STAYING ALIVE MASTERPOST, FROM A BROKE TEEN WITH ADHD

here you go. some down to earth tips on how to not die metally nor physically.

tired of those "drink three liters of water everyday uwu" and "wake up at 5 am" and "buy a bath bomb and a fec mask and some other things you don't have the money for" shit? i'm here for ya.

1. NOT DYING

eat at least three meals a day, one of which m u s t be warm and above 300 kcal (it can be istant ramen with an egg added if you have to)

you technically should shower everyday, but we know how it is. A change of clothes is sometimes enough.

DRY SHAMPOO AND BABY WIPES!!!

keep bottles with water everywhere. On your desk, near that spot on the floor you always end up sitting on, near your bed, basically whenever you know you spend a lot of time. No need to get up and go to the kitchen will help. Obviously change the water in the bottles as often as you can.

Get some form of physical activity. It doesn't have to be much, you can for example replace scrolling on tiktok by walking around your room and scrolling on tiktok! Brilliant, isn't it? Obviously, running or doing those 10 minutes workouts from youtube is better, but you are still getting like an hour of walking.

Buy blankets. Steal blankets. Summon blankets from other dimensions. Just make sure you have a lot of warm, soft blankets in your house. You will thank me when you won't have the anergy to wash your sheets (just take them off and throw some blankets on your bed), or when the power goes out.

If you have pets, ALWAYS keep spare food that'll last for a week for them.

things to always have in the kitchen: milk, eggs, flour, rice, pasta, yeast, cheese, oil, a leafy vegetable, onions, tomatoes, apples, patatoes, some flavourful sauce, sugar, salt, spices and an emergency chocolate bar. You can make a lot of food with those. Just make sure you won't eat the chocolate too fast.

Have a lot of spare batteries. A lot.

Get urself a flashlight, a lighter, and a pocket knife.

Remember the apples? eat one a day. if you don't like apples or you can't eat them for any other reason, you can take a kiwi, banana, orange, basically something that will give you vitamins and non processed sugar.

do the dishes before your sink starts developing it's own ecosystem

drugs from that one guy around the corner = very bad time

2. NOT DYING INSIDE

Open the damn window.

Don't watch so many commentary videos. You are probably not even checking the sources, so you can easily make unjust judgement, and like. did you even hear of half of those people before?

make a discord server just for yourself. get into the habit of writing little things that happened to you there. rant about the fanfics you read. or the movies. vent there if you don't have anyone you can vent to. write your ideas there, write e v e r y t h i n g. make a section for passwords, for quick ideas, for your to do lists. you won't lose it as you do with sticky notes or notebooks. there is no risk anyone will see it. oh, and when you'll have a strong impulse to tell emily that you hate her? write that message in your private server and list all ur arguments. look at tat the next day and decide if you really mean that.

life sucks. come to peace with it.

cuddle ur pets if you have them

1 hour a day without a lot of sensory input. if you have to, reduce to half an hour.

if you find yourself scrolling endlessly through social media, make sure it's pintrest (just don't compare urself to the people here; if you have issues with that, tumblr may be better)

delete. twitter. from. your. phone.

influencers are lying to you; maybe not even intentionally. remember when you were watching that cute-aesthetic-productive morning routine, and you were wondering why your life isn't that pretty? why your room is a mess? why you cannot for the life of god be aesthetic 24/7? its the filter. don't worry about it, their lifes arent that nice either.

realize there's actually nothing stopping you from screaming as loud as you can right now. like there is no physical barrier. think about it. realize there's no actual physical barierr to many other things.

your body is your body. you can decide how it looks like; just remember it's in your greatest interest to keep it healthy.

3. BEING A LITTLE BETTER THAN JUST ALIVE

If you wear make up, take it off before you go to sleep.

moisturize your body; everything is better when your skin doesn't feel dry

have a one brand of cosmetics that you love and buy things mainly from it. they often have sets of products that complete each other. i like ziaja. it's a polish brand, it's surprisingly cheap and has nice quality

cleanser, moisturizer, face mist

of you can, change your sheets once every two weeks

do the dishes before your sink starts developing it's own ecosystem

do a deep house clean once a month (don't beat yourself up when you don't tho)

keep your workspace organized (it doesn't have to look organized to other people, remember)

sunscreen

cook your own food

keep a calendar

no money for scented candles? got ya. make a simmer pot: throw some apple peel, a couple of cinnamon sticks and whatever spices that smell good you have into a pot, add some water and simmer. boom. your house smells good, and you haven't spend 20 dollars.

If you really like candles, buy scented wax melts. it's cheaper.

Buy urself scented mists. they're pretty cheap and will make you feel A LOT better.

keep your clothes clean. if you aren't sure if that shirt thats on your chair is dirty or not, throw it in the washing mashine anyway. better be sure.

if you can, make your bed right when you get up

wear clothes that make you feel good. put some effort into your outfits. really.

