Document Management System for Clinical Trials

In the realm of medical research, the efficiency and accuracy of managing documents are paramount to the success of clinical trials. Document Management Systems (DMS) have emerged as indispensable tools, streamlining the complex process of organizing, storing, and retrieving critical information integral to clinical trials. These systems are designed to address the unique challenges faced in the healthcare industry, ensuring compliance, security, and accessibility of essential trial documents.
Clinical trials entail a labyrinth of paperwork, from protocol outlines and informed consent forms to patient records and regulatory submissions. The sheer volume of documentation demands meticulous organization and stringent oversight. A robust clinical trial document management system acts as a centralized hub, consolidating diverse documents while maintaining version control, facilitating collaboration, and ensuring adherence to stringent regulatory standards such as Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
Evolving Technologies and Future Trends
The evolution of DMS in clinical trials continues to be fueled by technological advancements. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms are increasingly integrated into DMS, offering predictive analytics to forecast potential risks or bottlenecks in document management. These technologies automate document classification, extraction, and analysis, enhancing efficiency and decision-making processes.
Moreover, the emergence of blockchain technology holds promise for enhancing the security and immutability of clinical trial data. Blockchain-based DMS can provide an incorruptible ledger, ensuring tamper-proof documentation and transparent audit trails, thus bolstering trust among stakeholders.
Addressing Data Privacy and Security
With the growing concern over data breaches and cyber threats, ensuring robust data privacy and security measures within document management system for clinical trials is imperative. Encryption protocols, multi-factor authentication, and role-based access control are essential features to safeguard sensitive patient information and maintain compliance with data protection regulations like HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation).
Adoption Challenges and Strategies
While the benefits of DMS in clinical trials are evident, adoption challenges persist. Resistance to digital transformation, budget constraints, and concerns regarding data security often impede widespread implementation. To overcome these hurdles, comprehensive change management strategies coupled with user-centric designs are essential. Engaging stakeholders early in the selection and implementation phases, along with tailored training programs, can promote a smoother transition and maximize user acceptance.
Regulatory Compliance and Standardization
Regulatory bodies continue to refine and update guidelines concerning document management in clinical trials. DMS providers must stay abreast of these evolving regulations to ensure their systems remain compliant. Standardization efforts, such as the adoption of industry-wide metadata standards and interoperability frameworks, facilitate seamless data exchange and collaboration among different stakeholders and systems.
One of the pivotal features of a DMS tailored for clinical trials is its capability to support the entire lifecycle of documents. From the initial drafting of protocols to the final submission of reports, these systems track and manage each document's progression. Version control mechanisms within the DMS prevent errors resulting from outdated or conflicting information, ensuring that all stakeholders access the most current data.
Moreover, compliance with regulatory bodies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA) is non-negotiable in clinical research. Document Management Systems equipped with audit trails and security protocols ensure traceability and data integrity, aligning with stringent compliance requirements. This fosters transparency and accountability while safeguarding against unauthorized access or alterations to sensitive trial information.
Efficiency in document retrieval is another crucial aspect of a DMS. Researchers, clinicians, and regulatory authorities often require swift access to specific documents. Advanced search functionalities and categorization systems implemented in these systems expedite the retrieval process, saving valuable time and enhancing productivity.
The collaborative nature of clinical trials necessitates seamless communication and sharing of documents among multiple stakeholders dispersed across different geographical locations. Cloud-based DMS platforms offer real-time accessibility, enabling simultaneous access and collaboration while maintaining data security. This facilitates interdisciplinary teamwork, allowing researchers, clinicians, and sponsors to contribute and review documents efficiently.
Furthermore, the integration of electronic signatures and workflows within DMS platforms streamlines the approval processes for various documents. Electronic signatures, compliant with regulatory standards, expedite approvals, reducing the reliance on cumbersome paper-based workflows and minimizing the risk of errors or delays.
Despite the myriad advantages offered by Document Management Systems, challenges persist. Implementation and adoption of these systems require robust training programs to familiarize users with the platform's functionalities. Resistance to change, especially in traditionally paper-based environments, may hinder the seamless integration and utilization of DMS.
