some time ago i made the connection that as maggots are baby flies, this means that as a fly in hallownest, sly was probably also raised in the same environment as false knight, which answers many questions and begs even more. the end result of all of that theorizing is this almost 10k fic!!!

please be aware that this fic gets into the maggot lore and so includes discussion about chattel slavery and everything it entails; check the tags & extra warnings in the foreword so you make sure you know what you’re getting into! this is Mostly a fic about how hallownest treated its lower classes very badly, so tpk fans please be aware that the only person in-story with anything nice to say about him is hollow.

this is part of my go the fuck to mimir series, i.e. character studies with a shared framing device which are set during hollow & radiance’s concentric solitary confinement, and feature radiance telling them stories about the darker side of hallownest to challenge their hard-line pro-pale court mindset/give them something to concentrate on besides what’s happening to their body irl/not go insane herself from frustration re: Everything.

this one’s set a couple decades into government assigned sun jail; hollow’s enmity is at 150% and their confusion is at about 60% whereas radiance’s enmity has climbed from 0% to about 30% and her annoyance level is at about 200%.
