A Weisscream Sundae Christmas!
Weiss: "On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me~!"
Sun: "The rent for the landlady~!"
Weiss: "Wait a minute, why do I have to take the rent to the landlady?"
Sun: "Because the last time I came up short she said I could pay it... a 'different way'. And then she started talking about how much of a cute boy I was!"
*Knock Knock Knock*
Willow: "It's TIIIIIIME~!"
Sun: "AAAGH!"
Weiss: "MOTHER!"
Willow: "Eep! Time to go, buh-bye sunshine!"
Weiss: "Get back here you old harpy!"
Sun: "Oh thank goodness! And here I thought I was in imminent danger of having my loins ravaged!"
???: "I am sorry about that."
Sun: "AAAGH! Winter! Where did you come from?!"
Winter: "The window."
Sun: "That's... weird-"
Winter: "But not important. I'd like to apologize for my mother's behavior, she's been... lonely these last few years. My father's demise and our family's fresh new start couldn't have helped. Try to forgive her."
Sun: "Oh, well, I can understand, water under the bridge I guess."
Winter: "Such a warmhearted young man my sister has found. She's lucky, I'm sure it wasn't easy getting her to let down her walls."
Sun: "Oh boy! You can say that again!"
Winter: "Now that I think of it, I've yet to ask how it is you wooed my abrasive little sister. I'd love to hear all about it? Over there. In your suddenly candle-lit bedroom?"
Sun:"Sure, uh that's... also weird."
Winter: *ushering him into the bedroom* "I can assure you you'll have a much easier time slamming through my walls than you did with my inflexible and underdeveloped little sister."
Doorknob: *CLICK*
~On the last day of Christmas the FNDM gave to me! A frost-nipped golden monkey~!
Happy Holidays!

Prof. Schnee AU Concept
To be clear this isn't the only Au/ comic I'll put the model in but it is the one that comes to mind for me most often.
All of team RWBY are born into the previous generation. Weiss along with her brother Whitley secured and manage the SDC. Though in truth Whitley takes care of most of the actual work. Though she was far from dull she did have to admit that Whitley was solely groomed to manage the company while her time was decided between it and her combat training.
Weiss herself still had power and plenty of a say but her Huntress duties took priority... And obligations as a teacher as well, yes. She was a instructor at Beacon. Helping to groom the next generation into respectable Hunters.
Tumblr media
Mostly she was pleaded into it by her partner Ruby but still she took her job seriously.
Tumblr media
Which was more then she could say for the rest of her team! All three of them off gallivanting across Remnant taking missions. Honestly sometimes they could be such a headache. But she supposed Ozpin had sent them all on those missions...
Tumblr media
Regardless she was determined to perform no less admirably this year then any other. And considering that Pyrrha Nikos would be entering this year she believed it would be a very worthwhile year given her skill.
But there was always room for surprises like miss Valkyrie, who was frankly a Yang level ridiculous powerhouse.
Yes, this year would've been a valuable one even if those were the only two of note... But they weren't. No, the third would be...
"Please Go Out With Me!"
Tumblr media
Would be Jaune Arc, a paradoxically lacking student and yet one worth her admiration. He was a special case like Blake had been according to Ozpin. A boy who secured counterfeit transcripts to earn a chance to try out Initiation. Though whereas her teams resident Faunus had been a member of the White Fang mister Arc had been a civilian out in one of Remnant's frontier villages. A simple boy with some dreams of heroics and knighthood.
He was actually like her partner Ruby in several ways but with a father who denied his dreams instead of supporting them like Ruby had... That, that was something she could relate to, could sympathize with and it was not all.
He wanted to live up to his family's name, to bring honor to it, to be anything to stop being the one to be protected but to protect others Instead. He was many things, foolish, naïve and certainly stubborn… But he was brave. What else could you call a boy who entered the Emerald Forest prepared to face monsters but courageous.
Jaune Arc had a long way to go, had a tough road ahead of him, if she’d thought catching Ruby up on their studies back in the day was hard this would be a true trial. But, but she wanted him to succeed, she wasn’t the same girl she’d been back in the day, who viewed people so callously, so superficially. She saw how much Jaune wanted this, how willing he was to put his life on the line for complete strangers as he fought the Death Stalker.
Apparently he wasn’t the most studious student but she never had issues, he may have lacked proper knowledge of Dust in her class but he was always quick to learn and put in the effort. Offering to help however he could.
Then he was being bullied, and then he stopped it, she knew how, she saw the recordings, saw Winchester Threaten him with blackmail. Saw her student being used like a lackey and distant from his team… And then she saw him refuse to follow Cardin’s order when it affected someone else. And then witnessed him save said tormentor when his teammates had ran.
Jaune Arc just like her partner embodied what it meant to be a Huntsman, he just needed some help on the way… And then he asked her out.
Flustered, nervous, clearly embarrassed, it was a sight she wasn’t used to, every man and woman who courted her had done so with annoying confidence in their status or family ties, had saw her as a particularly beneficial tool to use or trophy to own or worst of all… A knot on the metaphorical belt.
But Jaune, despite the way he entered Beacon was a rather earnest man, which was why she would do this in the kindest but also most direct way possible. Because she remembered being rejected as well. And wanted him to suffer as little as possible.
"Jaune, I'm your teacher..." He looked sad but accepting.
Tumblr media
"R-right... I'm sorry I know it was wrong t-"
"That's why I don't want you going around and telling anyone." She blinked that the words she said it seeming to finally catch up with her brain her... Wait? That wasn't what she was supposed to say! Jaune seemed to be under the same impression as her thoughts as he spoke with a  dumbfounded look on his precious youthful face.
"Really!" Yes Really!? What was she doing accepting his confession, but once more before her conscious could interrupt she parted her lips again.
