can someone explain to me like im five why these streaming services and places that rip from them will label videos as "HD" or 1080p and you look at the video specs and it is technically 1080p in that those are the width dimensions of the video but it is pixelated over as if buffering from the internet quality even when downloaded (which btw is NOT HD). like
this is pulled from an actual disc:
this is labeled as "HD" pulled from a streaming service that you pay money for:
this shit wtf is this shit
Why is macroblocked pixelated shit labeled the same as actual quality shit? Why are things that I am paying monthly for in 2024 worse than a VHS I rented from Blockbuster in 2004
I think 'cringe culture' is the next one that needs to be put up on the high shelf so people can't reach it. It's lost almost all it's intended meaning to me when people say 'cringe culture is dead' now because people use that deflect any criticism of poor behavior/bad faith takes. It's become not about, 'I like what I like, who cares!', or 'my blog, I post what I want!' and more about people expecting not only that their niche head-cannons will be respected, but that they will be validated and adopted by everyone in a ~fandom~, including creators and actors.
It's become an excuse to linger around in a fandom you've grown to dislike it and to spew negativity because, 'cringe culture is dead so I can rage about my ship not going cannon'. Because no one seems to understand anymore that they can walk away from a story at any time if it no longer makes them happy. Or even that their specific ideas for where a story should go are not necessarily even good, or the story the creators wanted to tell.
It's become a weird shield for people to wield when they are told that maybe, possibly, they may need to take a step back and log off and that it's not that deep. Cringe culture is dead so it's okay to be absolutely unhinged about something, even as a full-grown adult. There is no line between healthy enjoyment and unhinged obsession anymore cause 'cringe culture is dead!'
I think it's also fed into the whole belief that 'cannon doesn't actually matter do whatever you want!' crowd which, again, devolves into demanding that certain niche head-cannons or fannon takes are more important than cannon and people thinking it's okay and even correct to bitch at creators and/or actors.
||. finally going to bed thinking about lore - keeper asgardians . thinking about how intelligence and wisdom are one of their favored traits. thinking about how thor is the best of every asgardian ideal . thinking about how he is wise . thinking about his street - smarts . thinking about how he is also knowledgeable in legends , lore , and folktale. he is adaptable . he takes this knowledge , adapts to it , and crafts himself into something stronger. he is ever growing , and one of those ways is how he seeks out knowledge , and knows well to keep a sharp mind on the tales told by word of mouth or written on a page.
this is random well not really but i love tyler posey so much he deserves the world and i wish him nothing but the best and i hope that he is always surrounded by people who love him and have his best interests at heart <3333
So, this movie is basically just war propaganda. But like,,, funny war propaganda? World War II comedy. And honestly, it’s probably my favorite Reagan movie I’ve seen so far.
Synopsis: a WWII bomber crew is sent to bomb a German railway so they can block shipments. They get shot down 💀 and crash in Germany, killing most of their crew. A lot of them die throughout the movie. They get caught by nazis, where they accidentally see some new top secret technology and are about to be sent to a prison camp. Then, Ronald Reagan does something sneaky and they kill a bunch of nazis.
youtube
They escape and basically just have to keep moving west to try to make it back across the channel with this secret information. However, they keep getting sidetracked and go on so many different side missions that they MUST just change the entire trajectory of the war. The nazis are extremely stupid.
Rating time!
acting - it’s definitely very 40s acting, which is good, but also very,,, light?? i mean, i enjoy the acting choices but it is a WWII movie. there are also some times where there friends die (and yea it’s a lot of high stakes situations) but they really don’t spend more than a second mourning them. 5/10
plot - the plot is absurd. it’s good, it has an end goal, but almost everything that happens is just bizarre to imagine. it’s fun but NOT accurate for a 1942 war movie. 7/10
reagan - great! lots of one liners and he casually kills and bombs a lot of nazis. what a king! this is a really classic reagan character and i like his little trickeries. for being (again) a little bit absurd, 9/10
cinematography - the few special effects are fun for the period, i guess the plane and fight scenes are pretty cool, and there’s a good car chase. overall it’s a nice looking movie, i guess. 8/10
ending - spoiler alert, they get back in the end after defeating an absurd amount of nazis. it’s kinda like star wars where the nazis/stormtroopers are just SHIT at fighting. they punch a bunch of nazis and steal a plane and go back home! but of course they take about a second to mourn there friends before joking about women so it’s okay. 6/10
overall: 7/10 for a (maybe inappropriately) fun movie. a good watch, as long as you watch it critically.
speaking of which, watch it right here! https://ok.ru/video/1797581179572
Yo being mad about disney race swapping characters is dumb what im annoyed about is the weird idea that its anti feminist to want romance from a company that made a bunch of profit off of romances.. And the constant dissing that disney princesses get is rather grating .. if they were treated respectfully that would be great but no they keep being shat on by what i view as fake femisist that keep hating on fictional children. thats the issue with disney remakes they steal talking points from people hating on fictional kids its so lame
Okay I'm home now and i can fully and freely type. Anyway mild spoilers for into the spiderverse i guess?

Anyway uh. Yeah it... It was a tiny bit of a disappointment. It didn't do it for me at all. I feel like this movie is more of an art exhibit and i mean that as a fucking insult. Like sure the animation fucks my ears are ringing and my head aches horribly (that's on me for thinking i can be autistic and watch this on theaters) but like, the story man? It just so much (DEROGATORY).
It commits the sin a lot of spiderman movies make and that is that it bit more than it could chew. Not because they're bad at handling a complex story, but because they tried to juggle like 5 at once. And that never fucking works (my ear is still ringing and it hurts I'm in pain rn -_+ just wanted y'all to know)
Like it introduced SO FUCKING MUCH and it all was cool yeah! Just like electro was cool, and Harry, and Gwen, and captain Stacy. You know what in trying to fucking say? There's only so much you can do in 2 hours and you can just throw all you have all at once at the viewer because all you'll do is leave them disappointed wanting for more of that.
I feel like a baby. They show me this cool thing but nuh uh! Enough of that! Here's this new cool thing! But nuh uh! Enough of that- and so on. Like there were so many cool characters and ideas and concepts and shit but it could barely balance it all. YOU KNOW HOW BAD I WANTED TO SEE MORE OF THE SPOT?! HE BARELY WAS HERE!
It's like, you cannot fucking make a whole movie as the introduction to your next movie. That just sucks. You're setting yourself up for failure.
Like I'm just so upset bc it was full of amaizing things but it didn't fucking deliver in any of them!!!! And God don't get me started on the references. I think this was one of the worst ways to fill your movie with references. Like at least let me fucking process what I'm seeing if you are gonna waste so much time here, but also just... Don't make it so fucking blatant.
Like man i... This was a very experimental spiderman movie which i appreciate in a way but... It's not what I was expecting. To me, personally, it was disappointing. And also not designed at ALL to watch on cinemas. I think that last bit is just a fact.
I'm just kinda sad man. Like i loved Miles and Gwen's drama and i loved Miguel but I also wanted to see more of, you know, THE WHOLE FUCKING NEW CAST AND THE NEW FUCKING VILLAIN THEY INTRODUCED BUT SHOWED ONLY FOR LIKE 2-3 SEGMENTS MAX???????
LIKE HANDS ON HEAD EMOJI WHAT WERE THEY DOINGGGGG 😭😭😭😭
it’s such a problem when i watch 20th century period films & [9 times out of 10] ALL the characters are smoking tobacco to some extent. i spend the whole runtime craving a cigarette then when it’s over i step outside & chainsmoke for like. 15 min. like a fool. i fall victim to big tobacco every damn time. they play me like a gd fiddle