In Summation
The future of clinical trials hinges significantly on the efficacy and sophistication of Document Management Systems. These systems transcend mere document storage; they are pivotal in driving efficiency, transparency, and collaboration across the clinical trial lifecycle. The continuous integration of innovative technologies, stringent adherence to regulatory standards, and concerted efforts to address adoption challenges will further propel the evolution and widespread adoption of advanced edocs document management systems in revolutionizing the landscape of clinical research. Ultimately, this progression will pave the way for more expedited, reliable, and patient-centric healthcare advancements.
In conclusion, Document Management Systems tailored for clinical trials play an instrumental role in revolutionizing the documentation landscape within the healthcare and research sectors. These systems alleviate the burdens associated with document organization, compliance, and accessibility, thereby fostering efficient, secure, and compliant management of essential trial documents.Â
Embracing innovative DMS technologies is pivotal in advancing the trajectory of clinical research, promoting transparency, collaboration, and ultimately, better patient outcomes. Y'all I wrote a very important scene for TMITDE and NOW I CAN'T FIND IT.
Yes I have multiple writing locations but I'm usually pretty good about keeping them straight and I can't figure out where it is and I'm deeply upset about it.
No it's not for the next chapter or even one relatively close but STILL.

Oh I almost forgot it's Sunday.... And the start of a new month... and it's been 6 months since Jan... I'll do the whole 6month check in later this week... Welps a small one for now!
Because work and other stuff, progress has slowed a bit. MelS is on the last investigation part. And I should be starting the first round of edits next week. Time willing, we maaaaayyyy be looking at a end of July/start of August release???? MelS free time is super limited unfortunately. He tried to add words when he can....
Not a template... BUT AN ACTUAL SUGARCUBE GUIDE!
Making its premiere debut, 85% complete... the Twine SugarCube Guide, covering from the basics of the basics to start out with the format, to ALL the macros, some customisation, and more advanced stuff.
Get your guide today!!!!
Did you know I've been pretty much working on it only for the past... three weeks or so?
My final entry for the Neo Twiny Jam: Clarence Street 14. Completed in 3hs (and I had dinner in between). It's pretty ugly, and the story is not much brighter...
I wasn't thinking much when I wrote it. It came pretty much by itself while I was struggling to create a 500-only parser for the jam (next year!).
An Eggcelent Preparation ranked 6th at the Text-Adventure Literacy Jam. While it is in the bottom-half of the ranking, I received an overall of 3.510/5 (or 7/10 ~with 17 votes), which is crazy high for a ranked jam! Lots of really good entry indeed!! Very tough competition, with mainly experienced creators!
And for a first proper parser try, I'm pretty happy with myself. I received 2 glowing reviews as well! This is a proper win, right there!
I'm going to do a post-mortem to wrap up this project, sometimes this month....
NOTE: the game page of the English version might disappear, in preference to the French/OG one (which I need to update). I will notify it here as well, but just in case, here's a head's up!
A few hours left for latecomers to submit to the Neo Twiny Jam..
And then I will be wrapping it all up :)
In the meantime, all entries have been played ! and reviewed on @manonamora-if-reviews (it might be in the queue if not posted). I've been so busy this week...
~~~~
Some random stuff:
I need to update my website at one point, I haven't since may, and EDOC doesn't have a page yet (neither are the other jams mentioned....)
I may or may not have sent an intent to participate in the IntroComp to test out an idea that has been floating in my brain for a while. Whether it happens is another story.
You can submit an intent to the Intro Comp (I won't this year, really can't).
Anti-Romance Jam is ending in less than 2 weeks!!!! Get your submissions in!!
A bit less than 2 months to submit to the Orifice Jam as well!
Another non-ranked SFW jam will be popping up soon-ish.
Also another thing this week will be dropping (in relation to jams)
I think that's IT!