"Though it isn't against the rules that Beacon upholds it is heavily frowned upon Jaune." Damn her for studying said rules! No! Stop Looking At His Absolutely Beamimg Smile This Instant! Just Because He's A Cute Boy Doesn't Mean We Could Throw Caution To The Wind.
Honestly she couldn't believe she said yes... Moreso that she felt so, so damn giddy about it! Like she was a girl back in her Beacon Days in her first relationship... Okay so technically she was a girl/ woman at Beacon and this was her first relationship but that was beside the point...
She was his teacher and this was... Well, no it wasn't illegal given that Jaune upon passing Initiation was by all legal means a adult under Remnant's Huntsman regulations... But it was still unprofessional! She'd never do anything others could bring into question... Anymore.
Like going out and taking on International criminals, known terrorists cells and preforming vigilante activities while a student.
But all that was besides the point and in the past! She wouldn't play with this boy's heart! She'd do the proper thing and brea-
"Jaune, I hope you understand that I'm not some trollope to be played with I expect you to take this seriously." NO!!! She Did Not Mean That! Shut Up Subconscious!
And oh dear now he was shooting her a very determined, gaze that made her heart skip a beat.
Tumblr media
"Of course not! I'm serious about you miss Schnee!" Oh dear he was closing the distance, and being so assertive... Was, was he always so tall...

looks up. i regret to inform you all that i’ve seen another post today. the faunus woman who led vacuo during the great war was not a queen and almost certainly not of royal descent as the asturias family claims to be: it is stated repeatedly in the CFVY novels that the last time vacuo had any kings or queens was centuries ago and that very little of the historical record has been preserved (with 9.11 reiterating the novels’ point that this is a consequence of colonial occupation in the intervening centuries).
and from the world of remnant episodes pertaining to vacuo and the great war, we know that modern-day vacuo did not have a formal government until after the great war; it was not a state, it was an occupied territory under mistrali control. the faunus woman who led vacuo’s forces was the leader of the vacuan movement for independent statehood and likely became a member of the ruling council established after the war—which is now defunct and has been de facto replaced by shade academy.
please. BLEASE. the great war began about ninety years ago it has not even been a century. the vacuan monarchy is “ancient history.” finn talks about his mother—who would have been a contemporary of nicholas schnee, who was born right after the great war—and her mother, who would have lived through the great war, and his grandmother’s father, and his grandmother’s grandfather, and his grandmother’s grandfather’s mother. rumpole—who is an actual historian—flat out states that it was so long ago, and war and colonization so thoroughly degraded the historical record, that all that remains is legends and uncertain guesswork.
the asturiases having no blood relation to the faunus woman who led vacuo in the great war doesn’t prove or disprove anything because even if she did style herself a queen and claim royal descent the vacuan monarchy ended so long ago that her claim would have been unverifiable mythmaking too.

I feel like people wouldn't discriminate openly again after the War. Maybe shops refusing service but they aren't going to imprison people just because they are Faunus. The world has rejected that.
I am sorry but that's naive.
That's now how racism works - bigots don't just shrug and become good when they are told "racism bad" (despite that being the only thing shown happening in the MilesWBY canon, with Yang telling someone racism bad).
Discrimination has layers, and levels of intensity - and people "feeling" that way don't just disappear - they adapt and they prod over and over again to see what's "acceptable" currently.
Sure, smaller discrimination cases will happen, but that's not the "end".
Discrimination always longs to reach its "greatest hits" - there's a reason why lots of ideologies of oppression resort to "Hey, do you want to go back to the Good Old Days when X?"
Smaller cases of intolerance not getting a pushback are treated as "acceptable status quo" - and the bigotry takes a step forward and escalates onto bigger ones.
And before you know it, you have dehumanizing language, restrictions, rights being taken away, laws being walked back upon and repealed.
It's all about moving the window of what's "acceptable" - we have seen it in our world over and over again (for example - the surge of racism and authoritarian surveillance after September 11)
Think about it - in the show, with Volume 3 one of the four largest huntsmen academies got assaulted by White Fang.
Of course, it's not just them, but that only means different people with different prejudices will focus on different parts of what happened - to some, Atlas would be at fault, while to others - Faunus would be at fault.
Discrimination of all kinds would absolutely escalate - bigotry twists facts to its liking to "prove itself right" - mistrust spreads, and tragedy births propaganda.
And yes - White Fang is not the whole species, but to bigots, that wouldn't matter - it's an age-old tradition to take the examples of worst-of and use them as stereotypes, broad brush strokes, and all.
Destruction, discrimination, AND war are largely cyclical in no small part due to complacency and ignorance.
Need I remind you that even in "present-day Remnant" Atlas (and especially Schnees) had literal slave mines? Remnant is nowhere near close to getting rid of the uglier parts of its past.
One of the most disappointing aspects of the show is that there never were any real consequences or shockwaves from what happened at Vale - not just in terms of kingdom relations and tensions, but also in terms of Faunus rights, mistrust, and overall chaos. In a way, the show ended up making Fall of Beacon feel smaller than it actually was because of that.
The shockwaves of what happened at Beacon SHOULD affect all four main leads in different ways due to how the event connects to them as people.
It robbed us of the arc about Ruby dealing with the realities of the world and her idealism as the world around her falls apart and everyone she knows is hurt (and few of her closest friends are dead)
It robbed us of the arc about Weiss having to face the oppressive privileged nature of her family and things in her life she took for granted.
It robbed us of the arc about Blake having to face the increasingly hostile world around her as she struggles to find her path and face her own indecisiveness and hypocrisy.
It robbed us of Yang having to deal with the fallout of the tournament and the uncertain chaotic reality of the world around her as she's searching for a goal of her own.
It's one of the first things I thought about when I started outlining my plans years ago. There are multiple avalanche effects planned out for more than one part of the setting and characterization of the leads.

Last survivir au how about ironwood builds more penny models like one made using achnee aura for schnee semblance. A penny model made from silver eye aura for silver eyes and neons aura for a faunus android. Making penny and her younger sisters a fill in for team rwby which hurts jaune as all he sees what team rwby could have been if they lived.