4. OTHER PEOPLE

be nice to essential workers.

if you have money, give tips.

remember, you do not owe anyone love; it is not something you can force. even if they saved your life. even when they helped you in your darkest time. if you don't love them, you don't.

you don't have to be in a romantic relationship to be happy.

if you want to, date! date everyone! date girls, date boys, date nonbinary people! date people completly different than you, date people from different countries, date them!!! just make sure they're kind and won't kill you. even if you don't end up in a relationship, you can learn a lot.

don't be afraid to piss off people that deserve it

5. NOT FAILING SCHOOL

do not let your studying be just reading the same partagraph over and over again. it won't work. believe me.

try to make yourself intrestet in whatever you are studying (watch veritasium, listen to podcasts about weird history facts)

notes are for you and you only; don't worry about them looking pretty. doodle on margins, make weird metaphors, squeeze in as much info as you can.

when you're studying, listen to music without words/in a language you don't understand.

chew gum while you study

get the forest app, get attached to the trees, focus.

don't feel guilty for taking breaks

grades aren't everything, but they are important.

eat something in school

don't just use the cheapest pens. invest a couple dollars in something that will make writing enjoyable and smooth

those study with me videos? they're great

if you like to argue with the teachers, take care of your grades becouse. they may not like you afterwards.

be nice to your classmates and help them with homework. if you don't do your homework they'll help you

executive dysfunction won't let you study? been there. sometimes it's better to wake up ealier tommorow and do that homework then.

don't feel guilty for failing a test

So Hotch called in sick one day which is mad weird cuz he could have the worst headache and he’d just gumble his way through a full productive work day.

But today he called in sick so like the entire team was worried.

Derek decided go check in on him just to make sure everything’s good.

Of course he has a key so he just lets himself in and calls out for Hotch.

When he gets no response, he makes his way to Hotch’s room and he’s just laying sideways, eyes super red, but they’re open and he’s just staring out into an abyss.

Dereks like “hey man, you ok? The team’s all worried” it takes like a full minute for Hotch to turn and face him properly and his face is also very red and he just looks absolutely miserable.

Ofc he doesn’t admit it so he’s just like “I’m fine >:(”

He’s like “you said you had a mild headache? You can barely move, man!”

He gets all worried and shit and Hotch tries to pretend to be fine because he doesn’t want to look weak in front of his crush coworker.

He sits next to Hotch and he’s like “you didn’t have to do that >:(”

But Morgan isnt having any of that so he just makes sure Hotch eats all his soup.

He puts on Hotch’s glasses for him so he can see better but the Hotch man is starting to get sleepy like half way so Derek goes to put the soup in the kitchen and comes back to Hotch already asleep with his glasses on the nightstand.

He gives a kiss to his forehead and straightens up his blankets and whispers “goodnight Aaron!” Hotch (who is actually still awake) absolutely m e l t s but it’s fine cuz his face is already red so you can’t really see the ginormous blush on his face.

A couple hours later Hotch wakes up with violent coughs and Derek is sitting in a chair right next to him.

When he calms down Derek gets up and is like “ok, were going to the hospital!”

“I’m fiiiiine! >>>:(((”

“NO YOURE NOT!! IM TAKING YOU TO THE HOSPITAL AND YOU DONT GET A SAY!”

Hotch is grumpy the whole way there and he doesn’t say anything except for occasionally mumbling “this is completely unnecessary >:(” and “you’re just wasting time and money, this is pointless”

Turns out he was right because it was just a bad cold and the doctor told him to stay home for at least 2 weeks.

Derek stays with him and takes care of him the whole time.

He sleeps on the couch, but sometimes Hotch will get cold (even with a shit ton of blankets) so Derek cuddles him and ends up getting sick too.

So they stay at Hotch’s for like a whole month because Hotch feels the need to repay the favor so he stays with him and takes care of him.

All in the while holding back the urge to just k i s s him like 378282 times a day.

But it’s all good, they get through it, and on their first day back to work they got used to being extremely close so the team assumes they’re dating and they have to keep awkwardly be like “oh no, were not dating wErE jUsT fRiEnDs!1!1!1!”

Penelope teases Derek relentlessly because she knows he’s like him ever since he joined the team.

At the end of the day they go back to Hotch’s cuz Derek has to get his stuff and all.

But once they get inside Hotch is like “hey... do you want to stay? Just for tonight...”

And Derek absolutely melts because Hotch sounds so adorably insecure so he nods and makes dinner for them and after dinner they’re watching a movie and sitting incredibly close and Hotch goes “Derek, I appreciate all you did for me... I really hope you know that...”

Between the team the photograph must’ve been analysed a few thousand times. Each member kept requesting to look at it, picking it up and studying it under various light sources across the BAU. You had only looked at it the once. That was enough. The truth was that they weren’t going to find what they were looking for from the photo. It was just you taking off your microphone after the press conference. So it was highly likely that the unsub had been there, watching. JJ was making multiple phone calls to try and find the details of everyone who had signed up to be there. The truth was more harrowing. You knew that a mere 30 seconds after that picture was taken, Spencer had come over and given you a hug. A moment that you believed at the time to be private. But he had seen it. He had seen your Spencer. And he had taken him.

