13x07 This ep went into the silly and bad pile. While ‘redemption / responsibility,’ or what one has to do to make up for one’s mistakes, has been a theme in the show for a long time, imo the way they’ve dealt with it has gotten worse and worse as the show has gone along. The writers are again exploring this theme through various characters this season - bringing back Ketch here, then Rowena and Gabriel later on - but it’s done in such a shallow, surface level way, and when fit into the context of the whole show, becomes something very shitty to me.
There was also some weird writing re the framing around Ketch & Dean as foils, but idk if I’m overthinking it.
13x08 This ep went into the silly but enjoyable pile. Both Sam and Dean are exaggerated / caricatured (Dean would not have freaked out abt having to give up blood to open the room with the safe; this post talks about Sam being the “smart” one and then trying to put out a fire by blowing on it lmao, Sam would’ve know to step on it) but heist plots are fun, Smash and Grab were entertaining side characters, and I like Glynn’s eps have a kinder tone to them that a lot in later seasons.
13x09 & 13x10 Berens (and Dabb as well, maybe?) were definitely inspired by Stranger Things, huh. Kaia’s 'dreamwalking’, teens with cool powers saving the day, and the Bad Place = the upside down.
Dean pulling a gun on Kaia really does stand out, because it’s a striking Emotionally Real moment when the show has increasingly lost that emotional verisimilitude.
I’ve been thinking over how the Kripke era frames young ppl with powers and how it feels different in the later seasons, and especially in Berens’s writing. As I’ve said before, it’s very much a YA/superhero take on powers – Patience leaving because of her vision, her dad fighting/rejecting her in a similar way John did to Sam (“You go now, you choose that life, you don't come back.”), Jack explaining to Kaia that their powers can be used for good and Kaia bravely using her powers to open up a portal at the end of the ep. I think Kripke and his writers struggled a bit w/ how to frame Sam, his powers, and the special kids, particularly because season 3 got cut short, but there was definitely more of a wariness around powers that is not in the later seasons.

hi love!! I'm doing alright! Last few days have been hard mentally but my bff came over yesterday and it really helped. Starting to get stressed over finals but I'm so excited for next semester. Just taking things day by day really. I started reading again, not just fics, and I'm almost done with The Charm Offensive (very very cute and mildly smutty). I've also restarted cm & st. I never finished the last 2 & half season of cm and I don't know if I can mental handle the last 2 eps of st again.
Awe I'm sorry that you have to get surgery but I do hope it all goes well!! If you wanna chat about it my inbox is always but not pressure bubs. I love you and I'm so happy to hear things are going well <333
omg i'm also watching the last two and a half seasons of cm (i just finished 13x08 earlier!)
i just finished st 4x08 earlier and cannot bring myself to watch the end bc... ya know 😭💔
i am also very excited for next semester! i'm excited to have in-person classes again and!!! i'm starting theatre classes next semester which i am SO EXCITED for.
i've heard of that book! i wanna say i added it to my tbr but i'd have to look lol. i'm currently halfway through Beach Read! i brought The Love Hypothesis along with me to read on break since i know i'm gonna fly through Beach Read lol.
if you ever wanna talk books, i am so down because i'm currently in the process of revamping my tbr. there were a lot of books i added a long time ago so i needed to update it a little bit lol. anyway, if you ever wanna talk book recs or anything, my DMs are always open!
but anyway, on a more serious note, i am always here to talk if you ever need it during those mentally hard days. i'm always here to talk on the good days too of course, i just want to extend the offer because i know how hard it can be to not have someone on the hard days. 🫶🏻