"Doctor Polendina."
"General Ironwood, welcome." The roboticist greeted the general and headmaster. "I thought you'd be interested to know the P.E.N.N.Y. model is almost complete."
"Excellent to hear, Doctor. But if I may make a request?"
"I... suppose." The doctor eyed him. "Is it related to the project?"
"In a way. I trust you've been keeping yourself informed with recent events?"
"It's hard not to with such a tragedy." He removed his hat and placed it over his chest. "Those poor children."
"Yes, my thoughts and condolences go out to their families." General Ironwood nodded. "And on the subject, a thought came to mind from the morbid event and your project-"
"No." The general nearly flinched. "I refuse to make a robot army, General. We've been over this."
"Of course, and I have no intention to weaponize these machines." Thought it would have been nice to have some more firepower to battle the Grimm. "However, there are grieving families out there. Families who are inconsolable and will only bring Grimm with their negative emotions. With their empathy, they could-"
"I stand by what I said, James." He glared at the tall standing man. "Penny is special because there's only one of her. Just like there's only one James Ironwood. To replicate her would not only diminish resources, but it would also diminish the purpose of this project. I've only allowed her to be outfitted with her weapons as a means to protect herself and others."
The general was silent for a time. Taking a deep breath, he relaxed his stiff nerves building throughout his body. Even after decades of unlocking his semblance, he still had trouble reigning it in. One of these days, his focus was going to bring nothing but trouble.
"You're right. I'm sorry, Doctor." He sighed. "I'd forgotten the reason you came to me with this project idea."
"Your heart was in the right place, General. It was just pointing in the wrong direction."
"Thank you, Doctor." He then gave a chuckle. "But next time, please, maintain military bearing and call me General."
"Of course, sir." He gave a stiff salute, and the general left him to his work with-
"Father? Who was that man?"
"That was General Ironwood, sweetie." Pietro replied to the voice on his computer. "He's the man who will be training you very soon."
"General Ironwood." There was silence, though it was filled with different web-pages being brought on screen. "He is the headmaster of Atlas Academy and the commanding officer of Atlas military. He is currently unmarried, though there are rumors of him having a prior relationship with-"
"Oh, Penny!" Pietro quickly closed the tabloid article. "I told you to ignore that paparazzi nonsense!"

Is their anyone who can match Pyrrha's thirst for Jaune?
"T-Thirst?!" The Mistral Champion sputtered, her cheeks gaining a pink tinge. "I-I am not thirsty--!!" Pyrrha denied, folding her arms over her bust, but found herself interrupted.
"You're thirsty for him, P-Money," Yang teased her with a cheeky grin, which made the redhead's cheeks turn red as her hair.
As Pyrrha huffed, listening to the snickering of Ruby and Nora, Blake simply smiled at the exchange, and Ren exhales while enjoying his tea. Weiss rolled her ice-blue eyes, still uncertain of what the famed Champion sees in Jaune, who was in her opinion loveable, but a goofball. As Pyrrha was about to get into an argument with Yang, a loud 'manly' shout was heard; which was obviously from the redhead's object of affection. They turn to see Jaune Arc, who was being fondled by a black-haired girl in dark colors, who strangely resembled Weiss.
"Oh, no," the Schnee Heiress groaned in dread, "not her. Please, not her!"
"C'mon, Darling," Bleiss Gele says to the flustered swordsman, his cheeks crimson as she had her hands on his crotch and abdomen. "I thought you like getting hugs~?"
"There's a difference between hugs," Jaune clarifies to the Atlesian Blacksheep, "and fondling people in public, Bleiss!!"
As the crass, vulgar dark mirror of Weiss continued to harass the young blonde; Weiss and Pyrrha glared at the scene taking place. For Weiss, it was unpleasant to be related to the girl who resembled her, if she was a profanity-ridden, lustful banshee. Even though she was given away by their father to keep up the facade of him being a natural Schnee instead of marrying into the family, Bleiss' attitude made it difficult to relate to her. Plus, her sexually harassing Jaune was something utterly degenerate in her eyes. For Pyrrha, it was rage-inducing to meet an unpleasant version of Weiss. Sure, the white-haired Glyph Maker was difficult to get along with in the beginning, but she eventually grew on her in time. Bleiss, however, was everything opposite of Weiss and yet more unbearable. Plus, seeing her getting too close to Jaune made her blood boil.
"Oh, great," Yang said with a groan, "it's M-Rated Weiss." She exhaled, placing her cheek against her right hand. "Just, great," she said sarcastically.
"To think she makes Weiss, in the beginning, look like a saint," Blake said, which earned her an annoyed sneer from her teammate. "I'm just stating the truth," the Cat Faunus replied with a shrug of her shoulders.
"Yeesh," Nora grimaced as she watched Jaune back away from the approaching Bleiss, "talk about a greater thirst, huh Pyr-Pyr?" Nora turns to her teammate, who was cracking her knuckles.
"Her again," Pyrrha said as she rises from her seat, walking up to Bleiss and getting in between her and her leader/teammate/crush. "That's enough, Bleiss!"
"Hey," the Schnee Blacksheep scowls, "fuck off, Cereal Bitch! I was talking with Darling first~." She flutters her eyelashes toward Jaune, who gulped in response.
"You mean harassing him," she replied, wrapping her arm around Jaune's. "Bleiss, you do remember Goodwitch's warning, right?"
"When it comes to my fuckable himbo," the black-haired twin replies, huffing. "I don't give a fuck what Goodbitch says!"
"Bleiss, I swear," Pyrrha grits her teeth, "if you as so much attempt anything untoward--!"
"Rich," Bleiss snickered, "coming from a bitch thirsty as me, Cereal Bitch. At least I'm honest," she smiles smugly, which made the Champion's anger rise.
