Just Dance Theory: Jack Rose's sibling

I'm so glad Littlsiha brought up the Kid of the Swan because I've been theorising this for a while and have just a few days before, made a huge break in the case that I would like to share with everyone and my supporting evidence to why I think Dahlia the coach for Don't Start Now and Flowers is Jack's sister.

Exibit A) Naming Convention

The most obvious connection between these two is that they both have flowers as part of their names.

Exibit B) Costuming

Now, although both the Flower siblings wear suits, with blacks, golds, and pinks prevalent in their designs, that's not the comparison I want to make. I want to compare Dahlia's suit to her mother's costume for Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This.

Both coaches wear black pantsuits over a brighter low cut, brighter top/leotard. Given that Flowers is a song about moving on, self-care and healing, perhaps she has decided to accept her past and better herself from it. Hence why her suit is adorned with her own floral motif.

But this is not the first time we have met Dahlia. The first time we see her is in Don't Start Now, where she wears a blue and gold dress, I will say, though, her top, her shoes and her glove are purple and red, colours that are worn by Jack Rose. I like to think this was shortly after leaving Eternyx as a form of rebellion against her mother and is doing everything to distance herself from Night Swan.

Exibit C) Map Colour Palates

Flowers, Don't Start Now,and Treasure all have backgrounds, which have pale gold and light pink tones to them.

Not only that, but in the later two, they both have sections within the routine where that background shifts to a stronger gold and deep purple, the colour of Jack Rose's glove.

Exibit D) Purple Glove Theory

Before I get into this section, for clarification, when I say signature glove, I'm referring to the glove that all coaches wear that the player matches the controller to.

So, as previously stated, Jack has two gloves. Typically, his gold glove is his signature glove, but in Treasure, the illusion is flipped, using the purple glove as his signature, specifically in this idealic dream under Night Swan's control.

Now, what's fascinating about this Sweet Dreams, Night Swan's glove is pink. However, the trailer for the upcoming Y2K event has an emote where she her glove has now changed to purple, so why would they change it for the emote?

I think this represents a familial bond between the three and by showing the real Jack himself, wearing it in a world associated with Dahlia's colours. Night Swan might be tempting him with the prospect of being a complete family again, as well as his "narcissism."

Exhibit D) Ice Cream

So this is just an interesting detail I picked up on. If anyone has a better explanation, please let me know.

So, the JD Twitter account posted a thread about what the 2023 coaches' favourite foods are. While most of the answers were jokes and references. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what Jack's favourite food being vanilla ice cream is a reference to.

For the JD 2024 Edition celebration event, one of the rewards was an avatar for Dahlia with the quote, "Art is more comforting than ice cream. It helps me break free!" There's nothing in either of her maps or Jack's maps that reference ice cream, so it seems a bit weird and out of left field. Unless this is a comfort food between the two that reminds them of the other.

So what happened between these two siblings and what had to Dahlia after she left?

Well that is a theory and a post for another day as this one is pretty long as is. But I do have some ideas and let's just say their interesting to say the least.

Summary - A dark shadow has been creeping across the Danceverse and after trying to help, you find yourself dragged before the Swan Prince. Horrible truths build upon terrifying revelations as it slowly dawns on you, there may not be a way out.

It was a mistake. A calculated risk you took but your Math didn’t quite check out. Your friends told you not to do it but you couldn’t just let those Swan minions take that poor innocent man. He made it out but the cost was your own freedom.

Swan Tower stands tall at the epicentre of the Swan Empire. No one who enters is ever seen as themselves again. Either they die or are turned and naturally you’re not overly fond of either option. Struggling against your captors and squirming in their grip to get away makes no difference. Their clawed hands hold tight; their emotionless faces don’t change. Eventually sick of the fight they take a tighter grip and proceed to half-drag and half-carry you in.