It was well into the night before any of you started to leave. Everyone had been running around, making phone calls, printing things off, going through case files. But you had just been sat at Spencer’s desk, curled up in his chair. You desperately were trying to think about what you could do. It was Emily who startled you out of your dream state.

“Hey, y/n, come crash with me tonight, okay? You need to try and get some sleep.”

You wanted to protest but it was no use. “Yeah, sure thing Em. Can we stop over at mine and grab a couple of things first?”

She looked a little hesitant at first. “Um, sure. But only quickly.”

From that moment on you acted without thought. It was as if a robot had taken over your body, moving your legs, walking you to the car. You couldn’t think about anything as you did it.

“Are you sure you don’t want me to get your things for you?” Emily’s voice made you jump. You hadn’t registered the entire car ride, and suddenly you were outside your apartment.

“No, but maybe come with me?” She nodded at the suggestion. You knew as soon as you walked in you were going to be wrapped up in all things him, and you weren’t sure if you could handle all the emotion.

Emily took your key from you and unlocked the door. She switched on the hall light and stepped into the apartment first, cautiously. You realised this wasn’t the first time Emily had walked into a home feeling unsettled, apprehensive. She knew just what it was like to come home and know that it wasn’t the way you left it. “I’m going to grab some of Reid’s case files to have a look at. You get what you need, take your time.”

“Thank you, Emily,” you tried to smile but your face couldn’t do it. You were so lucky to have such a wonderful friend, and one day you’d be able to show her just how much it meant to you. But not today.

You walked around uncertain, not sure what to look for. The sensible part of you was saying go pack a bag, get your things, and leave. You lingered in the living room for a few minutes, taking in all the things that reminded you of him. You saw the answering machine was flashing red. Was it really a good idea to check the message? It was probably something mundane, a cold caller. But there was a small possibility that it was him. Maybe an explanation? Your finger edged tentatively over the button. It took a few seconds before you pressed down and waited to hear what was coming next.

You’ve reached the home of Agent Y/F/N and Dr Spencer Reid, an all too familiar voice said, we can’t come to the phone right now because we’re probably fighting crime or playing chess. Leave a message after the beep!

What followed next was not what you expected. It was an almost silent message, but you could just about make out someone breathing. Some long, drawn out breathing. It lasted for about ten seconds and then the message cut out. Before you could call out a voice made you jump.

“When was that left?” Emily asked, suddenly behind you.

You squinted at the display on the machine. “This afternoon.”

“I’m going to forward this over to Garcia and see what she can get from it, you go and get the rest of your things.”

You nodded and walked into the bathroom. It was ridiculous to say that you could recognise Spencer’s breathing, but you were certain that wasn’t him on the tape. Which made it all the more unsettling as to who it actually was. Feeling tightness in your chest, you rushed over to the sink and turned on the cool water. You cupped your hands under the stream and splashed your face a few times, until the tight feeling went away. Get it together, y/n. You must do this. You need to focus.

After a few deep breaths you turned off the tap. You reached over to grab a towel from the radiator to dry your face when you saw a book lying on the bathroom floor. You crouched down to pick it up and admired it in your hands. The pages were all frayed and torn. It had been laid next to the radiator to dry after a night a few weeks ago.

“Hey! Y/N be careful, this is a first edition. I can’t take it back to the library covered in soap!”

“Listen Reid, you’re the one who decided to read during bath night. I can’t be liable for the damage that incurs.”

“Okay, fair point. But I thought you liked it when I read to you in Latin while you washed your hair? Weren’t you the one that said you wanted to learn a new language?”

“Yes Spence, a new language. A usable one. One that people still speak!”

“Statistically there are millions of people who can still read Latin. While it appears to be a dead language there is actually a large percentage of scholars and academics who use Latin in a variety of contexts… You always said you were interested in philosophy…”

“Yeah yeah, save me the lecture Dr Reid. You have until the bubbles run out to keep reading or else this book is going straight in the water…”

You were jolted out of your daydream by a knock on the door. “Y/N?” A concerned voice spoke up. “Are you okay in there?”

You quickly set the book back down and hurriedly grabbed your toothbrush and a hair tie. “Yeah Em, I’m coming now.” You made your way into the bedroom and grabbed a duffle bag. There was no thought to what you were packing, just random items that hopefully would make an outfit for the next day. You glanced over at Spencer’s pillow, his perfectly folded pyjamas, and decided to pack those as well.

It was truly painful to leave, but you knew it was for the best. By the time you made it to Emily’s it felt like it was almost morning. She poured you a large glass of wine and excused herself to go to bed, promising first that if you needed anything during the night to give her a call. You thanked her again and settled down on her sofa, wearing the buttoned-up pyjamas you’d taken from Spencer’s pillow. The glass of wine went down far too quickly, and you refilled it twice. Sleep was an impossibility at this point. You could already see morning light peaking through the gap in the curtains. That meant it wasn’t too long before you could go back to work and try and figure out what was next.

