// the process sigil — a compass, a contradiction, a map to home.
This is the sigil of Process Zine. A personal index card. A schematic. A lived philosophy.
At first glance, it’s simple: arrows, type, glyphs. But every part of this diagram holds something deeper — a system of opposites, a soft machine for navigating art, deafness, glitch, memory, and meaning.
At the centre: a dot. A node. A self. From this, four currents flow:
[ PARADOX ] — the source field. Every project, every word, every misheard caption begins here. Light vs dark. Deaf vs hearing. Analogue vs digital. Not problems to solve, but tensions to live inside.
[ ELSEWISE ] ← • → [ GLITCH LAB ] Home and work. Found and broken. A lived-in collection of objects and memory (Elsewise) meets the mechanised distortion of signal and sense (Glitch Lab). One curates decay. The other manufactures it.
[ PROCESS ZINE ] The publishing vessel. A zine, a community, a map of miscommunication. What flows in from paradox, Elsewise, and glitch emerges here as black and white pages, captioned images, stories, noise.
[ SIGNAL // NOISE ] The debut frequency. Edition zero. The first test transmission. A theme, an album, a glitchy breath in the space between signal and silence.
n# = analogue memory meets grid logic. d/p = Deaf Process / Digital Paradox. d.s.p = my initials — but also: Digital Signal Processing. // = the liminal divide. Two I’s in parallel. Signal and noise. Self and other. A caption caught mid-render.
Together, they form a quadrature of tension — a typographic mythology. A name. A concept. A framework built from static and story.
This is not a brand. It’s not even a diagram. It’s a sigil — drawn to remind myself what I’m doing, and why it matters.

Hi, recently I've been dipping my toes into cryptic crosswords (for now, just by playing dailycrypticle dot com), and learning all the tricks for wordplay indicators has been the biggest struggle. Is there a good list of common indicators somewhere you recommend? Also, are there easy (or easier) cryptic crosswords I could start with?
Kansas on edge after comparison with gratitude (6)
Hi! Not to toot my own horn, but I have a spreadsheet with most of the indicators I personally use when setting crosswords here:
Indicators

You're not guaranteed to find every indicator that gets used in online or newspaper crosswords, because I have personal better standards about what feels correct or reasonable, but there's still a lot there. :D
The daily puzzles on this site advertise themselves as pretty beginner-friendly, so you might have luck there.

K_S after THAN = THANKS <gratitude> (if only Tumblr had spoiler formatting!)
Yankee left with sheep belonging to US company near Maine? Don't mention it! (5,7)

🎙️ OLYMPUS DM-670 [elsewise field kit addition]
Just set up the Olympus DM-670 voice recorder as a more portable alternative to the Zoom H2n. It’ll be used for capturing movement-based recordings—runs, gym sessions, liminal walks—especially where bulk or sensitivity makes the Zoom impractical.
This is part of the recording setup for Out-of-Sync, an audiovisual piece exploring perceptual delay, desync, and the split between external stimuli and internal experience. (See also: signal loss, APD, misophonia, and the phantom drone in my left ear.)
But also—look at it. The typography. The glyphs. The symbols.
The manual alone is glitch collage gold—multilingual index typography, distorted schematics, almost asemic diagrams.
This isn’t just a tool. It’s future zine fodder. Elsewise tech. A black box of memory. ⌁

A misted river. A treeline’s ghost. But today I see lips. Half-formed, unreadable. Like the mouth of a stranger in a loud room. Like trying to lip read memory.
Every shape says something. But not everything said is heard. // relay

Questions for a fic. We're rooting for realism here, but I still wanna have a little bit :pinch_emoji: of silliness.
Can a Kaithe be summoned?
Beneath the armor, do yall think that Hex folks are their 'base' colors? Greys and blacks, etc. Places where their armor isn't.
Are things such as capture targets 'atomized' and copied over into data, then popped back out by recreating from that data, or tucked into a pocket dimension? Or something else?
Entrati was mentioned as entering into the 1999 timeloop, so does it exist without the drifter? Is it just the last day over and over, or is it the whole year?

