change: Has your OC ever drastically changed their appearance? Significant haircuts, big tattoos, complete wardrobe swap, etc? Why? How do they feel about the change?

Oh, Jamie has changed a lot over the years. Exceptionally so. From the time they were a child, to their young adult years, to their early neath days, to now, theyve experienced many rapid fashion shifts.

As a child Jamie didnt really have much options in how they dressed - they had what they were given by the orphanage and the school, and that was it. The Matter of self expression wasn't really an option for them at the time, and wouldnt be until later

Its worth noting further that Jamie still considered themself to be a woman until they came to the neath, and presented as such for much of their surface life (except, perhaps, within smaller artistic groups they found themself apart of, backstage or otherwise, where gender noncomformity was a little bit explored)

Into their late teens and young adulthood, Jamie's clothes were pretty typical working class skirts and dresses. The trio managed to survive, but they were still within the bounds of the working class (even with the...extraciricular acitivites... that Alex led in terms of crime). The only time that would have been different was during the brief time period with their ex, which led to them attempting to aquire slightly nicer clothes.

Jamie had a bit of a spiral after they broke up with their ex, which was the point in which they cut off most of their long hair (break up cutting bangs, you know how it is)

The next time their presentation dramatically changed was soon after, when they first came to the neath and really was presented with the concept of presenting Not As A Girl. At the time, Jamie both assumed they needed to present explicitly masculinely for that, while also trying harder to blend in. This led to them beginning to dye their hair, and their clothes more dark and blander at the time.

And then we eventually end up with where Jam is today in all their scanadlous, colour loving falseconfident glory. over time as they adjusted to their current role, and popularity, as well their... numerous experiences and choices, Jamie has come more into themself

I’ve learned that lesson over and over and over again. And I’m sick of pretending. Right now, I’m facing a dark place in my business and it’s time to charge through. I feel like a failure for not reaching my goals. However, I ran across a message today that flipped my “must brood and stomp around in cosplay boots” mood. ⁣ ⁣ I’m reading Felicia Day’s book #EmbraceYourWeird and in it she talks about how your dream can’t just be the END result. You have to like the WORK that comes along with accomplishing your dream otherwise you feel icky and miserable. ⁣ ⁣ I felt that when I was pursuing acting. I didn’t like the “work” that came with being an actor. The schmoozing, the being judged constantly, the endless auditions and rejection. So I quit! ⁣ ⁣ When I started teaching fitness I truly enjoyed the work. I loved learning and choreographing the workouts. I loved finding new songs to add to the playlist. I loved how it truly changed peoples lives. ⁣ ⁣ And then I started my own business. I have BIG goals and dreams for Geeknasium and I feel SO FAR AWAY from them. But I just have to keep reminding myself that I love the work. I’m not doing this for ME. I’m doing this for the nerd who thinks they can’t thrive in fitness because they think the community will shun them. ⁣ ⁣ I’ve learned this lesson before.
