Saw some of the grossest parenting today in the bus

#this dad was on his phone the whole bus ride ok #and his two kids were screaming arguing #at most he would periodically tell them to lower their voice while still on his phone #one time he told them to stop the one sitting next to him hit him 😭 and he went back to look at his phone with no reaction #my guy something is seriously wrong with you #your kids are screaming at each other doesn't even matter all that much that we are in the bus rn #theyre not just being loud kids you need to do smt!!!!!! its too early for this!!! i could hear them even with my noise cancelling headphone #anyways #ive never seen smt like this #and i work in a mall i see lots of parents and kids #idk smt really disgusting about a parent just not even interested in engaging with their kids #dude no wonder they're loud they probably want ur attention #also this one lady once who came in wjth a big stroller #and the store where i work has little moving rooms between the aisle so this woman decided TO LEAVE THE STROLLER WITH A KID INSIDE AT THE #FRONT OF THE STORE #the kids started crying and his hrother (toddler not in the stroller but not following the mom for some reason) started exploring and i #i had to watch them until the mom came back but like the woman just left them there???#i just stepped in but what if i hadnt??? lady?????????#i see lots of cute interactions of course #like this little girl who came with who i think is her grandpa and he asked me to help her chose her next manga read 😭💖#i basically work in a book/toy store #theres a lot of candy as well the kids love it #idk i like seeing kids being happy ok it is healing #like all the kids sitting on the floors deep in their books while the parents shop 😭😭😭 makes me smile every time top tier behavior

#i just think yuta plays takashi kokubo's music bc it helps him sleep/have a peaceful time #i really tried to nail the average japanese self-help book cover vibe lol i hope i did #ive drawn toge reading skip to loafer before so naturally he also reads hirayasumi #which i highly recommend for slice of life enjoyers by the way #kinda regret drawing toge's cursed speaker bc i think i could have drawn something else that showed his personality more #well ill say it here #it would have been a personal planner/journal plastered with splatoon and panda stickers #the stickers are slipped in between the cover and a protective sleeve he does not stick them directly onto the planner itself #it must be said #ive also talked about this before in another artwork but toge takes his stationary very seriously #the first years have observed this and actually chipped in to get a expensive gift card from his favorite stationary store for his bday #they also know which store because they all go on shopping trips ! and that's canon #as you can see i have a lot to say about this and i love it. brainrot is a wonderful thing #in contrast to toge enjoying cooking at home maki is a restaurant/cafe connoisseur #she enjoys eating toge's food too but really finds joy in eating out and exploring all the food tokyo has to offer. mostly unhealthy food #that's why yuta looks out for chances to get food coupons and brochures about new eateries in the city #a thoughtful person to his friends #he's always thinking of them #ok im done for now but i have more to say. will continue in another post lol #thank you for reading !#ottoge #inuokko #inumaki toge #inumaki #okkotsu yuuta #okkotsu yuta #yuuta #jjk #jujutsu kaisen #art

I think people, even leftists, have this idea that children cannot ever be exposed to the concept of sex because it ‘breaks’ them. Maybe not in those exact words. But the whole idea of corruption of innocence is essentially just “if child sees Bad Thing™️ then child is forever damaged” and like. I hate to break it to you but kids will discover sex and sexual pleasure no matter how sheltered they are.

Like. Kids discover masturbation on their own all the time. It just happens. Adults prey on children. It just happens. Making it illegal to even hint at the concept of sex to anyone under the age of 16/18/21/whatever does not protect those individuals from discovering sex and physical pleasure. Either through innocent self exploration or being abused.

It’s a complex topic. I get it. But pretending it doesn’t exist does not even remotely protect children. Like. Sorry not sorry. But it’s not like children are some pure substance that can be forever tainted by learning about penises and vaginas and sex and orgasms but once they hit the magic right age that will no longer happen.

#ani rambles #anyways I’m just. pissed #mostly about how the internet is treated as a place that needs to be safe for children to explore completely unsupervised #when just about nothing in the real world is treated that way #like. book stores have ‘adult’ sections but if some parent just dropped their kid off at a book store #and that kid found their way to the adult section and picked up fifty shades of grey #the book store isn’t to blame. it’s the parent who went ‘go nuts my 6 year old offspring. I’ll pick you up in a couple hours.’

