what is the thing your oc likes the least about themselves?
how well does your OC do in school?
is your OC a dog or cat person?
how does your OC handle death of someone they know?
:3c
Mkay, gonna go with Ellara (from Legend of the Night Sky) for this one-
She does pretty well! Mostly A's, but has the occasional B.
Dog person!
She's learned how to handle it because of the death of her parents, so better than some, but I wouldn't say well.

Get to Know my OC Tag!
I was tagged by @doublegoblin for this! Thank you so much (:
I've done this, a long time ago, for Raelen - from my WIP, The Last Wrath. This time, I'll do this tag for Ahren Ellara - from my WIP, Tales of Wilted Flowers.
Ahren is Faellyn's stern but caring, cousin and adoptive brother (when their House - and their entire family legacy - fell they became the only family each other had to rely on, it had some effects on Ahren's psyche, making him incredibly paranoid)
(You see a tall, lanky young man with long, unruly silvery blond hair, walking towards you. His head is held high, proud, though he fidgets anxiously with his hands as he sits down in front of you. Posture immaculate, though the nervous fidgeting doesn't quite stop, he looks at you, wary and haughty at the same time.)
Are you named after anyone?
No, I do not think so. Though my father was rather sentimental, I don't think I was named after anyone - at least, not after anyone whom I know or whose name is on our family records. If I was named after anyone else though, there's just no way I could know - and currently, it's too late to ask, wouldn't you say?
When was the last time you cried?
Why do you ask?! (He blurts out, a bit louder than he'd intended, before sighing, though his eyes narrow, suspiciously) Oh for the love of Gods, fine...When those awful dreams started, a couple of weeks ago. I think - it's all rather blurry, really. (Leans forward, suddenly dangerously serious, showing a hidden dagger) No one else knows, and I am not above making sure it stays this way.
Do you use sarcasm?
The answer is yes, I think so. I usually don't do it extremely on purpose, it mostly comes out naturally - especially when I'm dealing with annoying company or unexpected situations. Some people think my remarks are quite funny, but I still don't know why.
Do you have kids?
If you count Faellyn... kinda? I mean, of course, I'm not her father, I'm her cousin, obviously, I'm not that much older than her - but I think I did raise her? I don't know if it really counts, as I was a teenager who didn't have many options and she was an insufferable kid (he chuckles), and later on we got a bodyguard. One could say we raised one another, but given the slight age difference and the assassins on our tracks, I think I did most of the work.
What’s the first thing you notice about people?
If they're lying to me, or trying to deceive me or use me in any way. Because most people are, especially when you've got royal blood in your veins and a bounty on your head. I also notice whether or not they're an immediate threat. If not, I mostly notice their quirks, whether they have a sense of humor, if they're assassins working for the King - you know, the normal stuff.
What’s your eye color?
Dark Greyish Blue, but it does seem to have a slight green hue. I like my eyes.
Scary or Happy Endings?
(With a mischievous smile, leans forward). Why not both? There's nothing wrong with the right amount of terror and fun!
Any special talents?
I've been trained in sword fighting and archery, and I would say I am pretty good at it. I also like to write poetry I never let anyone read and I can embroider/sew somewhat adequately.
Where were you born?
I was a child/ward of House Ellara, whose castles were hidden in the Far Reaches of Ravaryn, so I'm pretty sure I was born in one of the royal chambers of one of those castles. I don't quite remember which one though, it's been a while since I was there.
What are your hobbies?
Uh, I draw and write random stuff in my journal, sometimes? I guess poetry like I mentioned before, but I'm in no way that good at it. Those are the only things I could honestly think of - I've never quite had a routine or hobbies, that is, and certainly never quite had the time to actively pursue interests like that.
Do you have any pets?
No. Though, when I was a young kid, I distinctly remember that my elder brothers had a hunting hound named Sundew. She was quite adorable, but I never quite knew what came of her, after everything happened.
What sports do you play/have played?
I'm not a huge fan of sports, but I guess sword fighting and archery do count as some form of that, don't they? So yeah, I think that's an acceptable answer.
Favorite subject in school?
I was educated by the best tutors on the land, and my favorite subjects were philosophy and the art of politics. I was also quite good at chess and literature!
Dream job?
... Being a Lord again. Does that count? Oh, it doesn't matter. Does it though? I've done my fair share of working while traveling through these rather accursed lands, and for all I care, what I really want is to go back to what I was. But, honestly, as if that's ever going to happen.

