New AU spotted!!! Say hello if you haven’t already to @ask-fatalau-dark !!!
This is an AU where RDC is evil and Dark (called Kid in this Universe) is sort of like their evil assistant/sibling, the kind that laughs along with RDCs villain cackle

I imagine that all Dark AUs Have shitty eyes, this one is just the only one that uses glasses (RDC doesn’t trust them with contacts +it looks cute asf)
Kid has yet to get diffrent clothes so they have several copies of the same outfit like a cartoon character (three, one for usual use, one as a backup incase #1 gets blood or smth on it, and one to change into during laundry days)
Also funfact! Kid has the most control over their magic compared to Creek (Weapons AU Dark) for example, they have more overall abilities such as: melting into shadows, teleporting via shadows, making a sort of void-like fire, turning said fire Into various weapons that deal the same kind of damage that fire would, like a hot knife

Rivain has some of the most interesting politics how did they fumble it so hard in DATV my gosh.
Like. Sorry. Sorry. But. Here's some things about Rivan that just, are canonical.
In 9:40 the circle in Rivan was annulled because a) they were teaching students there the cultural practices of seers which involve spirit possession and b) they let the circle mages interact freely with friends and family outside of the circle.
Bi-annual festival where all the seers come to the (chantry controlled) capitol to pledge themselves to the queen of Rivain. No information on how that practice has changed since the seekers came and annuled the circle but you bet it has??
Chantry only has real control in one single city despite claiming it as one of the chantry controlled nations of Thedas.
Only place where there's a peaceful Qun city/outpost that lives in harmony with the rest of Rivani society
Plenty of qun converts/families from the time when the Qunari ruled that part of the world; many refused to give up the Qun when Rivan was retaken and while some of those families suffered persecution many didn't.
Seers! Wise women! Matriarchy where the leaders of villages/towns rely on spirits to help guide them
It seems like they've got loads of spirit healers there, which makes me think they may have some of the most advanced medical practices anywhere in Thedas outside of maybe Tevinter?
Largely a trade-based economy outside of the big cities rather than relying on traditional Thedas currencies
And yeah they've got pirates and treasure hunters and that's obviously super fun to explore but they're so much more than the lord's of fortune. So so much more.
#dragon age#rivain#dai and datv both made the fatal mistake#of wanting too many cultures and too big of an area to be explored#dao is ferelden#da2 is kirkwall#dai should have been mainly orlais#and datv should have been mainly tevinter#bringing in too many cultures and countries stretched you too thin and doesnt allow you to adequately explore the lore of any of them#which means you loose some of this stuff

Kai don't be shy and tell us the lore abt fatal flaws pretty please :3
sorry I'm too shy… I can't do it…
jk. which lore? I can give you some of my ideas I've been brainstorming. I don't know how many of these are repeats though.
fatal flaws is not exactly modernized; it's very possible they're in an ambiguously semi-post-apocalyptic setting, one that's rebuilt but it's been long enough that people don't remember. their country doesn't have any relationships with the outside world. even if there are other people out there, it's likely believed that there are no other civilizations out there, that the mainland is a barren wasteland.
"being a sorcerer" is the kind of rumor that makes you an immediate outcast. it's not illegal to be a sorcerer, but society has turned against them due to prejudice and the sorcerer parasite. the parasite basically kills sorcerers and turns them into 'zombies', like fungal hosts. it's a contamination; they're not born with it. but regular humans think that they're born with it.
miles and arthur lived in a poor sorcerer district in the countryside that existed under the radar, they hadn't been found by the government yet, but the parasite got in. miles lived with his single father and arthur may have possibly never known his parents. (note the big maybe) when the parasite hit, the military found them. the two of them had to escape.
vick grew up in the capital city and was taught in school that the military is infallible and that sorcerers are dangerous. growing up getting into fights and getting in trouble, she eventually went to training camp and got a job in the city guard due to it being well-paying, but it wasn't a particularly good or welcoming job. they eventually told her she "had to quit" due to her badly representing their government with her temper. she didn't start changing her mind about sorcerers until adulthood.
blue is just Some Guy, there is definitely nothing weird going on with him, nope, totally nothing weird. he definitely isn't trying to hide his backstory or anything. he is just a regular delivery boy.
arthur has very confused opinions about sorcerers. he grew up seeing himself as a normal human, and eventually became ashamed of being one once he realized what it meant. he thinks justice is very important, and people should be punished for wrongdoings, but his desire to take crime more seriously just perpetuated the laws that hurt sorcerers. he's not opinionated like miles about it. part of him thinks, "wouldn't people be happier if everyone was the same?" and the machine happens, "why don't we use people's magic to power the city and make it a better place?" he's… complicated.
hacker's a regular guy, but he lives upstairs in randy's restaurant like miles does, and he works for randy. he does Computer Shit. he did used to be affiliated with a gang and his stupid ex still tries to get his attention sometimes.
bunny is a sorcerer kid who likely lost her family to the parasite. I haven't picked apart her story yet, but randy took her in while vick was working in the guard. he worries a lot about her schooling; he and hacker try to do it themselves because randy's afraid of sending her to public school, since bunny's a sorcerer and she's autistic. vick is sort of jealous because she feels like she never got any special treatment growing up.
crystal comes from a surrounding island where people aren't known to live at. she keeps her identity on the down low, because while she's not technically a sorcerer, what she actually is would freak people out even more.
Once Upon A Time™, Charles L'bard the First arrived on the island we now know as our home. With his Big Might and Big Charisma, he smote the cursed monsters and their henchmen that resided there and became a hero. The people crowned him the Island's Hero, the Lord of the Sun, and he became the first king.
many generations later, the populous demanded an elected official instead. this did not make the royal family very happy…
#fatal flaws#dsasks#yeah#note: if I did not mention a character it is because I decided not to this time#like I'm not evenly distributing lore bits per character. they have to wait their turn lol

