Ink, however, shares affection through touch, like hugs, kisses, snuggles, playful biting, and they LOVE PDA so they are not afraid to just, hug Error and snuggle with him in public (if Error allows it ofc) but sometimes they get too hyper and get cute aggression and just tackle hugs the glitch man in public-/pos

ink ate an ant once and states it was sour, but error also ate one and it was salty and they argue about this

error tells ink that he'll destroy him but in an affectionate way, he's expressing his cuteness aggression towards them this way

error only allows ink to touch him, he trusts them with his life

the only thing error is afraid of is that he will ruin something between them or cross ink's boundaries but ink always reassures him <3

ink also is scared of accidentally crossing errors boundaries, that he'll forget to ask for permission to touch him or something of sorts, because of errors haphephobia, but they are trying their best

also PLEASE do not call this version of Paperjam “Jammy” i’m very uncomfortable with it, just thought i should say that…

I’ll probably talk backstory and more details later if people are interested but for now, i’ll start with some details about the older of the two, Gradient :]

Created from an experiment to see if one of errors plushes could absorb a soul, Gradient is about seven years older than his brother PJ, at around 15 or 16. He wasn’t around very many people growing up, making him very socially inept except around those he already knows, like his parents, brother and people like Fresh and Palette Roller. Around people he knows, he’s often loud, crass and even cruel, through he rarely means it. He’s made a hobby out of trashing au’s, screwing up timelines and causing a little chaos. His absolute favorite thing to do though has got to be vandalizing au’s with his favorite Uncle, Fresh. Whether it’s graffiti, exploding cans of spray paint or tp’ing Fell’s house for the third time this week, it’s all in good fun. Unless you’re Fell. but that doesn’t really matter :3

His little brother, the 9 year old Paperjam, came to life by total accident. Error was trashing the antivoid, causing Pj’s doll to fall into a soul and come alive. Error wouldn’t realize for a while, causing Pj to get thrashed around. This would not only cause Ink to be overprotective of him and Error to be incredibly gentle, but it would leave him with brain damage, causing mood swings, strong emotions and issues with sleeping. Most of the time, Pj is pretty sleepy and groggy, being able to catch some Z’s in nearly any conditions, but certain things get him to essentially “snap out of it.” He’ll usually only end up happy, sad or angry, correlating to each of the colors in his design. Instead of spray paint or silly string, Pj prefers to use paint, paper, ink; the simple stuff. Him and his brother often travel to different universes together and, while Gray is filling someone’s car with bean bag beads and glitter, Pj is either taking a nap or drawing something he thinks is pretty or important, anything he finds himself caring about.

Tumblr hates me so I had to rewrite this, anyway... [Note: all my hcs ofc nothing is canon but some may be based of canon information! Sometimes I may refer to non-canon past rps :P]

Error and ink do dumb rps with his puppets together, they've made a super dramatic soap opera plot.

I think Ink realizes Error would never change and he's content with that (sigh as much as I would love to say he would).

Ink finds error's six tongues fascinating, rather than gross. In a similar way, error is fascinated by ink's star eyes (I wonder what that hc came from).

If they ever kissed it would be the most disgusting revoltingly thing ever because error doesn't know how to kiss at all and he also has 6 tongues.

If you asked them how they became friends they would just look at you and shrug. Not even they know how to happened. All they can say is they "get eachother." Error deep down has always wanted a friend and Ink gives him that. Ink is willing to deal with error's bs and error is willing to deal with ink's. Ink can feel a little lonely in his own role and among a world that is fake and Error being an outcode like hin understands him a way others wouldn't. Not even mentioning their story parallels but I gotta stop my self before I start rambling. They're some of the only people who know some of other's deep insecurities.

Ink found Error's crashes funny before he knew how absolutely painful they were. Although not sure if he would ever trigger them on purpose even before he knew ngl.

I would define them as whatever happens when you cross a friend an enemy and a partner.

Ink loves all of his shipkids and error... feels very conflicted about all of them.

They also think the other is a freaky than them when in reality they're both freaks.

Error still thinks about when Ink proposed to him at loveball, ink doesn't think about it at all. Ink also proposed to him with a ring pop that he found in the candy bowl in my head LOL.

Ink doesn't mention his dads to him .. maybe out of fear

Other people still make fun of Ink for proposing to error at loveball and ink always goes "IT WAS ONE TIME!"

Error and Ink are both quite short, Error is only a few inches taller than Ink.

Due to loveball, Error is always scared (in a playful way) when Ink starts drinking.

Error does feel guilty for the time he left ink in the antivoid. Not all of the time, but at times when hes sitting with Ink in the anti-void he can't help but reflect on it. If he would ever admit it? Probably not.

Error and ink's dancing at loveball was a beautiful disaster. Ink is actually an okay dancer but because Error was really nervous it threw him off and it was so off beat. It was really cute though, regardless.

