SPOILERS FOR DOCTOR WHO REALITY WAR FINALE

THIS IS A MASSIVE RANT OF MINE WHICH lets be honest I didn’t realize was gonna be a rant until i finished writing lmao, but enjoy!!!

Okay what the HELL did I just watch LMAO, like I have loved Ncuti Gatwa this entire time as the doctor, but the finales have consistently made me so confused and felt so all over the place. I am desperately hoping they dont cancel the show after these two seasons cuz Disney is as we all know Disney, But i really think they need to get their act together.

I was so taken aback by seeing Jodie Whittaker show up out of nowhere, especially because It took me a minute to realize that the doctor was actually like 100% gonna regenerate (WHICH WE WILL GET TO). The precursor to this made it seem like Omega was gonna be so much worse of a threat than he was, and when he did get released the doctor faced NO THREAT really at all. He immediately stumbled into the solution for the problem and fixed instantly, which does not give good character development. Also can we talk about the exposition dump that happened throughout this episode cause GOD its a lot.

Moving on to the Rani, Archie Panjabi played such an intimidating villain but when all of her actions fell so flat the threat of her became very very- dull if that makes sense. Mrs Flood had been building this all up like it was meant to be some sort of massive crazy reveal and then boom literally 2 episodes after Archie-Rani gets introduced she gets merked, leaving Mrs Flood to run off and do Mrs Flood things. I had not really known about the Rani until this point in Doctor Who, so when I researched her I was surprise she ended up coming back. It would have made sense to have her be uniting WITH Omega or something along those lines rather than her just dying by him. It felt like a cop out of not knowing how to do deal with a ridiculously strong opponent that the doctor wouldn’t have known how to fight.

But as a writer, that’s your job. You need to figure out how that could work with what you set up, you can’t just throw everything together and hope it works.

If there is one thing that the New New Who (I guess???) gets really good, its this: Building Tension, and the Episodic Storytelling Style. I can for sure say I was enthralled by what was going on with Mrs Flood for both seasons as well as what the story was building to with both seasons. Both times however, I was left confused and frustrated.

Now, Poppy was weird to say the least. I get, I 100% get the sterile thing, it makes sense (HOWEVER PLEASE YOU COULD HAVE INTRODUCED THAT EARLIER ON IN THE SERIES), and Poppy being a brand New Child of the Timelords COULD HAVE MADE THINGS SO CRAZY, but you didn’t commit to that. I LOVED that the doctor had to fight with not only himself but Ruby about whether he had a daughter, but decisively making that moment the point where he says “PEACE IMMA GO FIND MY DAUGHTER” and then pulls some extremely risky behavior (LITERALLY UNIVERSE HOPPING), just to get her back, and then having her not be his actual daughter, feels like the doctor got handed such a bad hand.

Like, in reality yeah sure universe hopping and finding poppy but realizing she’s not your real daughter? Yeah sure that makes sense, but in terms of story writing, with everything having been built up this whole time, ESPECIALLY the abandoning everyone part, he just settles there and is like “Yep! :) That makes sense haha lemme just go become Billie Piper rq-“ LIKE SIR NO LMAO

Now. Billie Piper. GOD THATS SO COOL BUT SUCH A BAD TIMING FOR A REGENERATION. Dont get me wrong I adore 10s era just as much as the next who fan, but with where 15 (?i dont know what number ncuti is anymore) was in his story arc he was not done. He still had so much more potential he had to give, Ruby is still an engima that SHOULD BE EXPLORED MORE!!!! Belinda was honestly a tad annoying at times as a companion but ultimately I do respect her as a character because she is very grounded in reality. I think it would have made sense to give 15 one more companion if they could have (ESPECIALLY SINCE THEY HAD SO MANY PEOPLE TO PICK FROM LIKE HELLO??? ROGUE WAS RIGHT THEREEEEEE). I also want to point out that I’m worried about whats going to happen with Billie Piper being the doctor. It took away a role that usually gets handed to someone who has either played in doctor who before (WHICH DOES MAKE SENSE WITH PIPER AS THE DOCTOR) or its given to someone completely new. Im worried that bringing in Piper as the doctor will lure in the rest of the fans looking for their escapism as a new 10 era, and find the same faulty finales that have been consistent with the past two seasons, which I feel like would hurt the fan’s love of the show as well as their respect for the show.

I think Piper is such a cool concept because we HAVE had people the doctor has met before come back as other doctors (Peter Capaldi came back after the one pompeii episode for example), but I think that 15 deserved at least one more season to truly show just how fantastic he is because in all honesty he IS such a GOOD DOCTOR.

