Alright guys! I finally got that tingly feeling that I should do this kind of love reading. I still didn't want to make this a future spouse reading because I honestly overthink the concept, like "um divorces happen!" or some people just don't believe in marriage, but I thought I'd do something adorable and Christmas related. I hope that you guys enjoy!

Their letter to Santa
Dear Santa, For so long I've been in the darkness, alone with the glass pieces of my heart, thinking that it's better this way for me to be on own. I don't believe in fairy tales anymore and my ability to imagine a world where I can be in love with someone and in that same way be loved back. My mind is splintered to where I flinch the minute someone to me gets close or when they mention a promise, that I without a doubt know they won't keep. Socially, I feel numb, meeting allegedly new people, seems to be a broken record in different physiques. If you could grant me any present in the world, would you change my definition of what I know to be love? Falling away from the stranger(s) that used to be who I knew from head to toe, has damaged my beliefs that I'm worthy of something more. And should you succeed in bringing my love, may they be my most divine contradiction in my life. My love will be someone new, yet possess familiarty in which I'll take pleasure in spending the rest of my lifetime finding all of the ways that we just understand each other. The sound of their voice and the words that they speak will be the fire that warms instead of scorching me. They'll be my rock that I won't have to tip toe around. Right now, I ask for their forgiveness for the person that I am right now, but for every tear that I currently shed to release the pain of my troubles in romance, builds my strength to be the person that really loves again, and the confidence to give my all despite my mistakes in giving it to the wrong people. Don't let my reserved aura fool you, deep down, I'm a hopeless romantic, that will work hard to find any and every single way to give you the world to prove the depth of my feelings for you. The same way that I'm learning my lessons, you are too, we both share that agony of why this has to hurt so much, but it's the bitter that goes along with the sweet to lead us to each other in the end.
Your Christmas Traditions:
Life with your partner could already be luxurious, meaning they gift you with presents on a regular basis that are both as an expression of love and desire to get the things that you want, so Christmas, traditionally, will feel like a normal day. What makes it stand out to you guys as a couple is how you guys seem to always unlock a new level of intimacy around this time of the year. For you or them, Christmas could make some not so good feelings resurface and put someone in a mood. Whatever that may trigger this, it usually leads to a peaceful resolution that doesn't just prolong the tension for another day. It's like getting to the root of the issue that'll eventually lead you and your partner to a place of comfort, understanding, and confirmation that this relationship isn't based on surface level things.

Their Letter to Santa:
Dear Santa, There's this ethereal figure in my dreams that I keep seeing. Without a doubt, I know that this is my person. And maybe it's not realistic to ask for you to make the time go faster for us to encounter each other in real life, but I really want answers, I'm craving to know this person. Their face alone, is enough to put me into hypnosis. Not knowing what their voice sounds like, ignites my obsession. I've never been a believer of the supernatural, or even a big fan of religion, but this sensation of the person of my dreams that makes me desire to stay asleep, has to be an indication that we're spiritually connected. I know this person doesn't say a word in both their presence of visions in day and night, but I have this clawing feeling that you're what home feels like. To the lover of my fantasies, I  know you spiritually, but emotionally, with you, I'll finally have someone that doesn't think my expression of feeling is a foreign language. I could talk to you for hours without getting bored and your nature in every capacity makes me feel that you're out of this world with a love that I'm determined to study and reciprocate. I'm already amazed by how gorgeous you are but indubitably I know I'll be stunned everytime I'm by your side watching you prove to me that magic on Earth is real. You're the breathing proof of it and I can't help but be adored by you and the way that you perceive making the most out of the challenges that you face and conquer.
Your Christmas Traditions:
You and your life partner BREATHE for Christmas. Valentine's day may be special but Christmas is the time that you guys will be all over each other. You guys could go all out this holiday, by buying and wearing matching pajamas, playing board games with each other, watching marathons of Christmas themed movies, maybe you guys have a specific drink like hot chocolate, egg nog, or cookies that you love to stock up on. You guys could also be the type to take a vacation around this time by renting out a cabin, or taking a trip to Disney World. This is normal for you guys and you aren't aware of this jubilant vibe that you have together but it makes others wanting to share the joy you have. Your public presence as a couple during Christmas is the type that will make a person want to use you guys as their mood board or inspiration to daydream about the love that that they'd kill to have. You guys are the power couple in terms of playfulness, affection, and how unique you guys embody your partnership. You could also experience people asking you for advice for how to liven up their own relationships. You guys are just that cute with each other.
