Thanks @frostedlemonwriter for tagging me✨
Softly tagging: @bluespringwrites @fishythewriter @elusiveink @angelltheninth @randomwriter23 @writingbrainrot
My heart stifled by the ghosts from decades past reaching out through the flowers on their graves. It was heartbreaking, yet soothing, being most alive amongst the dead. There had been times I had wished death for myself, but now that I had had a glimpse of it, that I had let it course my blood, I wasn’t sure I wanted to have anything to do with it.
I only wished to be stripped of everything—death, magic, and feelings. To be a lone shell—emotionless and unable to hurt, be it me or the others.
this is an unedited excerpt from my ghost x demon WIP~ hope you like it!
Quickly reminding you all that my sapphic novella THE ANATOMY OF DYING is currently FREE on Amazon for 2 more days.. if you’d like to get it 🙈🖤

fav songs tag!!
thx for the tag @ddbirb <33
p.s. if u have tagged me in something and i havent done it hmmmmm pretend u do not see it
Rules: 5 songs you actually listen to, and then tag 10 ppl
Dark Entries - Bauhaus (I'm in a post punk era and this album really hits the spot!! I know this is a pretty basic Bauhaus pick but it's so catchy and I've had it on repeat recently)
Giant Peach - Wolf Alice (fav band, one of my fav songs. the bridge. the buildup. this is from their first album which is near perfect and somehow they've only got better since. incredible live!)
Helter Skelter - Siouxsie and the Banshees (siouxsie <33333333333 this song SLAPS intro of the gods)
You Said Something - PJ Harvey (nostalgic and has super specific memories attatched)
Weekend in the Dust - David Byrne, St. Vincent (love both these people. psycho killer is also a big favorite song. would die to see annie clark live!!)
^this is an iconic playlist i've gifted you give it a listen >:D

i saw you read exit west and wanted to know your thoughts!! i picked up a gorgeous hardcover copy from a 2nd hand book shop in december and i tore through the book in two days because i absolutely loved it. i read the reluctant fundamentalist a few years earlier though for class and it just didnt connect with me ig, i didn't like it at all. so id love to know ur thoughts!!
Thank you for the ask! 🌻 I actually read it for bookclub, and it was interesting to talk about. While there was a lot of promise, I felt the story was a little underdeveloped. It had some heavy themes to tackle, and while there was a lot to admire, I didn’t love it, but it was engaging.
I actually read The Reluctant Fundamentalist too, but it’s been so many years ago, that I should reread it one of these days (because I don’t remember much about it). I still have my copy.

what are the next 3 books on your TBR? mine are all for school - Audre Lorde, Harriet Jacobs and Zora Neale Hurston - but I'm still excited to read them! do you like having a plan of what you want to read next or do you just choose randomly?
Hey :)
I plan on finishing rereading The Mime Order, reread The Song Rising and then finally read The Mask Falling, all by Samantha Shannon.
I usually choose randomly, but I do tend to prioritise anticipated releases :)

13. the last so-bad-it’s-good joke you heard
My boyfriend (his name is Will, I just like calling him my boyfriend) like to come up with produce related jokes to tell me while he’s at work - he works at a grocery store. So, I don’t remember one of the top of my head, but rest assured that it’s produce related.
15. the last tv episode that made you laugh out loud
Oh honey, I don’t watch television. Uh. I rewatched Chris Fleming’s comedy special and that’s pretty dope?

hey im starting a bujo this year too! its very rough and ready atm lmao n im probs only gonna do it until summer to see how i get on. what kind of spreads do you have in yours?
aah, that’s so cool! my college/life bujo rn is very basic rn lol:
Semester at a glance (since i’m using it for college i’m separating the year in two semesters)
Reading log
Month at a glance
Words tracker
Assignments tracker
Habits tracker
Weekly planners
and since i’m starting to make writing bujo, the ones im doing in it are:
Monthly goals (bite size goals are the best)
A page with the story’s basics
Another word tracker, more detailed than the one in my life bujo
A character index
A chapter tracker (just the chapter number/name telling what happens, kinda like a month overview)
Something that looks like a weekly spread, but instead of separating it into dailies and writing to do lists, i’ll do chapters and describe what happened/needs to happen
A braindump page
it’s not much but i never did bujo and i wanted to do only what i am 100% sure i’ll be using lol which ones do you have??

i just want to say that i read all of your "urban fantasy professionals" and theyre all amazing! theyre very imaginative in the way they combine modern life and fantasy. do you have any particular inspiration for them? are there any fantasy creatures you want to write about in oarticular in the future?
Thank you, that’s so kind of you! They’re one of my favourite things to write ^^
Inspiration comes from all kinds of places. Conversations with my sister, posts by other people, my hoard of books... I spend a lot of time daydreaming on public transport.
As for creatures... Shapeshifters are always my favourites, but I’d also love to write something about ghosts, banshees, barguests or something. A traditionally scary creature I could place in a cheerful scenario. (I am also fully intending to interrogate my doctor friend on hospital situations I could give the urban fantasy treatment, because I really think medicine could do with a bit of magic.)
Also, if I’m allowed a bit of self-promo, I’ve written quite a lot by now. And if you liked those you’ll probably like my other ficlets as well (they’re all under #laura drabbles) and my posts about #the lunar foundation, which is basically social work for werewolves :D

DO YOU THINK THAT TV SHOWS LIKE MYTHBUSTERS AND BRANIAC ARE RELIABLE SOURCES OF INFORMATION? I WORRY THAT SOME INFO WOULD BE EXAGGERATED OR OMITTED FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES...
MYTHBUSTERS IS USUALLY PRETTY RELIABLE FOR THE MEDIA LITERATE, IT’S NOT UNREASONABLE FOR “MYTHBUSTERS TESTED THAT AND IT’S NOT TRUE” TO BE SOMETHING OF AN ARGUMENT-ENDER. I DON’T KNOW WHAT BRAINIAC IS, EXCEPT A SUPERMAN VILLAIN, SO I CAN’T SPEAK TO ITS RELIABILITY, UNLESS YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT THE SUPERMAN VILLAIN, IN WHICH CASE I’D SAY TO USE YOUR JUDGEMENT: HE’S VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE BUT ALSO AN ASSHOLE.
AS ALWAYS, THOUGH, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS TRY TO CONFIRM INFORMATION WITH YOUR OWN INDEPENDENT RESEARCH AND EVALUATION (WITHIN THE LIMITS OF SAFETY, AS THE SHOW SAYS, YOU SHOULDN’T TRY THIS AT HOME) BEFORE YOU REGARD IT AS TRUTH, REGARDLESS OF WHERE YOU GET IT, WHETHER THAT’S A TV SHOW, A BOOK, OR A BLOG ONLINE.

1, 19, 40, 41?
1. do you have a crush on anyone?
not to be that guy but yes i am absolutely crushing mad hard on my fiance. @jostenwrites still gives me butterflies sometimes, and all of those warm and fuzzy feelings!
19.  snow, rain, or sun?
aw man, it really depends. i love the rain if i am staying home for the day. if i have to leave the house though i’d rather it be sunny. snow is great! but only for like three days out of the year, which is so few days in the long run.
40. coffee, hot chocolate, or tea?
again, they all have their place. but more often than not, hot chocolate! tea is for when i’m feeling sick, coffee is for when i’m getting tired, but hot cocoa is for all the time!
41. favorite soda?
not a big soda personally honestly! i like diet pepsi though- it helps when i get nauseous or motion sick. diet mountain dew is also pretty good.
thanks for the asks @elusiveink!!
