My personal theory about To be hero X is that X is so powerful because he managed to do exactly what Lin Ling does in episode 4 but better: he has completely separated his hero persona from his civilian persona, not only in the eyes of people but in his own eyes too.
That's why no one can control him, not the hero agencies, not Queen's rules, not even the trust value, because he has mastered the ability to simply jump between personas as he likes, which is why nothing affects him. You can think whatever of X all you like, but we already saw with Lin Ling that belief won't affect someone if that someone doesn't "exist" at the moment. X can't be affected by belief when he fully believes to be his civilian persona.
I also think this is how he won against Queen as shown last episode and how this image of X being pretty much omnipotent was formed. If you can defeat someone who literally makes the rules of the world despite being a "nobody" then you must be able to control the world itself.
#to be hero x#tbhx#to be hero x X#tbhx X#the level of dissociation and the speed to change between personas this entails fascinates me#x as a whole fascinates me#every new tidbit of information i get about her makes me go crazy#what do you mean you were cyan's first coin before even being a hero#what do you mean one of the first things you did as a hero was defeat queen#what do you mean it's been two years of being number one and still no one knows who you even are. how.#all of this while being a fucking office worker#the character ever#soratsu speaks

rhod is so annoying (affectionately) because he hides interesting facts in his stories that he will just... never address again. "so when i worked in a sunglasses factory in australia..." im sorry you did what? "my parents used to drop me off in the south of france at a family whose mother was a nudist and that is why i dont like cheese and tomato sandwiches" SORRY? "i was an extra in a movie because i needed money when i came back from travelling for a few years" YEARS!?

The penalty for naughty roosters who try to jump the fence is that they have to take a mugshot with me! This time it’s Sascha, who was trying to run from Jack when he jumped on top of the run and then made me chase him all around the garage, all while screaming bloody murder. Roosters are so dramatic! Oh well, he’s grown into quite the handsome young man with mighty wattles, although he still has long spindly legs and big pretty brown eyes!
#I think he might have some leghorn or even Spanish rooster in him#idk he has kind of a fiery fierce look about him now…his name doesn’t really fit him anymore#I named him after an OC that’s elegant and demure lol#he may even get a name change if he stops being so shy and scared of hens lol#his and Pluto’s relationship is so fascinating you could make a whole drama anime about it#they’re like the two childhood friends who grew up together and have a ‘special bond’#and the showrunners won’t admit they’re in love but it’s obvious to everyone but them#they’re fighting over the same girl - Muppet- but they love each other the most#I said anime bc I swear I see this trope all the time and I don’t watch regular tv anymore#seriously though they spend like half an hour tidbitting for each other today#and when Sascha was screaming when I was trying to catch him Pluto came running to Sascha right away#this is all just me being silly btw I know it’s anthropomorphizing and stuff#it’s my duty to tease my sons after all

okay, Rogue Trader first impressions:
if you're going to have a morality system, my god, at least make it one that makes sense in the context of the universe it's in. Puritan/Heretic is way more interesting than the usual shit
music slaps. hard.
Idira's voice actor is my new fave (Idira herself is also my new fave)
so far, this game features everything I love best about CRPGs old and new, which flattens the shit out of the learning curve and lets me immerse myself in the world instantly
love the UI. zero complaints. very cool
live gameplay reactions: oh shit!!! what is happening!!!!!! omg! what the fuck is that!!! whoa THAT'S a Navigator??? hell yeah!!!! oh shit!!!!! did you see that???? (man, I love playing games for the first time.)
#rogue trader#i love a prologue that just hits you with the wildest shit right out the gate. way to hook 👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿#the lore tidbits being dripfed to me are also very delicious. everything i hear about this god emperor dude is fascinating#was doing okay combat-wise but have just died to the chaos spawn thing AAAAAA fuck you 💀#(the funny thing is i took notes + reloaded + killed it almost immediately. fool me once!!!!)

that one on animals not being sorted into our human understanding of cladistics reminds of how animals were sorted in medieval times. my friend lended me a book on it but its been a hot minute since i read it but the categories were like, quadruped, bird, worm, and fish or something like that (bats were in birds, snakes in worms, etc)
Early England is an inspiration for a lot of Clan Culture! If you look closely, you can even see that the "core" of their philosophy is a soft manoralism and pre-Reformation flavor of early Christianity. I take inspiration from all parts of the Middle Ages since records are so scarce though, lmao
They used "Deer" for any wild quadruped, which over time came to just describe a hart as the favorite wild animal to hunt. Now "hart" has fallen out of use and we call them all deer!
So I do something similar in Clan cat categorization of animals. They see things totally differently than we do, so I try to sort animals based on what's most important to them, not us.
#It also helps that the region I model BB on is notorious for roman outposts#And ruins#Which makes finding intriguing archeological tidbits really easy#Trout and I were fascinated by this one video on the evolution of corvid classification through the middle ages#But I actually saw that video after I made this system#It's funny that I accidentally re-invented the worm category#I did not know that until I had already classed snakes as worms lmao#Bone babble