Pile Three 🎄
Their Letter to Santa:
Dear Santa, I have a good feeling that the person that I will view as my everything is currently contemplating if there's something that they should change about themselves, but do me this favor homie and give my sweet firecracker this message. You. Yeah you. You know who you are. You are a boss! Walking royalty in this world that's meant to take up space, of course there are gonna be some jerks that want to dim your light, but the people who can't handle how bona-fide and wealthy your aura is, are people who are uncomfortable with the fact that they don't possess the tools to handle the blessing that you are. You were never asking for too much and don't let the grinch or scrooge convince you that you aren't enough. Believe me, I wish that fate would allow me to show up in your life right now, but you're meant to learn how precious your attributes you are. You're a damsel that can save yourself, who is meant to climb into power and achieve many things. I'm currently healing my tendencies of being codependent so that I don't distract you from your prosperity or project my insecurities onto you and make you think that it's you, it's not. Be patient, but don't get rid of how bold you are love or choose sides in how you're capable of being silly and someone with authority. Your strength isn't in your silence, but in your intelligence and maturity to express to others your feelings and what your needs are. You'll always be on top, even on days where you feel like you're at rock bottom. Keep pushing, things will make sense soon. You won't just find me in your happily ever after, you'll find your soul tribe too. And we will ALL match your energy. Trust me. Everything that you think is complicated about you is why we're grateful for you.
Your Christmas Traditions:
You and your life partner share a common tragedy and belief. You guys may have experienced toxicity in your family that inspires the both of you to do things differently with your own family. Christmas time is pivotal for you as a couple, because it influences you to reflect but also to take action on how well you guys do as a household. Your Christmas Traditions could be about trying your best to make sure that there's peace, openess, but most importantly your presence if guys have children together. You could go all out with making sure that they have the best presents, that they have the best indication that they're safe with you guys as parents, and that you make the most pleasant and fun memories that will symbolize how much that not just you and your life partner love each other but making sure that your children know how much they're loved by you.

December 21st, 2022 (Present Day) You managed to open the door in time to see Wanda open her eyes. She smiled halfheartedly when she saw you, a vase of flowers in one hand, one of her presents in the other. You sighed as you placed the small gift on the couch against the wall, setting the vase on the nightstand next to her. You glanced at the heart monitor beeping at a steady pace as you leaned over her, running the back of your hand across her forehead before placing a soft, gentle kiss against it. She immediately picked her head up in a desperate attempt to make the kiss last, but she was only left chasing after your lips for a moment before she fell back to the bed with a huff.
“I’m feeling some deja vu,” she muttered bitterly.
“I don’t want to say I told you so,” you expressed slowly, crossing your arms over your chest as you looked down at her with a playful grin, “but this is what happens when you don’t kiss me before leaving for a mission. You end up in a hospital bed.”
Wanda laughed in a mocking tone, rolling her eyes when you chuckled. “It’s only a few cuts and bruises, nothing too serious.” She breathed out steadily, shaking her head as she moved to sit up. “Doctor said I’ll be out in just a few hours.” You saw her eye the present as you sat down in the chair close to the bed, your grin gradually fading as you crossed your legs, leaning back and making yourself comfortable.
“Waiting for the call is one of the bad parts of the job,” you told her quietly, sighing as you met her dazzling green eyes, “but the knock will always be worst.” You leaned forward to accept her hand when she reached out for you, readjusting yourself to move the chair closer to allow her to press your knuckles against her lips. “Anyone with decent courtesy will tell you in person.” You pursed your lips, smiling sadly at her.
She gave you a tug, pulling you closer so she could place her palm against your cheek. Her eyes were soft and affectionate, enveloping you in a feeling that matched a warm hug on a cold day. Her smile was small yet sincere, running her thumb over your cheekbone in gentle swipes as you sucked in a deep breath. She didn’t need to say anything, her face alone was enough to assure you and she knew that, but she still spoke either way, “We’ll worry about that when the time comes.” Because neither of you knew when the knock will come, but that it’s bound to happen. “Let’s focus on the present,” she suggested.
You continued to lose yourself in her deep eyes, swimming in an ocean of green with the warm glow of the sun, and it only took you a moment too long to realize exactly what she meant. “Ha, ha, very punny.” You pulled away with her when she let out a low chuckle, shaking your head as you stood up to fetch the gift. “You’re lucky you’re unwell.”
