Birthday chapter (for me) !! This chapter is about 7k words!

Forgetting Rory Williams is a Dr. Who s7A(+s12) AU following the series of events after a wristwatch resets, and reveals that Rory Williams was the Master the whole time.

Chapter Warnings/Features: When you come back from the dead and you're the only one who notices that something is wrong. Surgically removing the part of yourself you deem broken and being surprised that there's a gaping wound in the shape of it left behind. TenTrauma. Amy and Rory getting to briefly catch up! The haunting, confusing visage of an old-future friend!

the doctor is emotionally manipulative. he’s very good at it, and even better at justifying it both to himself and the people he’s doing it to. he can see when his approval, his affection, is valuable enough to someone that withholding it will be an effective way of getting them to do what he wants. this is one of his best flaws, that he’ll do this to people and do it to them for his own definition of what’s good for them.

You know I'm starting to realize that my basis for my favorite Doctor Who pairings is people who change/affect each other on a fundamental level, character arcs entwined with each other's in some rather impossible (and often in both hopeful and tragic ways) and that's why although I like TenRose well enough, I ADORE NineRose (and NineRoseJack, under the same parameters). I will ship some version of TenMartha forever. TwelveMissy is my beloved. Even ElevenAmyRory functions somewhat under that same umbrella.

The trick is just that the change has to go both ways, so ElevenRiver and Thasmin (though both have their merits) just never vibed for me PERSONALLY.* River and Yaz were both changed on a fundamental level by their Doctors, but their Doctors didn't always seem to be changed fundamentally in return. Like, clearly, canonically, Eleven and Thirteen both loved River and Yaz respectively, but their character arcs and growth and/or devolution at characters were not inextricably linked by other's influence on their life.

*This is an extremely subjective opinion. Not trying to start any flame wars. Just my take on things.

The Master grabs the Doctor by the shirt collar, hauls him close, to whisper. “If I hurt Amy? When did you plan to tell her that she’s not Amy?” A crack in his self-righteousness.

“Where is my wife?” Rory demands.

“I don’t know,” the Doctor says, “…yet.”

“Was she pregnant?”

“Yes.” The Master lets go, doesn’t want the Doctor to see him reel.

“I’ll burn every star to find her,” he promises. “Stain the universe the same shade as her hair.”

“I won’t let you.”

“Two thousand years, Doctor,” Rory snaps. “You didn’t stay for one.”

Just as a heads up as I'm working on the next update of my Doctor Who AU series: I will answer any questions regarding my opinions on Doctor Who or about the writing of my series.

For canon: Favorite Doctor. Favorite part of every Doctor (I have something I like about each of them!) Favorite episode of each series. Favorite companion. The Master had a longstanding habit that he really couldn’t kick: if he was ouand about and saw a TARDIS, there were times he just couldn’t help himself.

Most of the time it was locked. Even if he could tell it was unlocked, it wasn’t like the ship herself would let him in. But he had to check. Morbid curiosity, out of anything else. And he had to check because, sometimes, very rarely… It was unlocked.

Why would she actually let him in?

His first thought was that it had to be Dark, then. Maybe not the one he just ducked away from for a walk, but still him. Or the TARDIS, somehow, got confused. Or was in danger.

It was just to look around and leave. But when he walked in it was so familiar. Everything felt… Like it was a few inches to the left. Off, but not entirely so. All he had to do was look for him... And… See what happened.

Koschei walked quietly, carefully, seeking out the patterns of a mental signature he engraved into his own, not unlike how a bloodhound might hunt down a scent. Of course he was in the library. Of course.

But he wasn’t supposed to be here. So he was quiet, plodding through the halls, pushing at a door that he knew wouldn’t creak if he only opened it enough to slip through. Koschei hid himself in a particular set of shelves. Now he had to focus more on potentially making his psychic signature rather than being caught. It was so big, he wasn’t worried about going unseen while he sought out where Theta, Dark, where he- was. Because something was very familiar, just… Off. Or wrong. Something was wrong, and he didn’t know what. But he was going to find out.

okay so I'd suggest starting with 9 (he marks the start of "nuwho"). he's hella under-appreciated and unfortunately got the shortest season. but his season is SO GOOD

10 is the most popular season with good reason. David Tennant played a sopping wet cat so perfectly. (this is also where we get the most popular version of The Master. the one with the red dog collar)

11 is my absolute favorite and I think you'd like him too!!! his season is honestly horribly written but Matt Smith plays the character so well. he talks like he's in a Dr. Seuss book and he's so full of life. an absolutely feral critter. a real silly goose. friend shaped. (plus the Ponds and their romance are amazing. I adore Rory sm)

i don't know much abt 12 but I know he served so much during his run. silly old man. plus the gorgeous gorgeous Missy!!!!

i have to say I haven't watched 13,,,,, but I'm certain the rest of tumblr has me covered for 13 sjagaidabk

I don't want to go to work I want to think about this stupid fucking blorbo and finish this chapter update before my birthday at the end of the week. Maybe pouring coffee for like 8 hours will help me think of how to end these conversations and move us along.

the Doctor being a vampire. like, drinks blood and has fangs and stuff. likely needs solid food too but blood is an important part of their diet :)

nine keeps blood pouches stashed in stasis fridges around the tardis. sips one like a juice box in front of rose and has asked for donations from her and jack for convenience. he steals blood from rich assholes and politicians sometimes.

