You know what puzzles me about the whole Threads discussion? 

So many people were complaining about Twitter, even before it was taken over by Musk.

Like, how many people were HAPPY using twitter? Sure, some folks were, apparently, but a lot of people complained about doom scrolling (especially during the pandemic), being (legitimately) upset about all the right-wing bullshit that was spread there and wasn’t censored, rants, doxxing, false information ...

... and now that Twitter is finally kicking the bucket, you turn around, ready to sign up for the next best thing that is the same shit, but in a different colour?

I'm kinda hoping someone else would strike up a convo with me because that's how all my friendships worked lol someone comes to me and decides to adopt me. I get too overwhelmed to reach out myself.

Especially since it's gonna be loud and overstimulating. The whole deaf/apd thing is making me the most stressed. I can't deal with the anxiety of trying to make out what people are trying to say to me on top of background noise and masking/responding.

Was thinking maybe I can set up shop somewhere. What shop that is tho... I dunno

If I weren't so rusty and blind I'd bring a sketchbook maybe.. safe conversation starter sort of thing. Not as antisocial as a book or phone.

If I knew how to verbalize a tarot reading I could fiddle with those. But I wouldn't be able to be like "Hey lemme practice on you" because words are ugh.

You think if I sat there fiddling with some cards against humanity I could lure some people to come play? 😅

I mean, if I saw someone sitting at a bar table or something slapping down CAH by themselves I'd probably be enticed to ask if I could join them. 👀 that's not weird. Right?

And it would involve talking and bonding without conversation killers like "what do you do" 'cause I'm a chronically ill bum who doesnt do jack shit. 🙃

Very excited to share the progress I've made on my current cross stitch project. I'm selecting only small projects so I have better odds of actually completing them. When it's finished, this will be going in my partner's office where their research server is named Princess Zelda. 😊

I'm really enjoying the methodical approach I'm taking for cross stitch. I have a specific routine down for each step now, from cutting the length of floss, to threading my needle, to using my darning needle as an awl (which I do in addition to railroading), to tunneling my thread ends. I see so many folks in cross stitch groups talking about how to stitch faster, but I'm so enjoying the slow approach I have. It's relaxing. It allows me to lay my stitches carefully to ensure good coverage. You'd think the ADHD would make me want to zoom through it, but I think I get hyperfocused and taking it slow is actually soothing to this brain that never shuts up.

weird social media space these days. facebook is nope. twitter is nope. tiktok is ok, advertisers are all there, but might get banned in more spaces. then you have instagram: a platform that used to be it's own thing, was later acquired by facebook, who later turned meta, then the outage happened, reminding us how important twitter is/was, elon musk swoops in and destroys the company, and here we are now with instagrams.. THREADS: a platform that aims to bring online conversation forward in a more organized manner, unlike twitter, which is real difficult to keep up. the entire app design is just wrong for how heavily it's used today. so, knowing there will always been a space online where people should be speaking, it seems they've grabbed the bull by the horns and completely reinvented the conversation model. don't like what's being said? change the conversation.

will social media even be important in the future? could there be a generation that disconnects?

Additional addendum: in much the way most smartphones come with Instagram and Youtube installed by default (and unable to be deleted!), Threads is reportedly impossible to delete once installed. (Note that it's possible--with root access/developer access--to forcibly delete anything, but doing so may have undesirable side effects.)

My dad's inability to recognize ai images on facebook needs to be studied. It's not an age thing, he's only gen x. My mom is the same age and she can also spot ai images right away. Like we're talking about images with that obviously glazed over look/obvious mistakes
