As we enter the Christian holiday season, just your friendly reminder that "non-Christian character discovers the magic of Christmas" is not a trope you should be writing for a holiday themed fic. Cut that shit out.

nonblack people and by nonblack people I mean mainly WHITE people will enter predominantly black fandoms or consume media centered heavily on black people and yet, still somehow manage to center themselves and their feelings in said media/fandoms as well as center the white characters over the black ones in what's supposed to be the black character's story---and then go and constantly speak over/ignore black people when we voice our very valid criticisms and frustrations about that kind of behavior and then they go on to try to demean/belittle us for feeling that way.
Like how dare we be upset about the yts consuming black media yet still perpetuating anti blackness and white-centric thinking. How dare be upset they invade black spaces and constantly make us uncomfortable!

Fuck you if you say don't interact with Wilbur soot content but turn around and internet with any of vivzie pops content.
Vivzie pop does a lot of the same things or similar things Wilbur has been said to have done, and even things he hasn't done.
There's lots of transphobia, ablesm, misogyny, Zionism, abuse, down the Vivziepop rabbit hole.
Vivziepop has actively tried to sabotage the careers of so many of her former friends and coworkers, and has been spotted higher younger and younger, and if she could shed probably would be hiring young impressional minors if it was legal.
As far as we know she may not have physically abused people like Wilbur has. But she has forcing people working for her till their physical limits often more than night.
If you support one but shit on the other. Block. Fuck you. I don't care what excuse you give. I can understand if you have nuanced grey area takes on interacting with "problematic" media and or media made by problematic people.
But putting down and condemning one piece of media for sound and generally reasonable reasons but turning around and interacting with media or fandom content with similar issues or concerns is hypocritical and gross.
I don't care if you like Wilbur soot and Vivziepop as much as you like one and put down the other. It's hypothetical. Don't interact with me if this is how you are. Fuck you.

There is A Problem in fandom.
White favoritism.
First of all, Star Wars.
Tumblr media
Finn got his role reduced FAR because of people complaining.
About what?
I don't fucking know, maybe all the people who wanted a white guy to relate to?
Maybe it was all the white women who wanted another generic white actor to thirst over?
That's why the made Raylo or whatever the fuck it's called canon, you know, that creepy abusive shitfest of a ship.
Next example, The Owl House.
Tumblr media
If you haven't watched the show, can you tell who's the main character?
Don't worry, I have other examples.
Tumblr media
Look at this fucker.
His personality can be summed up as "angsty white guy with issues". In fact that's the extent of his personality.
But everyone in the fandom for some reason loves him for some reason.
It's because he's white.
Tell me the fandom would love him as much as he is right now if he was black.
They wouldn't.
They just wouldn't.
Final example, Amphibia.
Tumblr media
Guess which one of these three girls gets the most attention in the fandom.
It's actually the asian(?) one, who actually did something to earn that attention.
The white one?
She places second by doing nothing except being white.
Neither of those two are the main character who is in the show more and in turn does more.
She is always attatched to other characters in fanart and other fandom content, that being the trio or the frog child.
This also brings up another Problem in fandom, that being the disregarding of the main character (which is also present in all these examples... how odd...)
I don't have a point other than fandom is kinda racist, just wanted to throw out a few examples.
Bye :D

The maths fandom is wild. “Real” and “imaginary” numbers? I think you mean canon and non-canon. You guys seriously go “this is my number oc his name is i and he is the square root of -1” when in numbers canon lore it’s actually impossible to square root a negative but sure whatever. “Complex numbers”? I think you mean a character x oc ship. “f(x) = 3x - 5”? That is self-insert fanfiction.

The qsmp fandom (especially on Twitter) is HILARIOUS/sarcasm
They LOVE to use brazilian cc and brazilian fandom as a tool to stupid fan wars against dream/dsmp and dream team stans and LOVE to act like the qsmp dosent have ANY problems and dosent have a bias againsg brazilian fandom and cc
But when brazilians show disconfort against aypierre, a guy that LIVES on doing """jokes""" against brazilians, they go "oh but he apologized" (while he STILL makes this jokes and very WEIRD coments against brazilians, the most recent event was YESTERDAY) but with forevers apology to a things he said YEARS ago witch he changed and made a safe space for trans people on his team and fandom "oh its okay to not get his apology! FOREVER IS A TRANSPHOBE AND HE SHOUD BE TAKEN OFF THE QSMP"
Im so fucking PISSIED at this comunity, just a bunch of hipócritas that want to pretend that they are better but they arent, at least Dreams comunity dosent pretend being progressive like qsmp fans do
Im so so tired off all of this
This grown ass men with wife and children had quackity to apologize for his racist behavior before HIMSELF apologized for the brazilian comunity
Like how can a white men fuck up só só bad with the most stupid comunity that always forgives people that are xenophobic against them? Brazil has a fucking azelia Banks fanbase for crying out loud!!!
I just wish this fucker to not interact with brazilian cc's só at LEAST o can watch my povs in PEACE because every time i see his face/voice etc i get inrracionally angry and i dont want this fucker to ruin a thing that makes me so happy
If someone fucking coments on this post to saying that i should delete this post because its "Twitter drama" im taging this shit on the main tags just to be an asshole
Be aware

I'm seeing some frustration over fandom creatives expressing anger or distress over people feeding their work into ChatGPT. I'm not responding to OP directly because I don't want to derail their post (their intent was to provide perspective on how these models actually work, and reduce undue panic, which is all coming from a good place!), but reassurances that the addition of our work will have a negligible impact on the model (which is true at this point) does kind of miss the point? Speaking for myself, my distress is less about the practical ramifications of feeding my fic into ChatGPT, and more about the principle of someone taking my work and deliberately adding it to the dataset.
Like, I fully realize that my work is a drop in the bucket of ChatGPT's several-billion-token training set! It will not make a demonstrable practical difference in the output of the model! That doesn't change the fact that I do not want my work to be part of the set of data that the ChatGPT devs use for training.
According to their FAQ, ChatGPT can and will use user input to train itself. The terms and conditions explicitly state that they save your chats to help train and improve their models. (You can opt-out, but sharing is the default.) So if you're feeding a fic into ChatGPT, unless you've explicitly opted out, you are handing it to the ChatGPT team and giving them permission to use it for training, whether or not that was your intent.
Now, will one fic make a demonstrable difference in the output of the model? No! But as the person who spent a year and a handful of months laboring over my fic, it makes a difference to me whether my fic, specifically, is being used in the dataset. If authors are allowed to have a problem with the ChatGPT devs for scraping millions of fics without permission, they're also allowed to have a problem with folks handing their individual fics over via the chat interface.
I do want to add that if you've done this to a fic, please don't take this as me being upset with you personally! Folks are still learning new information and puzzling out what "good" vs. "bad" use is, from an ethical standpoint. (Heck, my own perspective on this is deeply based on my own subjective feelings!) And we certainly shouldn't act like one person feeding a fic into ChatGPT has the same practical negative impact, on a broad societal scale, as a team using a web crawler to scrape five billion pieces of artwork for Stable Diffusion.
The point is that fundamentally, an ethical dataset should be obtained with the consent of those providing the data. Just because it's normalized for our data to be scraped without consent doesn't make it ethical, and this is why ChatGPT gives users the option to not share data— there is actually a standardized way (robots.txt) for website servers to set policies for how bots/crawlers can interact with them, for exactly this reason— and I think fandom artists and authors are well within their rights to express a desire for opting out to be the socially-respected default within the fandom community.
