Hi Everyone,

Hope you all are doing great! I was swamped with office work and so disappeared totally. Today I will talk about the coming festive season here in Kolkata.

It's that time of the year where the countdown starts for "Durga Pujo". It's a grand festive season in Kolkata and if anyone of you come and visit the city during this time you will feel the whole city is up for a Grand Wedding. The lights are up, the pandals are made, there are decorations, there are food stalls at every inch of the street and then their is CROWD. Oh boy! the city looks magnificent.

This Sunday, the 25th of September 2022, will be Mahalaya, the "Agomoni of Debi Pokkho" we call in Bengali which is we are praying to Maa Durga to come to her home. Isn't it great! The feeling, the culture, the history and the customs which are followed.

Every household in Bengal either turns on the Radio or now Youtube for that matter and listens to Mahalaya at 4am in the morning. It has been a custom and ritual that we follow since maybe decades.

The Agomoni is so beautiful and pure that anyone who is in the city can feel it. Even though the city has its own struggle and hardships but during this time everyone forgets about it and just enjoy these days to the fullest. They eat whatever they want, they do pandal hopping, wear beautiful clothes. Few people wait for these days and save the entire year just to have enough to spend and enjoy these days.

Durga Pujo in Bengal is not just a festival it's an EMOTION!

Happy New Year!!!

I woke up at around 8am. Alam ko nakatulog na ako around 2am. Before that sinalubong namin ang bagong taon na kami lang at wala yung mga iba naming family members because of COVID maraming mga family gatherings na naudlot. I miss new year celebrations with the whole fam.

So ayun, pag gising ko chikahan kami ng mga tita ko. Kinwento namin ang nangyari kagabi kasi nga muntik ng matamaan si tita at lolo ng paputok. Pumasok kasi sa terrace. Ay nako! Nakakagalit lang!

After breakfast, nagpunta kami kina tita Lyn. Gusto ko lang kasing kulitin ang pamangkin ko. Cute kasi ni Isay. Sarap panggigilan. Haha!

Bumili rin pala ng cellphone yung kapatid. Proud ako sa kanya kasi kahit na nag-aaral sya e kumikita na siya.

Wala lang. Sobrang saya ko pa rin nitong new year kasi yung matagal ko ng pinagdadasal ay unti unti ng natutupad...

Nakapag usap na sina lolo at tatay ko after my mom passed away 4 years ago. Salamat kasi everything is healing. Truly, time heals everything. I hope this is a start of something peaceful and good relationships. And this had me crying and jump with joy at the same time. The way my Papa said i love you to my lolo...hayyy Lord you always surprise me. Thank you!

I'm hoping for a better and a healthy year for all of us!

PS. Will try to write everyday so I can look back at the end of the year.

Hello world

We decided to create this blog for a few reasons: 1) create accountability in writing each day 2) begin to document our experiences within the world we live in and 3) provide an outlet for reflection on these experiences. The goal is to make a post each day for the next 30 days (to start, hopefully longer). No upper or lower word limit, just whatever happens as our busyness* ebbs and flows.

HOW HAVE I GOT HERE?

A Reflection on my overall progress in preparation for the Final Major Project.

In the past several months, I have completed many projects with different media and techniques. 

The one method I definitely love to apply in each project is drawing and sketching. I love illustrating the ideas immediately on paper in oder to document it for further development, especially in early stages. Color pencils and water colors are always my best partners in my sketchbook. Although they are convenient for visualizing ideas, it is too weak for serving a final work. 

I felt comfortable when I handle with printing methods like risography and mono print, they are really visually appealing and easy to conduct. Though I have never tried screen printing and more printing methods, I would like to learn it if they fits well for the project idea. I also really like to work in Adobe illustrator. But I’m still not confident enough with typography design (logo design as well). I would like to learn more about design skills for real industry. They are vital parts of modern ways of visual communicating. Also they can be a important part of certain form of works such as campaigns. Talking about campaign project, I felt it is a difficult task for me. I am not good at provoking something (or revealing). I will practice expressing my ideas confidently in my daily life. I like time-based media, like photography, film and animation. For photography, I started to look at few fashion photographers after entering foundation. They are really good at conveying an ideology by portraying and modeling. Film and performing is a great way of communicating for sure. I enjoy some film that use contemporary dance as a medium. But film-making is expensive and time-consuming. Lastly, zine and book, which I always love to use, can be really impressive media if you got strong pieces of image. 

Currently I am looking forward to experimenting with ceramic, laser cutting and computer programming (Cinema 4D), either of them I have never tried before.

The documenting of exploring process is a weak part for me. I always forgot to record every details of my idea development. Thus start from today, I am going to convert my ideas into words in this blog!

Today I had no motivation to study at all + work was very stressful. But that is okay, sometimes you have those days and that is fine.

Whatssss up pipol? Another week another blog. Hows everybody? I hope you are all happy and safe.

For this weeks update, nothings new. I am just busy sending applications to different companies. Hopefully I will be hired before my birthday. Lets claim it. t was like I am starting from the scratch but it was really good because I learned a lot. Aside from that, I also suscribed to linkedin premium and started to watch and learn courses which is very helpful. And I finally received my very first credit card yesterday. Yeheyyy! I am so happy. Honestly speaking, it was one of my many wishes but of course I will use it for emergency only. I also have time to clean our house, when you say clean, deep clean. Hahaha

And also, I am always praying to God to remove the pain and anger in my heart. And HE did. Thank you God. How about you? What are your everyday prayers?