'I swear to the Brothers,' Pyrrha thought, gritting her teeth. 'I am going to punch this harlot's teeth in!'
"Yeesh," another feminine voice spoke up, this time it was mature but it wasn't one of the professors. "girls, give a guy some breathing room."
Bleiss, Pyrrha, and Jaune turn to a tall, voluptuous woman with long brunette hair flowing behind her approaching the trio. She wore a black, tight-hugging dress that clung to her hourglass figure. She stared at the situation with concerned chocolate eyes, though her gaze mainly focused on the hoodie-wearing knight. As she moved toward Jaune, pushing Pyrrha aside; they noticed that her ample bust was bigger than Yang's, and her wide hips made Blake's look slim. She pulls the swordsman into a hug, specifically placing his cheek against her bust; the top of her dress has a small cross between her breasts, holding them together like straps. She pats the other side of the blonde's face while pushing it against her chest, which made him blush greatly.
"You two should be ashamed of yourselves," the brunette scolds the two girls, "it's unbecoming of a Champion of Mistral, and certainly unbecoming of a Schnee, regardless if she's disowned."
"Excuse me," Pyrrha spoke up as if her rage was given another boost. "Unbecoming?!"
"The fuck you say, bitch?!" Bleiss grabs hold of Bitchbreaker's handle, preparing to unsheathe it, "Who the fuck do you think you are?!"
"Kendra Otani," she answers the Schnee Blacksheep, turning away from the two girls; beginning to take Jaune in tow. "a friend of his sister's, and someone who needs to keep him away from hormonal lil' hooligans." She caresses his cheek, "Isn't that right, baby~?"
"I...Uh," Jaune stammers, his entire face red and his brain becoming fried. "Uh, sure thing."
Team RWBY, the remaining Team JNPR, and Bleiss Gele watched with widened eyes. Blinking for a few seconds, before the black-haired diva opened her mouth.
"THAT CUNT!!" Bleiss shouts at the top of her lungs, "How dare she snatch Darling away from me?!"
"I don't know who that is," Pyrrha said, as she caresses Auko gently, "but I would like to have a 'talk' with her."

Would gender bending Adam Taurus into Eve Taurus have changed anything in her story or would it have played out the exact same way as Adam? Is toxic masculinity the main thing to blame or just his stupidity and short sightedness and self righteousness? Also do you think you could have fixed Eve Taurus?
I don't think Adam's gender is strictly important to the story. The key is his behavior toward Blake and toward human/Faunus relations. Adam's flaws have more to do with his own spitefulness and hate more so than something I'd consider related explicitly to toxic masculinity. I could very well be missing something, but I don't feel like the show ever explicitly links Adam's gender or views on gender to his general shittiness as a person. Adam is just an asshole regardless of gender, and his problems are connected much more closely to his race than his sex or gender.
I think the main thing switching Adam's gender would've accomplished is changing the fandom's response to his ("her") characterization. Many of the people who idolize him now would hate his guts if he was a her and many of the people who hate him now would be all like "you go girlboss, Tauradonna's so hot, I want Eve to step on me", so you'd get the same shitshow from different directions.
Also we'd have new debates about Blake's sexuality probably, right now she's pretty clearly bi because she was in a relationship with Adam, was briefly teased with Sun, and is now showing interest in Yang, but you'd definitely have a lot more people interpreting her as a lesbian if Adam was Eve instead
I could not fix Eve Taurus and wouldn't even try. I would be too busy fixing the fact that Winter Schnee is currently and tragically single.
(I'd go for Yang if I had the choice but Blake would cry if my irresistible charm and charisma stole away her warm and fluffy girlfriend and I'm not that cruel to catgirls)

Can you elaborate on how Weiss should've let her hair down and her attitude should've become more rebellious and less uptight after healing from her family?
Sure!
The show dipped its toes in themes of wealth inequality and classism, establishing that Weiss's family was the most wealthy with the most influence and with the most dark past. I think they had a responsibility to then make it clear that they were against that dark past (including Nicholas Schnee) and against billionaires and classism. And the show also established that Weiss at the beginning of the show was judgmental, high strung, bigoted, and spoiled, but they were trying to get across that she has a heart of gold anyway (though with how they mishandled the Faunus/White Fang issue, it puts a damper on Weiss's early character.) By the time the third season was done, Weiss had already grown much more casual and easygoing, having fun with Ruby and Yang, and it was also established that her home life wasn't very happy and she (with Winter's encouragement) started taking steps to shed her reliance on her father's ways. Then in volume four, we see Weiss more unhappy and subdued than we've ever seen her in very unhappy circumstances with her father treating her badly, and her 'princess' vibes have actually gotten more intense than ever with the heavy jewelry and closed up blue dress. Her moment where she yells at the party goers for being so out of touch and then her actively running away from the life of luxury but confinement she's been stifled in... Plus, songs like It's My Turn, Mirror Mirror Part II, and This Life Is Mine really gave the impression of disillusionment that Weiss was breaking away from everything she knew and finding happiness once she was free from everything holding her back.
The closed off blue-gray dress and heavy jewelry really felt like symbolism to indicate how held back Weiss was. I kind of thought that when she left or when she got to Haven with the others, she would change into something white and open and less princess based (and maybe cut her hair.) And I wanted Weiss to leave the family because of realizing how horrible her parents and grandfather were and how unhappy she actually was, but instead she left because her dad gave her inheritance to Whitley and she couldn't become CEO anymore. And then I thought leaving her family and all the luxuries behind would kickstart a growth arc for Weiss where she struggles with basically having nothing but also starts enjoying herself, and starts realizing how much she never actually wanted the things her parents and grandfather had wanted.
