged soon. But what you meant is that if gentlemen think Anthony is courting you, they will not approach you, or well they will since men always go after a lady when they think someone of importance is courting them, but you do not want a man to pursue you because someone of high social standing is interested in you and they want to see what is it that strung him in, but because they like you for who you are.
You do want your fairytale love story after all, or at least marry for love.
“Maybe I want them to get the wrong idea” Anthony mused, you snapped your head towards him quickly
“Do you want me to become a spinster?” you looked at him incredulously “because I will if no 0one wants to court me in the next 2 seasons”
He laughs at your comment “No, not at all” he shook his head “ what I meant is that, maybe, I want your suitors to back off so… so that I can pursue you better, without anyone trying to come between us” you stare at him shocked, stopping in your tracks
He stops along with you, laughing at your expression. “Are you going to say anything?”
“ I just – what – I do not know – what about Simon?” you stutter, your mind still trying to comprehend what you just heard
“What about him?” Anthony shrugs nonchalantly
“Will be not be mad if you start courting me? I am his little sister, and he is very protective over me” you noted worriedly
“He is the last person who can be mad at me courting his little sister when he himself is courting mine” he answers and you nod, looking around as you noted some stares that were upon you both “So?”
“So, what?” you looked at him curiously
“You never answered to what I said” your face twisted in confusion at his words “ Will you let me court you?” He looked back at you nervously. Ah right. That.
You hummed in realization “Alright” you nodded “Just know I am very hard to please” you teased
“Good thing I have much experience in how to please a woman” He joked and you shot him a glare making his playful expression disappear when you turned your head away from him “ Right. Sorry. If I am going to court you, no speaking about how much I pleased other women” you shot him another glare making him wince
You huff, taking your hand out of his arm and walking away “Hey! Y/n, I am sorry, I am not going to speak anymore” he called out from behind you “Wait for me, will you? I am sorry, just do not be mad or annoyed at me” You let a smile come onto your face at his pleading.
This will be fun.

Note
I read your Edmund shot where he proposed to her and I was thinking about the part where he threatened us. What if we asked him if he had laid with a woman before and that dictated our answer. Like if he had laid with a woman before we would choose death but if he hadn’t then sure.
Alternative ending
Yandere!king x fem reader
Summary: you don't accept the kings propsal
Warnings: death, guns, blood, talking about sleeping with women, blood, massacre, threat, obsession
THE FULL ORIGINAL ONESHOT
Spinoff
“Marry me, my lady”, he says. “I don’t want to live another day without you. Be mine. Please. I’ve gotten rid of all the competition. I will never look at anyone else besides you. I got rid of them all.”
You can’t find any words. Your brain has stopped working completely. Not a single sound leaves your mouth when you open it.
“If you don’t say ‘I do’, you will be shot”, the king says warningly, dark eyes looking directly at hers. “If I can’t have you, no one can. It’s you and I or no one.”
“Y-Your majesty”, you sob. “Please … please don’t …”
“Say it.”
“I-I … I can’t …”
“Y/N, tell me you’ll be my queen, tell me that you’ll stay with me forever … or end up like all the others.” He caresses your wet cheek and you flinch away from his hands. They may not have physical blood on them, but you know that they’re covered. “Don’t be a stupid girl now, darling. You know you don’t want to die. Accept the ring. Accept my love.”
You give the pile of bodies a gaze. That is not how you want to end up. But the king has gone insane … you can’t accept that either. You know what they say around the kingdom. He sleeps with any lady he's come across. You'd rather die than marry that kind of man.
“Y/N …”, the king says. “I’m losing patience.”
"I-I don't want to marry a ladies man …"
He's taken back by your sudden requirement.
"What do you mean?" he asks.
"E-Everyone says that you've slept with a load of women … h-have you?"
The king gulps and shakes his head. It wouldn't matter if he lied, right? The women he's been to bed with is in the pile, and you'll never have to worry about them. Ever.
But you can see right through it.
"You're lying …"
"But, darling, they don't mean anything!" He gestures towards the messy dance floor. "They're all lying there! You're the only one I want!"
"I don't want to marry you then …"
He goes white with realization. "Y-You're really going to choose death?"
You nod as tears run down your cheeks. The king shakes his head. He can't.
"Please kill me …", you whisper.
"Don't be stupid."
You turn to the guards and hold up your hands, surrendering.
"Don't!" the king exclaims.
He runs over to one of the guards and grabs his weapon. With burning eyes, he walks back to you.
"If anyone's going to do it, it's going to be me", he says, now sounding determined but his hands are shaking. "One last chance to change your mind."
You shake your head. The king nods, gulping.
“I’m sorry, my love”, he says.
He seems to have trouble firing off. His finger rests over the trigger and for a second, you think that he’s going to have mercy on you, but then he fires off. He breathes out shakily and watches how your body falls to the floor. What has he done?
“Y-Y/N …”
He bends down and holds your dead body in his arms as he sobs. Why couldn’t you just have accepted him? He would have kept you safe and never let anything bad happen to you! His past doesn’t matter!
The king makes sure that you get the most beautiful funeral anyone in the kingdom has ever gotten. He visits your grave everyday to tell you what he’s done and what’s going on in his life. He promises you never to marry anyone else than you. He’s going to die alone, die by your side.