The truth was you already knew what you had to do. You were going to make another press conference, permission granted or not, and try and make yourself as appealing as possible. You were going to try and convince the career killer that the story would be far better if he took you as well as Reid. Imagine the headlines – two dead FBI agents, who were also in love! Caught in the crosshairs of the career killer! The best and most famous serial killer in the whole world! The papers would go wild for it. You knew deep down that the killer would, too. But it wasn’t going to play out that way. You were going to trade yourself for Spencer. Convince the killer it was you he really wanted. Tell him you’d give him whatever he wanted, help him put on a show. You’d let him kill you live on TV. You knew that you would do anything to get Spencer back.

You rehearsed your little inner monologue a few times. When you felt like you’d perfected it, you decided to try and think about something else for a few minutes. You remembered you’d taken the crossword puzzle book from Spencer’s desk. That would make a good distraction if he hadn’t finished them all already. You fumbled through the contents of your bag until you found it, along with a mechanical pencil. One of the corners had been turned over so you flicked the book open to that page.

Spencer had already started the crossword but hadn’t completed it. That confused you a little. It was very unlike him to leave a puzzle unfinished. You started to scan your eyes over the clues he had already filled in.

A six letter word for a season of the year synonymous with fall. Autumn. Easy. You glanced over to where Spencer had filled in the word. A-U-T-U-N-N. How had he managed to make that mistake? In all the years you knew him you hadn’t once seen a spelling error. You shrugged.

Next clue: Lion’s cry, four letters. Roar. Same again, you looked at where he’d filled it in. R-O-O-R. This couldn’t be a coincidence. You circled the incorrect letter, and the ‘n’ in autumn, and went back to the next clue.

A seven letter word for a pilot. Aviator. Spencer had filled in A-V-I-A-T-U-R. You circled the U.

Clearly reasoned, seven letters. Logical. Same spelling mistakes. L-O-J-I-C-A-L. That added a J.

Card game, five letters. Poker. P-O-K-A-R. A.

Woollen items, eight letters. Knitwear. K-N-T-T-W-E-A-R. T.

Organ of sight, 3 letters. Eye. E-Y-I. You circled and noted the I.

Desire to travel, ten letters. You had to look across at what Spencer had already written for this one. Wanderlust. But he’d spelt it W-A-N-D-E-L-R-U-S-T. Confused, you circled and noted the l and the R as they were both wrong.

He had only filled in one more clue. Calm-natured. Placid. But instead of a C, he’d written S. That left you with ten letters. You scrawled them down at the bottom of the page. N, O, U, J, A, T, I, L, R, S

N O U J A T I L R S.

What on Earth did that mean? You looked at it a few times through slightly blurry wine eyes. Why had he done this? You couldn’t quite understand what was going on. But there was something in you, a hunch, that he’d left this for you on purpose. Who else would piffle through his desk and take out a crossword book? There had to be some meaning to it. After exhausting yourself with possibilities, the tiredness took over, and you eventually fell asleep. You dreamt of those ten letters swirling around your head.

1. sam: like u said a given :^) i think sam is dumb and a lot of fun!! i love super happy/caring guys bc i am super bad w/ second guessing myself so!! a guy thats really straight forward and shows how they feel when they feel it is my dream! also the pop punk aesthetic <3 i like that he’s the direct opposite of me!! why would i want to date a dark/brooding guy when im already like that?? i want someone super happy thats gonna radiate that!!

2. haley: haley’s an angel late game! and she’s pretty! im pretty mean myself so i was never driven away from her but was more like damn we’d be powerful together and then she ended up doing a 180 personality wise and i love her even more!! shes so sweet and so helpful during marriage too love her

3. emily: ok emily is like a dream best friend for me!! i love how creative she is and we have a lot of similar interests. she seems like a good mix of the mom girl at a club taking care of all the drunk girls, the girl that u can easily go up to and talk to if u need a partner in class, and the cool older sister. love love love her

4. harvey: sweetheart... angel man. so shy and sweet!! i dont like mean men so him being outright kind and such a good guy is so heartwarming for me!! i feel like he would be respectful at all times and is not a man i’d need to worry about *intentionally* wronging me with intent to hurt <3 

5. elliott: i did theatre in high school and am a creative writing minor. i more wish i was him bc if i could live by the sea and write all day... yes. and speak like someone that would’ve gotten beaten up by a shakespeare character? yes. once again, a man that wouldn’t be mean to me & would make me feel safe

6. maru: also someone i would love as a friend! she’s so kind and always so welcoming my social anxiety would be nonexistent around her <3 i know she’d tell someone my order was wrong for me despite her also being nonconfrontational. seems like a sleepover queen and someone i could go to for anything without being judged love her to death 

7. penny: i also do love penny!! i think she’s def one of the better people in the game what with her aspirations and motivations but!! we r both too shy but i do love reading so i think we would get along there!! she’s v sweet but also her trope is not my fave!! i see a lot of similarities within us 

8. abigail: i do like abigail but i do not see the hype imo. she’s def got more character to her than some of the other women (once again, mr. ape) but she’s just not my type of girl !! i think we’re.... too alike probably. same thing w/ my thing w/ himboish guys.. i try not to surround myself w/ ppl that remind me of myself very often. still lov her tho i promise

10. alex: oh boy hot stupid boy but misogynistic comments. granted! high hearts he’s much better but its the getting past that. i like his character at high hearts (also its just funny to headcanon him reacting to other characters) but.. alex i lov u but jesus christ. wouldn’t feel safe around him early game but later on i kno he’d beat up another guy for me <3

MORGABY

A: Attractive (What do they find attractive about the other?)