But what actually happened was that they kept Weiss in that muted closed off dress for seasons while kind of just acting like she wasn't concerned about anything and didn't need to go through any changes, and then she went to Atlas. And I thought "Oh here we go, now she's going to start leaning into the rebellion stuff, all of this being in Atlas business is going to make Weiss remember how horrible her family has been and she'll throw off their classist ways and snobbish vibes, and be more of a woman of the people and maybe even let go of her grudge against Whitley and try to get him out because she no longer wants to be CEO and realizes that he's in the same boat she once was in." And then her V7-9 look was even more princess-y and rich and muted and heavy than ever before like being in Atlas had just made her miss her old lifestyle or want to prove she belonged to it or something. And the writers leaned into the 'it's not that billionaires are bad, it's that Jacques is a non-blood related usurper bad apple' thing with Willow being good actually and with having Weiss's grandfather being fine actually, and they had Blake joke about Weiss's family owning everything, and Weiss was still acting like Whitley had ruined her life, and Jacques just got brushed off, and Weiss got all this angel imagery and didn't care about attending the rally for the person going against Jacques.
Then the Schnees lost their whole fortune and mansion anyway, but like, that just makes it feel even more like Weiss didn't want that and would've actually gone back to being a billionaire CEO while dressed like a princess and living in a giant mansion the size of Blake's whole home town. And it just reeks of.... Billionaire simping. I really wish that Weiss had been more rebellious and shed a lot of her princess imagery and got away from the ideals of her family more, because not only would it imo make Weiss a stronger and better character, but it would also make RWBY more progressive because it would be anti-billionaire anti-classism commentary.

hiiii. so i loved the honey thing for new couples that you incorporated and i was wondering if there was anything you wanted to share related to faunus marriage/wedding traditions ? also….do some of the newsies (nora) demand to be a part of the wedding in some way lmao
[I just thought an awful lot about Faunus traditions generally, as a bit of background!]
okay so this ask absolutely lit up my brain as I considered the possibilities, so thanks for that.
there's just so many wonderful, idiosyncratic wedding traditions out there! there's glass stomping, of course, but there's also handfasting, various kinds of candle-lighting, jumping the broom... I know of one couple who came from two different seaside towns literally across the world from each other, and they combined sand from those two beaches as well as the beach of the destination wedding island where they were getting married. the options are infinite!
that last example, though, about the sand? that sparked the thought that is The Right Thought:
so the Faunus creation myth of the Shallow Sea is all about choice and transformation-- the Faunus become Faunus by being brave enough to leap into the water and reveal their true, changed selves; after that, there is no going back. I think this would be an absolutely lovely and meaningful sentimenet to be incorporated into Faunus marriages-- having to jump (or gently step with just your bare feet to not ruin your outfit lmao) into a shallow pool of water together, to show that your union will forever change you, that it's a choice you're making from which you cannot turn back. and, of course, that you're proud of your Faunus heritage. the water would need to be salted to represent the Shallow Sea, but probably a tradition over time evolved where couples maybe put other things meaningful to them/their relationship into the water. off the top of my head, maybe a little bit of printing ink or rose petals to represent Summer come to mind for the bees.
you didn't ask me about Mantali traditions, but they probably have something sort of superstitious in the vein of "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue"-- certain genres of things from some old saying you're supposed to incorporate into your outfit or ceremony for good luck. maybe something Dust-related? I'll have to think on it
as far as who's ultimately involved with the wedding... the biggest issue is navigating everyone's egos because both Ghira and Kali and Weiss want to pay for the whole damn thing, but have different expectations of what A Proper Wedding is supposed to look like, and tbh Blake and Yang would be fine if they just, like, did it at Calavera's with the tables pushed to the sides! they're not fancy!!! also like Weiss's bank accounts aren't exactly infinite anymore, she has access to the trust fund Nicholas set up for her independently that Jacques can't touch, and her savings she transferred from her regular "allowance" back when Jacques was still giving her money, but she doesn't have bottomless Schnee pockets anymore. meanwhile Ghira and Kali are 100% trying to buy Yang's love because they already adore her and poor Yang is like IS THIS A TEST ARE THEY TRYING TO SEE IF MY LOVE CAN BE BOUGHT CLEARLY ON MY HONOR I MUST TURN ALL OF THIS DOWN
the bickering only stops when Blake and Yang threaten to elope and have Robyn marry them at The Spot (Robyn: "obligated to point out that I'm technically only ordained in Mantle and weird I just went suddenly and temporarily deaf at this mention of a wildly illegal use of an unpermitted Atlesian landing space LOVE THE ENERGY THO I'll keep my schedule clear")
ultimately they have a perfectly reasonably sized wedding at a perfectly reasonably priced reception hall. I don't know that Remnant would have bridesmaids/attendants like most modern American weddings, and even if they did I feel like Yang and Blake would BOTH feel a lot of pressure about it in different ways (Yang being like "oh no I have too many best friends where do I cut it off" and Blake being like "do I even have friends my mind has gone blank I don't think I've ever made a friend in my life"). probably instead of doing that, they make it a big sort of potluck community thing where everyone has a job. some of them are very intuitive and somewhat-traditional (Ren makes the cake, Velvet takes pictures, Weiss helps pay for it) ("My job is coordinating all the vendors so everything goes smoothly; paying for it is a gift!!") and some of them are... a little less that (Nora is 'Party Captain' and makes sure there are always people on the dance floor, Ruby is 'Hydration and Sustenance Captain' and makes sure the bees are drinking water and don't fall into the common trap of oops the couple only ever has champagne and barely touches their food, Zwei is the ring bearer).
they honeymoon in Menagerie, which is the first time Yang's ever been because until then they couldn't afford for both of them to be absent from the Bee at the same time. (every other time before that when she'd met the Belladonnas, it's because they came to Mantle, prompting many jokes about how an entire country could do without its Chieftain easier than the small newspaper could do without its editor-in-chief)
GOD THAT WAS SO FUN TO THINK ABOUT THANK YOU

Things in RWBY Rewrite (with the magic system) that I am eager to write:
Summer was straight up thought to be the Chosen One to defeat Salem by everyone who knew about her. Her death and the failure and destruction of STRQ, her team, fractured the much larger OzLuminati around 12 years ago. This is what causes the big schism between the major four we see, too - Oz, James, Glynda, and Qrow - and Glynda is also an exile from Atlas, and James' ex-partner from the academy, so there's a lot of history here. But yeah. Summer was thought to be destined to win. And she died and no one knows why. So it's not so much "Ruby as the Chosen One" as "Ruby as the one after the Chosen One fails, the one who tries to put it all back together".