Prompt 1 "Supercharger": Spitfire! Because he's my favorite Supercharger! Even gave him a little black heart and white cheek scar (Dark Spitfire's mark)

Prompt 2 "Core": Gill Grunt! Because he's my favorite Skylander of all time! Gave him fish whiskers that catfish have and a battle scar on his shoulder! He probably has more scars around his body.

Prompt 3 "Fire": Hot Dog! CUZ HE'S A GOOD PUPPER!! Design him a bit like a pitbull pup because I love pitbulls! They have such BIG smiles!!

Prompt 4 "Series 2/3/4": Series 3 Spryo! Because I love his big ram horns!! Gave him a little black scar on his chest (Dark Spyro's mark)

Prompt 5 "Trap Team": Engima! Folks that know me know exactly why I picked him! Had a redesign of him already, so I used that design instead! It's a lot easier for me to draw that design than his canon one lol!

Prompt 6 "Water": Punk Shock! Because I think she's underrated and deserves more love from the fandom! Gave cool fishy eyelashes to make her eyes pop out more!

Prompt 7 "Lightcore": Shroom Boom! Because he's the only Lightcore I actually own (i think)! Gave him little freckles cuz their cute!

Prompt 8 "NPC": The Machine Ghost from Giants! Because DAMNIT I WILL NOT LET THEM, THEIR SACRIFICE, AND THEM SAVING OUR ASSES AGAIN DURING THE ROBO KAOS FIGHT BE FORGOTTEN!! Gave him those circuitboard line thingys on their face to make him more "techie" and gave some shine to the gear on their chest to make it pop out more.

I like to think at one point theres a mission that requires Kakania, Semmelweis and Marcus to go together.

Its Kakania and Semmelweis constantly arguing with Marcus attempting to calm them down.

Kakania and Marcus in horror that Semmelweis is like Greta (and Engima) about art when looking at a painting. Kakania is about to throw hands before Marcus stop her, but arguing continues.

Probably by the end of the mission Semmelweis hates Kakania a little less, Kakania starts to reconsider how she can be overbearing (probably tell her therapist later) and Marcus finally taking the holiday she initally rejected after 1.9 because of the headache those two were.

I have a question about the Colour Code. You and SE explained what each colour means but I don't think you ever explained why each colour means this particular thing and not another.

Like, I can guess that White = Complete Destruction because of Ifrit and what he did, but no idea about the other colours. Also, did white ever meant something different before the Astral War and only changed the meaning because of what happened then?

I don’t think @secret-engima or I ever came up with the background lore for the color code.

What do you think about the fact that John made a therapy group and had one of his freinds (seemingly repeatedly) insult the Bruce doll. I find it wild that Jlhn aka Certified Bruce Wayne Simp let Willy into his group or was even his freind.

The Purpose of John’s Therapy Group

We don’t know a lot of details about John’s immediate time in the outside world once he was released. All we know is that he was closely associated with Harley who in a way scouted him from Arkham to help with the Pact, and during John’s time on the outside he ‘frequented’ the Stacked Deck. The reason I’m bringing this up is because we need to know ‘Why’ John would make a therapy group. He claims to Bruce that the reason he started the group was so he could share some of the ‘expertise he learned at Arkham’ with them. Now whether he’s being genuine is up for debate.

I believe there are a few ways we could interpret the purpose behind John’s therapy group. Since this scene takes place in the very first episode ‘The Engima’, it plays on our preconceived notions of the Joker. The game tries to get us/Bruce to question John’s intentions, hence the question about whether John would be the type to Kill a man in cold blood, but if we associate John with the typical characteristics of ‘Joker’ the therapy group aspects feels a little more insidious. John was used to having some sense of control when he was in Arkham. He got along with the orderlies and knew the ins and outs of the place as well as being infamous to other inmates. To an extent, John could be trying to emulate that sense of control through this therapy group.

Now I have a billion readings of John’s character from him being a well intentioned but misunderstood dude to a sadistic psychopath but what’s fairly consistent to his character is that sense of control and power he wants over others. These two attributes are what arguably attract him to personalities like Harley and Bruce.

So its not unreasonable to think he would go after vulnerable people like Willy, a man who is a struggling alcoholic, and take advantage of them for his own gain. A detail that is easily overlooked is that John exploits Willy’s alcoholism as a means to get him to participate in the therapy group.