Barnaby finds Morgana’s patience and compassion extremely compelling, the way she listens to you without ever interrupt you, taking in account everything you say, and always gives you good advice. The way she loves to learn and teach, she will listen and talk about everything. He also loves her laugh. Physically he finds her really pretty, but the thing he likes the most is that how she’s apparently always blushing.

Morgana loves the way she can really feel like a teenager without responsibilities with him, do things that are simply fun, that he’s the funniest person she knows. But also, that he yearns to improve, he wants to be better and really work for it. Physically she can’t help herself; she likes how strong he is.

Both love feeling like they really understand each other.

B: Baby (Do they want a family? Why/Why not?)

They were extremely excited about the prospect of having a big (probably beautiful given their genes) family. But that idea quickly got shut down after having their first and only child after some horrible things happened during the war Morgana was unable to have more children. They thought it was probably for the best, since the first pregnancy was very traumatic and Morgana was busy after the war, but it was one of the saddest things that happened during their adulthood.

C: Cuddle (How do they cuddle?)

Morgana is really private, to the point that no one saw them kiss on the lips until their wedding, but everyone notices they get attracted to one another like magnets whenever they’re in the same room together, they stand as close as possible to each other and maybe Morgana holds his arm. If Morgana is incredibly stressed maybe they would see Barnaby give her a little shoulder massage, or the other way around.

D: Dates (What are dates with them?)

They usually go to the farmers market or going antique shopping, because they’re like a boring old married couple, but they have fun. They just enjoy each other’s company, going on walks together, going to the zoo…no matter how soft and boring it sounds, they just like it. They also go to all the fairs that they can so Barnaby can win her as much plushies as humanly possible.

Damien told Barnaby he was obviously in love with Morgana, since he always talked about her with such care and love. He was very confused until he heard Morgana tell two judgemental Ravenclaws (that asked her what did she like of being friends with Barnaby if she couldn’t engage intellectually) that they’ve obviously never talked with Barnaby about something he was genuinely interested in, and she didn’t partake of the kind of intellectual dishonesty of believing you’re superior to others.

Morgana isn’t actually sure when it happened, it was slow, gentle and imperceptible, she just one day knew she would do anything if it meant Barnaby could be happy. She just knew at the begginig of Year 4 and she’s been smitten ever since.

G: Gentle (Are they gentle? If so, how?)

Very much so. It’s more noticeable with the affectionate way they touch and stroke each other’s faces. But Morgana also softly grips on his clothes or take his arm, so she won’t lose him. Barnaby is more forward he kisses her face a lot and puts their foreheads together so they can look into each other’s eyes.

H: Hands (How do they like to hold hands?)

Intertwining their fingers.

Morgana thought he was really funny, and Barnaby though she was really sweet.

No.

Morgana initiated the first Kiss because Barnaby gave her all the time, she needed to overcome her shyness a little. Their kisses are…private.

Kissing for the first time, because they tried for six months and they had a really deep and meaningful conversation before it happened.

They understand each other very well, so mostly they hug tightly and talk openly about their problems, try to give each other good advice. Morgana also brings him to see puffskins, nifflers…cute things that would make Barnaby happy. And Barnaby makes her tea and sweets.

Whatever comes to mind, which leads to the weirdest topics sometimes.

A good cup of tea and a book for Morgana, petting various cute creatures for Barnaby.

Barnaby likes to show off his muscles and how many things he can win for Morgana on fairs, he’s really proud of how strong he is. Morgana likes to show of her knowledge of various topics and her ingenuity to think of spells (and sometimes cute dresses), she’s really proud of her planning skills.

W: Wedding (When, how, where do they propose?)

Barnaby planned (with the help of Andre and Mercy, avid Morgaby shippers) a really cute proposal where he would take her to the place where they had their first date and give the staff a cup of tea where ‘Will you marry me’ was written at the bottom. Anyway, everything went wrong, he even made it sound like he was breaking up with her and forgot the ring.

So when his intentions were clear enough, Morgana proposed instead.

They married in 1999 in their own house, their wedding was garden/tea/antique themed.

Last Movie: I haven’t watched many films this year but my flatmate and i are planning on watching the talented mr ripley this evening so let’s go with that. I’ve only seen it once before and can remember that it differs from the book but can’t remember how so i’m looking forward to it.