Day 3

Hi Everyone,

How you guys are doing today? Hope everyone is doing great. Thankfully I am a lot better since yesterday. 

Today’s blog is about something which I wanted to put across for a long time now. As you guys must be aware of that #Brahmastra will be releasing soon and so everyone is giving a lot of interviews be it Alia, Ranbir or even Ayan. I recently watched out of their interview where Ranbir said something about “phaloid” and that created a trend I believe.

Being a very responsible citizen and a supporter of women myself and definitely not from a fan perspective, I would like to say that we should cut some slack to the people who belong from the Entertainment industry. I know being on the other side of the web it is really very easy to point out and comment on the smallest details that the celebs put forward but they also are normal human being guys. 

Ayan, Alia and Ranbir are very close group of friends and the environment might have been such that Ranbir might have just casually said it which we all do when we are with our people. I am happy to see that he apologized for his words but that was sure not his intention. The point I am trying to make here is, the ruckus which was created was not required.

I feel, nowadays always speaking correctly has become a trend maybe. Nobody wants to be incorrect in anyway. We are humans right, we all do mistakes and that is okay I believe.

Why is this so overrated nowadays is the big question, specially for the people who belong to the Entertainment industry.

Just FYI to all-- I do not belong to the entertainment industry neither I am friend with anyone of them. I am just a software engineer who love to watch movies and follow various news. I felt somebody was required to highlight this topic. It is just not about RK, it is about anyone who maybe at that moment might have said anything which was because of the circumstances.

My Obssession... [ 01 ]

I am obssessed with Pikachu.

I am obssessed wth Pikachu becasue of many reasons.

He is massivily adorable.

He is one of the first generations.

He is more adorable when he is chubby (before he got skinny).

He is one of Ash’s first Pokemon.

And the last of all, he is my first amazing present...

I got my first Pikachu toy (plush) when I was still 0, I got him on  my very first Christmas, Thursday 25th December 1997. I slept with him, I took him everywhere, he got covered in filith and he is one of my long lasting toys. He is just the best toy I ever got and kept from my childhood.

He is 19 years old, will turn 20 this year.

The only thing that I don’t have from him no more is the voice box. The reason is because I removed it, I cut it out. It didn’t work no more anyways, even with new battery’s, it still didn’t work. But that’s not rhe reason ‘why’ I removed it though, it’s basically because when I was sleeping, I kept hitting it and waking up with a headache or a red mark due to it, it wouldn’t stay inside him no more, and everytime I dropped it, it kept hitting my toes and that hurt like hell. So, I gave up,and cut it ut. But I cut it out last year, 2016. So, it lasted very long.

He still here with me, he is next to my pillows where I sleep, on my bed. I don’t sleep with him no more, I just keep him on my bed because.... It just feels wrong without him not being there.

I know, people will read this and say “what a big baby” but to be honest, everyone still has one of their very old toys that they have had since they we’re babies or kids. No one gets rid of all of their childhood memories.

Plus, it’s not just me who loves him... Lilith (my puppy) loves him so much. She loves Pikachu! She cuddles up to him sometimes, while we’re sleeping and I find it adorable and cute. People always says “don’t let your dog go near your toys, they will get destroyed” but, mine doesn’t... She just cuddles up to him because it smells like me, so she won’t ever destory him.

I don’t watch Pokemon no more, not since the first generation. I prefer the first generation that the others, just because they look more cuter to be honest.

Hehe.

But I will be collecting more Pikachu things.

At the moment I have that first Pikachu that I just told you about, and a load of others. Such as, Pikachu bag, Pikachu pillow, Pikachu (used to be) shampoo or bodywash soap pot, Pikachu hat, Pikachu cushion, Pikachu collectible cards, Pikachu collectible card case, Piakchu I Phone 4 case and Pikachu slippers.

But, I’m planning on getting loads more (and yes, I am gonna blog about it).

Hehe.

But yeah, that’s my obssession.

Cat-A-Tonic I have always been a dog person. I grew up with dogs you see. My grandpa (veterinarian) always had tons of dogs at his place. So I assumed I was a dog person. As I grew up, my love for animals grew as well. From dogs, I graduated to horses, cows, elephants and pretty much every creature on this planet. I aligned my beliefs of food, fashion and lifestyle to this very same love. However I was always weary of cats. Ofcourse I was fond of them but never thought I would keep them as pets or even pet one. As I now live in Bombay, I have seen an uncountable amount of love for cats. Being a port city with plenty of fish, these felines thrive here on the love of fish and hoomans. At first I was a little sad that there were not many stray dogs viz a vie stray cats here. However all that changed when me and my partner adopted two kittens. Sonic & Stella- the catatonic love of my life now. Now I have moved on to foster, love and feed cats, dogs and every being alive. I pride myself on being an 'animal person' as opposed to a dog/cat person. This ability to expand my mind and welcome change has only come to me through the profound growth that #yoga has brought in my life. The surge inside you is inexplicable. You cannot point a finger on it and say this is it. It simply shows up. I honour my practice of yoga today to the mind which has expanded to love all beings alike. From the tiniest to the largest. From the mightest to the meakest. From the indifferent to the most dependent. From the unconditional to pure selfless. Honor your fellow beings today.