The throne room is a large cavernous space devoid of much of anything except for the throne at the far end and the large swan statue behind it. It’s hollow and empty and as you shout yet again to be let go your voice bounces around the entire room back and forth in a cruel mockery of you. As you approach the throne you notice a figure draped across it, one that is very familiar.

The former Jack Rose. While wearing the same old red suit, his once iconic red hair is now a stark black, with a small pink streak, while his bright pink feather boa has almost completely turned black. No one truly knows what happened to him, only that he prefers to go by Jack Swan now and is a twisted shadow of his former self.

As you’re brought before the throne you’re thrown to the floor, barely catching yourself before you chip your teeth. You look to the throne. The Swan Prince is sat sideways, his legs over one arm while his back rests against the other. He isn’t looking at you, his attention taken by some dust or dirt on his gloves instead.

Seconds tick past as you desperately look around hoping to see some sort of way out, but with Jack Swan before you, the minions who brought you in still behind you, and a hundred and fifty feet to the nearest doorway, you’re stuck waiting for him to acknowledge you.

“You can’t do this, you know,” Swan turns to you. He looks bored and as though your mere presence is nothing but a nuisance, “Getting in our way. It’s rude.”

You try to speak but your response is nonsense, torn between an apology you don’t mean and a scathing take-down that you don’t have the guts to back up. You’re not ignorant to the situation you find yourself in and honestly don’t know which road will get you the least tortured.

Swan chuckles, apparently finding your bumbling amusing as he swings his legs off the arm of the throne and moves to stand.

“We have this plan, you see. Very important, very precise and we just don’t care for those who make the mistake of standing in the way.” Each footstep as he walks forward echoes around you, piercing the air and cutting into your chest as you struggle to keep your calm, “So an example has to be made.”

Digging deep you find the strength to spit out that he doesn’t scare you. It doesn’t matter if it’s true or not, you won’t give him the satisfaction of seeing you tremble.

“It’s not me you have to be afraid of,” Swan can’t help but laugh at your attempt at bravery, “Not when Mother gave me a powerful friend to do my dirty work.”

From behind the throne steps another figure. Taller, much darker in overall colour to the point it takes you a moment to realise just who you’re looking at. As it dawns on you, your jaw drops.

No!

Almost unrecognisable, Wanderlust as you’ve never seen him before steps forward. A purple shirt, blue pin-striped trousers, and a black feathered cape, while a black diamond over one eye makes it hard to look at him. The colours are similar enough that the more you look the more you see him, but the colours are unbalanced, almost like you’re looking at a fun-house mirror reflection given life. Worst of all, his crown, an iconic sight that’s inspired countless of citizens across all the Danceverse has been twisted, stretched, and spiked beyond recognition.

“You’re late.” Jack smirks as he watches your reaction, playfully admonishing Wanderlust without even turning.

“I’m sorry, your Highness.”

Rumours have been flying for weeks that Wanderlust had been overtaken but you never actually believed it before now, no one did. No one wanted to. He’s supposed to stand for all that is good and right and joyous about everything and if even he couldn’t stand up against the Night Swan then who could?

“I know that look.” The Swan Prince saunters forward, crouching before you and peering at you like you’re some animal, the smile never leaving his face, “I’ve seen that look a hundred times, hell I wore that look once, remember that Lust?” he calls over his shoulder but doesn’t wait for an answer, “then Mother taught me better and now I know. I understand that this is what’s best for everyone. The Swan Empire is what’s best for everyone.”

The smile falters and you see a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes. Like he’s reading from a script and he’s just heard what he’s saying out loud for the first time and it doesn’t make sense.

Yes Jack. Remember, this isn’t right!

A blue hand falls on Jack’s shoulder and in a flicker the moment is gone. Self-assurance, confidence, and that hollow narcissistic bravado that had wavered is back in force. While the two of you were staring in silence, Wanderlust has stepped forward and with only a hand, silently anchored his partner back to reality. Swan reaches to place his own hand on top of Wanderlust’s.

