I'm working on an information doc for a dnd campaign I've been playing that will have my character's backstory and relevant npcs, plus some character research and my campaign notes and a spot to just ramble :) I am very happy because I have been losing my mind over this character
OHHH oh this is so cool!!! :D i love making those kinds of things tbh... just a doc full of research and notes. that's the good shit.

I've never seen this minor glitch before. Have I just never noticed it, or did it only happen in eggstra work, never to be seen again? I can't handle the way the junk stuck to the mudmouth's body levitates in the air while it's explosively dying. And yes, in another round I also got the other glitch that's probably more common, where if you hold R to get your bomb ready before the mudmouth finishes spawning, then he's intangible and your first bomb will just fly through him. I guess that'll tend to happen when you always know where the mudmouth will pop up first.
So yeah, last weekend's eggstra work. This is a call-out post for Indy Frex and Maxveemo, who have leftover specials. >:( My high score could've been closer to the top 5% if they'd actually used those in wave 5. It's not like they were dead for the whole last wave, or anything like that! I wish upon them unceasing waves of fireflies.

I had one player who used the dynamo roller, not doing anything during the first wave then disconnect into the second wave
if you’re gonna do this shit in freelance, DON’T bother playing this month’s eggstra work!!!

That was beautiful.
Grand Festival was peak. ABSOLUTE PEAK! 🗣️🔥🔥🔥
As someone who was on Team Future, I would celebrate any team regardless who one. Seeing Team Past winning got me emotional (in a good way)... it's almost like the results were paying homage to Splatoon 1, and the Squid Sisters, to where it all started. The star in the sky. The Calamari Inkantation to this series that I grew up with ever since Splatoon's debut in the E3 2015 trailer.
I'll forever follow and cherish this series... 9 years and forever more. 🥹💕
Tumblr media
In terms of the Splatfest results, our team getting zero points feels poetic. I see the number "zero" as the start of everything, the number of nothing, the number that can become something, the infinite, the endless — it resembles the future in a way. Endless, infinite! It's a mentality I need to practice more, to be honest: Zero can be mean many things, but it can also mean the beginning of things; 'nothing' will eventually become 'something'. I've never been more excited to be on a losing team and I'm saying that with my heart on my sleeve.
All of the results for each team feel poetic to me!
Tumblr media
But seriously... thank you Splatoon 3! Content updates may have ended, but they did say they'll have special splatfests/past big run/eggstra reruns until then.
All in all, what an absolute blast I had these past few days during Grandfest. The performances, the atmosphere, the new music?? And seeing everyone else posting about their own experiences, it genuinely felt like an event we all went to in-person, we all got to experience that as a community. 🥹
Tumblr media
Man, I love Splatoon.

Congratulations to Team Past for winning the Grand Festival!
Tumblr media
It'll be an occasion to remember!
Already feeling nostalgic? Using any Squid Sisters, Off the Hook, or Deep Cut amiibo you can now revisit the Grand Festival venue.
Tumblr media
While there, you can change the time of day, as well as skip ahead to the next live performance.
Now for some sad news, though I think that for a lot of people the writing was on the wall already:
Tumblr media
Grand Festival marks the end of Splatoon 3's content updates. We'll get occasional balance updates, and the seasonal Special Splatfests will return, as will Big Run, Eggstra Work, and Challenges. I have a lot of thoughts about this and what it means for the blog, but I'll save them for later in the day when I've got a bit more time.
Splatoon's future is unknown for now, so let's dwell on the past for a bit, with a look back on all of Splatoon 3's Splatfests.
Splatoon 3 may be "over", but we've definitively not seen the last of the squidkids yet. Here's to many more years of Splatoon and all the memories we've yet to make!

If/when there are enough King Salmonids, there should be a special Eggstra Work event that's a Boss Rush. Instead of collecting Golden Eggs, you would instead have to deal a certain amount of damage to the King (like 30% for wave 1), and dealing damage beyond that threshold/having extra time on the timer is what's used to raise the Hazard Level, like getting 1.5x and 2x quota in the normal Eggstra Work.

The traditional Big Run arguement has come back as they kept the 135 top 5% high score. I think this topic has lingered long enough and discussed it with my other SR oomfs for me to get an opinion on it. My sentiment is still pretty much the same as last time.
That Big Run event is supposed to be a competitive mode. That most people only think that they should be rewarded because that SR is supposed to be the “easy” mode. Like I don’t think half of the people complaining about it even play normal SR often.
Like the top players for every challenge that comes out get special rewards pics from SplatoonNA and SplatoonJP and hell, EGGSTRA WORK, I don’t see people complaining about those rewards when the actual top players get the reward.
Every time I see the arguement against a mystery high score, it’s always “you just don’t want casuals to have fun”, it’s not a casual event??? Like I get Nintendo adding a set high score, because the high scores were getting a little crazy with a dwindling playerbase, I won’t lie, but this is not a casual event. Not everyone can get top 5%, ITS TOP 5% for a REASON.
The only thing that I can understand people struggling with is freelance, as the lower rank you are, you get muddied in with the same group who doesn’t play SR. Maybe try finding some friends like from Discord servers or something if you really want to have better teams & communication. But even then, with a good team in freelance you can easily get the high score (me and my other casual SR oomfs have done that multiple times!).
Sorry I’m just tired of people misunderstanding this event and downplaying SR as a mode