i see what they were trying to do in chapters 2-4 where you get party members one by one like in book 1, but it just doesn't work. the recruitment in book 1 was a natural progression of getting party members because they were traveling across morella. recruiting them wasn't the end goal, the primary goal was to survive whatever the fuck was going on (duke erthax in the temple of ellara, corrupted mayor that tyril beheaded, pirates and grobtar attack) and recruiting them felt natural because of the given circumstances. it had just the right pacing and fun plot-relevant moments without sacrificing interesting and engaging events.
the way its done in book 2 doesn't work because it's not as engaging. compare tyril's fluria quest to him beheading the port parnassus mayor, or nia and mal's side quests in chapter 3 to going against duke erthax. imtura's is the most engaging of them all, but even her recruitment scene pales in comparison to her original introduction in book 1. and that's not even mentioning their lackluster reactions to mc being back after a year kidnapped. all in all i think it would've just been better if they kept the reunion scenes to one chapter or one and a half chapter max. it's been 3 weeks and we only just got out of whitetower. it's underwhelming and not advancing the plot.

Choices Book Tracker / MC Masterlist
Tumblr media
I decided to make a list to keep track of what books I've read and my MCs! (Because I keep forgetting half their names lol). Yes, this took ages to edit, but I had a lot of fun lol 😊
I have used pride flag icons in the edits, but there is a text version at the end too. Will likely update in chronological order of book release instead of alphabetical as new books come out.

The expanded world of Blades of Light and Shadow: Morella and beyond ⚔️🌿🏜️🧜🏻‍♀️🪄
According to the maps, tablets, and based on more information from book one of the series.
MORELLA
Riverbend: Small town residing humans.
Temple of Ellara: Sacred temple of Light.
Port Parnassus: Seaside city of trade.
Shimmering Isles: Islands with merpeople.
Flotilla: Floating capital city of orcs.
Deadwood: Dense destroyed forest.
Undermount: City-state residing elves.
Whitetower: Capital city of Morella.
Necropolis: The ruined city where the vhampyrs are said to be living in crypts.
Some believe the bloodsucking immortals to be cursed elves; others think they're not living at all, but ghosts made flesh. Given that no traveller has ever made it out of their city alive, perhaps we'll never know.
Red Desert: Where the birdmen of the north, known as the molepeople reside.
Dunbar Forest: Where the residents are said to worship the spirits of the trees.
Gold Coast: Where the residing fishermen are said to pray to the White Whale.
BEYOND MORELLA
Morella has mountains to its north, the deserts to its south, and the poison field to its east.
Vishanti: Mountain kingdom ruled by wooly men who slumber in ice for decades, and boast strength greater than strongest orcs.
Zaradun: Known as the wastelands where reside the dwarves, a race older than any in Morella. They practice arcane magic, and guard an unfathomable treasure.
Rysoth: The lush rainforests where giant lizards are said to roam about freely.
Avian Kingdom: The kingdom where the birdmen are said to rule the skies.
SHADOW REALM
Shadow Court Fortress: The castle where the Dreadlord and Shadow Court resided. It mirrors Whitetower of the Light Realm.

So you know how I had to go back and replay book 1 for some screenshoots.
Tumblr media
After seeing this, I really liked Mother of Grey and I remembered the visit to the temple of Ellara.
Tumblr media
Now, we know the majestic elven must be Nifara, and obviously the two lovers are Ittar and Bashki, so I thought that since Mother of Grey is not supposed to be worshipped, she was the third statue. But look I what I got
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
First of all, they are referring to it as he not as the Mother of Grey, and generally they are specific with either gender, or if not they go with they, so this winged monstrous warrior is a he, and do you know which else happen to be a he and also happen to know the old Gods? The Watcher

Her Legacy
[Mal Volari x Daenarya Blades 1 + Beyond] [Mal’s Orphanage] [Mal Volari x Daenarya Blades 2 AU]
Pairings: Mal Volari x Daenarya (F!MC) + OC children Book: Blades of Light and Shadow II, Chapter 2 Word Count: ~1,100 Rating: general (no warnings?) A/N: This is my HC for why Mal is smiling when we see him in Ch2.
Synopsis: She may be gone, but she could never be forgotten. She lives on in the stories he tells and the hope he inspires.
Tumblr media
Mal sat perched on the rooftop of the orphanage he had opened, a place he had come to call home these last couple of months. Before him were five eager faces, eyes wide, filled with wonder. These were the first of what he hoped would be many kids he'd rescued from the harsh streets of White Tower. He longed to find them better homes, but for now, he'd happily share this one with them.
