Lucatiel Ramble, number one out of... a lot.
Every time I play ds2 I make sure to do Lucatiel’s entire quest even if it makes me sob uncontrollably when she..... y’know..... spoilers for a game that came out in 2011
Begs you not to forget her name and says that she may not even remember herself, and then gives you her equipment, basically the only possessions an undead would ever have and the only means of guaranteeing your survival in Drangleic, bc she trusts you that much, even when she remembers nothing. I love her sm and she deserves so much better than that run-down shack in Aldia. Also, the item desc on her mask in DSIII hits me like a goddamn truck. Lucatiel canonically was a part of the Bearer of the Curse’s journey and they made sure she was remembered until the very end of the world itself. She is literally my favorite soulsborne npc and I wish we got more of her. I would always be so happy to find out I can summon her somewhere which meant that I could talk to her a little bit. And the fact that she tells you she’d kill you if it meant getting the cure, but then later entrusts the legacy of herself and her brother to you alone. It’s so sad, because I don’t even know if she remembered her brother by that point. She said that her oldest memories were fading first, but I feel like it was more along the lines of the memories that had the least meaning. Why? Because while she remembers her  past in mirrah and her brother, she doesn’t remember why she came to drangleic, which is much more recent than any of those other things. So, if my theory is true, and she only remembers the most important things, then her remembering your character while on the brink of hollowing means that you were of great importance to her, likely due to the lack of friendly faces in ds2, making your character stand out to her, especially since she recognizes you no matter what you’re wearing or if you’ve completely changed everything about your character (stats, using the funny trans coffin, etc.).

i do love FromSoft architecture and how the cities (almost) meld into a semi-coherent stage or whatnot
but I do have to say, all this architecture is bougie as hell, where are the backstreets of this town??? where are the middle class neighborhoods

Random thoughts time! Fromsoftware drip edition!
Before the DLC drops, lemme show yall my favorite armor sets in each game. With some minor thoughts on each one. Rate what yall think of my overall tastes.
Tumblr media
First up is Demon's Souls Dark Silver set. Garl "Can't call it simping if it works" Vinland's set. Love the perfectly smoothed faceplate that can only functionaly let you see through it with magic of some kind.
Tumblr media
Dark souls 1. The Iron Golem! Yeah it gets spanked by Tarkus but it's armor makes me look and feel like a fucking tank with legs. And in the game where poise is king, that is a wonderful feeling.
Tumblr media
Dark souls 2. The Faraam Set, the only Boxart armor set to be on my list. The armor itself is nice but that furred collar sets it over the rest. I imagine my undead feels nice and cozy while marching around in Eleum Loyce.
Tumblr media
Shifting over to Bloodborne, Maria was the most dripped out hunter in all of Yharnam. It is almost not fair, the Cainhurst drip is just on another level compared to the trench coat wearer's she hangs out with.
Tumblr media
Back into Dark souls with the Ringed Knight set. Yes it is just the Dark Armor some minor alterations and a burning lava hole in the middle, that is part of what makes it cool. They took the edgiest La Parka looking ass armor from DS1 and made it better.
Tumblr media
And finally Elden Ring's Tree Sentinel armor. Every new playthrough I point at that patroling fucker outside of Kale's church and say, "I just wanna be like you, big bro!" Cause that semi-roman asthetic, but made of pure gold is just. *Chefs Kiss*

I'd never heard of the theory that the Ivory King and the knights of Eleum Loyce were all secretly female before, but I can actually get behind that. (For context, this theory is based on the facts that female characters get a healing bonus when wearing the Ivory or Burnt Ivory sets, and that the Ivory King and his knights always hid their faces from public.)
This also lines up with Alsanna's allusions to Ciaran. Each of the Sisters of Dark bear some thematic affiliation with the Knights of Gwyn (Nashandra and the giants = Gough, Nadalia and Fume Knight Raime = Artorias, Elana and Yorgh the dragonslayer = Ornstein, Alsanna mourning her corrupted companion = Ciaran).
Ciaran and the rest of the Lord's Blades were all female... I'm not sure why it would matter to the Ivory King that they obscured their gender, but it's kind of cool to think they were defying binarism though. Either way, I'm just always excited to see more acknowledgement of Ciaran in lore lol.

Burnt Ivory King was a woman. The knights we free in Eleum Loyce and the knights who went with her into the Old Chaos are also women.

If you would be so kind, what are the answers to 6 (top 3 npcs), 8 (top 3 areas), 18 (top 3 soundtracks), and 37 38 (what is your least favorite thing about each game)? :D
omg thank u for including the prompts in the ask so i dont have to keep looking back at the list i love u for that. anyway
6) Lucatiel from ds2, Djura from bloodborne, and of course u knowwww I gotta give a slot to dark daughter gwyndolin for reasons most obvious. honroable mentions for lady maria and sellen
8) i unironically think Caelid is fucking dope in the way its designed like the Vibe is unreal especially when u first show up there. Irithyll in ds3 does a similar thing where you come outta the cave leading back to the catacombs and see this blinding crystalline castle town type area that seems permanently frozen in place. Like eleum loyce from ds2 if it was actually good. Last on my list is gonna have to go for another ds3 location and im technically combining 2 zones into one but the whole dlc sequence from the dreg heap to the ringed city is so so cool to me. demonstrates a familiar world in ruins and reinforces the idea that all of the games occur in parallell realities without being TOO on the nose about it (it is funny that they chose to make earthen peak from ds2 the recognizable structure to signal this. like they knew everyone hated that place and wanted to say "we hear you so here it is again but its collapsed and mostly ash now"
18) Ebrietas theme is my fav overall its the most perfect situational use of a whole tone scale ice ever heard. Elden Beast theme is also rly good tonally like youve done all this fighting and buildup to see this sad bastard monster and the music conveys a sense of "poor guy :( so sad. but you do have to kill him". similar to gwyns theme in that way but the orchestration of elden beasts theme seals the deal for me. third one im going back to bloodborne. marias theme is fucking cool it feels like a really tense dance and matches the flow of the boss fight so nicely. also a sucker for them interpolating bell tower noises to highlight her position as the clocktowers guardian. plus shes hot.
38) my least favorite areas are probably in line with most others opinions on the matter. demon ruins sucks big time and has one of the worst bosses ever waiting for you at the end (and the bonfire run thru lava and dragon asses and those tentacle freaks is a miserable slog), faron keep was always kind of a sore spot in ds3 runs for me. you can handle the sludge using the dagger weapon art i just think its weird that it briefly turns into a zelda dungeon asking you to light some torches and those goddamb jumping guys ohhhh the jumping guys..fuck off! my third choice goes to valley of defilement in demon souls. everyobe says blighttown is the worst swamp zone but theyve clearly never had to slog thru the valley of defilement lol. i get that its supposed to be dark n murky but good fucking god man