ten has an insane guilt complex about it and will not touch roses leftover blood. he feels bad about acquiring it and asking for it, and does not tell martha about needing blood until like, she catches him taking a big sip of slightly old blood destined for medical waste disposal he snagged from a hospital. (this is not healthy for him. she will be forcing him to accept donations from her). donna finds out because river makes him drink some of her blood for basic sustenance. and then donna demands he go stock up at "vampire planet." 10 is constantly blood malnourished.

eleven just decides to bite people for a quick snack sometimes. he cheerfully relays his vampirism to amelia but reassures her he only "eats bad people" or "gets snacks from his friends". amy will randomly shove her arm at him when he's clearly hungry and hasn't realized. he tries to bite rory once and rory nopes out (and then performs a blood draw on himself and lectures the doctor about being sanitary). clara will not let him get away with not drinking her blood, it's almost a problem.

i havent seen 12 recently, share your opinions on him

13 does not mention any of this to her companions. the master tells them about it. 13 is like "haha yeah" and never brings it up again. they don't know where she's getting blood or when. (she is ordering it off space amazon)(the tardis is also stealing blood that won't be used from hospitals for her wife)

i havent seen 14 or 15 but i just know donna is making unit deliver blood regularly to her house for 14 because he's too sad and wet to ask for any right now

stealing from the tv movie i think all time lords when not inside tardises or possessing another lifeform should look like little goo snakes. you force a fourth-dimensional time being to be flattened into the material plane, they become a little snake.

Whoever it is at the bbc never gave Matt and Moffat credit for creating the global popularity of Who - it wasn't ten, it wasn't Tennant and rtd, it was Matt and Moffat - and then Peter, Jenna , Michelle and Moffat and that whole production team, with Murray

Listen I know this is going to get controversial but these are my favorite ships for each Doctor:

Nine/Rose or Nine/Rose/Jack (refer to my OT3 post about Nine x Rose x Jack or just...all of Nine and Rose's character development for Season 1 for reasons)

Ten/Martha (but like Season 4 Ten/Martha after they are on more equal footing/the Doctor has realized how he fucked up, they would have been legendary)

Eleven/Amy/Rory (in that sweet spot post-Season 5, pre-God-Complex)

Twelve/Missy (this is the one version of the Thoschei ship that could actually work out long term, and though I love the batshit deranged energy of TenSimm and SpyDoc, this is the variation I think complements each other best in not just their feral energy/foils to each other, but also in their genuine understanding of each other and devotion to each other)

Thirteen/Jack (I really want to say Thasmin but Thirteen/Jack fascinates me so much you have no idea, all of that history, all of that guilt and outsurviving everyone and understanding each other like no one else does...it's a ship that lives mostly on headcanon but hey, most Doctor ships live mostly on headcanon)

(And this isn't even getting into my non-canon ships for the magical universe where continuity between showrunners could have worked... R.I.P. to Eleven x Rose, Twelve x Martha, and Bill x Thirteen)

He glances behind Amy, and the Doctor stares horrified at the Master like he would a wild animal about to tear his friend's face off. The Master considers it.

But Amy is looking at Rory, and Rory can't help looking back.

"Don't scare me like that." She bumps their foreheads together and scolds, teases, "or I'll kill you."

doctor who 15x01 (the robot revolution) spoilers! (actually, spoilers for the whole show including classic who)

it's been pointed out before that there's a bit of nine in fifteen but in the last episode it's been proven how much: the doctor's reaction to alan's ending reminded me of nine's reaction to cassandra exploding lmao. what's creepy about fifteen tho is that where nine was more like nonchalant queen about it, fifteen straight up made it into a joke and then burst out laughing.

like, most doctors are frustrated, for example twelve "i'm tired of losing", or ten who's just the result of nine spending so much time with rose that he starts breaking the laws of time because he wants to control life and death, and when his attempts at giving the enemy a second chance unsurprisingly fail, he takes revenge out of spite. thirteen is no better. fourteen is a sap, and eleven tends to pretend he's cold about taking lives when actually, his childish demeanor and tendency to turn to kids and get along with them is just a disguise of what he wishes he was (cause adults don't blame kids when kids act like shit, it's always "he's just a kid", and eleven needs to deny his past and nature in order to survive).

but nine and fifteen? they're actually cold about it.

nine is just out of the time war, he's basically in soldier mode (and funnily enough, doctors, just like soldiers, tend to detach themselves from the people they save/kill cause it's easier to do the job then).

as for fifteen, he's possibly billions of years old, he went through what all the doctors went through: letting susan go, jamie and zoe forgetting him, the trial on gallifrey, the guilt of losing adric, saying goodbye to most companions, then the time war, being separated from rose (twice), the only other time lord left dying in his arms, seeing river die (and knowing he'd fall in love with her anyway when he sees her again), having to erase donna's memories of him, dying alone "because" of someone he loves, the guilt of what happened to amy, rory, clara and bill, the trap set by the time lords, losing the master again, the flux, donna almost dying in his arms again, then obviously losing her of old age after a few decades of peace and joy, then losing rogue, having to say goodbye to ruby (the doctor always hated being alone but i think now it's even worse) and losing sasha. and i'm just scraping the surface of all the horrors he went through.

so yes, the two of them are cold and detached, sometimes in a strange way.

and at the same time, fifteen cries every episode and nine is just so SO happy the only time he manages to save everyone.

disney might have ruined some aspects of the show for me (*cough* gen z talk every 5 seconds *cough* the too-smooth special effects) but for now, the doctor is still the doctor: ridiculous, cringe, excentric, tired, fantastic, brilliant, dumb af, a genius, and i hope he gets to keep being all that for many years to come