What I Watched in 2022 (TV)
I was going to fill out a survey about my TV-watching habits, but then I realized...I have a seive-like brain (now more than ever, considering that I watch things almost exclusively on streaming services and have little to no idea what is even currently airing on television), and my time would be better served just organizing the list I more-or-less kept track of throughout the year and trying to make some sense of it.
En...joy?
Current Scripted Shows (2021-22 and/or ‘22-23 season):
Abbott Elementary
Alaska Daily
Blood & Treasure
Ghosts (US version)
Pretty Smart
Severance
Sweet Magnolias
United States of Al
(I’ve got literally 4 ships across all of these shows, plus Densi on the side from NCIS: LA even though I’m not watching it. god. no wonder I feel so parched and/or go so off the rails when I stumble into a good romantic movie these days. or even just a movie with a solid romance in it.)
Current Reality/Game Shows:
The Amazing Race: Season 33 & 34 (but also: on Hulu I binged 23, 25-29, and a rewatch of 31)
Beyond the Edge
The Chase
The Floor is Lava
Jeopardy: the College Tournament of Champions & however much has aired so far of the Celebrity Tournament of Champions
Survivor
The Weakest Link (w/ Jane Lynch)
(WHY AM I THIS ADDICTED TO REALITY AND GAME SHOWS. How old am I. what year is it.)
Older Shows:
Alone (History channel): season 8/Chilko Lake
Bedlam (something British... SkyTV?): season 1
The Chair (Netflix miniseries)
The Circle (Netflix): season 1 & 2
Deadwater Fell (Acorn)
Enlisted (FOX)
The Exes (TV Land)
Fuller House: 1x01-06 (then I got too overwhelmed with joy and needed to save it)
Hit the Floor (VH1): season 1 & 2
Keep Breathing (Netflix miniseries)
Maid (Netflix)
Mythic Quest (AppleTV): 1x02, 1x08-2x04 w/ husband
Ultimate Beastmaster: season 3
Valor (CW)
Rewatches:
Blood and Treasure: season 1
Revolution: 2x13-22
The Office: 8x07-24
Siberia
Ally McBeal: Josh Groban's 2 episodes (which I forgot to post about, dangit)
Community (I lost count because I’m jumping around the series and rarely see more than 2 or 3 in chronological order, but I’ve definitely seen at least 50 of them for the umpteenth time)
Random rewatch episodes in syndication/Netflix:
Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team
Sabrina the Teenage Witch (just 2, but so fun that night)
Wheel of Fortune
King of Queens
Seinfeld
Bonus: One or Two Episode Wonders
(with 1 or 2 exceptions, there was nothing wrong with these shows, I just was like "wow this is good!" and then was too overwhelmed or unable to return)
American Housewife: 1x01-02 (still saved for when I need a comfort-food sitcom)
The Big Leap: 1x01 (I definitely MEANT and WANTED to continue, I was just never Ready)
Camp Snowflake: 1x01 (this one I bailed on purpose; it was awful.)
The I-Land: 1x01 (why does this look so good yet move so slowly and boringly)
The Last Cowboy: 1x01-02 (caught on TV; wish I could have watched more! a reality show about reining horses and their riders? DUDE. unfortunately I could only find this on live TV)
Mr. Mayor: 1x01-02 (Holly Hunter was truly That Repellent huh)
NCIS: LA: 13x08 (oh, wow, I meant to watch at least a couple more highlight eps...but really, I am now a shippy-gifsets-only kind of girl)
Redneck Island: 3x02-03; 1x02-09 (bless you late night syndication and insomnia lmao)
The Terminal List: 1x01 (I really did mean to continue, but then Matt Barr knocked Chris Pratt Owen Grady off the top of Handsome Mountain so now we're waiting until I am back in the groove of finding this man attractive under the right circumstances)
Conclusions:
Favorite show of the year is hands-down bar-none Blood & Treasure, but Abbot Elementary is a close second. The best reality show this year is definitely The Amazing Race. And among the older shows, Maid is fantastic and very much worth your time/my leading favorite among them.
Best comfort-food sitcoms: Ghosts, United States of Al, Family Reunion, Enlisted and The Exes are all a warm delight.
Also, doesn’t qualify as a comfort-food one but Mythic Quest is surprisingly entertaining, for someone who’s never played a MMORPG in her life and whose last video game attempts were done on a PS2. I just hate the language (and Ian).
And all of the rewatches, obviously, sheer perfection. *chef’s kiss*

~500 words, deancas
I could crush you.
It’s what Castiel wants to say when they’re in the heat of battle, when there’s an explosion heading their way and Dean tugs on his arm. Dean pulls him along with strength that surprises him. Dean pushes him to the ground, behind an old, rusting car with windows that were shattered a long time ago, and it’s instinctual the way that Castiel moves when Dean wants him to, even though Castiel is an angel and he could do away with Dean with a twitch of a finger.
I could crush you, Castiel thinks, but he doesn’t say it aloud.
Maybe Dean’s really gotten stronger. Maybe it’s that, because when Dean throws himself on top and tries to shield him from the explosion, Castiel puts a hand on Dean’s chest, tries to push him away, because it should be him that should be doing the protecting.
But Dean’s face is so desperate.
Dean doesn’t budge when Castiel tries to move him. He clutches at Castiel with vulnerability in his eyes. He shields Castiel from harm’s way as if he’s using every bit of his strength in devotion to that task.
So, “Damn it, Dean,” Castiel says, teeth clenched, but he wraps his arms around him right back, and they hold each other as the explosion rocks the earth from a short distance away.
I could crush you.
It’s what he wants to say when Dean’s up again, when Dean’s got his hand gripping Castiel’s, and they’re running wild through the woods, and Dean’s telling him to go faster, to run ahead of him because Dean wants to keep Castiel from the line of fire, take whatever danger’s coming for himself.
I could crush you, Castiel says, even if the words never leave his mouth, even if he lets Dean do what he desires.
It’s when they’re good and gone that they stop, still in the midst of endless forest, and maybe it’s the adrenaline pumping through them, because Dean goes for him, pulls him into an embrace and breathes, “Thank god, you’re safe.”
And it’s there, when they’re in each other’s arms and rocking just a little, that Castiel says quietly, “I could crush you,” and Dean stiffens just a little.
Dean doesn’t say anything. But Castiel hears the breath catch in his throat. He feels the way that Dean’s arms tighten around him.
So, “You could,” Dean says, voice muffled into Castiel’s neck, and, “So you shouldn’t, Cas. You gotta let me protect you.”
Maybe it’s the memory of a pyre. Maybe it’s a cold dark cell and the lurking shadowy figure of Asmodeus. Or maybe it’s the thousand times that they’ve been torn away, with every intention to return to one another, and the wait in between’s just starting to feel too long. Whatever it is, it ignites the anxiety in Dean’s heart. It ignites the intensity in his eyes when they finally pull apart and look at each other.
So Cas says, “Okay,” softly enough that Dean’s ears barely catch it.
But it’s loud enough.