~toodles~
Idea: the epsilon copies of the Reds and Blues from season 7 end up in the bodies of real Reds and Blues, but none of the right ones! ESarge in Grif, EGrif in Simmons, ESimmons in Tucker, EDoc in Sarge, ECaboose in Kaikaina, ELopez in Caboose, EDonut in Washington, and ETucker in Carolina, leaving Church, Locus, Tex, Donut, Doc, and Lopez to fix things. Especially ETucker in Carolina (listen I'm too into tgtf stuff and the people in this shoe, women especially, are too hot for my pansexual self)
Hmm... I had this one concept of an alternate scenario for Restoration; instead of doing a ret-con, it takes place after the group has gotten done with time-travel shenanigans, and have been spending some time apart. Uh-oh! Plot stuff is happening! To bring everybody back together, Epsilon left behind a little gift for them, but after that big final battle, it took a while for the energy required to charge back up. The original concept was for this being the various Epsilon memories of the Fragments seeking out the Reds/Blues/Doc/Wash/Carolina so they can all solve the new problem together... but hey, it would also be pretty funny if the "fragments" Epsilon sent out were actually E-Simulation memories! On the one hand, the above idea of things being a little mis-matched works really great, but it would also be amusing if they each met their "slightly different" counterparts (and there are several variations of them, considering Epsilon just kept making iterations over and over)
If you don't mind me asking, can I ask your top favorite fics that you've written (feel free how much that you want to list)? Why they're special to you? Is there a specific inspiration when you wrote them?
Oh this is such a fun question, no one's ever asked me this before! Okay ummm... in no particular order because these are special to me in different ways ー
A Fangirl's Dream (still in-progress, I'm just slow TAT)
Ivy has it rough. She's no anime fan or FMA fan. But when she somehow crosses the gate, she finds herself in the worst possible position: a protagonist of an Another World fic trope. And between the alchemy, automail, lack of plot knowledge, and struggling with her attraction to a pretty blonde mechanic, Ivy reluctantly teams up with the main characters in her journey to get home.
This is a fic years in the making and I'm not talking about how the little hiatus it is in. This was a fic I started working on in about middle school as a pair of sister stories that I deleted on an old FFN account. It was going to be some sister stories about two friends that end up in FMA at different times before their stories coincided with one another and they crossed paths in their separate adventures in Amestris.
One friend was an established fan of FMA and the other wasn't an anime fan at all. AFD covers the journey of the friend who isn't a fan of anime in general, having only watched a handful (NANA, Naruto, DBZ). FMA, is not one of them.
In middle school these fics were going to be EdOC for AFD and for Swept Away (SwAy) it was going to be LingOC because at the time, those were the characters I was most obsessed with.
A handful of years back I decided 'you know what, I'm going to rewrite AFD and SwAy and finish them no matter how long it freaking takes!!!!' And in the process, new ships evolved and different journeys for the OCs, Ivy (AFD) and Akasha (SwAy) were developed. Ivy and Winry had such good chemistry, imo, that I decided to shift the story to be about them whereas I had more of a darker descent planned for Akasha who couldn't distinguish that while these were characters she knew and loved, they are real living people in front of that won't act according to the scripts she's crafted in fanfiction's passed.
I'm hoping to get back to writing some chapters for this soon so I can finish AFD and finally starting working on SwAy and make past me proud to have finished them.
The Different Rules of Summer
‘Okay so you think ghosts are fake but totally think that bigfoot and mothman are real?’ Lance scribbled furiously on the piece of paper in total disbelief. ‘Ghosts are total BS, man’ Keith look disinterested. ‘This is why you’re single' Lance didn’t expect that his summer vacation would be spent at a library arguing with his deaf co-worker about why cryptids totally aren’t real. Keith volunteers at a library to keep himself out of trouble while his brother works. The worst part of his day? Explaining to some moron why Mothman is definitely a real entity and why the first moon landing was fake. Funny enough, this is the highlight of both of their summers.
This was such a fever dream of a time to write but in the best way possible. VLD was still ongoing and thing going on in my mind was that I wanted to write a multi-chaptered fic and finish it. So I decided to make a personal challenge for myself that I was going to write a fic with 40 chapters for 40 days.
1 chapter everyday, it didn't matter how long each chapter was as long as I wrote one.