“Are you going to take care of me when we get home?” she questioned, smirking at you as she accepted the wrapped present. “Pamper me. Make me feel like a queen.” You sat down as you lost the battle against the grin threatening your façade. “Make my wishes your commands.”
“Wanda, darling, if I treated you any more like a queen, then we might just have to make it an official title,” you assured her, leaning forward to rest your elbows against the bed. She looked down at the wrapping paper covering whatever it was you had given her, running a finger over the smoothness as you cleared your throat. “Do you want to guess what it is or are you going to open it?”
“What if I get it right?” she questioned, raising an eyebrow at you as a corner of her lips tugged up into a challenging smirk. “Will I receive a prize?”
A jovial scoff scratched your throat as you made eye contact with the Sokovian, mimicking her expression as your brow arched up and a smug smile teased your mouth. “You’re already getting a prize,” you laughed gently. “You want another one?”
“It’s harmless fun, Y/N,” she defended, leaning her head back against the pillows as she smiled at you, luring you into her trap.
You hummed, pursing your lips together and staring at her. “If you get it, I’ll give you an prize.” She sat up, her eyes widening with excitement, but you were quick to put your finger up to silence her as you added, “But you have to get it exact. No-”
“It’s jewelry.”
“A little bit more specific, Hex,” you said, your voice taunting. “That’s a very general-”
“Bracelet.” You blinked, your lips pursing together as you leaned back in the chair, crossing your arms over your chest as she giggled softly in victory. “I know you too well, baby.” You huffed as she dug her fingers into the the gift wrap, ripping off the decorative paper with no remorse. Her eyes left yours as she looked down at the jewelry box, her mouth opening to express success, but her voice couldn’t seem to leave her throat when she saw the bracelet. “Is that…” You nodded with a small grin as she brought the piece into her palm, looking at the elongated charm with the simple words etched into them in your handwriting; I love you.
You watched her face carefully, the way her eyes shimmered as the ran a gentle thumb across the engraving. “All of these presents I gave you allowed us to commemorate the better times in our relationship.” You cleared your throat as you moved your chair closer to her, leaning your elbows against the mattress. “It’s a reminder,” you started, earning her attention as her eyes slowly snapped onto yours, “that, despite how incredibly happy we both are now, it wasn’t always like this. And I think we should remember the bad as much as we remember the good.”
━━ᗢ━━
January 13th, 2018 “What do I even mean to you?” She demanded an answer to a question behind a mask of fury, but you had become skilled in pinpointing the true emotion the Sokovian would hide. She looked at you with eyes that were filled with heartache, a look that you had never wanted to be the cause of. You should feel sympathy. You should find a way to bring back that joyful spark in those emeralds, but the exhaustion and pain coursing through your bones from the mission you had just returned from only boosted the anger triggered from her inquiry, allowing it to win against the logical, empathetic side of your brain.
“That’s such a ridiculous question.” Your tone was harsh, snapping at her in a way that caused her display of rage to falter for a moment. She had expected you to console her, to answer her question the way you had actually wanted to. Yet your blood only boiled with wrath. “Why would you even ask that?”
She crossed her arms over her chest tightly, blocking herself from you as if she wasn’t already on the other side of the bedroom. Her eyebrows were pinched tightly together, her jaw locked shut, and the veil of rage seem to become genuine as any sign of sorrow left her eyes. “It’s starting to feel like I’m nothing to you.” Her voice wavered between anger and despair, and your heart pleaded for you to let go of your own anger before you lost her.
But you were too stupid to listen to it. “Where is this coming from?” you demanded.
“You’re never here anymore, Y/N!” She had gotten louder, fury winning against sadness as she took a step towards you. “You’re always gone! You never answer my calls or reply to my texts! This is the first time in weeks that I get to hear your voice again!” You rolled your eyes, turning away from her as a humorless laugh scraped against your throat. “This isn’t a joke, Y/N. I need you to take this seriously.” You fiddled with the blankets on the bed, giving your mind something to do as you heard the floorboards creak under her weight the more steps she took to get closer to you. “Stop with the damn blankets and look at me!”
“Will you get off my back, Wanda?” you demanded, turning to look at her. “Just leave me the hell alone already!”
There. Right there. The way the anger immediately evaporated at your commands, the way the sadness shined in the spotlight. It only caused everything you had felt in this moment to wane away, regret and guilt stepping up to the plate as your face fell. Her eyes sparkled with tears, her bottom lip trembled, yet she still had the courage to look at you.