Currently Reading:  I am prone to having multiple books on the go at once and i also read really quickly so don’t really ever have one focused book that i read over days/weeks. Today i started plain bad heriones by emily m danforth which is a queer gothic novel set across 1902 and present day, and so far it is a ROMP and i’m really enjoying it. Other books i have on the go are luster by raven leilani which is so beautifully written, the red scrolls of magic by cassie clare/wesley chu which is entirely what you expect it to be (and that is not a complaint!) and Fatal Passage: The Story of John Rae by Ken McGoogan which I wouldn’t say is as gripping as Michael Palin’s Erebus book but is still very interesting! John Rae was done so dirty, man. 

Currently Watching: I spent yesterday catching up on UK Drag Race which is v highly enjoyable if Drag Race is your bag. Am also really enjoying Wandavision as a weekly watch, i think it is doing very clever things with form and storytelling and is actually delving into grief and trauma in a way that the mcu has not done so before. Am also currently trekking though the crown because unfortunately having a thing for james fitzjames means that i now have a thing for tobias menzies, apparently.. even more unfortunately when he is playing prince philip. Is it good? not sure. Am I going to carry on watching? absolutely. 

Currently Craving: Honestly i am craving having my motivation back, work is very busy at the moment and yet i just do. not. care. which is making it very difficult stay on top of things. Feel like this is a long term pandemic problem though so not likely to go away anytime soon...

------------------------------------------------------------------- It was late-night afternoon at the Borrow. The Weasley family was gathered around included Charlie and Y/N which they had just arrived from Romania for the Christmas Holidays.

Bill is looking kind of sad, Y/N noticed. He was at his second glass of whisky already. Whenever they were just the two of them, he was the casual, cool and fun Bill she had met years ago at Hogwarts. But when the family was around, he looked kind of distant, cold. She questioned if there was any problem in his relationships with Fleur, but... Fleur would tell her.

“I’m going to see what’s wrong with your brother” Y/N whispered at her husband’s ear, leaving a small kiss on his neck.

Charlie smiled and nodded as he told her to be right back because he wanted her near him.  After all these years, and he still looked at her with so much love in his eyes.

Y/N got up and went over to the sofa Bill was sitting.

“Hey love, is something wrong? You look sadder than usual when we gather all together. You have the Christmas blues again?”

Bill didn’t answer directly. His mind was off, thinking about other things.

6 years ago, at Charlie’s and Y/N wedding. She had called him in her chambers to talk to him, because she was a nervous mess and he was the only one who knew what exactly to say to calm her. When he walked through the door he was stunned.

“She’s beautiful huh?” Rowan mentioned greeting him and leaving the room

“She’s stunning” Bill murmured to himself.

“Oh my god Bill thank god you are here” Y/N breathed and rushed over to hug him.

“I know it’s supposed to be the happiest day of my life, but I’m worried, and anxious. Is it the right thing to do? I mean I love Charlie, I really do, with all my heart. But what if we are too young? We have so much more to experience. Last year we were at Hogwarts!” She was bubbled nonstop causing Bill to laugh. He sat there for a long time trying to reassure and comfort her, and once again he succeed.

She smiled kindly and thanked him, taking him again in another tight hug. But this hug felt different she thought. Bills hands was lower at her back as usual and she held her like he didn’t want to let her go. She smiled as she thought that he was nervous as well, for his little brother and her- his best friend all those years.

“You know... when I was thinking about you being a Weasley I didn’t think it would be like that”

Y/N was confused. “W-what do you mean?  Is something wrong with my hair? My face? What is it!”

He smiled with melancholy in his eyes. She was completely oblivious to his true feelings.

“No... nothing like that! You look perfect. I just always fantasized about throwing a huge event for you at the Borrow to make you an official member of our family, without necessary Charlie involved” he lied jokingly.

He placed a small kiss on her chick letting her out of his grip and walking out of the room. He was going to the alter, to see the woman he loved secretly all these years, to get married to his brother, and not him.

Some months after the wedding, in a hung out with Rowan and Barbary at the Leaky Cauldron, he heard for the first time in his life, that Y/N had a huge crush on him -even love stated Rowan, in her first years at Hogwarts. But all these feelings was buried deep down when Bill asked her to talk to Emily Tyler for him. She was completely heartbroken and from this day on she swore to herself that the only thing Bill was and could ever be was her best friend and the brother she missed.

Bill was shocked when he heard this. His teenage self was completely oblivious about his best friends’ feelings. He cursed himself for being too blind to see and noticed his own towards her when it was too late. She was at her 5 year and he at his last. He couldn’t do something. Firstly cause he was afraid she wouldn’t want him back, secondly cause he was going to graduate and it could be selfish of his side to have a long distance relationship and not be there for her when she had a lot going on in her life and needed him near him, and last but not least, he was aware of the crush Charlie had on Y/N since his first year. So, he decided to wait till she graduates and come to Egypt as they have promised, for their new Curse Breaking adventures together. Then... he would confess his feelings and he was sure that one day he would marry her. He would do anything to be with her.

But the years past, Y/N graduate, and when she went to Egypt she was still in a relationship with Charlie, which they had started at the beginning of their 6th year at Hogwarts. When he wasn’t there. And months later.. they were going to marry each other. He wouldn’t believe it... he tried to draw these feelings, but they just wouldn’t go away. She was his brother’s girlfriend for god’s sake!

