originally the opening scene where mb disables its governor module and names itself felt weird to me, but knowing that mb still got refurbished and has fucky memories makes me think that scene is maybe what mb is telling itself what happened and could be an entirely fictitious, unreliable narrator scene which kinda fucks, esp for people who havent read the books and dont know what happened at ganaka pit

i honestly love public speaking esp if it's for my textile work i love teaching i love talking and i like to make people laugh and i think i'm good at conveying my warmth and humour to people when i talk. i've been told i'm a good teacher and pleasant to learn from and patient with students. the only complaint i ever get is that i'm too quiet esp when teaching elderly people & others with hearing loss, i can't project my voice big enough in those situations and i think it's a mental block i have because i've always been very shy and i used to have debilitating social phobia and that's one of my last holdovers in that regard. i'm good at speaking with people with hearing loss 1 on 1 without being patronizing because poppy was 90% deaf for most of my life but talking into someone's good ear and modulating my voice a bit while standing next to them is different from talking to a room full of people. i think i should get one of those lapel mics or something to amplify my voice whenever i start teaching again

if i had to start w a criticism of murderbot tv, i dont understand not starting it en media res like the book. like its immediately engaging to get people invested. i know people might need to like know secunit's name or whatnot but also. the show is called murderbot. thus far there is only one "bot" character. the audience can extrapolate

like i feel starting with the moment it hacks its governor module really takes the wind out of 1. gurathin's reveal of mb's past? and also 2. Any Future Season.. all of artificial condition is about secunit learning abt its past like it just doesnt matter as much if both mb and the audience know as much abt it as the show portrays

i did like the little bits of character they give presaux before the fauna attack, esp since asr is so scant on details bc secunit like. doesnt give a shit lol so im not sure how to balance having both. but im not a scriptwriter and i dont claim to be. i imagine starting at the same place as the book would lead to a lot of like flashback sequences which dont always land well

IF i had my way tho, the perfect opening would go like this:

it literally just starts with an episode of sanctuary moon, no context. that plays just long enough for the audience to get confused when mb's alerts break across the screen and it jumps into action to save arada and bharadwaj

on the whole im still gonna watch and am liking it enough so far!! like any adaptation there are new things i like and new things i might just have to adjust to

i think soba would like splatfests. all the colour and noise and smell and people just hanging around chatting.

octavio is usually the one watching over it, since craig doesnt really like staying in the city for too long, deep cut and the sisters are performing, and everyone else is fighting in the event.

he buys it snacks, finds the best spots to watch the fireworks and the performances. soba sometimes wanders off into the square but hes close by enough to keep an eye on it.

ppl dont really ask it questions abt its appearance. they ask about which team it thinks will win, where it thinks the best food stalls are, they ask if its having fun with the event, would you like to ride on my shoulders to see the performance better?

it had friends underground too. cq and iso padre always looked out for it. deadf1sh let it listen to their tracks and treated it kindly. tartar... well. he loved them, but not in the right way.

but here? they have a community. strangers aren't strangers for long. the inklings and octolings don't care that it looks different, they only care about what team it supports.

Honestly i think it would do her a lot of good being single for a minute. At least publically her romantic relationships have always been a large part of her image when they dont have to be. Ive seen more famous celebs have relationships bt have more privacy when compared to Kaia n how she operates. Constantly being in relationships (and possibly having them overlap), to me shows u cant be alone. I doubt she'll do it though n will quickly move on whenever her n Lewis breakup

From some of her interviews I do think she wants to b taken seriously as a celebrity and esp as a actor. If shes actually serious about acting she needs to get some more acting classes (with a different coach), focus on her work and lower the amount of pap pics or lessen the amount of times she goes to pap heavy areas. She has the "look" and connections to get roles bt bt the acting talent just isnt there. Im curious how far it will get her in Hollywood if the people watching her projects are criticize her acting. Looking at all the comments for her new new Ryan Murlhy lead were very telling

for me, one of the kaia's main problem when acting is her monotonous tone of voice, so i think she should hire a good acting teacher and a vocal coach to learn how to modulate her voice and be able to play her characters correctly.