“I didn’t-” You stepped towards her, reaching out for her, but she only mimicked your movement as she moved backward. “Wanda-”
“I can’t.” She shook her head. “I can’t do this anymore, Y/N.”
“Wanda, please-”
“We’re done.” A pressure against your chest left you with the inability to breathe as she walked away. You watched her leave with your feet glued to the floor. And your heart whispered for forgiveness one last time before you could feel it stop.
It was as if you had disappeared from the compound. From her life. The minutes seemed to drag the next day, turning into hours. She had anticipated you knocking on her door. She had anticipated seeing you in the halls when she was forced to go into the kitchen to quench her hunger. Yet, the longer she went without seeing you as the day passed, the more final it seemed. In the heat of the moment, she had broken off quite possibly the greatest relationship she could ever find herself in; a relationship filled with nothing but love and respect and trust. All because you had decided to take up a few extra missions. Missions that helped make the world a better place, even for just a moment. But her pride deterred her from reaching out to you in an attempt to make amends.
The moon could be seen from her window through the snowflakes, and it was then that she had realized that you had another mission lined up for today. One that would’ve taken you away from the compound for the next few days. It was a wonder why she didn’t bump into you at all. Or that you didn’t bother finding her. Yet it didn’t stop her from feeling that same sadness she had felt since last night, sitting on her bed with tears in her eyes.
She wasn’t oblivious to the folded piece of paper that slid under her door, though it did cause her to furrow her eyebrows with curiosity as she stood up slowly. She wiped at her face, making her way to the note to pick it up. Three little words written in black ink; Je vous aime. Yet it was just enough to pull a smile on her lips, her hand reaching forward to open the door, yet the smile faded just as quickly as it had appeared when she saw nothing in the hallway.
The next morning was no different. When her eyes opened and she sat up in the bed, she saw a second folded piece of paper at the bottom of her door. She bit her cheek to prevent a smile as she climbed out of bed, releasing a sigh as she looked at the note once more. Te amo. She released a soft chuckle, shaking her head as she placed the paper on her desk before she went to get dressed.
She had just walked into the kitchen, sending whoever was at the table a small, brief smile before she made her way to the coffee pot, pulling a mug out of the cabinet above. But she froze when she saw another piece of paper tucked into the cup, eyebrows furrowing deeply as she pulled it out to read it. Ana bhebik. She glanced towards the SHIELD agents briefly before looking back down at the handwritten note to hide her forming blush. She tucked it away into her pocket before making herself a cup of coffee.
She was walking down the hall when she heard someone call out for her, her steps halting so she could turn around. She watched Steve curiously as he closed the distance between her and him, eyebrows furrowed slightly with confusion as she crossed her arms over her chest. “I was told to give this to you.” He held up a familiar piece of paper, and she bit back her smile as she accepted the note from the patriot. “I’m not even going to ask.” She laughed lightly as he walked away with a shake of his head, reading the foreign language on the paper; Ich liebe dich.
It was difficult for her to wipe off the smile that had managed to form the rest of the day, having gone to bed that night with a singing heart. Though she hasn’t seen you yet, she knew you were working to make amends. And, as she got situated in bed, a soft tap that came from her window caused her to sit up. She couldn’t help but sigh as she climbed back to her feet, letting a second knock against the glass guide her. She looked down, eyebrows furrowed when she saw you standing down below in the snow-covered ground, your arms held out wide.
Her eyes flickered to the space in front of you, and she laughed when she read out what you had carved into the thick layers of white. I love you. And though it made her heart skip a beat, she forced herself to step away from the window.
You released a sigh of defeat, watching the cloud of smoke leave your mouth as you turned away from the building. It was official, it seemed. Succumbing to the anger led you to losing one of the most important people in your life. And it only caused a great pain, digging a giant hole in your heart that you’ll have difficulty filling.
You took a step forward, feeling the snow crunch underneath your foot, but you froze when you saw a figure round the corner. Wanda moved towards you, and you felt your breath catch in your throat when she stopped walking with more than a few feet between the two of you.
“What are you doing?” she questioned.
“I’m learning how to say ‘I love you’ in every language until you realize just how much I do,” you answered. You held a hand up, your middle and ring finger pressed against your palm. “See? This is I love you in ASL.” She stared at you, and you could feel your heart sink when she shook her head.
“You need to stop, Y/N,” she claimed.