any recommendations for tony stark hates himself comics -loservenom
essentially the entirety of iron man comic canon, except during the runs where the author explicitly and implicitly hates tony and thinks he really is the 'textbook narcissist billionaire playboy philanthropist' that mcu perception popularised.
but some notable favourites are below, which you can download from my masterpost:
iron man: director of s.h.i.e.l.d. - tony directly post civil war, at one of his all-time personal/professional/psychological lows
iron man vol. 1 demon in a bottle arc #120-128 - the arc that deals specifically with tony's alcoholism
iron man vol. 3 #26 - 32: tony relapses, the sentient armor is involved, the villain later in the arc is yinsen's son
iron man: fatal frontier #1-13 - some excellent tony monologue and character introspection
iron man vol. 4 - #1-6 are in the infamous extremis arc, with lots of interesting worldbuilding and transhumanism core to modern tony tech. #7-12 gets into execute program which is spicy self-loathing and dissociation era and the precursor to civil war in #13-16
the darkhold: iron man - some excellent body horror and tony character analysis
invincible iron man vol. 5 - decently well written and references tony's demon in a bottle arc
#mod: answer#anonymous#universe: 616#character: tony stark#darkhold: iron man & fatal frontier are great shorter reads if you don't want something too lore and story heavy

the thing abt cherik is that mags is convinced that if he isn't vigilant charles is going to fucking re-wire his brain into a toaster and because of it he perceives every positive emotion he feels towards charles as proof charles has meddled with his mind. "he made me trust him, by messing with my mind with his psionic powers!" which, no, he didn't. except for the times he did. but no he didn't. except when he did
#'oooh mags wears the helmet bc if he didn't he would feel the love' no mags wears the helmet because he is reasonably scared#charles is going to perform psionic lobotomy on him. much like he did in xmen fatal attraction.#some newer fans need to get up on the charles and ethics of telepathy lore. tbh#xmen#cherik#magneto#charles xavier#cherick#erik lensherr