Beginning, middle, end. And I did it. Some days I was cutting it close and it felt like a chore to push the chapter out but I did it. I wrote 40 chapters in 40 days, 1 chapter a day and I'm really proud of myself for doing that. I honestly lwk recommend other people try out this sort of challenge themselves if they're ever up to it and have the time!
So I drafted up 40 chapters to write in the draft, some dumb but memorable titles for said chapters and got to writing and wow did this story unexpected blow up? I was not expecting this story to become as popular as it did but it was so fun to write and talk to the people reading it. Especially the Deafies who found the fic and thought I was accurately portraying Keith's experience as being Deaf.
It's not perfect, there's a lot of mistakes and clumsy writing but I fucking did that and no one can take this away from me.
Man is the Breast, Heaven is the Playground + A Blazing Star Sought Refuge in my Chest
(csm manga spoilers ahead)
You might be the only one in your division not utterly smitten with your partner, Makima. Call it disinterest, call it being observant that her smiles never reach her eyes. Either way, you have no interest in bridging the gap between you both. But one day, an attempt is made, and it isn’t by you. + Your contract was simpleー the Control Devil would not use her powers on you, you just needed to stay with her forever.
My beloved Makima duology that someone on twt deadass tried stealing and passing off as theirs. That shit aside though, wow did I love writing these.
At the time, I was really frustrated by the state of the Makima x Reader tag. Because it was usually just Dom Makima smut. Which, there's nothing wrong with that but because what I wanted to read was something that explored the depth of Makima's character, the goals that motivated her terrible actions in the manga and the loneliness that wracked her sense of self..... I decided that I wanted to read that story, I would have to write it myself.
So I did. And because people loved HBHP so much, I felt inspired to write a sequel that included Nayuta.
A lot of love and care when into writing these stories and it makes me happy when I still see people reading them if they find them in the tag. I didn't expect to like writing for Makima as much as I did, I honestly want to write more concerning her if I'm being honest. I do have a WIP on that right now, it's just taking forever to get my vision just right...
The Summer Moon Was Born to be Loved pt 1 + The Summer Moon Was Born to be Loved pt 2
You got pregnant and the ghost of university days past finds out five years later.
Months in the making as there was a lengthy hiatus between both chapters but this was something I had a lot of fun writing. I wanted to write my own spin on a trope I've seen established and simply wanted to write it well. I had been talking with a friend of mine about it and we discussed how we thought the events would go with different characters from Mitsuya and Hanma from TokRev to Nanami and Gojou from JJK. I thought as far JJK went, Gojou had the potential for most mess and decided to write a story involving him.
And in that, I ended up including a lot of one of my favorite things in the world: the ocean. Utilizing oceanography terminology to showcase the emotional states of the characters, the events happening between chapters, I had a lot of fun doing that.
And I think that I had a pretty clear and concise ending as well. So yes, another personal favorite for sure!
Lost Girl (in progress)
Believing your father’s concerns as the last black family living in the secluded mountains of Wall Maria to be simple paranoia, a you naively set out on YOUR own to discover the world and what it truly holds. Yet after encountering another family secluded in the mountains, the Ackermans, you realize that maybe his concerns weren’t so unfounded in the terrifying yet beautiful reality you live in. Befriending their daughter, a fellow survivor in what it means to be the last of their kind, you find your path leading to the horrors of the Fall of Maria and the 103rd Cadet Corps.
Not my most popular series but one I'm updating slowly nonetheless.
This story has had multiple incarnations. UtSD ver 1 was an OC fic before I turned it into a reader-insert. But version 3 came as LG, another reader-insert but one I think is more polished.
My inspiration for making this was simple. I wanted more Mikasa fic content out there and I wanted to read a fanfiction story where the OC/reader in question were black like me. It's something that's permeated through my brain since high school back when we knew little of where SNK was heading as a story.
What would it be like if you were living in the Walls and black? How would your treatment fair, the beliefs bloomed about you and your kind? Especially if you're decidedly the last of your kind within the Walls. And the comfort that may possibly come from having some sort of like you except not quite.
I don't care if people who aren't black also read this story and partake in the adventure. All I care about is writing something everyone can enjoy, especially if they're someone like me or if they want to read something different.