13x08: The Scorpion and the Frog
I had some quibbles, but overall I enjoyed the ep. While on the weak side for a heist story, it had cute moments (this is a short and incomplete list, as we’re staying at friends and watched the ep only once, late at night with the volume turned low so I likely missed some bits?):
The Winsync walking in step in the beginning -- do they do that on purpose? Or just fall into it accidentally?
Sam being willing to deal with a demon (while Dean was reluctant) was. Odd? Killing said demon being part of the plan is less odd. But did Crowley’s sacrifice make him more willing to trust demons at all? But I do love the brothers disagreeing but talking it out and coming to consensus and being good partners.
The demon Bart was Crowley 3.0 -- or 4.0? I’m losing count. But he actually showed the advantage of having killed Crowley off, because as a recurring character, there were limits to what could be done with Crowley. While as Bart could betray them and be killed here; it opens up different story opportunities.
Sam going undercover was fun but they missed a prime opportunity -- he didn’t seem like he was pretending to be a hunter but rather a collector or otherwise expert on supernatural stuff, so the show missed the prime opportunity to dress him up in tweed with elbow patches and glasses. A nice pair of adorably nerdy horn-rims. Sigh.
Dean being afraid of spiders and a finger prick, heh.
Dean getting pissed off about Sam’s intelligence being disparaged, and later his first question being where’s his brother, yay!
Brotherly badassery with Dean steering Baby and Sam shooting out the tires, yessssss!!!
“Smash” -- Alice? pretty sure they gave her name but I missed it -- was cute, glad she got to live, that they helped her out. Saving people is still the first part of their mandate and I always am happy to see that.
And it ended with a proper brother moment, with Dean being supportive and asking about Sam, and Sam admitting he’s not okay, and it’s always nice to have that checking in. I like Dean being the positive one because it doesn’t come to him naturally, he’s too much of a cynic; but when Sam is struggling he will try to step up and grab the optimism bag.
So yes, the best part of this episode for me was the brother stuff -- which was the major part of the episode; this was a story about Sam & Dean, and that’s what I’m watching for.

Hey :) I'd like to ask if you know some good series with a hidden or ignored injury, maybe shot or stabwound, that gets worse or starts bleeding again etc. Or what's also super good if the other person obviously sees it and for example asks him if he needs rest, but he just says he's fine, but you can see him sweating, stumbling or even collapsing. Thank youu 😁
Hi! Oohhh I love these tropes 😍 Right now I remember these ones, but I can add more later (and if anyone knows of others and wants to share it, it would be great!)
- Dark Matter 2x11 (shot)
- Merlin 2x13 (same link as above)
- Horatio Hornblower, ‘Retribution’ (hinding gunshot wound)
- The OC 4x15 (glass shard after earthquake)
- Once Upon a Time 3x02 (poisoned cut, goes on for a couple more episodes)
- Leverage 2x15 (shot)
- Cursed 1x09 (poisoned arrow)
- Hanna 1x07 and 1x08 (shot)
- Transplant 1x01 (Car crash)
- See 1x07 (after fight)
- Young Wallander 1x02 (stabbed)
- Happens a lot at Daredevil
- Supernatural has a LOT too, some examples are 13x08 (Dean, shot) and 14x03 foward (Jack, hiding from others that he’s been coughing blood)
- Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency 1x08 (Arrow shot)
- The Resident 1x10 (twisted ankle)
- Guardian Ep 2 (c-drama, claw wound)
- The Untamed has a lot, an example is Ep 28 (c-drama, stabbed)
Hope you like them :)