James and Willow straight up had an affair and that's where Whitley comes from. They're not together. They're not in love. They have very complex feelings. And no one is the right person in this situation. But god is it fun.
Two years ago, Jacques went to trial and jail for embezzlement and abuse and the whole history and story of the Schnees came to light, which means anyone can know all of Weiss' family's secrets now and there's nothing Weiss can do about it. Weiss walks around knowing that people know her scar is from her father.
Pyrrha was trained by Caroline Cordovin, who is straight up one of the most monstrous people in all of Remnant. She is still a kind and loving person who wants desperately to be noticed for who she is, and to be normal, but now she's walking around with more trauma than most of the characters post V3 in her first appearance. We'll learn about that later.
Monstrous type semblances are a rare elemental type aligned with manipulation, destruction, and the Grimm. Adam, Neptune, and Kali all possess Monstrous type semblances, which are illegal by decree of the Global Remnant Hunting Board and can get you imprisoned in some cases.
The White Fang is mostly an activist group. Adam is the faction that is Bad only. They're the Red Fang.
Taiyang and Raven are both trans, which means Ruby is not genetically related to Taiyang, and instead is related to one of the twins. They don't know which one. The twins are identical and both had sexual relationships with the other members of Team STRQ at the time Summer got pregnant. It's the same with Taiyang and his pregnancy with Yang. No one knows which twin knocked either of them up and frankly, it doesn't matter. STRQ is their parents, that's how Ruby and Yang see it. It's my way of going "yeah okay let's play with the Qrow theory but in a way that's FUN and doesn't involve FUCKING OVER TAIYANG". I love Taiyang. Expect a lot of him.
Little is a faunus and Ruby and Yang's little sibling. This is extremely plot relevant.

Would you like to talk about how you see Adam as a Jewish allegory?
considering how much violently antisemitic hate this concept got recently, hell yeah i would lmao!
there's a few minor / character related things for adam that i think relate to him as totally unintentional jewish allegory, & then some larger scheme aspects in regards to the faunus as a whole & some other jewish concepts that apply. again, this is all totally unintentional in the eyes of the writers as they themselves are also incredibly antisemitic, but i'm jewish so those goy can suck my dick.
red hair!
red hair, while incorrectly associated with irish people — we have phenotypically dark hair & light eyes — was also a marker for jewish people, especially ashkenazi jews. the stereotype seems to stem from all the way back in the talmud: where david & esau were referred to as "admoni", basically meaning redhead. by time it came to medieval europe & the spanish inquisition: red hair was a mark of jewish "otherness" & dishonesty / treachery. adam himself having red hair ties into these tropes, he's othered by society due to his faunus nature & is seen as the "traitor" in the narrative of others.
his name!
a lot of "western" / "christian" names are hebrew in nature, due to the violent colonization & oppression of jewish people. these names were anglecized / westernised to strip them of their roots, but they are hebrew all the same. adam itself not only refers to his red hair / the red earth, but to adam in the bible.
his faunus type!
aside from the faunus in particular just being really applicable to jewish oppression & survival in the midst of goyishe oppression: adam's specific faunus type can also allude to the golden calf. the sin of the calf, aka the worship of the golden calf idol when moses went up mount sinai, is an important part of the book of exodus.
the golden calf itself wasn't just a sign of insolence from the israelites following moses, but their fear & anxiety that he wouldn't return & they would once again be in danger. adam being tied to this bull & the narrative of the whole tale could very well tie into his own fear of ever being placed back into the horrors of slavery in the sdc & the violent oppression there: becoming his own calf idol in order to lead the white fang in a way that he sees fit to keep himself safe.
his colours!
adam himself is associated with the colours : red, black & blue. red obviously brings forth the very biblical concept of blood & wrath & rage: but i also like to really tie it to the lamb's blood put over the doorways of jewish homes when g-d's justice for us against the egyptian oppressors came at the loss of their first born sons. that blood, that sacrifice in the moment meant that we were kept safe while our oppressors suffered for their decisions, which tbh can be very applicable to adam.
blue is an interesting one in judaism because it's a holy colour for us, it's usually the colour on our tallit alongside black & white. it's also tied with jewish reclamation & hanukkah: a holiday centred around violence being used as liberation from a violent oppressor. the fact this colour is in adam's eyes could very well show that he sees the way that will need to be taken against the violent human oppressors in remnant.
his brand!
the way jews were borderline branded with the number tattoos in camps such as auschwitz is basic knowledge of the horrors surrounding the holocaust: adam being branded by the oppressive sdc company that exploits faunus labour while simultaneously dehumanizing them, brutalizing them & often being complicit in deaths under that exploitation — see: ilia's parents — very much parallels this in my eyes, though obviously not to the same horrific extent.
the fact that the schnees are a very german coded family & corporation does little to dissuade this comparison btw.
the faunus as a whole!
this one's a lot more generalizing to the entire faunus population which we completely acknowledge had taken primarily from black struggles & oppression in the mid 20th century america. however there are a lot of parallels to jewish oppression also, such as them being ethnically segregated into an ethnostate, the various attacks on faunus being seen as pogroms, a lot of the featured animal types of faunus in the show featuring in the torah & other things.
the faunus has overall just become a blob of "insert oppressed minority here", in a far less tactful way than other groups like them in media such as the x men but hey ho.
so yeah! this is why i see adam, personally, as jewish allegory & why people reducing him to just a "sociopathic abusers", ableism aside, ends up being incredibly reductive because this character is the one who faces the most racialized violence in his life, he was literally a former child slave, he is canonically pushed to actions he didn't want to take & in the end of it, adam's death is treated as the cure to faunus racism because it's never brought up again post this event.
overall it's just really disappointing to see this incredibly marginalized character who, not unintentionally, is constantly compared to an actual jewish character based on combating jewish oppression without respectability politics in magneto, essentially just used as a very blunt tool by very dumb, very ignorant non oppressed writers.