Splatoon salmon run endless mode ideas
It has been a big want since the mode came out in 2. So I’ve gathered some.
Availability
Profreshional and up. It would give you a message
Grizzco: you’re a great employee. How about you try something bigger? I will give you access to endless mode, to see how long you can survive and how many eggs you can collect.
Unlike Eggstra work, it should be available weekly. But just like EW with a different map for each rotation.
General stuff
The weapons will be pre chosen. But with 2 Grizzco weapons.
[still unsure about the king salmonoids]
It is truly endless. The only way to know if it is too much. Is to check if the FPS are dropping on your switch.
Known occurrences are random. You can in fact get 2 glowflies and then a griller at the start.
Your specials are replenished every 5 waves. Due to how it gets more difficult.
Grizzco messages
3 waves and below
“x waves, that’s a shame. Better luck next time”
4-10 waves
“That’s quite decent, but you can do better”
11-30 waves
“That’s good. Most employees come this far so dont worry about the qouta”
31-99 waves
“That’s a nice wrap. And look at all those eggs”
100 waves and up
“This is an amazing feat for Grizzco! Consider yourself employee of the week”

I am genuinely surprised that alongside the all-random weapons rotations (including Big Run) and the Eggstra Work ‘pick your weapon from these four’… we haven’t had a “Bring Your Own Weapon” mode in Salmon Run as an event.
It would be chaotic as hell, obviously, and severely imbalanced, but I think that would have been an obvious direction to take the special modes.

hohoho yes :3c i think this is the last one i'll do for now asdfjk;l if people want to send more in that is Cool but i'll do them later
(something something this is the "send me a number from 1-40 and i'll tell u something about my vampire blorbo salvatore")
37. Noise
Ooooh okay so this one is more headcanon heavy than the others!!! But one thing I imagine is that, with how much more powerful vampires' senses are than humans', Salvatore is easily overwhelmed by loud noises. This is made worse by his forced isolation--he's spent years and years with no interaction and very limited noise, and now he's even more sensitive to sound than before.
With time, I imagine this might even out and he'll be able to handle large noises to some degree, but for the most part it's still very much something that increased exposure to will absolutely be a bad time. Salvatore is overstimulated easily, and as a result he tends to avoid situations that result in a ton of stimuli being thrown at him at once (especially crowds).

As a reminder, Eggstra work is now Live
Gather with friends and try to collect as many eggs as you can
There are some special rules for this mode:
You will always have the same weapon for each wave. Pick your main weapon class to maximize your efficiency
Hazard Level Always start at 60%. If you collect more eggs than the Quota, the Hazard Level will increase
Eggstra Work is basically a Preset Job Scenario. That means: It's always the same waves. You can try as much as you want to practice
As an special rule for this Eggstra Work, you need to gather with a friend in order to participate. Upcoming Eggstra Works will let you participate with random teammates
If you're going to participate, I wish you the best of lucks~

you seem cool so i’ll let you in on a little secret: do not use the pools feature for eggstra. i won 1 match out of 15, no one is luring and they’re wasting specials on grillers… not being able to vc when you’re trying to check spawns is really painful in this mode ;-;
I mean my first team pool was actually pretty okay we didn't get above our highscore but we beat all the waves :0

alright here’s all the eggstra work strategies i’ve found
first of all, here’s all of what spawns where and when in each wave, at each hazard level, datamined from the game
wave 1: since you only have 7 bosses and 21 eggs, 3 people can easily handle that while someone (possibly splattershot, as the best turfer) can go back and ink the walls/etc to prepare for mid/high tide waves
wave 2: griller spawns aren’t limited, so your goal is to just take them out as fast as possible (you need to get 8 or more for 2x quota, 36 eggs). for the first griller, which comes from the left, go over to the platform left of the basket’s platform and splat it there. afterward, you generally want to stay on the basket platform to get the rest (staying on the tower in the middle, the typical strategy i’ve seen for this stage up to this point, may be safer, but it’s less efficient for getting eggs) (charger can hang out on the tower unless they’re targeted though). as usual, someone should be taking care of smallfry (probably roller but blaster/splattershot can do it if needed)
wave 3: this is one of the hard ones (probably a good time to use specials), and conveniently you don’t actually need to get 2x the quota, since reportedly it’s easier to get more eggs in wave 5 if you only get it to 270% rather than the maximum 300%. so don’t worry if you only get 1.5x, and if you do get 2x, consider holding back a little to get 1.5x on wave 4 (if you can even do that, depending on how much you’re able to communicate with your team)
wave 4: once the goldies get down on the ground, it’s the roller’s job to roll at them from the front as they move, which can help take them out super quickly (the first one can be splatted as early as when it gets in front of the basket platform using this method). as soon as you can search for the next one, someone should go get it going (the link above shows the order they spawn in--try to memorize at least the first 5) while the rest of the team grabs eggs (roller doesn’t need to be the person to hit the gusher, just at least try to time it so you’re there once the goldie comes down to the ground)
wave 5: another hard one (use whatever specials you have left, of course). start by staying behind the basket to lure the drizzler toward you. it can be shot at from below while it moves (particularly by the charger). maws will spawn after the drizzler, so that’s another reason to be near the basket. that gets you a good start, at least
all in all, from each wave you want to aim for (assuming optimum hazard level increases):
21 (technically you can miss 1 egg and get 20 but like. who does that)
36+ (8+ grillers defeated)
39-51 (maybe stop if you happen to make it into the high 40s, since you don’t want 2x)
58+ (each goldie 16, so that’s 4+)
31+
at bare minimum, that gets you 185-197. apparently the 240s is typically the highest people are getting though, which is far from the theoretical best of about 300 that i mentioned in a previous post (though i did just look and find a screenshot from someone who got 280 so uh. yeah.). i think getting over 200 is a somewhat reasonable goal if you don’t have an organized team or anything. might not get you gold but probably at least silver
i also just found a twitter thread from salmonrun.ink that goes over some tips, much of which overlaps with what i’ve said here but also more specific about waves 3 and 5