I hope to one day see more unapologetically POC OC and reader-inserts scattered about the tags alongside ethnically ambiguous ones. I personally usually write ethnically ambiguous characters so everyone can enjoy my fics by not specifying hair texture, saying that your cheeks warmed instead of blushing and things like that. But sometimes, I wanna write something that's really just for me.
Se réjouir, se réjouir
The sun; Neuvillette is the sun. And Furina? She’s not fit to even be the moon. There is a surprising loneliness to freedom.
Wrote this some days after after the 4.2 patch update and finishing the Fontaine AQ. This was a ship I fell quite head over heels with and I had a lot of thoughts in my head about them that I decided to get out of my head by writing something up for them.
I talked about the dynamics that I liked between Neuvillette and Furina already and all the coinciding NeuviFuri material Mihoyoverse was shilling out with their commissions wasn't helping my brainrot either.
For something I pretty much shot out not too long after the update when live, I think I did a pretty damn good job. I had fun with the dynamics and trying to dig into the brain of the characters.
A Little Pain (still in progress even more slowly than AFD)
At the age of 7, there were a few things Hinata Hyuga was sure of. One, her father, Hiashi Hyuga, was the strongest shinobi she knew. Second, just the thought of her having to one day make decisions for her entire clan terrified her beyond belief. Third, her younger sister Hanabi, at the age of 2, was very easy to impress. Hinata Hyuga never wanted to lead her Clan and when she is stripped of her title and essentially an outcast in her home, she finds solace in the brief comforts of a pink-haired girl named Sakura. Though little did Hinata know that losing her heiress title would send her life spiraling down a path of self discovery, bravery, and the realization that changing yourself is a possibility is the most powerful jutsu of all. But... perhaps stopping yourself from fainting whenever you happen to be around your crush is a start. And convincing the entirety of Konoha that it's first all-kunoichi team won't be a complete and total failure should be prioritized before any of that.
Another one of my 'I started this in high school' stories that has been through a rewrite and I'm trying to finish little by little. SakuHina is one of my favorite Naruto ships, has been for years and as someone who has been reading over a decade of Naruto fanfic tropes, I've seen my fair share of 'what if A was on Team 7' fics.
(Here's a post I have on that lmao from my old blog before it got accidentally axed)
So I decided to write my own version of that but the new team in question is Konoha's very first all-kunoichi team. Also, Hinata has a crush on Sakura this time around instead of Naruto. And boy do I have a lot planned for this story, I'm excited every time I get back to my google docs and get to typing little by little.
WIP Wednesday
It's been a while since I posted one of these, but I haven't stopped writing :D
New AU time! Dude Ranch AU :D And of course, sangcheng
Jiang Cheng’s divorce was finalized. He stared at the papers. That was it. Everything was over. A deep sense of relief and loneliness washed over him. Eight years of his life, and it all ended with a swipe of a pen. Not even – the signatures were all electronic. He hadn’t even seen his now ex in five months, and that was probably for the best. He stared at his phone, at the edoc, before glancing around the office. No one was paying any attention to him, and why would they. They had no idea that a massive chapter of his life had just ended with a proverbial door slamming in his face. Rug pulled out from under him. Whatever the metaphor, the bottom of his stomach had dropped out, and he found it difficult to breathe. He grabbed his suit jacket from the back of his chair, pocketed his phone, and walked right out of the office and down the sidewalk to the nearest park. The nearest bench was in the sun, and Jiang Cheng sat down and loosened his tie. At this time of day, it was mostly young mothers pushing strollers with sleeping babies. There was also an occasional tourist, sticking out like a sore thumb. He watched them, feeling numb except for the warmth of the sun after spending his day in the air conditioning. It was an odd feeling, the detachment he felt. He needed a change. He needed to get out of the city and ride. He wanted open spaces and the smell of mud, not the city in summer on a garbage pickup day. The last time he had felt like this, he had run away to a dude ranch in the middle of nowhere, and while he had regretted it at first, at the end of the summer, he had no regrets at all, just that it ended, as all summers do. He hadn’t thought about Nie Huaisang in years.