Did one with my Main Interests of maths, linguistics and music:
What is a well-quasiorder?
What is the reflex in Modern Welsh of Latin ē as borrowed into Brythonic during the Roman Empire?
What is the standard fingering of the note A4 on a (German-system) bassoon?
and then one absolutely disjoint from my main interests:
Which chemical element has atomic number 106?
In which English village did the wife of Colonel Thomas Blood, who attempted to steal the crown jewels in 1671, grow up?
The card game ‘strip Jack naked’ has what more common name?
Thinking about this metric of like...
Come up with a set of three general-knowledge questions (by general knowledge I mean not stuff about your personal life; roughly the type of information you might find in a Wikipedia article) that you think uniquely narrow you down, in the sense that you feel confident you are the only person on earth who could answer all three questions correctly.
I can think of a few question sets like this for me, where I'm like 80% confident that I'm the only person who knows the answer to all three of them. If you have a little bit of obscure knowledge on a couple of topics, this is fairly easy to do I think.
Well, then the question is, how many meaningfully distinct sets of three questions like this do you have. Call that number your Obscurity Rank.
It's pretty cool to be of high Obscurity Rank, and one should strive for it.

So, uh, ~hypothetically~, if I were to quit actively pursuing new content for svsssartreblogs, would that, like... be okay?
When I made that one I just never imagined how popular svsss would get. Like 30 new arts a day. I spent 20 minutes everyday on just it. And I like svsss! A lot! But not enough for 2 hours a week of my life all by itself.

An ocean of incomprehensible waveforms. A topography of interference. Each line is a sound trying to be heard— —rising, fracturing, collapsing inward.
It feels like tinnitus drawn in landscape. Like trying to lipread a landslide. Everything overlapping, crashing ashore, disappearing into oblivion.
This isn’t just data distortion. It’s the shape of signal // noise.

🖤 The shape of sound when you can’t make it out. The moment signal becomes threat. Obscurity, overdrawn. Meaning obliterated.
Misophonia as mark-making. Identity buried beneath the scrawl. Language stammered into static. Presence turned ghost by noise.
This feels like: – tinnitus – trying to lip-read the wrong face – hearing everything but understanding nothing – the slow violence of incomprehension
This is Signal // Noise. This is what it feels like when the world speaks in a dialect just out of reach.

⟁ listening log 001: disintegration as method
[⟁ d.s.p | signal // noise | glitch lab | elsewise ]
Tumblr media
The loop began with a question. "Do you want a shortlist of vinyls that would best test this rig’s aesthetic?"
It was GPT who asked. And so the process continued.
I'm deep in the recursive groove now— sourcing Elsewisean tech for the glitch lab: a Dual 505-1 turntable from 1984 (reel-to-reel lineage in its tonearm), Wharfedale Denton walnut bookshelf speakers (perfectly imperfect), and a stack of converters, preamps, and possibility. Each one a relic of another signal age—material artefacts wired back into present time.
This is more than playback.
This is the process sigil manifest. This is delay as metaphor. This is auditory processing disorder rendered spatial: loops that stutter, degrade, recur. This is deafness in reverse—not silence, but the decay of clarity. Noise without signal, or signal eroding into itself.
Listening now to The Disintegration Loops by William Basinski —an album accidentally created when old reel-to-reel tape loops began to fall apart as they were digitised.
"I was trying to preserve memory, but I caught entropy instead."
In this moment, Basinski's method feels like prophecy. My own sound experiments in signal // noise aren’t built on high fidelity but on the ritual of malfunction. Tapes delay. Loops collapse. Meaning stutters.
The rotary hum of the turntable. The analogue whine of the Hi8 camcorder. Speaker cones vibrating into the lens.
All of it becomes raw material for a new kind of hearing— a visual one. A felt one. A glitch in time.
[PROCESS ZINE #00] will feature a dedicated spread on The Disintegration Loops—not just as a listening recommendation, but as a conceptual axis. A collapsed wave. A mirror.
If memory is a loop, maybe breaking it is the point.
