Day 9/100 #the100dayproject I recently listened to #embraceyourweird by @feliciaday and absolutely loved it. She totally gets me and all my weirdness. I’ve been #reading a lot lately about #creativity and how to keep the creative juices flowing as I #write and #illustrate my first picture book. She talked about some of the monsters that get in our way as we try to create, so I’ve been #collaging some of them this week as I worked on my #morningpages They each have names - Jealousy Jake (green), Shelly Shame (orange), Failure Felix (blue), and the one I created today Perfectionist Pearl (pink). Now they have names and faces and I can tell them to be quiet and go away when they try to scare me off track. I loved the book so much, I got a physical copy so I can slowly work through all the great prompts she has throughout the book. So many of them I know will be helpful in my quest to get my manuscript done. I’m so excited to have yet another resource to keep pushing me towards my goal even though my monsters are trying to hold me back. Into the Whimsical

🍂Hello there! Welcome to the Whimsical, my own grove of the internet that hopefully, I will actually upkeep instead of starting and then stopping when I get bored like I do with most other projects. This is why I’m starting this blog on Tumblr because it’s free and I’m a college student with no money for an actual domain. Speaking of which, allow me to introduce myself. 

🍂Hi! I’m G, a second-year American college student, studying Film, Photography, and Psychology. There isn’t much to know about me except that when I did my makeup this morning I somehow got mascara on my nose and eyebrow (gel?) stuff in my hair and the products I use I haven’t had to replace since I first got them when I was 14 and I’m really hoping they just haven’t gone bad yet. Also, I get super depressed when I haven’t been in the forest for a while which is really inconvenient since I go to school in the city which isn’t exactly known for its sprawling forests. So if there are any forest nymphs looking to whisk away an unsuspecting human on a magical forest adventure (or even just for tea) then I’m your gal. 

🍂This blog is going to be something pretty new to me since I don’t have very many skills to share but I like photography, embroidery, drawing, painting, writing, and an assortment of other creative things so I figure it wouldn’t hurt to have a record of some of the stuff I made somewhere. Making a blog is something I tried to do a couple times as a kid but I could never quite get it right so I’m hoping that at the ripe age of 19 that I’ll be able to figure this thing out. (Also coming to terms with the fact that I have to be okay if my family or friends find this blog, deep breath G, deeeeepppp breathhhhh.) I was mostly inspired to actually start this blog from reading Felicia Day’s new(ish) book Embrace Your Weird, which I haven’t actually finished yet but I guess look forward to that post once I do if you plan on sticking around!

“You’ll turn out ordinary if you’re not careful.” . I was going through my phone, looking at some of the selfies I’ve taken and never posted when I came across this one. It’s different than the typical selfie I post but there was something about it that I liked. I played with the exposure and the color but then I left it sitting in my photos, unpublished. Today, I saw the above quote and thought, “Why am I so hesitant about posting photos? Why do I worry about sharing my opinion?