Fatal Lore
Do card spikes help preserve the history of the game? Is that what is meant by fatal lore? Does the preservation of the history of the reserved list lead to recognition of older cards which in turn leads to buyouts and spikes? I ask these questions because I was looking into this card, fatal lore, and I found an article associated with it. On edhrec if you search this card an article from March 30, 2021 pops up. I was interested so I clicked on the article and, at first, I was a bit perplexed. The article was about a Yennett commander deck which revolves around cards with odd mana values. Fatal lore has an even mana value so I was interested in why they would suggest this card or use the card image in the article. I read it and there is one small section where an individual suggests a Yennett build that lets your opponent make choices but does not suggest this exact card. I wondered why use this image instead of many other odd mana cost cards that force your opponent to make a choice. Then I looked at the date of the article. At first, I thought that the use of the image was an attempt to spike the reserved list or manipulate the market in some way. This was around the time of the great reserved list spike in which almost all reserved list cards went up in price and buyouts were a common occurrence. It just so happens that fatal lore reached its almost 6 dollar high on March 3, 2021. The card was in everyone's mind because it had spiked in the same month and the article writer saw a chance to include a currently very popular and discussed card into his article; maybe to gain traffic. After all, if everyone is talking about reserved list cards and buyouts shouldn't your articles try to include that to appeal to the current hype and draw a larger audience? Yet, that preserved the card fatal lore with an article. There is not much to say about the actual card but there is an article that uses this card's image and that is because for a very short window this card was hot. It also shows a snapshot of the history of the reserved list. The card, itself, is not terrible. You either draw 3 cards or you destroy two of your opponent's creatures and they draw 3. If you are playing Sheoldred the Apocalypse then you can change that drawback into a reward. Forcing your opponent to draw is a popular strategy with cards like underworld dreams and Nekusar. Of course, your opponent will likely just let you draw 3 cards if drawing the cards will hurt them that much. Also, soemtimes your opponent just has an army of tokens and then this card becomes less effective. 4 mana for a draw 3 in black is fine but there are just so many cards printed and there is just not a perfect home for this card. If they ever make a commander that benfits from your opponent choosing and also benefits from drawing cards in some way than this card may finally find a place. Until then, this card is just fatal lore.

what people don’t get about percy’s fatal flaw being loyalty is that it isn’t a cop-out resulting from the main character syndrome or rick trying to keep unlikeable traits away from percy–it’s that even a noble trait like loyalty can become bad or fatal to oneself if practiced in extremes. that’s literally the whole point. nothing, absolutely NOTHING is good in excess. that’s why we have the phrase: _____ to a fault. fill in the blank with good attributes all you want, the meaning remains the same. loyalty can and will become a source of moral conflict and self-destruction if not leashed to healthy amounts. and that’s why percy’s extreme loyalty is a flaw because it hurts him and makes him go against the “morally right” thing to do. his loyalty is fatal to his ownself. you cannot call any trait a “good” one if it comes at the cost of harming the one that displays it, can you? loyalty is inherently a good, noble thing to practice but when you stretch it wide, when your personal loyalty to someone blinds you to the hurt it causes others and yourself, when you cannot critique people you’re loyal to (something percy very much struggles with), it becomes a flaw. a fatal one.

Just finished making The Notorious Slasher pic collage aesthetic, moodboards. Note: dividers by @animatedglittergraphics-n-more ✨✨.

Facts about Scylla: First of all, she is a clone of Aliyaa (I stated that before) She likes Jason Vorhees; she is a goth girl. Likes the red colour, and likes to hold knives and daggers. She LOVES horror movies, she likes to stab things, and most importantly: people. Her favourite character is Elektra from Marvel.
She dyed her hair red (not all of it; but highlights) so people can differentiate between her and Aliyaa; she hates it when people call her ‘Aliyaa’ instead of her name. Don’t piss her off if you don’t wanna end up lined in chalk.