ask game
Thanks, anon! (I love how Felix is somehow not even mentioned in this snippet...)
It was not a moral question to her then. It’s ugly to watch and unbecoming of them to bet on. She’d never liked Festus’ hobby with the dogs. That was something she and Coriolanus had privately agreed on. And yet Festus had been the one to yell at her to feed her tribute. He’d been the one moved when he saw a poor man— boy starving. They’d been teenagers back then. All of them had been boys and girls. Heartless, he’d called her. Clemensia smiles. She grew a heart again, and tore it out all over again for the rebellion.
#listen... i think one of the most interesting parts about clemensia is that she takes her frustrations out on reaper in the arena by not#giving him food. and while she's clearly not thinking straight and it isn't her at her best. it's still a fascinating tidbit for someone#generally portrayed as nice. love it so much. it feels so real. and it's so interesting that festus is the one who calls her out on it. and#granted later on he supports her decision because he doesn't understand reaper's honoring of the tributes. it's still such an interesting#moment to me. like festus creed random moments of empathy so humanizing for a guy i see as just doing casual cruelty all the time#clemensia dovecote#festus creed#abyssal stuff#the ballad of songbirds and snakes#tbosas#ask response#make me write game#anon asks

Interesting tidbits I noted from my mechquest archiving today:
Braddock Steele is the last surviving member of an elite secret task force/mercenary group called the Star Strikers. They're stated to be from the planet Celestia, suggesting that's the planet he's from.
There's a model of self-healing mecha quite similar to the Valkyrie line that's developed by Quinn Labs. Given that this is Nurse Helia's last name, we can guess that she's either head of a lab that designs mecha technology on top of all her other duties, or, more probably, she's somehow related to the lab heads and that's the family business. She's even stated to have trained in healing for "humans, aliens and mecha"- and it seems training in "healing" mecha goes along well with the self-healing functions they're designed with.
It hasn't been that long since the last war- there were the Solar Wars of 2086.
Fossilized Dragon's Eyes are sometimes used to focus laser weapons.
Mysterious Johnson is considered a popular fashion guru. He's even designed a "sport-class" mecha, something that prioritizes looks... meaning the uniform he puts the player in during his questline wasn't even a case of obliviousness to it's ugliness. He just did it to us anyway.
Despite being the most laidback of the house leaders, Casca has probably the coldest response to being betrayed in the GEARS games- meanwhile, Jaania seems to be genuinely heartbroken by betrayal.
Magical sign language can be used to cast spells, even at the mecha level. There are apparently specific gestures known by vampire hunters that harm vampires.
Most Drakels have human-like hands and webbed flipper feet, but some have webbed hands as well. This is similar to the equins, some of whom appear to only have two fingers and a thumb, while most have four.
There's a cell, or cellular component, within the nervous system called a magi-fibre. Jaania lists it alongside "neurons" and "dendrites" when describing a visceral feeling. Presumably this is the portion of the nervous system responsible for channeling of mana and performing magic.

Great insights into 'Some Like it Hot'

The video title focuses on Marilyn, but it actually covers a wide spectrum of the cast, crew and beyond. Fascinating as usual, thanks Matt Baume!

This book is a wild ride. One minute it's like OH OKAY SURE:
This disease [hysteria] is apt to produce a similar affection in other girls of the same age who see the attacks. For this reason, hysterical girls should not be sent to large schools, but cured at home. Often a strong mental impression restores them. The anecdote is told of a celebrated surgeon (Boerhaave) who was called to a female seminary where there was a number of hysterical girls. He summoned them together, heated a number of iron instruments before their eyes, and told them that the first one who had a fit should be cauterized down the spine. They all recovered immediately.
The next I'm like, this is actually very reasonable and kind carry on:
Especially at their commencement should the monthly changes be carefully watched. The mother should prepare her daughter's mind betimes for such an expected incident in her life, thus preventing a useless fright, or the employment of injurious means to stop what the child may look upon as an accident. Nor should the maternal care cease here. Such tender sympathy should exist on the one side, such trusting confidence on the other, that the mother should acquaint herself with every detail of each recurring period until the function is thoroughly established. She should inquire into the duration of each epoch, the abundance of the discharge, the presence of pain, and its effects on the general health. She should convince herself that all these do not vary from the standards of health we have previously laid down.
And then the next minute he launches into racial stereotypes. Because of course he does. Absolute roller-coaster of a text.

So I’ve started Season 5 of the Drama Queens podcast and I’m at the part where Daphne Zuniga comes in and Daphne Zuniga plays Cuntoria, Brooke’s mom.

Now while I HATE Victoria, I absolutely LOVE Daphne Zuniga and she’s the sweetest; ESPECIALLY with Sophia Bush!
Fun fact; when she came on, ALL the girls were intimidated by her since she was in previous works like Melrose Place and Space Balls!
She thought she was gonna be a supportive, loving mother at first 😂 Poor woman 🤣
As a kid she also worked in a sandwich deli! Imagine VICTORIA DAVIS working in a deli 😂
And Mark Schwann’s lame bitch ass didn’t DARE fuck with her! Haha what a bitch 😈
Also apparently Torrey Devitto (Nanny Carrie) and Daphne were in a movie together where Daphne played Torrey’s mother YEARS before they came onto One Tree Hill!
Like….
🤯
Such a small world…

But ANYWAYS I could listen to Daphne Zuniga forever!!
#drama queens oth#daphne zuniga#victoria davis#non anime#i LOVE when the queens bring on these women!#lots of fascinating insight! ESPECIALLY the tidbit about Daphne and Torrey!