I buy about 2/3 (estimate) of everything i own secondhand just for financial reasons so i don't too often go down the road of worrying about Plastic Consumption, esp bc my parents have been doing that since the 90s and i came with that module pre-installed and idrk how to keep it from fritzing in the direction of "i should kill myself"

but a couple months ago i made the mistake of buying a VIP Pets doll new for about $10 and this thing had the most unbelievably wasteful packaging i have ever met in my life, like, a huge tube 3x the size of the doll, opens from the bottom, is UGLY, doesn't stand upright so can't be decorative, can't be put back together so can't be used to store anything. it's a fucking abomination even among doll packaging which is a unique evil in the packaging industry.

anyway i think we should build better descriptors for how consumer activism induces like, eating disorder analogues for shopping, like the binge-purge cycle of "bad product" orthorexia -- it's so stupid to act like it's as simple as Not Buying XYZ lmao when human brains react to this the same way as they do everything else. many tumblr users will take a break from posting about demand avoidance to issue unilateral demands they know will induce breakdown. About the new chapter, I'm sorry, but I absolutely hate how the Kushan capital is fine and dandy. It's such an asspull and contradicts the established fact that civilization can't exist outside of Falconia. Worst of all it makes Griffith look less justified in his quest. I was rolling my eyes the whole chapter bc it really looks like they're going for a boring good vs evil conflict. Kinda creepy how there's no women and children in the Kushan capital tho, esp given Ganishka's Demon Womb.

lol I'm torn on how to respond to this bc like, these are all pretty legit complaints, I'm just kinda beyond caring myself. I've modulated my expectations a lot to stay positive so I can enjoy the good things while braced for a lot of minor irritations, so I found the chapter overall better than I expected.

Though it's funny, I did privately rant about the Kushan capital not being overrun by monsters until I re-read and saw that it was addressed (Silat saying they've dealt with so much war and upheaval that it's barely worse now lol.) Still an asspull, but at least one the writers seem aware of lol. So I do feel you there, it does seem kind of stupid and overly convenient.

And to be fair we're on one side of the narrative and being set up for a conflict with the other side, so it makes sense for the characters to frame it in terms of good vs evil. I still have hope that it'll be less clear cut than that. Maybe not super high hopes lol, and I mean I'm a little disappointed that like, eg we didn't have some people at the Kushan leaders council thing arguing in favour of joining Falconia or proposing peace treaties and trade agreements or whatever, but yk. I can understand the writing choices for the sake of streamlining things, imparting the relevant information and getting to the next conflict where more interesting things can hopefully happen.

Maybe if Miura was still writing it there'd be more nuance, but then I've also criticized his own storytelling in the Fantasia arc so maybe not.

We can always hope the next chapter gets more interesting and complicated with Raksas's appearance, I guess.

Firstly, this post isn't aimed at people who don't rly have an opinion about BALTEUS nerf, or is disappointed that it isn't as hard but it won't affect their opinion of the game in general. If you are these people, it's not aimed at you I promise

Possibly petty and unpopular but I'm mid annoyed by people (mostly in social media and comments so maybe I shouldn't pay attention to them anyway 😅) who claim Balteus is super easy now and how Fromsoft "ruined a good game because gaming journalists, now *casuals* wouldn't get filtered out like it was intended, I want immediate rollback, gonna uninstall" and base their claim at them defeating it easily with chapter1 gears and OS tunes off

1. Yeah, you downgraded your AC, but your game knowledge didn't. You played multiple playthrough of ac6, your gameplay knowledge is miles above than at the point where you faced it first, if you want to claim you as a player learnt nothing while playing ~NG++ of ac6 and your muscle memory didn't adapt at all, congrats, your gamer learning ability is abysmal

2. I am pretty sure fromsoft didn't do this because of a few gaming journalists who complain that it's too hard lmao, if they actually give into whatever western fringe reviewers say we'd had easy mode in ER (easy mode is another discourse in video gaming that's its own can of worms esp. in Fromsoft games, I don't want to deride the convo so I won't go into it) Hardcore gamers may be a bit too absorbed in their clique of fellow aficionados, they don't realize that there are a lot of casuals who got stuck at Balteus, or, more importantly, didn't even try to purchase the game because they saw a streamer struggling or heard the general gamer gossips that Balteus is some Great Filter, maybe the gamedevs want more people to try their games?

Because I assure you, for people who didn't play any FS games at all, or maybe just played ER, it'd not be easy. If you think only high skilled players are allowed to enjoy this game...well, I disagree.

Maybe WE want more people to play this game because this game offers a lot more experience than that mindset? This is a mecha genre game that doesn't get such outputs as actions of other fantastical settings.

3. The perceived difficulty level suddenly dropping after Balteus and not really escalating into the realm of filter-like until you reach CEL (because let's face it Sea Spider wasn't as much bemoaned as BALTEUS) suggests that maybe release patch BALTEUS was a bit harder than their intention. Fromsoft producer's tweet about the patch specifically says they intended to modulate the difficulty level in early to mid game.

4. This is a specific gripe to people who act dramatically that less missile barrage means the boss is giganerfed: if you're so ignorant of the boss mechanics to think missiles make Baltie hard how did u even got past it

It was similar when Radahn in ER was nerfed too, lol, Fromsoft in recent years gave us pretty enjoyable games, but the maturity level of some people in the fandom is disappointing even for a video game fandom