The gibbous moon hung high in the indigo sky, casting a soft, silvery glow upon the small group. The gentle breeze danced on the fringes of the blankets he had set out for them to rest upon.
As he looked at the children, Mal couldn't help but smile. Each of them had a story, a past filled with struggles, and yet, here, they were finally safe. For possibly the first time in their lives, they were cared for, they didn't have to wonder where their next meal would come from, and they weren't at the mercy of begging or stealing to survive. They had a place to belong, and so did he.
"Alright, my little adventurers," Mal began, his voice tender and warm. His eyes twinkled with excitement as he leaned forward, ready to weave another enchanting tale. "Tonight, I'm going to tell you a very special story."
"More special than battling pirates?" Thalassa questioned impatiently. The young girl bounced in her spot in anticipation.
"More special and more important," Mal offered with a gentle nod.
"More important than beating the Shadow Court?" Lysander's eyes narrowed at Mal, not believing any story could be more exciting or important than that. After all, it was what he was most known for.
Mal's smile faltered as he nodded. "More important than that. Defeating the Shadow Court and the Dreadlord were important, but they almost didn't happen, or at least, I might have been there to help."
The children exchanged puzzled glances, their mouths falling open as they expressed their disbelief.
"But you're the hero of White Tower!" Ovisa exclaimed, pressing her fists to her hip incredulously.
"I am one of them, but I almost wasn't," he admitted.
"How come?" The glow of the moonlight illuminated Thalassa's eyes as she begged for answers.
"Every story has a beginning, and this one is my favorite of all," Mal leaned back, letting memories of how they met flood his senses. Her smile, her challenging gaze, her wit and wisdom—she was something special. If it wasn't for her, he wouldn't be the man before these children now. He drew in a deep breath of the cool night air and began weaving a tale of the night they met, the night his life changed for the better. "It all started in a small town called Riverbend."
"Riverbend," Ovisa's eyes widened. "That's where Daenarya's from."
"Indeed." His heart was heavy at the sound of her name, but he knew it was time to start the story from the best part.
The children gasped, their eyes shining with excitement as he wove a web of intrigue and excitement. He told them of Grenn and Constable Angus, who lost their lives to the minions of the Shadow Court, the treasures of the Temple of Ellara, the first shard, the Shadow Hound, and Duke Erthax. But most of all, he told of her bravery, of her resilience, and of her spirit that led them that night. She was a beacon of hope that made even the darkness tremble in her presence. She was something special. He would make sure she'd never be forgotten.
"Where is she now?" Ovisa questioned.
He opened his mouth, but there were no words. It was a question he always avoided. He shook his head, focusing on his breathing as he calmed himself. She wouldn't want him to live with the weight of his grief. He studied the faces of the curious children, all waiting for the answer. Mal had told many stories over the several weeks they'd been together, but he never explained what happened to her or any of the others. He had failed them all, but, he wouldn't fail these children now. He considered giving her a fairytale ending, telling them she's safe, living out her days in luxury, but they didn't need a fairytale. They needed hope. They needed something to believe in.
"She was taken," he admitted. His words were not much more than a whisper. The children drew closer, hanging on his every word.
"Where?"
"The Shadow Realm."
"Is she okay?"
"Is she coming back?"
"Can we go find her?"
"I don't know." His head hung slightly lower as their questions overwhelmed him. He took a moment before continuing. "But I do know this: I've never met anyone as strong, courageous, and amazing as her. If anyone can find their way back to the light, it's Daenarya. So we must have hope. We can't allow the shadows of the past to steal that from us. I understand how challenging it can be to hold onto hope when life has given you so little reason to, but I hope I can show you that there is still goodness in this world and that each of you has a chance to discover your own hope. My hope comes from her, and I'll share it with you until you find something of your own to put your hope in."
Ovisa was the first to speak up, her voice filled with determination. "We'll hope for her too, Mr. Mal." She rested her head on his shoulder as she sat next to him.
Lysander nodded vigorously. "And we'll make our own hope, just like you said."
Thalassa nodded her agreement. "Maybe we can find her. Maybe that's our adventure."
Mal's lips twitched up at their growing optimism. They were so young, and life had been so cruel to them, but through it all, they still had goodness in them. He wondered what he could have been had someone come along and saved him when he was their age. But as he had told them, there was no use dwelling in the past. Despite his trials, they had brought him to her, and that is something he wouldn't trade for anything.