Royalty Au- Magicborn

(Long lore-dump for the au below)
Once upon a time there were two kingdoms. With two princes who were very close. They were both savants in the way of magic, brilliant minds and talents who enjoyed nothing more than to expirament with the magical order.
Their names were Thomas Light, and Albert Wily.
One day the princes met up and agreed to perform the ultimate magic expirament. An action thought impossible, to create life from magic.
After days upon months and even years in pursuit of life from magic, they succeeded. The first Magicborn. They named him Blues.
Albert told Light to keep the child as his future heir, knowing his friend was unlikely to seek a consort for himself. The two continued their experiments even after the birth of Blues, but upon presenting the babe to the world, all eyes were on Thomas and Albert now. And as time went on, Thomas gained accolades and praise for his advancements and raising of Blues, while Albert... Albert had gone down a more dangerous path, focusing on the raw power the Magicborn could be capable of, and received criticism, and ire.
Albert grew jealous of Thomas, and a rift opened between them, growing larger and deeper as time went on, a rift that Thomas, now King Light, was unaware of.
Until he realized there was something wrong with Blues. His magical core was unstable, just to keep himself alive his body siphoned the mana around him. Grass withered at his feet, flowers died at his touch, his very presence had been aging Light. King Light took him to Albert immediately, now King Wily. Wily agreed to find a solution with Light, coming up with a barrier spell that would cycle and recycle the magic through Blue's core, but that could hold potentially catastrophic results should Blues be struck in the heart. So Light decided to keep searching lest they grow complacent in such a dangerous, even if temporary, solution. But Wily... Wily lied to Blues, planted fear in his heart that Light had deemed him a failure and was planning to unmake him and Blues allowed Wily to cast the barrier.
Blues ran away. Light was left in despair, at the loss of his son and Wily's betrayal.
He waited, he waited for ten long years for Blues to return, but he never did. King Light didn't want to give up hope though, and so he resolved that when Blues returned, he would return to a welcoming family; he experimented with creating more stable magicborn making them more constructs to aid the people of his land till he realized creating them on his own was sapping his life. And so he reached out to a spirit of the wind, asking to borrow their power to create. The spirit found his desire amusing and agreed and twins were born of their mana.
King Light named them Rock and Roll.
But Wily was not resting upon his laurels. Upon hearing of Rock and Roll's birth he grew furious, hearing the praise the children received, how blessed they appeared. He took a bride, a powerful witch, whether or not they liked each other, only they know. Through their union they created their own magicborn child, a strong child, and named him... Well they disagreed upon his name, so the babe was given two. His father called him Bass, his mother called him Forte and they decided he could decide which he liked better. Wily insisted that Bass was the better name.
Rock and Roll grew up beloved by all, their father, construct siblings and the people of Light's kingdom.
Bass knew of love from only his mother and his beast, Trebel. His people were wary and feared him, his father only seemed to have expectations that he be the strongest.
Rock and Bass would clash many times over the years. And after each clash Bass would return defeated to the ire of King Wily.
Blues' return to Light's side, only to abdicate his throne to Rock was the last straw.

One day, when the summer sun blazed hot in the sky, threatening to scorch the very earth, Wily and his queen sealed themselves in the tower closest to the firmament. Whatever happened in that tower, the light that poured from it nearly blinded all who witnessed it and when it was done and the door was opened, Bass' mother was dead, Wily had aged and in his arms was a wailing magicborn baby boy.
He was named Zero. For he was to have no equal.
When King Light heard of the child, the magicborn so powerful that he took the life of King Wily's consort, years of Wily's own life and rumored to have taken mana from the sun itself when he was born, he became afraid. For his sons, his daughter, his kingdom. The power this child was said to bear, the threat he posed if he stood unopposed. And so, on a cool autumn evening, with only the moon and Blues as witness, King Light called his favorite student, a nobleman named Cain and his magicborn son Sigma, to stay with Rock and Roll, and silently ventured deep into the forest, to a quiet lake that perfectly reflected the Moon's light.
Blues will not say what transpired that night. But he returned alone save for babe in his arms. King Light's final decree was the babe's name, X. For within him was unlimited potential.
Rock was too young and Blues was too unwilling to take the throne, and so Lord Cain took the mantel of Regent till Rock felt he was ready to rule.
The kingdom mourned the loss of their King and celebrated their new prince. But the celebration did not last long, Wily saw an opportunity, and launched an attack, sending the two kingdoms spiraling into all out war, gone were the skirmishes Rock could fight on his own.
As Blues led the army with Rock and Sigma at his side, Cain resolved the best way to keep X safe was to keep him as far from the battlefield as possible, learning the blade in self defense. But X would end up favoring the bow.
The years passed and the fighting died down with Wily growing more reclusive, Zero was raised in strife. Bass' ire ensured he had no brother to lean on, and Trebel rejected him on Bass' command, but he was able to simply leave the castle should he desire the company of others, or visit a neighboring allied Kingdom founded and governed entirely by magicborn. Meanwhile X was raised in compassion, but isolated. All he has for friends were his family, Lord Cain, their pets and the servants.
For his 18th birthday, all X wanted was to go out to town, meet and walk amongst his people, but instead he got an extravagant ball.
It is there that X and Zero met.
Neither one knowing their fathers meant for them to destroy one another.
#may edit this more bit for now am happy with it#mmx au#zerox au#mmx royalty au#zerox#after Blues brings X home Sigma asks that Cain makes him older. which can totally happen to Magicborn#otherwise Magicborn slow aging in their mid 20s#X wants to call Lord Cain father but when he did so as a child Cain scolded him#X sees Sigma as an older brother... Sigma does not.#Bass fears Roll. as he should.#Zero almost fatally wounded Rock but Bass stopped him before he could finish Rock off#Zero is two years older than X#the main reason for the reploid/robot characters being magicborn instead of human is so the repliforce incident can happen lol#and then FKKN LORE happened???