Yeah! Seconding coding bullshit being important. My appointment for a replacement implant is free. Its preventative care and costs 0 ZERO moneys. My doctors office changed how they coded things. I called the doctors office first, they said they were working on resubmitting due to the code change. Okay.
Get an updated EOB that shows I still owe moneh. Mmhm.
So I fill out the appeal form, my insurance has a edoc you can use which is nice. And I very concisely stated what the appointment was for (preventative care) and how that is covered by my plan.
Within I think a week? It had been reviewed and processed with the reviewing doctor saying it did meet the requirements of preventative but the code is usually used for non preventative care.
Fucking doctors office coders
Not to be confused with the 9 month fucking PROCESS of my insurance saying they didnt cover vaccines because the goddamn doctors office (different one) put a code in so wrong nobody could tell me why insurance wasnt covering. Finally had a lady tell me, while also saying she shouldn't be, that that was the reason for denial. Had to call the office themselves and have them change the code and resubmit.
CODES, THEY MATTER A WHOLE LOT
Retrospective 2024 (4)
Last one!
As teased in the infographic, My resolution this year stays unchanged from last year's:
Get things off my desk and shelf it for good.
I want to continue completing and fixing older projects, so I can shelf it for good (like I did Goncharov Escapes! this year, and DOL-OS). But, since I added a bunch of title on my itch page, there are a few more to the pile compared to last year that needs fixing (or finishing) - at least DOL-OS is done :D The goal: Harcourt (MelS want to finish it, but it's still him dependent), The Roads not Taken (I dropped the ball on that one at the end of last year), An Eggcellent Preparation (samesies), and Exquisite Cadaver or P-Rix - Space Trucker.
I won't even try to promise I won't make new games (large or tiny), because last year made it obvious there is no stopping me. I planned last year to participate in a few comps... and ended up doing two dozens. So... At least, I won't participate in the big comps (IFComp/SpringThing) because the ideas I have for them need at least another year to make it happen... I do want to try to make it to one parser-focused comp again (either TALJ or ParserComp) and try out Moiki or DonjonFI. I'm only 7-9 games away to have 1 title/year alive...
Below the cut has more detailed expectations for some titles. Like last year, no real timeline on what will be done when - this year has shown me that life likes to throw stones at schedules... Announcements will also be whenever, because I make things on a whim :P I will try to have a better announcement schedule for updates however.
Oh! one more resolution: continue to do word crimes ~ obviously!
The trials and Tribulations of Edward Harcourt
While I've been working on the final edits of Chapter 5, MelS promised to be hard at work on Chapter 6 this following semester, which is the final chapter. From mid-January onward, he should have a clearer schedule IRL to set himself some time to write.
We hope to be done with the edits and coding of Ch6 this year.
When Ch6 is cleared, we will do one final sweep at the earlier chapters to ensure the writing style is consistent, rebalance variables and puzzles, as well as making it compatible with as many screens as possible (especially for maps). Solutions for puzzles (mazes and such) will get a special log on itch too.
La Petite Mort
The game is "technically" complete already, but I spotted a few typos here and there that could be taken out, one theme is eh... really not as pretty as I had wanted it (the "PJ theme"), and I've been wondering if I could add a few more rooms or interactions (with the animals especially).
I'm aiming for a March-April update. Though it should have been done last November already...
The Roads not Taken
I've mentioned my plan for this project the past few months (before I got distracted with other projects), which is to fix the parser mechanic (to follow a bit more the conventions and fix the frictions of the game), include the missing content from the SpringThing version (Codex and Endings), and potentially have a hypertext version (links to click) for accessibility.
I would like to be done with this before summer at the latest - by March at the earliest.
Entre-d'oeufs coquilles - An Eggscellent Preparation
A bug or two needs fixing in this game (the AEP version) - how the box is used/eggs are handled -> for the ending - as well as a bunch of typos (a small re-write may be needed).
As AEP is the most recent version, with more content, I will need to translate the updated/fixed version back to French (EdOC).
I would also like to include more pixel art for each "room". I do not know yet I would manage that, but we will see!
I think there isn't much to fix that an update before the summer could be doable.