But if he knew.... if he knew sooner that she had feelings for him in the past, and she looked past them caring only for their friendship, because she thought that he didn’t feel the same, then things would be different now. She would be with him. She would sleep with him every night. She would kiss him every morning. She would sit next to him, at the family gatherings. It would be him that she loved -more than a friend and more than a brother.

“Hey... Bill I’m talking to you... are you okay mate?”

By the sound of her voice he snapped back into reality. He looked at her with desire and he was glad to see her worrying about him, and not Fleur. Yes, this thought was bad, but he couldn’t help himself.

“Bill darling, why don’t you play a song at the piano? I haven’t heard you play a long time now... I missed it” Molly Weasley said to her son noticing how he looked at his brother’s wife.

She knew. Of course, she knew. Bill had told her everything and although she was glad for her second oldest son and Y/N, the first time Bill had brought her to the Borrow, knew there was a special connection between them, making her sad for Bill.

As a good mum that she was, tried to make up his mind about how he should move on, go to a different path because Y/N loved Charlie, and Charlie love her. She thought that this final realization would make him forget about the inappropriate romantic feelings he had. But seeing him looking at her like that- she knew those feelings were still there.

So, before her nearly drunk firstborn says or do something stupid, she took the matter on her own hands.

“Uhm I don’t know mum. There’s a long time since I played”

“Oh, come on mon amour, at home you play a specific melody all the time! But you never sing. Play that!” Fleur said happily going over to Bill to get him up the sofa.

Y/N giggled and looked at him teasingly

“It better be good William; I don’t want to lose my hearing”

She sat down next to Charlie, and all the family looked at Bill as he started playing the melody of “She used to be mine”.

He played with so much passion as he started singing. He could feel every word through his bones, as the words slipped his mouth. He didn’t dare to look over her-although he wanted it so much. He knew that would see Charlies serious gaze, or angry even!

Charls didn’t hear it from anyone. But he had noticed how Bill was around Y/N every time, how he looked at her, how he was more himself around her. And the lyrics of this song proved his thoughts. It was so obvious to him that it was directly for her.

But they were brothers, and they loved each other. And as long Bill didn’t do anything to ruin what Y/N and him had, he wasn’t going to do anything. Besides he was with Fleur! Charlie was sure that Bill was overacting. But that didn’t stop the jealously running through his veins every time.

 Bill finished the song and immediately left the room.

“Mon dieu, excuse him, his mind is off to a problem at work, I’ll go to him!” Fleur said and followed her husband.

Y/N looked Charlie with concern in her eyes, motivating him to go after his brother as well.

‘’He’ll be fine. Fleur is with him” he replied silently, trying to get rid of the fury in his voice.

The rest of the evening went off rather well for the rest of the group, with conversations about unique muggle objects who had once again drawn Arthur’s attention, the upcoming Quidditch World Cup and the moving of Charlie’s and Y/N in Hogsmeade.

ok wait im doing this in reverse order because EASILY the best first person game is mirror’s edge. u can’t compete with perfection?? i didn’t really like first person games until i played it because i was so used to a third person camera but now i have no issue with them and i actually think that there are a lot of perks to not having to think so hard about camera position the way you do in third person games. i had a really hard time with the camera in the last guardian and that just really made me appreciate mirror’s edge a lot because i NEVER had a hard time with it. it was so fucking intuitive

RE: GUY GAMES

this is a little long sorry i am going to go into video game history, which i wish i could give a college lecture on, but i can’t, because no one cares. nobody is obligated to read this entire thing u can skip the next 3 paragraphs

anyway i think there is a very specific demographic that guy games are reaching out to that are like, firstly, men (duh), secondly, we are American!, we didn’t grow up playing nintendo games and watching anime and so we think all that weeb stuff is for nerds. in the 90s and early 00s video games werent for just Anybody they were for kids and for nerdy people (usually guy people, girls got sooo excluded it’s like v sad). like back in the 90s and early 00s games were released in america months or even years after they were in japan (and if you were in europe or australia, FORGET IT) and the translations were often kind of shoddy and slapped together, so you wound up missing stuff sometimes or getting something hilarious like “all your base are belong to us” (kudos to one of the internet’s very first memes...you memers out there better respect...video games MADE YOU...). anyway the point being japanese made games are not always appealing/accessible to the average american (who sees and anime and goes...why do they look like that thats weird) 

so that’s where a console like xbox comes from, it’s american-made, it’s the first of its kind, its gonna compete with nintendo (ostensibly for families/kids) and playstation (ostensibly for more grownup games) and americanize/westernize what is essentially a japanese medium at that point to make it accessible to americans/western men (because video games won’t be For Girls until like, very generously, the mid 2000s, and even now it’s a crapshoot), because it’s a huge untapped audience who aren’t experiencing or enjoying this medium, and if people wanna keep making games, games gotta keep making money, you know how it is w/ capitalism

as a side note i think it’s worth noting that before xbox came into the picture, sega was making its own consoles (genesis etc) that were VERY well-received by american audiences...sonic the hedgehog got like a FUCKTON of american-exclusive media such as shows and even a live action movie that came out as recently as THIS YEAR. but they didn’t have as much casual appeal and also had other difficulties, and so once they went under console-wise the market kind of opened up for something New. something with the american-friendly appeal of sonic, and something with the casual appeal of nintendo games, something with the more grownup appeal of playstation. so boom, you have xbox, you have halo, call of duty, etc. suddenly after almost two decades of japan exclusively cornering the home console market, americans can make games! wild!