Exploiting Willy’s alcoholism is of course very messed up of John to do since he’s essentially scraping the bottom of the barrel to feel a sense of power and control over someone. So you’re right, he does use Willy as a pawn. (But I’ll get back to that)

Now for the wholesome reason. There is a part of me that believes that there was a well intentioned side to John with this therapy group. John tells Bruce how lost he felt once he no longer had the structure that Arkham provided and it’s possible that he would have wanted to seek out like minded people or at least people in similar predicaments.

If Bruce is kind, compassionate, and gives John the benefit of the doubt, then we see the positive result of that approach with John in the Vigilante route.

During the Boss fight with Bane in this route, Bruce is forced to pick between saving Willy or Agent Harrison from Bane. Here’s Jokers reaction when Willy dies:

Compare this emotional response to Villain Joker’s apathy when he shoots one of his own goons through the head. It’s evident that Vigilante Joker had empathy for him, at least enough for him to be upset by Willy’s death, even if for a moment.

Edit Note: To add, If Batman hesitates and doesn’t save either of the men. Joker uses his grapple to save Willy.

It’s worth noting that the existence of Joker’s team, consisting of Willy, Frank, and Lauren, all three of whom he encountered at the Stacked Deck, suggest that his time at that Bar was spent making a relatively genuine connection with these people which is reinforced when we see how loyal all three of them were to John/Joker.

That loyalty could stem from the fact that Joker gave them a purpose by utilising their skills that otherwise went neglected due to their afflictions— Just look at what Commissioner Gordon shares with Batman about Willy’s past;

“Machinist by trade. With a…storied employment history. He’s been fired from every factory and chemical plant in Gotham. Has a drinking problem, apparently.”

Despite this picture we get of Willy, Batman describes the work he put into crafting Joker’s custom batarang as “remarkable craftsmanship”. A clear sign that he’s a competent person when given the chance to prove himself (via Joker here), and if someone like Willy had been extended a helping hand with his problems earlier instead of thrown out by society and neglected then he’d be in a better position.

These people, like John, were outcasted by society, but have now banded together under a common cause, which is, to get back at Institutions/Authority groups like the Agency, one that preys on vulnerable people like them, for the harm they do. In this sense, I completely understand why John would associate with the guy.

Funnily enough, even in the Villain route, it’s assumed that Joker still kept Willy around as he’s the clown guy that introduces Villain Joker at the start of the episode and he survives the virus bomb since he was supplied a gas mask. Unlike the other henchman who gets his mask torn off by Harley so in both routes Willy does have a valuable part to play in Joker’s plan.

Messing with Bruce

Now I watched this part back a few times and the reason for this really depends on whether or not Bruce places a tracker on John. For this post I’m going with the option where he does track Johns location because there’s more to work with there since we can then assume that John could’ve planned ahead for Bruce’s arrival and set up the therapy circle so that the two things would inevitably coincide.

Why would John do that? Because it was a way to mess with Bruce. Something John does throughout the game.

It’s revealed by John that he’d speculated for some time that Bruce and Batman were the same person and when we consider John from S1 where he heavily implies that he practically knows the man’s identity as the vigilante then what we have here is another example of Johns latent sadism, except it’s enacted through an emotional/psychological sense.

This is Bruce’s reaction as soon as he enters the Stacked Deck and hears Willy yell “Batman!”, it clearly throws him off for a second. If we go back to ideas about power and control, this is arguably the one small sense of ‘power’ John has over Bruce. He would never of course out Bruce but he knows it makes the man nervous and we know this because one of Bruce’s responses to John’s accusation/reveal at the Funhouse in Ep4 is to immediately get defensive and assume he’s about to be blackmailed.

This emotional and psychological game that John plays with Bruce appears again when they’re at Cafe Triste. Maybe it’s just me but there’s a slight emphasis on the word ‘bat’ in Anthony’s delivery. Clearly implying the connection between Bruce and Batman there.

So to answer that last question, yes he was definitely using Willy in that scene as a way to mess with Bruce. On the whole however I personally think Willy’s role far outweighs a pawn and that there’s definitely a more significant aspect to the character.