“And I need you to understand that I’m not going to stop,” you expressed, putting your hand down. “I love you, Wanda Maximoff, and I’m so sorry for everything, but I am not going to-” She was quick to close the distance, her hands catching your face to bring your lips against hers in a kiss that did a better job at warming you up than your coat did.
“I forgive you,” she whispered against your face when she pulled away, looking into your eyes as a smile tugged her mouth. “I’m sorry, too.” And she pushed against you again, pressing your lips together as if it were the last piece to the puzzle, but you couldn’t stop your feet from slipping out from underneath you and, with your arms around her, you brought her down with you when you fell backward into the snow.
━━ᗢ━━
Present Day “Three years ago, you had asked me a question,” you told her, taking one of her hands into both of yours with a soft smile, watching your thumb run smoothly over her knuckles. “I don’t think I answered the question the way I wanted to, but…” You looked up at her, breathing out a small laugh when you saw her biting her bottom lip. “You mean everything to me, Wanda Maximoff.”
She used the hand you weren’t holding to wipe away the stray tear that managed to escape, causing you to laugh softly. “Do you still remember them?”
“Te amo,” you expressed with a sly smirk, watching her eyes shine brighter than the fluorescent lights above you. “Ich liebe dich. Je vous aime.” You smiled widely, leaning closer to her, as you held your hand up as you had that night. “I love you.”
“I’ll take my prize now.” You managed to get off a laugh before she was the one to close the distance again, falling deep against you as you kissed her as if it was the last thing you’d ever do.

the last book grandma ever read was agatha christie's "murder on the orient express," which was also the first book my mother remembers getting from her as a gift and not a hand-me-down from her siblings.
one of her favorite 'isms' was 'all things in moderation,' but she also had a plaque in the kitchen when my aunts were growing up that read "you have to kiss a lot of horny toads before you find a prince" and another tchotchke that featured a cherub swinging on a length of twine that said "when you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot and HANG ON." like every nonna on earth before her, she ushered us to dinner with a "mangia" - which was also what it said on her favorite apron.
the last picture taken of her was her first picture with her great-granddaughter ellie, who's two months old and named after her. it was the first and only time they met.

there is no feeling worse in the world than missing your grandma :/
#she died two months before my eighth birthday#and every time i realize i’ve lived well over half my life without her i go a little bit insane bc that just doesn’t feel right#like soooo many of my favorite memories are with her how is it possible she was only in my life for less than eight years#my grandpas on both sides died before i was born so all i’ve ever had is my grandmas#and there’s also the horrible guilt i feel all the time knowing my other grandma is still alive but i rarely ever see her#but when i was a kid she lived an hour and a half away from us and this grandma lived around the corner#so we saw her all the time and every christmas fourth of july etc that whole side of my extended family would all go to her house#she moved into that house when my mom was 2 years old and lived there for the rest of her life so 40 years#and when she went into hospice care her one request was to die in that house surrounded by her kids and grandkids so that’s what happened#my parents bought the house after she died but we lived there for less than 2 years before moving to arizona#they’re both from colorado but they met in arizona and me and my sisters were born here#and the main reason we moved back to colorado in the first place was to be near her#but when we moved again my parents sold the house to our neighbors who had two daughters that my sisters and i grew up with#and they’re still our family friends to this day and we used to go on trips to national parks together every summer#we didn’t see them for maybe five years but then two summers ago their older daughter got married and we went to her wedding#which got us talking about how long it had been since our last trip so we went on another one last summer#this has turned into a tangent but it just makes me so happy that they’re still in our lives#and this great family we’ve known almost my entire life is living in my grandma’s house#she had a pool in her backyard which is super common here in az but not so much in colorado#and she let us invite these girls over all the time to swim so they grew up spending almost as much time in that house as we did#last time we were in colorado we went to have dinner with them and swim and it was like being transported back to my childhood#that house is just so special to me and i felt so blessed to be able to go back there since this family bought it instead of strangers#in a perfect world everything would align in a way that would let me buy it when i’m older and have my own family there#i’ve never had a strong attachment to any other house we’ve lived in but that one will always be my grandma’s house in my mind#i just love and miss her so much she was the most amazing grandma i ever could have asked for#my mom still has a lot of her childhood friends on facebook and whenever she would post pictures of me and my sisters as kids#everyone would comment that i looked exactly like my grandma did when she was a kid and that makes me so so happy#anyway. idk. i just miss her sm she was an angel and i’m so happy she was such a big part of my childhood#lj.txt