(skip to here) and so i think that’s what a guy game is: a game made by american men specifically to appeal TO american men, or, at the very least, to not be a threat or turn-off to that demographic. guy games are exemplify american masculinity, and get their roots from what that meant in the early 00s (bearing in mind that as a rule Classic american masculinity is usually sexist/racist/homophobic lol). they have either male protags or female protags that are there to be eye candy. they’re often violent and lighter on the story content (or with a story specifically geared towards men, like halo, which was a huge rousing success) and feature limited women/romance plot lines. they’ve typically got that instant-reward action hack-em-up/shooting gameplay and not very many puzzles, because they’re by design meant to be easy to get into so as not to scare away the new audience they were trying to court 

happily that definition has expanded somewhat and we now have the phenomenon of the little girls from previous guy games (emily kaldwin from dishonored, ellie from tlou) becoming the protags of sequels in their own right. and it’s not like guy games are all bad because i, A Woman, have enjoyed many guy games myself. shooting is satisfying gameplay and sometimes im just not in the Mood for big heavy romance arcs like u find in rpgs. technically mirror’s edge borders on being a guy game but it’s got a TON of well-rounded women in it including a female protag who isn’t just there for sex appeal. games including guy games have more characters of color now (not to point to mirror’s edge twice but LIIIKE it’s one of the best games ever made, so). “””guy games””” made in the 2010s are just more inclusive generally bc american devs figured out women like games and they spend money too, and so gradually the classic “guy game” genre is sort of merging into the more broad thing of just “american games” which is probably a good thing but has also been fascinating to watch in real time. ok lecture over ty everyone for attending

AAAAAA, yeah I do imagine them as more functional lol, but I can definitely see why they wouldn’t be considering the nature of FNaF and the murders. I definitely interpret the Afton’s dynamic as chaotic; similar to how you interpret the Emily’s!

As for the Emily’s themselves, I imagine Charlie and Sammy sharing a close bond. My Charlie’s personality is shy and quiet, not liking to be the center of attention. My interpretation is similar to yours in that she does always try to help others and cheer up kids that might be sad. Sammy shares her anxiety, but is also considered to be a “weird” kid. He has a kind heart and is very sensitive, but there’s also something different about him. Same deal here, that Henry favors Charlie. Even though he won’t directly admit it, it’s obvious to the other two by how he acts. The boys tend to ask Charlie to ask Henry for things, because he’ll say yes to her when it might be an instant no to them. Sammy feels the need to compete with his sister due to her receiving most of Henry’s attention, which can sometimes cause him to distance himself from her, but usually she tries to make it up to him and constantly reassures him that he’s her equal.Charlie tends to baby Sammy tries to protect him. The twins are v close, and do everything together. They tend to get bullied, which strengthens their relationship with each other since they have someone to fall back on, and they know they’ll always have each other as friends.

As for the older brother (I tend to call him Jamie, but I’m thinking of changing it to Riley? I want to give him a gender neutral name, similar to Charlie & Sammy,) he feels very jealous towards his younger sibling’s bond. I’m not sure if I want him to be their half-brother yet or not, but there’s definitely an age gap between them which made him grow up feeling left out. Mr. and Mrs. Emily were busy taking care of the infant twins and didn’t give him as much attention as he should have received. He’s always getting into trouble, partially due to seeking attention from his family. That’s part of the reason he picks on his younger siblings, especially Sammy, since Henry is quicker to stop him from fighting with Charlie due to favoritism. But where Sammy goes, Charlie goes, and vice versa, so if the older brother picks a fight with Sammy, Charlie is quick to defend Sammy till they all get into trouble. What might start as simple play fighting can quickly turn into a screaming match when all three get involved. Usually the older brother is getting tag teamed by the twins, which he’ll cry is unfair, but the twins will argue it’s fair because he’s older.  

Overall, Henry is a “good” dad. He’s definitely caring and truly does love each of his kids, but sometimes neglects their needs. He messes up, bad sometimes, but in the end he tries to better himself and fix that. I imagine if everyone lived, he’d have learned from his mistakes and been a better father as time went on. I don’t have many headcanons for Mrs. Emily (or Mrs. Afton for that matter) but I imagine they weren’t the pinnacle of great mothers. 

That’s my interpretation anyways :3c I do really like yours tho! Sammy and Charlie being rivals is very interesting and allows for cool dynamics, and I can definitely see that happening since Henry favors her. Also Freddy being protective of Charlie is very cute. I also like his name!! Did Henry create Freddy Fazbear to be based off of him, or for him?