So I could assume you like Prismatic Ponytails and you have it in your Bio that you were Shipping bumblebee since 2013
That would theoretically leave Ruby Rose.
If I may ask, who's Ruby partner in your eyes? You don't have to answer if you don't want to just asking.
Short Answer: I don't know for sure, but I'd be happy if she and Weiss got together. I really want her to be happy.
Long Answer: and buckle up because it is long.
I like the absolute crack of Prismatic Ponytails. I would like to see Weiss (or one of the Schneeblings) end up with a faunus in the end. I feel like that would have Jaques rolling in his grave and add a nice little touch. Ilia falling for Weiss seems like a long shot due to her previous hatred of humans and resentment of the Schnees because of her parents dying in the dust mine collapse. I really just want Ilia to get a girlfriend, and the idea of her dating Weiss tickles something deep in my brain that I can't really explain. Probably the sheer poetry of it.
It's really hard for me to say at this point for Ruby. She hasn't really shown romantic interest (in my opinion, calm down readers) in anyone. I actually really like White Rose because I like the idea of the snobby rich girl with a whole legacy weighing on her shoulders being with (and I say this with all the love in the world) a hyperactive dumbass to be great.
Diakko
Lumity
White Rose
They all follow the trope. There is also actual growth between Weiss and Ruby as friends and partners as a whole. I have to see what kind of relationships Ruby shows in vol. 10. I'm also just fine with her being like Qrow and being a single Huntress who goes off on her own adventures. If that's what she wants.
Nuts & Dolts is a close second. They were great friends, but Ruby doesn't seem to ever be romantically interested in anyone. Granted, she doesn't have the time to, and she's younger, and she had all this "follow in your mother's footsteps" bullshit going on that she probably never considered it a possibility. (Like Yang never considering putting her own feelings first a possibility).
If this is going off the poll, I purposely didn't add White Rose Daughter to the list because I'm not having Cubby going after her cousin. Even if they aren't blood related. No incest/ inner family loving.
People who ship rwbabies from Bumbleby and White Rose together make me a bit uncomfortable for that. Like, they're technically cousins.
"Yeah, but not blood related, so it's fine."
Yeeeeaaaaah, that's still a no from me, dawg. I'm sorry. You do you, but not my thing.
So there's the short and long of it. I apologize for the thesis. Closest endgame ship I can see for Ruby is Weiss. Most realistically for me though, she chooses to be aro/ace and just vibes.

So basically there is and was discrimination in Remnant because it is in human nature to feud against each other even when they're supposed to be united against one great enemy?
If to go more metaphysical - discrimination exists because people don't always commit to fighting it and pat themselves on their backs as having solved it.
Discrimination and oppression isn't an ON/OFF button - it's a sliding scale with shifting targets. The awful truth is that the majority don't really extinguish it as unacceptable - instead, they merely force it down towards their "acceptable" tolerance levels.
Remnant had/has monarchies, and Remnant has starvation and slavery, not to mention corporations and class divide (again, the Schnee family existence already proves that). Faunus had to fight for their rights, and there was an entire Great War thing where one Kingdom attempted to snuff out freedom of expression.
No matter how one looks at it, "there's no discrimination in Remnant" makes no sense as it's everywhere - character backstories, whatever little bits of worldbuilding are given, and so on.
It's rooted in cultures, myths, and history, and it doesn't just disappear with the fall of Mantle or White Fang would literally not exist, let alone Schnees would not have all the power, Cardin wouldn't be a bully picking targets based on racism or masculinity and so on.
But the world acts like it's all solved. The Great War is over, the heroes have beaten the bad guys, the Faunus get a pat on the back(and a shoddy island with an insulting name), and the world decides everything is fine now. The parallels to our world are right there.
So, does it mean that humanity is predisposed to behavior like that? Are we doomed to keep repeating the same cycles as some seek positions of power only to divide everyone into "us and the others"? Is humanity inherently destructive and hopeless, or is there a chance to learn from the past and grow as a species?
Well, that is something the show had to actually explore (but it didn't), considering it's inbuilt into everything - even the dumb two gods subplot.
But it didn't. The writers just said, "there's no other discrimination".
So as far as the show is concerned - one of the main thematic elements of the entire show doesn't matter and doesn't exist.
Now, in terms of what I am attempting to do - the idea within the ask is something my version of Salem would believe - that all systems inherently devolve into chaos and are destined to self-destruct.
The relation between the concepts of beginning and the end is an element within the bigger cosmology of the setting, so she's not necessarily wrong, as this version of Salem barely needed to do anything for Remnant's civilizations to keep messing up - no relics or gods used within the narrative for it. Her role and approach to things also nicely tie into the fairytale aspect of the setting and the fairytale tropes and stereotypes Salem embodies. Part of her goal is the need to prove to Ozpin (for specific reasons) - that there's no point in what he is doing.

Hey Howling, hope you're doing well!
I've been struggling with writing a RWBY fanfic at the moment and wanted to ask you for advice.
The whole setup for my plot takes place 3-4 years after the team presumably defeats Salem in the series finale (and no more main cast members die), but what I'm really struggling with is team RWBY's motives to be Huntresses post-Volume 9.
And by this, I mean even after Salem is defeated why would they KEEP going?
