Devil’s Minion hints - Part II // link to Part I
Part II Ep 8
- what to say of the whole ‘disregard’ debacle, well. Why do you have such an antagonistic relationship to the former house servant Daniel? What is it about him that makes you even more uncomfortable than Louis, the vampire you actually remember attacking you and almost killing you, does? Arguing as foreplay, as you say. Also clearly the memory wipe doesn’t totally erase feelings: he is angry at him even if he doesn’t remember the psychological torture, but at the same time there’s no fear. Only a need to rile Armand up. (Also Armand are you trying to look extra slutty for Daniel sitting like that? What are you doing with the unbuttoned shirts, really.)
- Mr. Molloy count: 3
- Armand is so sick and twisted btw for that little smirk when Daniel says he’s ‘a bright young reporter with a point of view’. No remorse in sight none. He’s like ‘yes you are. Do you remember who said that to you? Because I do’. My favourite sicko
- When Armand says that journalism is Daniel’s drug, wow he did really clock him. Have you seen that post about Daniel chasing an high from the adrenaline of interviewing dangerous people? Yeah. Armand really does understand him on an intimate level, like the comment in the season 2 finale also reveals. Probably too good an understanding for a superficial-I tortured you once-acquaintance. On the other hand torture sure is an intimate experience to share with someo[gunshot]
- the little wistful smile he has when he talks about ‘the boy we met in sf’.
- the way Armand can’t help but smile at Daniel’s sassy comments directed against him. Like he should want to kill him for the disrespect alone why does he seem almost fond of this insufferable human?
- I am so impressed with this episode by the way. Before seeing this season I was like ‘one hour of ww II Europe? Grim.’ I though I wouldn’t like this one and in the end it ended up being one of my favourite episodes. It’s really a character study and I loved that. Also great job at woveing in European politics (the soldiers saying ‘speak Russian’ and Emilia refusing and speaking romanian, the complex intermixing of cultures in Eastern Europe with the whole urss situation is a big thing we still see the effects of today). Usually I don’t trust at all US shows to talk about eu politics and history without making it usa centric in some way but they proved me wrong here. 9/10 episode all in all

watched the new little mermaid and it’s cute, better than most of the other disney remakes except maleficent and the jungle book (like cinderella tier). the singing and acting is really good and transplanting it into the caribbean was done really well!! the outfits were really good, the cgi on ursula was damn amazing and part of your world was great as well. the added relationship between eric and his mother, and the kind of subtextual double meaning when eric, the white adopted son of a black caribbean islander, admits that the two worlds can’t ever meet, was kind of interesting, and there was something fun there about like, these two very similar multiracial societies who fear each other being lead by parents terrified that what befell their child’s parent will befall their child. also, while i still high key judge taking all the queerness out of the story (oh but making ursula a drag queen would have been homophobic, okay, so give ariel two dads then? there was a way to honor divine and howard without just excising them from the narrative!), but melissa mccarthy was damn funny and the vanessa actress was amazing, when she gets found out and she starts screaming with melissa’s voice? that’s cinema ❗️
but it made what sucked kinda stand out lol. the cgi on the fish and mermaids was distractingly bad, like “chris evans’ face on skinny steve’s body” kind of bad. the scuttlebutt song and the arrangement on kiss the girl was soooooo bad someone needs to tell lin manuel his head has gotten too big and he needs to actually try instead of just slapping random sounds together (encanto was so good!! why did this one sound so bad!!). and i am once again begging people to use light in their damn movies!! very frustrating that a studio that once would just invent new programs to do cgi and animation they had envisioned now just kind of half asses cgi like this…disappointing.
the only quibble story wise was that there was this kind of hanging thread of ursula being triton’s sister and eric’s mother fearing the sea gods, that are kind of dropped. like, javier bardem and Noma Dumezweni were kinda wasted emotionally. wanted the last scene where all the mermaids and people are at the shore watching ariel and eric leave to hit a little harder emotionally, and look a little cooler.
also, for all that i love eric bc he’s the only disney prince with a kill count, loved that they gave the kill shot to ariel lmao that’s my girl

so I still haven’t finished shadow & bone (currently on episode 5) but I have some grievances I need to get out…
the cr*ws being in the show is distracting and taking away screen time from the s&b storyline. before some of you fans try to stone me, I like the cr*ws, especially nina and wylan but having the whole diverging storylines (s&b and cr*ws) which go back and forth, in the first few episodes is a bit jarring and distracting for me as a viewer
then there’s the fact that the whole alina getting the amplifiers plot seems to be going way too fast and has no depth. it’s all surface level because they’re focusing more on the cr*ws. I watch the show for the grisha and the parellels that can be made between the show’s politics of discrimination against the grisha (who are seen as other/less) and the rl discrimination those of us who are minorities face. It’s unfair that we don’t get to see them go deeper into that because the screen time is being spread thin. Especially cause that should be the darkling’s main storyline but they want to focus more on “evil shadow dude is being evil with his shadows and plotting doom”
also, there’s so many damn characters, none of them really get to be fleshed out expect for the mains. i like tolya, tamar, and nikolai well enough but again, we don’t really get to see much beyond the surface level stuff. even the whole alina/nikolai thing is so superficial in that we don’t get to see their relationship flesh out aside from one or two scenes which isn’t enough. don’t even get me started on the darklina bond thing which is one of the best parts but also disappointing because I feel there could’ve been more (in terms of quality)
If the show runner only cares about the cr*ws he should’ve just told Netflix to give him the spin off show and let someone else who could do the s&b storylines justice take the reins.
you can’t make the main characters from the book that the show is based on, secondary characters and expect people to be ok with it??

This is the most ??? run in my entire FGO career...
I was intended to do a trial with Gilgamesh as my core for the event CQ, but i cleared it in 1 go, and somehow Oberon was the last standing...
I had a moment of silence after the battle, questioning my ability as a master.