hello, im catching up on spn and need to watch s12-15. Im wondering if there are any dud episodes worth skipping? I heard a lot of people hated the ep theres something about mary and not sure why?
Yo!
Yeah I can list some that I don’t think are 100% essential to watch if you’re trying to catch up for the finale, but even these you should watch at some point!  (I mean some are straight garbage but there are usually at least one gem in amongst the garbage lmao)
There’s Something About Mary is trash fucking garbage because of what happens in it, but it is pretty relevant to the plot, but just prepare to be pissed off when you watch it.
12x02 - Mamma Mia
12x05 - The One You’ve Been Waiting For (this might be a hot take but I literally never remember this episode askdjfkjd)
12x08 - LOTUS
12x13- Family Feud
12x18 - The Memory Remains
13x07 - War of the Worlds
13x08 - The Scorpion and the Frog
13x13 - Devil’s Bargain
13x17 - The Thing
14x02 - Gods and Monsters
14x07 - Unhuman Nature (this episode has some great moments but one half of the plot is garbage so here it is lmao)
14x12 - Prophet and Loss
For a list of eps that I think are CRITICAL to watch, look here, these are just eps that I...don’t remember or don’t like lmao

If i desperately need to watch a show with a gay jewish detective but cant commit to 200+ eps do you have a list of recs for episodes of murdoch mysteries im weak for gays in period dramas
Just know getting into it that they don’t really focus on either of these things in the show (currently only one episode where he discovers he’s jewish and a brief mention in another ep +  he’s confirmed gay three seasons after he’s introduced) BUT even minus being a gay and jewish icon Watts is still the best character and he’s been acting gay since he was introduced lol
It’s week by week mysteries though so honestly you can tune in whenever and you won’t be lost. Watts is introduced in season 10 and I’ve included and italicized all the episodes he’s in below. The show is great not just for Watts though so if you want to get more into it without watching all the episodes here are some from each season that hit more major plot points or are just super good in our opinion:
Season 1
1x01 Power
1x05 Till Death Do us Part (also gay)
1x08 Still Waters
1x13 The Annoying Red Planet
Season 2
2x05 The Green Muse
2x06 Shades of Grey
2x07 Big Murder on Campus
2x13 Anything You Can Do?
Season 3
3x01 The Murdoch Identity
3x03 Victor, Victorian
3x05 Me, Myself and Murdoch
3x06  This One Goes to Eleven (James Pendrick x Murdoch is my favourite non-canon ship on this show tbh)
3x07 Blood and Circuses
3x08 Future Imperfect
3x12 In the Altogether
3x13 The Tesla Effect
Season 4
4x03 Buffalo Shuffle
4x06 Dead End Street
4x13 Murdoch in Wonderland
Season 5
5x01 Murdoch of the Klondike
5x03 Who Killed the Electric Carriage?
5x07 Stroll on the Wild Side pt. 1
5x08 Stroll on the Wild Side pt. 2
5x09 Invention Convention
5x11 Murdoch in Toyland
5x13 Twentieth Century Murdoch
Season 6
6x01 Murdoch Air
6x04 A Study in Sherlock
6x13 Crime & Punishment
6x13 The Murdoch Trap
Season 7
7x03 The Filmed Adventures of William Murdoch (only watch this if you end up caring about pendrick as much as we do or like sillier episodes lol)
7x04 The Return of Sherlock
7x08 Republic of Murdoch
7x09 Midnight Train to Kingston (only if you like Gillies)
7x16 Kung Fu Crabtree
7x18 The Death of Dr. Ogden
Season 8
8x04 Holy Matrimony Murdoch
8x07 What Lies Buried
8x12 The Devil Wears Whalebone (Emily Grace x Lillian Moss, a canon wlw couple starts here -Lillian is in 8x08 and 8x10 but she doesn’t play a huge role. I’m not including all their eps cause their interactions are brief and skippable in most)
8x14 Toronto’s Girl Problem
Season 9
9x03 Double Life
9x05 24 Hours to Doomsday (again only if you like Pendrick)
9x07 Summer of ‘75
9x10 The Big Chill
Season 10
10x04 Concocting a Killer (Watts introduction episode!!!)
10x05 Jagged Little Pill
10x10 The Devil inside (it’s not good but you have to watch if you like Gillies)

10x18 Hell to Pay
Season 11

11x06 21 Murdoch Street

I am currently on 13x08 of Supernatural! I'm so excited to get to the Scoobynatural episode.
It's the first ep I ever saw of the show a couple years back and now that I know and love the characters, it's gonna be more fun!