“Even Wanderlust used to think like you.”

Jack Swan stands, stepping back slightly as Wanderlust reaches forward, wrapping his arms around his partner’s waist and resting his chin on his shoulder. Swan leans back into the hold.

“Now he knows better. Don’t you?”

“Yes, your Highness.”

Wanderlust nuzzles at his partner’s cheek with a small smirk while Swan melts further back into his possessive grip, humming as he drinks in the attention.

Then Swan swiftly turns in his partner’s hold, grabbing the back of his head and pulling him in. Wanderlust doesn’t hesitate, shifting just as their lips crush together so he can hold Swan just as tight. It’s forceful and passionate, both of them gripping and kissing as though the world will end the second they stop.

Everyone knew the rumours about Wanderlust and Jack Rose. Whispers of a forbidden bond that went unspoken and unfulfilled; an implicit trust that went beyond the mere friendship they showed to the world around them. Even so, the thought of them ever doing anything was laughable. No one would have accepted it.

Seeing them like this, unrestrained, you realise that their being paired together is no accident.

Both of them in their own right are powerful enough to stand against Night Swan, and given their strength they’re the most likely to question what they’re doing. But as long as she allows them to be together, free from judgement, free from expectation, if either should start to doubt, the other would be there to remind them exactly what they have to lose. As long as they’re allowed to keep the other near, there would be no rescuing either of them.

Swan stops, shoving Wanderlust away from him.

“Enough.”

Wanderlust lets go and steps back, watching intently as Swan brushes his suit down and straightens himself out. It’s like he’s waiting for further instruction, and he doesn’t have to wait long.

“Take care of this one,” Swan dismissively gestures over his shoulder at you, “I have to speak with Mother.”

Swan pauses, reaching out to cup Wanderlust’s cheek, allowing his fingers to brush down it as he walks away from you. Wanderlust turns, trying to let the fingers linger for as long as possible before they eventually drop off. Wanderlust then watches as his partner struts towards the exit.

The moment Swan is gone, Wanderlust finally turns his attention to you, stepping towards you. His lips are a firm line with the slightest hint of a smirk tugging at the very edges. The smile burns in his eyes, not even a sliver of the uncertainty you’d seen in Jack’s.

Trembling, you shakily get to your feet, able to feel the beat rumbling the floor beneath you. You know what’s coming. You know that against the former Prince of the Danceverse you’ll never win but you won’t go down without a fight.

The music strikes up, welling up around you and Wanderlust offers you one single piece of advice.

“It will hurt less if you don’t fight it.”

In unrelated news…

I just posted my first JD fic! It’s a superhero AU with a bunch of coach cameos from the other games. I won’t update it regularly since I have a project, a play, and graduation stuff that I still have to work through, but the important parts of the plot are outlined and I have a couple of chapters already written. Hopefully this is a fic that may ease the current anxieties going around.

Summary:

In the daytime, Wanderlust and his friends are normal students in Just Dance High School. But at night, they become the Just Dancers, a team of superheroes determined to save the Danceverses and their citizens from evil. While they're used to fighting the average supervillain, this new foe only known as the "Night Swan" may look to be their toughest enemy as of late, her kidnapping of coaches possibly leading to something more sinister.

But with this evil threat, Wanderlust can only seem to think about the Swan Prince, the Night Swan's enigmatic and mysterious right hand man. And when new student Jack Rose enters his life, he doesn't know how many mysteries will take before he's unable to function.

I think I now realised something! Something that may be another ray of hope for some of you.

Currently we assume that the most logical reason for why the devs dont ebcourage Jacklust is because they are related...

But what if it's because of a different reason we didn't consider before: Their age gap?

Wanderlust is 27, Presuably in Human Years.

And while we dont know Jack's age, we do know that he is still unable to be indepedent (Reason why he stayed ib Nightswan post Enter the danceverse) While still being a pop star. So in theory he may be in the early 20s, or even very late 10s.

