"This is some gay shit" Good. Silly. Fair enough. Doesn't inherently invalidate other interpretations of the relationship. Honestly yeah, it is kind of gay regardless of their canonical relationship status

every life series season has a villain, but not in the way you might think. it's always a symbol of some kind. it's not a person, but a concept, an ideal, an overarching force. that is, in every season except wild life
third life had circumstance. everything was new and hard to grasp, and no one knew what to do. the villain of third life was the world itself; think of the animal extinction, for example.
last life had brutality. both physically and mentally. it was rife with betrayal and isolation; reds had to abandon teams, and the boogeyman mechanic's paranoia forced everyone apart.
double life had love. love, and the fate it tangled itself in. it was a complex villain, but love killed them again and again, and rewarded the single person who didn't give in to it.
limited life had time. the passage of time itself was the enemy and everything was driven by that. they clawed their way to every last second, and time ate them all in the end.
secret life had the secret keeper. unyielding, unrelenting, unmoving, all-knowing. when the secret keeper forced them to do awful things, no one disobeyed, but hated it all the same.
wild life has grian. grian is representative of every wild card the world plays. he runs the command, and stops it at the end of the day. he is transparent about that. he accepts bribes for information, and unabashedly uses his knowledge to his advantage. he is Other. the players treat him the exact way they did the secret keeper; he's not a player like them this season, he's a symbol, and one of every awful thing that's happened to them at that
which is to say, wild life's villain is a symbol and an overarching force. it's just, for the first time, simultaneously a person, too. everyone else is realizing that too and are pointing their blades at grian, slowly but surely. it is SO fascinating

"why does fanon love making Jason care about his goons when he kills them in canon" I'm sorry to tell you that Jason's Robin run is a significant work for his characterization. And that Willis Todd was in fact a goon. Like, that's a significant thing that happened.
(jaybin fans exist not every Jason fan is a hardcore UTH fan who thinks everything about Winick's writing is pure and just and the right way)

for no reason in particular i would like to remind people that being autistic does not mean you can reclaim the r slur and that it is specifically a slur targeted at intellectually disabled people. stop fucking saying you can use the slur just because you have autism. that is not our word. if you are not intellectually disabled, you do not say that word. not to mention, it's a slur that really is not reclaimable right now. stop being obsessed with saying every slur possible, it's fucking weird.

hey if you're writing an oc/hc with a disability please don't tag every fucking post you mention them in with the awareness tags for said disability? or the actually[condition] tags?? you're clogging up the spaces we use to communicate. it's rude, even more so when it's a rare condition

I see a lot of people get so mad they pop blood vessels over things that just do not materially matter at all on this website. Like dude I don't think it's that deep if someone ships themselves with the wrong fictional characters or whatever. My bills are due bro. If no one real or living is getting hurt i can express to you how little I give a fuck about it. And frankly you shouldn't be giving this much of a shit. Your bills are due too. If you are getting this angry on the internet about other people who are not hurting anybody real or living either learn to mind your own business or consider getting offline for a while because it's making you very mad about something that just does not matter.

Do any of the other characters even like Buck at this point??? They all have such a low opinion of him.
It's like they're all stuck on who he was at a different time in his life, whether it be s1e1!Buck, or lawsuitera!buck or even just kid!Buck and none have them have moved past it or actually forgiven him.

Something something, sometimes the CRK fan base is too serious/protective over some ships, especially PureLily! Just saying that if you do not like another person's taste in ships, don't make your reasoning for it be “because it's not canon”
This mostly goes to the PureLily shippers. As much as we love the ship, it's not canon. In fact, we'd argue that ElderLily has more canonical romantic undertones
Bonus!! Even though we don't ship romantic ShadowVanilla

Reminiscing this morning about some of the top-tier Veilguard Critical takes that I’ve seen
“They didn’t show slavery enough” We’ve been over this one enough I think but like. Ok sorry you didn’t get your white savior narrative?
“Tevinter is racist why didn’t they use slurs!” Fun fact: There’s a lot of racist people that know not to be blatant about it via the use of slurs! Also why do you want to be called slurs?
“Veilguard isn’t an RPG because it didn’t allow me to roleplay!” Ok so 1) you don’t know what an RPG is. And 2) Veilguard, a game that is constructed in the same manner as all 4 Mass Effect Games, DA2 AND DAI, is not an RPG even though ALL of those other games are? What is the justification here?
>An extension of this one, the person who tried to tell me that Final Fantasy 7 wasn’t an RPG. Still turning that one around in my head.
And my personal favorite that was not widespread but lives in my head rent free: “RPGs aren’t supposed to have themes”. This take was so baffling it belongs in “graphic design is my passion” meme territory

i'm sorry, but the atla fandom is the only place where i've ever seen people unironically use a 12 year old telling his friend that killing someone out of grief is maybe a rash decision and not healthy to argue that that same 12 year old is being controlling and is an unhealthy partner
you guys know that murder is like....a bad thing....right? especially for a 14 year old? you guys know that revenge murder isn't a healthy strategy? you guys know that anyone who would encourage that is probably actually the unhealthy one in that scenario...right??

Continues to be baffling to me how much of the CR fandom refuses to understand that, by the end of C1 (and frankly way earlier in that campaign than many people realize) Vax’s vow to the Raven Queen was totally voluntary, important and meaningful to him, and not something he wanted a trick or lawyer to “get him out of.”
I guess it surprises me to still see this because an intense disagreement about this was perhaps the biggest point of contention (and indeed one of the most interesting parts) of Vax and Keyleth’s relationship. I loved the disconnect they had about it as characters and that they stayed together in spite of it. (It’s part of what made me such a fan of Vaxleth as a romantic story.) But the Vax side of that disconnect they had about faith and fate and the gods seems to have been totally lost in the fandom memory of the campaign.
Vax does not see his service to his goddess as something he would need “rescuing” from and he would resent the assumption. De-orbed Vax would probably first go back to his duty and service, because that was meaningful to him. Breaking the rules a few times to try to save Keyleth doesn’t negate that, it’s just on-brand for a character who wore his heart on his sleeve and often made brash decisions to protect people he loved without thinking it through.

watching an entire group of people infantilize buck and demonize a gay male character is honestly so frustrating to watch because this is a grown ass man in his 30s and his entire relationship with taylor was incredibly sexual in nature, especially at the start, yet no one was called predatory or creepy or overly sexual but tommy makes an innocuous comment about his boyfriend being attractive and suddenly pearls are being clutched
the willful misunderstanding taking place is vile and horrifying because people are doing mental gymnastics just to try to prove that this character is some great villain while spouting so much conservative right wing rhetoric that you'd fit right in at any sunday potluck in texas
do better, or at the very least shut the hell up