Exquisite Cadaver
That ball-n-chain project that's been dragged around for the past year, poor game... At least, I've given up on a French version.
The same amount of rounds is missing from the playable version (21), with no real progress made last year. All rounds are at least drafted in some fashion, though not all the endings are.
A sane planning for this would be to do an update every 3-4 rounds until the game is complete. I will try to achieve this.
If I could reach the half-way mark by the summer and complete the game by the end of the year, this would be great!
P-Rix - Space Trucker
This game can't stay in this current state! I have a rough draft of the mechanic and enough bits of writing to make a coherent update with some touch-up. I know how to end the game (the "good" ending), with even an option for further "storylines" after that first delivery is complete. I even have the "stops" on planets or ships all clear in my head (RNG babyyy).
I will probably focus on this project in the second half of 2024.
Crimson Rose & White Lily
With the hiatus getting closer to a two-year one... an update is long overdue. I may break an update in multiple ones:
fixing the main story code
adding Scene 5 (needs to be written properly)
adding Scene 2 variation
fixing the Codex
including Bonus content (may be a separate "game")
I would like to have the first point done in the first half of the year, and the second... well in the second half. If the Muse is in my corner it might happen sooner, but she hasn't been here all last year, so who knows at this point...
I miss writing Razac y'all...
SugarCube Templates
Even if I've done all the "coding" templates I had wanted to do for a while, I have a handful more visual templates in my drafts (different shapes!).
Having tried all "main" Twine formats, I've been itching at making templates for Harlowe and Chapbook. Either doing a Harlowe/Chapbook version of the template already done, or just making completely new one.
Expect some to be added to itch (when I get bored/frustrated with my projects).
Other projects
If there is time/energy left in me, I would like to take a crack at:
Finishing The Dinner, with all the remaining courses and the planned final choice. Also styling it in Harlowe properly.
Finishing the OG planned story for In the Blink of an Eye, which was supposed to last "a week" in the story (instead of 2 days) and have more consequences/endings.
Finishing The Rye in the Dark City, which is missing 2 acts: the interrogation of the different peeps and the "closing" the case. A bit of re-write in the first act might be needed.
Finishing Don't Press the Button (not really IF). I want to make it work in both keyboard and mouse... If I can manage it, then it's just a matter of moving the element around the page, changing colour, and randomise whether to click or not. JavaScript/jQuery is required however ;-;
Fixing The Thick Table Tavern: first the bar (group bottles, add new ones + new recipes), then the Arcade Mode (there's a bug I've been meaning to fix for one mode + add difficulty), then the Story Mode (essentially do a re-haul + add more storylets + the main client(s) of the run).
Remastering SPS Iron Hammer - a.k.a. re-writing it, adding the whole escape mechanic, re-coding the whole thing...
I don't think I would be able to do ALL of this - with the amount of time/effort some of these projects would required, it would probably be impossible by myself. And I should probably focus on CRWL instead if I have time/effort left 😂
Other... other
I'm going to continue organising small comps and jams this year, both with @seedcomp-if (which will run all year now - 8 months of Planting, 3 months of Sprouting, 1 month of voting), and @neointeractives (8-10 jams/year).
I will probably participate in a handful of the jams I've either organised, or small program-focused jams (like with ink/bitsy), but avoid the "big" ones this year (even if the SpringThing was fun!). There are also a handful of other jams I've had my eyes on, so we will see if I can manage... Expect more short silliness on this side.
A thing I will continue doing will be playing IF games still. I have 15 games left in the IFComp (with one being an absolute beast) and want to take a crack at old comp entries (IFComp, SpringThing, and the others), especially the French ones. Reviewing takes a while, but it's a good practice to think about the positives and negative of games - and take these lessons for my own projects. Expect more at @manonamora-if-reviews (or on the IFDB).
Aaaaannnnd that's it!
That's more than enough to keep me entertained for this year. ... which may potentially be the last one in a while where I will have any free time. I am certain of one thing for next year (2025): there will be a lot of change happening IRL, which will for sure mean less time to do any fun thing (not just making IF). Probably long periods of time where I will be completely offline too. This year might be the last where I have a consistent presence online. I really want to make the most of it!