And that makes a 5-10 year age gap, something that is probably not good for human-like ship advertasing.

But you know where it Does work?

God to human.

In mythlogites, gods of many years go and have a realtionship with humans who lived for a fraction of their lifespan, and Jacklust could work like that. Hell, Traveler and Shianova may work like that.

So that loose end is now closed, making the Jack-Traveler theory even weaker!

“Which is better” storymodes week!!!!

Basically what I’m going to be doing is making the most liked story mode playlist almost, by seeing which songs out of the two people think is best. So kind of a combination of “Enter The Danceverses” and “Dance With The Swan”!!

(more information down below, please tell me if this doesn’t make sense or if you have any questions, I am trying to explain my idea to the best of my ability lol)

For example; If You Wanna Party by The Just Dancers V.S. Tainted Love by The Just Dancers (and) Physical by Dua Lipa V.S. Stronger (what doesn’t kill you) by Kelly Clarkson.

If Tainted Love were to win, I would have that be the last song in the storymode, and same for the Brezziana songs I listed as examples, and so on (possibly a mix of both the story modes to see what they create).

I have already started the poll for If You Wanna Party by The Just Dancers V.S Tainted Love by The Just Dancers, if you are interested in checking that one out. I plan to be doing this for every song in both of the storymodes and yes I did start this in the middle of the week, that was a mistake but it’s too late to turn back now I guess.

Captain Crimson theory

Everyone recently has been loosing their marbles over the "Traveler is Jack's father" theory possibly being confirmed in the evet next door, so I would like to take this post to talk about a ye old theory.

Captain Crimson IS THE FATHER!

First, let's see the evidences.

First of, they are both have red hair, and Jack's name comes from Jack and Rose from the Titanic, which already stablishes some paralels between them (Sail), it's already more evidence than the Traveler theory by what i've seen

"But why would Night Swan be into pirates????"

Huuum... So what? People can have different tastes, so what that she was/is into pirates? She was probably really young when she had Jack, it's not a stretch to believe that she could just be into pirates in her youth, or maybe she was just seduced by him (who wouldn't am I right?)

"But Crimson doesn't have nothing to do with Eternyx!"

Space travel canonicaly exists in the Danceverse, NS could've just been traveling around searching for fame, meet Crimson, and then Jack, also, in the lore video for Sail, iirc, Crimson and his crew entered the cave from "Human", which IS in Eternyx!

"What about Plum?"

People can have past, in my headcanons, I personaly believe that Crim broke up with NS when he met Plum and falled in love with her, not knowing that NS was pregnant of him, or maybe Crimson could just be cheating on Plum, or maybe what made him and NS break up was his desire for adventure, and he only met Plum after, who knows!

skills: it doesn't matter if it's just one person or thousands, as long as she's connecting with anyone she can make her dance more powerful. she can also lend special ribbons to the people she dances with, they serve as a proof of their connection and friendship, and that's what connects her with everyone in her dancerverse (and other dancerverses too, once she meets wanderlust)

2023 map: shivers by ed sheeran

the map takes place in a vibrant, dreamlike field in hues of pink, yellow and orange. mechi dances with a lot of people and has a lot of fun. as they dance, the field slowly grows heart-shaped flowers, symbolizing the connections she has made along the way. when the song ends, she says goodbye to everyone. wanderlust, sara and brezziana come from the portal and greet her, asking mechi to come with them. she says yes with no hesitation.

2024 map: shut up and dance by walk the moon

the map takes place in the same field, but the sun's starting to set. she's all alone, and when the song starts, she starts to reflect on the friendship she has with wanderlust, sara, brezziana, mihaly and jack rose. she has a moment with each one of them, imagining they are with her and she gives them a ribbon. the sky's finally dark, and when the song ends she recieve's wanderlust call for help. mechi, who doesn't want to lose her new friends, is ready to save sara and defeat night swan.