How i feel dc should handle the riddler moveing forward, based on only the preview screens caps ive saw online

okay so they could always do my lame 3rd option, which is absolutely nothing and just let him be a neutral guy forever and that will mean i forever hate dc

NOW The first option- its just batman forever agian, in the sense that the company he's running "nygmatech" which has only appered in batman forever-meaning hes still evil and will produce some evil tech product or something

LET ENIGMA TAKE THE ROLE OF RIDDLER- while it dosent completly make sense as we dont know engimas current stance on if shes actual evil or not- but she would fit, based on the batman urban legend story arkham academy, we see her and she's very much as smart as edward, which is why id think it work

something i just realized about the sages (ignoring how frustrating to use i find the sages abilities overall) when they get their enigma stone they are like wow look at how much stronger i am now!! when its really just a ... clone of them, without the parts that make them interesting- the personality, and they "give" it to you (it doesnt feel like its really yours tho bc, unlike botw, its not intergrated into your moveset- which could have been solved by just adding them to another ability wheel- so it doesnt even feel like they are really yours) but ok i can see why its stronger even if i find it boring to just duplicate the character isntead of actually making their ability be more-

but then at the very end, they join you in the battle and .. dont even make use of it? what where the engima stones even for then? i guess you could bend over backwards and say well its bc their powers cant reach you all the way down there so they have to physical join you- BUT .. when they are right next to you .. shouldnt the connection to them be back anyway? so their clones should return shouldnt they? or is the entire arena just so surpressive of that power that it wouldnt work either way? then again ... what was its use then to get them to have those stones? like how ultra hand is supposedly the focus of the game but doesnt matter to the narrative at all?

(can you unsummon them when they are there?? i havent tried it but i dont think so ..)

like obviously it would be wayy too chaotic if all sages where there twice, especially together with all the ganondorf clones too- but it kinda .. once again... makes it feel meaningless that you even got them the stones? sure they only get to you when you do it but its really just again another check box with no substance, isnt it?

(... actually .. did anyone actually need the stones? aside from ganondorf getting that huge powerup somehow- like even the original sages and sonia and stuff, are you telling me she couldnt rewind ..................................... a tea cup, on her own? or i guess the only time sonia does anythign with her stone is when she gives its power to raurus laserbeam attack he never does again ... and the other sages arent shown to gain anything from it either?? are they?? what even would minerus ability have been bc she wasnt a -utterly useless- mech back then ... the shield she does doesnt seem unique to her either bc rauru literally does it too after sonia gets falcon-punched to death to block ganondorfs .. goo beam .... i mean i guess it doesnt matter anyway bc all we see them actually do is .. stand around and talk, sometimes "hurt" (dirty) sometimes not ... so whatever i guess?)

First is Jevin!

26 years old, Trans man (he/him), Queer

A vampire bat

Not a cultist, just a very mysterious hooded dude- He's quiet and nonchalant about almost everything

Despite how ominous and intimidating he is, he's pretty chill, kind and tries to join in with the other Sprunkis' activities

Married to Tunner <3

He and Pinki practice singing together (their voices sound heavenly together btw 🥺)

Along with Pinki, Jevin uses his singing voice to comfort others

He's one of the survivors in the horror timeline besides Gray, due to escaping and hiding well from Blackhat

He discovered Tunner attempting to unalive himself and was able to approach and comfort him

Jevin has two weapons for emergency- An axe and a freaking scythe- (he's full of surprises)

Jevin only knew Blackhat for a little while back in the day, but when he got older, he grew to hating him ever since he appeared to be an asshole and when horror mode happened

Next is Tunner!

27 years old, Cis man (he/him), Pansexual

A hybrid of a reptile and a bunny (he's an engima of a species lol)

He's sheriff of the Sprunkis- He's super hardworking and takes his job very seriously

Tunner owns a gun for defense- He also uses it to practice shooting targets

Tunner loves whistling for comfort

Tunner was a survivor in the horror timeline, but due to all of the stress that's been going on and thinking he wasn't able to save all of the Sprunkis, he thought the only way out was to shoot himself in the head with his gun... Luckily, he was found by Jevin after that

Through the horror timeline, he dissociates everything around him, mainly because he thinks he failed his fellow Sprunkis as sheriff..

Tunner really hates Blackhat- Especially when he's taunting him

Lastly, Sky!

14 years old, Cis man (he/him), Aroace

A bear cub

The youngest of the Sprunkis- He's a shy but sweet kid who wants to be involved with the others

He's pretty small for his age

Sky is really obsessed with plushies and loves collecting them- His favorites are teddy bears

Sky also likes playing video games ^^

He looks up to the other Sprunkis as his sibling/parent figures- Tho he's more closer with Jevin and Tunner

In the horror timeline, Blackhat impaled him with four metal rods (jesus- ._.)

Sky really really hates Blackhat- Not only he "died" a painful "death", but Blackhat burned his whole collection of plushies just to be petty- He was able to only save one teddy bear :(