As the children's eyelids grew heavy, silent yawns slipped from their lips. They exchanged soft, drowsy conversations about what the future might hold and what adventures awaited them. If Daenarya could save the realm, maybe one day they could too. Their story was just beginning.
Mal watched them closely, cherishing the moment for a few minutes longer before ushering them off to their beds. His lips curled into a smile that reached his eyes for the first time in a long time. He enjoyed seeing them like this, hoping for the possibility of what could be. They were proof that she was still there.
Tumblr media
The last paragraph is what I imagine we are seeing when we check in with Mal and he's smiling. He is just in awe of the hope and goodness still in these children despite the hardships they've faced.
Thalassa and Lysander are new to this AU, Ovisa is featured in the first Orphanage story I wrote "One More" which is basically another version of this concept (Mal telling stories on the rooftop, but Daenarya is there, so the tone is very different). I decided to carry over Ovisa because while she does exist in my original universe/orphanage, I never actually finished her origin story, so I thought maybe I could do that here? Or maybe I'll do it in my other universe. We'll see.
Rayden and Lydo are not part of this universe yet, but they will be. I couldn't have Mal save them with out Daenarya. And I couldn't not have them in this universe, those are Mal and Daenarya's sons and they will always find each other, even if it takes a little longer.

Heads Up Seven Up
I was tagged by @tabswrites for this one, here! Thanks for the tag!
Rules: post the last seven lines you wrote! Then tag others!
It's not exactly seven lines, I think, but here you go!
From Tales of Wilted Flowers -
“Out of all the bad ideas, my dear.” Xarian shakily called out [to Lorelai], not breaking eye contact with the beastly wolf currently a burning stick away from biting his neck off. Instead of standing by the snuffed-out fire, he’d moved forward. But that made him the only thing standing between a Faellyn petrified by fear and a ravenous shadow-hound. He scoffed, softly, at the situation they were in. “That has to be one of our worst.”

the witch part 10? i fucking love king Hal
King Hal is love, King Hal is life and holy fuck have I missed him!
The Witch
Tumblr media
Part 10
Warnings: blood & lots of it, intense situational events, lust
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8, Part 9
Hal’s eyes darted frantically between the open door and my waiting mouth while Aldous’ screams of pain echoed through the castle, as if he was torn between the choice to continue or to help his friend. His gaze fell back to me and stayed, eyes heated and filled with passion.
“Hal,” I said, not knowing the thoughts his mind held. He brought his face close once more and skated his lips across mine. There was something safe in Hal’s touch, something that felt a lot like home and distant memories swept away with time. I almost gave into the silkiness of his lips, but I couldn’t bring myself to kiss him again when sound of Aldous intensified. “Hal, I think he’s hurt.”
“Good,” Hal whispered, his tone amused and unaffected, his words breathy with lust and want. Hal’s mouth hung open with the need to continue kissing me, and if it weren’t for the gut wrenching screams, I would have laid my self out for him.
“Good? Hal, you cannot be serious.”
“He should hurt for how he speaks to you. Let him bleed a little, my Queen.” My insides melted at his words and it felt like my heart had taken up permanent residence in my stomach, but I couldn’t help but push him away. My hand went to his chest and Hal let out an almost childish whine. Hal’s body was solid and his hands gripped my dress covering my thighs. His jaw looked painfully tight, as if not continuing was killing him from the inside out. “I ache for you, Ellara. I have ached for you since I lost you. I won’t let a man as insignificant as Aldous keep me from claiming what’s mine.”
“You can claim me after, Henry.” I patted his shoulder and scooted back from him and slid off the table. “The one who loathes witches needs our help.”
Walking out of the dining hall, I was immediately overwhelmed by the scent of blood. If Hal could smell it, he didn’t make it obvious, but what was clear, even before laying eyes on Aldous, was that he was gravely injured. I walked faster if not from curiosity alone, causing Hal to have to quicken his pace to catch up. We descended the spiraling staircase that led to the main hall, the scent of blood became stronger with each Aldous’ screams. Hal’s look of annoyance quickly turned into that of worry as we neared the last step. There was so much blood. I slid in the thick, viscous fluid as I stepped on the landing, blood staining the white stain I wore.
“Wh-where is he?” Hal, stuttered, his face drained of all color. I looked around, finding, dark red foot prints rounding the corner.
“Come.” I grabbed Hal’s hand, not only because I needed to feel him in some way, but because I wasn’t sure if I was prepared to see what horrors we would behold as we followed the foot prints. “Aldous?” I called out, only to have my Hal’s fingers pressed lightly against my lips, shushing me.