I went to visit my friend in Louisiana and they took me to this antique shop and we found a 157 year old children’s book that is FOR SURE haunted af

So obviously I bought it and it’s coming home with me

New spirit pal!

#they’re super connected to the spirit world and said something was def attached to it #I roll on vibes alone and when I held it felt the gut instinct that it needed to come home with me #so now me and my new bud are headed home #hopefully it’s just a positive little guy eager to explore #the energy of the book was less intense once we’d gotten it out of the store and with us #it was only $37 #it’s not in the best condition ever but honestly a crazy good condition for being old as fuck #it was clearly well loved and appreciated #I can’t stop thinking about a little boy 157 years ago reading this ever night #each page well worn and loved #each line something meaningful to him then and me now #also there was a name on the inside which is who we are thinking is attached to it #that’s why I’m saying him but maybe I should just say them #don’t want to misgender my new spirit pal accidentally #good vibes #books #antique store #ghosts #spirits #writing

ok so that butternut squash pasta was this week’s submission for the super-easy plant-based recipe book project & I’m only required to add one per week. but for some reason I’m feeling really into cooking at the moment and I want to ride that wave yknow?? the next easy recipe I want to tackle is shakshuka (for brunch this weekend?) followed by loubieh bi zeit (lebanese green bean stew) + pita bread from scratch, which I think will be next week’s recipe(s) for the project.

anyone trying to argue fanfic is inherently better than the films, books, and other stories they originate from i just KNOW doesn’t actually watch movies or read or engage with anything outside their favorite ao3 tags

#fanfic just gets into DEEPER THEMES that a blockbuster CANT #like. i get what u mean. sometimes fanfic DOES do that #i just hate when people believe that its impossible for film— especially movies meant to be blockbusters— cant carry strong themes or #dig deep into their own canon #like yeah i could almost agree with that. fanfic DOES have the ability to explore parts of canon that the source material hasnt #(altho sometimes canon doesnt spell everything out to you for a little thing called INTERPRETATION and NUANCE)#but i think that rather than treating fanfiction like a fun side thing and actually arguing its better than what it stems from is just #another symptom of the dumbing down of media ive seen recently #where the majority of the biggest films are products of disney and media conglomerations that value money making formulas over creative #and new stories #like i get it. top box office hits of this year are sequels and prequels and remakes (talking abt usa)#and places like barnes and noble and amazon bookstore would rather create a real life booktok store rather than showcase or even HOLD IN #STORE books that are not getting talked to death online #but if you for one second bother to try and find something other than what youre being sold you will find some WONDERFUL STORIES #watch a foreign film. read a book about a different time or place #go to your closest newbury comics or local record store and buy a fucking cassette tape and throw that shit in your walkman because youve #never seen the band before #i get so frustrated sometimes because people refuse to branch out from fucking fanfiction and marvel movies and spotify top ten #which is FINE. things are popular for a reason. but if youre finding that the most emotionally moving and deepest thing youve read all year #is fanfiction. then i fear you simply have no standards for art #captain’s log #sorry but i saw a lame post here (fanfic is deeper than canon) and got annoyed so i went to tiktok (saw a video that was like remember the #twitter drama this year that said it was ablist to READ) and so i left tiktok and came back here and saw ANOTHER annoying post along the #same lines and it just. never fucking ends

I wrote a drabble based off of that lesbian coming of age book my acquaintance wrote. Sorry to disappoint, it is not about the lesbians.

#It’s focused on the guy in the lesbians friend group who got rejected by his crush (because she’s a lesbian ((she figured that out a chapter #before because she meet this girl at a clothing store)))#And then the guy gets upset(sad not angry) and then he just gets swept under the rug the rest of the book #I think it would be interesting to explore his emotions 🤷‍♀️#When I say lesbian friend group I mean it #It’s the main girl her gf and the other girl and then also him #And also at the same time main girls mom is trying to ungay her and is getting violent about it #The guy would feel so heart broken but then feel bad about it because he respects that his friend/crush is gay and also that his other #friend is getting all this bad stuff happening to her BECAUSE she’s gay #it would be fun character exploration