Ink finds errorink ship art very amusing and he shows it to error just to freak him out sometimes.

Error always kills ink first in among us. Error also always blames ink as the imposter even if he isn't.

They have a "close but not too close" rule just close enough to feel the warmth of the other person but not enough to touch. (do skeletons give off warmth?). They do hold pinkies though fr fr. Also Error does lay his head in Ink's lap sometimes, typically when they're watching something. Ink may also give Error forehead or hand kisses.

I like to think Error runs quite hot, because he crashes all the time, so hes warm like a computer LOL. Ink who in my hc has a lessen sense of touch and runs sorta cold due to be soulless lovess sitting around him because of it.

Crack headcanon, when error's eyes glitch up or hes about to crash if you really listen you can hear the sound of computer fans going ham.

Ink will often just... walk up to error and put him a different outfit. Something about his being "too basic" and "his outfit has an ugly color palette".

If you know my pinkie sense ink hc Error doesn't know HOW it works but he fully believes him every single time. Even when ink is trolling, LOL!

Error and Ink call eachother "Ruru" and "Kiki" but only to annoy the other. Specifically if ink is pleading for something he'll do it to annoy him "please ruru :(" They also call eachother glitch and squid in a movking as well LOL.

They have friendship rings? platonic rings? idk if those are a thing made from blue string.

In my own error design, he has a big tooth. Because of it ink calls him a "big kitty" to make fun of him.

Younger PJ and Palette (+ some of my HCs)

A few headcanons of mine below

Parts of Palette's bones are a pale yellow color, sometimes pale lime green

Palette's favorite yogurt flavor is "Key Lime Pie," and his favorite Capri-Sun flavor is "Strawberry Kiwi" (this is unrelated, but I wanted to add them because they're personally my favorites)

PJ is an elective mute. They can talk, they have talked, and they kinda stopped after they hit 5 yrs old because they didn't wanna talk anymore. Ink was very concerned at first, but he eventually got used to it and learned ASL for him.

Whenever PJ has a younger sibling, he acts like he hates them, this never lasts long, though, as they end up sitting next to the cradle, just waiting for them to wake up.

PJ ends up teaching their siblings sign language with the help of Ink.

PJ knows some spanish thanks to Error and Undernovela.

PJ likes to bake with Ink, though they both keep getting yelled at by Blue because they eat the batter whenever they make cookies.

The paint on PJ's face moves, kinda like a lava lamp or something.

I have returned with a new Errink headcanon! This one involving the fanon Stars vs Bad Sanses while thing

Yeah Ink and Error are there and ready to fight, yeah they fight eachother... until they're out of sight

Then they just sit down and hang out until one of them is needed, gets even better since Ink just paints marks on both of them to make it look like they were fighting.

And if you wanna add a ship component to it, then on top of the previous talking and hang out; one of them lays their head in the other's lap while talking (preferably Error laying his head in Ink's since he's fine w/ contact he initiated in canon), and maybe like a peck or two... mostly because they're obviously fighting and talking and don't have time to do anything else!

in my personal hcs of how inks emotions work, i like the idea that he actually does have feelings despite not having a soul, its just so incredibly subdued that to any other person its just a constant feeling of nothingness....

its like depression to me basically. bc not only are just not happy, you also arent exactly sad or mad or anything. ur life literally loses color and leaves you dull and empty (which is very fitting to ink when hes out of his vials (meds)) it isnt like you CANT feel, its just so subtle it becomes harrowing

i also like to think that his paints do help him feel his emotions and be his true self more freely but its in a kinda weird way bc its like. lowkey an act. Or overexaggerated one way or another. Like yes the way he acts is his feelings more or less but its also something he likes playing up for the sake of being more. lively than he actually is,,

I ain’t to big on sansest ships either especially the ones that would not like each other at all but as for the ones I find less weird aka okish is afterdeath because I feel like they would have a good genuine relationship

My least favorite ship (besides dreammare!) is probably errorink or nightkills because I feel like most of all error and ink are solar opposites and have literally tried to kill each other several times even if they became friends I think shipping them is a bit much

And nightkills because I feel like that would just be so incredibly toxic and still backfire on both of them since nightmare couldn’t feed off of feelings that don’t exist I doubt he would ever see killer as more then a pawn or a friend at best and killer can’t feel anything so compassion just seems excessively weird in that way, plus even if he could feel it would be affected by those he’s around and nightmare would not be very good at bringing warm feelings

But that’s just my opinion! And a lot like you I don’t really care what people do as long as it’s not ship bashing or pro shipping

I fully headcanon that Graystripe in StarClan would just... be mates with both Millie and Silverstream because he never stopped loving either of them, and would never choose one over the other. I severely doubt that the actual books would actually do this though considering the random retconning in Silverstreams opinion of millie

I also fully headcanon that Leafpaw had a major crush on Mothwing and one of her big motivations for continuing to train and be a medicine cat is meeting Mothwing at the meetings. I love the idea that Mothwing is fully aware of her crush and finds it cute, just doesn't reciprocate it/feel anything back bc Leafpaw is a child and Mothwing isn't weird like that. Plus Leafpool still having a bit of a crush as an adult bc Mothwing is pretty as she has made very clear.