“He may not be alone.” Hal pulled me behind his back, leading the way as we got closer. “I’ll let him die before I let anything happen to you.”
“I’ll be okay, He-”
“No. I’ll round the corner alone. I’ll only call you if it’s safe. You have to stay here, Ellara.”
I nodded as Hal stepped forward, blood squelching under his shoes. He placed a hand on the wall, preparing himself for the scene he was about to uncover, then turned abruptly to face me.
“Go,” I whispered shakily, though every part of me wanted him to stay. With his eyes glued to me, a small smile formed on his face. I shook my head. “What is it?”
“A moment. I’ve learned to take them when I can after what I’ve lost.” He stepped toward me trough the blood, sliding with each step. “And with you, I’ll take every moment this life has to offer, even if it means losing another.” I stood on a floor covered in crimson, confusion and curiosity roiling through me, but when Hal took my face in his hands and connected his lips to mine, I understood. I understood that he was scared. Scared of what he might find around the corner. Scared of losing me. He kissed me passionately, and when I kissed him back he melted into me, pressing me into his body. I fisted the front of his coat, gathering the soft furs into my hands pulling him even closer. Heavy breathing and soft moans fell from our mouths and into each others, only stopping when another blood curdling scream rippled from Aldous.
“Go,” I said again, even shakier than before. “Tell me when it’s safe.” Hal pressed his forehead against mine, a light sweat forming above his brow caused his skin to stick to mine. It took everything in me not to pull him close again, to savor the feeling of his body pressed against mine. To push away the dreadful feeling of losing him that slowly began to creep into my soul, and after the months of being in his castle, under his care and safety, being without him didn’t feel like something possible.
Hal turned, sloshing through the small river of blood that filled the main hall, this time not looking back as he rounded the corner. I heard Hal speaking softly and Aldous low grunts and moans of pain in response.
“Ellara,” Hal summoned, and I breathed a out a heavy sigh of relief that I had been holding in from the second he left me. I made my way around the corner, gasping as I took the sight in. Hal, kneeling over Aldous, covered form his waist down in bright red blood as he held up Aldous’ upper body. Blood poured from a thick jagged gash on his abdomen. This wasn’t a clean cut from a fight. This was the work of witch craft. My hands shook, knowing of only one witch village near the castle. The one that I grew up in. Rimemore.
“Ellara,” Hal’s voice shook. “Can you help him?”
I swallowed hard, in my village outside of Rimemore, before I was imprisoned for witchcraft, I was a self proclaimed herbist and healer. I could brew a concoction to heal any wound, a salve to calm any burn, an elixir to cure any illness, but I’d never dealt with a wound as severe as the one gouged on Aldous’ stomach.
“I can try.”
☽༓☾
It took hours and many trips to the royal garden for different herbs, to get Aldous’ bleeding to finally subside. Hal’s fingernails were embedded with a mixture of blood and soil while my entire body was covered in Aldous’ blood. I washed and packed his wound with a mixture of wormwood and hemlock. Hemlock to reduce the risk of fever and infection, wormwood for the pain. Hal was able to drag him into a bed in what the castle’s infirmary, where Circe would tend to him when she returned from where ever she had gone off to.
“He should sleep through the majority of the day,” I said, covering Aldous with a sheet. Hal stood in the threshold of the room in which Aldous recovered, his arms crossed and his face contorted in a mixture of anger and concern for his friend. “He’ll be okay, Hal.” I made my way to pass him, wanting desperately to wash myself and change out of my blood soaked clothes, but Hal’s fingers wrapped around my wrist and pulled me into him. His hand traveled up my back and into my hair, catching on the tangles where blood had dried and matted the locks together.
“In everything you do, you amaze me, Ellara.”
“It isn’t the best, but he should heal fine.”
Hal inhaled against my neck, breathing in my scent, in which could have only smelt like a mixture of me and blood. I attempt to move away, not waning Hal smell me in this state, but he only holds me tighter and closer to his body.
“I said, in everything you do, Ellara.” His face was intense in a look that heated me to the core. “All you have to do is breath and I’m on my knees for you, begging you for more.” There was blood on his face, but it didn’t ease my need or want for him. “Let me make love to you, my Queen. Let me show you the ways I can worship you,” he whispered.
I loosed a breath and his breathy words tickled my face. “N-not like this.”
A smirk pulled at his lips.
“Then I’ll bathe you and worship you all the while you beg for me.”