Cuz as far as I understand:
Ruby did it to be a hero like her Mom but by now post Volume-9 is trying to be her own person.
Weiss did it to get away from her family, but in a world without Salem... why would she still be a Huntress instead of mostly a business woman trying to help others?
Blake obviously started it to make up for past wrongs, and would probably want to be a sort of faunus ambassador post-Salem, so I get how being a Huntress would help with that.
But Yang? I think thrills was her original goal, along with protecting her sister, but what does she have left to spend the rest of her life fighting for? Especially since, without Salem, Ruby doesn't need her, and Yang's outgrown her mom.
So what would be their motivations to be Huntresses post-Salem? Or do they just do it to do it out of habit and familiarity?
I'd appreciate any feedback you got!
Ooh! Advice! I love giving advice... when it's something I actually know how to do.
Okay, so first off, you gotta set up the scene. Salem is gone, right? So what happened to the world? Where is everyone now? How did the world change from Salem's defeat? We, as the reader, need to know what's exactly happening in this brave new world. And it is up to us, as the author, to narrate and deliver the news of the Whos, Whats, Whens, Whys, Wheres, and Hows.
What are all of the huntsmen and huntresses doing? Are there still Grimm? How long has it been? What happened during the final battle to save the world? Did the teams all stay together, or did they drift apart? What are the Kingdoms going to focus on now?
Once you've built your stage, then it's time to set your players and their roles.
Ruby, as you've said, has grown into her own person and, as far as we can tell, is the only silver-eyed warrior left. What will she do now with that title and as the savior of the world? Will she fade into the obscurity of legend, or will she continue as she always had and keep surprising people?
Weiss' goal in tge beginning was to restore the honor of her family name. In Volume 9, she established what her dream really is as a callback to her dream stated before. In what way does she rebuild her legacy as the prodigal heiress of the Schnee name? Does she return to Atlas to rebuild? Does she stay as a huntress?
Blake's story, as I see, was way too overly waylaid by the main story's events, with her previous real growth was her fight against Adam, and before that was the disbanding of the White Fang. What happens now that Faunus and Human relations have worked together to eliminate the threat of Salem? Are there still supremacists? What happened to Menagerie? How is Yang involved as both her partner, her friend, and as her lover?
And speaking of Yang, you have brought up a good point. What does Yang do now that the baby bird she helped raise finally fly on her own? Does she let Ruby leave the nest? Does she seek other children to care for? Where is the rest of her team, her family, and her friends fall into this scenario?
Who are these characters, and what is their story to tell in this strange, new world in who knows where?
---------------------------------------------------
Sorry if it sounds like I'm just asking a bunch of questions, but I hope these do open your mind to the possibilities a story could go. I've actually had an idea for an original fantasy novel, and when I asked my buddy, who's a better story-teller than I, for advice, he said, "Build the world, then fill it".

In volume 9, team RWBY will face revelations about their identities. This volume is the one where all of team RJWBY crack their eggs
Haha, that would be something. I can imagine Jaune calling her mother when she gets back like "guess what mom, turns out you have an 8th daughter."
I am really curious how they're going to be exploring the team's identifies this volume. The theme of "identity" was heavily featured in the synopsis, teaser, and clip, so I assume it'll be a major part of the volume. We know, or we're all pretty confident in the idea that the Ever After is basically going to be Therapy Island where a lot of the characters try to process a lot of their issues and traumas, it'll be interesting to see how their sense of identity is developed as they work through all their stuff.
My friend @shera-dnd pondered if maybe Ruby might come out as nonbinary in this volume, which, while not actually likely, would be really cool. And it does make some bit of sense. Ruby's already being voiced by a nonbinary voice actor, so it'd fit that way. Plus, in past volumes Ruby has repeatedly shown discomfort with overly feminine things, maybe Ruby will explore exactly where on the gender spectrum they do feel comfortable. On top of the mountain of repressed trauma and grief that Ruby has been bottling up forever.
Weiss' issues with identity could be tied to her family. She wasn't the kind Schnee her father was, and in volumes 7 & 8 she learned that she's not the kind of Schnee her sister is either.
I'll be honest I'm not totally sure what Blake's going to face in the Ever After. The show's actually done a good job of having Blake work through a lot of her issues during volumes 1-6. But those could always come roaring back up, especially since she wasn't able to save Yang at the end. Even though Yang's not actually dead, I could see Blake feeling a tremendous amount of guilt over it. I have no idea how her identity might be explored, though, except maybe what it means to be a Faunus in a world that still discriminates against Faunus.
Yang. Oof I could probably write a WHOLE LOT about Yang (she's one of my favorite characters). In terms of identity, I think there's a good chance that'll be related to her sexuality. Besides one throwaway line in the second episode of volume 1, Yang hasn't shown any interest in men. Meanwhile, she's shown an obvious desire for Blake, and has been dressing in butchier and butchier outfits since Beacon. Maybe she's not lesbian (even though I'm personally rooting for her to be one), but she's definitely not straight. But what even is sexual attraction when you spend most of your time suppressing and pushing down your own wants and desires because you think the only value you have is your ability to be of use to the people you care about, especially Ruby and Blake.
The obvious thing for Jaune will be him dealing with his participation in Penny's death. Will he think of himself as a monster? A murderer? A failure as a Huntsman and leader? Poor Jauney-boy's going to be a mess this volume.
I'm also really interested in Neopolitan in volume 9 (she's also one of my favorite characters). Neo's rejected her existence for just about her entire life, eventually even abandoning her name in order to live out a fantasy of playing cops and robbers with Roman. Her life was carefree and driven by an almost child-like hedonism until she lost Roman. Since then the only thing driving her has been a misguided quest to avenge his death. But without that, who is Neopolitan? At this point, I'm not sure she knows the answer to that.
Goodness volume 9 is going to be SO MUCH FUN. And by fun I mean we're going to be witnessing our gang go through just the most trauma, and I can't wait.