Also, take this idea: Nightheart is so mad at him being named Flamepaw bc he has black fur, but everyone is confused at this because, unbeknownst to him, his fur has a bright red shine to it when its hit by the sun and always has, which is why he was named Flamekit/paw. That idea or in the area of his back he can't see he has a little dab of ginger that looks like fire. It's more of an idea than an hc, but still wanted to share it.

Interesting. Personally I’m pretty sure Mothwing wasn’t old enough to be called an adult when she and Leafpaw first met, Moth seemed to have just gotten her name sooner, not really being noted as much older than Leafpool in any way I can recall. Also while Mothpool is good… it’s pretty stale for me tbh. It’s the Errorink of the Warriors fandom, overdone and underexplored.

Personally I think the idea of Nightheart looking like that is beautiful! And even though I haven’t even read their books yet, I’m very avid as a transfem Nightheart believer (I’m currently stopped dead in the middle of AVoS).

Error sometimes likes to make hammocks out of his strings for naps, but more often than not they get stolen by Ink.

Once Ink is asleep, he’s pretty much dead to the universe and it’s impossible to wake him up. Error’s tried everything and nothing works.

Guess Ink is an extra cushion then.

This often leads to involuntary cuddles. First time Ink latched onto him, Error almost blasted him on the spot.

Sometimes, Ink will make something in the Doodle Sphere specifically to annoy the crap out of Error. This becomes Error’s sole purpose to destroy it while Ink enjoys the show.

Despite how they both pick on each other a lot, they’re there to support each other.

On days where Error has some pretty bad days, Ink will bring him some hot chocolate and sit there with him until he’s ready to talk.

When/if Ink gets overwhelmed, Error brings Ink to the Anti-Void for a short time, just for some peace and quiet.

They gently bump their foreheads as a sign of affection.

Mess with one? The other will show no mercy.

However, they’re no better on their own. It’s like a game of cat and mouse, only the roles keep switching.

Ink will sometimes play Error’s games, just to keep some of his own sanity.

Sure, once in a while, Ink gets into some pretty bad situations. There’s been a few times he got trapped in Error’s strings and he got stuck in the Anti-Void for longer than he liked, but he always manages to escape.

Error, meanwhile, is obsessed with Ink’s power. Ink may lack a Soul, but that doesn’t mean he’ll do whatever it takes to make Ink his...

He also just wants to be taken seriously. And needs someone to talk to. Seriously, it gets kind of lonely in the Anti-Void. A lot lonely.

Ink only really puts up with it all because he really wants Error to be better, even if it’s just a little.

Ink is Yandere:

“You know, you could leave anytime you like Error, but then you’ll be all alone again. Wishing you could come find me again.”

RIP Error’s remaining sanity.

It’s so easy playing mind games with Error. Ink almost feels guilty he made Error depend on him so much. Almost.

Ink never lays a hand on him, unless he tries to break the one rule. 

“No, you’re not scared. That’s just your mind playing tricks on you again.”

Error knows something isn’t right, but he can’t figure it out. He’s not being hurt, hell, Ink never hurts him... Then why does all of this make him feel so sick?

Error forces himself to believe that Ink knows what’s best for him, but something just doesn’t feel right.

He left the Doodle Sphere once, just to get back to his old habits, but he was closed off from the Doodle Sphere for weeks until Ink just felt like bringing him back. By then, Error was a mess and clinging onto Ink when he came back.

“See? I told you that you’d want to come back. Why did you even leave in the first place? You’re lucky I’m the only one who cares for you like this.”

Yes.... He should feel lucky....

Ink, our local outgoing friendly blunt amnivert(?) gremlin eventually adopts Error as his Introverted friend. Ink was very happy when that day happened

So he goes to introduce Error to people, keeping them like 6ft away for Error's comfort since he's a good friend (..even if Error needs to remind him or say some iteration of "6ft apart or 6ft deep" for Ink to be like "Oh yeah-! You don't like that!")

I also imagine Error being pissed at someone that is Ink’s and just glaring daggers at them because idk they wronged him in the past idk, they then ask Ink "Oh Ink who's your friend..?" and Ink's like "Oh! That's just Error, he doesn't bite don't worry"

Ink's fights with Error gradually escalate to the point that they end up doing the battle pin. you know the one. heated and sexual tension and pinned to a wall and everything, and ofc ink is pinning error.

It takes Ink a few moments of staring to realize anything about love but when he does he just. can't function

ink fucking kisses him right then and there, what the hell man, ask first

But then Error leans back because of course he does

maybe it was mutual pining or some shit, maybe it was instinct

but he goes for it
